That's 855 212 42 27. You can also get a hold of me. I am online. I am on the internet. I'm everywhere. I am at JR sport brief.
That's at JR sport brief everywhere on social media. We've already had a busy show. Talked about the panthers and the Oilers. Game seven of the Stanley cup finals. It's tonight. The Oilers trying to sweep them on the back end.
Florida's trying to avoid losing a 3-0 series lead. We talked about the Cleveland Cavaliers having a new head coach in Kenny Atkinson. We talked about Scottie Barnes. His new deal. His new contract with the Toronto Raptors.
270 million dollars over the next five years. We talked about Angel Reese and Kaitlyn Clark. Yeah, they played again. Angel Reese says there is no rivalry.
Well, I don't know what world she lives in, but there is one. And then a little bit before we got on air, the Los Angeles Lakers, they formally introduced JJ Redick as their new head coach. JJ Redick hoping that he lasts a little bit longer than Darvin Ham or Frank Vogel or Luke Walton or Byron Scott.
Hold on, I got to take a breath. Or Mike D'Antoni or Mike Brown. Damn. The Lakers love to hire them and they love to fire them. But with JJ Redick, congratulations, you just turned 40 years old. Happy birthday to JJ Redick. The man with no head coaching experience is going to be tasked of leading one of the greatest basketball players of all time in LeBron James. And Anthony Davis, who would be a great basketball player if he wasn't so damn brittle. And I get it, he played a lot last year.
But if I was taking an over or under on 70 games, I'm going under for both of them. Okay, so JJ Redick, knowing that the Lakers have to do a little bit more to the roster and be competitive and the championships are the goal. It was going to be real interesting to hear what JJ Redick and Rob Palenka had to say about the Lakers in their future.
I mean, right out of the gate, they were peppered with questions. And JJ Redick and Rob Palenka, they had some answers. Pretty much right away, Rob Palenka was asked, hey, why do you like JJ Redick? Why did you pursue hiring this man as the head coach?
Really important for us to see if we could do something a little bit different. And quickly in our conversations with JJ, it was very evident that he had a unique perspective and philosophy on basketball and how it's to be taught. I think immediately when we sat down in Chicago at the combine, we shared a basketball philosophy that was very similar. And it was based on high level strategy.
It was based on a certain way of communicating with players and teaching them and probably most importantly, prioritizing player development. Well, the Lakers need, can you develop a 40-year-old? Well, not LeBron, I guess. LeBron is just there.
He just exists. Everybody else needs development. JJ Redick, he was asked, first of all, why the hell do you want to coach? My motivations for doing this, it starts with a very simple foundation of service. I think about the greatest moments, especially towards the end of my career was about helping players. And so it starts with the desire to serve players, to serve the Lakers organization, to serve our fans.
It's also about competition and performance, collaboration, leadership. These are the things that drive me. Oh, service. He's a man of the people.
He wants to serve people, not himself. That's right. And he carries himself on TV and podcasting that exact way, right? Oh yeah. Like a man of service, making fun of Bob Cousy. Yeah, yeah.
A man of service. Absolutely. And so Rob Palenka, and let's not be stupid here, okay? It was only a couple of days it was only a couple of days before he was offered the job that the Los Angeles Lakers offered this same job to Dan Hurley. It was very public and Dan Hurley was very public in saying, no, I don't want the job. And so how would JJ Redick feel about being just option number two? Well, Rob, well, both of them spoke about it. Rob Palenka said, man, we looked at this guy, JJ Redick since day one.
He wasn't no option number two. From the start, he was in our play plan, a pool of coaches that we were really interested in exploring. And I think the most important thing is throughout the process, JJ and I had direct and sort of constant communication to keep each other in the loop with what he was going through with his previous job, with the NBA finals.
And I was keeping him abreast of the search. And I think sometimes before a partnership is forged, when you can have real honest conversations before you actually become partners, it solidifies the relationship. And I think looking back to how transparent we were with one another, even in the midst of stuff going on in the media, I think it actually solidified our confidence and belief in working together. Stuff going on in the media. This is stuff going on in reality. Like, let's not BS, let's not just beat around the bush. Dan Hurley was their first option.
Like, Rob Palenka can make it sound as fancy as he wants to. We took a dip and took a look at our A pool. Well, these were the A options. And this was the first group.
Nah, man, that's not how life works. You get one choice and then you get choice two, three or four. And the one that they wanted, the first guy that they offered a contract to, he said no. And so Rob Palenka can sit around and put lipstick on a pig all he wants. JJ Rettick is the second option. JJ Rettick was also not shy in answering that question. And I give him credit. For today's press conference, I give JJ Rettick an A for how he was able to respond to the questions. He didn't run from them. JJ, were your feelings hurt when Dan Hurley ended up getting a contract offer before you did?
Listen to what JJ Rettick said. I was getting ready to call game one of the NBA Finals when the Dan Hurley news broke and Rob was quick to call me. We had a great conversation during that whole four-day period. Like at no point was my ego or feelings hurt or bruised in any way. Dan Hurley is a two-time national champion at UConn.
I am a two-time 55 Swiss league champion in the third and fourth grade division. Like, I understood. You know, I understood. Okay, well he understood.
Look at that. Self-deprecating while giving a response. While giving an answer. He didn't come across as too much of a jackass or a know-it-all. And I'm sure he had the feel a little bit, oh man, I might lose the job. But what is he going to sit up there and say it for? He got the job now.
He doesn't need to admit anything. But at least for today, he had enough public awareness to just go, well, the Lakers would be stupid not to take a look at this guy. And so what does this mean for JJ Rettick moving forward? How is he going to handle the media? How is he going to handle the pressure? What does he do when LeBron James says, I don't want to do this.
We need to do that. What does he do? And Anthony Davis goes, hey, I remember when I came into the league, I blocked your shot. What does he do when the quote-unquote other guys on the team start looking at JJ Rettick and going, is this coming from you or is this coming from LeBron James? And JJ Rettick and what you will probably hear for the next, I don't know, forever, whether he has success or whether he loses the job two years from now. JJ Rettick used a dirty word. He says, I don't give a bleep.
He says, I don't give a bleep what people think about me in the public. Listen to this. It's a valid question and I've certainly heard everything. It's been a really interesting six weeks or so just in terms of being part of the engagement farming industry.
It's been really interesting. However, I don't really have a great answer for your question because I really don't give a bleep. Like honestly, I want to coach the Lakers. I want to coach the team. I don't want to dispel anything. I don't.
I want to become a great coach in the NBA and I want to win championships and I want my players to maximize their careers. That's all I care about. Whoa, hickey. That one hit a nerve, huh?
Or is he just using a profanity for added emphasis? Man, yeah. Hopefully kids were not listening. Wow.
Yeah, that was tough. I know that is going to get replayed forever. Whether this man gets fired or if he has success, that could be a rallying cry that this guy is a no-nonsense type of coach.
Or if he, I don't want to say implodes. People are going to be sure to bring that up as well. JJ Redick doesn't give a bleep about public perception. I mean, so what about LeBron? We know about the podcast you did with LeBron and we even played a clip from earlier in the show. Jared Allen joined him from the Cavaliers. Like this is what JJ Redick has been doing.
I'm sitting around doing podcasts. He just called the NBA finals for ABC, ESPN. And what about the LeBron stuff? You know, did you talk to LeBron about this? I mean, you had this job interview. JJ Redick says, no, I didn't.
He didn't provide any advice. LeBron and I did not talk about the Lakers job until Thursday afternoon, about 30 minutes after I was offered the job. And that was very intentional on both our parts. You know, I knew I had an understanding that he did not want to be involved in this. And for me, I didn't want to go down the path of hypotheticals with someone that I consider a friend and someone that I have a great amount of respect for.
So for us, it just came down to literally Thursday afternoon. And I talked to him for about 15, 20 minutes and got off the phone. That was it. Hickey, was that Anthony Davis screaming in pain at the beginning of the clip? How wild is that? It's almost like a reporter or someone like had a bet like, oh yeah, he'll say he talked to LeBron. And like when he says no, like, oh, I lost the bet. That was bizarre.
I felt like somebody, Anthony Davis in the background, maybe he got kicked in the shin or something like that. That was weird and interesting. Do you believe that JJ Redick didn't get advice or communicate with LeBron?
No, no, I do not. Again, it was, I mean, is it a technicality where like, hey, maybe for two weeks, do they not talk? Maybe. But like before that, I mean, again, they hosted a podcast together and it's basically an informal interview. So you probably, I mean, they definitely talked about it, I'm sure before that.
And maybe just, you know, oh, since I officially interviewed and, you know, let's say it's like what, from the official interview to the job offer, call it a week, maybe somewhere in that time range. Maybe they didn't talk in that week. There's no doubt he did not ask for his advice or get input from LeBron before that. This was all, this is all implied. And as you just said, whether or not they spoke over the past two or three weeks, they've been talking for months. Okay.
Like, I don't think there needed to be any additional conversation. Rob Palenka did make it very clear that Anthony Davis was more involved, but that they did, they being the Los Angeles Lakers, they did talk to LeBron and that LeBron James was not as involved as Anthony Davis. But what does it really matter? Who has more of the stroke?
Who has more of the control? Even with LeBron's older age. And this is also the funny part. Hickey, this is all implied that LeBron isn't leaving.
I mean, can we also recognize that? Like what the hell are you talking to him for? And LeBron is just going to leave? You're not going anywhere. Nowhere. Could you imagine?
I'm with you. I don't think he's leaving, but could you imagine if he actually does? Oh, crap show.
They hire his friend and he goes, actually, you know what? Dallas looks pretty good right now. I'm going to get out of here. See you guys later. If, if you thought the Los Angeles Lakers looked bad when Dan Hurley rejected them, what would they look like if, if they went through all of this to bring in JJ Redick and LeBron James is like, all right, good luck, y'all. I'm leaving.
I'm gone. That'd be funny. I'd laugh. I'd laugh. You know what it'd be like? It'd be Knicks like.
I was going to say that. The old Knicks. Yeah. Knicks from like, I don't know, 15, 20 years ago. Yep.
Oh man. Every year selling their fans, selling the media, we're going to get LeBron. We're going to get KD to fall flat in their face. That would be similar. It would be. Hey, look, maybe, maybe the Lakers need to suffer for the New York Knicks to thrive. It's a, it's a possibility.
Somebody got to go up and somebody got to go down. And you know what, speaking of this, this job interview that JJ Redick has pretty much been on, it feels like for the past five to six months, JJ Redick had an answer as to whether or not he's going to do a Draymond. Are you going to do your NBA job and podcast at the same time?
And JJ Redick had an answer for that too. I am, for the time being, and hopefully it's a very, very long time, I am excommunicated from the content space. So there would be no podcast.
We'll do something when I have a breather from what we have coming up. I'm going to be drinking out of a fire hose for the next month, but at some point we'll just do something for all the people that listened and we'll have a small little video, but I'm, I'm done with podcasting for now. Oh my God. Could you imagine, could you imagine if he did podcast? Impossible.
I know it's impossible. I guess he'd have to be a, was it, was it Doug Gottlieb coaching that team in Wisconsin and doing radio, right? That's it. Could you imagine if JJ Redick said, Hey, I'm going to do, even if he did it twice a month, I'm going to podcast twice a month and I'm going to coach the Los Angeles Lakers. It drives me nuts.
It's entertaining. Sometimes when he's not annoying as hell, it drives me nuts that that Draymond Green is actively playing and even good or bad in the NBA finals, he's just like, yeah, I'm going to podcast. What's that idiot that we won't talk about too much? Patrick Beverly. This guy's podcasting through the season.
I don't know. Maybe coaches are smart enough to go, this is stupid. And JJ Redick says he's done, but it would be hilarious if the Lakers said, yeah, sure, man, keep on with your podcast. But the fact is it's not about content. It's not about shows.
It's not about listeners. But the Los Angeles Lakers, it's about championships. And as of right now, as Magic Johnson wanted to point out last week, the Los Angeles Lakers now trail the Boston Celtics when it comes to championships at 18 to 17. And so JJ Redick is not stupid. He says, I understand it. I got to win the title or I'm getting the boot.
Listen to this. Sitting in this seat, I know what the expectations are. Lakers fans have some of the most passionate fans around the world. And the expectation is a championship. And so it's my job. It's our staff's job. It's Rob's job. It's all of us to deliver a championship caliber team.
That's what I signed up for. JJ Redick played in the NBA for 15 years. This man was a player of the year at Duke. He learned under Coach K at Duke. He's called television games. He's sat down and done podcasts with LeBron James.
He talked about his producer meetings, having to sit down with coaches. His entire life has been an exercise in learning more about the trade. Well, now he has to work for the trade.
Well, now he has to apply it. I'm going to reserve judgment. I think JJ Redick can be a good head coach in the NBA, but I think we know this for most coaches. You got to have the players. We know LeBron James is 40 years old. We know Anthony Davis is brittle.
And I mean, outside of that, I mean, come on. They ain't that close. I'm going to reserve judgment until I know what the Los Angeles Lakers do throughout the off season.
And it might be sooner than later. We know the NBA draft is coming up this Wednesday. I know it sounds like a quiet draft, seems like one. JJ Redick can have success, but it depends on who's on the court. The Los Angeles Lakers, ain't no spring chickens. And JJ Redick, he could be coaching a farm team or championship squad if they get the right players in.
We're going to find out sooner than later. I'm not mad at the higher, but like all coaches, it comes down to the players. 855-212-4227. That's 855-212-4227.
Do you think the hiring of JJ Redick is a good idea for the Los Angeles Lakers? The phones are open if you want to give me a holler on the other side of the break as well. I'm going to tell you about someone.
Speaking of championships, he won one yesterday, despite a protest. I'll fill you in. It's the JR Sport Brief Show here on the Infinity Sports Network. Right before we went to break, we heard from JJ Reddick, formerly introduced as the newest head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. JJ Reddick pretty much punctuated his entire press conference by saying, yeah, I know. The idea here with the Los Angeles Lakers is to win championships. Well, tonight we know we're going to crown a champion when it comes down to hockey.
It's either going to be the Oilers or it's going to be the Panthers in game seven. We also know that just last week we crowned a champion when it came down to basketball with the Celtics. And now the Lakers have to catch them in 18 overall titles and the Lakers now sit at 17. If I have to think about championships amongst all of the WNBA basketball and all of the hockey and Kaitlyn Clark this and that over the weekend, for all my golf fans out there, Scottie Scheffler was able to wake up and pick up another championship. OK, Scottie Scheffler won the Travelers Championship and he had to wait at the same time for some protesters pretty much at the end at the 18th hole. Scottie Scheffler had to overcome that and waiting to wake up and snatch up this Travelers Championship. He beat Tom Kim in a one hole playoff and after picking up this victory, he's the first player in PGA Tour history to have six wins in a single season before July. This has not been done since Arnold Palmer back in 1962. Unless you've been living underneath a rock, you know what year it is.
It's 2024. And so Scottie Scheffler, this is what he had to say to CBS yesterday, becoming the first golfer to do this since the 60s. Yeah, it's pretty special. You know, it's been a great season. You know, I've been fortunate to come away with some wins and it's been a lot of fun. Tom played his heart out today. He's a great player, great champion. It was fun battling with him today.
He also had some wholesome thoughts. Scottie Scheffler, I mean, he's had quite an eventful hickey. Should I say an eventful few months, a month?
What should I pin it at? Six weeks. Eventful six weeks. So the guy is a dad. He gets arrested. Nothing happens to him, by the way. He got the scared straight experience, right? That's the show, right?
That's a great way to phrase it. Yeah, he got scared. He got scared straight.
Okay. And the police officer had his five seconds of fame and Scottie Scheffler goes on with his life winning millions of dollars by playing golf. What an experience that Scottie Scheffler gets to tell people when he's drunk on, you know, I don't know, Monday nights.
I have no idea. Like tonight. Well, anyway, he was asked about this crazy past few months. Scottie Scheffler detailed what it's like to be out here winning golf tournaments and getting arrested and being a father.
This is what Scheffler said. Yeah, I would say the afternoons when we get home look a little bit different. There's much less sitting around watching TV. It's sitting around trying to figure out what's going on with our little ones, but it's been a ton of fun.
You know, I'm fortunate to be surrounded with great friends out here and it's awesome. Oh, hickey, hickey. Was he getting ready to cry there at the end? Was that what he was doing? Getting choked up. The emotion of the moment got to him.
Oh my God. What a, what a, what an emotional individual. So he wasn't all that emotional when he was asked about the protesters and hickey. I was sitting around. I had the golf on in the background yesterday and I happened to look up and I said, oh, this is a good old fashioned protest. I saw the paint. I saw the crazy people. I saw the police and a Scotty Scheffler. He pretty much said that these people were, were crazy as well.
And I'm like, whoa, wait a minute. Oh no, he called them idiots. Let me be clear.
Couldn't somebody call him an idiot from a few weeks ago when he got arrested? Yeah, he's wanting the same with them, right? Both got a police track record now.
Yeah. These were climate protesters. They wanted to raise awareness for climate change. And a Scotty Scheffler, he had some thoughts on them as well.
This is what he said. Look, when the protesters got on the green, I didn't know what the hell was going on. Fortunately, you know, for Tom and me, we were both out there, you know, we're great friends.
And so we were able to kind of sit there and kind of relax each other before. Cause you don't really know what's going on. You don't really understand the situation. You don't really, you know, there's people running around everywhere and you don't really know what's going to happen. So it's a bit confusing. You know, fortunately, the police did a great job, you know, getting everything in order very quickly.
I don't know how quick it was, but it seemed really fast to us. So we're very thankful for them. Hey, I love the fact that now he loves and compliments the police, right? Except in one city. Yeah. He'll be kissing police ass for the rest of his life everywhere, except for out in Kentucky. What a guy. Hey, congratulations.
He's the world's best golfer right now. He, he withstood the dangers of the climate protesters. I don't know. What were they going to do?
Throw, throw cold water on there? Like, what was he worried about? I don't know. Anyway, congratulations to Scotty Shuffler. I guess June is the season of champs. You get an NBA champ, NHL champ.
We'll find out tonight. Scotty Shuffler is a champ. J.J. Reddick's trying to be a champ. Yeah.
I think I have all the champs covered. Anyway, it's the JR sport reshow here with you on the infinity sports network. 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27.
That's 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27. I got to tell you, Scotty Shuffler, he had a good Sunday. Hickey, you're familiar with this.
I know this is terrible for you. There's a guy on a New York Mets who didn't have a good Sunday. He said he was cheating. We're going to talk about him on the other side of the break, because I thought in baseball, I thought if you ain't cheating, you ain't trying.
But not for a New York Mets. We're going to get into that. We'll talk about the upcoming NBA draft.
Yes, it does exist. The Dallas Cowboys are in the news again because I guess their coach is already sick of their owner. There's a lot that we need to get into. We've talked about a lot of champions so far here in the show. Scottie Scheffler, Celtics, the Lakers are trying to get back to being winners. Tonight we got a Stanley Cup Final. We're going to crown a champ. It's either going to be Florida or Edmonton. And then unfortunately in the world of baseball, there's a team that, well, they're trying to understand.
And they're trying to get to a space of winning, but they just can't. It's the New York Mets. As you've heard about an hour ago, Edwin Diaz officially suspended 10 games for a sticky stuff violation. Now what exactly is a sticky stuff violation? We can talk about it here.
We don't know what it is. But bottom line is, Edwin Diaz last night, the Mets, they beat the Cubs. Congratulations 5-2. Edwin Diaz went out onto the mound, didn't even have a chance or an opportunity to throw a pitch in one of the most ridiculous scenes that you'll see in Major League Baseball right now.
Watching a man walk out onto a field and then be almost strip searched by an umpire is still one of the most hilarious things that I've ever seen in sports. Give me your hands. Let me feel your hair.
Let me see your belt. Hickey, I forgot who it was. Who opened it? Wasn't there a pitcher who opened up his pants to the umpire?
Yes. Oh, I do forget who it was. But they basically took off the belt, threw it on the ground. They made quite the scene. Yeah, this is wild stuff. And Major League Baseball needs to come up with a better explanation and sticky stuff.
And we don't know what the sub-game is. The bottom line is Edwin Diaz went out onto the mound and then he was pretty much tossed out of the game. They said that he was cheating. And Edwin Diaz is like, man, I do the same thing I always do. It's rising, it's sweat, and it's dirt. And the umpires took the approach of, nah, man, I have done this a thousand times.
I've gone out here and felt on hands and wrists and hats and belts. And what you are doing is cheating. And Edwin Diaz last night, he said, man, I do nothing different.
I wasn't cheating at all. Listen to Edwin Diaz. I just say I use the same thing always, rock browsing, sweat. And I put my hand under there a little bit because I need to have some grip on the ball. So that's what I was explaining to them. But they said it was too much stick. They said it was too much stick. His hands were too sticky.
Edwin Diaz, he says, man, I do this all the time. My hands weren't stickier today versus yesterday. He says it's the same.
I think it's the same. They always check me. They always check me and they let me pitch. But today was hotter than early in the season. So I don't know. They thought it was stickier.
So I take the suspension. Hickey, why the New York Mets? This is like, we had Max Scherzer before he got traded last year.
They had another guy in Drew Smith. This is the third time in like a calendar year that a New York Mets pitcher has been busted for the sticky stuff. Yeah, it's infuriating. It's stupidity. It's like, there's no excuse for it at this point.
I don't know how. Like one thing that I'm curious about, like, where's the bullpen coach? Can't there be like someone on the Mets to be like, hey, let me just look at your hand to make sure you're good.
Like with the 10 game suspension that rides with every ejection, you can risk, you know, it even being borderline. But yet here we are, like you said, the third time in what, two years now, the Mets player or Mets pitcher has been suspended. Something has to change. And right now they're paying the price for it. Maybe the New York Mets are advocates of cheating.
I don't know. Well, if you, well, yeah. Barry Bonds would agree. He would.
Barry Bonds would agree. And I say that tongue in cheek. It's just embarrassing. Like everything, does everything like slapstick and not everything, sure.
But do all the slapstick things have to happen to the New York Mets? I mean, it was only a couple of weeks ago that one of their relievers, we had to have a whole conversation as to whether or not he said, my team sucks or I suck. I know one thing he did say. He's like, I don't care if they, if they keep me or not, that's their business.
Like, whoa, what a way to be an advocate for your own job security. I don't care. Oh no, no, not, let me not say that.
It's up to them if they want to bring me back or not. If they do, okay. If not, whoa. Like everything is, this is why they call them the LOL Mets. And I gotta be honest. I don't care how many games you win in a row, having grimace from McDonald's be like a, a marker for your season turnaround.
Can, can, can, can you not make this stuff up? Grimace from McDonald's? Are the Detroit Tigers going to find, I don't know, what's the, is it Tony? Are they going to find Tony the Tiger to throw out the first pitch? Houston Astros, and they're not having a season that they typically have. What are the Astros going to do?
Well, I don't know. Elon Musk, he likes space, like have him throw out the first pitch. This is embarrassing that these things always have to happen to the New York Mets. And then Carlos Mendoza, congratulations. You've been indoctrinated as the new manager.
He's, what a year he's already had to deal with. This is what he said the umpires told him about the sticky hands. It was, they thought it was too much. You know, Diaz kept saying it was rosin, sweat, and dirt. And Vic thought that, you know, he crossed the line there.
And, you know, obviously the rules are the rules. And, you know, they, they made the decision to throw him out. Yeah, they threw him out. Now he's going for 10 games. This is the same Edwin Diaz who was getting smacked around to begin the season.
So much so, they, they, they put the guy down, they put him on the injured list. He comes back. Now, he's only pitched three innings so far, but he hasn't given up a run.
He's found something. He has found a groove. And now that Edwin Diaz has found a groove, he's going to be gone for the next 10 games.
Hickey, I expect him when he comes back, his arm is either going to be tight, sore, broken. It fell off. He forgot how to pitch.
And this is all because he had too much sticky stuff on his hands. It's frustrating. Like you said, he finally got his confidence back and now is another roadblock. The Mets are playing good baseball. Now they shoot themselves in the foot. And it's, it's beyond infuriating because it's so easily preventable. Well, things, it could be worse. You know, the Mets, at least they're relevant enough to be a joke, right? I guess.
Thank you. Yeah. Well, would you rather be a Mets fan or a fan of the ace?
A Mets fan. Definitely. Oh, there you go.
Okay. I think in a world of sports, we have plenty of teams that just can't get out of their way. Historically, not more recently, the Lions were in that category. The Browns were in that category.
They might be going back. We have no idea, but there's this joke that the White Sox are bad. What is the most, what is the most joke of a franchise and professional sports right now?
What would you say? Wow. I mean, is it the Jets? I was gonna say the ace. The Oakland Athletics. Just, just everything that goes on, but just from a pure player organization standpoint, the Jets could be up there too with Aaron, the whole Aaron Rogers debacle. Wow. What a world you gotta be in to be in the same place as the Oakland.
I don't, I don't even know. They stopped calling themselves the Oakland Athletics, right? Are they just the athletics now? You know, I'm going to go to the Oakland Athletics site and I'm going to see if there's anything on the, on the official athletic site that says Oakland.
No, no, no. It just says A's at the top of the website. It just says A's. That's what I probably can't find Oakland anywhere on there.
No. Well, you really can't put a city name because they're moving to Sacramento, then Las Vegas. They're moving every three years.
I mean, what's the point even calling them, just calling the ace. At least on X, it still says Oakland A's. So I'll give them credit.
They kept the city that they're playing right now. We'll be for them. Yeah. Yeah. They're, they're, they're bad.
Yeah. The New York Mets aren't Oakland Athletics bad. The New York Jets have moved. And the bad thing about the Jets is that things can actually get worse and they can get worse soon. We only have to get through this season and we're going to know kind of where things lie for the Jets. They either going to be in the same exact spot next year or they're going to be a disaster.
That's it. I don't know how many more Ayahuasca trips that Aaron Rogers can go on that's going to save or spare the New York Jets from any type of embarrassment. And if things sink, if this does not work out with Aaron Rogers, the New York Jets very quickly, very quickly can end up being like the worst team in the NFL. They may have to clear house. Aaron Rogers might go. General manager might go. Rob Salah might go. I mentioned, yeah, Joe Douglas, he might be gone. Only person who might be sticking around is Woody Johnson. He's the owner of the team. Maybe if the New York Mets bring in Grimace from McDonald's to help them out. Maybe the New York Jets can bring in, I don't know, Hickey. How about the mascot from Burger King?
I don't know if he has a name, but he looks like he could be a good guy you can rally around. The Burger King? Yes, the Burger King. The King. They call him the King, right? I guess you're right.
I think you are right. The King. Bring in the King.
Wow. Now what do you do in football? Would it be like the coin toss?
Because obviously there's no first pitch and there's no like first pass. Well, what's the most famous NFL mascot? What do they do?
That's a good question. The most famous NFL mascot. The Jets don't have one, Giants don't have one. We have one here in Atlanta, Freddie the Falcon. Is he that? He does propel down from the ceiling.
He propels from the, because he's a Falcon of course, right? I don't think the Eagles mascot, I don't think he does anything cool. I think he's just there. We don't even know his name. That's a shame.
That's true. The 49ers mascot, same thing. Just is there.
What's the four? Oh, the gold digger looking guy? That's it. Yeah, the miner. I called him a gold digger.
Technically you're right. He's digging for gold. You know, I don't know. I thought NFL mascots were, oh, the Panther, the Panther, he has a name. Oh, Sir Purr, right?
Yes, he has a stupid name. Sir Purr. So maybe there you go. There's the key to the Jets season. Bring in the king, have him do the opening coin toss, and I think the season will be saved.
They might need the king to play quarterback. He looks athletic. From the commercials, what does he do? Does his face even move? No, oh no, it's all plastic. So that's good though, he won't get hurt. Yeah, well, he might be in better condition than Aaron Rodgers. We're going to find out sooner than later. I don't know. It's something in New York, something in the water, and I don't know, maybe Grimace from McDonald's can turn things around for the Jets too.
Or like you said, just go get the king from Burger King. It's the JR Sport Reshow here with you on the Infinity Sports Network, 855-212-4227. We're going to take a break.
