It's the JR Sport Brief show on CBS Sports Radio. I hope you had a great Thursday. I'm gonna be hanging out here with you for the next four hours.

Go ahead and lock yourself in. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. I'm being joined by super producer and host Dave Shepherd and we got a lot to do. The Major League Baseball season is upon us. 162 games they are on the way and the teams are getting one out of the way. Right now we're minutes away from Shohei Ohtani getting ready to take on the Oakland Athletics.

That should be an interesting game. Shohei Ohtani by himself is making 30 million dollars this year just from the Angels. Meanwhile the Oakland Athletics they pay their whole damn squad 40 million dollars. Aaron Judge got things going with a home run for the New York Yankees. We got DeGrom getting smacked around.

We have a New York Met, another Met. Justin Verland who didn't even get a chance to play his damn game or he won't be able to start his first damn game because he's already hurt. And so I guess this is this is kind of normal here at the start of the MLB season. And then we got a basketball game. We got tons of basketball games going on. Right now this moment the Denver Nuggets are getting ready to get ready to that's a lot of readies. They're getting ready to take on the Pelicans. And then a few minutes ago we saw a legitimate ass-whooping in the NBA in the Eastern Conference.

So the Boston Celtics they smashed the Milwaukee Bucks 140-99. So we got a lot to do. If you want to talk to me here it's very simple. The phone number is 855-212-4CBS. That's 855-212-4CBS. You want to holler at me on social media?

That's also simple. It's the name of the show. JR Sportbrief. And we're going to get into baseball and I just got to get this this ass-whooping out the way.

Right before we went on air. I'm sitting here and I'm looking at this game. The Celtics just they ran all over the Bucks 140-99. The combination of both Tatum and Brown they lost their collective minds tonight. Tatum 40 points 8 rebounds. He had 8 three-pointers made. You had Jalen Brown 30 points 5 rebounds 5 assists. Is this going to make a massive difference if they face each other in the playoffs?

Nah probably not. But this is this is certainly the Celtics letting everybody know. It doesn't matter who's sitting at number one in the East right now. The Celtics are going to be competitive. I told you about all them damn threes that Tatum hit.

8 of them. Here listen to a three from Tatum in the third quarter courtesy of Celtics Radio Network. Smart jump pass field on a hop by Tatum. Tatum against Lopez. Left side of the floor.

Tatum dribbles between his legs. Nasty step back. Three in the air.

Got it. Oh that was brutal. Oh man somebody just stepped on my toe then with that move. It is a 34-point game. Yeah listen to another three-pointer. This is late in the third quarter. Jason Tatum is just just putting up points for no reason. Making a score 108 to 64.

Listen to this. Can Jalen get to his 30-point game? He's driving right now. Shut off by Coniston. Kick out Tatum. He's open so he takes the three and hits another one. 38 and 28 minutes for Jason Tatum and the Boston Celtics have come to Milwaukee and lead the NBA's best team by 44. There was a point in time where Jason Tatum was in the uh the conversation for NBA MVP. Started off like a house on fire and then Jokic took over. Started winning all those games and Bead went on his own damn stretch and so you know what let's get another Tatum highlight. This one doesn't happen to be a three. This is a dunk late in the third quarter. Uh-oh again. Tatum looking for a 40-piece drive.

Flushes hard with two hands. Joe Ingles is like, who put me on this guy? 112-69. 40 for Tatum after a slow start.

Yeah that's it. 40 points for Tatum. He a slow start. 40 points in three damn quarters. It was garbage time for everybody in the fourth quarter. Giannis sat down. Giannis for the entire night.

He had 24 points in 25 minutes because he didn't play. And then there was another Antetokounmpo. Hey Shep, what do you call him? That Antetokounmpo? You can call him that. I call him Antetokounmpo. Both are right. There was there was another Antetokounmpo.

Yeah say that five times fast. On the court. Thanasis, his brother. Thanasis was out there and he got ejected. Head buttoned somebody.

Some guy I never heard of in my life. You know when you put the bums out there on the floor? The guys who typically wouldn't play.

They get chippy for no reason because they're getting blown out. Well that was Giannis's brother. And so the Milwaukee Bucks get smashed at home 140-99. And everything that you just heard about Jason Tatum?

Completely true. I was able to watch this guy with my own damn two eyes a couple of weeks ago here when the Celtics visited Atlanta. And Jason Tatum watching him in person is just different.

He does things that nobody out there should do. Let alone at his size which is about 6'8, 6'9. But I can't ignore his teammate. I can't ignore Jalen Brown. I told you about Jalen. 30 points, five rebounds, five assists. Life was pretty easy for him in the third quarter. Just running around dunking the ball.

Listen to this. Jalen 10 of 17. Tatum 7 to 13. Now 4 of section 3. Celtics have hit half of their 28 three-pointers.

Back door cut again. Jalen Brown right hand slam and he yet lets out the yell as Mike Boonholzer calls timeout which you could hear him do over a very quiet crowd. Yeah right now after the loss the Bucks have a record of 55 and 21. The Boston Celtics have a record of 53 and 24. Are they going to swap or switch places?

I do not believe so. I mean we're running out of time here. We know the Sixers are behind them at third. You have the Cavaliers at fourth. The Knicks are fifth. The New York Knicks unfortunately. Julius Randle sprained his ankle last night in a win against the Miners.

I don't think they're going to be able to do that. Julius Randle will be re-evaluated in two weeks. I'm sure he'll come back for the playoffs but God knows if he's going to be at full strength.

He most certainly will not be with his full wind. And so you take a look at the east it's probably and likely going to ball down to the Milwaukee Bucks and the Boston Celtics. The 76ers can they hang in there?

Yeah they can. I'm not sure about their depth. You have Maxey, Harden playing point guard. You have an injury prone Joel Embiid who's already been dealing now with a calf injury. People want to say he copped out against Jokic. We know at any minute any second Embiid can get hurt and so it's highly likely that we get the Bucks and the Celtics.

Sign me up for it. I'll watch all of the exciting basketball and with some of the other teams. I'll look at the Cavs and the Knicks. The Nets are like yeah whatever. The Miami Heat will be will be scrappy. The Hawks I'm looking at the clock pretty much trying to understand when their season is going to end.

And let's be real here. Who cares about a plan in the east? Who cares? The Hawks, the Raptors, the Bulls, Iowa.

Who cares? This is the Bucks and the Celtics world and the rest of the east is just living in it. 855-212-4CBS. That's 855-212-4CBS. Tim is here from Oregon. Well he knows about a team going nowhere. That would happen to be the Blazers. Hey Tim, you're on CBS Sports Radio.

Boy you sure got that right. I don't understand why they have to. I don't want to talk about the Blazers. Let's skip that. I was talking, I wanted to call you and talk to you about the game tonight. Boston is not that good. I mean they're good but I think and I love listening to you the last five minutes. I think Philadelphia is going to shock you people. I do.

I really do. I think Philadelphia is going to win the Eastern Conference. And as far as that game tonight, 140 to 99, a road win. Is there any chance dude that the Bucks just took the night off? Well let's go back. You made a few points. I guess I'll ask you a question. Why do you feel that the 76ers will win the East?

Because I think that as we go over the last half dozen games of the season, they're going to think about setting that guy a little soft and not working him so hard and they, I don't know dude. Amblyad to me is just the best player in the league. All right. I mean it's a tough pitch to me when you don't even know his name, Tim. I said Amblyad. That's not his name, Tim.

Are we being punked? I'm sorry Tim. I gotta let you go now, okay? Thank you, Tim. Sorry.

You can't call me and tell me you believe in the Sixers and then I ask you why and you just tell me. Amblyad. Who? I don't, I've never heard I've never heard of a man named, I know Jerry Blevins, former pitcher in Major League Baseball.

I'm trying to think of other people that that might have a similar name. Amblyad. Amblyad. An Emblyad. It is an emblem. I know an emblem. I know what an emblem is.

I do not know an Emblyad. Look, if you think the Sixers are going to shock the world, then fine. But Joel Emblyad, if you think they're gonna sit him out, there's a reason.

Because he's gonna get busted up anyway. James Harden run around with a busted Achilles. I would love it if we had just a competitive game. I don't care who comes out of the East.

I just want good games. And I know, I know, I know, I know that Milwaukee got the hell smacked out of it tonight at home. 140 to 99. Do I think they took a night off? No, come on. Some nights you just don't have it. And tonight they did not have it against a team that was ready to whoop that ass.

It happens. If they play seven times, I highly doubt that the Bucks are going to get smacked by 40 points every single game. And so let's not just judge this or what the potential Eastern Conference Finals might look like.

Let's not judge it on one game. Let's go to Oregon again. I don't know if this guy's gonna know who Embyad is. He might know a little better. This guy definitely will, JR. Let's talk to Brantley. He's calling from Eugene. You're on CBS Sports Radio. Go ahead, Brantley. Hey, I just wanted to shout you out. I appreciate you and your show and you always have good energy.

I love it. I just wanted to talk a little bit about the Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron potentially missing the playoffs for the second year in a row. It's never happened in his career.

I believe the only other time that he missed the playoffs was his rookie season aside from last year. And so I just... With five games to go, the pressure's on. The Lakers are in an okay position right now.

We'll see what happens tomorrow, but there's real potential that could happen. LeBron's in his 20th year of the NBA and it's coming down to the end of his career, really the last couple of years, I would think. And so what are the chances of him missing the playoffs this year? And who do you think is going to rise out of the West? I kind of think the Suns are a favorite, but I mean, what's your opinion on that?

Well, I think that's a lot of... You stated a lot, which is almost all true, but I think there's more doom and gloom there than I would necessarily worry about. LeBron James is back. There's going to be an injury concern with him, I mean, for the rest of his career. But the Los Angeles Lakers right now, they are in the eighth spot. They have a 500 record, they're 38 and 38. If you want to think about their remaining games here that happen to be left on the schedule, they're going to take on Minnesota on Friday night in Minneapolis. Minnesota is right above them in the standings. Then they take on Houston. Should beat them, should, right? They take on Utah. Should beat them, but Utah is very competitive. They take on the Clippers.

Okay, that's next Wednesday. We have no idea who will be out there. You know, we will not see Paul George. We know that much.

They've closed after that. They have Phoenix and they have Utah. If I have to look at the Los Angeles Lakers, man, they're going to have a chance to get into the playoffs, even if they have to sit in the quote unquote play in. I'm not worried about the Lakers. Unless there's an injury, I think they'll be fine. If they end up in a play in, I think they'll, they'll advance. And I think the best thing that we can hope for from the Los Angeles Lakers is it's just health because all things considered all of the teams that they're kind of grouped up against Minnesota above them, the Pelicans behind them, the Pelicans are taking on the Nuggets right now.

They just tipped off. And then you have OKC. The Lakers are the most talented group there. And so I'm not going to sweat the Los Angeles Lakers. Is it possible that they do not make the legitimate first round?

Yes, but I think the Los Angeles Lakers will be just fine. Brantley. And then one other thing I just wanted to shout out, shout out your girl, Kaitlyn Clark, tomorrow. I hope she goes off and and knocks off South Carolina tomorrow. I'm sure rooting for the Hawkeyes. Well, we're going to we're going to talk about Kaitlyn Clark later on in the show.

I don't know if she's going to have another 40 point triple double, but she'll certainly go out there and should do some damage. Thank you, Brantley, for calling from Oregon. Casey's here from Milwaukee. You're on CBS Sports Radio. Yes, sir.

I'm just going to give it a call. I'm I'm actually a Bulls fan. I heard you kind of talking about, you know, how to entertain the play. And I thought, you know, the Bulls would have been great if Andre Drummond would have continued, you know, especially with the magical Giannis.

Well, if you were to entertain. Hold on. I'm talking about for the for the West.

Yeah. We'll see what happens with the Lakers for the East. The play in. Who cares? Nothing.

Nothing. The Bulls have been irrelevant all season. The Raptors have been up and down everything pretty much below the Cavaliers is just.

They just exist. There's no legitimate chance at a championship. There's no real, real chance at being ultra competitive in the east. You look at the top of the standings and you ignore everybody else at the bottom.

What else you got? I mean, I mean, Phoenix, I mean, I mean, Philadelphia, I would agree. They do have a nice chance. I do feel like the backcourt have actually been playing really strong.

It's hard to come back and really kind of make his imprint on the game. I think he they might have a strong chance, especially with him. That's why I said look at the top of the standings. It ignore everything pretty much after the Cavs.

What else you got? I mean, I mean, I got you obviously the Bucks, man, the Bucks and being in Milwaukee, you know, the Bucks are going to take it for the Eastern Conference. But, you know, we'll see what Boston has. I mean, they definitely put up some numbers tonight. Shocking, shocking numbers.

I think they set records in Pfizer forums. It happens. So, definitely made a big statement. It happens.

It's a one off. Nobody's sweating one way or the other. The Boston Celtics aren't expecting a cakewalk if they should face each other and the Milwaukee Bucks are not gonna get walked over. So, it happens. Teams get their asses whooped. And I would think that most people in Milwaukee tomorrow will just, they'll be okay. Are people going to lose their minds tomorrow?

Oh, we'll see. I mean Al Horford, I mean, he's always... No, no, I didn't ask you. Forget about Al Horford. Casey. Robert Williams either. Oh my God. Casey. Casey.

I didn't ask you about Al Horford. Are people in Milwaukee going to be concerned tomorrow? No, they're not. No. Okay. We're good. You have a good night Casey, okay? You too. All right. Thank you. I feel like Casey sat down and he might've had a case of Red Bull before we spoke to him.

It's okay though. It's the JR Sport Brief Show on CBS Sports Radio. We're just getting started. It's 855-212-4CBS.

That's 855-212-4CBS. Oh, we got some baseball to get into. Shohei Ohtani getting ready to show out in Oakland right now. I just told you about the Pelicans and the Nuggets. We had a bunch of MLB games already take place today. We'll talk about that. But you know, one of our callers just mentioned the Lakers. Should they be concerned about the Lakers?

I ain't worried about them, but I'll tell you a team that was a waste of time from the trade deadline. I'm going to tell you about the Mavs on the other side of the break. I'll get some more of your calls. It's the JR Sport Brief Show, CBS Sports Radio. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief on CBS Sports Radio. JR wants to hear from you. Call him now at 855-212-4CBS.

That's 855-212-4227. It has begun. Shohei Ohtani was at bat, but now he's on the mound making his start, his season debut, the opening game, opening night, opening day for the, now this is a dumb ass name, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The Angels in Oakland. They got more than five fans in the stands, I see. Shohei Ohtani walked his first batter.

The score is nothing, nothing here in the bottom of the first. Shohei trying to find some command here in the first inning and always noticeable. You see Ohtani even in Oakland, the backstop is just Japanese products behind him, or I say behind the batter. I don't know what this is. Nishikawa Air. Yeah, Nishikawa Air.

Hey, Shep, you know what that is? Nishikawa Air? The rarefied air that he walks on is a dual threat, unlike any other player in the MLB? Maybe Nishikawa sells that air.

Maybe it's an air conditioning company. Hey, shout outs to Ohtani, we'll keep you up to date with Ohtani as the night goes on, obviously. And of course, he gets out of it. The Angels have a double, well, nope, not a double play.

The guy, Capel gets on base. Anyway, 855-212-4CBS. That's 855-212-4CBS. One of our callers right before the break, he talked about the Los Angeles Lakers and a concern there. I told you that the Dallas Mavericks, there's more of a concern, but let's go ahead and talk to Joseph from Baltimore first.

Joseph, you're on CBS Sports Radio. What's up? What's going on, JR? How you doing? I'm good. What's on your mind?

Not much, man. I was just really impressed with my Orioles today. I mean, they did almost let the game slip away from them, but they came out swinging, man.

Adlai Rushman, he's the real deal. And he's definitely, I think we're going to make a lot of, I think we're going to make a deep run this year. I mean, I put a Hail Mary bet on us to win the World Series, but that's just because the odds were really high. Why not? You know? Okay.

Wow. I mean, that would certainly be one hell of a shocker. I actually watched that game earlier today after the Yankees, and I saw Rushman have five hits. I saw his first home run. He's certainly on his way to being an All-Star. I also saw the Orioles almost completely choke that game away, and then even Devers being caught on the outside the box worrying about his damn cleats.

Rather interesting. I don't know if I'm going to peg the Orioles to go all the way. That'd be a bet that I wouldn't put down, but they're certainly on the road to improve it. It was only $5 to win.

I think it was like 600. So, I mean, you know, like I said, a little bit of a Hail Mary bet and it's a home team. So, I mean, if they do, they do.

If they don't, I still think we're going to make a pretty good run in the playoffs. And yeah, Rushman, man, I'm pretty sure he went five for five today with a home home run and I think three RBIs. Yes, yes, and they were out there running all over the place. I think the Orioles stole five bases.

It was a busy day. Good luck to you guys, okay? Hey, thanks, bro.

Have a good night. Thank you, Joseph, for calling from Baltimore. Yeah, man, that's tough to say after game one. And the Orioles are, they're a team on the come up. If the Orioles finished a little above 500, I would consider that to be a success. I, they, they got competition already in the Blue Jays. They have competition with the Yankees.

Let's crawl before we walk. Speaking of Andy Rushman, he spoke to the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network after the game about his success, that home run to open a game up, the five hits. Take a listen. First opening day and to be able to come out here and, and get a win, huge for us and starting off the season right. So we have a great group of guys and the hits are cool and the, you know, the record's cool, but the team win is, feels a lot better right now.

Yeah, I think he's, he's going to be around for a long time. He's going to be one of those dudes that is just a perennial All-Star at the catcher position. And I feel like we've, we've had catchers to do that. More recently, we've seen Contreras go from the Cubs. He's now a member of the Cardinals, but I don't, I don't feel the same way. I feel like the last All-Star catchers that we had that had those 10 year runs, you think about someone like Joe Mauer with the Twins, even his conversion, and you think about Buster Posey with San Francisco, it's, it's nice that we got a new catcher that's legitimately, legitimately an All-Star. The catchers aren't asked to do too much now. It's a, it's rare to see a catcher in major league baseball to both command a pitching staff and also have command at the plate.

It's just a, it's a whole new world. It's the JR sport re-show on CBS Sports Radio 8 5 5 2 1 2 for CBS. That's 8 5 5 2 1 2 for CBS. The Orioles probably may be going in a positive direction. The two teams that we're going to talk about on the other side of the break, probably not.

We're going to discuss the Dallas Mavericks and I'll even put another NBA team in there and I'll let you know about an NFL team that's hoping to go in the right direction. And then we'll give you more of an update on some of the games today in major league baseball. You're listening to the JR sport brief on CBS Sports Radio. You're listening to the JR sport brief on CBS Sports Radio. I even got my wife into listening to you, man.

You know, like when I come home at night, she already have you on like walking the house. I'm getting out the car and you know, and then I'm walking in the house and I'm still hearing you, man. Call in now at 8 5 5 2 1 2 for CBS. It's the JR sport brief show on CBS Sports Radio. Man, we, we got a movie for everything. I'm going to get back to the phones momentarily. 8 5 5 2 1 2 for CBS.

That's 8 5 5 2 1 2 for CBS. You know, while we're, we're sitting here in commercial, I look up at one of the screens here in a studio and I'm just like a George Foreman movie. Really? Like we got, we got a George Foreman movie coming out.

I had no idea. Yeah. We talked about that a couple of weeks ago. Remember? No, we didn't.

A George Foreman movie? Positive. Oh, I didn't remember. Oh yeah.

I didn't do a good job selling it. Oh my God. What was this last week? Two weeks ago?

Might've even been three weeks ago. So Forest Whitaker is in the movie. He's supposed to be his trainer. Correct.

Yes. You, you want to go see George Foreman's movie? I mean, he's one of the all time great heavyweight champions. He was, I know who he is. Are you, do you, are you interested in a man's movie?

Yeah. Jerry, I'm surprised you're not, because this is an individual that was absolutely, why am I telling you? You know this, but this was a guy that was the, the anti, you know, favorite, right? Ali was the guy. And so he loses to Ali and he goes into oblivion. And then all of a sudden he has one of the greatest comebacks in the history of North American professional sports. I'd love to see a story like that. You wouldn't?

I'm not interested, man. Really? I will wait until the George Foreman movie ends up on, what do you call it? I'll wait until it ends up on TV somehow. Or Netflix, potentially. Yeah, well tell it, that's what I mean. Yeah, stream it. Netflix, I see, I think Sony is releasing it.

I don't know what, what streaming platform that is. I don't know. You don't, you don't admire the pivot that he's made as an entrepreneur, as someone who's a preacher, you know, from being a heavyweight champ. You don't admire all the, all the different turns he's made in his life. Admire? Yeah. No, not really. I can respect it.

Copy. I'm not, I'm not all that interested. That's why I said, I see George Foreman. George Foreman has a movie coming out. I'm like, wow, I didn't know this.

I can wait to see it until, you know, maybe there's a Saturday night I'm on the couch and I go, oh yeah, the George Foreman movie is there and I'll turn it on. You know, he's, I mean, J.R., you know this, he's also one of the great personalities in the history of sports too. Like he knows how to give an interview, man. And when you listen to him speak, even to this day, it's as if he was actually never in the ring getting his head pummeled. Like he actually sounds like he never actually fought. I haven't heard, I haven't heard George Foreman in a few years.

Gotcha. I mean, because when you heard Ali at the end and you heard guys like Joe Frazier at the end, Joe Lewis way back in the late seventies before, you know, his health took a turn. Listen, bad guys younger than all of those, those dudes who, who already aren't in the best of speaking condition. Yeah, no, I ain't got no problem with George Foreman. I certainly know who he is in his history, which is one of the reasons why I don't, I'm not, you know, jumping head over heels to see it in a, in a film.

I can wait. Well, he had a dark, and you know, he had a dark past, like he did not have an easy upbringing. Oh, I mean, there's, there's a whole lot of accusations I could think about more recently when it comes to George. So I'm familiar with his history. That's like telling me, Hey, they made a, they made a documentary about Derek Jeter. I'm just like, what do you, what else?

What am I, what am I supposed to know about this guy? Well, I mean, what am I going to learn in a documentary? Like it's, I'll watch it one day, but there's no, there's no urgency. LeBron. Here's another example. LeBron James has, I believe it's on Netflix or Peacock. It's on Peacock. I believe LeBron James has some type of documentary coming out. Uh, it might be coming out over the next few weeks.

I am in no rush. I have zero urgency to sit down and say, Oh my God, I need to watch LeBron's show about young LeBron for what has there ever been a movie and or documentary that you have sat down and really appreciated the fact that you took the time to watch it. And it was about someone that you already had a pretty good history and recollection of. Oh, see, there you go. History after the fact, not necessarily in sports, a film.

Oh, well, this is, this is historical inaccuracies, but it's pretty accurate. Something like Malcolm X. I mean, I can go on and on, but when you, when you have folks who are like still alive and I'm familiar with their history, I'll sit and watch it, but I'm not, I'm not rushing to, you know, that makes sense. Okay.

So, I mean, I know he's not the most popular actor these days, but when Will Smith came out as Muhammad Ali in 2001, I believe they made it. You weren't jumping for joy to see that movie. I didn't go to the movie theaters to see that movie. Okay. Well, at least you're consistent. I respect that. I waited until afterwards. Like I'm not, if I, if I know about the person already, there's, if I have read about you, for me, there's no eagerness to just say, Oh my God, I need to rush to the theater to see this or that, you know, it's like the movie ain't going anywhere.

Where's the movie going? Well, I mean, that's, but that's the magic of it is going to the theater and getting that in-depth glimpse and that on the big screen and, you know, the refreshments and the snacks. And I think there's just something really special about that still. There's something very special about me putting my ass on the couch and just minding my business.

That's a fair point too. Yeah. That, that I enjoy a whole lot when I get to do it. You're not excited for air? No. Air? Yeah. Not the air that you were talking about with Shohei Ohtani.

Air like outside air? So the movie coming out, you know, where, I don't even know what you're talking about. Matt Damon plays Sonny Vaccaro and Ben Affleck plays Phil Knight. Yeah.

And then Viola Davis plays Michael's mother. No, no. That's going to be in theaters?

Yes, it is. Do you know, I'm almost certain that maybe like a month later that will be, I can watch that at home. Oh no. I mean, even, even Creed three, you could watch released like today, tomorrow, something like that.

And that was, that's, I mean, no disrespect to air. That's probably going to be a bigger blockbuster than Matt Damon and Ben Affleck's movie. Man, I ain't in no rush to go sit in a movie theater. None.

None. And it has nothing to do with the movies. It's like, there's, there's very few things that come out that I'm supposed to feel ecstatic about it or excited. I can't remember the last movie that came out where I said, Oh my God, I, I have to go see this when it comes out. Like I ain't, I ain't standing in line.

This is not star wars from the seventies or eighties, or even the, I guess the late nineties when they reintroduce star war, like I don't, I don't want to stand outside for nothing. And more recently, a lot of these movies that come out that, that may be in my wheelhouse, I can probably maybe assure you, I can, I'm probably on a countdown right now until I receive an invite to see big George Foreman at like some type of movie media screening. And that's, that's, that's fine. If somebody wants to invite me and I have the time, yeah, sure.

I'll go. And I'll be sitting in a movie theater with five people. I didn't have to pay, you know, 50. How much is it to go to a movie with two people now?

50 bucks. I ha you know what? I haven't been to a movie theater in years. Yeah. So you telling me about it?

I don't know, but I, but I, but I'm not, I'm not opposed to it. I just, I don't know how you have time. I just don't have time to go to movie theaters anymore. Well, that's, that's, that's part of it. That's why I enjoy when I can put my ass on my couch and leaving my phone alone and not looking at it and minding my business. I enjoy that. Hey, my movie theater experiences.

I don't want to go to a movie on a Friday night or a Saturday night. I don't want to spend $50 to sit next to some stranger who's going to talk or look at their phone or smell. Uh, you got the person in front of you laughing hysterically. You got somebody standing up. Somebody has to go to the bathroom every five minutes. When I'm in my house, you know who's bothering me, Shep?

Nobody. Thank you. There you go. George Foreman. Oh, let's give it a proper name. The big George Foreman movie. It can wait the same way that, uh, what's it called? Air, the Michael Jordan recruitment movie.

It can wait, man. Yeah. He is trying to really, you know, get back in terms of the conversation with the greatest of all time. As you talk about the last dance, you talk about air. He is really trying to change the narrative about LeBron James right now.

That's all this is. Forget Michael Jordan. I ain't going to see big George Foreman. I'm not going to go see air. I'm not going to see LeBron's, whatever it is on Peacock. Are there any other athletic movies that I'm missing? No, that's about it.

Yeah. I ain't going to see none of them. I'll wait until I can watch them on the couch. 8 5 5 2 1 2 4 CBS.

That's 8 5 5 2 1 2 4 CBS. Manny is here from Flushing. What's on your mind, Manny? Uh, what's up? Hey, what's up, Jay? How are you doing? I'm good. What's up? It's good. What's on my mind is I want to, I want to hear you talking about the Dallas Mavericks.

My God. I mean, they're probably one of the most disappointing things in the NBA. Well, yeah, well, they, they got Kyrie Irving, uh, the eight and 14 Luca Doncic.

Uh, he's been playing, but there was some time where he was out. Kyrie is dealing with a foot. They just lost to the Sixers. They are 11th in the Western conference there. The Dallas Mavericks, they, they suck. I didn't even think they'd be this bad. I knew when they acquired, uh, Kyrie Irving, that they were going to lose depth. They've obviously lost size.

They've been injured. Kyrie did not want to be there. The Mavericks took a chance in bringing him in.

And this is just a match made and going absolutely nowhere unless they ultimately can bring in additional talent. A matter of fact, Manny, hold on a second. Uh, Kyrie Irving spoke after the loss to the Sixers last night. And he heard this. Well, we're going to play it. So hold on a second.

He basically called it a cluster blank. Listen to Kyrie Irving. It's definitely tough, um, emotionally anytime you lose, especially when you're coming out of halftime, you feel like you have control of the game. Um, you know, and you have to go through growing pains as a team. You know, where we're learning each other on the fly and just learn how to win ballgames and keep a mental edge of our opponents, no matter who we're playing. So we're definitely learning in that direction. But in terms of the now where we are controlling our present destiny as a team going against the Sixers, I feel like we had a great chance of winning this game.

And, um, you know, just our poise down the stretch just wasn't, um, at a high level that we needed to, to get this win and they took full advantage of it. Let me tell you, Manny, Dallas, the Dallas Mavericks are just a waste of time. We could just wait until the off season and is Kyrie go? Does he stay?

Does anybody else want him? Is he ha is he going to have to stay? But this season is just, it's okay. When is there are a lot of teams in the NBA right now? The only question that exists is when are they going to be eliminated?

That's it? Hmm. That's a very interesting question. I mean, when you think about this, I mean, this franchise, I mean, outside of the championship in 2011, I mean, they have been up and down. I may be honest with you.

I mean, this is not the first and also by this, I want to ask you this. When is the last time that the Dallas Mavericks ever had a marquee free agents, a marquee free agent? Oh, wow.

Oh, my God. Yeah, well, that's a not maybe maybe never. Yeah, because of all the noise about the Knicks start getting marquee free agents. We never, we never mentioned the Mavericks in the same breath, even when they were winning games during the Dirk era. I mean, and speaking of Dirk, I mean, during his time, you let go Steve Nash, one of being a two time MVP. You let go of Tyson Chandler, who got you the championship who was it was it was the Knicks play his best best years of his career, become an MVP.

The Knicks play his best best years of his career, becoming an All-Star and and the defensive player of the year. Now, the Luka era, you let go of Jalen Brunson and now he's leading the Knicks to the playoffs. Well, I think in the Mavericks history, their greatest players have pretty much all been drafted. Whether you want to think about Nowitzki or you want to go into to Finley, their guys, they've they've been able to go out there and draft but you are correct.

They haven't had a team where they brought guys in but in this world and the NBA as it currently stands and thank you Manny for calling from Flushing. If you think about the Dallas Mavericks right now, I would think people would want to go and play with Luka but then maybe they would not because he is such a ball dominant guard. Like Luka needs, he needs shooters out there, man. He needs big dudes. He needs a reliable option. He needs what they had in Jalen Brunson and he's gone and Jalen Brunson doesn't come with all that Kyrie nonsense.
