JR can't believe the immaturity when it comes to Jim Irsay in his dealings with Jonathan Taylor

It is the JR Sport Brief show on CBS Sports Radio. Happy Tuesday night. I hope you had a good one, a good day, a good night, a good evening. I just hope you're good.

I'm good. I'm going to be here with you for the next four hours. This is the start of the show. 10 p.m. Eastern Time.

7 p.m. Pacific. We are broadcasting all over North America. We are broadcasting. People are reaching us all over the world on the free Odyssey app. Hundreds of local affiliates all over the United States of America. People listening in on Sirius XM Channel 158.

And smart speakers. CBSSportsRadio.com. Anywhere that you want audio this damn show, it is. Me, I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you to everybody listening and locked in wherever you may be all over the country, the world.

Got a lot to do over the next four hours. Thank you to super producer and host Dave Shepherd. He's joining us live from New York City. At this very moment, this very second, in the next hour, we're going to find out how much of an embarrassment the New York Jets are or are not. Because tonight is the debut of HBO Hard Knocks, the New York Jets edition. And so where the Jets have always been a little bit of a laughing stock in the NFL, tonight they have an opportunity to advance that narrative or maybe put it to rest. Especially with Aaron Rodgers now at the helm. Congratulations to the New York Jets and Aaron Rodgers actually receiving positive attention. You got to appreciate it.

You really do. Anyway, somebody not receiving positive attention. Well, two teams in baseball not receiving positive attention. You got the White Sox who already have a losing record.

I mean, there are more and more stories coming up about how they are just a trap of an organization that lacks discipline and any type of leadership. You got All-Star players getting knocked down to the ground. You have players sleeping in the bullpen. You have players slapping each other in the clubhouse. It sounds, sounds fun being a member of the White Sox, doesn't it? And then you have the Baltimore Orioles, who, by the way, they said that Kevin Brown is reportedly returning on Friday. Tonight in Camden Yards, the fans were chanting free Kevin Brown. Oh yeah, this is, this is a big story.

Like I said last night, speaking of Baltimore, let's go a little further north. Let's talk about the commanders. Damn, what is going on with these guys? Eric Bienemy is hurting feelings. Eric Bienemy is getting on people's nerves. Eric Bienemy has the players being soft. He tells them that they need to grow up and be men.

Jonathan Taylor isn't working out with the Colts anymore. He's like, screw rehab here. I'm not doing this. ESPN is getting into gambling gambling in a major way.

They tell Barstool, well, basically they're going to be replacing Barstool Sportsbooks, I will explain later on in the show. So we got a lot to discuss, a lot to talk about, and we're just getting started. You would know all of this if you follow me online. I am on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

That is at JR Sport Brief at JR Sport Brief everywhere on social media. And if you want to call me up, you can feel free to do that as well. That's 855-212-4CBS.

That's 855-212-4CBS. Shep, how are you this evening? No complaints, JR. How about yourself? Good, good to hear, man.

I'm very well. But let's not waste any time. I just mentioned Jonathan Taylor. He walked away from the Colts today. No, he didn't take his ball and go home. No, he didn't quit. No, he didn't say he was going to hold out. No, he did not go the Le'Veon Bell route and say, I ain't playing this year.

He didn't do any of that. Jonathan Taylor said, I am exiting the Indianapolis Colts to go rehab on my own for a few days. And so if you've been living underneath a rock, Jonathan Taylor wants a new contract. Jonathan Taylor is playing on the last year of his rookie deal. Two seasons ago, Jonathan Taylor led the league in rushing in addition to having 18 touchdowns.

Last season, he had another good year, but unfortunately, he busted up his ankle. With all of the conversations surrounding running backs this offseason, your Saquon Barkley's of the world not receiving their new contracts, your Josh Jacobs of the world from the Raiders not receiving new contracts, being franchise tagged, we've seen the depression of the running back market. And the Indianapolis Colts owner, who was never shy in running his yap, whether it be on Twitter or social media, whether he's crapping on Daniel Snyder, which is, you know, I think Daniel's not always deserved it, or whether he's responding to another player in the league and Najee Harris about salaries, he has rubbed Jonathan Taylor the wrong way this entire process. I mean, he's gone as much as far to say, you know what, if I die today and Jonathan Taylor wasn't in the NFL, the league would go on. I don't think Jonathan Taylor took kindly to those words and he stepped away from the team. He is still holding out hope that they give him a new contract. Unfortunately for the Indianapolis Colts, they are very likely to run out a rookie running back in Anthony Richardson.

I don't care how big, how strong, how fast, how athletic he is, to have a, a safety valve, to have a backup plan, which is an A plus plan in regards to handing the ball off to Jonathan Taylor, that would be ideal. And so let's be clear. The Indianapolis Colts weren't going a damn place this year. They weren't. Indianapolis Colts weren't going to shock and wow or surprise anybody. They were just going to try to stay alive in the AFC South. That's their lot in life, but it's going to be difficult to do so without one of the best running backs in the entire NFL.

And you know who else has to deal with this? A first year head coach in Shane Steichen. He just came over from the Philadelphia Eagles. They just went to the Super Bowl.

Yeah, they didn't win it, but this is the crap he has to deal with, with his first appearance as a coach, his first goal round. And by the way, the Colts have their first preseason game this week. Their second backup running back, Zach Morris got a broken arm.

The Colts are a bunch of losers before the season even gets started. Shane Steichen today speaking to reporters and going back and forth and back and forth. He had to talk about a guy who isn't even on the team right now.

He left. Yeah, this is part of his rehab process. If you guys don't see him out here as part of his rehab. Is he rehabbing here on site or somewhere else?

Like I'll refrain from getting into that, but yeah. Yeah, if you don't see him back here out on the field, it's because he's rehabbing. So what is his health status? Yeah, yeah, he's got an ankle and he's rehabbing his ankle. And like I said, once the medical staff clears him and he's a hundred percent, he'll be out on practice.

Has there been much progress? Yeah, I think he's in a good spot and we're going from there. Do you think you'll practice during camp? Yeah, I'd like to see that. We'll see how it all plays out though. Again, once he's cleared, he'll be out here.

How much you want to get into? Not much apparently, but is this the original injury, the original surgery or did you do something? Yeah, he's just, he's got the ankle. It's the ankle. Yeah. It's the ankle. Yeah.

Yeah. It's the ankle. He hurt his ankle.

Yep. It's his ankle. Did he hurt it yesterday or today? It's his ankle.

It's his ankle. Shane Steichen, it's like he's talking to his spouse. It's like he's talking to his partner. It's like he walked in the door after being gone for four days and has to answer 21 questions. Damn.

Nobody wants to come to work with their new job and be asked all of these questions. He's getting paid millions of dollars, so I guess it makes it alright, but damn. What a welcome to the NFL as a head coach.

That was today. No clarity on Jonathan Taylor and his ankle if you couldn't tell. Not available, not around, it's his ankle. When he hurt it, what he hurt it, it's all irrelevant. It's just his ankle.

And oh yeah, by the way, the Indianapolis Colts started to leak information that he came and arrived to training camp and it wasn't just his ankle, but it was also his back and his leg and he hurt himself in off season and it was not football, so they may withhold all of his money. This is messy. This is like Mari Povich. It's like Jerry Springer. Hey Shep, Jerry Springer, he passed away, right? You were correct, sir.

Okay, yeah. I was going to say maybe Jonathan Taylor and the Indianapolis Colts, they could solve this on Jerry Springer. Possibly. Shane Steichen, this isn't the first go around that he's had to answer these dumbass questions.

They're not dumb, but just the same old questions. It was a few weeks ago that a reporter posed to him like, what's going on with Jonathan Taylor? Shane, as you guys plan, are you expecting JT to play this year for you? Yeah, right now he's on this football team. He's on this football team and when the medical staff clears him, he should be out here.

Oh my God. Nothing worse than a distraction caused internally, not by another player, not by another coach, but by the owner of the organization. We talked about this last night with the Baltimore Orioles, that the Angelos family can just make a total disaster and a mockery of their franchise while the baseball team is actually winning games.

Only management can come through and cause a distraction like this. You know, someone called last night and you know, railed about, Oh my God, who can be, who can be worse than the Angelos family? Who owns the Orioles?

Who can be worse? I think we got fans across the world of professional sports who would, you know, throw some names out there. Last night I mentioned Jim Dolan, James Dolan, owner of the New York Rangers and New York Knicks. Uses facial recognition technology to keep out fans who, you know, might even be associated with any type of controversy. Kept the family out of attending another venue, Radio City Musical, that he also owns because she works for a law firm that is an active litigation against Madison Square Garden. Not that she is an active litigation, not that she filed a lawsuit, not that she is the lawyer working the case, but she couldn't take her family to a Christmas show because she just works for the law firm.

And how did they figure this out? Because they had her face on file and her face was scanned via a security camera and they said, you can't come in. Is anybody worse than that? And sure, we're going to get into the White Sox later on in the show. Jerry Reinsdorf? Oh man, I mean he didn't look all that good in the last dance now did he?

Michael Jordan between him and, ugh, he made everybody look bad. Well y'all can't win anything if it's not for us the players. I'm sure they have to bring y'all together but, oof, now his White Sox look like crap fighting in the cold tub room.

It's a disaster. But if you want an owner who's probably a little too full of himself, if you want an owner who should probably put his phone down and not tweet, no it's not Mark Cuban. Mark Cuban will get on Twitter. Shep, is it still Twitter?

It's not Twitter anymore right? X? Yes sir, X. X. Get on X. Yeah Mark Cuban is on X. Jim Erce is on X. He should probably X himself out of using it. It's one thing to try to get Daniel Snyder out of the NFL.

Billionaires versus billionaires. It's another thing when you utilize social media to antagonize your own players. What message are you sending to the other players in the NFL when you are crapping on your best player on Twitter? How old is this man? Is Jim Erce 13 years old? Does he have a secret TikTok account? Is he messaging Kevin Durant on X on the sidelines? Like what is Jim Erce doing? At least James Dolan is doing what billionaires do. He's using facial recognition technology to antagonize his customers.

Yeah, the fans. Jim Erce is using Twitter to antagonize his own players. What's next? Maybe Jim Erce takes a page out of the book of Dolan. Maybe he slaps handcuffs on Jonathan Taylor and has him removed from Lucas Oil.

That might be next. I would think having billions of dollars would put you above being so petty, so, so petty to use Twitter and threats and reports and stories against your own players. The Indianapolis Colts, they could do better, especially for a team that, yep, last I checked, hey, they got a rookie quarterback who needs a running back. And then the backup to Jonathan Taylor has a broken arm. So if you can run the football, if you can run the football, go get a check from the Colts.

Hey, they may not be handing out big money, ask Jonathan Taylor, but I'm sure you could probably go out there and score a minimum. You just have to deal with a billionaire and his Twitter fingers or his ex-fingers, whatever the hell they call it now. It's the J.R. Sport Reshow here with you on CBS Sports Radio.

You don't got to use your damn Twitter fingers or ex-fingers. You can call me. 855-212-4CBS.

That's 855-212-4CBS. Jonathan Taylor now rehabbing away. From the Colts, nobody knows if or when he will return or if and when he will play. Speaking of running backs, I told you the Colts don't have one right now.

They might have a new one. A certain running back is visiting. I'll tell you who it is on the other side of the break.

The phone lines are open if you want to give me a call. We're just getting started. We're just getting warmed up. It's the J.R. Sport Brief Show on CBS Sports Radio. You are listening to the J.R. Sport Brief on CBS Sports Radio. J.R. wants to hear from you. Call him now at 855-212-4CBS.

That's 855-212-4227. It's the J.R. Sport Brief Show here on CBS Sports Radio. I told you that this situation involving Jonathan Taylor and the Indianapolis Colts, it appears to be getting worse. Jonathan Taylor now away from the team as he rehabs his ankle injury. He wants to get paid.

We've learned this for a few weeks now. We know that he has requested a trade. The Indianapolis Colts have told everyone who will listen that he will not be moved.

They have kind of threw a back channel through reports. Just said, look, we are willing to suspend this man without pay for non-football injuries to his back, which he said that he never sustained or reported. And so things are at a terrible level, terrible point right now between Jonathan Taylor and the Colts as he is now rehabbing his ankle away from the team. Also not good for the Colts, the backup running back Zach Moss. He broke his arm about a week ago.

No idea when he's going to return to the team. And so unfortunately for the Indianapolis Colts, their best player, Jonathan Taylor, not available. And they have a rookie quarterback. Then they just look like a hot pile of crap right now. There's no better way that I can say it.

I need to fill you in on this as well. With no Jonathan Taylor, with no Zach Moss, what do you do? What do you do if you're the Indianapolis Colts? Well, you call up Kareem Hunt. He has Kareem Hunt who has just been downgraded to running back two with Nick Chubb out in Cleveland.

Kareem Hunt is eligible to go wherever the hell he wants to ply his trade and to go out there and get money. He reportedly visited with the Saints today. We know the New Orleans Saints have their own problems with Alvin Kamara being out.

Alvin Kamara, after punching the daylights out of a dude in Vegas, he's been suspended by the NFL for the first three games of the season. And so the Saints need running back help. The Colts need running back help. And for all of these teams that don't want to pay a running back, they're trying to get him on the cheap? Well, they're just trying to get him young.

That's just the facts. 855-212-4CBS. That's 855-212-4CBS. Let's go to Flushing, New York. Let's talk to Manny.

Manny, you're on CBS Sports Radio. What's up? What's up, man? You're talking to the birthday boy right here. Happy birthday, man. Happy birthday. Thank you. Thank you, my brother.

Wow. I don't blame Jonathan Taylor. That's what happens when you have a big mouth of an owner named Jim Mercy who doesn't know when to shut up. I got one question for Jim Mercy. Have y'all done a damn thing since Peyton Manning left and Andrew Luck?

Oh, I forgot. Andrew Luck retired because you didn't help him. And now you're not helping your star running back.

Go figure. Yeah, not a shock. Andrew Luck decided to retire. He's like, hey, I'm getting my ass beat.

This offensive line is crap. I got a Stanford education. I don't need to sit around and get beat to pulp, you know? So I get it.

All right, Manny. What's going on for your birthday? Did you do anything fun? Got any plans? Yeah.

Yeah. I did some Carville ice cream cake to Carville and I had dinner with the family. Everything else, it was great.

Loved ones called me and touched me, DM'd me. Everything was great. That's good, Manny. Well, listen, enjoy that cake. I haven't had me one of them Carville cakes in a long time, okay? Yeah, thanks. I'll save you a plate next time.

Oh, please. Have a great night and happy birthday. Thank you. Peace out. No doubt about it. Hey, Shep, when was the last time you had a cake from Carville, man? It's been longer since I've watched Maury. Let's put it that way. Longest Maury Povich?

Yes. Haven't had a Carville cake in a long time. Same. It's good. I might get diabetes after, but cakes are good.

Some good cakes, man. As we get a McDonald's milkshake. McDonald's, man, does the machine work? That's the thing. The machine never works.

That's a good point. At the time, it's not even working. It never works at McDonald's. McDonald's got all this money. Where's it going? Not to fix the ice cream machines.

I understand that. Well, you know, with all these running backs out of work, then maybe they could eventually work a McDonald's ice cream machine. You know, Kareem Hunt is looking for a job.

Saints yesterday, I told you, he'll meet with the Colts tomorrow. I guess they're trying to put some pressure on Jonathan Taylor in case he holds out. They need depth. They need an additional running back anyway. And it is just so ridiculous how all of the running backs and these dudes, you would still think they got some type of gas left in the tank. They're all 28 years old.

They are all looking for work. Ezekiel Elliott, Tony Pollard took his job. It's like they ran all of the tread off of the wheels, the tires of Ezekiel Elliott.

Now he's cooked, right? Ezekiel Elliott is a free agent. He sat down and met with Bill Belichick and I'm sure they had an amazing conversation. Leonard Fournette, man, what a big deal. I feel like I was just watching him at LSU a few years ago and he's already been ran through the Jacksonville Jaguars. He's been ran through the Buccaneers and now he's just, he's on the sidewalk looking for work? Leonard Fournette? Dalvin Cook? What happened to his big old meeting two weeks ago with the New York Jets? Dalvin Cook is still out here looking for work and people will say that he fell off. Oh my God, he was so terrible. His yards per carry went down with the Vikings last year. Oh, we're not going to sit around and pay this dude. It's uh, it's pretty sad.

The running backs are just, they've been trashed. People are looking at him and going, oh well, you want your rookie deal? No. Are you past your first deal?

Yeah. And you're going to come out here and just play for the minimum. Somebody who had almost 1200 yards and 8 TD's on the ground last year is unemployed right now. That's Dalvin Cook. That's what his numbers look like. It's a hard knock life for all of these dudes.

But, owner doesn't have to rub it in. 855-212-4CBS. Matt, he's calling from Green Bay.

You're on CBS Sports Radio, the JR Sport Reef Show. Yeah, how you doing boss? You know, I'm listening to the whole thing and I listen to all these names and they all got one thing in common and it's none of them have receiving chops, boss. You know, that's what it takes to get paid these days. You look at Christian McCaffrey, you look at the guys who are securing their jobs. The Camaros who's got a suspension but he's still got his job because he can do the receiving job.

He can split out to the spot. That's what it takes to keep these jobs these days. These guys need to change how they're operating if they want to get that money. That's what it comes down to.

I don't necessarily think so. So, Saquon Barkley is a nuclear weapon in the receiving game. He didn't get paid. A lot of it probably has to do with his torn ACL a few seasons ago. We can look at someone like Derrick Henry.

Not known as someone who's going to go out there and catch the ball but he's a human battering ram. He's third in the NFL when it comes to salaries by a running back at about 13 to 14 million dollars. So, Nick Chubb in the same space. So, guys who aren't necessarily premier pass catchers, you know, they're getting the big bucks too. Has the running back position changed where you're going to have a running back who you want to have hands who can get you 500, 700 plus yards in the air per year?

Yeah, and absolutely. And even those salaries, not even with the Dalvin Cooks, the Four Nets, and the Elliots of the world, Christian McCaffrey, he's on a discount making 16. Okay, the running back, the top running back in the league is making 16 mill a year. And then we can look at Tyreek Hill making almost double that. If we look at the stats, the numbers in the production, is it double?

I mean, even if you want to account for injuries and wear and tear at the running back position, half? I mean, that's a lot, man. It's a lot. You're not wrong. You're not wrong. I mean, it's absolutely been devalued. But you look at the guys that are having the hardest time getting jobs.

And those are the guys that don't do the receipt. I mean, I love I'm in Green Bay. I love Jonathan Taylor.

I love Jonathan, Wisconsin. Yeah, but he he's not a receiver. He doesn't he doesn't bring that element where you can split them out just, you know, it's in in the, in the heat of the play in the midst of the adjustments, he doesn't give you that flexibility that is in the new NFL and in the new offenses.

And I think that they need to start demonstrating that more. And I think that Saquon you absolutely have an argument for because I mean, but Saquon Saquon's health is really what's holding them up. I don't think it's a receiving chops. I think it's I think it's been his health. Yeah, well, I think we're both right here.

I think one thing is for certain. And we heard this a few weeks ago. And I think it was from Dalvin Cook. He wouldn't grow up trying to be no running back right now. He would try to go out there and play another position. Because running backs and there is a trickle down. And thank you, Matt, for calling from Green Bay.

There's a trickle down, folks. The last dude who can't catch the ball is going to be a running back. And you know what? We're going to have some good ones that can't catch the ball. That's what the position will be. And then we'll get to this point again. There'll be some guys who can't catch the ball who have, you know, 1600 yards rushing this season.

And then they'll turn 28 years old and then they'll be told, nah, we're not paying you. It's a cold world for a running back. What a flip flop. What a switch for what, which at one point in time, the running back was the engine for the entire team. And now they're just an ancillary part. Let's swap you in. Let's swap you out.

Let's get them young and let's get them out. I mean, it's just, it's like replacing widgets on a factory line. It's like looking for a defective product on the line. It's like hundreds and thousands come by per day and it's up to you with the eye test to go up.

This one is defective, run them out and put a new one in there. That's his life for running backs in the NFL. It's tough out here.

It really is. It's the JR sport reshow here with you on CBS Sports Radio. Speaking of tough, right down the road from me here in Athens, Georgia, this doesn't have a damn thing to do with a running back.

This has to do with the Georgia Bulldogs. No, no one else with the team was speeding. At least not that I know of. No, nobody else got arrested. Not that I know of. But the Bulldogs issues with vehicles and driving under the influence.

There's still a lot of fallout from some of the atrocities and disasters that have taken place. And I'll tell you about what's going on here in Athens, Georgia. It's the JR sport reshow on CBS Sports Radio. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief on CBS Sports Radio. Thanks for taking my call. It's a work night and you keep me company while I'm out here in this rainy night. I appreciate it. I love your show, man. I've been working on night for the past two weeks, so I love watching your show and listen to Hey, Jr. Thanks for being the best person in your line of work. Call in now at 855-212-4CBS.

It's the JR Sport Brief show here on CBS Sports Radio. I don't know about being the best person in my line of work. I just show up, okay?

I show up and I do stuff and then I leave. Some people will enjoy it. Some people will be upset with what I say. What do I care? I'm still here having a good time.

I think most people enjoy it. Anyway, some place that may not be all that good at doing their job and no, not the Indianapolis Colts, not Jim Irsay. Who am I to say he's bad at his job when he's a billionaire? You know, what am I going to say? But outside of that, you know, I'm here in Atlanta, Georgia, sitting right here in the studio on Peachtree Street, the original one. But right down the road from me is Athens, Georgia. It's the home of the two-time national champion Bulldogs. Right at Sanford Stadium, the Bulldogs are trying to go for a three-peat.

But unfortunately, between one championship victory and the quest for another one. Damn. So many issues have come to light when it comes to vehicles, cars. And I know Shep, we've talked about this before and the number sounds astonishing. So, Kirby Smart took over the team in 2016 as their head coach. Georgia players have been cited for or have been charged with almost 300. Let me say that again. Since 2016, almost 300 driving related offenses, excessive speeding, street racing, driving under the influence of just some of the accusations that have been levied against and upon Georgia Bulldog football players.

Damn. Now, I have taken the drive back and forth from Atlanta to Athens quite a few times. There are many open roads, open spaces that are available for people to really get on if they should choose and get to driving. There are some winding roads. I mean, you can go out further in the country and you got straight away. You have ideal space if you want to go ahead and put the pedal to the metal.

That doesn't mean you should do it. And so, it was a hell of a surprise. But not that much of a surprise and this is this is a fear.

I know and we're going to talk about the pros in a second. I'm sure you've heard after the Georgia Bulldogs celebrated their second straight national championship after they had their parade in Athens. The night of the parade, the night after the parade, there was an accident. There was a player killed Devin Willock and then also Chandler LaCroix. Chandler happened to be a staffer who worked in the recruiting department. She reportedly was racing a car, a vehicle at more than 100 miles per hour with Jalen Carter.

Yes, the Jalen Carter who was just drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles. The Jalen Carter who got away with probation and a fine and Chandler LaCroix and Devin Willock. Well, unfortunately, they paid the price with their life.

There is no amount of money that will bring them back. And so, what what's the case now? Well, what's the problem? Why is this news? Because another staffer in the recruiting department, Victoria Bowles, she was recently fired by the Bulldogs. She was put on leave and medical leave and and here you work but don't come to work and then eventually, the Georgia Bulldogs fired her. And not too long after, last month, she filed a lawsuit against the University of Georgia's athletic department and why is she suing the athletic department? Because she finds them to be liable for allowing Chandler LaCroix for driving that SUV. Saying that the school was aware that she had speeding violations, super speeder violations. I never heard it. Chef, you heard of a super speeder violation? I've never heard of a super speed anything outside of cooking.

A speed racer, maybe. I don't know. She says that the school was aware of this and they allowed her to go out there and you know, rent the vehicle and and drive and the school is like, hey, we we have nothing to do with that. And so, she's been fired. Why has she been fired? The University of Georgia says, she is not and has not been cooperating with an internal investigation. It is policy for all employees of the school to participate in internal investigations and and she's not. So, she has been fired and her lawyer is saying, well, this is punishment. This is punishment for filing a lawsuit. It's been reported that she receives less than $12, 000 a year as a recruiting staffer. No, no big shock, no big surprise.

A young lady working at the job hoping to land a big one. And so, this issue with the University of Georgia and everything surrounding its students and vehicles and alcohol, it's not going anywhere. Because a staffer who was in a car with two other people who lost their life is suing. Sustained injuries. She sustained injuries to her back, to her eye, to other parts of her body. Now, she got the boot.

They fired better. Things are going to get messy here. Things are already messy for all of my friends here in Athens and I'll tell you this and we've had this conversation. There is so much and and there's been an uptick in it over the past several years and not not the University of Georgia. I mean, that that parade wasn't nationally televised and if it was, I didn't see it. I know a lot of friends who went out there. I think I was in New York on the air on the fan. We've seen a lot of drinking at championship parades.

We really have. I saw a drunk Clay Thompson almost knock over a woman half his size. This lady hit the deck and you know what? I don't want to sound morbid. This was like near a curb in the street close to a sidewalk.

We have heard horror stories about people bumping their heads on sidewalks and not waking up. Clay Thompson could have ended this lady. Had no idea she was underneath him.

I guess it works that way when you're six foot seven. Tom Brady. I don't care if Tom Brady was drunk off of Hennessy or that Tom Brady was drunk off of avocado tequila. Tom Brady almost threw the Vince Lombardi trophy into the Bay of Tampa.

We've seen it. JR Smith running around without a shirt on. Hey, Mike Malone this year with the Denver Nuggets. He's the head coach. He's he's supposed to have some dignity, right? And he's supposed to be the the the leader. Oh, Mike Malone.

Ah, man. He was he was throwing him back. He was having a good old time. Mike Malone slurring his words, enjoying his championship and it's all good and well.

Have times changed that much? I mean, I can think about tons of championship parades. I can go back 20 years of championship parades. I can think about the Yankees winning every championship imaginable. I never saw Derek Jeter drunk. Hey, I was just with Bernie Williams the other day. I never saw Bernie Williams drunk throwing back bottles and bottles on a on a parade float.

I never saw this before. The players would drink their alcohol, you know, in the the the game after the celebration. But not on the floats. Not going down the city. Not starting at 10 a.m. and lasting until one and two and making asses out of themselves. I got no problem with alcohol.

Trust me. None. But are we so damn loose that we're going to need another disaster before teams start saying you know what? Let's limit or or let's let's try not to even provide alcohol for the parade. Let the players get drunk the night before. Let them get drunk the night after but make sure they stay home because the last thing that we need is anybody. The last thing we need, we don't need anybody. Coming off of a parade, celebrating a championship and killing themselves or others like what took place here in Georgia in Athens. We don't need that. I hope the NBA, I hope the NHL, I hope the NFL, I hope MLS, I hope every league has taken note here.

Please, please, please. Let's cut down on the parade drinking. We've already had one major accident in death on the college ranks.

It doesn't matter if it's college or the pros. Nobody, nobody, nobody should be out here dying on the road due to alcohol. That's a decision and that's a choice that a lot of us have control over. 855-212-4CBS. We're going to take your calls on the other side of the break. I want to repeat this again and then guess what? Tonight the New York Jets, they debut on hard knocks and ironically old man Aaron Rodgers is the last old quarterback in the NFL, I'll explain.
