We got time in the middle. And the thing about the NFL that makes it so great, there's always something to talk about. And how about some of the bigger stories in the NFL right now don't necessarily have anything to do with the actual games.

It has to do with people who are out of work, people who are trying to figure out whether or not they want to play more football or whether or not they want to coach. Somebody like Aaron Rodgers, who sat down with Pat McAfee today and gave us a long soliloquy about whether or not he was going to play or not. And whether the Packers wanted him back. I think the Packers have committed $60 million to the guy this season and Aaron Rodgers just needs them to come and beg for him to return.

And so that's Aaron Rodgers. And then at the same time, we have Sean Payton, who used to be the head coach of the New Orleans Saints, who's currently a broadcaster on Fox. Like every time you turn your head, Sean Payton is reminding everybody of all the teams that have contacted him for interviews.

It's just like, who's asking for this? Like he's running around doing his own promo tour to land himself a job. Like recently, when he spoke to Colin Cowherd, and he said, yes, I've talked to NFL teams, even terrible ones like the Texans, listen to this.

This week would be, it would be Houston, Denver, later in the week, Carolina. Do you go there? In some cases, depending on schedules, they'll come here or in other cases, I might go there. End of the week, I'll go out to New York.

I'll have a chance to visit with Mr. Tepper in Carolina. Oh yeah, sometimes they come to me. We have lunch. What do you eat for lunch? Sometimes we have tuna.

Sometimes I have a salad. I'll go out to New York. Like who the hell is going around doing their own promo tour for a coaching job?

Sean Payton? If you're going to take a job, just take one, dude. Do we need hourly updates?

Because I can only tolerate, but, you know, a few minutes of the man or a few seconds of him. Let's listen to Aaron Rodgers pontificate on Pat McAfee show today about his own future, even though the Packers were kissing his behind last week. Listen to this. If there's a rebuild going on, I won't be a part of it, you know? So they have to figure that out. And do they have to figure that out before you decide that you're coming back? Because then there is kind of a timeline, right?

Isn't there? Well, listen, listen, I don't think any team outside of maybe, you know, the Texans this year or some, there's a couple of teams maybe who might say, yeah, we're rebuilding. You know, we finished, you know, down at the bottom of the league and we're, you know, obviously we're going to start over new, you know, these teams who have new GM or head coach and dropped in pretty high. They might admit that they're in some sort of rebuild, but not, you know, most teams in the middle of pack aren't going to say we're going to rebuild, you know, unless we have a crazy cap situation. So, you know, no GM or president's ever going to say, hey, we're rebuilding. So that won't, you know. So what? I'm sure that'll trigger somebody asking them, you know, you guys get to the point and the answer would be, of course not, you know, we got this.

Okay, we get it. And, but it's a mindset, you know, if they want to go and think Jordan's ready to go, then they're, then that might be the way they want to go. And if that's the case and I still want to play, then there's only one option, right? That's to play somewhere else. You know, if it's not and they, you know, like, no, no, we still want you to play and, you know, this and that, then it'd have to be, you know, the right situation with the roster.

It looks like we can, we can win it all because there's no point coming back if you don't think you can win at all. Oh my God. Thanks. Thanks. Thanks, Iron Rogers. I think he was doing that ayahuasca stuff before the interview.

He was doing something. It's like they have to roll out a chariot for him to return. At this point, he can go away and retire too. You got to think about it so damn much. Just take the 60 million dollars and go to work, brah. If you don't want to be in Green Bay, then tell them you want to be traded. Go out there and torment another organization. At least Tom Brady.

He doesn't walk us through these. You got to kiss my ass stories. I'm sure they're doing it, but they're doing it privately. We know Tom Brady, the Miami Dolphins wanted him a few years ago. And they got punished for it. The Miami Dolphins actually wanted Sean Payton and Tom Brady.

And I got punished. Draft picks. We know that the Raiders, why wouldn't the Raiders want Tom Brady? They want to win a championship, right? They actually want to be relevant.

They don't want to be known as a joke. If I ever have to see Tom Brady stand up next to the Raiders owner, Mark Davis, I'm just going to pass out. Because Tom Brady cannot look at this man in the eyes and take his haircut seriously.

There's a grown ass man walking around with a full bowl haircut. But where possibly could Tom Brady go? He got destroyed last night. This has been a crap season. This past year of Tom Brady's life has to be the worst year publicly for the man.

Just flat period. And for obviously more than just football reasons. And so he said he left the stadium last night. He was going to get a good night's sleep.

I hope he got one. Because he didn't know what's coming next. I don't know what's coming next. And after he got smashed by the Dallas Cowboys, when he was asked about what comes next.

This is what Tom Brady had to say last night. What is your process from here when you start to think about what you want to do next? Because obviously it's going to be huge. I'm going to go home and get a good night's sleep as good as I can tonight.

Do you have a table or do you want to figure stuff out? No I'm not. This has been a lot of focus on this game. It should be one day at a time. One day at a – and that's all you can do. Tom Brady understands one day at a time. About a year ago, this man felt pressured to retire. And he quit. And about a month and change after that, he came back and said, yeah I'm back. And then Bruce Arians said, oh Tom Brady's coming back. Oh Todd Bowles, here you coach the team.

I don't got no patience for this. And then we saw what happened. The Buccaneers are past their expiration date. The offensive line was hurt.

It was in shambles. Tom Brady had to throw the ball 66 times last night just to try to stay alive against the Cowboys. There ain't no quarterback going out there winning the game throwing 66 times.

And I get it. Tom Brady is immortal. He's 45 years old. If he decides to play next season, he will be 46 years old.

Nobody does this forever. And so yeah, Tom Brady, he does have options. He can go home. And when I say go home, he can work for Fox. I think he has $375 million coming over the next 10 years to be a broadcaster.

Or he can try to squeeze out more football out of his right damn arm. Tom Brady can go to Miami. You know, Miami has a decision.

It doesn't matter what they say publicly. They have a decision to make on Tua Tonga Veloa. Can you trust Tua Tonga Veloa to be healthy?

If it's not his damn hip, it's certainly his head. Are you going to invest in him already for or as a franchise QB when you don't know if he can stay healthy enough to be one? And what a slap in the face that would be to the NFL to say, yeah, we tried to get Tom Brady three years ago, you punished us, and we still got him.

Stephen Ross would walk around like a boss, the owner of the Miami Dolphins. And then there's the other team that I just mentioned, the Raiders. Derek Carr has already been given the boot. Does he get traded? Does he get released?

That's just a matter of semantics. You want to tell me that Tom Brady in Las Vegas throwing the rock around to Devontae Adams wouldn't wouldn't bring some type of stability to the team? The Raiders are like a joke.

Watching some of their games as they always end in comical fashion, whether or not they end up on the winning side of the ledger or being losers. Tom Brady would really similarly do what he just did with Tampa, and that was, you know, maybe bring a little bit of respectability back to the team. To go from Jamis Winston to Tom Brady is a hell of a thing. I'm sure Tom Brady would absolutely love to go back to the Bay Area and play for the 49ers. Why wouldn't he?

He's from the area. But if Brock Purdy continues to light it up like this. Why would you move on from Brock Purdy? Just to bring in a 46 year old rental who wants to do that?

Nobody. And so all of the options that might have been available there for Tom Brady, maybe even a month ago. I don't think some of the same options are there. If he wants to continue playing, his best overall option would probably be the Raiders. It's just the Raiders are a joke. Before Brock Purdy burst onto the scene, I would have said, man, San Francisco is plug and play.

You have all the weapons, you have one of the best defenses, if not the best defense in the league. Tom Brady could go out there, play for his hometown team. And then finally walk away right off into the sunset into retirement. If you listen to Tom Brady's press conference last night, Tom Brady sounded like he was ready to just walk off into retirement. Because unprompted by anyone, Tom Brady made one final statement. Tom Brady basically thanked everybody. He thanked the media, he thanked the staff, and he actually sounded like he was choking up a little bit on his way out of the press conference room.

This was Tom Brady's last words before he walked the hell out of that building. I just want to say thank you guys for everything. I really appreciate all your effort. I know it's hard for you guys too.

It's hard for us players to make it through. You guys got a tough job and I appreciate all that you guys do to cover us and everyone who watches and is a big fan of the sport. We're very grateful for everyone's support. Hopefully, I love this organization. It's a great place to be and thank you everybody for welcoming me. All you regulars, just very grateful for the respect and I hope I gave the same thing back to you guys.

So thank you very much. It sounds like a dude who's done. And if he's not done with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, or excuse me, if he's not done with the NFL, he certainly sounds like he's through with the Bucs. I think we've gotten to this space already where we can acknowledge his age, 46 in August, Tom Brady can still play. With an awful roster around him this year, awful offensive line, weapons that were hurt all over the place or weapons that were coming back from injury. Tom Brady threw for 4,700 yards, 25 touchdowns, 9 interceptions. Are those numbers ideal?

No. But if he has a roster around him, Tom Brady can still win. Let's be honest here, the Buccaneers didn't even deserve to be in the playoffs.

They were 8-9. They got into the playoffs because the entire NFC South stinks. Carolina, who the hell is our quarterback? Who's our coach? The Saints, who's our quarterback? And then you got the Falcons.

Yeah, yeah, they got a rookie out there. But who the hell is their future quarterback? And now with Tom Brady probably walking out of the building, the NFC South is going to be open there for the pickings for anybody because I don't think Tom Brady is staying. I still think he can be a championship caliber QB on a ready-made team the same way that the Buccaneers were ready to go when he showed the hell on up. And I know I say all the time, I'm sick of Tom Brady. I've been waiting on him to retire and waiting on him to go.

And I'm really still kind of in the middle about it. I don't care what he does. I'm just glad he's not as dramatic as Aaron Rodgers. And if Tom Brady is to continue his career somewhere else, go to Vegas.

I think that's the best spot. And if Tom Brady does not go to Vegas, stay home and get ready for your new broadcast career with Fox. This man has 37 million dollars waiting on him per year for the next 10 years whenever he retires. And it's not that Tom Brady needs the money.

This sucks. But if Tom Brady is not playing football, what the hell else is he going to do? Try to squeeze out another year with the Raiders and then go do TV. That's what I like to see Brady do if he ain't going to quit. 855-212-4CBS.

That's 855-212-4CBS. Tom Brady has options. He has money.

He has power. He got options. What do you think is best for Tom Brady? Should he finally hang it up?

Did he not learn his lesson in his personal life? Should he just go home? Do you think Tom Brady should try to go to the Dolphins? Do you think Tom Brady should try to go to the Raiders? Do you think Tom Brady should try to go to Washington?

I'm going to explain why I think that makes no sense. But the phone lines are open. That's 855-212-4CBS. That's 855-212-4CBS.

What do you believe is the next best move for Tom Brady? It's the JR Sportbrief Show, CBS Sports Radio. You're listening to the JR Sportbrief on CBS Sports Radio. Hey, first of all, I just want to say, JR, you're the man. All these other radio shows, you hear the same boring stuff.

And you know what I'm saying? I love how you bring them callers in. Call in now at 855-212-4CBS. It's the JR Sportbrief Show here on CBS Sports Radio. Around this time last night, we saw the conclusion of another time. Last night, we saw the conclusion of another Tom Brady season. The greatest quarterback, most accomplished quarterback in the modern era is done. He's a free agent. He could retire. He could decide to join another team.

He has a job in the broadcast booth waiting for him at Fox, $37 million per year. Tom Brady has options. He can extend his career with another team, the Dolphins, if they don't want to. It seems as if the Las Vegas Raiders have been priming a pump to be presentable to Tom Brady. From the offensive weapons to Josh McDaniels who he used to work with, with the Patriots.

And I can tell you one team, and I've heard people say this, Washington. I'd be shocked if Tom Brady went to Washington. Daniel Snyder is in the process of selling this team. You think Tom Brady wants to show up and work for a question mark?

No, why would he do that? I think his best option is to go out there and play for the Raiders. At least he would bring some type of just intermittent stability for a team that just can never get out of its own way. At least he's not being as dramatic as Aaron Rodgers is about his own future. So my question to you is, what would you like to see Tom Brady do?

I'd like to see him in the silver and black and if he's not going to do it, I'll just wait until he's on television. Where most of the time I probably won't hear him anyway because I keep the TV on mute. The phone lines are open. That's 855-212-4CBS. That's 855-212-4CBS.

What would you like to see Tom Brady do? Dan is calling from Fairfax, Virginia. You're on CBS Sports Radio. Hey, good evening, JR. How are you doing, man? I'm well, man.

Thank you. All right, I want to tell you the scenario and then I'll tell you the team. A couple of weeks ago, they were interviewing. He was on this podcast or something, Tom Brady, and he said, you know, he was talking to his son and he told his son he really didn't care about him coming to watch his games. He wants to start going to watch his son's games. And he went off to watch two of his sons with one scrimmage and one practice during the summer. And his son lives in New York and the Jets need a quarterback. And the Jets aren't too bad, so maybe he goes play for the Jets and his son's in New York. He gets to go see his son play some football games. Best of both worlds.

I don't know. The Jets aren't bad. And so now Tom Brady would beat up on Bill Belichick twice a year now, right? Yeah, that too.

That too. Yeah, but if he really wants to see his son play, that's an option. He could do it. He could definitely see his son play if he lived in New York.

That that makes sense. I don't know if Tom Brady would want to. Well, he had the it's not like he had a whole choice in the matter.

I guess he did a little bit. I don't know if he would want to be there with Coach Salah. We know that the New York Jets are also trying to figure out their their offensive coordinator position. But the Jets certainly have weapons on the offensive side of the ball. They have young offensive linemen who are growing.

It's just a matter of health. And the New York Jets also have one of the best defenses in the NFL. And so if we want to look at things from a football perspective, I would agree with you. The New York Jets, as crazy as it sounds, it would make sense for Tom Brady.

I just am not sure about some of the coaching, the coaching elements that are there. But wouldn't that be something? Almost 20 years tormenting the New York Jets.

Oh, my God. That would be crazy. That will be a one of the quick little thing really quick that kicker. You know, he missed one against the commanders, too.

So he missed five straight extra points. Yes. Right before the season ended. Yes.

Right before the season ended. But you take care, man. And I love listening to you, man.

But I'm telling you, the sleeper team of the Jets so he can see his son play. Oh, thank you, Dan. Appreciate you. You take care. Well, as well.

You as well. Yes. His son from his his first relationship, I'm not sure if him and Bridget Moynihan were married. But, yeah, his his his first son is in Manhattan, in New York City. I don't know if that's going to be enough of a draw or lore to get Tom Brady to the Jets. That does that sounds dirty to say.

We've seen where the things happen. Makes me want to take a shower thinking about it. 8 5 5 2 1 2 4 CBS petrol's calling from here in Atlanta. Go ahead, petrol. What's up? How you doing there? Very well, man. Thank you. Awesome. Awesome.

I just think I think Tom Brady should just hang it up and just know enjoy enjoy retirement because I mean, he's he's done everything that he can do and he's if they don't give him a good offensive line, wherever he goes, he's going to hurt himself. Oh, absolutely. Sure. You know, and I'm I'm I'm I'm alone.

I'm alone. Has you don't think he has any more left in the tank? He can still play. I don't know. I think I think I think he's pushing it, man.

Oh, yeah. Forty six. He's gonna be forty six in August. He's been pushing it for a minute now, but he's still going. Yeah, he's still going. But I mean, he's too flat footed. He can't even he can't even roll out of the pocket and throw and throw, you know, saying a check down. I mean, I know that he I mean, he's like, I'm a fan.

He burned us. But the thing is, I'm just saying I was just like him to retire, you know, saying like be a commentator and just go on with his life, man. The guy got a good life. I mean, why keep risking it and then get hurt? Hey, man, Petro, you love something, right? Don't you love something? Yeah, you know, I mean, but I mean, look at it. Look at what he's lost. He's lost his wife.

I mean, the prettiest thing or one of the prettiest things walk in the world. And I mean, what is what is it? I guess if he had enough to lose, he might well keep playing, keep playing. Hey, listen, we just we just solved the equation right there, didn't we? That's crazy, man. His 37 million dollars per year isn't going anywhere. Let's let's put it that way. OK, whenever he decides to quit, he got a nice landing spot on television.

That ain't going anywhere. That's true, man. Hey, I love your show. I love you, brother. I worked. I worked.

I worked the graveyard shift and I listened to you every night. And I just it's a pleasure talking to you. And you be well, brother. You as well, Petro. Thank you for calling up from here in Atlanta.

Next time we go to Magic City together. Eight five five two one two four CBS eight five five two one two four CBS. Kevin is here from Clearwater. You're on CBS Sports Radio.

Hey, can I ask you something? Did Tom Brady lose that game by himself last night? Kevin, turn the radio down in the background for. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Yes, sir.

Did Tom Brady lose that game by himself? Is that a trick question? No, no, sir. No.

Who would you rather have in there besides the vote? Oh, well, I got it. You know everything about every slow down. Be quiet. Golly, what does God do? Have eight beers before he called me up.

That's a very simple question. He's like, hey, did Tom Brady play the game by himself? Hey, shop, I should play along with him, right?

Yeah, you can make the best of it, as you usually do. Well, let's hold on. Let's go back and pick him back up. Let's see. Let's see if he's even still talking. Hey, Kevin, from Clearwater, you still there?

You a hater, bro. Well, yeah. Well, hold on. I got a I got a question for you. Let's go.

Let's go ahead. Tom Brady lost the game all by himself last night. What else? Well, I didn't watch the two minute warning when I got on the side of the in the Mike Evans drop that ball.

Did you? I don't know what I don't know what football is in his hands. I don't know what football is. Who is Mike Evans? Who is that? Who's Mike Evans? Yes, sir. Who is Mike Evans?

Mike Evans. Oh, man. Yes, he does. How are you going to tell me? Hey, shop, why is it he still does he realize he's talking to himself? He's so fired up. He doesn't know what's going on right now. Let's see. He's cursing me out right now.

I don't think I don't think. No, I like that he calls you, sir. I like that.

Kevin, I like that. He did what? He did call you, sir, a couple of times. So there is some esteem in this guy. Oh, but he's talking. He doesn't realize he's speaking to himself. Well, he doesn't realize that he's speaking over you while you're trying to have a conversation with him. No, he doesn't. Let's see this guy right here.

Oh, man. Did he call up to? Did he go?

I don't know. He liked the Tom Brady play that game by himself last night. Yeah, he did. There were 53 Tom Brady's on the field and the last time I checked Tom Brady was also missing kicks for the Dallas Cowboys. It's the JR Sportbreeze show here with you on CBS Sports Radio eight five five two one two four CBS. I'm going to take more of your calls on Tom Brady and maybe Tom Brady to have a better season if this guy played. His name is Rob Gronkowski. He actually spoke today. He said he considered playing. And it wasn't for the Buccaneers.

I'm going to share that with you on the other side. It's the JR Sportbreeze show on CBS Sports Radio. You're listening to the JR Sportbreeze on CBS Sports Radio.

You're listening to the JR Sportbreeze on CBS Sports Radio. Thank you, man. We love you down here in Texas. OK, Joe.

Hey, how you doing, man? I love your show. Love the topic. Thank you. I'll be listening again in the future.

This is a great show. Call in now at eight five five two one two four CBS. It's the JR Sportbreeze show here on CBS Sports Radio. We've been talking about Tom Brady and his future. The best landing spot for the man. Is it on another NFL team?

Is it on his couch? Is it just taking that job that's waiting for him at Fox? And I think all things considered, he should go to the Raiders or he should just stay his ass on home.

Before I get back to some of your phone calls and then give you an update on Rob Gronkowski, who decided to share an interesting tidbit about the possibility that he could have played this past season. I'm going to let you know about the defensive player of the week who's sponsored by the Navy Federal Credit Union, who proudly serves the armed forces, DOD veterans and their families. Their members are the mission.

You can learn more at Navy federal dot org. And who the hell is it? He's a defensive end for the Cincinnati Bengals. He didn't have to do a whole lot of work. He had four tackles this past Sunday against the Ravens. But ultimately, as a gigantic human being, he decided to return a fumble 98 yards to ultimately help win the game for the Bengals 24 to 17.

His name is Sam Hubbard. Yeah, I mean, look, a big man got to run 98 yards, get all the help in the world to get there. He's the Navy Federal Credit Union defensive player of the week. And speaking of the Bengals, I want to talk about this as well. It's one thing to think about the the playing futures of Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady. Joe Burrow is going to get paid. It's just a matter of when he gets paid, how much he gets paid, and how much the Cincinnati Bengals decide to potentially nickel and dime him on the way. Because it is the Bengals. We're going to talk about Joe Burrow and his contract situation. His owner has made it clear for about a year now. He's like, yeah, yeah, it'd be nice if, you know, maybe he took a little bit of a discount so we can add some other players. And I hope we can fit him in.

But we'll get to that momentarily. 855-212-4CBS. Let's get a few more calls in before I tell you what happened with Rob Gronkowski. Albert is calling from Ontario, Canada. You're on CBS Sports Radio. Hey, J.R. Nice to meet you. First time callers.

Thank you. Anyways, I'm a diehard Dolphins fan. And, you know, I think maybe a one year contract for Brady. I was the concussions that to us had, you know, they've got the defense. They've got probably two of the best receivers in the league.

Quick, two of the quickest receivers in the league. Brady could do a lot of damage in Miami. So, but what do you do with Tua Tonga Veloa, especially understanding that you have to make a decision on his contract options?

Oh, yeah, of course. But it's his health too, right? Yeah, but all things considered, he's going to be available to play at the beginning of the season.

So what happens? You bring Tom Brady on for one year, it doesn't work. You've maybe jettisoned Tua off to who knows where. Why can't you keep him? He is their future. Brady's not going to be there over a year. But why not put Tua down as the backup for just one season?

Well, I think that's a that's a difficult thing to do when you're trying to figure out the his his contract option on the back end. Because if you decide to keep him on the bench and then you're just going to make him a backup to sit and watch Tom Brady, then you have even more questions about justifying his salary. This man is going to get paid, I believe, twenty two million dollars just to be a bench guy for Tom Brady. That's no, I didn't realize he was going to get twenty two million. I guess then Brady's not going to end up in Miami.

I thought I was. Here's a deal. It's not twenty two for this upcoming season. As he finishes up his rookie contract, he's going to get ten million dollars.

That's for a Tua Tonga Veloa. Yeah. And he's a good very he was before he got here. Hold on. Hold on, Albert. It doesn't just stop there.

The Miami Dolphins will have to figure out whether or not they want to pick up the fifth year of his contract. It's it's a difficult thing to do if you're going to now pay him and pick up his deal when you're telling him to sit his ass down for a year. It's it's tough. Yeah. No, I can understand that.

And I can relate to that. That makes sense. I'm just you know what? I was just thinking because of the fact that he's been hurt and they've talked about him maybe not being able to come back. Who knows?

I don't know. I just all I'm saying is anyway. Well, my my take on it is great. Obviously, Brady's not going to go to San Fran because whatever. I keep forgetting the new kid's name. His name is. And he's got a shot at winning his first Super Bowl in his first year. So, yeah, we know that. Well, we got to get through the season first, Albert, like Brock Purdy could all of a sudden turn to a pumpkin. And they go, oh, well, we don't want to keep the guy around if they continue to have success, which it looks like.

Then, yeah, it's going to be difficult to justify bringing him in. Absolutely. Without a shadow of a doubt. Eight five five two one two four CBS Ted is calling from Atlanta. Yes, sir. How are you doing? I'm good. What do you think about Tom Brady? What should he do next?

Well, I told your producer I thought to go with J.R. Wright with the silver and black. Now I'm going to rethink this a little bit. I mean, he can go there. But here's the thing. He's played twenty three years. I think there are one season, maybe two that he missed through entry.

It's so unusual for somebody to play that long and not get real, not get real banged up. So my thing is, since it's not going to be moving any better next year than he did this. Why not take the first job? Why not be able to go see your son's play football? Yeah, well, that that that that would be ideal. That's a that's definitely an option.

We know that that's there. I think he's made some choices already. If he is going to play football. Yeah, he can go anywhere or he can stay home.

Sure. Speaking of staying home. We know who did not play football with Tom Brady this year. His name is Rob Gronkowski. He actually stayed retired and he decided to stay retired after Tom Brady basically said, I ain't playing.

But that's not to say that there weren't discussions. Tom Brady was on Jason and Travis Kelsey's podcast. And Rob Gronkowski, who I think all of us know, is from western New York and Buffalo. He was on their new height show and he was talking about how, yeah, the Bills are his hometown team.

And then he almost played for them this past season. This is what Rob Gronkowski had to say. OK, now I'm retired again, so I want to bring this back up. I'm kind of a Buffalo Bills fan now again. Now that I'm not playing no more, I'm like, dang. How cool that would be to play for the Buffalo Bills. I actually thought about it when Tom retired this year. I was like, all right. Like I was I didn't really feel like playing football again after this year. And I was like, ah, I was like, Tom retired. I was like, let me I'm going to check out some other teams. I was actually in talks with the Buffalo Bills a little bit. They wanted me to come up there. And it just it just wasn't there, though.

Just, you know, in my mindset was there. I would I would probably most likely be in Buffalo right now playing with. Well, Rob Gronkowski is 33 years old. He's going to be 34.

We know that he has taken his own beating throughout the course of his career. I still would not be shocked if Rob Gronkowski played again. Obviously, every year that that goes by that he's not active in the league.

You know, you get a little bit of a shock and a surprise there. In 2021, he had eight hundred yards receiving six touchdowns. He did that in 12 games. And who knows, maybe he's considering this to be another another rest year. It's Rob Gronkowski. Who the hell is ever going to call? You know what he's thinking about or what's next on the agenda?

It's a it's a difficult thing to do. Kaleem is calling from Houston, Texas. You're on CBS Sports Radio. Hey, thanks for taking my call. I really appreciate it.

Love the show. I think I think Brady should he should go to San Francisco one night. Purdy, he could he could sit in for a year because I'm pretty sure wherever Brady go is not going to be a long contract. So why can't Purdy sit and watch learn from the best?

Maybe they get a Super Bowl and then Brady could hang it up and go right off in the sunset and retire with a Super Bowl win at home. Yeah, no, it's it's reasonable. It sounds good. But, you know, when when you have somebody who's on a roll, it's like, why? Why fix something that ain't broke? You know, if you're having success with Purdy and you know that he is your future and you're already close. Let's be real.

We don't know. There's nothing guaranteed. There's no guarantee that the 49ers are going to win the Super Bowl, but they're certainly close. And here on the back end of the season while Purdy got thrown into the fire, he's had amazing success up until now. And so if you can have success with him, what's the need for Tom Brady to come in? I get it. Another thing, I think the situation with Miami, you know, Brady always had trouble facing Miami Dolphins.

Always. So I was like, if we can't beat him, join them, I guess. He always, Brady, for some reason, he could never, he always had trouble with Miami Dolphins. So this is like, this is like LeBron James going to Miami.

You know, this is like Durant getting beat by Oklahoma or excuse me, getting beat by the Warriors and then joining them, huh? Oh, yeah. Yeah. Okay. All right. Appreciate you, Colleen. Yes, sir.

Thanks, Jay. No doubt about it. Yeah, I think Tom Brady ain't thinking about that. Tom Brady has been out here, has beat every team, whooped every team, come back just about every team, embarrassed everybody. Some teams more than others.

I will not name them. I don't think he's looking at it that way. Can't beat him, join him. I think Tom Brady's just saying to himself, man, do I want to do this again? I think he will. I would be shocked. I'd be shocked if Tom Brady just flat hung him up. I think he's going to continue on his career. It's just a matter of where.

And I think the silver and black are the best option. I know one of our callers said, oh, well, you know, he's he's not necessarily going to move any better next year. Yeah, probably not. But I don't think Tom Brady is cratered into the abyss when it comes to his talent level. We saw what he can still play without a shot of a doubt. He ain't moving. But this man can still play.

And it's half of the job with Tom Brady is done before the ball is even snapped. I think there's a lot of teams that would still take him on. Still a little surprised. One of our callers suggested the New York Jets. Now, if that ever happens, I'd be I'd be shocked.

Shocked. It's the chair of sport brief show here on CBS Sports Radio. When we come back, I want to talk to you about Joe Burrow and his situation.

He ain't retiring, but eventually he's going to have to get paid. And we know the Bengals are cheap. We'll talk about it and I'll get to your calls here on CBS Sports Radio.
