Hey, thank you so much to Joe Shasky for joining us. Coming through from the Bay Area to talk about the Golden State Warriors. We got more NBA warming up tonight. and they were actually minutes away from kickoff. Thursday night football.
A damn good game. A major game. We have the 11-3 Los Angeles Rams. Getting ready to take on the 11-3 Seattle Seahawks. The last time these two teams went at it, the Rams beat the Seahawks 21-19 took place last month.
Sam Darnold. He went out there and threw four interceptions. Is he going to do that tonight at home? Probably not. but I still would not bet on this man to win.
Bet on the Seahawks defense. Also, keep in mind, Devontae Adams.
Well hampered with a hamstring injury.
So let's see what Well, Matthew Stafford, what he's able to do with Puka Nakua. who's been a very busy putting his foot in his mouth. over the past several days.
So we've discussed a lot to talk more NFL. In about twenty minutes, we're going to have a conversation with Matt Verderam. He's going to join us from SI to talk all things NFL. Let's see. Eight eight eight seven ten four I S N is the number.
That's eight at eight seven ten four I SN I'm in Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you to our producer in New York City, Ryan Botcher. I'm gonna hit the phones. And I want to talk about this matchup that's getting ready to kick off on Amazon Prime, which every time I turn on Amazon, Welcome to the Holidays. They're trying to make me buy something.
I can't even watch a game. Click here to buy this. Click here to buy How can I turn this crap off? I mean, I pay enough money for Amazon, I should have the full option to Just be left to hell alone. It's almost like that stupid thing that now comes in Alexa.
You talk to Alexa, and the next thing you know, it's just like, hey, tell me the weather. And then I get the weather. And then they're trying to sell me a million things out. No, I don't need a thermometer for inside of my house. Just tell me the weather so I can go outside.
Stupid machines. Eight eight eight seven ten four I S N Larry is here from Alabama. You on the J R Sport B Show, Larry. What's up? Hey, Joe.
Uh course, uh you And Wayne Clare and then all the guys on the weekends that kept me going some of my DoorDash at night. I am going to miss the hell out of you guys.
So, but I appreciate all you've done for me.
Well thank you. What's up? Uh, the WNBA, you know, usually when there's a work stoppage, It's cause the players want More the prophets.
Well, there aren't any profits. The league loses money. It's subsidized by the NBA. I mean, I understand that they're critical athletes, they're entertaining, they do a great job, but. I don't know how you go to your boss, you lose your money if they pay me more.
Yeah, well, I think they understand, and I agree with you. And this is, I'm not mad at them for trying to find creative ways to get their hands on more money. I mean, they have been losing money, they've been subsidized by the NBA for the better part of now, going on 30 years.
So it makes all the sense in the world. But one thing that does make sense with the amount of money that they're about to make with incoming basketball revenue off of distribution on streaming and TV and whatnot, they want a higher percentage of the pie. I think historically you look at most leagues, the owners, the players, they split the money about 50-50.
Well the WNBA, the last time that I looked, they're a little bit closer to about nine and ten percent. And I I'm not upset with them if they say, Hey, we we want a little bit Higher of that pie. I mean, is it going to have to increase over the next several years to get them closer to 50-50? I mean, there are different mechanisms that might trigger it, but I hear what you're saying. There's a lot of people who want their money back and want to make more money before they start splitting the cash.
But if you're the players, I get it. I understand. They see the money coming in and they want their share. See, it's a lot more complicated. The other thing is, Precautionary failed.
The National Hockey League. which was in a lot better financial position than we Good NBA is now. They had a work stop that didn't almost till the NHL. It was like ten years you couldn't find it on T V. It's just now getting back to where you can find it on the mainstream things.
You know, you had to go to the CW and I don't know what else to find hockey for a long time. Let's be real. I mean, every single league. In the United States of America, at some point in time, some more and longer than others, has incurred or endured a work stoppage. We've seen it multiple times in baseball.
We've seen it with the NBA, we've seen it with the NFL. Everybody has gone through a work stoppage. And now we just happen to be in a different era, especially we're now. Things are streaming, and you know you can get access to more games, and you can build more fans. You don't have to worry about your local market.
Local television revenue is all changing.
So we're in a changing world, and so it's an interesting time for the WNBA. Their agreement is coming up, and we know Major League Baseball, they're right around the corner.
Well, thanks to you, I really appreciate your insight. That's one of the reasons I listen to you, give a take on things, that is that. You know, cut and dried. It's got some nuance to it.
So, again, I appreciate all y'all done. And good luck in the future, and I'll be looking for you. Thank you so much, Larry. You be well. Happy holidays to you Yeah.
Thank you so much. Shout out to Larry for calling from Alabama. Yeah, you know, as it looks right now, WNBA players receive. About seven to nine percent. of a cut.
of the money that comes in. Whereas the NBA, NFL, they typically get closer to about 50%.
So, I mean the WNBA players. And I don't know, there's there's different ways to do this. In a lot of cases, you might say, hey, you know, as the league continues to grow in popularity over the next several years, that our cut is going to do this if we make this amount of money or do this. But at the same time, I can understand not wanting to wait if the money is there right now. And so, if they don't want to torpedo the business, they're going to have to come to an agreement, or the WN big players are going to have to capitulate and give in.
Because, in most cases, you know who typically has the power to kind of push things and people around? The owners do. and the players don't. unless they feel that they can go ahead and start their own league, of which they have started quite a few. Uh women like Nafisa Collier have have started their own leagues and Unrivaled, and we're going to do this and that.
If they feel that's more viable, then they may go that route.
So we'll see what happens. But I mean the structure is already there. and sometimes it's better to form a partnership and keep rolling with what you have than to Start something from scratch, which has its own challenges when it comes down to scale. And eventually, a lot of companies they all get big. and everybody has to figure out how they can just all go out there.
and make some money. As simple as that. eight eight eight seven ten four I S N That's 888-710-4ISN. We're minutes away from kickoff in Seattle. Seattle Seahawks hosting the Los Angeles Rams.
Both teams, 11-3. The Rams have won eight out of their last nine games. I told you they beat the Seahawks last month, 21-19. They forced Sam Donald into going out there and throwing four interceptions. And then, meanwhile, the quarterback for the Rams, Matthew Stafford, he's been on a heater.
37 touchdowns. to only five interceptions. He's thrown f Well damn it, 14. of those touchdowns. To Devontae Adams, he leads the NFL in touchdown receptions, but he's running around with a bum hamstring.
Puka Nakua expected to get a lot of work today, the same Puka who had to apologize for unknowingly sharing. Anti-Jewish mannerisms, and he apologized for it. But when it comes to football, Puka Nakua says. Yeah, I like football. Uga, Uga.
We have a special group here, and there's no better moment than this Thursday coming up. Yeah, like you said, two teams who have been playing really great football, and it'll be another opportunity to show what we've been doing. Yeah, man, and this Seahawks defense is crazy. One of the best defenses in the entire NFL. They've only given up 25 points combined in the last three games.
The Seahawks have only given up one touchdown in their last three games. Damn it, I saw them here a couple of weeks ago in person against the Falcons, and they basically snuffed them out. The Falcons, we know the Falcons suck, but they couldn't breathe. It was bird on bird crime, and it was horrific. For the Falcons.
The Seahawks are riding high, and Matthew Stafford, he knows. We've both got 11-3 records. This is going to be a tough one. Big time opponent going on the road at their place, difficult scheme, a bunch of great players on that side.
So it'll be a huge challenge whether we were playing Sunday, Monday, Thursday, whatever day of the week.
Well, let's hear from the other quarterback, the one who threw four interceptions. in the last game. The guy who the last time he also played them before that was playing for the Minnesota Vikings, and also had his lunch handed to him in the postseason. The Los Angeles Rams have looked at Sam Darnold and they said You suck. Hey, Sam, how de hell are you going to get over the hump?
Receivers getting an extra block on a guy down the field. Just all the little things to continue to get yards down the field. And like I mentioned after the game, you know, we just got to you know, continue to do a better job in the red zone of just executing. Oh, okay. He has to do a better job.
He's talking about people getting extra blocks and getting extra yards. And then you can talk about all that you want the other guys to do. What about you? You're going to throw the football to the right team, or I don't know. The Los Angeles Rams are going to get gifts.
to go ahead and run into the end zone. Seahawks have one of the best wide receivers in the game, Jackson, Smith and Jigva. They go ahead and add a a versatile threat In the passing game, the return game, Rasheed Shaheed from the New Orleans Saints, who they acquired right at the deadline, Yeah, this is good for the Seahawks. They they tryna go out here and do some damage. And for two teams with the same record, They just saw each other.
They're trying to end up with the number one spot in the NFC West. And damn it, the team that wins tonight. May actually end up being the overall number one seed in the postseason. That means that they're going to get an opportunity to play at home. through all of the rounds, including receiving that buy.
Head coach of Seattle Mike McDonald said Listen, man, We know each other very well. It's not going to be easy. Teams a second time, there's a different spectrum of how long those games are in between.
Sometimes, like, you know, we play the Niners, it can be a whole season's worth. Yeah, it's hard to go off that tape, but... There's a lot off that tape, you know, within four games. Things change, huh? Or Sean McVay, boy wonder Boy wonder, genius boy, wonder.
I guess he's not a genius boy anymore. Sean McVay says the same thing. We played each other about a month ago, and even though we beat him, I think both teams are different, okay. It is close, but You know, you've been able to see how they've been able to evolve and adjust. And, you know, and they've been winning games and playing at a really high level, as good as anybody in the league.
When it comes to tonight, and good on this. Congratulations to the 49ers. They're a game behind both of these teams, good for them. It's amazing what the Forty Niners have been able to do despite all of their injuries throughout the course of the season. I'm going with the Rams.
I think the Rams have the best coach. I think the Rams have the most experience, apparently. I think we know that. The Rams have won a Super Bowl. The Rams also have the quarterback in Matthew Stafford, who I think is going to win his first NFL MVP.
And I think the Rams are on their way. To another Super Bowl. And I think Matthew Stafford, all things considered, is on his way. To establish himself or a Hall of Fame career, especially in the If they get to and ultimately win another Super Bowl. And so I'm really looking forward to tonight's matchup.
And the reality is I am not trusting I will not trust Sam Darnold in a big game. I don't. Like sometimes I watch him play, and instead of waiting and watching for him to throw the ball to a teammate for a touchdown. The ball is released from his hands, and and I'm waiting to see if he throws it to the opposition. That's it?
I will not trust Sam Darnold. I wouldn't trust Sam Donnell to carry my kid across the street. I wouldn't trust him if I were an old lady, if I needed help crossing the street. I wouldn't trust Sam Donald if he said, Hey, do you need some help with your groceries? No, they would end up, guess where, where?
In The street. No, thank you, Sam Darnold. not trusting this guy. Not at all. Hey Bacha, how you feel about tonight's game?
I personally am surprised. I looked at the odds. It's it's actually surprising that the Rams are not favored on the money line at least. Seahawks are supposed to win this game according to. I think check DraftKings.
So that's shocking. I really. Don't know why. Maybe it's 'cause Devontae Adams, of course, is out with the hamstring, but Their receiving corpse always step up. Always with Matthew Safford and Sean McVac and s mutually get anyone open with his play calling.
So it's just I think it depends on, like you said. Can Sam Darnold just hand the ball off and make the throws when he needs to? And it's not hard to hit JSN. Not not at all. They're talking to Jackson, Smith, and Jigba right now before the game.
And here's the other element: the Seattle Seahawks, their run game. Has been pathetic throughout the course of the season. And so, knowing that when the going gets tough, as we go through the next couple of weeks and the weather is not all that good in different locales, and they go into the postseason. It's it's not gonna be easy. when you just need to get some yards on the ground and the guy you're looking at It's Sam Donnelly.
Hey, Sam, we can't run the ball. You gotta throw it. And I think those are the instances where Sam Donald is gonna throw your ass. right out of the postseason. Let's see if he can go on a run where he could change things up.

Hey, we got Thursday night football underway right now. Los Angeles Rams and the Seahawks. We got music that makes me want to punch somebody. Yeah, don't turn the music up. Yeah, music makes me want to play football and punch somebody in the mouth.
And right now, We're being joined by someone who knows about writing and punching people in the mouth. We're being joined by an NFL staff writer, covers all things NFL for SI. You can catch him with his own show on Patreon. Welcome back to the show, Matt Verdoran. Matt, how are you?
Doing well. I played hockey for a long time, so I know all about having to occasionally punch somebody in the game. Yeah, you are punching lots of people in the mouth.
Well, right now we're trying to see what happens tonight. We got this big matchup that just got started between the Seahawks and the Rams. They're going to be punching each other in the mouth. You know, I just told everybody I don't have a lot of faith in Sam Darnold when the going gets tough. What are your impression on both of these teams as we wind the season down?
So, look, I think the Rams are the best team in football right now by a somewhat healthy margin. There are eleven and three. Two of the losses came early in the year because they couldn't do anything. And I mean anything in the kicking game. They...
They gave away the game against Philly. They gave away the game against the 49ers. Uh that all being said. Look, I I do believe They Seattle has a massive opportunity here. If Seattle wins this game, they get involved in three.
There's no reason to think that they can't win this division. And if they win the division, they're going to be the one seed. I mean, with Philadelphia having their three-game losing free, he can. The the Bears having a loss against the the Packers a couple of weeks back. There's no reason to think.
That whoever wins this game is going to be the one seed, and if that's the case. It's going to be tough to go into BCL. I agree with you. The Darnold thing scares the heck out of me. He has not ever been good in big spots.
Um The Rams have been a house of horrors for 'em, team of horrors for 'em, but They're right where they need to be and Seattle's been really consistent all year.
So I I think right now you're watching the two best teams of football going at it.
Well, let's see what happens tonight, the implications that has for the NFC West as well as the number one overall seed. You mentioned San Francisco. They're right behind them. Ten wins and four losses despite all of the injuries that they've had to deal with throughout this season. What are your thoughts on Shanahan and how he's just able to always keep this team afloat and more regardless of what changes are around them?
Yeah, it's a tremendous coaching job, right? I mean, there's a lot of guys that are in the coach of the year category. You know, Ravel's right up there, Liam Cohen's up there, Shanahan. Uh on and on. Uh Ben Johnson.
But Shanahan Well, it's not like who you are. you lose your starting quarterback for basically half the year. Yu Brandon Ayuk just never bothered to show up and play football this year. Um Warner Bosa gone. And they lost guys in the offseason.
Huh Funko's gone, Greenlaw's gone, Trevor's Ward's gone. And you're tenant four? That I mean, I I know their schedule's been light. I get it. But they did.
They they beat the Rams and the Seahawks on the road this year, both of them.
So it's not like they h they've been some paper tiger, hasn't beaten anybody.
Well, they're beating games. Um It's a tremendously impressive job. I think Robert Sola deserves a ton of credit as a DC there. Look, the coach the the head coaching opportunity in New York didn't go the way he wanted it to go, although I would argue that Vince Lombardy couldn't win with the Jets. Um, but Sala is one of the better coordinators in football.
And between him on the defensive side and Shanahan on the offensive side, like you're not going to see a better coach team. They are not going to beat themselves, and they've proven that, and they're absolutely a team in the NFC playoffs that. as long as they get in, will be very dangerous. Matt Verderam is here with us, NFL staff writer for Sports Illustrated, to keep talking about the NFC. You mentioned the Philadelphia Eagles.
I mean, just yesterday, we started to get some words that the Eagles might be fed up. What a shock with A.J. Brown and might look to move him in the offseason. Are they going to have to shed that weight before they get back to a championship? Or do you still think there's a chance for them to repeat this year, realistically?
Never want to roll it out. Um But this year's been really tough for them. And look, their record's fine, right? I mean, they're. Their record, they're gonna win the East.
They're going to probably be the third seed. Um This has been a bad year for the Eagles. And I think they tell you that. This has been you know, this Eagles team I ironically kinda reminds me a lot of Lashers Can't Six Day. Where They're winning enough games and and that she seemed like I mean they won fifteen games, but Where you watched them and just went Yeah, they're winning, but man, this is this is rough.
This is just really, really tough. Um I think no matter what happens after this year, They're going to have to retool. I think that's pretty obvious. And I think that's where things are headed, whether they want a playoff game. Or or they don't.
But I I I think it's uh it's gonna be really tough for them to repeat. Matt Verdoram here with us on the JR Sport Brief Show. This is a, well, I almost don't want to say it's tough, but we saw a couple of guys go down over the weekend with these ACLs, including Michael Parsons. We'll get to. Patrick Mahomes in a minute there.
You know, I looked at Green Pay as being one of these teams that wouldn't surprise me if they went to the Super Bowl, but I think now missing that premier edge rusher, I don't have the same type of confidence in them. Do you feel the same way? Yeah, yeah, much. I felt about the Packers for a couple of years now. Like every every year in training camp Sports Illustrated sends us all on our our respective training camp course.
And based outside Chicago, I always do the Midwest.
So I always hit All the teams in the NFC North, I see Indy, I see Cincy, I see Cleveland, I see City, so on and so forth. And every year I see the Packers. I think about the same thing. I think about this is a talented team. It's a good team.
I like the coach a lot. But They don't have the guy. Who is the guy? And then they got parsons, and it was like, okay. And craft developed.
Those are the guys. Those are the guys. And now they're both done for the Earth Tornadase shells. And I just In this year, it's so wide open. Yes, like I do think.
There's a world where the Packers are playing in the NFC title game. That's possible. But I think it's a lot tougher. They're going to have to play almost perfect football. Love's going to have to be spectacular.
Jacobs is going to have to really carry the mail. They're going to need Rashawn Gary to be a superstar and not just a borderline star player. Ah. I I still like them. But I don't I don't think they have the feeling that they had before those guys got hurt.
You talk about injuries. I know you cover the Kansas City Chiefs. We know they're not going to the postseason. We don't know when we will see Patrick Mahomes following the ligament tears in his knee. I don't want to say the injury for the best, but knowing that he's going to have some time to recuperate.
Slow things down. Is this not for the better for the Chiefs to get a reset?
Well Well I think I think what this whole season has done Is it has forced them, and by them I really mean Andy Reid, Fred Veach. It's forced them to take a look in the mirror here and say, All right, well, like, what are we doing? Because. I know this is going to sound bizarre to anybody who's not a Chiefs fan, but the the last three years for them, Even though they've gone to the Super Bowl twice and won one of them, The offense has gotten worse and worse and worse every year. And in 2023, they won because they had an unbelievable defense.
And Mahomes, to his credit, made plays in the playoffs and did did what he needed to do and did Mahomesian thing. And last year, they were great in the fourth quarter. And that's why they want all the games that they want. This year, that's reversed, and that's why they're 6-8. I don't think this team's much different talent-wise than last year's team.
They just played a lot better in the fourth quarter last year. and they really kind of danced on that high wire a lot better. But you know look. What's off season? And they would tell you this.
I've talked to people in that building over the last few weeks. They know they need to revamp that defensive line around Chris Jones. They know they need to completely overhaul the running back run. They know that they need to do something different in the depth portion of that wide receiver room. Like this is.
This is coming. And I don't look I don't think their mindset is anything other than we're going to get back to Super Bowl next year. We will retool. We will regroup. You will be back week one and we will get rolling.
But. Um Fuck, I do think that this whole season, regardless of his injury. is force them to really consider how they have to change.
Well, Matt, knowing that there will be no Chiefs in the postseason this year. Do you think Buffalo, is this their season? Or are we going to have one of these younger upstarts, the New Englands, the the Denver Broncos, maybe even Jacksonville? Who do you think has the the leg up with the Chiefs out? I think that the favorite and a slight one because they're probably gonna be a Wildcard team on the road for a week now, two, probably three of the games, is Buffalo because of that one.
But I would say this, but if you're the Bills, you better win this year. If you don't win this year, that is a disaster.
Okay, and I. I know, like, I'm I'm I'm a bunch I'm I'm a friend of a bunch of people who cover the bills up there and and there's kinda this thought of like well It's not fair to say it's a disaster if they don't win because You yeah, it is. Yeah it is. It it's if they don't win if they don't at minimum get to the Super Bowl this year, That's a disaster. Are you You have to do that.
You have to get through this conference. No, look, I have to take nothing away. From Denver, who's deservedly going to be the one seed here borrowing some real big surprise. And New England, who's had an excellent year. And Jacksonville, who the last seven weeks has scoring over 32 points a game.
You have all the experience. You have the best quarterback in the playoffs. You've got to get there. I don't care if you're on the road. Like, you've got to find a way.
And I would argue with them. Like if you don't. Yeah, that's going to be something that you're sitting there all offseason going, how in the world did we not get there? I I I think that's just the reality for the Bills. It's an odd thing to be a wildcard team under an immense amount of pressure.
I think that's where they're going to find themselves.
Well, I mean, they they had a lot of pressure last year and now with no Mahomes, no chiefs. They they gotta turn things around. Speaking of a turnaround, Miami Dolphins are benching to a tongue of a lower. There have been a lot of conversations about what the Dolphins do throughout the course of the season. Mike McDaniel is still there.
Greer has been fired as the GM. Do you think Tu has thrown his last pass in Miami? Yeah. Because by benching him. They're not benching him for a guy who you're like, oh, he's the future.
They're benching him for Quinn of yours. But they're not. They're just done with they don't want to watch them anyway. They're done with them. They're fed up And you know, Jerry, it's not just the way he's played on the field or he's been bad on the field.
It's also been all this stuff in the press conferences The odd the odd answers, the weirdness, like throwing guys under the bus at times. I just think he's lost the room. How do you lost the room? Like, when you lose the room, you're done. You're done.
Like, There's there's no coming back from it. I mean, unless unless you're an all-time great player, maybe Just because you're that level of a player, you can kind of win the room back through your play. He hasn't done that. And so if you're Mike McDaniel and they do keep him, and I think there's a reasonable chance they will. I think you might be gaming.
You're going to ownership. You're going to Steven Ross and say, Melissa. I can I can win. But I can't win with this guy. And I and I I get it.
Like we You know, we we have them long term. But the GM who signed him isn't here anymore. And we gotta move off 'em. The hard thing's gonna be who's gonna trade for 'em. Because he's got three years left.
His cap hits are not massive for a starting quarterback, but they're significantly over 30 million. And so, who's going to trade? I look at a team like the Raiders. It's a team I keep my eye on with that. Oh, my goodness.
Well right but right, and that that is the correct response. But do the Raiders like they are like Geno Smith has been awful And they have shown no patience whatsoever. Pete Carroll, if they keep Pete Carroll, is going to be 75 years old in September. Like You don't have time to have a five-year rebuild. You'll be 80 years old.
Like, you've got to. You gotta do something.
So, look, I think I think between Tyler Murray and Tua this offseason, very, very interesting see what happened. And we'll see what happens. I got one more quarterback to talk with you about before I let you go. This is another team with a quarterback that's gone to the Super Bowl, one of the best in the league, but once again on the sideline, giving sullen answers, okay, and that's Joe Burrow. A lot of talk about him.
I don't think he's going anywhere. Do you think this is smoke and mirrors? What do you think is going on? Look, if you know anything about the Bengals. It it it's gonna it's gonna take.
An unbelievable amount. For them to trade Joe Burrow at any point. I mean, that's just not. They're not going to get bullied. Mike Brown doesn't care.
Okay, Trey Henderson's been trying to get out of there for two and a half years. He can't do it. Like that. They're not going to move them. Um that being said, I will say I would be very worried about Shinsani just based on the way he's talking.
Like When you got a guy Who who's a smart guy, who knows what he's saying, is going to be parsed a million ways to start that. When you had a guy saying Yeah. You know, I you know, I just gotta think about, you know, if it's if it's fun for me and There's a lot going on, uh, you know, professionally and personally. He's putting out, so he's not happy. And that is In the NBA, we're so used to guys saying they're not happy and get traded like five days late, right?
But like in the NFL, you don't hear guys. Save that. Can you imagine if Mahomes walked up to the podium in Kansas City and was like I don't know if I'm happy. Like you would like that would be able to leave Sports Center for a month. And so I I think it now the Bengals here Look, Burroughs' been great.
He's been in the league now for six years. He he's hit the bus twice. Like at some point, it's got to change, and I think he's kind of realizing that here as he's approaching 30. Yeah. Bengals make people unhappy.
It's not a surprise there. They don't. None at all.

You know, one of the things that we discussed with Matt was just miserable quarterbacks. We got quite a few of them right now. Tuatonga Voloa not happy that he's been benched. And then we also have Joe Burrow, who's had to spend the past few weeks explaining to everybody: despite his injuries, despite the Bengals' four wins, despite not making the postseason. It's pretty much apparent that he's miserable, but he's not miserable enough to just walk on out the door.
Yeah, pretty difficult thing to do when he also owe you about $55 million a season. And the Bengals are a miserable franchise. They will allow you to just be miserable. I mean, it was only what, a couple days ago, about a week ago, that Joe Burrow was saying that he's not having fun personally in his life, professionally. Listen to this.
I want to keep doing this. I have to have fun doing it.
Okay. Uh You know, I've been through a lot and If it's not fun, then what am I doing it for? Uh So Let's The mindset I'm trying to bring to the table? Mine maybe I'm reading too much into it, but seemed frustrating. Um there's just a lot of things going on right now.
A lot of things going on right now. I'll do both. Like you said, there's nothing. All we can do is is focus week to week and try to try to win games. I don't think anybody's Really thinking About the playoffs right now, that's Okay.
It's because That's within reach but on our fingertips so Just gotta keep going. what we're doing and try to get better. Yeah, it is not a damned thing to do to get better. And so he's miserable. And then last week or just yesterday he had to tell everybody, Yeah, yeah, I'm not I don't plan on going anywhere, but you never know, and who knows about it.
He's just uh he's just miserable right now. Can't blame them. 888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4. Before I ask in, let's go to Delaware and talk to Christian.
You're on the chair of Sport Reshow, Christian. What's up? Hi there. What's up with you? I just wanted to say that I love your show and I listen to you every night.
And you're my favorite person on the radio, and I just wanted to say thanks for all the good times. Yeah, you got it, Christian. Thank you so much. You can find me on line and keep up with me, all right? Of course.
Thank you so much. Okay. Shout outs to Christian for calling from Delaware. Thank you so much. Yeah, at JR Sport Brief, all over social media.
888-710-4ISN. He said he was going to. Call back on Monday, but here he is again, I guess, complaining about the Ravens. Rashawn from Baltimore, you're on the GR Sport Brief Show. No, JR.
I said I was going to call back every day until Monday. You know, since you know, Monday, your last day.
So, what do you have to share today in a 30-second span that we haven't set? Nothing. I'm not going to I don't even talk about the Cowboys. A lot of people hating and jealous of the Cowboys. You know, they're happy that we out the playoffs, but so we're going to get past that and everything.
But um, I heard you mention when I was on hold about Joe Burrow, right?
So if you're a GM Um um JR from another team. What's the most are you giving up three first number ones, four number ones for Joe Burrow at this point in his career? Uh That's tough. I don't know. It's the injuries.
And if you're a bad team, why do you want to invest that many first-round picks in a quarterback who unfortunately has been hurt when you can also utilize those picks to build pieces around?
So that's a lot to give up for a guy who's been hurt. And I think from the other end, because it takes two to tango, if I'm the Bangles, why am I doing that? Like, I'm not letting go of Joe Burrow. Unless he is just absolutely kicking and screaming that he doesn't want to be there. And I don't see that happening.
Yeah, I definitely agree. I had a friend of mine that said we was talking about possible teams that is a quarterback away from winning the Super Bowl, and one of the teams they brung up was the Cleveland Browns. They said the Cleveland Browns get Joe Burrows that would make them I I thought so. I'm like, you know, like that was that's just idiotic. You know, and this guy they gave up tons of first-round picks.
And they gave up and guaranteed money. A lot to get into Sean Watson.
So to throw that to already have his contract on the books. Deshaun Watson will be paid next year, whether it's Rain, sleet, hail, snow, or hell outside, Deshaun Watson is going to get paid. In what world, and there is no reasonable world, so this is a rhetorical question. In what world? Would they just go ahead and give up more picks for him?
They can't. It doesn't make sense for Sean.
So he'll be miserable. He'll be back next year. The bangles will be cheap. You know, I'll be making fun of them somewhere else, and the world will continue to revolve around the sun.
So, there we have it. Yeah, sucks for Joe Burrow, man. Give him 55 million to be miserable. I think it'd be okay. You're right.
You're right. You're right. But all right, JR. All right.
Okay. Talk to you Monday. Yeah, I talked to you the yep Monday. All the best. Shout out to Rashawn for calling from Baltimore.
Yeah, well he's just a miserable fellow. Here let's listen to him be more miserable. He explains how miserable he is yesterday to tell you he's not miserable while sounding miserable. In your mind, where you're not the quarterback of the Bengals next year? I can't see that, no.
Have you ever thought about the possibility of not being the quarterback here during your career? You think about a lot of things. When you look at quarterbacks over the course of their time, great ones. Payton. Brady.
Do you kind of have to understand that you never know what this league will bring? And what did you learn from watching how their careers unfolded? Yeah, like a lot of crazy things happen. every years. Um Micah Parsons got traded Right before the sea right before the season, I think this year.
Um that is a Something I hadn't seen. In a long time. In the NFL, so Crazy things gonna happen. Crazy things could happen. We know.
Bacha, what do they got? They got a stenographer in there? What the hell is all that typing? I don't know. That's one of my pet peeves with press conferences.
Where You don't like Either one, you don't have a silent keyboard, or two, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click. It's bad. That, like, I don't. I don't wanna hate on someone, but like Come on. There there's definitely different keyboards or laptops that don't make all that noise.
Yeah. Wow. They made all that noise and it It just makes Joe Burrows sound like he's in the doctor's office. It's just terrible. Like he's sitting there with the doctor, and the doctor's just pounding away.
At the keyboard. Damn, damn, damn. Damn, damn. Damn. He's certainly gotten miserable over the years, and I can get it.
He's making a lot of money. Last time we looked, they robbed his house. He's dating a supermodel. He ain't the happy go lucky guy like he was at L S U. And why is he?
People change as they get older. And God bless him. I hope one day he could be happy. You know, when he's not sitting there talking to them, I'm sure that he is outside of football. I hope.
I hope. He's been very dark. Through all the injuries and everything that's been going on.
So, all the best to Joe Burrow. It's the JR Sport Brief Show here with you, coast to coast, on the Infinity Sports Network. 888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4ISN. We're almost over.
