It is. Yeah. The JR Sport Brief Show. On the infinity. Sports.
Network. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you so much to everybody tuned in on this Friday, october third. In the year 2025, I'll be hanging out with you. For the next four hours.
This is when the show gets started. 6 p.m. Eastern. Three Pacific. I'm in Atlanta.
Thank you to our producer in New York City, Ryan Botcher. We got a lot to discuss, of course we do, like we do every single weekday. All right, we had a good Thursday night football matchup. San Francisco 49ers stay on top over the rims. When I walked out of here, the niners were whooping that ass.
Okay? Speaking of people getting whooped, Lamar Jackson, that hamstring, is keeping him out Sunday. against the Texans. And don't expect to see Lamar. You won't see him out there.
That sucks for them. I think they're done for the year. Jaden Daniels. It's confirmed. He's going to play against the Chargers.
Tyreek Hill, he decided to show up and I guess wave and talk and give the dolphins a pep talk. I don't think it matters, but. There you have it. The New York Yankees, they won. When we walked out of the studio yesterday, the Boston Red Sox are done.
Yankees are at the Blue Jays tomorrow. Damn it, we got the whole entire. Division around. Set up for tomorrow. The New York Mets, they didn't make the postseason.
So they fired everybody. And they fired everybody on the management team except for. The manager, okay, of course, we'll Yeah. All the games this Sunday. The games tomorrow in baseball.
Shoutouts to my main man, Nick Hamilton from Sirius. He's going to come through and have a chat with us about the Dodgers.
Next hour That'll be fun. We got Ron Blum joining us as well to talk all things baseball. Lane Kiffin is complaining. What else is new? Complaining about NIL.
Kathy Engelbert, she's going to speak in an hour. That's the WNBA commissioner who's just been ripped. To shreds by everybody. I wonder how she's going to respond. That'll be fun.
And we got a lot to get into. If you want to be a part of the show, You can. Here's the phone number. Are you ready? eight eight eight seven ten four I S N.
You can find me on the internet. I exist everywhere. JR Sport Brief. What a day, what a day What a day, what a day What? Uh day.
We we got a lot to get into. It's W N B A?
Okay, fine. There's just a lot of drama there. ahead of the lockout, I think is going to happen. NFL football, college football tomorrow. We don't have all these.
Super exciting games. If you want to watch Clemson, you know, go out and beat Bill Bellishak, knock yourself out. I'll probably pop in here and there. Got baseball tomorrow. It's going to be a good weekend.
Hey, Bacha, how are you? You ready for all the sports this weekend? I think I'm so ready for it. I'm doing good. And I think I'm just gonna sit down and just.
be a couch potato and watch everything this weekend.
Well make sure that every now and then you Get up and stretch is good for the legs, good for the circulation, good for the body. I don't think the I don't know if I stand for a minute. It'll help. for like eight hours. It it it can.
It can. It is. If you want to sit down for eight hours straight, you you bring in a bucket with you to the couch, what are you doing? Just gonna sleep. You know.
Okay. If you have to go, just sleep.
Well, all right. I know.
Okay, advice from Bacha. Just uh sleep.
Well, did you get a chance to see the conclusion of the Forty Niners and the Rams last night? I did not. I was on the train. Damn. And I got out of it and I checked the ESPN app.
And I was like, oh wow, it ended and it was actually a lot closer than I thought it'd be.
Well, the Rams need to be happy that they even got into an overtime period. You think about the missed field goals, the missed extra points, everything that got them there. You think about goal line fumbles and losing the ball and turnovers. The fact that they were able to even tie the game up to go into overtime is a blessing for them. But then they still lost.
The 49ers, despite not having Brock Purdy, They pulled it out. You got Mac Jones out here, his knee hurts. He's limping off the field. He's throwing up on the sidelines. And he was out there.
Okay, this man threw two touchdowns. three hundred and forty two yards. Christian McCaffrey doing his damn job, 57 yards rushing. Eighty two yards receiving. They held on to winning overtime, and then they had this big play.
After they kicked the field goal, Pinero went out there and did it. They stopped The Rams on fourth and one to pretty much conclude and end The game. Let's take a listen to this. This is a big call. discourtesy of 49ers radio network.
Fourth down and one for the Rams. Niners lead by three. A chance to win it with a stop. Here in overtime. Stafford gets under center at the 11-yard line.
He takes it, he turns, he gives it to Kyron Williams. He gets back. I think he's short, Tim. I think he's short. And the 49ers stored the field.
It is all The 49ers have won it in overtime here in LA. Yeah, Mac Jones went out there last night and he lit it up. We know it wasn't just Brock Purdy who's been out due to injury. You think about their. Top wide receivers Ricky Pearsall.
Expected to shoulder the load this year. He was out. Jawan Jennings has been dealing with injuries. Training camp. He was out.
Kendrick Bourne. Yeah, that's not a name you hear all the time. He is a forty niner. Probably at his best seasons playing for the New England Patriots, a Kendrick Bourne. 10 catches for 142 yards.
Last night. They were out there clicking on all cylinders. They're pretty amazing. And next up, we don't know if Brock Purdy will be back. But they'll be able to take on on Tampa Bay, and we know they're missing.
Well, their best wide receiver, even though he's older, and Mike Evans.
So, one step at a time. Matt Jones. We don't know how long he's here for Purdy, We don't know when it's going to be time for him to take a seat and sit down. But he has filled in. admirably.
Okay, the niners are four and one. Mac Jones on the season. Nine hundred and five yards. Six touchdowns.
So one Interception. Oh, yeah, he's looking good. We'll talk more about him. Later in the show, especially as it relates to Purdy, because I actually saw an article. That said, You know, maybe Mac Jones should be the start of the rest of the way, but we'll get there.
Right now, let's just show him love. His own coach. His coach loves him. Listen to Kyle Shanahan. I was real pressed.
He played his ass off, man. It was unbelievable in the first half. Got banged up a little bit there in the second half and battled through it and protected the ball going against that defense and throwing the ball that many times and not having to turn over and protecting like he did, I can't say enough good things about Mac. Oh, it's a it's a love affair, right? He loves him.
You wanna know you wanna know who else loves him?
Well, Trent Williams. Love said. You have the tackle that punches people in the face. gets ejected Steps on people.
Well, he got love for a guy. He got love for his quarterback. Man, tough as nails, just a I um I mean, just an Apex competitor, man, he just you know, he's one of those guys where You know, it's not it's not a a surprise why people drafting them where they drafting them, why everybody's so high on 'em, yes. Such a high ceiling. Um Just a really, really cool guy to be around as well.
I've watched Mac over the years just kinda as a spectator.
So I've seen the swag he possessed, you know, I seen the way he, you know, talks, the way he answers the interviews. He's j he very lighthearted guy, he keeps the mood light, but you know, he he's a fierce competitor. Yeah, I'm well. Bill Belichick drafted him. And then he liked 'em.
Until he didn't and then he benched them. This is a love affair, I guess, for everybody except for Bill Belichick, who's in North Carolina, suffering right now. Damn, everybody loves this guy. I told you, Kendrick Bourne. Mr.
142 yards receiving. He played with this man. Mac Jones when they were both in New England. Even Kendrick Bourne had a lot of praise. It's a first-round pick.
He's a first-round pick. Everything falls on him. He's young. He has to figure it out. And that's tough for anybody.
So, I mean, I don't know what that feels like. I undrafted guy, but you just see it being a fan of the game. It's tough. And so, um, That stuff is just different. Every situation is different.
Coaching is different. I think now, you know, he fits the system. The system is important for a lot of players and it shows in this game.
So, shout out to Kyle, man, John, and them. They're doing a good job of getting people prepared. Even for myself, I had the opportunity because Ricky's down and Jawan's down. And they got me prepared, and the same thing with Mac. Of course, everybody has the kisses behind it.
They're still in the division, man. They got the lead right now. The forty nine is a four and one. The Rams fall to three and two. Matthew Stafford helped Connor lead him back from half time.
three hundred eighty nine yards passing. Three touchdowns. zero interceptions. Unfortunately, it was some of the smaller mistakes that pretty much doomed. The Rams.
Turnovers, fumbles. Mist kicks. It was bad. for this squad. They should have won, could have won, coulda, woulda, shoulda.
It doesn't matter. The forty nine has come out victorious. And even after some of the fumbles high, Blake Quarrell. Sean McVay and Miss Kex Sean McVay's like, you know what? At the end of the game, We were in it.
I blame My South. Listen to this. A lot of football left, but uh, I'm pretty sick right now. I'm sick of the spot that I put our group in to end the game, but um, hey, the These are the tough beats that you got to be able to learn from and move forward, and that's what we're going to do. Any thought of kicking the field goal there?
No. In hindsight, I wish I would have, but no, we came in here to try to win the football game. It didn't go down for us, Gary. That wasn't even a thought, but the play selection was very poor. I'm sick right now because I put our players in a situation.
spot and uh I got to live with that. Yeah, well, how do his players feel that he didn't go for a field goal and decided to go for it? Devontae Adams, wide receiver. is what he had to say. I'm not going to comment on whether or not I'm a fan of it.
If it works, then I'm a fan of it. If it doesn't, then I'm not, obviously. I mean, that's typically how it goes. But I mean you gotta you you get It's not my job to call plays as his job. You know, I'm sure he's beating himself up over it just because it didn't work, but like again, if we find a way to get the first down And it's a different conversation.
And he did. Devontae Adams, he did go out there and do his job. 88 yards receiving, Puka Nakua. eighty five yards. in a touchdown.
Kyron Williams, he had two receiving touchdowns, as the running back, in addition to sixty five yards on the ground.
Next up for the Los Angeles Rams. They take their three and two record. It's a Baltimore. Yeah. They take on a Ravens.
It'll be the middle of October at that point.
Well, almost there, October 12th. Let's see if Lamar Jackson is going to be available. I have a feeling if he is not, the Rams are going to go into Baltimore. And they gotta light him up. I think Mr.
Stafford is going to have a field day. You know, how things bear out in the NFC West the rest of the way is going to be very, very Interesting. It's actually going to be fun. I expect, and I know. But I exp I'm being a jerk.
That's why I said I know. proceeding getting ahead of myself here. I expect Sam Darnold to eventually just Fall flat on his face. I know he looked good last year. in Minnesota with the Vikings, that that'll probably be the best season.
That he ever has. I am not trusting him the entire way. Of the Seahawks right now, I have a record of 3-1. The Seattle Seahawks are staring at Of the Buccaneers. I think the Buccaneers may actually fall due to some of their injuries.
Baker Mayfeld. They've had too many games at the end where they've had to come from behind. I think the injuries will catch up. to the Bucks. The NFC West is shaping up to be very, very competitive, as it typically is.
Now, the Arizona Cardinals 2-2. Throw them out the window. Don't count on them. For a damn thing. But I think when all the chips fall and the season is over, I still believe the Los Angeles Rams will win The NFC West.
We got to see what happens with these San Francisco 49ers. Matt Jones is playing well. Bri Purdy is dealing with the tow. This young defense has certainly stepped up at the early portion of the season. In Seattle, I don't trust Sam Darnold.
I still think we're going to come down to San Francisco and the Rams. I'm taking the Rams to still win the NFC West. and maybe these liners can get in. As a wild card, I think they'll battle it out with Seattle for one of the next wild card spots. We'll see how things shake out.
But a good game last night. I left the studio. Got something to eat. sat and watched it. Fell asleep for five minutes.
Woke up. It saw The Rams get stuffed. And I saw the game end and I said, Whoa. This game has been going on. Forever.
Yeah, that was a good one last night. Thank you, Amazon, for getting the rights to Thursday Night Football. Because of the Thursday night football games we had on the NFL network Those games They used to suck. Ye're we got some good football gettin' us all set an' ready. This up Coming weekend.
And yeah, you know what? We're going to talk about. More of the games in a little while. We'll go through some of these injuries. We got some other players like Lamar Jackson.
officially out as the The Ravens get ready to take on the Texans.
So we got a lot to discuss. Man, we got a lot to get into here. or for the rest of the show. I told you, we're going to be joined next hour. This will be a lot of fun.
By Nick Hamilton. It's SiriusXM, Nightcast Media. You can. Catch him on Sirius. We're going to have a conversation about the Dodgers as they get ready to take on the Phillies.
Later on in the show, we'll have a conversation with Ron Blum. They're talking about all the matchups in Major League Baseball, but when we come back on the other side of the break, Let's talk about the other game that completed last night. I was like, oh damn, this is good. The New York Yankees found a guy And maybe this guy can help take them to a World Series. If he keeps pitching like he did last night, Cam Schlittler is gonna do some damage.
And the Bronx. We'll talk about the Yankees knocking off the Red Sox, advancing to take on the Jays. Yeah, we had elimination games yesterday. We got the divisional round starting tomorrow. The JR Sport Brief Show just got started.
If you want to call, 888-710-4ISN is the number. That's 888-710-4ISN. Let's talk some baseball results on the other side of the break. and let's see who got fired today. from the other.

Seven cent. 4ISN. Yeah, we had a good Thursday night football game and matchup yesterday. We just talked about the 49ers coming out on top. of the Rams.
Well We know to morrow. we have the start of the divisional round, of the Major League Baseball playoffs. Thank God I mean, with what we saw yesterday, We had three eliminations. Goodbye to Cleveland. Detroit moves on.
Goodbye to San Diego. Chicago moves on. And then late last night when we were gone, didn't get a chance to talk about this one. The Yankees held on to beat Boston. Four.
To nothing. It looks like the Yankees have found themselves their next. Postseason gem. Maybe he can continue to be this way. for the New York Yankees.
Cam Schlittler. Yeah, you heard me correctly. He went out there and pitched eight innings. Didn't walk anybody. and struck out twelve.
Red Sox.
Okay, it's one thing to do that. As a matter of fact, I don't care if you do that against the, I don't know, Florida Marlins. To do that in the postseason. in an elimination game. When you've only had 14 career starts, against the team that you grew up rooting for?
That's a Real big deal. And so tomorrow. The New York Yankees will take on the Blue Jays in a divisional round. The Chicago Cubs will take on Milwaukee. I know a lot of people in San Diego are not happy with how that one ended.
We'll get to that in a second. We got Los Angeles and Philly. We've got Nick Hamilton will come through and join us. But the game that kind of was the fun one. The Red Sox and Yankees hate each other's guts.
Cam Schlittler jest got here. And he's just like Man, I've been waiting for this. Did this exceed my expectations? Listen to his answer. I mean, you're going to mentally think that it's a hard thing to do.
So that's a PR for me and both stats.
So, yeah, I'm a confident guy and.
So I don't really I do not expect that.
Well l looks like the Yankees were partying. In their uh their clubhouse yesterday.
Sounds like it. They lost game one. They're the first team since this format has been around for, what, three years now? To lose game one. and ultimately come back, and win the series.
Aaron Judge. And he talked about us bouncing back, and this is what he said. I just believe in each other. You know, I told you, I guess you guys didn't believe us, but um. No, there's a lot of belief in each other.
We know what type of team we have. Especially when you're going with Rodon in a do or die game and then you got our guy Cam in a game three. It was. There's a lot of belief in each other, that's for sure. The botchawa they playing old Drake?
They're playing old Drake. Because New Drake is too uh depressing? Not depressing, it's just I don't wanna say he's bad compared to old Drake, but it's more club music. It's not really celebratory.
Well, let's ask Kendrick Lamar, what would he say about Drake's music? I don't even know if he's even onto the music at this point. He's on personal life level with him.
Well, how would he feel about him, period? Would he say he sucks? Probably. Probably worse than that. Yeah, well yeah, I think we heard it.
He performed at the Super Bowl and told us about it. It is yeah, th that was a good game yesterday. Aaron Boone Ripped to shreds for shreds all the damn time. Doesn't matter what he does, who he puts in the lineup, Jash Chisholm can sit and Anyway. Aaron Boone was asked about his rookie and he's just like, yeah, that guy ain't afraid of nothing.
Honestly, every time he's taking the ball, I feel so good about him that he's capable of doing anything because he's such a good strike thrower and with that stuff. but felt great about where he was mentally last night when he was leaving. And, you know, as I said, results aside, you you never know what the results gonna be. Like I knew it wasn't going to be too big for him. Oh, well, good.
We'll see what he does in the the next game or the next series. New York Yankees in action in Toronto tomorrow. Louise Hill? versus Kevin, Gossman, the Yankees are expected to go out there and win this series. No disrespect.
Uh to the Blue Jays, I'm also gonna go. with the New York Yankees. Things are good for the New York Yankees for now. It's just so hilarious. When the Yankees won a series when they went around, I don't know, maybe this is something just about New Yorkers.
Everybody's just over the wall. You would think that just by winning a round, they've won the World Series. And this is the Yankees. I don't know, maybe Yankee fans also Knick fans. Knick fans act like they've won the world just by winning uh one game.
There was so much celebrating yesterday. I'm like, come on, that's the Yankees. Like don't you expect them to do this and if they don't then beat them up And if they win another round, you're gonna celebrate again? Like why you want to do all this celebrating? If you're eventually going to lose, or not eventually, but it's a waste.
Botcha, am I wrong for thinking that? Like, I like the Yankees. I root for the Yankees. But I don't care that they won one stinking round. Like, go win the World Series.
I could care less. My issue with the celebrations are not the fact that You finally beat a tough opponent in the Red Sox. It's just the turnaround. From the celebration is so short, you have to jump on a plane the next day, get to your new spot. That's when it's questionable.
And also the teams That are barely getting in. And you're fighting for your life the next day? Why like the Reds? The Reds threw a whole You could say like a whole party that that was bigger than a party. It was like a whole festival.
And they're dancing, they're champagne everywhere, and then they're just losing two games to the Dodgers.
So I get it, you made the playoffs, enjoy it. But that much kind of throws you off track. I'm not even talking about the team, I'm not talking about the team. I mean, you bust your ass and you play 162. I've always said, I've long gotten over that.
With baseball players, I've long gotten over that. I mean, hey, they celebrate the titles, winning the division, they celebrate getting in the player. I'm long over that. I'm talking about the fan base.
Okay, New York Yankee fans, New York fans act like they have won the world. And it's only been one stink around. It's like the New York Knicks fans. They win one game in a playoff series and they're jumping off of buildings already, hanging from scaffolding. Like, what are we doing here?
Just. Pump the brakes. and relax. I guess everybody has to look for a little bit of joy. You gotta find it when you can get it.
But for me, I'm like, eh. Whatever.
Meanwhile, we got another team in New York. The New York Mets They didn't even make the postseason. Right?
Somebody had to go. It's not their manager. Carlos Mendoza, but today we learned that everybody else is gone.
Okay, hitting coach Jeremy Barnes, Eric Chavez, remember Eric from the Oakland Athletics, now no longer in Oakland. John Gibbons, the bench coach, is gone. basically everybody got told to uh go out here. and take A hike. Not good.
At Jim Duquette, he was on SNY. It's like all these guys were fired from the Mets, but what do they need to do otherwise? Listen to this. Number one priority has to be a pitching coach. Getting the most out of Kodai Senga and Sean Manaya, getting them back on track after subpar 2025 seasons.
They were excellent in 2024.
So getting those two back on track is. Priority number one, in addition to getting acclimated and learning the new top rookies that were brought on and seen late in the season that kept the Mets in the postseason shades. Nolan McLean. Jonah Tong, Brandon Sprote.
So, a lot to get going. And in addition to that, David Stearns has talked about the priority of run prevention. That means they're going to be heavy on the pitching market, both starting and relief. That pitching coach is number one priority when it comes to helping recruit players to the team. A lot going on here for the Mets after a subpar 2025 season.
Man, pitching coach ain't gonna save nobody who don't want to be saved. Koda Sanga's like, I suck, just put me in the minors. Like who says that? Like, I get it. You want to tinker with things a little bit, but you just want to stay down there until you get things right.
What the hell are they paying you for? Like, where's your heart? I've never heard of a guy who says, yeah, sure, yeah, demote me most times. The team's got to rip their guy off the mound. They got to rip them out of the lineup.
And they got to go, hey, man, you can't get it together up here. Go down there. Yeah, go dr go drive a bus, go get in a Winnebago, and take your ass somewhere where you can get yourself together. Kodas Senka's like, Listen guys, I stink I I can't I can't pitch for the Mets right now. Come on, man.
Ain't no pitching coach saving now. Gotta have some dogs. And if you don't got no dogs, if you don't got the dog in you, No pitching coach can't bring that out of you. And good luck to the New York Mets. I mean, I guess as long as you have Steve Cohen's money, you can go out there and uh and throw it around.
Another team, well, at least they made the postseason. At least they won a game. They were eliminated as well yesterday. They have gone balls to the wall trying to put everything together. A.J.
Preller mortgaging his future to try to win the championship. The San Diego Padres, they were eliminated yesterday. And I know a lot of people not happy. They lost. to the Cubs three to one.
In the top of the night, Alexander Bogarts was at the plate. He was called out on what was a bad call. It was not a strike. It was a ball. Let's just say the uh the entire Padres team was not happy.
With the umpire, DJ Rayburn. They gave him a piece of their mind. And if I use any of the words that they used, I won't have a job. And so there's a lot of them who feel that they were cost the game. Listen to Xander Bogart's afterwards.
We talk about it now. It's a ball and yeah, it's just. Mess up the whole game, you know, I mean Can't go back in time and and talking about it now won't change anything so It was it was bad and I mean thank God for ABS next year. This is her Amen. See, that's what I don't like.
Bacha, did he say it messed up the whole game? Is that what he said? Yes, and he's technically... Technically not wrong. I know I know if you go The mentality where, okay, one guy on, everything changes.
But if you look at the way they got out the Padres, they would have tied the game. It would have been two two. Bruh. loser Mentality. Loser mentality.
He didn't mess, the umpire didn't mess up the whole game. They got nine minutes to play baseball. We're going to blame a one bad call. Bacha, did you watch the you? You couldn't.
You were sitting here with me. I had it on. I was. Did you see every ball and strike? Of the game?
No. Oh, there you go. You watched just as much of the game as I did. How many calls were wrong? They had to review at least two or three plays in the game.
I didn't ask you that. I'm by you. How many calls were wrong? You don't know. You weren't watching.
You had it on in the background. No, I had it in the background, but there's always so-I don't know. I could check the scorecard that comes out the next day. Bruh. The scorecard does not show you.
When the umpire's screwed up.
Okay, for every pitch that was thrown. The scorecard doesn't go, this one was wrong. Major League Baseball doesn't put out a review. Hey, these calls, they don't, okay? My point is, it is such a loser mentality.
to look at any singular play. and just go, hey, that screwed the whole game up. Man, if you're a fan, that's one thing for a fan to say that.
Well, that umpire screwed that up. And that screwed us up, that wronged us, that cost us, that robbed us. But man, you gotta look at the totality of the game. There's never ever. One Thing that determines the outcome of a game.
No, it's an amalgamation of a million things. There's a million plays, there's a million decisions.
Okay, what about all the guys that that struck out yesterday? What about all that? I just find it it's the worst thing in sports to go. You cost us the game. What did you do?
What did you not do throughout the course of the game? I don't know. That's, I think, what separates certain people. It's being able to find accountability. and everything.
It's easy to just go. He screwed up the game.
Well You use Xander Bogarts.
Okay, you had you had one hit, one for four.
Okay. and we know the last one, and I agree, yeah, that that was a bad call. Badium.
Okay, that that should have been. A ball it was clear as day. And God bless em, Xander Bogarts is right. We got the automatic ball strike system coming next year. But to look at a guy and just go, E, that messed up the game.
No. You messed up the game. What about everybody else that struck out throughout the course of the game? What about Manny Machado? He was 0 for 3.
It's just. There's so many opportunities. I don't care if it's a game or whatever. There's so many opportunities in life. for people to make a difference in what the hell they doing.
The first thing they want to do is just go. You screwed that up for me. What the hell did you do or not do? Mike Schiller. He has a great reason to be upset.
Because the umpire screwed up. Good reason. Let's hear what he had to say about things. look down to me, you know, but I'm don't see great and I'm kind of far away, but Most importantly, you know, Bogie felt like he was down. He's not a It's not a guy that, you know, is looking not any of our guys really, but.
Bogey also in particular is not a guy that's, you know. totally dramatic about close pitches and You know It's a big pitch. It's a big swing pitch. you know, turned to tie and run and then what unfolded after that. was um have been very impactful but Um You know, we had other opportunities too.
Boom. There you go. Was it a big pitch? Yes. Was it a big call?
Yes. Was it a wrong call? Yes. But Mike Schultz hit the key words that I just said. we had other opportunities.
As well. And it wasn't just In yesterday's game. Y'all played three games. Yo one one. What did You do.
Not what did not happen, or what umpire screwed what up and what went wrong. What did you do? And what did you not do? Look in the mirror first. They'll get over it.
They'll be fine. And I think for the next years, maybe not. They spent a lot of money to try to turn things around. I think that time. is running out.

We talked about the Well, some of the baseball we could see tomorrow. Mm-hmm.
Well more of the complaints, we'll get into some more baseball. at the divisional round of the playoffs uh later on in the show. Talked about the NFL game that started off week five last night in Los Angeles, the Forty Niners. and all their fans showing up in LA. to go out there and and beat the Rams.
And then we got a full slate of games that are going to take place This Sunday in the NFL.
Now, as it normally is, the NFL is a violent game. Guys get hurt, they're not available. Last night we didn't see Brock Purdy, didn't see Pearsall. Nincy Jawan Jennings, And there's quite a few guys who are going to be out this Sunday in some marquee matchups as well.
Well, just flattened, period. One guy that you should not expect to see at all. He has been ruled out. is Lamar Jackson. We know he had to exit last week's game, last week's loss against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Due to a bum hamstring. He is not going to play. As the Baltimore Ravens try to go out there and pick up a W. Against the Houston Texans. Both teams are one and three.
Can't believe Houston and Baltimore are one and three, but here we are. Uh let's see if Baltimore Hey, go out there and get a win with Cooper Rush. I I don't believe so. They just gonna hand that ball to Derrick Henry? And pray to God that things work out.
Don't be surprised if Houston actually picks up. A victory. I mean, they've been dealing with wide receiver issues and injuries dating back to last year.
So, no Lamar Jackson. And if you want to think about the defense, Kyle Hamilton. He didn't practice again today as well. Star safety may be the best safety. In the entire NFL, the Ravens got more than issues with Lamar Jackson.
uh being out. Unfortunately, there's another injury. J.J. McCarthy, a quarterback, he's been hurt with that high ankle sprain. Don't expect to see him play.
Don't expect to see him against. The Browns Okay, Minnesota is still in London, still in the United Kingdom, I should say. They're getting ready to take on. The Cleveland Browns. And so, what's the deal with J.J.
McCarthy? He ain't playing. We got more. Carson Wentz. Listen to what head coach of the Vikings Kevin O'Connell had to say about JJ.
Yeah, he got through pretty well. You know, obviously, with the weather today, my hope was to try to get him.
some work in individual, but with the weather and the tight field space we're working on a 100-yard field. We wanted to be smart with that, but very much looking forward to spending some time with him next week and then see where he's at coming out of the bye. This week What a game to wake up to, right? It's going to take place in the UK. I don't know.
Who wants to wake up and see Carson Wentz throwing interceptions? I mean, last week against Pittsburgh. He threw two interceptions.
Okay, the week before that against Cincinnati, when they blew him out, he had two touchdowns. He had two touchdowns last week, too, but two touchdowns, two interceptions get you a loss. Kevin O'Connell. How you feeling about Carson Wentz? Is is he okay?
He good? Yeah, I think he's gotten enough time now. It all goes back to you know that Thursday practice after JJ's you know high ankle sprain where he was able or really when he had had his baby and then the week of prep.
So he's really going on now his second complete full week of preparation going into a start and just all those logs or logged reps. Are starting to be where you can have some things to circle back on that's not just what you did in Philly or LA or Kansas City or. Indy or any of the other spots he's been. It's now, you know, I remember this rep from a couple Thursdays ago. I, you know, I.
I didn't see this right and Here's why, and then the dialogue of with us to him of how can we make this fit your eye and fit your comfort level. Wow, he said a lot just to say the guy ain't playin'. Started talking about the guy's baby and his kid, and I find we get it. Yeah, JJ is a. A new dad.
Welcome to the welcome to the world. Hey, good luck. Nobody wants to see Carson Wentz. People want to see. It's J.J.
McCarthy. We want to know what this guy. can do.
Meanwhile, we got another game. I told you about that Sam Darnold guy. I don't wouldn't trust this guy for nothing for an entire season. Did you see what he did at the end of the season last year for the Vikings? Didn't help them win, he helped them lose.
But anyway, you know. Seattle is three and one right now. They're going to take on the three and one Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Buccaneers have basically gone down to the wire. on every single victory.
They're just like, okay, well. How do we win?
Well, we just got to come back at the end of the game. They beat the Jets at the end. They beat Houston at the end. They beat Atlanta at the end. And then they ran into Philly.
And they lost last week. And not only have they lost, a couple of weeks ago, they lost Mike Evans. At least Godwin is back and better. And now you got Bucky Irving, who's going to be out with a foot issue. Right, this is one of the more versatile uh offensive weapons in the game.
He can run a football, he can catch passes, he can do it all. He's going to be out. Todd Bowles, Mr. Enthusiasm himself. This what he had to say about the injuries.
Buckies out. Evans is out. Dean is out. Easy is out. Morrison is out.
Yeah, he's he's always excited about everything. Always excited. Yeah, don't be surprised if the Seahawks go four and one. and Tampa falls to three and two. At least for the Buccaneers, everybody who plays in their division, NFC South, well, they kind of suck.
I'm sorry to the Falcon fans. Maybe they can also. quite possibly turn things around. Other guys injured and hurt. Geno Smith, oh, he's healthy.
His brain is just kind of busted up throwing all these interceptions. The Raiders are going to take on the Colts. You got Brock Bowers. He's been kind of busted up, I feel like, all. season Long.
What the heck is going on with him? Is this knee still bothering him?
Somebody asked Pete Carroll what's going on. Was Brock, was there a setback of some sort, or is it just kind of changing the way you guys are managing? No, just want to make sure and slow it down a little bit and give them some extra rest. That's really what we try to do. He's still young.
He's twenty two years old. Give him some rest, just Hope for the best. He ain't in practice today. Wow. He came back too soon, maybe from the knee injury.
At the same time, Michael Mayer is dealing with an injury as well. I mean the Indianapolis Colts are gonna probably go four and one. Hey, Bacha, how many Geno Smith interceptions in this one? One. I think he's gonna get One of the interceptions late in the game, one or two, just like a Hail Mary at the end of the half.
Ouch. Yeah, Geno Smith, what a season he's having so far. A horrific one. Six touchdowns.
in seven interceptions. I don't know, maybe at some point in time Tom Brady wakes up and just goes, You know what? I don't want to broadcast. I don't even want to have a stake in the team. Let me go out there.
and play quarterback. Let me remind you. The backup quarterback for the Raiders? Kenny Pickett. Can things get so bad that we see Kenny Pickett?
I think the answer, well, I think the answer is yes. Damn. And good luck to Gino. No more interceptions, guy.
Okay, no more. Just hand the ball to Ashton Genty. The JR Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast. On the Infinity Sports Network. Yeah, we got a lot of injuries.
Truba Hubbard is out with a calf. Against the Dolphins, that sucks, that stinks. And then we saw this earlier this week: Braylon Allen. With the New York Jets. His knee went the wrong damn way against the Dolphins.
He's going to be out. Probably the rest of the season. Yeah, he's on injured. Reserve. New York Jets gotta find another running back to work with.
to kind of help carry the load. The JR Sport Ree Show on the Infinity Sports Network. We're going to take a break. When we come back, You know what? Let let's get into let's get into some of the the teams and guys and players that are actually going to be healthy.
The JR Sport Brief Show. Well the Infinity Sports Network don't move. Botox Cosmetic, Autobotulinum Toxin A, FDA approved for over 20 years.
