He'll be by here in 20 minutes to talk about this. this Clipper situation. Could this be another death now? To the Los Angeles Clippers. And this was supposed to be their good guy owner.
Comin' off of that bum, Donald Sterling. Anyway. If you want to be a part of the show, you can. 888-710-4ISN is the number. That's 888-710-4ISSN.
For I S N. You can find me online. I exist everywhere at JR sport brief. Had a hell of a show. We got Saquon Barkley on the field right now.
Showing love to his kids, Guys getting ready to Play some football. I can't believe here we are All the fancy stuff Botch, are you you ready, Botch? I know you in the studio. Are you ready? Yes, uh for if for as locked in as I could be during the show, I am ready.
This is this is like an entire change. For it it is amazing. It it really when you think about it How the NFL just changes the the entire It's America. The NFL is as much of a part of America as anything else. It belongs to this country, and Other parts of the world don't have an interest in the NFL the way that we do.
I guess we're we're so isolated this way. We know the rest of the world is interested in the other football. And it just dictates when I say it, the NFL dictates. What people do. in their calendar year When you go on vacation, What you do with your family.
We got church and faith services all over the country that are dictated on NFL games. What families do, what they don't, when people travel, the business of the NFL is huge. Twenty billion dollars business here in the United States of America. And I'm like mad. between now and February, They're gonna be games on all the damn time.
We got games going on and In different countries now, as the NFL tries to carve out even more market share all over the world. It is just crazy. I'm like, okay, every Sunday. Everybody knows what they're going to do. You know, people will watch football on Sunday.
go back to work, go back to school on Monday, get football on Monday night, get football on Thursday, get football on the holidays? And I fell as back. Eight eight eight seven ten four I S N eight eight eight seven ten. 4ISN. Ralph is here from North Carolina.
He just tried to call us in the last break. I hope his phone works this time. Hey, Ralph, you're on the JR Sport Brief Show. What's up? Can you hear me better than I do?
I hear you much better. What's up, Ralph? I'm doing great, Jared. Thanks for having me on your show. I haven't spoken to you in a while.
But when I've been thinking about your what you've basically been saying about Jared Jones, I felt like to me he has not been upfront with anybody. He's just trying to give everybody an explanation based on the GM's perspective, and I don't think that's what we want to hear. And I just think basically right now I feel like he just got too much too many hats. high contract and his team and he's just trying to cut down. on having too many higher contracts and that's what you need to tell anybody.
And he's looking to build for future where he could build more sustainable team where he could add more position where he could p put more money on the team. That's what he's not really telling. But I think that's just the beating around the bushes.
Well, I don't think that Jerry Jones is not being honest. I think there's two things. I think one, And I I I don't even think this, I know this for a fact a fact He's egotistical. and I think at the same time he would never admit And maybe he'll do it on his deathbed. It'll be years down the line.
We saw it took him years to go, you know what? I probably messed things up with Jimmy Johnson. I he he's not gonna admit that he's wrong. I think maybe deep down, I think he's just saying what he needs to say publicly. You're right, he's not being honest.
I don't think it's so much about the contracts, but He could have got this is my thing. He could have got a contract done. with Micah Parsons last year. The Dallas Cowboys could have avoided every single moment. of this offseason if they paid him last year.
And when you think about everybody else getting a deal, did Dak need to get 60? You know, I mean, you could have saved another five to ten per year if you would have got Micah last year. But he's not gonna admit that. You know, a narcissist. We'll just stand on one hill and die on it, And never change.
And I think Jerry Jones is in that space. He made his bed. He's going to lie down in it. And he's never gonna tell anybody anything different, Ralph. I understand, Jack, but I'm looking towards the NFL Sunday season this year.
I know my dolphin's gonna suck and I totally agree with you. It's gonna be I feel like to me it's gonna be the Bills and Raven. I feel like the Chiefs are gonna take a little step back this year. Because I feel like they have too many problems right now and a little distraction at the moment, also, too. Yeah, a little bit.
Well, no. We we we heard from uh C De Lamb about the the distraction. And and maybe they can finally push all this to the side. And play some football in about 15 minutes, so we'll see what happens. Ralph, a pleasure, man.
Good talking to you again, okay? It's a TR. No doubt shout outs to Ralph for calling from north. Cara. Lina.
You know, this is this might be a good thing for the Dallas Cowboys to finally Get things started to actually go out there and play football and not discuss. Micah Parsons. I want you to hear right now from their head coach Brian Schottenheimer. because earlier Brian Stottenheimer said You know, I don't want my team to feel tense. I don't want the Dallas Cowboys to be wound up.
Listen to what he said. What I don't want these guys to do, and I think the coaches are a big part of this, is go in there and try so hard. Oh, we're playing the Eagles. I'm going to do so hard. I'm going to.
They're going to make mistakes if they do that. Play free. It's football. Fly around. Love being around with your brothers, man.
Just run to the football. Celebrate. Have fun. Yeah, I mean, there's nothing better than going out there and hitting people, right? That's a lot of fun.
Well, nobody expects you guys to do anything, Bryant. A lot of people are expecting you guys to lose tonight, me included. A lot of people are expecting you to just be okay throughout the season. I'm definitely included in that. What do you think about all the expectations ahead of you?
How confident are you? are the guys you still have in that cowboys' locker room. It's going to be pretty consistent throughout the course of the deal. We're guaranteed 17 of these. This is the first one of that.
I think our guys will play well. Um but uh again, that's that's kind of going to be my message most weeks. Oh, sounds like they're having fun to me writing, I guess. Not going to be fun for the Dallas Cowboys. There's gonna be more Jerry Jones and more explaining and more complaining and whining, and the Cowboys they'll be okay.
I think they have an opportunity, a chance to be a wild card team. I think that's their ceiling. I'm not putting them past anything. you know beyond that Botcher, what do you what is your outlook on the Dallas Cowboys for this season? At their best, They will sneak into the wild card to me.
Just, I don't think any roster stacks up to the Eagles. But for every person that's saying this is a bad football team now, I don't really see it. They have Should be An above-average offense, despite the offensive line. And then look at the defense, they still have playmakers at every position. It's just Coaching one, and then two.
Can Dak Prescott stay healthy? And true true von Diggs. Yeah, well, we've seen. Diggs is back. We'll see if he stays healthy.
Deron Blanche has got paid. Dak's legs are always failing him. We know he's not running around as much as he used to. And if he's healthy, yeah, he's one of the best passers, especially the deep ball in the NFL. I'm glad that Brian Schottenheimer at least has a positive outlook right now.
Because whenever his tenure ends, whenever it will be done with the Dallas Cowboys, He's just going to get chewed down. throughout the course of his tenure. It's like Jerry Jones intentionally wears on all his plays.
So I'm glad he's having fun right now. Let's see how much fun he has in another, let's see, three hours, okay? Because if this doesn't end well. tonight for the Dallas Cowboys. Welcome to the circus, Brian Schottenheimer.
Things have been rather quiet with all the mica news, but tonight really might be his uh his full. Introduction. Speaking of having fun, The game that we have tomorrow. down in Brazil. You got the Kansas City Chiefs, you have the Chargers, they're in Sao Paulo.
This game seems like it's going kinda under the radar. I guess everybody's so used to the NFL going international. It's like the Chiefs have made it very clear. We're putting last year in the rear view mirror, similar to the Eagles, except for the Chiefs are the ones that lost, and they're focused on this season. But there's so many question marks.
Rashi Rice, he's going to be suspended here to start this season for six games for driving like a complete idiot. Down in Dallas, Texas. Xavier Worthy, you expect him to hopefully take a massive step forward. Maybe he could be that game-breaking wide receiver out of Texas, everybody thought he'd be. And then you got the old man, Travis Kelsey.
that is now engaged You expect him, I would say, to quit at the end of the season. Who knows what takes place? Right now, it appears that the Chiefs are. Ready to have fun? Tomorrow?
What? Patrick Mahomes says being in Brazil and playing is fun. I think it's fun. Obviously, we want to take American football worldwide, and you can see the fan base in Brazil. And so we're getting to bring the game that we love to them.
And so I'm super excited to get out there and play in front of the fans. They look pumped. It's going to be a great environment. And that's what we want to do when we play this profession, is play in front of fans that want to see football, and that's what we're getting the opportunity to do. Oh, like Patrick Mahomes, he's just he has the art of saying nothing.
Down to a T. Let me keep it easy. Let me keep it even. I'm not getting involved. I'll let my brother do the dumb things.
I'll let my dad do the dumb things. Patrick Mahomes is the guy that keeps it. Even. Level. The guy who doesn't is Travis Kelsey, the man married to uh Well Engaged, excuse me, let me not jump the gun.
to Taylor Swift. Travis Kelsey having some fun with the media. He was asked about being engaged and whether or not he's going to quit after this year. I know he didn't give an answer. Listen to this.
Exactly. I uh I got one more ring from it. Um I would say Well, two if we're counting the first Super Bowl. I would say, you know, I've. Ever since I've been dating Taylor's, life has been fun.
You know, it's been exciting. Obviously, a lot more eyes, and I accept that, but it's just. It's uh I'm I'm living living life, you know. Living on a high idea. Yeah.
Is this a last dance? For a For who? For me, man, it's the last one on the contract right now, but I'll tell you what, I'm feeling young and I'm feeling ready to rock, baby. I mean, look how loose that shirt is, man. That's great.
Oh, God. Man, this thing was a little tighter last year. Oh, no, you see, he admitted he was fat last year. I told these fat can't call a guy. Vocha, is that inappropriate now?
Everybody's so sensitive.
Well it depends if it's actually true. And these guys are also professional athletes too, so it's like if they go from like in shape one year to completely different the other day, kind of like Pablo Sandoval. That was a big transformation.
Well yeah, the the guy was what they call him, the Kung Fu Panda? Kung Fu Panda. Yeah. I remember years ago I did a top six list on YouTube, It was the top six fattest athletes. I think when I did it, Pablo Sandoval might have actually been on the list.
That was how long ago it was. Yeah, we've had some fat athletes. You see, you can't call Zion fat. And Zion be offended. I mean, he is.
Sometimes you just you just gotta be honest. Speaking of honesty, put all the jokes and games aside. Chris Jones He had a message for the team this year. Listen to what he said. You gotta understand in life, you're not gonna win all the time, and in life you're gonna face adversity.
But it's about the journey. It's about the journey of getting back up. When people climb a mountain, right, they don't climb it to stay up there. They climb it to say they got there and they go back down, right? And they'll do it again the next year.
And that's how life is. You climb that mountaintop, you're not gonna stay there all the time.
Sometimes you're gonna get knocked back down. But the journey of it is climbing again. Climate again, you're going to face harsh conditions, the weather might not be right, you might lose your breath. You might get knocked down, but it's more so about the response. And I think Training count.
Everyone came in with the right mentality. The right energy, and we know what's ahead of us. Last year we didn't We didn't just seal the deal. We got there, but we didn't seal it. And I think we all went in heavy on our shoulders.
But last year is behind us. We got the Chargers tomorrow. And we're ready.
Well let's see how the Chiefs bounce back after a disappointing, ugly loss. in the Super Bowl. We gotta wait tomorrow for that. We're minutes away from the start of the NFL kickoff game. The Eagles and Cowboys are making their way onto the football field for the opening.
Kick.
Okay, of course, we'll keep you up to date. Once this game gets started on what things look Like. It's the JR Sport Re Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. We're going to take a break, of course, we're going to talk some more NFL, but we got to dive a little deeper into the situation. With Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers.
We're going to have a conversation with Law Murray, who covers all things Clippers for the Athletic. You're locked in to the JR Sport Reef Show, Coast to Coast, on the Infinity Sports Network. You open the fridge. There's nothing there.

Well It might be minutes away from getting under way. But the NBA? What off season do they have? I mean, we're weeks away from training camp, or little more than a month away from the start of the regular season, and we got scandals already. The Clippers are back in the news.
Thank God it's nothing like Donald Sterling, but and this could be devastating. I'm referring to this uh cap circumvention, the alleged CAP circumvention, By the Clippers to get Kawhi Leonard some extra dough. To break down what took place and what news came out from Pablo Torrey, what this might mean for the Clippers moving forward as someone who covers all things Clippers for the athletic. Joining us right now is Law Murray. Law, good to have you back, man.
Yeah, thanks for having me, man. Absolutely. When you think about the Clippers, of course, there was a lot said about Kawhi Leonard joining the team in 2019 and the investigation into his Uncle Dennis and what they were asking for in free agency. Are you surprised about the news and the report that came out yesterday from Pablo? I'm surprised.
But I'm surprised it didn't like last that long, 'cause we've been here before. We've been here before. In multiple different directions here, you know, like Steve Bomber independent of Kawhi, Kawhi, independent of the Clippers.
So I mean It's surprising because you go through especially the offseason the covers had basketball operations wise, this was a really good offseason for them. And you're thinking, damn, they're going to get through this. And the only slander is the fact that the OKC Thunder are the defending champions. You know how this whole thing with Kawhi started, right? And it's like, nah.
Here we are again with another scandal.
So You know, it it's like surprising, but I was able to take a deep breath and be like, Yeah, you know. Familiarity, other than your both.
So the response that we got from the Clippers is, our owner is a co-founder of Microsoft, why would he do something so dumb? What are you thinking about what the Clippers say that this was just some Scheme from a sponsor that defrauded them, even though he was one of the investors into the company. It all sounds fishy. Yeah, I mean from the Clippers point of view, they're going to put all the liability that they tend On aspiration. This is a company that they were excited about.
Well, they were breaking ground on Into a Dome in 2021. I actually remember Media Day and... Sitting across with Steve Ballmer and the co-founder of Aspiration. Joe Sandberg. And that was a big deal.
It was a presence on their social media for two years. But then it disappeared. This is the first time I've been, you know, aspiration has been something I've had to think about. Uh since twenty twenty three when they were tweeting every over a month or whatever. Hey.
Every time the Clippers make threes, we're going to plant trees, you know? Like that was a real thing.
So, of course, the Clippers, from their point of view, they're going to say, all the liability, all the issues here. Aspiration was working independently. That's where the Clippers are going to try and focus is what's going to be. The interest of the MBA is how much they can basically say. Aspiration was only doing things at the discretion of the Cliffers.
That's going to be, that's the conflict now, and that's what the NBA is going to have to sort out. Law Murray is joining us from the Athletic. Knowing that the the season oh a little more than a month away from the start of it this is not going to have any implications on the Clippers this upcoming season. They'll be able to to play basketball and any controversy will be about their ages, right? I don't think that's true.
I don't think that's true at all. I think the NBA has every incentive to This is a lot that they have to sort through as far as their investigation. Why? being that it's the first week of September and being that camps will be underway in four weeks and being that the regular season will be underway by the middle of by the end of October, They're going to want to move quickly here. Because they're going to want to dole out.
potential penalties. And one of the penalties that could be on the table here. is if they need to void the contract of Kawhi Leonard. And obviously That has a serious Ramifications on the fortunes on the floor for the LA Clippers. Also, If this affects the front office, then that sends things into disarray as well.
So there are going to be things that we have to see how things get assessed. uh as far as the penalties and consequences and you know until it's ruled out you have to consider that one of the possibilities will include something that affects the status of Kawhi Learn.
Well l well, Law, at at what point Investigation. I mean, you think about college athletics, the NCAA will investigate things for four years before we get a punishment. How long do you think it'll take before the NBA closes things down with the Clippers? This is gonna take months, probably, right? No?
I I think m months here's the thing the NBA. The NBA has a history of dragging things on as far as certain investigations. But There are other things where it they don't have to take that long. You know what I mean? I would say this is going to be measured in weeks.
So, yeah, I don't expect a resolution next week, but I don't want to compare this to. other investigations. This is something that I think they're going to have a high level of urgency on them. But I would also expect them to have a Making sure that they assess the damages swiftly and come to a conclusion as swiftly as they can. Law Murray is here with us covers the Clippers for the Athletic.
We've seen in the past what took place with Joe Smith. You know, taking away draft picks, you think about the fine, and that was like 25 years ago. I mean, if you move the numbers up for inflation, and I know the Clippers don't necessarily have draft picks, but how do you punish a team? How do you punish a guy? Who's one of the wealthiest dudes on earth, a co-founder of Microsoft?
You're not going to make him sell the team. That ain't happening, right? Nah, I I don't think that there's going to be a case where they get Steve Ballmer is not at that risk of getting him out the league. Like, if you want to look at 25 years ago. Here's what happened.
Glenn Taylor was the owner of the Minnesota Timberwolves, and Glenn Taylor wound up getting suspended for a year. The symbols were finded it Three and a half million dollars, I believe.
So, you can again adjust and say how much that would be for 2025. They were docked five draft picks initially, and ultimately, they got two of those draft picks back on appeal. Um as you know The Clippers don't exactly have a wealth of draft picks.
So, I mean, there would be a bad look if Steve Barmer couldn't be around when Intuit Dome is literally hosting All-Star Weekend, the biggest weekend. The NBA has outside of anything involving the NBA finals, you know, that would be a bad look. But fines and suspensions and loss of draft picks. That they won't hurt the Clippers that much. Even if you take Kawhi away.
Again, not a laughing matter, but everyone's going to point out the fact that Part of the Clippers' experience with Kawhi is Kawhi not playing games.
So I'm interested to see exactly what the NBA is going to do. You know, send a message or make an example out of the clippers, exactly. How are they going to do that? You know, but I don't think that this E-Bomber's at risk of losing the team. Like, the NBA ain't going to want that.
That's for sure.
Well, if we look at the team that's on the basketball court, you just mentioned Kawhi and the The fact that he's not always on the court. You got James Harden, who's been durable, but how long is that going to last? He ain't going to last forever. You got Nick Batoon. You got Zubach, he's young at the center position.
What are you expecting? You got Bradley Beal. What can this team do if it's just about the basketball?
Well, if it's just about the basketball The Clippers are a good team that They objectively got better. They. Retained a lot of good players. They added older players in Brooke Lopez and Chris Paul, but Those guys were starters last year. And in Lopez's case, a starter for A playoff team.
They are now backing up the two. Stalwarts as far as availability last year. in James Harden and Evin's Dubats respectively. Uh they're they're deeper. Uh I would say they're better.
I don't think Bradley Beale is an upgrade on Norman Powell, but when you consider that Norman Powell's contract was used to get John Collins, and gives the Clippers a player that they didn't have on their roster last year. Athletic size at that position, I think that's a big deal. And so, They are going to be a factor in the West. Do I think they are a contender? No.
mainly because their two best players are Really good regular season players are James Harden and Kawhi Leonard, but both of those guys. Have not really shown that they can lead a team to multiple playoff series wins in a year. this decade. And that is the thing that you're going to have to You're gonna have to see. It's like, all right, who's gonna be the guys that help those guys?
Because in the playoffs last year, The Denver Nuggets, not a good defense, probably the worst defense of any team that made the playoffs. They were able to, over the course of the series, shade their coverage and sell out to take away. Hard in and Leonard. Those guys need help. We're going to see who is going to be suitable enough to help them.
Well, I guess first we gotta see if the NBA is gonna find any. Any issues with with Kauai and his contract and where he got extra money from or where he did it. This is uh This is one of these movies. Netflix is going to have the documentary. If the NBA gets this done, Netflix will have the documentary by January law, okay?
Yeah, I mean, look, if not Netflix, then I'm sure FX can roll back another series. Hey, look, the more the merrier. Boulong, appreciate the time. Appreciate the insight. I'm sure we'll be having a chat with you real soon.
Where can people follow you and all your work covering this? Yeah, well, first of all, shout out to the athletic and shout out to Pablo, who is with. with us now and I'm on all the socials. Y'all can find me. Y'all know how to use a search engine.
Fine Lawberg. All right, Law, we appreciate you, man. Try to get some downtime before the season starts, but I doubt it. Uh, you know, all I gotta do is stretch every day, man. Hey, I hear that.
That a lot of people need to start off that way. Law, catch you soon, okay? All right, thank you. Have a good one. You as well.
A big shout out to Law Murray, he covers all things. For the Clippers. Yeah, I law sees this as being an investigation that will be done in a matter of weeks. I mean, typically I I think anything like this, I'm going like they're gonna want to check everything. But maybe they'll come to a conclusion before then I mean, the good point from Law, d does the NBA want this being discussed?
When the season starts, they they're gonna want to have this concluded That's a good point. It's the JR Sport Reach Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinit Sports Network. Man, we got the first game of the NFL underway. And before we even got a snap between the offense and defense, We've already had a star get thrown out of the game. Oh my goodness, you cannot make this up.
We're going to talk about what just took place between these Cowboys and these Eagles. I'm going to tell you what apparently Bill Belichick is doing. To the Patriots? Like, what is he doing to the Pats? I'm gonna explain this.
The NFL season is underway to talk about that and more. It's a news flash right now. with Rich Shackerman. You open the fridge. There's nothing there.

At Hyundai USA Yeah, yeah. It is the JR Sport Reef Show on the Infinity Sports Network right before we went to break. You got the news flash from Rich Ackerman. And right now, since we got that news flash, the Philadelphia Eagles have answered back against the Dallas Cowboys. The score is tied up right now.
at seven points all. Jalen Hurts just scored on a four yard rush, and We saw Javante Williams come through with that one yard rush, and now the game is all tied. At seven points apiece. But this is what everybody's going to talk about. And it doesn't matter how tonight's game ends.
It doesn't matter what the result is. It's what took place before the game. The fact that you have a guy who who's one of the best defensive players in the entire NFL. And Jalen Carter. Damn it, you could say towards the end of last season, he was one of the best defensive players in the game.
He's one of the main reasons that this team, that these Philadelphia Eagles, were able to even advance. Yeah, they had a complete roster. But this guy was one of the best guys in the damn league and one of the reasons that they went to the Super Bowl. Jalen Carter was ejected. Right before we even got to a snap, Because he went up to Dak Prescott.
face to face, face mask to face mask. And he spat at 'em. And he spat at him. Right there next to the ref. The referee saw it and he immediately pushed Toss Jalen Carter.
Out of the game, you can't make this up. You know, I hate to bring up some past transgressions. I hate to bring up past issues, but to have Jalen Carter. who come out of the University of Georgia, who basically fell to the Philadelphia Eagles because after winning a national championship he was behind the wheel of a car that killed one of his teammates because they were driving recklessly Is is something that You you had to go Does he have a character issue? Is there something wrong with this dude?
He was drafted ninth overall by the Eagles in 2023. He's one of the most talented guys in the NFL. There's no reason outside of character as to why he would have fallen to to the ninth overall spot. And so to just to see the season open up. You got all eyes, all NFL fans are watching this opening game, and you got Jalen Carter spitting.
On the quarterback making the most money in the entire NFL is horrific. It's terrible. And it's something that you just Can't make up. And so Jalen Carter will absolutely You got Graham now off of the team. You think about some of the other veterans who've left.
When you got Jalen Carter here, He's a guy. who can help take the Eagles back to the Super Bowl on the defense. or he could be the jackass in the most pivotal moment at the end of a game. That ruins things. I you know what?
I've seen a lot in my life. I'm not gonna stand here, sit here in the studio, and tell you, I can't believe what I just saw. I'm not shocked. I'm not. It's just just horrific.
I'm not shocked. Botcher, I'm in the studio. You're in the studio. You saw the same thing I saw. It's just nutty.
That he went out there and spat on the guy, and it doesn't matter if it's before the game, or during the game, or after the game, but he didn't even, he just spat on the guy right out the gate for nothing. Yeah, unless he was told to set a tone, but I don't think they would tell their best defensive player to set the tone of spitting on someone. And now it's gonna lead to more fights like you just saw now. You look up, there's like a whole brawl going on basically.
So Yeah. I get it. I get it. Division Arrival. Opening game You want to be hyped up, but you don't spit on someone.
And I don't understand if it's like I'm gonna do this to get the guys behind me. It it's not smart in any case. No, it's not. It's not. You don't spit on anybody at any time.
I think that's a lesson learned in life. Just very early. Like, don't spit on anybody. And we see it happen in professional sports, we see it happen in football, things that get aggressive. But it's even more ridiculous to see it take place before we even get a snap.
Before the ball is even snapped, before anybody is pushed, before anybody is shoved, he's literally trying to intimidate. Dak and Dak is standin' there. And he spat on him. Yeah. I I I I've I haven't seen anything like that.
You know you go through games and you watch enough football, you see a tussle. You see a beef, you see some pushing, you see some shoving, you see some fists flying, you see people get angry, you see folks get mad. I have never before a game is even gotten underway. I have never seen a guy just go, You know what? I'm a spit on the guy.
And yet it had the kick off. But if I remember correctly, standing here looking in the studio, there were six seconds that went off the damn clock. Six seconds that went off the clock. And the next thing you know, we got Jalen Carter out here spitting on the guy. Botcher, he got tossed from the game.
Do you think there's going to be a further punishment? Maybe a $25,000 fine. That could probably be in the cards. Does this go in line with The other potential suspension options of like throwing a punch. I don't know.
I would say He's only gonna get fined at this point. Yeah. He'll he'll he'll get a fine. And it's just em it's embarrassing for the league. There's no there's never an excuse, there's never a reason to spit on anybody.
But right out of the gate, The opening game People are you know it's Oh, sure, the NFL is not going to lose any money. There's not going to be a sponsor who goes, oh my god, this is what they do. I'm going to pull my money. No, nobody cares. but that this is not the tone you want to set.
for the league at all. We'll keep you up to date on the game as it continues on. And one of the Eagles' best players, arguably their best defensive player, Jalen Carter, is out of the game, spitting on Dak Prescott. before they even had a snap. The Dallas Cowboys proceeded to score, got to the one-yard line of Javante Williams, run into the end zone, and the Philadelphia Eagles answered back on the very next possession, the next drive.
Jalen Hurts, we can expect to see a lot of this. A four-yard rush completing a 70-yard drive. There is about four and a half minutes, about four minutes left here. In the first quarter, Dallas and Philadelphia, they are still tied at seven points apiece. I'm not going to take a wild guess, but I will take a little bit of a wild guess.
I don't think we'll see anybody else getting spat on this game. I would certainly hope not. Just a terrible way to start things off. eight eight eight seven ten four I S N That's eight eight eight seven ten four I S N. Man, you sh you spit on somebody in the street.
You might be asking to die. And I wish I was joking, that's not a joke. He he's lucky he's just got kicked out of a game. I know it's a big giant man in Jailing Carter, I know he's going to hear about it from his teammates, his coaches, and everybody. It's a sad situation.
You've got to be there for you guys. Anyway, speaking of a sad situation, and anything for your teammates. We discussed this briefly yesterday. But we didn't get the apology. Because yesterday Angel Reese was quoted And in I believe it was Sports Illustrated.
No, it was the Ch Chicago Tribune. and pretty much sang. The Chicago Sky, who are not making the postseason again and only Angel Rees's second season. That we need better players. That I'm not going to put up with this.
And that, you know, I'd love to be here in Chicago, but if we don't get great players, I may need to leave. Damn it, the season's not done yet. You got a game that took place last night. Apparently, her teammates were not enamored with her, basically saying, Hey, my teammates suck. And then we got her coach who said, Yeah, we're aware of her statements, we're actively discussing them with her.
And so that's what we said yesterday on the show. But when we got off air, Angel Reese she had a press conference. The Chicago Sky. They played a basketball game last night, which is why there was so much media attention surrounding this, while we also heard from the coach.
Well They actually won a game yesterday. They beat the Connecticut Sun, who are horrific, 88-64. and then Angel Reese sat down with the media. And she had to answer for this. This is what Angel Reese had to say about her comments, basically saying, My teammates suck.
I don't think I'm frustrated. I probably am frustrated myself right now. I think the language is taken out of context. And I really didn't intentionally mean to put down my teammates because they've been through. This is with me throughout the whole year.
They've busted their eyes. Just how I busted my eyes. They showed up for me through thick and thin and in the locker room when nobody could see anything.
So I would apologize to my teammates, which I already have, about the article and how it was misconstrued about what was said. And I just have to be better with my language because I know. it's not the message it's the messenger and understanding what i what i say can be taken any kind of way, so I just have to really be better and grow from this. Aww. Oh, okay, fine.
This is like this is what we get: these 50-50 apologies. I'm going to apologize to my teammates, but then I'm also going to say that my words were taken out of context. Did you say what you said, or did you not? It's that simple. Hey, I'm sorry for what I said to my teammates.
Poor choice of words. I apologize to them. I'm apologizing to them publicly. I'm going to try my best to move on. Cut end scene.
Don't put it on the person who wrote it. Did the words come out of your mouth, yes or no? And apparently they did. Because if you were taken out of context, you'd have nothing to apologize for. And yet she admitted to having to uh do a better job and and choose her words a little bit more wisely.
Man, I I've sat down. People have interviewed me. And every word that comes out of your mouth, I don't care if you're playing basketball, whether you're married to somebody, you got kids, you got family, words matter. You got to learn how to communicate. You just can't be ripping off here at anything that you say.
Because words matter, and words have consequences. And for years now. We've heard Angel Reese be very open and clear on how she feels and how she wants to be presented, and sure ye're fine. But there comes a point in time where you also have to be measured. in what you say.
Lesson learned. I think also maybe learn how to just apologize. and not pass blank. It's the JR Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. 888-710-4ISN.
