And if you're holding it down, you know what I mean. I'm going to be here with you for the next four hours. This is when I get started every weeknight, 10 p.m. Eastern Time, 7 p.m. Pacific. I'm in Atlanta, Georgia.

Our super producer and host, Dave Shepherd, he's in New York City. And you? I'm just glad that you're here listening. We got a lot to get into. We've had a busy 24 hours from Thursday Night Football where the Cincinnati Bengals lost to the Ravens. It's official. Joe Burrow is out for the season. He don't just got a sprained wrist. This man got a torn ligament in his wrist. He's done.

He's finished. Mark Andrews, broken bone in his leg. Mark Andrews, don't expect to see him the rest of this season. Maybe if they're lucky, maybe, maybe they see him at the end of the year.

Maybe. Russell Westbrook woke up this morning and said, hey, put me off the bench. You don't have to start me in the lineup with James Harden and Paul George and Kawhi Leonard. Let those guys play in the starting lineup. Just pull me off the bench.

What an honorable man, Russell Westbrook. We'll talk about some of the upcoming NFL games over the weekend. Obviously, some major changes here in the AFC North with the Browns missing their quarterback, Deshaun Watson. I mean, they're looking at Joe Flacco.

What? Now Joe Burrow is out. Are you going to trust Kenny Pickett to do anything with the Steelers? Ravens are sitting pretty right now. We're going to get into it. Michigan hoping to sit pretty against Maryland.

We'll get into that. Bradley Beal out for the next three weeks. He got a back injury. What is he, the new Ben Simmons? Bradley Beal. I don't think that, Shep, have they played one game?

Durant, Beal, and Booker? No, right? That's a great question.

I have no idea. I don't think they have not played one game together. Not one. No, they haven't played one game.

Ridiculous. Kirk Cousins spoke to the media today. We know Kirk Cousins done for the season. He talked about his future, especially on the heels of free agency.

There's so much we need to get into, and I want to talk about this later on in the show. I know, the Oakland Athletics, we got to wait for them to go to Vegas in 2028, maybe sooner than that. There's an F1 race happening in Vegas this weekend. They've actually built a, not a special track, but yeah, they've laid down special asphalt just to be able to put those F1 race cars out there for them to go 200 miles per hour, 200 plus miles per hour on the streets of Vegas. And so Vegas is a race track right now.

It's like a video game, and we'll get into that later on in the show. If you want to talk to me, it's real simple. The phone number is 855-212-4CBS.

That's 855-212-4CBS. You can find me on the internet. I am at JR Sportbrief everywhere, all over the place online.

That is Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. I'm happy to be here, as I told you, from Atlanta, Georgia. I stepped into the studio not too long ago, and before I got here, I was hanging out downtown Atlanta at State Farm Arena. I was watching this man, Joel Embiid, go out there and torture the Atlanta Hawks. The Atlanta Hawks, we know, and unfortunately, at least for me, they are a 500 team.

They sit in the middle. Tonight, they just lost 126 to 116 in the playing tournament, and I wanted to see Joel Embiid. Tonight was the first time I've ever seen him in person. I got some footage of him, if you want to check out my Twitter or Instagram, JR Sportbrief, real up close and personal, as he worked out. Man, he is quick as hell for as big as he is, but then he's also slow as hell when he gets out onto the perimeter.

He hit a step back three at one point in time, and I said, that is the slowest step back three I've ever seen in my life, and he just gets it off. Joel Embiid tonight, 32 points, 8 assists, 7 rebounds. Maxie, 19. Okay, who cares? Trae Young, 22.

Murray, 13. Ain't nobody thinking about the Hawks, unfortunately, except for me. Hey, Shep, have you seen Embiid in person? I wish. You know, who am I to say he's...say again? No, I didn't say anything.

I said I wish, and then I was all ears. Oh, no, he's slimmer than what I thought. I mean, he's big as hell. He's the biggest dude out there on the court, but he's in good shape, and he is a massive human being, and he's very skilled, so it's good to see him up close and personal. Of course, the last time he was said to visit here in Atlanta, he ain't play.

It's Joel Embiid, so where can you be surprised at that? And unfortunately, speaking of not playing, I just told you, Joe Burrow is done for the season. The announcement came from his head coach, Zach Taylor, earlier today, and he made it very clear that we won't see him.

Listen to this. He had an acute injury yesterday, likely on the play before his last one, where he tore a ligament in his wrist that will likely require surgery and require him to be up for the rest of the season, so we're still gathering more information on that, but that seems to be where it's headed right now. He's not going to say it. He can't say it. He's the head coach of the team.

He's the leader of the team. I can say it. The Bengals are done.

They're cooked. Like, I don't give a damn about a Bengals game. I'll pop in here and there to see how they're performing with their new lead quarterback in Jake Browning. Last time this dude got any type of extensive playing time, he was still out at Washington, but the Bengals are over.

It's done. I mean, it looked like Joe Burrow was on his way to rounding into form, coming off of another injury. We know he had to deal with that calf strain that kind of lingered all the way, starting from training camp. Didn't participate in training camp because he strained that calf, and then it looked like it bled into the beginning of the season, where he looked immobile.

But over the past couple of games, he's been able to pick it up. So far this season, 2,300 yards passing, 15 touchdowns to 6 interceptions, and that's where the numbers are going to end for Joe Burrow. I mean, we know about the torn ACL in 2020. Last year in the training camp period, he ruptured his appendix, and now this year it's a calf strain. And now it's his wrist. And I don't know what it is next year, but people should legitimately be concerned about Joe Burrow and his ability to stay healthy. Especially the fact that they just gave him a contract that makes him the highest paid QB in the game on an annual basis.

$55 million a year. Joe Burrow, he spoke after Zach Taylor made the announcement, and he told everybody, this is how I hurt my wrist. The play before it happened, I landed on the wrist a little bit, and then the next play, touchdown pass, just felt the pop in the middle of the throw.

Tried to give it a go, but just couldn't get it done, and obviously got the news today, so not great. And one thing that can't get swept under the rug here is that footage that we saw, or maybe you saw it, or I know I saw it, of him stepping off of the team plane or the bus in transit, and he had like a glove or sleeve or a wrap on his hand, which would lead you to believe that there was some type of injury before the game even started. It wasn't on the injury report.

The team, the Cincinnati Bengals actually posted the video of him wearing that wrap, but it wasn't prominent, you had to really take a look, and then the video was down. He wasn't on the injury report, but then he goes down last night and now he has a torn ligament in his hand. The NFL is actually investigating why and what the hell happened that he wasn't on the injury report, but despite that, and we know if anything happens where he wasn't there, he might receive a fine, or he won't receive a fine, the team will receive a fine. Now at one point in time, Mike Tomlin and the Steelers, you know, they were fined $25,000 and $50,000 for not disclosing an injury.

It's pocket change for a team, even a cheapskate team like the Bengals. And so Jerboro, I guess he's keeping a positive attitude about all of this, because while he spoke to the media, he's just sounded matter of fact. He's like, listen, it's football. People are going to get hurt, including me. You work so hard for seasons and moments like these, so whenever you get hurt and it ends it early, it's tough to handle, but that's part of the game, been through it before, so just got to grind it out. Yeah, it's just part of the game. Got to grind it out.

Got to deal with anything, got to deal with it. You know, I mentioned that glove that he was wearing. Whether or not he came into the game with a pre-existing injury, Joe Burrow was asked about that as well.

Why the hell you wearing a glove, a brace, a wrap? This is what Joe Burrow had to say. Okay, well anyway, Joe Burrow kept on. He was asked about the man that replaced him last night, Jake Browning. Joe Burrow was asked, how the hell is he going to do in your place, your.500?

What the hell is going to happen? Very even-keeled. He's never too up or too down. I think that's how you have to be as a quarterback. He's a big resource for me when I'm out there because I know that he's so even-keeled. I know he sees the game similarly to how I do, and so we have great dialogue on game day. If he's out there, he's going to do great.

That's cute. And that's nice coming from the starting quarterback. You want to just evoke as much confidence as possible from the backup QB. That's it. But we know this, and Jake Browning knows this, and maybe he can wally pip the situation, highly unlikely, paying this dude $55 million a year. He's not Joe Burrow. They're done.

I'm sorry. I mean, let's be real here. They're cooked. The Cincinnati Bengals play in the AFC North. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to think about the other talent in the division. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to look at how everybody else is performing and go, how the hell are they going to overcome this? It would have been difficult for them to do that, even if Joe Burrow was healthy.

Okay. The Baltimore Ravens sit at the top of the AFC North. They got a record of eight and three. Pittsburgh is six and three. Cleveland six and three. Cleveland is probably going to go down into the tubes because, let's be real, they bring in Joe Flacco for workouts.

Come on now. Cincinnati has a dude that a lot of people have never heard of, and Pittsburgh has Kenny Pickett. It was only a couple of days ago that Mike Tomlin was telling everybody, oh, yeah, well, if you didn't know this, Kenny Pickett, he needs to step it up.

He needs to do better. And so Baltimore is going to cruise throughout the rest of this season, even though they don't have Mark Andrews. And the AFC North, oh, yeah, it's tough. We'll see some close games.

You might see a defensive matchup here and there. But this is for the Ravens. And the Bengals, they're just going to have to wait until next year.

And God forbid that Jake Browning even performs like a decent QB. They still ain't winning nothing. This season is a wash.

It's over. Cincinnati's next game is going to be against Pittsburgh. I give them a loss.

The next game after that is going to be against Jacksonville. I would give them a loss. Indianapolis, I'd give them a loss.

Minnesota, yeah, who knows what Josh Dobbs is doing at that time. I'd give them a loss. Pittsburgh, I'd give them a loss. Kansas City, I would give them a loss. And then they face off and end the season against Cleveland. Yeah, Cleveland versus Kansas City.

Who cares at that point? Both teams are going to be done. And Joe Burrow, unfortunately, this is what he's dealt with over the past few years.

Real highs, real lows. In 2018, he transfers from Ohio State, goes down to the Red Baton Baton Rouge. In 2019, he wins a national championship.

This dude is throwing like 60 touchdowns. He gets drafted into the NFL. And then he goes down with a knee injury, torn ACL, MCL. In 2021, he goes to the Super Bowl. Last season, another slow start, but they go to the AFC championship game and they lose to the Chiefs. And this season, he won't even see it through because Joe Burrow is done with a torn ligament in his wrist. I can tell you one team I won't be following all that much anymore the rest of the year, the Bengals.

I'm going to pop in and see what's going on. I'm going to pop the hell back on out. No Joe Burrow, no me. At least he got that contract. $55 million a year coming his way.

$219 million guaranteed. If I was Joe Burrow, huh, I wouldn't be too worried about the future either. No wonder he sounds so relaxed. Yeah, let's hear from Joe Burrow if that brace had anything to do with the break. This is a completely different, different thing. You know, it's not uncommon for guys to wear compression sleeves on playing because when you go up to that altitude, you know, things can swell up. You know, football, you have a lot of bumps and bruises. This is a completely new injury.

Okay, possible. Very, very much so. Something was going on in there, right?

You've been wearing a sleeve on your hand every time you fly? I think we would have heard about it. Good luck to the Cincinnati Bengals next year. And good luck to Joe Burrow now in his recovery. At least with that one hand, that left hand, he could count the $55 million he's going to get this year.

Good luck in your return, man. It sucks when the best aren't out there playing. Yeah, maybe, maybe Browning has something in store for us.

It'd be a nice story but unlikely. It's the JR Sport Brief Show here with you on CBS Sports Radio. The phone number is open. The phone lines are open. 855-212-4CBS.

That's 855-212-4CBS. We have so much more to get into this Friday night. Russell Westbrook says, hey coach, I'll come off the bench. Kirk Cousins, we know he ain't playing for the rest of the season with his own injury. He might be in another uniform next season and Kirk Cousins spoke. Carissa Thompson, she explained what the hell she meant earlier this week. So it doesn't appear that she, she lied. She clarified her comment.

Oh, okay, whatever the hell that means. Michigan is getting ready to take on Maryland. We'll talk about the best teams in the AFC with all these damn quarterbacks getting hurt. We'll talk about Mark Andrews and how about this on the other side of the break. I just told you Cincinnati is going to end their regular season against the Cleveland Browns.

The Browns are looking for their own quarterback help with no Deshaun Watson. I'll tell you about it on the other side of the break. We're just getting warmed up.

We're just getting started. It's the JR Sport Brief Show, CBS Sports Radio. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief on CBS Sports Radio. Now at 855-212-4CBS.

That's 855-212-4227. It's the JR Sport Brief Show here on CBS Sports Radio. Unfortunately, the NFL right now, they got a quarterback problem. Quarterbacks are dropping like flies.

Season ending injuries, time off. Kirk Cousins is gone. Joe Burrow is gone. Deshaun Watson is gone. There's a big old focus here in the AFC North, especially knowing that Joe Burrow and Deshaun Watson, they play in the same division. And so we talked about Joe Burrow out for the season with that torn ligament in his wrist. The Cincinnati Bengals are currently 5-5. And yeah, good luck getting into the playoffs and even more good luck if they should actually make it there.

I don't expect it. Joe Burrow sitting on $219 million guaranteed even if he never plays another game. And so I think Joe Burrow will be fine. On the other hand, the Browns, they're still trying to get their money out of Deshaun Watson. They gave him $230 million guaranteed.

Flat and period. We know last season he missed six games due to his suspension. And now as we move forward in this season, Deshaun Watson is out with a broken bone in his shoulder.

And so he's done. You know, you thought it was going to be his ankle high, ankle sprain. That was one injury. But the shoulder is putting him out of commission. And so not only is Cincinnati throwing out Jake Browning, but now we have the Cleveland Browns getting ready to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday. And they're throwing out a rookie from UCLA in Dorian Thompson Robinson. And he played two games last month against Baltimore.

He got smashed 28-3. He threw three interceptions against the Ravens, arguably the NFL's best defense. And they also have P.J.

Walker on the team who's also played in relief of Deshaun Watson when he's gone down. And he has one touchdown and five interceptions and two starts. And so this is not a pretty situation right now for the Browns who are in a better position in Cincinnati.

The Browns are 6-3. But they need some experience, right? They need a veteran, don't they? The trade deadline has come and gone.

So what do you do? You bring in Joe Flacco for a workout. Joe Flacco is expected to sit down and throw the rock around, not just sit for the Browns. Maybe he'll be added to the practice squad. Maybe he'll be elevated to the roster.

Tom will tell. Joe Flacco is 38. We have not seen this man throw a football since last season. He played five games for the New York Jets because the Jets are a disaster. He has spent the past three seasons with the New York Jets as a backup. And we don't know what the hell he's going to do.

He's like, it also ran out at this point. He's decent, but he ain't doing nothing. He's not changing no games. And we know about Super Bowl MVPs. We know about the contract that the Ravens gave him. But there's nothing exciting about Joe Flacco. But Elijah Moore, former New York Jet, now with the Browns, he's on the Browns because he didn't feel he was getting enough playing time with the Jets. Elijah Moore, he had some positive words for Joe Flacco.

Listen. Leader. You know, I feel like he has a lot of experience. He knows football.

And how could you not want to lean on somebody who knows football? You know, they played the game for a long time at a very, very high level. The highest level. MVP level, you know, so major respect to him.

It's nice. He has a nice resume. I don't know what that resume from 10 years ago is going to do for him now.

I think the answer is nothing. When did he play at an MVP level, JR, with the exception of one great Super Bowl run? When was he an MVP? That's what he's talking about. Okay, got it. Can you give him a break, Shep?

Damn. Well, you said Joe Flacco's decent. And when have you ever heard someone in the last three years, besides you, say Joe Flacco is decent? He was talking about he's decent. He can go out there and play. That's it. He's decent if you need someone reliable in a practice squad, JR.

The guy can't move. Well, that's my point. Shep, stop splitting hairs, bruh. Okay, okay. Damn, sheesh.

It's just a statue. That's all I'm saying. Yeah, he doesn't do it. Yeah, he's decent. He exists. Okay? Okay. Damn, Shep.

We know he hasn't played. I said that as well. Sheesh. Yes, I'm sorry.

I just thought that was a little high phrase for Flacco these days. That's all. You see, he exists. Give him a break. He does exist.

I'll give you that. Elijah Moore talked about his experience. The man did win a Super Bowl MVP and parlayed that into a contract, okay? Elijah Moore was in middle school back then, though. Yeah, well, I'm sure he was catching passes then, okay?

Exactly. Damn. We know Joe Flacco exists, man. 855-212-4CBS.

It's 855-212-4CBS. I wouldn't be surprised if they put him out there. You got two quarterbacks. PJ Walker might as well be an XFL extension here. Dorian Thompson Robinson, he gonna need some time to develop and now they have to go ahead and do it on the fly and the Browns are a team that's trying to make the postseason. So, Joe Burrow can go out there and throw the ball.

He ain't gonna wow anybody and God knows what he looks like right now at 38. I mean, he's not on a roster. I mean, he has been waiting for something like this to happen for a team to lose its QB and say, alright, it's my time to shine and let's be real even if they decide to sign him over the weekend. He ain't just gonna pop out there onto the field and play. It's gonna take him a few weeks to get acclimated to the offense and for the Browns, it's unfortunate. They've lost Conklin for the year on the offensive line. They don't have Nick Chubb. This would be a totally different situation if they were able to go out there and hand the ball off.

It's not where they're at right now. 855-212-4CBS. Doug is calling from San Diego. You're on CBS Sports Radio. What's up, Doug? Hey, JR, man. How you guys doing and thanks for taking my call, bro. Well, thank you for being here. What's on your mind?

Listen, man. You know, this Joe Burrows thing, it's bothering me and I'm gonna tell you why. It's, you know, I'm a working stiff, alright?

You know, I've worked my butt off and everything and I don't make not even a fraction of the money these guys are making. And yet, if I get injured outside of work, I'm injured and I got a goal and disability and that kind of thing, right? But these guys, man, you know, Joe Burrow, I saw the video. He walks in there with that brace and I'm telling you, that was not just a protective sleeve from swelling or any of that stuff, man. He had an injury and no one knows about it and he made it out in the game. All the money that they're paying that man, okay?

I'm sorry, man, but, you know, I go... I'm assuming, I'm assuming he hurt himself in Sunday's game against Houston, okay? Are you assuming that he just woke up and rolled out of bed and injured his hand? Like, he plays football for a living.

It's dangerous by nature. No, I'm not assuming that and you know what happens when you assume. You make an ass out of yourself, so I'm trying to follow your point. You're saying that he makes...

Okay, my point is, my point is, is that he had an injury that maybe was outside of football. But that's the point that I'm saying. You are assuming that.

Why would you assume such? Well, and this is the reason that they're signing the contract. They're making all that money. I'm not signing the contract.

I'm not making that kind of money. Even if I was signing the contract for making $60,000 a year, the point is, they don't do workers comp like as normal guys do, you know, the guys that are working. Listen, listen, I know where you're going, JR, but it sounds to me like he was already hurt. Yeah, it could have been from previous injury, but dammit, you've got to explain that to your staff and to the medical staff.

And why was he even out there? Why wasn't he on the injury list? Well, that is more of a valid point.

Everything outside of that is just an idea that we could pull out of a sky and that there's no evidence of. I think it makes much, much more sense to think about a football player, to think about a quarterback who has an injured hand and a wrist to assume that he injured his hand and his wrist in a football game as opposed to away from the team. Like, I can sit around, and thank you, Doug, for calling from San Diego. I'm not sitting here trying to do anything. I can say to myself, as I sit in the studio right now and the Phoenix Suns are beating Utah 29 to 18, I can assume that Bradley Beal's back injury, I can assume that, oh, he injured his back, you know, I don't know, lifting up boxes at home and now he's out for three weeks. Maybe the guy ought to bust it up back because he's been shooting all them damn shots for the Wizards all those years.

Like, come on, like, what are we going to do? I'm going to assume a professional athlete has injured themselves more often than not by playing a sport, especially football. I mean, how many games have you sat down and watched where a quarterback delivers a pass and has helmets flying his damn way and he hits his hand on a helmet? And so please, spare me with the, well, maybe Joe Burrow injured himself away from the football field.

Unless you got some pure concrete evidence to the contrary, like, why are we even thinking about it? Like, what was he doing? Was he riding his bicycle? Was he washing his bike like Jeff Kent? Like, we got to think about him, oh my God, he injured himself away from the game?

Listen, if he did that, tell me about it when there's some type of evidence surrounding it. And maybe that could very well be true. He might have got hurt.

Cincinnati Bengals didn't know about it. And now he has a sleeve on and now he's trying to hide this. That could very well be true. Let me know when there's a little bit more smoke before I sit down and go, well, what happened? Oh, well, he hurt himself away. So that's why he wasn't on the injury report. Look, we got a guy in the NBA on the Sixers right now who claimed that he got hit by a car. And they're saying that there's no video evidence that he got hit by said car.

And so what do we believe? Nick Nurse had to sit up there and answer questions about it. And Nick Nurse is like, man, until I have some evidence to believe that it didn't happen, what do you want me to do? He's had a rough season so far, JR. What, Nick Nurse? In terms of having to answer questions on the season, they've been great. But he's had a rough season in terms of what he's had to answer, yes. Oh, he's had to deal with James Harden questions.

Yes. Well, we know Philadelphia is a special place. And now you've got to answer questions about dudes getting hit by imaginary cars. Like, it could be true. But let's not, let somebody else, not me, I ain't going to do it. Let somebody else come up with the what-ifs and the conspiracy theories. I'm living in reality.

And until I have more evidence, then, yeah, sure, I believe anything could be possible. But let it bleed out a little bit more. Damn. 855-212-4CBS. That's 855-212-4CBS. The next thing I know, somebody's going to tell me, Joe Burrow, you know, he broke his hand in the drive-thru, and reaching for the food, and now he slammed his hand in the window by mistake, and now he's missing action because he aggravated the injury when he fell to the ground. Tell TMZ to get me the footage from the drive-thru window. It's the JR Sportbree Show here on CBS Sports Radio.

It's 855-212-4CBS, 855-212-4CBS. We're going to take a break. When we come back, we're going to talk about an injury that did take place, and there is footage of it.

I don't need to think about what took place. We watched it. Mark Andrews going down with a broken leg. His coach saw it, too.

And his coach wasn't happy with the tackle that broke his leg. We'll hear from John Harbaugh on the other side of the break. I'm going to get to your calls. You're listening to the JR Sportbrief on CBS Sports Radio. You're listening to the JR Sportbrief on CBS Sports Radio. And I just thank you for educating me on all these sports.

Call in now at 855-212-4CBS. It's the JR Sportbree Show here on CBS Sports Radio. I mean, we've been focusing so much on the quarterbacks that have gone down via injury that we can't forget last night that Mark Andrews went down as well for the Ravens, and that is a very big deal for Lamar Jackson. We know that Mark Andrews somehow, some way, he typically is always open in the middle of the field, ready to, he's like an escape hatch. And he's out. He has a cracked fibula. I wouldn't expect to see him for the rest of the season. Maybe if the Ravens go on one deep hell of a run, maybe, maybe, maybe we'll see him again.

I'm not going to necessarily expect that. And so even though the Ravens, the benefit for them is that they're sitting at the top of the AFC North, they're going to have to rely on Isaiah Lightley to fill in the gap, which is not going to be an easy thing. And there's also some controversy, I guess you could call it controversy, when it comes to how Mark Andrews went down last night. Logan Wilson went to go ahead and tackle him, pulled him down at the waist from behind, and so Mark Andrews fell forward while Logan Wilson fell on his legs. And that resulted in this busted up ankle, this cracked fibula, this broken bone in his leg.

And it's not the first time we've seen this. Patrick Mahomes injured himself in the same manner last year. And so there's been some talks, and you might have heard it on television, people may be arguing about it here on the radio as well, as to whether or not this type of tackle needs to be outlawed. Now, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh, he talked about it, and this is what he had to say. On the tackle by the Cincinnati defender, it looked like it was a hip drop tackle, which is a controversial type of tackle, I guess, and it's been talked about. Is that representative to you at all of hip drop tackles, or have you noted that at all? Well, yeah, it was definitely a hip drop tackle, to your point, and it is being discussed. It's a tough tackle.

It was even necessary in that situation. The other one on the sideline, there's always plays that you send in to the league to have them look at and interpret for you. Well, I mean, are they going to switch this up? Are we going to have an NFL competition committee and rules committee come through and say you can't tackle a guy like this? I don't know. How the hell else are you supposed to bring the dude down? You're going to try to grab him by the belt, grab him by the waist?

I don't know. Like, we're going to see these injuries in football. It's not a horse collar because you're not grabbing a dude from inside of the pads and the neck. You're grabbing him down at the waist, and there's going to come a point in time where it's just like, well, how can you hit a dude?

Like, are we really going to be playing flag football? You know, you don't want to tackle a guy down at the knees. You don't want to be dirty. You don't want to target him in the head. You want to get him in the chest.

You want to wrap him up and you want to bring him down. And so, look, the opportunity was there for him to grab Mark Andrews at his waist and bring him down. And it prevented and stopped Mark Andrews from going into the end zone. And within the rules, it's not dirty. And I guess if we keep playing football for the next 50 years, if the NFL can exist for that long, we won't have any tackles that are allowable.

You won't be able to hit anybody. It's pretty sad. Lamar Jackson, we heard him after the game last night talking about losing Mark Andrews. I was just telling the crew out there, the primetime crew or whatever, that that's the guy who I entered the league with.

You know, we've been bread and butter, peanut butter and jelly, whatever you want to call it. But that's very tough because that's my boy. That's like receiver one sometimes, you know. For him to go out for his quarter, you know, and he's been having a remarkable year. One touchdown away from a record, I think. That's tough, man. But we got to, we got to somehow do it without him. We got Likley, we got Charlie, we got guys who are going to step up.

But it's tough. Yes, it's going to be real tough to try to pick up that slack. He already has six touchdowns as a red zone threat here in the regular season. I think the Ravens will be fine as we go throughout the year. They're going to miss him when they get to the postseason. I think the Ravens will be perfectly fine.

I'd love to see them get into an AFC championship game and then just kind of roll the dice from there. 855-212-4CBS. It's 855-212-4CBS.

D is calling from Washington State. You're on the JR Sport Brief Show. Hey, JR. Glad to have me, man. Glad you had me on. First time listener. I'll never not listen to you again.

But right now I'm looking at you sideways. He's decent? Joe Flacco is decent. Yes, I find him to be a decent veteran option. Yes, he ain't winning you a game.

He ain't winning you a game. Can I finish? Go ahead. Go ahead. You asked me a question. I'm answering. Are you going to talk with me or allow me to finish?

The floor is yours, sir. He's decent. He ain't winning you a game. He ain't losing you a game. He can show up and play. And that said, I'm not expecting anything more or less from him. I'm with Chef. He's garbage without a can.

The guy down in the mailroom is decent. You better results from Joe Namath at Happy RITG Friday, man. We all know Harbaugh on the defense and Ray Lewis won those games. Those championships. Flacco just was just holding the bag. Made to look good. Kind of like Peyton at Denver when they won.

You know what? Miller won that Super Bowl. If you go if you go ahead and look at all those years that he played, he was he was decent. He was he was an average quarterback.

I don't I don't see any difference now. He's 38 years old. We know age doesn't necessarily work for anybody. It doesn't work in your favor unless I guess you're Tom Brady. And for a team that doesn't have a veteran option right now with QB, he can go out there and take a snap. That's that's all I need him to do.

He may not even get to that point. All right. Well, I appreciate you letting me be on, man. And I'm not going to ask you five questions.

And have you pissed off like the guy the other night? Well, he didn't ask five questions. It was four. Thank you. Appreciate you. All right, brother. No doubt.

Thank you, D, for calling from Washington State. Yeah, when I say decent, I'm not expecting Joe Flacco to do anything. I'm not expecting the let me be clear. I'm not expecting the Browns to do anything if they sign him or not. I also think this season is done. I mean, if Dorian Thompson Robinson is going to. Well, we know he would add an added element, but one element that they don't want him to add is turnovers. And that's typically what you get when you have a young QB. And so it doesn't matter if they add Burrow or excuse me, if they add Joe Flacco, if they decide to throw XFL PJ Walker out there or they stick with a rookie like they're done.

OK, Mark Andrews is also done. Unfortunately, I believe with the Ravens, the Ravens are the team that's going to the postseason. The Ravens are the team that you should probably care or think about.

And anybody else after that, it'll take a little bit of a miracle. But given the information that we have right now, what would you expect it from Cincinnati? Nothing. What are you expecting from the Browns? Nothing. What are you expecting from the Steelers?

Nothing. I expect the Steelers just to be good because it's typically what they do, but not to win anything. Kenny Pickett, do me a favor. Let me know when Kenny Pickett knows how to find Pickens and can also find Washington.

Washington is almost M.I.A. from the end zone. He hasn't really seen the end zone on a consistent basis since Ben Roethlisberger disappeared.

That's been a while now. Ben Roethlisberger is sitting around doing podcasts just like everybody else. It's a tough world in the AFC North. Tough in the AFC. It's tough being a quarterback. It's the J.R.R. sport brief show here with you on CBS Sports Radio.

We're going to take a break when we come back. I'm going to list you all of the damn QBs who have already been hurt this season. It's a lot of them. And then when you take a look at the AFC specifically.

Like who are the best teams? Like who's sitting at the top of the totem pole with all of these injuries? We're going to talk about it on the other side.

I'll get your calls as well. It's the J.R.R. sport brief show.
