College football. We got games on Friday. We got football all weekend long. It's one hell. Of a holiday?
Okay? This show gets started every weekday, 6 p.m. Eastern. Three Pacific. I'm in Atlanta, Georgia.

And so we got a whole hell of a lot more. To do. Thank you to said when Covers all things NFL for the athletics, senior NFL writer. He joined us last hour. If you missed a minute or a second, go ahead and hit Rewind on the free Odyssey app.
You can always listen on your local affiliates. My Sirius XM channel three hundred seventy five. And a smart speaker. You got one of those? Ask the speaker So play.
the Infinity Sports networking if you want to call. You can do that too. eight eight eight seven ten four ISN That's eight eight eight seven ten. Before I N What a day Man, we got this ranking that came out. Let's go ahead and share that with you.
You know a whole long way to go. No surprises here. Yeah.
So we just got the latest College football playoff rankings they just dropped. Nothing nothing really crazy here. at the top. Ohio State is still number one. Indiana is still number two.
Texas AM. is still Number Three. The Georgia Bull Dogs are are still here at number four. We got Texas Tech. The Red Raiders, they just had their bye week.
They're sitting here at number five. And then we get the Oregon Ducks. The Oregon ducks are now sitting here. At number Yeah.
Okay, I mean they got that one against USC. Their next game they're going to take on Washington.
Now we all know about Jet Fish. I mean, we had uh Bach, what's my friend from Cincinnati? I feel disrespectful. Lee from Cincinnati called. He's like, Hey, I need jet fish in Florida.
And so, yeah, we'll we'll see what the Ducks do against Washington. They should be Washington, I would think. Uh we got old miss Yeah, the team that I think is going to lose their head coach. Bacha, wouldn't there be lots and it's not maybe not for people in O Miss. Wouldn't it be fun if they lost to Mississippi State?
Wouldn't it be fun? It would be in his like farewell game. Yeah.
Yeah.
It look it there's so many distractions surrounding old miss. that they lose the game. And then they announce after the game that Lane Kiffin is moving on. And then they just absolutely plummet, period, from the college football playoff rankings because the committee would look at them and go, why the hell do we have them here for? And they're just a dumpster fire.
And so I'm not I'm not rooting against old Miss. I am rooting against Lane Kiffin. Just the reality of it. And so old Miss is here at seven. You got the Sooners at eight.
Notre Dame is nine. Alabama is at ten. Miami, I'd never trust them in my damn life. Miami is eleven. And then you got you got too lame.
because they are not a part of the the the power for, Tulane would receive the last spot. they would receive the the cent. College football playoff spot.
So everybody gets a. How do I call I don't want to call that a I don't want to say it's a freebie. But I love Tulane. Shoutouts to the Green Wave. I love Louisiana.
I love New Orleans. I love the Green Wave. But. Who's taking him serious? This is.
Are we ever going to have a Cinderella? in a college football playoff? I I think the answer is is a no. I mean, maybe one year, but not Not right now. And so we got a bunch of nine and two teams here on the back end.
The only undefeated teams that we have is Texas AM, Indiana, and The Ohio State. University. I mean, I don't got no major takeaways because I don't take any of the latter teams. Serious, I doubt. I mean, once we start getting outside of the Ducks, I'm not taking any of these teams.
Serious. I'm not. Bacha, what are your thoughts? Do you have any on what we see here with these rankings? I am fully in agreement with basically everything in the top ten.
Um I I unless there's a significant loss this weekend, There's no real movement with these teams.
So it just I don't think there's gonna be a ton of movement, maybe besides Texas. Maybe see USC jump up if a t a couple of teams slip. But It's kind of really early, but you also can kind of guess who's going to be in the playoff at this point. Yeah.
Because I don't think the top 10 is going to change. It's it's not it's like we we got the we got the teams on the uh Just on the outside look, I don't want to say the outside looking in, but nobody's. are taking them seriously.
So you talk about some of these matchups and games that it might move the needle just a little bit.
Okay, we already talked about Ole Miss and Mississippi State, they go after it. On Friday, and that's an early game. That'll kick off on noon Eastern non-Pacific. I know here in Georgia, there's a lot of people gonna be down at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. As the Bulldogs are going to take on Georgia Tech, and Georgia Tech is just.
Kind of falling by the wayside here.
So I know everybody at UGA is going to hope to beat the living hell out of them and make them feel some pain. Of course, we got Texas AM at Texas. I know Texas, they just went out there and smoked Arkansas, but this is a game where people want to see. You know, if Texas and Arch Manning, if he can go out there and string together another amazing game and knock it off the team that is number three here. On the college football playoff rankings.
Of course, we got Arizona, Arizona State, and then, of course. In Ann Arbor. This is the game that everybody cares about. Everybody cares. V Ohio State University.
In Michigan. All right. What is what is Michigan playing for? They they wanna they wanna upset and rock the the apple cart. And let's put it this way It doesn't matter if you won a national championship.
It doesn't matter if you're Ryan Day. If they lose in any shape, way, or form to Michigan. People are not going to give a damn about a national championship. They're not. That's just the reality of it.
Bacha, remember that lady, uh, she crashed? What did she do? She crashed his uh. His golf cart after they won a championship. Remember that lady?
Oh, yeah. Yeah.
It was until the wall. It looked like that scene from Austin Powers where he was trying to make a U-turn in like a narrow hallway in the shop in a golf cart. Yeah, that's a great scene. But like Also, at that point, how much faster is the golf cart? What do you mean?
You mean the real one that Ryan Day with the lady crashed? Yeah.
I feel like if they they can get around without that. Get around no, my point is, if he loses against Michigan, They're going to intentionally just try to put him in a golf cart and run him into a wall. That's it. Oh, yeah, he he won't I would say For a coach who somehow won a national championship, he might be the most hated coach in the last 10, 15 years. Oh my God.
You're talking about what, amongst his own student and body? What are you talking about? Maybe because he can't beat Michigan. Aw man, come on, Bachelor They don't play out there about that. I have.
Have I been to both campuses? No, I haven't. I've been to Ohio State. and they were showing me every every imaginable place on the campus. where they have just crossed out M's.
Like, there's a sign, there's a street sign. They cross out the M. You know, you walk into a fancy new athletic building. Botch, let me tell you something. They have better athletic facilities at Ohio State.
than than some NFL teams and facilities that I've been to. It's all the donors. Yeah.
It's not surprising how these guys get to the NFL and they somehow turn a pumpkin. Yeah, these the the machines, the the open gym, the public gym that's open to the students. I walked into that gym and it's like I walked into a spaceship. You know, I mean, they will put a planet fitness in a warehouse and they'll make it two floors and go, ah, it's a big gym. And the Ohio State University, like the Athletics Center, that's open to the public.
I'm like, damn it, you gonna fit.
Okay. two thousand people in here at one time, it takes up like a whole block and Multiple floors. I'm like, what is anybody going to class or just people out here just exercising? I don't know. Bacha, I think I missed Greg Odin.
I think he was in he was doing something at that time. Oh, is it like a book? He just walks around. He just walks like nothing. Is he like a mentor there?
Like he kind of does like speeches or something? I don't know. I I hope he's okay. He seems like a very nice guy, you know. Could you imagine being Greg Odin and every time you walk outside in Ohio in Columbus?
Do you think people just don't even care anymore, right? I would argue that half of the body of the students don't even know who he is. Oh, don't say that. Just because they're so young. Like, no.
You think Greg Odin walks down the block in Columbus and people on campus don't know who he is. It's a big campus. They know that. He's seven feet tall. He's 7'1.
I think you would see him and be like, hey, that's a really tall. Person. He probably played basketball by the way. No, that's Greg Oden. That's the guy with the busted knees.
Yeah, but I I would think the new generation of college students Like, if they don't like sports, they're not going to know who Greg Odin is. No, they do. Like, come on now. If you got to think about Ohio State, right? Is there any other basketball player that comes to mind over the past couple of years that just makes you go, oh my God?
D Lo? Besides D-Lo, not really many. Yeah, exactly. And then, what is he? They don't even let him.
Does he start for the Dallas Mavericks? No, he can't play defense.
So he very rarely gets. A ton of minutes. Yeah, and they need somebody to go out there and play. You would think that, you know, Jason Kidd hates his guts.
So, who are these guys? Yeah, Evan Turner retired, Jared Sullinger, he was long gone. Oh, Mike Conley's still playing. Oh, my God. Wow.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's not a lot, man. Yeah, we got Brian Sensorba. Where is he on the uh the jazz, right? A Bryce Sensorbite, yeah, I think he's on the jazz. Yeah.
Yeah.
So if you think about basketball, Huh. You think Greg Odin. You think about The Ohio State. A university.
So, congratulations to them. We got to see what they do and what Ryan Day does against Michigan. We got to wait to see on that.
So, here we go. College Football Playoff rankings again, 1 to 12. The Ohio State at 1, Indiana at 2, Texas AM at 3. The Georgia Bulldogs at 4. Texas Tech at 5.
The Ducks sit at 6. Ole Miss at 7. Oklahoma at 8. Notre Dame at 9. Alabama at 10.
And Miami is a 12. A two-lane.
Now they are slotted at number 24 overall, but because they are not a member of the uh the power four. they get slotted in into the college football playoff here as the outsider, they would get into that twelfth spot.
So there you have it. There is your college football playoff. And the majority of the teams that I just mentioned, half of them, like any playoff, You already know half the damn teams that just ain't got no chance to win. Forget a Cinderella. It is a It is highly Highly.
unlikely. 888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4ISN. It sucks, but let me tell you, there's one team. There there's there's no conversation about uh Them college football playoff, anything.
It's the Colorado Buffalo. They got to be the most. Famous team with the most famous coach, and they are going.
nowhere they're three and eight. They're already thinking about the future. I had a conversation with someone today about whether or not Deion Sanders is going to stick around. For another year. He's looking at one of his quarterbacks.
He's running around with three of them this year. And Julian Lewis, he already decided to not play him in the final game so he could still have eligibility for all four seasons. He only played four games. And so Deion Sanders, he's thinking about the future. A matter of fact, Deion Sanders says, listen to me.
I'm the guy. I'm going to fix this for next year. No, I reflect every week. Yeah.
You gotta understand, man, I don't...
Okay. I don't break glass in case of emergency. I know how to get it right. I'll get it right. We were we were headed in the right direction and and some things happened and we took a Quick left instead of staying right.
But I know how to get it right, and I will. I will. We'll be sitting here. at a point in time last year and I was I told you I w I will I was. And we got it.
Got some key pieces. That's there. That you can work with. And I'm happy with that.
Sometimes you just need to recalibrate, you need to reset, you need just to get a redo. It's like kids when they're playing video games. When it's not going right, they hit reset. We need to reset it right now. Yeah, I don't know if he's gonna be the guy sticking around to reset.
I guess he's gonna show up next year, collect a check. And then I guess he's eventually gonna move on, or maybe they're gonna wanna move on. And from him. And we all knew it was going to be a hell of an adjustment with his son. In the NFL and Travis Hunter, also in the NFL.
Unfortunately, he's hurt. out for the season with the Jacksonville Jaguars. But um Yeah, Dion is He ain't nowhere near no college football playoff, but he's always in. The News Always. It's the J.R.

We've been wrapping up week 12 of the NFL season. We don't have to wait too long. We got three more games on Thanksgiving, and we got. Week number thirteen, the NFL season continues on. We got some teams that are Well, they're rolling in the right direction.
We've got teams that are rolling in the wrong direction. To talk about the good, the bad, the ugly, and everything in between. Joining us right now is someone who talks and covers all things NFL. You can catch her as a host on the Sumer Sports Show. Welcome back, Lindsay Rhodes.
Lindsay, how are you? Hey, I'm doing great. How are you? I'm very well. I mean, we got the conclusion of this week's twelve.
We got the Dallas Cowboys. People are asking me about Playoffs. The Philadelphia Eagles are falling apart. We got Joe Burrow back for a team that's not going to the playoffs. We got Aaron Rodgers returning with a busted-up wrist and soon to be playing against the Bills.
The Chiefs stay alive, the Ravens on a winning streak. What has captured your attention the most now that we got week twelve out of the way? The Rams. I think that this past week's game for the Rams Um Really solidified the way that I feel about them as maybe the best team in the NFL. Right now, I would probably have them as my Super Bowl favorite.
coming out of a really tough NFC. I think that they looked phenomenal against Tampa Bay in prime time. and really took the opportunity to make a statement that I think that they've been building up to in the last few weeks. in just so many ways, top to bottom, they strike me as a team that's going to be a really, really tough outcome playing time playoff time. I mean we heard so much about Matthew Stafford's back prior to the season.
I mean, outside of injury, can we just start inscripting his name on the MVP award? Inscribing, can we do that? Yeah.
Let's see, MVP, MVP. I mean, there are other people in that mix, I think. I mean, Drake May is going to be in that conversation too, and there's certainly a statistical argument to make for him. Um let's see. Sam Darnold is In the mix, though, probably has taken a step back in that conversation.
Throw out some other names here for me. Who else is going to be in this conversation? People say Jonathan Taylor, but I don't see a running back in. He'd have to have a historical season. Yeah, and he is having a historically good season.
The problem with Jonathan Taylor is that there are other running backs this year who are having. Seasons that are in the same ballpark as him. Like our summer score metric has him as actually, he dipped to third in our running back scores for the season. We've got CMC number one, and then we have Jameer Gibbs actually took over the two-spot this week. We're big on like tiering running backs, which I think is actually more directionally accurate to describing what we're seeing.
Like you really have to split hairs to really decide, is it CMC, is it Jonathan Taylor, is it Jameer Gibbs in terms of who's the best running back this season? And I think some of the ways that you would split those hairs, because there's an argument to be made for all of them, I think, that are different. But I think that's also the argument why I wouldn't go for Jonathan Taylor, because there are arguments to be made for other people. The quarterback position is just so much more important in terms of the success of the team, and there are so many different ways that we could discuss this as opposed to the running back. I think that there's No doubt that Jonathan Taylor has brought so much that's valuable to the table for the cult, but to the only reason that we're having that.
Even discussion about a running back or JSN, which is actually who I would put above all of those running backs in this type of a conversation if we're going to go away from the quarterback. But the only reason that those guys are even in the conversation this year is because the main stars of the NFL that are the quarterbacks that always catch our eye, they kind of are not in the conversation this year. And so it feels like it's opened up a window. But I do think that you're right. I think Matthew Stafford is having a fascinatingly high-level game or season for somebody who is his age.
With all of the different question marks that we had attached to him coming into the season, we all know the MVP is at least in part a narrative award. And it also is a requirement that the team has a lot of success. And so I do think that he checks a lot of those boxes right now. Yeah, Matthew Stafford is looking good. It's hard out here for the running backs.
You know, having said what you just mentioned and explained about Jonathan Taylor, we do have a team, his team, the Indianapolis Scots, they got a record of eight and three. They have Daniel Jones there. And we've seen the elevation. You mentioned Drake May on the other side in the AFC East with the New England Patriots. Are they more paper tigers?
Or do you think they're legitimate contenders knowing that some of the traditional teams that we're used to seeing in these spots, the Chiefs, the Ravens and the Bills, that they I don't want to say struggling, but they're not where they typically are perched at the top? No, 100% they're not. It's a really weird year. And I think it's leading to some people think that the product is down because the traditionally dominant teams are not that right now. I think you could still make a strong argument for Kansas City coming out of the AFC, frankly, but they're sitting in the ten hole at the moment with a six and five record.
I'm not giving up hope that they're going to be the team at the end that comes out of the AFC for a number of different reasons. I think there actually is A pretty good football team that has maybe had some lucky bounces that have bounced in their direction in years past. They are not bouncing their way. That's kind of. What happens mathematically speaking, where when luck is involved, it kind of there's a regression to the mean, but they've still outscored their opponents by 76 points on the season.
That is. I'm eyeballing the numbers here. I want to say the sixth best. in the NFL. The Colts are plus one hundred twelve.
That's the highest number in the AFC. Rams are plus one hundred twenty seven. That's the highest in the NFL. But so I think that the Colts are an interesting story because I think that they have been really balanced. and very efficient.
And none of that is sexy, right? Like, so it's harder for us to wrap our brains through it. Plus, there's also been a regression in the last few weeks. I think that there's certainly it's worth asking: has the league kind of figured out what they're doing that's led to their early season success? Like, Daniel Jones had a 30% success rate on plays where there was no play action against the Chiefs, right?
They struggled a little bit more on their first-down runs, which they were having a ton of success on in the first half of the year, yards before contact was way down.
So, that's something that we'll have to monitor for the next couple of weeks to see if that's a pattern. Um but I do think it's It's interesting because all of us kind of want to I look to look at a team and say, okay, what's their major weakness or what is their major strength? Like when stacked up against. anyone. What is the thing that they can turn to where I go, that is so good, that thing that they do?
And I think that for the Colts, and this is the thing that pushes people towards Jonathan Taylor, you'd say, well, their ability to run the game is is uh run the ball has been really, really strong. Um I would argue that if there is a component of the Daniel Jones and the play action team that does come back down to earth, then that will take that away to a degree. But like the Seahawks, I think, have been a fascinating team this year because the defense is. As strong as any defense in the NFL. I mean, I'll put them in that conversation.
But what they've done on offense has been fascinating to me because, in a lot of ways, they sort of flipped that offense this offseason. And a lot of people thought they were going to be not good, like had very, very low expectations for them. uh partially because of the loss of dk and then just the difference in quarterback and then saying okay jsn who we've seen only as a slot receiver to this point can he carry this offense out of the slot well now we're seeing him not operate only out of the slot and the answer to can he carry this offense has been a resounding yes i mean he is having you talk about a historic season jsn is having a historic season that is my headline here um from a numbers standpoint his 37% target share is 4% higher than the closest wide receiver this year. And it's the highest target share we've seen a wide receiver have in the last four years by a whole three points. In addition to that, When everyone knows he's getting the ball because he's getting it at an insanely high rate, and we're going into week 13, that number is not slowing down.
His yards per route run is a full yard more than the wide receiver two, who is also having a historic season, and that's Puka Nakua. We're looking at a 4.4 yards per route run number for JSN. That means every time he runs a route, not gets the ball, not even is targeted, every time he runs a route, on average, he's putting four and a half yards. On the board. Like that is an insane number.
The number three wide receiver in the NFL. That number is at 264. That is Two yards less. And then it gets clustered. Like that's where the good wide receivers live is in that That mid to six range.
What Puka's doing is special. What JSN is doing is just mind-blowing. The way that he's established how dominant he is and how much he belongs in that top tier of wide receiver conversations this year, it's been the JSN year. I would vote for him for Offensive Player of the Year over Jonathan Taylor if that were to happen right now. And that is the non-quarterback name that I would move into the MVP conversation.
Okay. Well, let's see if Sam Donald can throw him the ball and not the opposition when we get to the postseason. We got to wait on that one, Lindsay, huh? I will say this about Sam Darnold because that game against the Rams was rough, right? But the Rams defense did some really fascinating things in that game to make life very, very hard for Sam Darnold.
Like what they were doing with disguising the middle of the field, we found some numbers that suggested Um when they went open to close. that he ended up holding the ball for a full like 3.1 seconds. This season there's been a pattern with that.
So, um, and normally this season he has held the ball for like his time to throw is at like 267.
So my point there is to say that I think that that coaching staff, and that's one of the things I was alluding to out of the gate when I said the Rams are, I think, the most interesting team and story that's happening in the NFL right now. Like defensively, the kinds of things we talk about Sean McVay all the time. We talk about Les Need and how smart he is from a front office standpoint, the moves that he makes in the draft picks and all that stuff. The stuff they're doing on defense this year. And their ability to confuse Sam Darnold in that particular instance, I think that they get a lot of credit for the things that we saw.
In that game, that were not particularly good looking by Sam Darnold.
So I'm not sure that that's something that every defense in the league is going to be able to do to him. And Lindsey Rhodes is joining us from the Sumer Sports Show. We got a full slate on Thanksgiving. We of course, we got the Dallas Cowboys, we got the Lions. We'll see Joe Burrow back in action.
What are you really looking forward to this Thursday? I mean, there are a lot of good games this Thursday. I think that that's notable. And I'm not really surprised that the NFL had put together a good slate for their Thanksgiving slate. But I mean, Packers Lions is obviously fascinating for a number of different reasons and an important game.
The Cowboys are a team that I'm less interested in seeing in terms of like the playoff picture. I don't think that moves the needle for me, but I do think it's an important game for the Chiefs. Really interested to see Joe Burrow back, to be honest, because I know we talk about the three and eight and all that kind of stuff, but you've got. The Ravens sitting atop that division with a banged-up Lamar Jackson and a defense that has not played up to their historic standards. And um I mean you've got the Bengals there at at three and eight.
I mean I Kind of Are they mathematically out? I mean, they would have to win every single game for the rest of the season in order to have a winning record. But I'm just saying and and I will also concede that the Bengals defense has been like the worst in the NFL in many ways. And so he's not going to write that wrong. He will help though, because as you know, like when an offense can't stay on the field and they go three and out, it makes things harder on the defense.
And so I think he will actually help. the the caliber of play on the defensive side of the ball just by by maintaining the ball on offense and putting together some longer drives. But I think things are going to look very different for the Bengals. And I am. If Lamar Jackson is banged up and the Ravens defense is not particularly scary, and I am not particularly a believer in Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers offense.
This year they're both at 6 and 5.
So I'm just saying. I think that the Bengals with Joe Burrow under center have a chance to make things very interesting down the stretch.
Okay. Well, let me ask you this. In finality, we know the NFL, you want to talk about a good slate of games. They said, hey, we got Amazon paying us money. You've got to get a Black Friday game.
We get the Chicago Bears and we get the Eagles. We know the Eagles are going to try to bounce back from giving up that 21-0 lead against the Cowboys. Do you still believe that the Eagles can turn this around and maybe get back to the Super Bowl? I think that, yes. Yes.
The short answer is yes. I think that the Eagles do this every year. I mean, this this feels mo that is the most perplexing thing to me, is that we are perplexed on a regular basis by the Eagles' offense in particular. That it seems every year we have a conversation where we go, Why isn't A.J. Brown happy?
Why can't they get the ball to A.J. Brown? And then, oh, boom, last year there they are in the Super Bowl. I feel like the pieces are almost all the same. And we are surprised to a degree.
In many of the same ways that we have been surprised before, I feel like we've been there and we've done that. And they don't always turn it on to the degree where they're winning Super Bowls. But I just I think the reasons that we're so confused about why they have Not lived up to our expectations this year on offense and why AJ Brown is not as much of a factor in the offense as we expect him to be. I think that. These are all stories that we've gone through before.
So I I feel similarly to the way I feel about that is kind of similar to the like handwringing over the chiefs. Right early in the season, in particular, like, oh, they're done. The dynasty is done. No, the dynasty is not done. The diet it's just it's just not.
And these are teams that are so experienced in the playoff. and have so many veteran players that have been there and done that. that I think that I mean if if you're in the dance I think you would be remiss to to uh look past either of those two teams. All right. Well, this is why they go out there and play the games, and it's a good thing to know that we have so much parody in the league this season.
Lindsay, we appreciate the time. Please fill everybody in as to where they can follow you, find you as well as listen to the Sumer Sport Show. Yeah, so we have a Sumer Sports Show podcast. We already put it out this week because of the holiday.
So it's a day earlier than normal. We talked to Luke McCown, and it was kind of our attempt to tackle Some of the things that are not being discussed with the Sugar Sanders situation right now, because everybody kind of wants to just yell at each other about that situation, but there are some interesting layers. to what it's like to be a backup. And the ways that backups are prepared in terms of the amount of reps that they get and the amount of attention that they get in the offense. And then, all of a sudden, if you get turned to what's that like, we talked to Luke McCown this week and tried to kind of talk through some of that stuff.
We went through all of the data, by the way. Since 2014, quarterbacks drafted on day three or later, undrafted. There are two examples: two, Dak Prescott and Brock Purdy, who have gone on to become franchise quarterbacks. And there are so many reasons for that. It doesn't mean that Shadore Sanders cannot.
But there are a lot of things stacked against him, and you can go listen to the Sumer Sports show and hear what some of those things are. And that's available wherever you get your podcast. Awesome.
Well, thank you so much, Lindsay. We appreciate you, your time, and you enjoy your holiday, okay? Enjoy the football, too. Thank you so much, U2JR. Happy Thanksgiving.
Absolutely. Thank you. Happy Thanksgiving. That's Lindsey Rhodes. There's a lot going on in the NFL.

It is the JR Sport Brief Show here with you, coast to coast. On the Infinity Sports Network. Thank you so much to Lindsey Rhodes for joining us from the Sumer Sports Show, Breaking Down All Things. NFL football. Yeah, the championship is wide open.
Like there's there's no favorite. Uh you can look at the Rams right now. But that's right now. The Rams are in the mix. I think the Eagles are still in the mix.
I don't trust the younger teams. When I say younger teams, I'm referring to the New England Patriots. Certainly don't trust. Daniel Jones and the Colts. I don't believe in a team like the Seahawks.
I would take the Chiefs over any of those squads. Yeah, if you missed the conversation with Lindsay, go ahead and hit rewind. On the free Odyssey app. You know, and speaking of championships, I know we just crowned. The Los Angeles Dodgers as champs.
I mean, what the hell else is there? for them to go out and win. But for anyone interested, We're already getting rosters together. For the World Baseball Classic. Yeah, the last time we saw Major League Baseball hold the classic.
Uh well Japan won, they beat the United States of America. And Shohei Otani was out there striking out his former teammate and Mike Trout, and then Japan won.
So, I mean, what is there? For sure, Hiltoni. Bunch, is there anything left for him to win? Uh Another An Olympic gold medal, maybe? Oh my god.
Maybe that. They got, what, they, baseball? How's he going to win that? When he when he's done with the MLB maybe. Oh man.
The 42-year-old Watani. He ain't got no baseball. You think one day they're going to put baseball in the Olympics? They should, but the World Baseball Classic is good enough for now. It's not enough teams, not enough countries, I should say.
That are worth a damn that would want to participate. I mean, once you get outside of the Americas and the Far East, it's like, eh, who cares? I mean, is England gonna put together A baseball team? No. You know, it's kind of tough.
But hey, how about this? and Shohei Otani has told everybody. He is going to be a part. of Japan's twenty twenty six World Baseball Classic roster. Just so he can go out there and win something else.
Like, Shohei Otani hasn't gone out and won enough. And it's kind of crazy. I told you about the World Series that he won. And in the World Series 81 again last year. And now he's got four MVP awards, and now I guess he wants to just win another.
Award where Japan beats America. Listen to this when he struck out Mike Trout a couple years ago. This is from MLB Network. We've reached the limit. Three and two, two outs, top nine, US down a run.
Otani set. Drought ready. The 3-2 pitch. Trout swings and misses and Japan wins the 2023 WPC. Gotta hear that again in 2026.
I don't even know who else is going to be on the team, but I mean, damn. They just I mean they just won the World Series.
So I think about half not half his teammates. But if I gotta think about guys like Yamamoto, like Are they going to be out there pitching? Is Shohei gonna pitch? We know he's gonna hit. Like, that gets tricky, especially if you're a team, you just tax some of your guys to win a championship.
And now you're gonna go out there and and just pitch I don't know. I don't want to call it spring training. And botch, is this equivalent to spring training? It's more intense. It's a simulated starts, I would say.
It's like a. It's because it's not spring training because spring training is like two or three innings, and you don't really care because there's like three people in the crowd. That's why I said it's intense. Yeah, it's it's like a it's a it's like spring training in the middle of the year or like a rehab start. If you are it's in March if you're a Dodgers fan.
Do you want to see Yamamoto or or you know Ot Otani or Sasaki. Do you want to see any of those guys on the mound? I personally Have flashbacks to when Edmund Diaz tore his meniscus his knee celebrating.
So it was just. Yeah, it's up to the team itself. I think if you're looking at Otani and/or Yamamoto, who you're paying. It combined over one billion dollars. Stay home.
Yeah, stay home. You already won it already. What's the real goal in winning? And again, but they're not gonna. Yeah, they're not gonna say.
If Otani comes to you and says, hey, I wanna play in this. You kind of are under Otani's will, so you just got to let him play. And I think if Otani says he wants to play in it, I would assume a lot of the other Japanese players are going to say, I want to be a part of it as well.
Now, we do have a Team USA roster. We know some of the dudes. Aaron Judge is going to be the team captain. Captain America. Yeah.
Whoop-de-doo. Paul Skeens is going to pitch, which is great. Corbin Cowell is going to be out there, which is nice. Diamondback, Pete Crow Armstrong. We got Cal Raleigh, Bobby Wood Jr.
You know, I would think That team USA will have better bats. But Bacha, how the hell did we lose the last time?
Well, the last time we lost, we had the starting pitching of Adam Wainwright, Meryl Kelly. Oh boy. Uh there's somebody else I'm forgetting who's not great. And he came in and was like, okay. Yeah, but if we put schemes out there every game, like we should win with the bats.
Yeah, you should. But then you run into a guy like Himanaga, Yamamoto, Sasaki. Yeah, there's a lot of guys there. Yeah, but their offense, who got the best bats? I mean, they're going to pull in players from Japan.
Everybody ain't going to be from the majors. Yeah, no, but Murakami's gonna be there. You got Kim, you're gonna have probably Tommy Edmund. Oh boy. So basically, the American pitchers will get lit up by guys that they never faced before.
Basically. Yeah.
Basically that. Or the American pitchers don't want to participate because they're either injured too much or they're just they don't see the goal. Yeah, put skeins out there every game. You know, I gotta be honest. I'm I'm I gotta wait until the end.
Like the World Baseball Classic still has not captured and garnered my full attention. Are you watching this from beginning to end? I'll watch the American games, and then if it's on at a random time, because like there's different locations of the games, I'll throw on like Dominican Republic, DR vs. PR. That that's a good game.
I am yeah, 'cause all the excitement and all the fun. I am watching as much of the World Baseball Classic as I am the Little League World Series.
Okay? Am I jerked for that? Am I a jerk? A little bit. Yeah, yeah, I'm a jerk.
I know, but I just, um I'm like, hey, let me know when the real season starts, okay? Like, we don't got the best of the best because baseball is a tricky thing. It's not like Team USA basketball, which now has legitimate competition. I don't know. Maybe it's because it's still so young.
I I can't get into it. Not all the way. I did watch that game, and I'm just like, damn, he's just struck out his old teammate. And. He just keeps on winning.
What is it?
Well, I was going to say, name something that Otani has lost recently in. What was it, $17 million? And I would say his old interpreter. Yeah.
Well, that guy's in prison. Yeah, he lost the interpreter, and he lost the money because of both.
So. What a world. What a world. The J.R. Sport Brief Show here with you, Coaster.
Is there any music there? Yeah, of course it is. Kind of low. There we go. All right, we'll be back.
We got one more hour before they tell me to shut up and leave for a couple of days. You locked in. It's the JR Sport Reshow, the Infinity Sports Network. Listen up, football fans. You won't want to miss this.
