Andrew Berry, I don't know who we blame the Haslams for the Deshaun Watson debacle. The questions and the criticisms are more about ownership than anybody on the sideline or in the GM. He's the head coach of a franchise owned by Jimmy Haslam, so who knows if you put him in a more stable situation with a less volatile compound in the owner's box, maybe you'd get more. Show. If you want to be a part of the show outside of listening, You can call up. You could talk to me. The phone number is 888. Seven ten.
For ISN. That's 888. A seven ten. For ISN. If you use the Internet, If you use it safely, You can find me there.
I'm on Sweater. Mm X and Facebook, Instagram, all of the things. I am at JR Sport Brief at JR Sport Brief everywhere. The phone number again, 888-710-4ISN. We got Justin here.
From Green Bay. The only Green Bay I know is in Wisconsin. Justin, you're on the JR Sport Brief Show. What's up? Hey uh I appreciate you taking my call.
First time, long time. How you doing? I'm excellent. What's on your mind?
So, I have a question followed by a take. My question is. Do you think there's more guys that should be in the NFL Hall of Fame and aren't? or more guys that are in there that shouldn't be. Uh man, I I think that Are there more people that need to get in?
I think if you deserve to get in, for the most part, you do. I mean, you got a few guys on the outside who are looking in. It's not. necessarily you know leaving guys out like that. Sure.
And I think I agree with you there. And each sport is different. But when you talk about the quarterback position, And the amount of money they make and the pressure that's on them and the responsibility is obviously the most important position in sports. Like there aren't that many starting quarterbacks that have won Super Bowls. The list is short.
And the list of guys that have won a Super Bowl that we can debate about whether or not they should be Hall of Famers. is really, really short. And I guess the hot take is Like like maybe winning a Super Bowl as a starting quarterback Like bees. Enough to put you in the super in the Hall of Fame. I don't care if we have to put an asterisk by it or just have a hall that just shows like Super Bowl starting quarterback.
Or whatever it is, but like I don't know, man. It's pretty impressive and it's hard to do. And being that third and quarterback, I don't know. No, I don't. I don't.
Uh-uh. I'm not. I mean, how many guys do you think it would eat just going back? Bro, I'm not trying to think.
Well, slow down, Justin. Listen, listen to me. It's okay. If Rex Grossman won a Super Bowl, we we supposed to and I know ifs and whats and buts, but if that man won a Super Bowl with the Chicago Bears, were we supposed to throw him into the Hall of Fame? Am I supposed to look at Trent Dilfer and go, oh my God, this is a guy that we need to throw in a Hall of Fame?
And so just because. You were on a damn squad. doesn't mean that you're the Hall of Fame is is is is It's it's what you've done in your career. It's not about what a team did for you in a singular season. You know, I mean, just because you won a Super Bowl doesn't mean we got to put you in Hall of Fame.
And I assume you're referring to what I said last hour about Russell Wilson. Is that correct?
Well, and and it made me think about it. I I've had the thought before and I I agree that there are guys Yeah. You know, and maybe football is a bad example when it comes to the Hall of Fame, but you know, in some sports, The the question I think is is valid whether or not more guys should be and aren't or are and shouldn't be, but I think you're right in the NFL they get it pretty right. Yeah, we just did this over the weekend with the NFL. I'm not the NFL, the NBA.
They just had their Hall of Fame. And we saw guys go in.
Okay, Carmelo Anthony. And it encapsulates these guys' entire careers. From college to international play to NBA. And so Carmelo Anthony don't got a damn champion. He's one of the most dynamic scorers the league has seen.
And bully ball out there, Carmelo Anthony goes in. Dwight Howard, a defensive player of the year and one of the most dominating big men, a guy I couldn't. Have an offensive move if he needed one, but he was a freak.
Okay, fine.
Now he goes in the Hall of Fame. They let a lot of guys into the basketball. Hall of Fame. But when it comes down to to football specifically, I think there's a little bit tougher of a line. I could think about guys.
You know, you mentioned quarterbacks. People will argue that Jim Plunkett. It's not in not in the hall. But do you take a look at the guy's entire career and say, okay, we're going to go ahead and put him in? I could think about somebody I know, haven't spoken to him in a while, a Simeon Rice.
You know, I've talked to Simeon a million times over the years. About him not being in a Hall of Fame. And his numbers as a defender match up with a lot of other guys. But he played in Tampa Bay. His name wasn't Michael Strahan in New York City.
So. There's a lot of guys, but Russell Wilson, man, he ain't no Hall of Famer. He's not.
Okay. I I think I agree with you, but I do appreciate you having the conversation with me, man. Sure, Justin. Thank you for calling from Green Bay. Appreciate you.
You take care. You as well. eight eight eight seven ten four I S N That's 888-710-4ISN. Bacha, you just can't be a Super Bowl quarterback.
Now we're going to put you in the Hall of Fame. You can't do that. Because there's got to be at least one or two instances where the quarterback had a horrible game. and the defense just stood on its head. It has to have happened.
And plus, it also has to be more than just a one-year thing for quarterbacks in the Hall of Fame. It's a career. And a player. Unless it's You can't even say that, because if a quarterback wins in his first year, It's not heard of. And then they're not going to retire.
You're not going to put somebody in. You need a certain amount of time and stats. And it's a career. It's a career. You've got to have a career.
Like Dan Marino. Come on. Dan Marino went once, never went again. Finished his career sitting at the top of just every. Quarterback statistical record, and it's just like, well, we know he's a Hall of Fame, he never won anything.
But he had an amazing career. 888-710-4ISN. Ed. He's calling from Baltimore. You're on the JR Sport Reef Show.
What's up, Ed? Hey, hey, JR. Uh I wanted to hear that for you. me and won me over. First of all, Hold on, Ed.
You you sound y is your phone okay? Yes, can you hear me okay? Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's just a little little scratchy. Go ahead.
Okay, uh that's probably my voice because, you know, uh Well, I guess you don't. But anyway, JR, honestly, man, I wanted to be a hater. I wanted to uh Um You came out with a list the other week. It's a Well, the morning you told me about you. Listen, I heard the trajectory, your experience, and then to find out.
You were born across the bridge where I'm from. You know, I'm from Joe Flacco country, and you still believe in my Baltimore Raven. But they are I will listen to you every night. in all of your list And uh they they the hate is going away. Oh, well thanks.
I'm glad you found time to hate someone you don't even know. Thank you, Ed. Thank you, Ed, for calling from Baltimore. There you have it. He's like, My voice is.
That's my voice. No, bro. That is your phone. Eight eight eight seven ten four I S N. That's 888-710-4ISN.
And Todd is here from Green Bay in Wisconsin. You're on the J.R. Sport Brief Show. What's up, Todd? Yes for eight.
JR, perfect timing. You've got a Chicago guy. Yeah. Ask him this, and I know there's been several, but I was the first last night. And Why did Ben Johnson not kick that ball out of bounds?
I mean, why did the why why don't they fire somebody on the special teams? to not tell the coach this.
Well, apparently, Ben Johnson was was asked that same exact question that you just asked me to ask Patrick Finley from the Chicago Sun Times. And Ben Johnson's response was, I did tell the kicker what to do. He didn't make it.
Okay, so so thirty five yards. versus forty or kick it long enough so that they're going to take a knee. They're never going to take a knee. They weren't weren't going to take any, even though the re Turner kind of looked at his coach and didn't know. That was another.
I don't understand these teams. that they don't know the rules, they don't know the situations, I mean, we're in twenty twenty five right now, JR. There need to be people In the ears. of the head coach. That's saying, this is what you need.
We've got AI, right? AI. If you put AI in the situation, they would have said, kick it out of bounds.
So they didn't he just cost the team. And it comes down to head toes. you know, he he thought he was going to get fifty seconds to play with.
Well, he didn't get 50 seconds. He got 9 seconds.
So his response was. The intent was for the ball to go out of the end zone. He then said. But It did. We felt if we kicked it out of the end zone, And got the three in out that we got.
We would get the ball back with about fifty-six seconds. Yes. And what's the difference between thirty five yard line and a forty? I mean, i and that's another thing about the NFL. When you change a rule to 35, then you need to change the out of bounds to 50, right?
Make it make sense, NFL. 35, 40, there's no difference. I would say to your kicker: if you want to be at the 35 and you don't have a strong enough leg, kick. Yeah. So Thanks for your time.
I appreciate it.
Well, thank you, Todd, for calling from Green Bay. is is gonna be growing things. And it's like he can't Can't necessarily. Go out there and kick for the guy. You can tell him what he wants to do.
Isn't that part of coaching? You could tell somebody what to do. You can give them everything that they need to know about what they need to know, and they can still go out there and screw things up. And so, what? Like, Ben Johnson was just going to be imperfect through all 17 games?
He's going to make more mistakes. And we got great coaches who make mistakes. Ain't nobody perfect out here. Who's perfect? Not me.
Well, they said that guy, yeah, 25, what year are we in? 2030, what year is this? 2025? And what's that one guy? Eight and eight.
Mm-hmm. That's 888-710-45. Four I S And Lupe is calling from Colorado Springs. You're on the JR Sport Reshow, Lupe from Colorado. What's up?
Hey, thank you for taking my call. I have a I want to know a what kind of feedback you have for me on this. You know, I was I was talking and, uh, You know, Dak Prescott has some good records as of today, right? But it If you look back to who he was playing against, the R the Washington, the Eagles, the Giants, Let's be honest, five, six years ago, they were not that good of a team.
So his records reflect that he's awesome. But then you Then he goes out and plays against another team, another division, and all of a sudden His records don't reflect that. I mean, Dan Marino kinda went through the same thing. It was pretty awesome, but every time he went up against another division and all of a sudden the records were not so good. I just want to know how you feel about that.
And thank you, Day off, for taking my call again. You're welcome, Lupe. Thank you for calling from Colorado. Bruh, I am not putting Dak Prescott and Dan Marino into the same spot at all.
Okay, we can take a look at Dan Marino and we can go, oh, he was out there playing with the marks and. And and throwing a ball to the marks, touchdown to mark, pick one. But at the end of the day, the teams weren't good. I don't think it was so much about the defense. It's just the teams which is meh.
that he was on. Dak Prescott, and I'm not going to put Dak down. Dak is a good quarterback. We haven't had or seen the success in the postseason. But it's hard playing in the NFL.
I know it's easy to go, oh, well, you just pick the bones of the teams and the bad divisions. Man, we got some bad quarterbacks out here. in bad divisions that can't beat anybody. And so you got to look a gift horse in the mouth. Going out there and playing football every single weekend.
It's not easy. I don't care who you're facing off against.
Okay, we got Bryce Young. This man has played here in the NFC South. He's taking on the Falcons. Our Falcons can't even hit a quarterback.
Okay, they can't hit nothing. Can't do nothin'. The saints have been meh. Bryce Young can't be good against this bad division? Come on now.
I'm not going to look at the division play. Either good or you not. You could beat a trash can or the trash can will beat you. You pick one. The JR Sport Brief Show on the Infinity Sports Network.
Hey, we got a lot of callers. You gotta wait a minute, okay? 888-710-4ISN, because we're going to take a break. You know somebody just asked about Ben Johnson and his coaching debut. Was asked about Caleb Williams.
We're gonna have a conversation with Patrick Finley. From the Chicago Sun-Times. He's going to join us on the other side of the break. I'll get back to more of your calls. We'll hear from Deion Sanders about his quarterback situation.
He's always entertaining. We got a lot to do. The JR Sport Re Show, coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. Listen up, football fans. You won't want to miss this.

Because last night, well, not for the Chicago Bears fans, but we saw the The bears blow a lead. Against the Minnesota Vikings, giving up twenty-one unanswered points. People are looking at Caleb Williams, going, Hey, where are you progressing? People are taking a look at Ben Johnson and going, Hey, we get it your first game, but this is the same old stuff. Joining us right now.
To talk about the Bears and I don't know, maybe put out some fires or bring some awareness to what's going on with this team. Joining us right now is someone who covers the squad for the Chicago Sun-Times. It's Patrick Finley. Patrick, how are you? I'm good.
How about you? I'm excellent, man.
Well, I think I know the answer to this. Are people in Chicago mad as hell? Or are they just like, ah, it's week one? Both? Is that a real answer?
In general, the people in Chicago are mad as hell because it's been 105 years since the franchise was founded. And their best ever quarterback, I think, retired in 1950-something.
So, in general, They want a quarterback and they wanted one yesterday. I do hope that they are rational enough to understand. that this Ben Johnson Caleb Williams pairing is going to take months. to look the way everybody wants it to look if they're lucky. You know, if the Bears know by the end of this season, Whether Caleb and Ben Are they pairing for the next decade?
If they find that out in November or December, I think they'd be thrilled. And so until you get there, you're going to have to look for signs of growth. And you're also going to have to see the signs of regression when they slap you in the face. And I think last night we saw a little bit of both.
Well, Patrick, yeah, we saw the ups and downs last year for Caleb and the amount of sacks and running behind the line of scrimmage. And yesterday is a very, very small sample size. And we know he was drafted selected number one overall. He's going to get the entire year with his brand new head coach. But if there's not any progression, is it a guarantee?
Well, nothing's a guarantee, but wait. Is it a guarantee that he's going to be the starter next season and this is just the Petri dish of a year? Yeah, I think it's probably a guarantee that he's your guy, at least going into next season. Remember, the bears can give him a contract extension after year three.
So, you know, you need to know by then at the very, very latest. And because if he's not the guy, then you need to go do something else. And let's face it, if he's not the guy, they're going to be drafting pretty high two years from now.
So they would have a decision to make. I think that's putting the cart before the horse. I think that you're right. He was the third most sacked quarterback in the history of the NFL. Last year, and there were times last night where watching him run for his life kind of reminded you of that.
But you know, the Bears believe that that talent is there, and you know, it just needs to sync up with the offense that Ben wants to run. Patrick Finley is here with us from the Chicago Sun-Times. We know, and we had a caller right before you joined us who asked about. you know, the kicker and not getting the ball out of bounds at the end of the game. Like these this is all part of good coach, bad coach, of first game, last game.
These things are gonna happen, no? You'd hope that they don't happen that much, but you know, and I just got done writing this for today. It was a reminder last night that Ben Johnson is a rookie too. In the history of the Bears franchise. They have hired one guy who has been an NFL head coach before.
Yeah. And that was John Fox. And that didn't go particularly well, if you'll remember.
So we are used to watching these first-time head coaches who only have experience as coordinators learn on the job. We've been through this before and we saw it again last night. Did Caleb make mistakes? Yes. Did the Bears' defense allow J.J.
McCarthy to go from a passer rating in the 20s in the third quarter to a passer rating in the 150s in the fourth? Yes. Did the Bears special team screw up by missing a field goal that Cairo Santos absolutely needs to make and then not putting the ball out of the end zone? Yes. There's a lot of failure to go around.
And it's trite, but the head coach is at the middle or in the center of all of that. And he said today: if I were to do it all over again, I probably would have just had him kick the ball out of bounds. But that's I mean that's awkward too. And n now you're asking a kicker to do something he's never really done in his life and boot the ball out at the twenty or whatever. I think Cairo just needs to hit the ball better next time, for lack of an overly simplistic answer though.
Right. All the elements that you mentioned, especially if I have to go back to last year with the Saks and the. The line What are your thoughts on this offensive line for Caleb Williams? They've added Joe Tooney, who now at least gets to move back inside as he had to play tackle last year for the Chiefs. You got Braxton Jones.
How can they help keep Caleb Williams upright? How big of a concern is the line? They spent a lot of money trying to fix this line in the offseason. They went and they got Drew Dahlman, who was the number one center free agent on the market. They traded for Jonah Jackson and Joe Tooney, kind of, you know, all within a week.
Of each other. And they did that to solidify the center of the line. You know, something people don't talk about enough with Caleb. That Caleb's not tall. You know, Caleb's 6'1 and he ain't getting any bigger.
And if you believe in the old Drew Brees theory, that When you have a smaller quarterback protecting on the interior is of utmost importance, then the Bears, I think, accomplished that. Braxton Jones is a different question. He's been their starter at left tackle for the last three years. They drafted Ozzie Travilla in the second round, hoping that Ozzie could beat him out in training camp. And he could.
And they waited until the very, very end of training camp before Ben Johnson said, Yeah, you know, I, you know, I guess we'll go with Braxton as the starter.
So he is a giant question mark there. And, you know, we'll see how it turns out. They helped him a lot. Last night. They brought in Theo Bennett, the backup tackle, as kind of the tackle eligible.
And they used their own tight ends and running backs to chip on that side.
So that's going to be an ongoing issue: how do you help Braxton Jones? But on the interior of that line, Lord knows they've thrown enough money at this thing that it better be fixed. They better hope so. Patrick Finley joining us from the Chicago Sun-Times. We know a lot of people in Chicago are not happy with the results last night, no reason.
But is there anything? Positive that you took away from the game last night. The defense looked pretty good. The Bears were playing without their best player, who is Jalen Johnson, the two-time Pro Bowl corner. Kyler Gordon, who I think is one of their absolute best players, is the slot corner, and he didn't play either.
Both had an injury. And TJ Edwards, their linebacker who they gave a big extension to this offseason, he sat out.
So to go out there against the Vikings, even though there is a first-time quarterback under center for them, to go out there without three of your defensive starters and to play as well as they did for three quarters, I think is encouraging. I think that the Bears got pressure in a way that they struggled to last year at times. That's encouraging. And I think finding a way to get DJ more. And Roma do you say the ball.
was Encouraging to a point. They didn't do a good enough job. Actually, making accurate throws for me to feel great about it. But you can see what this Ben Johnson offense looks like. And one thing that's going to be so different than the Matt Eberflus era when he was here is that I think Ben's game plan and his personnel usage and what he wants to do is gonna vary wildly.
from week to week. Not just a little bit, but I think there are going to be weeks when they run it all the time. There are going to be weeks when they throw it all the time. There are going to be weeks where, you know, their first round pick, the tight end, Colston Loveland, is super involved. There's going to be other weeks when Luther Burton, the second round pick, is more involved.
That's how Ben wants to view things. And so I wouldn't make any grand characterizations of this offense off of one day because I think it is going to look different from week to week. And that's something I feel more comfortable doing probably six, seven, eight weeks into the season.
Well, Patrick, it was disappointing for the team last year when they only got five victories. Even rookie quarterback, they got five victories. What is the expectation for this season? We know the NFC North is.
Well, let's just say it's it's it's not in any softer. And I think it's the best division in football. Last year, record-wise, it was the best division in the history of football. And all they did was add Micah Parsons to the division this offseason.
So it's going to be tough sledding. I think that they're going to go nine and eight. And I would make an argument to you that if they were eight and nine or nine and eight, and in the second half of the season, you saw an offense getting better every week and you saw an offense that you can build around for the next two, three, four, five years. I think that's a tremendous success. And that's what last year should have been.
We went into last season with Caleb Williams, the number one pick, and Roma Junze, the number nine. And the whole idea was: hey, if by the end of the year, this thing's looking good. Kind of, you know, it doesn't really matter what the record is. That doesn't mean people expected five wins, but I think people expected seven or eight. You know, this year, if they can do that.
And if you can go into free agency, trying to find more of Ben Johnson's kind of guys to put around Caleb Williams, who you've decided is the answer, hopefully, by the end of the season, I think that's a big win for them. To expect them to go win the NFC North is Foolish. I think even to expect them to try to finish second is probably silly.
Okay. Well, listen, I appreciate the positivity, Patrick, because last night didn't look all that good.
So thank you for that. A separate question here. Are we going to get a stadium downtown, or is that completely done? I got to drive to Arlington Heights now. You got to drive to Arlington Heights, I think, is the answer.
And the Bears still don't have a stadium deal. Looking at it now, I think the earliest that they could get legislation passed to negotiate a property tax deal is probably this spring.
So we're going to be in limbo here at least for another six months. They put out a letter to season ticket holders yesterday saying, hey, we're going to move to Arlington Heights. And that's nothing new. That's something they've been saying for months. And they just put it in the letter because they happen to have ESPN in town broadcasting Monday Night Football.
So we'll see whether it works out. It's the classic. Chicago story, if you've ever lived here, where everybody pays too much in property taxes and everybody goes to find a lawyer to fight it. And the Bears are doing that writ large with this stadium that they want to build in the Northwest suburbs. And Patrick, I'm not driving from, if I'm staying in town, I'm not driving up there.
I'm not doing that.
Well, yeah, nor should you stay in Arlington Heights if you come out for a game. Correct. That's no fun. You know, they're going to need to work out some public transportation options there that make sense for people. And, you know, right now there's kind of one train that's got to stop there.
They got to do better. They got to do better than that because it's one thing to take the Chicago out of the Chicago Bears. It's another thing to make entire swaths of the Chicagoland area have to really work hard to get there. And I think it's an obligation of the team. If you're going to move that stadium, I think the team is obligated to its fans to.
give it a rationally reasonably easy way. to get all the way up to that statement. Patrick, last question for you.
Sorry for the stadium question. I love stadiums. What the heck are they going to do with Soldier Field? Oh man, you know, Selter Field wasn't the home of the Bears until the 70s. They actually played at Wrigley.
Before that, so I would argue that it's probably going to revert to what it was before, which was random college games, high school games, and stuff like that. The Chicago Fire of the MLS played there, but they want to build their own stadium.
So, we shall see. You know, it wouldn't surprise me if five years from now the Bears are still playing their games at Soldier Field, just because, number one, these things take a while. And number two, I think we're on year three of this, and there doesn't seem to be as much traction as the team would have hoped. Bears have been looking for a quarterback forever. Hopefully, they don't have to look for a stadium to be built.

Hey, thank you so much to Patrick Finley for joining us from the Chicago Sun-Times. to talk about The Bears And he had some positivity. Not the negativity that we saw last night as they just let the Vikings and. JJ McCarthy run through them, over them and around them. and blowing that big ol' lead and taking a big ol' L.
Patrick believes if on the high end that this is a team that Could potentially win nine games. He says, don't expect them to go out here and to compete to win the NFC North. Don't expect that. That'll belong to, I don't know, maybe the Packers or the Lions or something like that. But he says, hey, if you can have progress with the first year head coach and Ben Johnson, If you can have some progress.
with a second year quarterback and Caleb Williams who had to play with that Well, play four Eberflues last year. Yeah, nine wins over the five you had last season would be a good progress.
So if you missed that chat, you're a Bears fan, go ahead and hit rewind. On the free Odyssey app, and listen to that conversation with Patrick Finley from the Chicago Sun-Times. We also had a great chat. Last hour. With NFL Network senior national reporter Steve Weitz.

Now that we got weak numero uno, In the books. We got more football in two days. Week two gets underway with the commanders. And the Green Bay Packers, who I just mentioned. out here balling out in the NFC North.
888-710-4ISN is the number. That's 888-710-4ISN. I'm going to get to your phone calls. We hear what Deion Sanders had to say about his quarterback situation. He is not happy with some of the rumors.
that have been bandied about. But they're they're rumors, so what the heck do you want? Let's get to the phone lines. and start off by talking to West. From Buffalo.
You on the JR Sport Breeze show West, what's that? Hey, JR. Thank you for taking my call, sir. I really appreciate it. Sure.
I like this is my first time calling. I love what you do. You're very good at your craft. And uh It's good great listening to your show, my sports brother.
Well, thank you. What's going on?
Well, you know, I I started from the beginning. When when you first started the show tonight, one of your early colleagues brought up the Hall of Fame. And I'm I'm sitting here in Buffalo and I'm thinking, you know, we all think that Steve Tasker belongs in the Hall of Fame now. We know a lot not a lot of special teamers get in. You know, but Decades later, JI, they're still talking about how he's one of the best ever and um I'm just looking for your opinion uh Do you think that Steve Tasker should be in the Hall of Fame Um or if he'll get there.
That's tough. I don't, you know what? I don't, I don't know. I don't think he's going to get in. You know, based on all this time, all these years, all these years later.
I mean, it's it's one of the main reasons. Who the heck is is is looking at a gunner, who's looking at a special teams guy? Like he's in, he's in rarefied air. Like, how about this? There was a guy that built Belichick.
I can't even think of his name off the top of my head. And I think he just. Yes, Slater, yeah. You see, you remember his name. I had to think about it.
Belichick kissed his ass forever. Is he going into the Hall of Fame? The answer is hell to the no. It's difficult. Right.
Well, Cascara will always be a legend around here.
So Well Buffalo has a lot of legends, but unfortunately for a lot of people in Buffalo. Do the legends come with championships and titles? No, they don't.
Okay, sir.
So let me move on to my next topic. Speaking about legends, We have Josh Shallon and I want your take on that game Sunday night now. I I was listening to one of the morning shows and this guy, you know, he had his purple Ravens coat on, his glasses all askew. And he's saying, you know. The Ravens are the best team in the NFL, and the only team that can beat the Ravens are the Ravens.
And Oh that. I felt it was a slight To the Bills and Josh Allen, because what he did in the fourth quarter of that game, I mean, he actually broke NFL records. Wow. Nobody knows nothing, okay? We know the buff we know the Buffalo Bills.
And the Baltimore Ravens are the two best teams. I don't know if I'd even throw the Chiefs in there today, I would not. They're the two best teams in the AFC.
So here we are, Wednesday, or today's not Wednesday, not yet. It's Tuesday, September 9th, 2025. I could hit the fast forward button and go to January. We could be sitting at an AFC championship game. with a toss up.
Another one. Between Baltimore In Buffalo in an AFC championship game.
So I'm not putting stock into anybody, what anybody has to say. You got to be blonde or stupid to not realize that the Buffalo Bills and Ravens are the two best teams. They probably have the two best chances to go to the Super Bowl. From the AFC. And we just gotta see how the season plays out and pray to God that nobody gets hurt.
I mean, outside of that. You got two MVPs. You can't ask for anything else. Nobody, no. People are just, people just yell and scream and say stuff.
Okay, Matt. Oh, West, that's how great that game was, though, right? I mean. Wow. We're going to be And it's game one, we're going to be due for more sooner than later, huh?
Yeah. I would rather have Josh Allen as my leading my franchise than any other quarterback in the league. I think he's the best he's the best football player in the NFL. And he proved it Sunday night. That's my take.
Thank you for taking my call, sir. Absolutely. Thank you, Wes, for calling from Buffalo. I would still take Patrick Mahomes. I would.
Hasn't changed all the years I've seen from Mahomes. I just think a lot of the roster around him has changed. I was still taking my homes. 888-710-4ISN. 888-710-4ISN.
Edwin, he's calling from Maryland. You're on the JR Sport Brief Show. Hey, JR. Hey, what's up? Heal to the Redskins first and foremost.
I'll have two takes. one on the guy who called uh uh talk about the Hall of Fame and what a suitable should do for a I guess a prospect or quarterbacks Prospects of being in the Hall of Fame. And then, two, about the game on the Sunday night game between the Ravens. We got limited time, Edwin, so go ahead. I'll get right to it, right to it.
First of all, I think for for the game the the Sunday night football game, I think By giving up 40 points like that, both teams, if anything, prove that they're really not ready to win the Super Bowl. It was a great game, as I'm saying, but it was kind of unstable. Edwin. Edwin. Yo, come on now.
It's my special one. Yo, hold on. Wait, Edwin. What the first thing you said is so crazy. It's September.
It's September. It's September. They're not playing in the Super Bowl. We got to go through September, October, November, December, and January.
Okay, so what's your second point? Yeah. I feel that people overrate the the winning of a Super Bowl in the in what makes a quarterback a Hall of Fame worthy or not. Honestly, to me, if you have to mention that a quarterback won a Super Bowl in the first sentence of why it should be a Hall of Famer or that's like a meet the meat of the argument, You're going to Hall of Famer. There are many people who've had great you know, and then I feel like it leaves out people who are great quarterbacks.
But they just happen to not be on great teams for a lot of their careers. A Super Bowl is a team accomplishment. And many people do win Super Bowls. as quarterbacks and weren't stellar in the game or weren't even stellar quarterbacks for their careers. It does happen, you know.
Correct. So, yeah, it does happen. I ag I I agree with you, Ed. Thank you so much for calling from Marilyn. You you redeemed yourself from that first point, which is like, Yeah, yeah, we know the Super Bowl is uh Not tomorrow.
Hey, thank you. I'd appreciate you, man. D C for the Super Bowl. Let's go. All right.
Thank you, Edwin. Listen. We've had a lot of people.
Well, here's what we know. The Super Bowl, winning the Super Bowl. is a team accomplishment. We know that. But on most teams, most of the times, outside of just going out there and having a dominant defense, a la the Bears or a la the Ravens.
Most times you're going to have a starting quarterback who's the tip of the spear. I always put quarterbacks in three categories. You have a few quarterbacks who you are deathly afraid of. You don't want them having a ball at the end of a game because they can and will beat you. Guys like Patrick Mahomes, guys who lead comebacks like a Peyton Manning or a Tom Brady, a Joe Montana.
These are guys who you don't want to have the ball. At the end of a game. You got another set of quarterbacks who are dudes who are closer to the middle.
Sometimes they'll win you a game.
Sometimes they'll lose you a game. And then you have the third set of guys. Guys who get the football snapped to them. And you just know and understand. They're gonna throw the ball.
to the wrong damned guy. at the wrong damn time. And there's never a time to throw the ball to the wrong team. Those are my three categories of QBs. And it's very few guys.
Who's sitting at that top third?
Okay, that that first bucket. of guys who you are deathly afraid of. And it's not a lot of those dudes, okay? The JR Sport Brief Show here on the Infinity Sports Network. 888-710-4ISN is the number.
That's 888-710-4. For ISN. We got so much more to do in the last hour of the show. Of course, we'll talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history. I'll get some more of your calls 888-710-4ISN.
