I happen to be JR. If you couldn't guess, I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you to super producer and host Dave Shepherd. He's coming to you live from New York City. And with our powers combined, it's a radio show. We'll be hanging out with you for one more hour, okay? Four hour show though.

We get started 10 p.m. Eastern, 7 p.m. Pacific. New York Yankees. They won a game but they lose Domingo Herman. He goes into rehab for alcohol issues. Liam Hendrix just came back from beating cancer. God bless him. And now he has Tommy John. I mean, you beat cancer, you can beat anything. Screw Tommy John.

I know he ain't alive no more but screw him. Colleges. They're moving conferences all over the place. Big 12 out of Colorado. We got Florida State saying that they're gonna leave the ACC because they're not making money. Iowa and Iowa State got gambling issues with their college athletes.

It's just, it's a wild world that we live in. And then also, Hall of Fame game is Thursday night. Less than 24 hours away from the Hall of Fame game. New York Jets, Cleveland Browns. Don't expect to see Aaron Rodgers or Deshaun Watson.

They will not be playing. Forget about that. And then the Hall of Fame induction will take place on Saturday. And so tonight I gave you a top six list. Hit the fast forward button just a little bit. Taking a look at active NFL players who are absolutely going into the Hall of Fame when they call it a career.

Without a shadow of a doubt. If you missed the full list, all of the explanations, you can hit rewind on the free Odyssey app. Let me give you a little recap if you missed it. At number six, I gave you Julio Jones. At number five, I gave you Travis Kelce. Number four, I gave you Von Miller. At number three, I gave you the people mover Aaron Donald.

And number two, I gave you Aaron Rodgers. And at number one, some guy, just a guy named Patrick Mahomes. And sure, there are other players who are going into the Hall of Fame if they retire today. Bobby Wagner would go, you know, this is an interesting one. Patrick Peterson with his suspension, performance enhancing drug suspension.

I wonder if that'll get in his way. You got Lineman. I know we talked about Trey Lance a couple of minutes ago. Trent Williams is going to go into the Hall.

Jason Peters, Zach Martin. You know, Russell Wilson is going to go. There are going to be some folks who look at him and say, oh yeah, he shouldn't go. But Russell Wilson is going to go.

For his sake, hopefully, you can end his career on some type of a high note. I think it can't get worse than what it was last year. But that's the list. But that's the list.

I can only give you six. The phone lines are open. It's 855-212-4CBS.

That's 855-212-4CBS. We had a caller who said he would have Cooper Cupp as a surefire Hall of Famer over Von Miller. And I had to go, what are we talking about here?

I almost needed to take a cigarette break and I do not smoke cigarettes. But anyway, speaking of Cooper Cupp, he suffered a hamstring injury and it's said that he'll be out for a couple of weeks. And so the Rams here are trying to get their lives together and don't have Cooper Cupp right now. Not the best or greatest of times. Quick question for you, JR.

Yes. So obviously, a name that we haven't mentioned, and correct me if I'm wrong, because obviously you and I are dealing with calls all night. He's not quite retired yet and he played in your neck of the woods for the last decade and a half. Obviously, we know he's with the Colts recently. Matt Ryan is not a surefire Hall of Famer. But is he right now, if Russell retired and Matt Ryan retired, does Russell Wilson have a better chance of getting into the Hall of Fame? Who gets in sooner? I don't know what a better chance is. They both get in, man.

Okay, got it. They both get in. Because Russell, he's not first ballot. He might get in.

Man. But he's not first ballot. You see, I don't split hairs like that. If you ask me first ballot this, first ballot, I can't. I don't think about that.

For me, it's are you getting in or not? Are you going to have to sit around for a decade like Zach Thomas? I don't know. But I do ultimately know and believe that Matt Ryan, all said and done, will get in. And so will Russell Wilson.

Is it going to be the first time or second time? I don't know. Russell Wilson still has a chance. Right. You know, so I don't know.

What about Cups Parker? It's debatable. It's debatable. I mean, if you got, this is the point.

If you got to sit here and ask me, that's the whole point. You know, there's a reason why I didn't have Russell Wilson here on this list. This question. Julio Jones going into the Hall of Fame?

Hell yes. There's no two idiots sitting around arguing over it. Kelsey, you can't argue. Von Miller, you can't argue. Aaron Donald, you can't argue. Aaron Rodgers, you can't argue. Patrick Mahomes, you can't argue. I think Russell Wilson will go into the Hall of Fame. People can make an argument against it.

They can. You think about Matt Ryan. You just asked me about Matt Ryan. Man, I got people here in Atlanta who would make an argument that he may not even be the best QB in Falcons history, which is nuts to me. But it's, people can argue it, Shep.

I'm sorry. Did I cut you short? No, no, it's a fair point. I would say that Russell to me has played himself out of the Hall of Fame last two years. Like JR, if Eli retired, you being such a big New York guy as well, if Eli retired right after that second Super Bowl MVP, he would be allowed to get in. But I think there is this voter's connotation and mindset that we have when these guys play terrible, like Joe Namath is another guy who had a great first five, six years, but the latter half of his career was average at best. Oh, well, I mean, he was a ticking time bomb from the get-go when he came down to his knees.

Absolutely. I don't agree that Russell Wilson has played himself out of the Hall of Fame because I think you got to look at the totality of his career. And for the benefit of him, that's not a decision that has to be made right now because he still has years in front of him. So I don't think it's all that big of a deal, but I'm not going to say he played himself out of the Hall of Fame.

Got you. Well, if you give Matt Ryan the defense that Russell Wilson had, including the head coach, he's winning more than one Super Bowl. Yes, but I think it goes beyond that. I think when you look at Russell Wilson, we can play the, well, if I gave this guy this and gave this, we can play that game forever. If we want to think about something a little bit more contemporary, we can play that game with Lamar Jackson. What happens if I give Lamar Jackson Tyreek Hill and then also Kelsey, you know, so we can do that. But all things considered for what Russell Wilson has done and for the length of time that he's done it and the efficiency of which he's done it, you can't knock him. And he's not done yet. And so we can do the, let's put him here or put him there game for anybody. I mean, if Matt Ryan got close enough, it ain't all his fault that they didn't win and get over the hump. So, you know, everybody don't got it good.

A lot of it depends on where you go. I mean, if Tom Brady ended up on the Lions, you want to tell me that he'd be walking around with a trophy room big as it is? Yes. Yes, he would. Because we saw what he did with a seven and nine team that got, you know, was there the previous season, he gets there, they win a Super Bowl and a landslide. That is a one-off season that had everything except for a quarterback.

He was 43 years old. I'm talking, yes, but he was still able to play. I'm talking about taking Tom Brady and saying, here, this is your career with the Lions, period. I'm not talking about him joining a team.

I'm saying, here it is. My point is that you can take a player and you can put them anywhere and we can, we can move around on sports, especially a sport like the NFL, that it's not built for this, where it's built for parody. I can look at a career like, like Derek Jeter's, okay? Where one singular player isn't important.

Derek Jeter is walking away with what, five rings if you just dump him on the, I don't know, the Tampa Bay Rays? The answer's no. This is, so it's, it's not easy.

My point being, it's, it's not fair to look at the what ifs because a guy didn't play here, especially in the NFL. It's, it's tough, man. It's not easy.

It's not easy by, by, by any stretch. I can look at one of the greatest QBs of all time. Dan Marino, like, okay, he was, he was able to have great wide receivers, but the defense was garbage while he was there.

So what now? Dan Marino? Oh, well, if Dan Marino played on the New York Giants and played with LT, I mean, like that, that it's not fair after a little while to just, well, if he was here or if he was there, that's, that's not.

I think he gets a pass, JR. I think Dan gets too much of a pass because if you look at the fact that he played with two Hall of Fame iconic head coaches and still could not get the job done, where guys like Archie Manning, nowhere near the skill that Dan Marino had, did not have such a luxury. Like he, to some degree, he gets a pass, Dan Marino. Dan, Dan Marino was not able to go out there and sack a quarterback.

True. Dan Marino was not able, hey, Gisele, what, what, what's Tom Brady's ex-wife? What's her name? Gisele Bunchin. And this is just for offense.

After they lost the Super Bowl, she stood in the back of a, of a stadium and said, my husband cannot both throw and pass. In the NFL, you need help. It's not fair to just say this guy, that guy in this scenario, that dude, if we should only be so lucky. And I think that's applicable in many places in life. You can only work with what you have in front of you. And to say, I can compare my circumstances to someone else's, if I were to, it don't work that way. Right.

And Jerry, I agree with everything they're saying. The last thing I'll say is, I'm not trying to play the what if game. What I am saying is, it is glaringly obvious with what Russell Wilson did in Seattle. When you removed him from that environment and he was playing with a subpar defense and not nearly as many pieces around him on offense and a very average to, I would say piss poor head coach. And I'm not going to use the Sean, I'm not going to use the word Sean Payton did about Nathaniel Hackett. When you put him in a very average meager situation, he got exposed.

He did. Russell Wilson is not out for pasture. He's just 33 years old. It's, first of all, it was one season.

He had a bad season. Nobody can take that away. Is he going back and pulling back the hands of time? No, he's not. But we don't know. I have no idea what he's going to do. Is Russell Wilson going to go out there and now there are injuries to his two wide receivers. He can't control that.

Is he going to go and give you 25 TDs and 10 INTs and run for 300 or 200 yards, what have you? I have no idea. I don't. And we would not have any idea because he's getting older.

And so I don't think it's fair. We know what he did. We know about the defense. We know what took place, but he contributed. He did. He wasn't just along for the ride. He wasn't just, well, we can just plug in anybody.

You got to give credit where credit is due. He had a crap season. He may not have a great one, especially given the injuries to Hamler and now Patrick. Let's see what he does. It's one season.

This is the good part about viewing it. I'm not going to kick Russell Wilson and he's certainly not one of my favorite players, certainly not one of my favorite personalities, but I'm not going to kick him and go, oh, well, this and that. Yeah, he had a crap year. The whole team had a crap year.

It was a year. He may have a good one. He may have a bad one.

I think they'll have an average one at best, but let's see what he can do the second go round. 855-212-4CBS. That's 855-212-4CBS. Chris, he's calling from New Orleans. You're on CBS Sports Radio. J.R., how you doing, man? Big fan. Thank you, man. What's going on?

I got one for you. I was going to say Russell Wilson, but y'all been talking about him. Jimmy Graham. Yeah, yeah, I guess the Saints just made a way.

Just sign him back, right? Five Pro Bowls, one All-Pro, one first team All-Pro. He's got 8,500 yards, 85 touchdowns.

I'm like, is that enough? I think at some point that he will get in, but I'll tell you this. Is he Travis Kelce? Is he in that space? No. If you got to think about anybody else even catching a pass, is he Julio? No.

Jimmy will get in, but I'm less enthused about it, man. It's debatable. I just got to ask this. Are you a podcast guy? You listen to podcasts?

No, not really. What are you asking me? Oh, I was going to say, man, I'm trying to do what you do. I'm a big fan, and I have a podcast, and I'll have to talk about this. I'll have to see what my listeners think as well. You give me inspiration. Well, that's great, but you want me to listen to your podcast or what? I would love for you to, man.

It's called Throw It Back. It's because it's me. I'm a bartender, and we talk sports stuff. We talk drinks. We talk how not to act in a bar.

So it's educational. Oh, that's pretty cool. Chris, I got to be honest, and maybe it's just me. I hear throw it back, and I think about ass. Yeah, that was the little fear with the name was being in New Orleans, throw it back.

People might think that, but it's a play on words. Hey, juvenile. Yep. Yep. Hey, good stuff, Chris. Well, you know what? I'm not going to forget the name of that podcast, okay?

There you go. I appreciate it, DJ R. All right. Shout outs to my man, Chris. Hey, Chris, where's your bar at? It's in Old Metairie, a little suburb of New Orleans. Metairie, people from here know that. It's called Paris Line Bistro. Shout out Paris Line Bistro if anyone's listening.

Hey, Chris, I'm not going to remember all that. Do me a favor. Hit me up on... What are you, on Twitter or something? I'm on a lot. I'm on all the socials, yeah. Yeah, message... Hit me up on Twitter and make sure I see it. Don't DM me on the side.

Just message me so I can mark it down, okay? All right. Last episode is about the natural?

What happened, Chris? Yes, sir. Yes, sir. The last one... Last episode is about the famous baseball movie, The Natural Man. You're hitting at our heartstrings there.

Well done. Yeah, that's what we... We did a baseball movie episode the week before, so I missed The Natural, so I had to watch it. So the opening segment is about The Natural, and then we go on to talk about other stuff. Hey, Chef, how'd you find this already? Well, he's... I mean, I like this. It's an original concept. I like it, man.

I'm going to be honest with you, Chris. You need to get a social media presence. I was trying to look for you guys. Yeah, I just created an Instagram for the account last week.

I'm not big on the gram, you know? So I'm just trying to make it a habit, like... You are inspired by JR. You know what he built on YouTube, right? Yeah, exactly. I'm a big fan.

Yes. Get after that. I should have named my show The Throw It Back Sport Brief. That's what I should have did.

I just had people shaking ass. Yeah, we could talk about licensing and all that, yeah. Okay.

Well, that is a long conversation. Well, Chris, I hope to see you in New Orleans. Hit me up so I could check you out, okay? Yes, sir.

Yes, sir. And go Braves! Yeah, they just smacked the Angels today. Thank you, Chris.

Appreciate you. That's what happens when you live in New Orleans. You got to find a baseball team, and you didn't want to go Texas, so you went Braves. Braves country. Why not?

Huh. Didn't expect that at the end there. I was thinking about going to that game today.

I didn't make it. 8-5-5-2-1-2 for CBS. That's 8-5-5-2-1-2 for CBS. Hey, Josh is calling from here in Georgia, Al McDonough. Josh, you're on CBS Sports Radio. Go ahead. Hey, JR. Appreciate you taking the call, man.

Sure. Yeah, man. I'm digging the list.

I would agree on everybody on there. A guy I was thinking about who is a rival in the NFC South, man, Cam Jordan. I hate playing Cam Jordan every year.

Dude, it's a thorn in the side, man. He's consistent. 115 career sacks already, man. He ain't done. He don't wire you with his athleticism or anything like that, but he just knows how to sack the quarterback, and I respect that.

I would say Cam Jordan. He plays all the damn time, man. He sure do, man.

He just plays all the time. His next career, if he wants it, is going to be in media. Oh, yeah, for sure. When he's done, he'll be able to have one hell of a speech, and he'll probably have a job working for one of the networks or so by then, but you're correct. I think he is certainly on a Hall of Fame trajectory.

I think he'll be there. Yes, sir. Appreciate it. Thank you, Josh. Shout out to Josh for calling from McDonough. It's the JR Sportbreeze Show here with you on CBS Sports Radio. 855-212-4CBS.

That's 855-212-4CBS. I'm going to get to more of your calls on the other side of the break. Let's talk about some dudes, man. We know the picks, the surefire guys going into the Hall of Fame.

Who deserves a little bit more love? It's the JR Sportbreeze Show, CBS Sports Radio. Hey, JR. Thanks for having me on. I love your show. You're not the typical screaming head commentator. You're calm, cool, collected, and entertaining at the same time.

It's a hard skill to match. Thank you. Call in now at 855-212-4CBS. It's the JR Sportbreeze Show on CBS Sports Radio. We're talking about active NFL players who are basically locks to go into the Hall of Fame. That was tonight's top six list. Julio Jones, Travis Kelce, Von Miller, Aaron Donald, Aaron Rodgers, and at number one, Patrick Mahomes. We ran through an additional list of other players, whether it be Justin Tucker or Russell Wilson and what have you. At one point, I don't remember why, Tom Brady was brought to the forefront. You think about, I remember it was Russell Wilson. What do you have?

What do you don't have? And I said, look, if Tom Brady, if this man played his career with the lions, would he have had the same decorated career that he did? Highly unlikely. Highly unlikely. Am I going to sit here and go, oh, no Super Bowl?

I don't know. But it's hard for us to think that he have seven of these things or six of them with one team. You can throw that out the window. And speaking of the team that Tom Brady just departed, the Buccaneers, they're trying to, I can't even say replace Tom Brady.

That's not even appropriate. They're trying to find the next quarterback now that he's retired. And you got Baker Mayfield who just signed, and then you got Kyle Trask who you drafted. And Baker Mayfield, he's supposed to be that guy, right? Baker Mayfield helping to take the Browns back to the playoffs. Baker Mayfield going to Carolina and trying to find life. And now Baker Mayfield, here he is thinking that, man, I might have this job here in Tampa.

Not so fast. Dave Canales, the offensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He pretty much said, look, Baker Mayfield might've started off as the guy in the lead for the number one job, but right now, Kyle Trask, a gator man, he might be taking over.

Listen to this. Probably a little bit of an edge for Baker to start off just in terms of the smoothness of the offense. But it just took a couple of days for Kyle to really settle in. And then what we saw is the last two practices, Kyle really show what he can do, stretching the field with his arm, getting the ball out quickly, making decisions. Nobody likes Baker Mayfield. I guess he doesn't like himself. So what's going on with Kyle Trask?

What the hell is he doing? This is what Dave said. What we're seeing is we're seeing a couple of guys who both have to put themselves in that starter mind frame, going into the practices, knowing, Hey, today's my day. I get to run with the ones. I get, you know, maybe a few more reps.

It's pretty much even, even when we go ones and twos, the way we do it. But yeah, I just, I just, you know, I see the two guys really challenging each other. Where the hell are all them folks who were just, just telling me about Baker Mayfield a couple of seasons ago. I'm like, yeah, he took them to the playoffs, but he ain't, he's not consistent. Where are those people at?

Where are they? Now you're going to lose to him. And then you had the fight with Sam Darnold.

Let me not even get into it. 8-5-5-2-1-2 for CBS. That's 8-5-5-2-1-2 for CBS. Kevin is here from Louisville. What's up, Kevin?

What's up, JR? You are my man and you're the man. Okay. Thank you. You are always a man.

Who's going to be patting my arms? That's it. Okay. Yeah. Well, we know he's going into the hall of fame, Kevin.

Yeah. Well, I'm throwing Tyree Hill, man. Tyree, come on, man. I think he's on his way. I'm not going to call him a lock yet, but I think he's on his way.

Hey, your locks are good, dude. I couldn't even throw anybody in on there based on what you said. Tyree Hill is the only other one I could throw in other than yourself. JR, you're a lock, man. You're a lock for sports. My wife goes, you're listening to JR again. I say, hell yeah.

You're a lock, dude. I love you. Thank you, Kevin. I always listen to you every night. I always call in.

Tyree Hill, maybe. That's the only other one I can think of in the pool of what's going on. Love you. Take care, bro. I love you. Yeah, thank you. Love you, too, Kevin. Thank you. Okay. I got a little lost there at the end of the conversation, but I love him, too. Why not?

855-212-4CBS. Allen is here from Toronto. Go ahead, Allen. I'm picking Derrick Henry. I just hope he finishes his career in Seattle. Look, he's one of only eight to go for 2,000 yards in a single season, 2,027. He's already ahead of six running backs that are already in camp. He's not going to catch Eddie George, I don't think, next year, but he's definitely going to catch Chris Johnson and Earl Campbell. He should get at 1,500 yards, and he's going to pass both of them. He's also a very good receiver, too.

He received 206 yards in 2019 and 1,200 yards in his career. He's going to go in, as far as I'm concerned. He's already there. I think he has, and it sucks. I feel bad that he has to play on the Titans. I think that ship has sailed when they maxed out at the AFC Championship game a couple of years ago. I'd love to see him in a better scenario and situation.

I think he got to put up some more yards, I think, to get in, but we know he's one of the best running backs that's ever picked up a ball that goes without saying, without a shadow of a doubt. 855-212-4CBS. We got LaPrade calling from Cleveland. You're on the JR Sport Brief Show. What's up, LaPrade? Hey, JR. It's always a pleasure to hear from you. My girl loves the way you talk, and she said that it's not arrogant with him. He just tells it like it is, LaPrade.

But, JR, I just want to share something with you, and I don't want you to get offensive on me. JR, you forgot two of my quiet storm guys from the mistake on the lake. You forgot Miles Garrett. I know you got Aaron Donald in there, but Miles Garrett is the man now. I mean, you know, Aaron Donald, he declined a little bit last year.

Oh, wait, but hold on, LaPrade. Oh, we ain't gonna get into it, JR. He is Miles Garrett today, if he quit, is not a surefire lock for the Hall of Fame.

He's not. Okay, okay, JR. He has barely played the required five years to be in the Hall of Fame, man. He just went into six. Miles Garrett going into his seventh year, JR.

He got dropped at 216. 17. Okay, well, that's six years.

You understand? Yeah, but what I'm saying is he barely went over the five-year mark, so that's my point. Okay, well, I just thought maybe, you know, that Miles Garrett, and I just thought that Nick Chubb, before it's over, JR, I just thought there'd be all the famers.

Oh, well, that's not the question. The question is, which active players are absolutely for sure, for certain, going into the Hall of Fame? This is not about potential, what they could do, what they've done already. This is about what has happened, and if they quit today, can you argue it?

Answer's no. I can argue Miles Garrett. Ain't done it long enough. I could say the same thing for Chubb.

They got more work to do. Okay, man. Well, JR, I like your spread, buddy. I really do.

I like that whole lineup. Oh, okay, thank you. Oh, thank you. I appreciate that. I thought I understood something else for a minute, but thank you, LaPrade. Okay, it ain't no mistake on the leg, JR. You have a great day, buddy. It's always a pleasure. You as well.

Thank you so much. Shouts to LaPrade. See us all love.

Hey, Marco Belletti, he said he liked my spread. I had to go, whoa, whoa, what are we talking about? Yeah, I was a little confused there. A little lost. I was like, hey, I don't know what you, what you talk about, but.

Well, I was hoping he wasn't, so that's why I was kind of wet. Yeah, no, he doesn't, no. Look at that, Marco. Hey, Marco, we're gonna get an email in the morning, relax.

Anyway, well, we won't get emails. And anyway, is there any player that you look at in the NFL besides Patrick Mahomes that you just go, well, damn, this guy's been whooping ass. That is surefire the whole way that you're talking about it. I mean, I think your list, I think you hit it.

I mean, you also hit a couple of the guys that you kind of have on the fringe. I don't think there's anybody else. I mean, look, you can make the argument for like a Stafford, but there's an argument.

It's not automatic. Right, argument. You know, and that's different.

It's a different conversation when there's a lot of guys you can make an argument for, but when you're talking about, wow, there's nothing to discuss here. They're going into the hall of fame. There's not that many because the NFL doesn't really lead for that. There's usually your career is only so long. Derek Henry, I think is a great one, but there's an argument.

Yeah. It's amazing how he is like one of the most dominant running backs. And this is what makes the NFL so crazy. Let's think about, you can, you can look at, at Terrell Davis, right? Career shot out of a cannon, knee shot, two, two Super Bowls, MVPs, and he's done. And he's in the hall because of, of what he accomplished in that short window.

And then you got Derek Henry here. It's just, he may not get in it. And a lot of it is due to circumstance. I mean, if I was playing with John Elway and I'm a great running back, then I hit the jackpot a little bit, but.

Yeah. I think you kind of hit it though too with Davis kind of opened things up a little bit. It's similar, but it was so long ago with like Gale Sayers because his career got cut short. There are guys that I think maybe we're going to get to the point where we don't hold it against them for not playing 10, 12, 15 years, because we're starting to understand that that's really hard to do, you know? And I don't know if running back position, especially the way everything's gone, are guys going to be held against them?

If they were dominant for a five, six, seven year stretch, and then they fall off a cliff, will they really get penalized for that? I don't know anymore. That's a good point. I think, I think Derek Henry will, will get love.

I think he'll, I think he'll get in. Yeah. That's a good point. Hey chef, what say you, man?

You know, it's interesting. You, you alluded to this and no one else has brought him up. Trent Williams, like why is he getting no love tonight? You mentioned him and I know he plays the offensive line.

I know he doesn't touch the ball, but he has been the most dominant at his position over the last decade. It just goes to show you as little love as running backs get, offensive linemen get even less and we know they're still prevalent running backs. You can't really say the same.

I don't know about that, man. They get paid, brother. They get paid. But they don't get talked about though, JR. They don't get hall of fame love. That's, that's, that's good.

I mean, the, the, the, the, the dudes who get talked about the most don't stick around long for the job and the ones that stick around long enough, we know who they are. And so I, what else can we say about Trent Williams? What else can we say? Really? You know?

Yeah. And I'm sorry to do this to you guys, but he, he deserves honorable mention JR, because he's going to be a lock. He is, but we haven't mentioned him yet. He only played for three years, but he's going to be a lock. He is, you know what I'm talking about?

I don't. Okay. The guy who plays in Cincinnati, he's going to be a lock. There's no doubt about it in my mind. Again, going to be a now or two different things though. I feel like we've changed the, but he's so good and he has elevated a franchise even more than Patrick Mahomes because remember something. Yes, sir.

Yes, sir. That's a completely different conversation. I know, but I just feel like we're dismissing him only because he hasn't played long enough. How are we dismissing him?

He hasn't played, he hasn't played five seasons. Okay. Okay. But you know, you don't talk, do you know who I'm talking about at least? Joe Burrow. Yes. He has to be, he has to be on some kind of list when it comes to hall of fame.

I know it's only been three years, but he's going to go down. He ain't on this one. That's unrelated. Okay. Well Shep, if it makes you feel better, I just thought of another offensive lineman that I'm sorry. I don't know if you guys mentioned. Smith.

How about Jason Kelsey? Oh yeah. Yeah.

Is he a lock? I think so. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, I think so.

All right. More so than Joe Burrow. Listen, if Ralph, I know different sport. If Ralph Sampson's a hall of famer, Joe Burrow, considering what he did in college and then the first three years in the NFL.

You know that I'll do that, right? I know, but they should with him. Oh, we've crossed sports. This is not a list of guys who have hall of fame potential. That list would be very, very, very long. It's not a list of some of the most accomplished quarterbacks to play their first few seasons. It's a top six list of guys who are absolutely going into the hall of fame if things ended today. Joe Burrow ain't on this list.

He got nothing to do with it. He could be on another one. Like you said, it's the JR sport re-show here on CBS sports radio. You're listening to the JR sport brief on CBS sports radio. You're listening to the JR sport brief on CBS sports radio. I do think you're one of the best people in radio right now, hands down. I've heard everybody.

You got the gift and I appreciate, you know, your intelligence and your honesty. Call in now at 855-212-4CBS. It's the JR sport brief show here on CBS sports radio. It's been a busy day. It's been a busy night. We've talked about all the movement in college sports with teams moving from conference to conference. We talked about the gambling going on in Iowa and Iowa state. Talked about Domingo Hermon having to go to rehab for alcoholism.

Liam Hendrix having Tommy John after that cancer diagnosis or bounce back from cancer I should say. Messi scored two goals tonight. He has five goals scored in three games.

Messi making things look real easy here in MLS. And then I just gave you a top six list. Active NFL players who without a shadow of a doubt are going to the hall of fame. I'm looking at Twitter. You can tweet me.

Yes, at JR sport brief. Somebody tweeted me and he's just like Julio and Von might make it, but not a 100% first ballot lock. And that is just, that's, that's ridiculous. First, I ain't talking about first ballot, this first ballot, second, but I ain't talking about that crap.

If you think that Julio and, and, and Von Miller might make it to the hall of fame, you should stop watching football. Don't watch 855-212-4CBS. That's 855-212-4CBS. This is an exercise here. Let's see who can pass and let's see who can fail. The phone lines are always bumping.

We're up against the end of the show. I want to get as many people on as possible. If you are on hold, I want to get you on air. Just give me the name.

Give me the reason. We don't have time for a full conversation and I'm doing this because I want to get on every person who is on hold and who has been waiting patiently. Let's see who fails. Road is calling from Virginia. You're on CBS sports radio. You don't have to ask me how I am. Go ahead. Give me your name and your reason.

Hey, how's it going? Russell Wilson in the hall of fame. I was at the Super Bowl in the red zone.

Crab was chanting, beat the beast. Two yard line and they passed the ball with the offensive coordinator. He should have two Super Bowls. Russell Wilson, hall of fame. Thank you, Road, for calling from Virginia. AJ from Michigan.

You're on CBS sports radio. I just want to say Adamic and Sue. I believe he was Aaron Donald before Aaron Donald came. Okay, I wouldn't go that far. I know he was stepping on people before Aaron Donald made it into the league, but uh-uh.

And Adamic and Sue was not Aaron Donald before Aaron Donald. Vlad is calling from Illinois. What's up, Vlad?

Go ahead. I'm gonna say Fletcher Cox, six-time pole bowler, Super Bowl champion, and drop those t-shirts. See you later, man. Thank you, Vlad.

T-shirts and hoodies, they'll be coming. Fletcher Cox, I think he'll get in, but I don't think he's a lock. Randy calling from PA. What's up, Randy?

Yeah, I said TJ Watt. I feel like he's got to know the conversation at some point. Yeah, I think he's on the precipice. He's right there. He's right there, but I still think it's early.

I give him maybe another two, maybe one or two more seasons of being ridiculous, but he's on his way. Great list. I appreciate the input. Thank you, Randy. No doubt about it. Hey, Sean is calling from Maryland.

What's up, Sean? Yeah, he took mine with TJ. He took mine with TJ Watt, but he should have also said Hayward, who is very underappreciated playing that end spot in the 3-4 defense. Yeah, I certainly think he's on his way as well. Is he a lock? I think probably with his longevity, but not so much as some of the other. I mean, well, everybody can't be Aaron Donald.

I think he's going to get in. Yeah, but Donald's playing the 4-3 on the end, and he playing the 3-4. They both have different responsibilities. You know what I'm saying? His job isn't just to rush the quarterback the whole time. Yeah, no, but I'm not necessarily talking about whether or not we're running with four linebackers, or we got three guys up front, or whether we have four.

My point is more so being on the interior, and my point is that everybody isn't going to get the recognition of Donald, no matter what the alignment is. Oh, definitely, definitely. Well, thank you, Sean. Appreciate you, man. Have a good one. You as well. KC from North Carolina, you're on the JR Sport Brief Show.

Hey, what's going on? Yeah, I was saying Cordell Patterson, just because he's Swiss Army 9. Whatever team he goes to, he does that work. If he's returning the ball, if he's running the ball, if he's receiving, he puts in work.

So you think he is a lock for the Hall of Fame? I would say a lock over Julio, and I say this because... KC, what did you smoke tonight? I didn't smoke nothing. You did.

You think Cordell Patterson is more of a lock for the Hall of Fame than Julio Jones? You smoking something, or somebody slips something in something, man. What's wrong with you? What a way to end the show. Now I can go get a cigarette that I will not smoke after that guy, my God. And listen, Cordell Patterson doesn't get the attention in the NFL that he deserves. Believe me, he doesn't. But to say that he's more of a lock for the Hall of Fame than Julio, what?

That's ridiculous. At least we ended on some comedy. Hey, Shep, thank you for a great night. Thank you for a great night, JR. Look forward to tomorrow, man.
