Thank you to our producer in New York City, Ryan Bocher. Thank you to you again for listening. We got some Major League Baseball going on right now, postseason action: the New York Yankees and the Red Sox. They're tied at two runs apiece here. In the top of the fourth.
Trevor's story tied the game up. A two run single here. And Boston ties up the Yankees two runs to two. Ben Rice hit a home run in the opening frame. We'll keep you up to date on the Red Sox and Yankees as this game continues on.
If the Yankees lose, Their season is Over. We couple teams who stayed alive earlier today. You got San Diego beating the Cubs. You got Cleveland tying their series against Detroit later on this evening, this afternoon, tonight. You got Cincinnati.
And the Dodgers. Dodgers trying to get rid of the Reds. Here, we got more to do. We already had a great chat. Thank you so much to Andy Baskin for joining us from Ninety two Three The Fan.
Talked about the Browns in their quarterback situation. Dylan Gabriel is getting the start. Over old man Joe Flacco. Shador Sanders, well, he's still in the background. Stinks for ham.
We got a w we got so much to do. In an hour from now, I'll give you a new top six list. We're going to have a conversation. about the most dysfunctional the worst sports organizations today. Yeah, that top six list is coming an hour from now.
We're going to get into the WNBA. They're looking very dysfunctional. Right now. Got the players beefing publicly with the Commissioner. That's some crazy stuff.
We're going to give you a preview of Thursday Night Football. Greg Beecham is going to join us. covers all things. LA Sports. He'll be here with us in about twenty minutes to talk about the Rams.
and the Forty Niners. There will be no Brock Purdy to morrow. Brock Purdy is out. still dealing with that toe issue. Remember Brock Purdy.
He just came back, uh we got two games of Mac Jones of Woof. Purdy threw two interceptions, two touchdowns, had a A fumble. He woke up and he's like, My foot hurts. And now we know we will not see him Thursday night football. You got Mac Jones dealing with a knee injury as well.
It's just bad. It's bad. Not everything is injury related. We told you about Joe Flacco. He's sitting down because, well, he's not.
He threw six interceptions, the Browns stink. They're going to give Dylan Gabriel an opportunity. And we had this chat with Andy Baskin. You know, everybody's response to it. Joe Flacco basically said, I'm a little, I'm surprised.
I did not expect this to take place. Let's listen to Joe Flacco. on being benched for Dylan Gabriel. I think the tougher thing is just going through what we've gone through the last four weeks and just not being able to produce the way we wanted to. You know, listen, when you're in the moment and you're having conversations with people, it is what it is.
You look people in the eye and you Tell them how it is, and that's what it is. What was your conversation like with Kevin? And did you kind of foresee this coming? I don't think I foresaw it. Listen, I think I said it on Sunday.
Anytime you're in this league, I mean, everybody's always getting evaluated, and the job of a quarterback is to help your team win football games. I don't know if I foresaw it coming, but listen, me and Kevin can have a good conversation. It wasn't like it was anything super long or drawn out like that, but. got to the point and had a good conversation with him about it and it is what it is. Yeah.
It is what it is. He said that a bunch. It is what it is. Shoutouts to Cameron and Mace. It is what it is.
Let's hear from head coach Kevin Stafansky. Why do you think Dylan Gabriel? is ready to make his first NFL career start. From the second he's been here, he's been working very hard, very intelligent young man. He's done a nice job throughout practice.
And he's been this whole season, he's been learning how to get yourself ready and understand the rhythm of an NFL week and what that looks like as a backup. And obviously, now I feel like he's ready to go in as a starter.
Okay. Right. I expect him to get his his brains beat in. No, I hope not, you know, literally, but I expect him to get beat up quite a bit. I also expect the Minnesota Vikings to win.
I know that Carson Wentz is the starter.
Well, that stinks for all the Vikings fans. I don't know, maybe Cleveland and their defense and their fear goal kicking can win them this game out in the United Kingdom, but I'm not all that confident. Shador Sanders. It's been said that even though Dylan Gabriel is being elevated to quarterback number one, he is still going to be quarterback. Number three.
He was in the locker room earlier today. And he was asked about this entire quarterback situation. How does he feel about not being elevated? He's still not the backup. He's the emergency QB.
He didn't answer any of the questions. He just... He mimed them and mouthed them Like he didn't want to verbally be put on record is. Am I in high school? Like, what the heck is this about?
Try and listen and understand what you're going to hear. Vocally And you can debate that. And it's awesome. Enjoying yourself and having fun? A few more speculative F true.
Uh shout out to the coaches uh What can you say? How much is Joe an important clothes you had? Do your guys like development to the But Life. Yes. This is a This is one of the worst and most interesting interviews that you will ever heard in your life.
He didn't say anything. They're asking him about your communications with the coach, and he's not saying anything. I don't know, maybe this is one of the reasons why people passed on him. I asked this question to Andy Baskin. He said that Shador has been great in the community.
I certainly believe so. We haven't heard anything ridiculous outside of him driving like a maniac a few times. I think that's kind of ridiculous. I just don't that's not a good look. Don't do that.
They're asking you questions, support your teammates, even if you don't want to. You play the game, man. Don't look like a goofball in the process of it. I want to see Shador play. Don't do or say things that that will go out there.
and jeopardize it.
Meanwhile we got another quarterback. This man also plays in the A F C North It's Lamar Jackson. Baltimore Ravens. We know he's been dealing with a hamstring issue. After losing to the Kansas City Chiefs, he was removed in a third.
Apparently, Lamar Jackson did not play. wasn't on the field. You want to know who's sick and tired of answering questions about him and his availability? Head coach of the Baltimore Ravens, John Harbaugh. Listen to him.
He's gonna punch a reporter in the face, maybe, possibly. Is it one particular play in Kansas City or? No, I really don't have any information on that, and I really don't think it matters. You know, it's not really what I'm thinking about. uh thinking about the team, getting ready to practice and uh And Lamar's working, you know, he's doing a great job.
I talked to him yesterday for a long time. He's in here all day today working and in the meetings and different things like that.
So, yeah, it's just kind of what we do. With Lamar, I know you proved him to follow the info. You would say day to day with him? How would I just say anything? That's what I would do.
I just don't want to take anything out of it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Why don't we just leave it alone and we'll just. Yeah, the injury report, thank you. The injury report will be out at four.
No, my goodness, he's. He's losing it. I mean, what is he supposed to say? And what I get it, the guys are going to ask: Lamar Jackson ain't playing. The next up for the Baltimore Ravens happen to be the Texans.
John Harbar will go ahead and have himself a stiff drink. later on today. I'm I'm almost certain of that. Told you about Brock Purdy. Brock Purdy re-injuring or aggravating his toe injuries that it was swollen, was hurt, was painful.
He is not going to play tomorrow. Thursday night football as the rams Host The 49ers. Get ready for Mac Jones, who's coming back dealing with his own knee injury. I have a feeling Mac Jones is, well,. He's going to be knocked into the ground quite a bit.
If not the most mobile of QBEs, and now he's dealing with a knee injury. Ricky Pearsall also. Out. Jawan Jennings, out. Not good for the 49ers at all.
Here's some good news. If you're a fan of the Commanders, This is very good. Jaden Daniels, he suffered a knee sprain. week two against the Packers, Commanders are two and two. They got The Chargers next in LA, the other Los Angeles team.
It's good to have Jaden Daniels back. This what he had to say. about the injury and the process of it. Been tough. Obviously, you know, as a competitor, you want to go out there and h um help your team in any way possible.
So kind of be in sideline for Um this past couple weeks, you know, were super tough, but um DQ and my team obviously was there for me because they knew how much it meant to me. And I try to return that same energy. And I think I was able to do that. Yeah. D Q Dan Quinn not Dairy.
Queen.
Well, he's been medically cleared to return, which you would think he'd be out there playing no reason to bring him off the bench and throw Marcus Mariota out there. I mean, he had a decent game against the Falcons this past Sunday. I actually saw him in person. I still would not trust that man with a football if Jaden Daniels was my option. Let's listen to DQ, Dan Quinn, Dairy Queen.
When are you going to make this decision? We know the answer, but listen to what the reporter is asking. Listen to his answer. Just real back into the fold of it, David. You'll get all the reps at the practice, so we'll be.
Back at a full speed, the execution, the timing, all of that. That's really what I'm looking for. But he's definitely chomping at the bit to get going. Or just running the offense, being back to himself. That was our discussion today to make sure, man, like all the looks, all the calls, and the speed of the practice.
Yeah. Yeah, welcome. I think we'll see him we're out there. No reason to clear him and not play him. I don't think they're going to bring him off the bench.
Not at all. 888-710-4ISN is the number. That's 888-710-4ISN. Hey, in about 10 minutes, we're going to have a conversation with Greg Beecher. He's going to join us from the Associated Press.
I'm going to get all his thoughts about the Los Angeles Rams, the 49ers and Purdy. We'll do that in 10 minutes. But right now, let's go to Chicago. and talk to Mike. Mike, you're on the JR Sport Brief Show.
What's up? There you are, buddy. How are you? I am amazing. What's up?
Can I ask your Screen guy, that guy calls the screen. Leave me on for two minutes so I can hear your rebuttal because I'm not in my car right now. I'm actually in a pet store with my dogs.
Okay, you got to feed them or they need new leashes. What's going on with the dogs? No, no, no. I bring 'em in here just to walk 'em. And it's it's hot out here today, so they come in here.
They like looking around and stuff. You know, but I was going to wait till the break. I thought maybe you weren't going to get me till after the break, but I if you could just leave me on for two minutes to hear what you have to say. Oh, just go ahead, Mike. Don't worry about that.
Well, what do you have to say? What's up? Okay, JR.
So here's my deal. I am disgusted, and I'm 63 years old. I'm sick and tired of watching football games. that are decided by a referee's bad call or the lack thereof of 'Kay.
Now, I'm going to tell you something. This is one of two things. And I called a local radio station here in Chicago, and I know you guys agree with yes, WSCR, yes, I did. And I told him, I said, this is one of two things. It's here's either a conspiracy theory that your apps are being paid off or it's horrible officiating And either way, it's scary to watch, and it's embarrassing if it's the latter of the two.
And I'm not going to sit here and go a conspiracy theory, but I'm just saying, Jare. What is the inadequacy of the officiating with the NFL? Because I'm going to tell you something. disgusting to watch. And I'm not I'm a Bears fan, so I was hoping the Packers were going to lose Sunday night, okay.
But When I saw Dak Prescott throw that pass, and it was in the receiver for 20 yards. How do you not call that intentional grounding? And there were like four refs around there. This is what I'm saying. And even the official, even the analysis.
I already have an answer for you, Mike. You don't. You don't have to go anywhere. Just listen very carefully. Dio, you good?
Okay, great deal. I don't blame anything on a referee.
Okay, humans are humans are out here roughing the games. There's no robots. Humans make mistakes. They're going to miss things. They're going to screw up.
They're going to freeze. That's just part of the process.
Okay, every referee, I don't care, referee, umpire, who it is, nobody will be perfect. When you sit down and you watch professional sports or you participate in the game, you have to understand what is in your control. I would never, and I still don't to this day, look at any game and go, Man, the ref decided that game. When you step in between the lines and you got 60 minutes, or you got 48 minutes, or you got nine innings, or whatever the case might be, you have an allotted amount of time. that you are in control.
Like, don't blame the ref. You can say, oh, well, at the end of the game, the ref cost them the game. No, there was a whole lot of stuff. That took place before we even got there. And so I think ultimately, unless we hit a space or get to a time where we just got robots out here.
calling these games that things are always going to be imperfect. I mean, we should expect it. It's easy it's the easy thing to do. To look at one play, look at the last play, look at the end of the play and say, the ref screwed things up. The ref didn't help.
The ref blew the game. No, you did it. You did it. You had sixty min did the referee kick you in the nuts? Did the referee trip you?
What happened for the other fifty nine minutes and I don't know or fifty nine seconds? That's what's important. What did you not do as a team? Here's the thing. Don't leave the game.
In the hands of the refs. If you got to look at it that way, don't Leave the decisions. up to the refs. Do what you have to do. dominate Try your best.
where you leave no shadow of a doubt, or leave nothing up for interpretation with somebody else's eyeballs.
Okay, we in we know where every where everybody's human. We can't expect the referees to be anything different. Are some worse than others? Absolute freak and lootly. I think the WNBA would come to tell you the same thing.
Well, their players think the refs suck. Maybe they do. I don't watch. It's the JR Sport Brief Show here with you, Coast to Coast, on the Infinity Sports Network. We're going to talk some.
Thursday night football. We will have no Brock Purdy tomorrow. But we're going to have a Matt Stafford. And these Rams, man, these Rams look like they're just. Going to the championship.
Maybe they got a lot of lot to do before we get there, but they're looking good. We'll have this chat with Greg Beacham on the other side of the break. Covers all things Rams for the Associated Press. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief Show Coast to Coast on the Infinity Sports Network. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief. It is the JR Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. Hey, we talked about a lot of quarterbacks that We won't see. Joe Flacco will be sitting on the bench. Looks like Lamar Jackson might be benched as well with that Hammy issue.
And then tomorrow we got Thursday night football. Hey, Brock Purdy, he looks like he won't be playing with that toe issue. And the Rams, well, they're looking good. The Rams are 3-1. Matthew Stafford is looking good.
Man, it looks like they might be on a Super Bowl run, maybe to maybe. Really knock off the Eagles this go around? Joining us right now is someone who covers all sports in southern Los Angeles, especially with those Rams. Talk about with the Rams, what we've seen so far, what we can expect the rest of the way. Here with us right now from the Associated Press is Greg.
Beatram. Gregg, how are you, man? I'm good, JR. How are you, man? I'm very well.
I appreciate you taking the time and joining us. Uh we heard so much in the offseason about Matthew Stafford and his back. No back issues now.
So far so good, huh? He's looking pretty good. Yeah, I mean, it's like he said at the start of camp. They were arresting him to keep him as healthy as possible for the season. And anybody who's ever had a bad back knows it's fine until it's not.
And he's been in pretty good condition the whole season. He's been sacked, I think, eight times, but nothing really serious. He hasn't taken a lot of damage. He's got a decent offensive line in front of him. And he's dealing, man.
I mean, you look at Puka's numbers, you look at Devontae's numbers, you can tell this is a quarterback who's doing really well at the peak of his powers and getting it done. Yeah, he is not playing any games whatsoever. And then when you got a guy like Puk Nakua who happens to be out there, he basically leads the NFL in everything having to do with a wide receiver. How is he able to do this year after year after year? Especially, well, we know he's had the injuries here and there, but when he's on the field, he's a brute.
He's got magic powers. That guy is an incredible football player to watch. It's a real pleasure for Rams fans and for NFL fans in general. Just to see the way he approaches this game. And the way he approaches it is as a very physical receipt.
who will run to contact, who will even initiate contact. and not just sit back and wait to get hit. He's not the best at avoiding, you know, Damage and the things that shorten a guy's career, and he'd be the first to tell you that because he loves that part of tackle football. He loves getting into it, he loves grinding for extra yards, he loves trying to break tackles. And he just brings this mentality that not only affects him, but it affects the offense, it affects the entire team, really, when they see who.
Who can make that extra effort when he gets open, does the things necessary to move the chains? Score touchdown and even a block for his teammates. I mean, that's the one hallmark of Rams receivers from the start of Sean McBay's career. from Robert Woods all the way down to Puka now is that they block. They block really hard.
And Puka is the avatar of that. He's done a really great job this year. The numbers are jaw-dropping. Part of that's because he's got Devontae Adams on the other side who draws a lot of attention from other teams' defenses. Frees him up just that little bit, which is all you need for a star receiver to do the kind of stuff that he's doing through the first four games.
Greg Beetram is joining us here from the Associated Press and the out in southern Los Angeles. You mentioned Devontae Adams. We know he's always used to being The number one. He knew what this situation was going in. He's having a good year to start so far.
How great is this for Matthew Stafford? They're both big wide receivers. They're different. in regards to their style and their play, but how has Devonta overall fit in in Los Angeles with the Rams? He's fit in great.
I think this has drawn up exactly how General Manager Les Sneed hoped it would. Like you said, they provide a good physical talented counterpart to each other. They have different games, but the thing they have in common is that they're open a lot. They're really precise with their techniques. They know defenses inside and out, and they know how to get open.
And Matthew Stafford is a quarterback who. you know Is not at his physical peak, but he's still extremely good at what he does, and he's smarter than he's ever been. He's seen more than he's ever been. When we talk to him during the week, we'll ask him about a particular route. He'll say, I don't think I've thrown that since I got here on a play.
And he can remember pretty much every play. That he's run in the last five years with the Rams. And just the fact that he knows everything that's going to come towards him, every defense. that that you can possibly throw at him. And then have two guys who are an elite probo level.
Catching passes from him. They've had that before with Cooper Cup, but Cooper had a lot of injuries in the last three years, ever since his Super Bowl MVP year. Devontae Adams is a guy who doesn't really get injured. and uh for any significant amount of time. And Puka's had some injuries, but he's 100% right now, just roaring down the field.
So it's a great combo for the Rams, and it's worked out really well for them so far. The Greg you mentioned that Super Bowl year. I remember if we go back, we think about that defense and all the names that they had on the defense. We know those guys are long gone. They have reset the defense.
We got guys like Jared Verse, and now they're moving him all over the line of scrimmage. You got Byron Young, who already has five sacks on the year. How well have they retooled on defense with all of these youngsters? I mean, they were going all in and screw the picks, but they've been able to. Kind of take some picks and rebuild here.
That is really the most impressive part of this rebuild, don't you think? I just'm amazed by how quickly they were able to get a defense together after getting down to the point where they. They were down to the studs more or less. They traded Jalen Ramsey. They were starting over in a lot of positions.
And then Aaron Donnell walks away before last season.
So it was a it's been a complete rebuild. Like you said, the roster looks completely different now. But what they did was they built around the defensive line. They had two straight drafts where they drafted four above-average front-seven players. They got.
They got Kobe Turner and Byron Young, and then the next year they got Jared Vurse and Braden Fisk. All four of those guys are playing a ton of minutes for them. They don't really care about inside linebackers. They hire whoever they got. They got Nate Landman as a free agent.
He's done really well for them so far, but that's not really where they focus their attention. And then they've got two really good safeties, which I think gets overlooked sometimes on this defense. They've got Quentin Lake, who's kind of a do-it-all, you know, he'll guard a guy. He'll play the back. He'll step up and tackle in the run game.
Then they got Cam Curl, who got the show out last weekend with two interceptions. But in general, just a really good down-to-down, hard-hitting safety. Their defensive backs, their cornerbacks are not the most impressive group on the team. Probably the least impressive group on the team, but they've made it work together overall. The fact that they've been able to put up the numbers that they have with a completely new roster, completely new defensive coordinator, Chris Sheila's in his second year.
The last two years have been very impressive and and I I don't know what else to say about it except wow. Greg Beecham is here with us from the Associated Press. There's so much positivity surrounding Of the Rams. We saw them push the Eagles last year in the postseason. Let's just get to tomorrow first.
The 49ers are seemingly going in the opposite direction. They are dealing with injuries. They are in a similar reset, moving on from a lot of their veterans trying to go younger. Purdy is not going to play tomorrow. Should we expect an annihilation?
Oh yeah. Having watched this series the entire careers of Kyle Shanahan and Sean McVay, you cannot expect an annihilation. You can't even expect a win for the Rams, really, even though they've won 300, just because. Kyle owned his little brother Sean for so long at this rivalry. Nine out of 10, the only win was that coin flip NFC championship game for four straight years.
I mean, I guess five straight years, honestly. Wow.
So they they they won three in a row now, but one of those games was all backups. It was the the the final game of the previous season. And then last year, you know, the Niners have had injuries. They had a bad year last year that a lot of guys were hurt. They're so hurt now that I don't know how it would be, you know How you could look at it in a vacuum and just say they can compete.
I mean, you're down your quarterback, you're down two-star receivers, you're down your tight end, and you're down your best defensive player. That's ridiculous. I mean, that's. NFL teams are not built to withstand that kind of attrition. Having said that, you know, Kyle Shanahan has always game planned very well against Sean McBay's team, and Sean McBay.
Will say it's just another game. He'll say he has nothing but great love and affection for Kyle. You know, inside of him that he really wants to win this game because that's a guy that he admires, the guy that he worked with, that's a guy that they're still friends with. And that he's a Sean's a competitor, he wants to win. I can't expect an annihilation.
I also think the Rams just have the numbers on them this time, particularly on a short week. In terms of the health, they're largely healthy. They might be down their right tackle. We're not sure. But other than that, the Rams have all the pieces they need to be successful, whereas the Niners don't appear to.
Sure as hell doesn't seem that way. When you think about the the big picture. Outside of Just Tomorrow. Do you expect these Rams to overall win this division and maybe sit down in the NFC Championship game? I think they've earned the right to be the favorite.
By the way, they won the division last year, coming from behind and rallying past the other three teams after their awful start to the season. I think Seattle has a very impressive team and it looks like they're finally getting it together there. They've added Sam Darnold, which is a great addition in my opinion, as a guy who also covers USC football and knows that Sam Darnold is a good quarterback. Uh but you know you it's it's too hard to tell what's going to break down and what w what injuries are going to come up, all that kind of stuff. But I think the Rams have to be the favorite just because they're the defending division champions and they're looking really good so far.
I mean, they were a block kick away from beating Philly. You know, they had to come back late to beat Indy last week. But this is a team that can contend on both sides of the ball with the best teams in the league. They've got a tough schedule. They've already played a tough schedule against some really tough running backs, some really tough defenses so far and they've come out of it three and one with a chance to go four and one on a short week so I think they're the favorites, whether that comes down, you know, whether that plays out over the next three months and whether they stay healthy enough to remain the favorites is what remains to be seen.
But yeah, I mean, I think they've earned it. Greg Beetram is here with us, covers all things sports in Southern Los Angeles for the Associated Press.
Now, uh having given us a preview for the Rams and rest of the season, I'd be remiss not to ask you about the Los Angeles Lakers. They just had their media day. I mean, LeBron is telling us the same thing over and over again. LeBron, we know you're closer to the end. than you are to the beginning.
Aren't we all? Ha ha ha ha ha. Do you think He's gonna well, not this year. I expect him to continue playing past this year. But do you think he's gonna hang up his his his sneakers, his kicks as a member of the Lakers, or is he just utilizing whatever leverage he thinks he might have?
Listen, we're all guessing at this point. And I do think that he's very happy living in Los Angeles. I think his wife and his daughter are very happy living here. I think it comes down to whether the Lakers are a contending team, which is basically what Rich Paul told everybody in July, when LeBron picked up his option. If the Lakers remain competitive, if Lucas stays healthy, then they will remain competitive, obviously.
I think he's happy to be here. I don't know that he needs to uproot his life. and make the change that it would be to to go Chase a ring somewhere. That really seems kind of beneath LeBron. Having said that, if the Lakers fall apart, if guys get hurt, if Luca gets hurt for some reason, I I don't see why anyone would object to LeBron, you know, going back to Cleveland, going to New York, wherever.
wherever the situation was right for him to chase a ring. I don't think I don't think this is his last season. I think he'll play another one. We don't know for sure. He may not even know for sure, but he's playing so well, it would be a shame to walk away, you know, if he's still at the height of his game.
But in terms of like staying with the Lakers, I think he's here until The situation becomes unfeasible, and I don't have any reason to think it will. I mean, they could be really good. Luca is in phenomenal shape, as you've undoubtedly seen. They've got a better roster this year than they do last year. And last year, they won 50 games and they won the Pacific Division.
If they hadn't run into a really hot Timberwolves team, who knows what might have happened. I think he's here and I think he's happy. And just if things stay the way they are at the Lakers, I think he will retire here. But all this is is TBD in it. subject to Luca's health, I think.

Giving us a preview of Thursday Night Football. We will have no Brock Purdy, we'll have no Pearsall, we will have no Juwan Jennings. And I believe The Rams are going to go out there tomorrow. and give The forty niners The business. I'm not trustin' Mac Jones to do anything.
Maybe it'll be a good game. Maybe it won't. Speaking of a good game, Damn. It's uh yeah, it's gonna be the bottom of the sixth We got a good game in the Bronx, I guess, if you're a Red Sox fan. Every time the Yankees pull ahead.
And we just got the update from Rich Ackerman. The Red Sox say not so fast. The Red Sox have tied up this game against the New York Yankees. It is 3-3 moving into the bottom. of the sixth.
The culprit Trevor Story, who just had a home run to left center, tying the game up 3-3. He is the same man, but Well He singled. had a two run single in the third inning, and so Trevor's story has accounted for all of the runs here. For the Boston Red Sox. It's three.
Three at this moment. Pretty crazy. Trevor Story, he didn't even play last year. Here he has had a good season for the Boston Red Sox. It's like, damn.
Yeah, Trevor's story whooping ass out here. And Yankee fans they will be biting their fingernails throughout this game. Let's see what the bullpen does, okay? 'Cause if they gotta go to they're gonna have to go to that bullpen, uh things could get ugly quick. For the New York Yankees, it could be.
And Aaron Boone will be ripped to shreds for whatever decision he does. Man, the Yankees could win today tonight. Aaron Boone would still be criticized about how he would screw things up, For tomorrow, well, let's get there first. We'll keep you up to date on the Yankees and Red Sox as we continue on. Speaking of managers, you know, Botcher and I discussed this, he doesn't think that.
Aaron Boone is going anywhere either way. I don't believe Aaron Boone is going anywhere either way. It'd have to be a complete disaster here with the Yankees, but. We've had some managers who who have been fired. They've been let go.
Well, we know back on Monday, Bob Melvin relieved of his duties with the San Francisco Giants. And we also know that Bruce Boce is no longer going to be a member of the Texas Rangers, where he won that World Series a couple of seasons ago. and where he also has one of the greatest voices. I would say in sports, period. I'm going to miss his voice.
And so naturally, There have been a lot of discussions. about Bruce Bocey returning To the Giants, where you might say a little more than a decade ago, they won three World Series titles. And this man was a part of a great dynasty. You know what? Who's a part of that?
Buster Posey, who also runs the San Francisco Giants at this point in time. He spoke to the media. You want to know what he said? Buster Posey basically said I ain't trying to go back in time And bring in Bruce Boce. Yeah, I talked to Boach a couple days ago and just, you know.
I told him that where we are currently, and I don't even know what Boche's plans are, if he wants to continue to manage or not. Um you know, the the door is always open here for some sort of role. Um but the way I think things are Coming into picture in my mind with where we want to go next. Um I I don't see us going that route with Boach. Oh, damn He basically said a lot of words to make it just sound like we don't want him.
That's it. We don't want to go back in time. And if I'm the Giants, I get it. I understand. You want to start fresh, you want to start new.
How long are you going to have Bruce Bocey? The guy is 70. years old. There comes a point in time where you gotta go out there. and start over.
You just gonna bring him back? And just say, hey, let's win a World Series. No, you want to have someone that you can roll out there and develop, and maybe he can be the manager for the next 10 plus years. That's the plan. Mean, we got Snitger.
We talked about him retiring, but Calling it a rap as the manager of the Braves. He won a World Series a couple of seasons ago.
Well, damn, it's not a couple now, 2021. Time flies. But anyway. He's stepping down. He had his success.
It's going to be time for the Braves to move on as well. Listen to Brian Snicker. He talked about his uh decision in his is time to retire. You know, three years ago, um I signed the extension. Uh um And This, you know, when I signed it, um, this was to be my My last year, and I was kind of excited about it because I thought, well, You know, it's going to put a reality to it and um I was really good with it.
I was very appreciative that, you know, I Honestly, I never thought I'd manage one day. in the major leagues, let alone ten years. Yeah, good good for him. Brian Snicker is a very nice guy. People love him here.
people absolutely. We love them. and speakin' of lovin' somebody. The Angels, well, Ron Washington had the heart issue. He has a contract option for next year.
The Angels said, Alright, no thanks, and the Angels are moving on.
Okay, it's it's unfortunate. Ron Washington knows how it goes. He is not going to be with the Angels next year. But I saw one name that made me go What? Apparently There's interest.
And the angels bringing in Albert Pool holes. to manage the team. I had to go, what, Albert Pujols are they just bringing him in because they're they're a dumb organization, which they are. But are they bringing in Albert Pujols because they know him and they like him? Apparently it's more than that.
Albert Puholst has been managing In the Dominican League. A matter of fact he went to their championship game last year. He's going to manage the Dominican Republic team. in the 2026 World Baseball Classic. And I guess after you give somebody a ten year, two hundred and forty million dollar contract, which uh, by the way, didn't net anything for the Angels at least, made a lot of money for our poor host.
It's also on the second side of half of his career he was better. in the beginning with Saint Louis, I digress. I'm like, I didn't even know Albert Pushhost was out here managing. The machine. Bacha, did you know he was managing?
I did, just because I think. There was a couple incidents in the Dominican League where players were fighting each other, and he was the manager. I'm like, why in the world is Pujos even doing that? And and uh then I saw they they won, so uh they just Double reminder.
Okay. Y you saw that they won they won who, they being what? Who else's Dominican team won the championship?
So He's got some talent. As a manager? If he could win a championship in some form. You think so? Does that necessarily translate over to Major League Baseball?
I think it's A foundation where you can manage personalities. And manage Some bullpen decisions, even though it's completely different to major league schedule. But there's there's a groundbreak. It's kinda crazy to think. He finished up only three seasons ago.
He's still only 45 years old. He's still only 45 years old. I know there have been a lot of jokes. about him and his age and how old he really is. but he is so closely removed from playing.
that I'm like I thought Albert Pooh Host would retire I thought he'd sit at home with his family. And I thought that he would just say I'm done. And so to see him out here managing, I had No idea. And this is this is bad, right? And maybe you you gotta take whatever you know, introduction into Major League Baseball that you can.
to manage the angels? I don't want to say it's it's career suicide. You gotta do what you gotta do to get your foot in a door. Who are you managing? What are you managing?
Like if if if I'm Albert Pooh Holes, Wouldn't you be best served maybe to be a bench coach first? But look, I get it. If Artie Moreno is going to give you a job, And if he's going to offer you money. If he's gonna say go ahead and skip the line, let's go from the Dominican League. To managing the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, or whatever the hell they call them, in 2025.
I guess Albert Pooleholst would have to go out there. interest take The job. Why not? The Angels hired him as a special assistant. back in 2023.
Part of a 10-year personal services contract.
So maybe they'll just up the ante a little bit more. and tell him. Sit on the bench. He's been managing in the Dominican League. since last year, February of twenty twenty four.
Okay, we'll see. The angels have made some dumb decisions in the past. Bringing in a manager with no experience I I think they've uh I think they've done worse over the course of time. It's the J.R. Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network.
A matter of fact. You know, we talked about the Angels now. We discussed the Browns. When we come back on the other side of the break, It's going to be time for a new top six list. It's what I do every single Wednesday.
Today, I'm going to give you a top six list of the worst organizations in sports today. That top six list is coming your way in a matter of minutes.
