We talked about some other things as well. potential NFL expansion in a few years to eighteen games. we discussed the the fact that Bill Belichick Robert Kraft wants to build a statue of him. Right next to Tom Brady. outside of Gillette Stadium.
Pretty cool. Nice stuff. We heard from Jerry Jones defending moving on for Micah Parsons. Lou Holtz? 88 years old, still throwing shots at the Ohio State University.
The NBA. They're going with a round robin approach. to their upcoming All Star game, international style. Got three teams, two American teams, one international team. May the best team win.
And then the NBA, speaking of the NBA. They're investigating this situation with the Clippers. and Kawhi Leonard. where allegedly Kawhi Leonard was paid through like a shell company For marketing work, for From the clipper's owner. That he didn't do anything, that he never had to do.
basically pay twenty eight million dollars on the side, allegedly, for doin' nothin'. Oh yeah, by the way, if he If he didn't play for the Clippers any more he no longer got any of the money. NBA is investigating. This is going to be nuclear. For the Clippers, If this comes out to be true, Anyway.
We got a lot to get into. It is Wednesday. Every single Wednesday I always bring you A new top six list. And because the NFL season is about 24 hours away, I wanted to take a look at some of the best six NFL teams this upcoming season. We got action tomorrow.
We got action on Friday. We got the Chiefs and the Chargers. They're going to be down in Brazil, and it looks like Najee Harris is going to get that start. on Friday. We know that he had that eye injury.
I don't think anybody's seen his eye yet. uh since he injured it during that uh Fourth of July fireworks mishap, but it looks like he's going to get the start at running back. For the Chargers. Can't wait to see what Hampton does, speaking of North Carolina. We'll see what he does at the running back position.
But right now, Najee Harris is going to get that start. But I'll tell you this. The chargers They're a team that hopes to get closer to a Super Bowl. You bring on Harbaugh, you hope to attain a championship just like Michigan, just like he almost did in the NFL with the 49ers. He goes somewhere, and teams get Better.
But like I told you, every Wednesday I bring you a new top six list. Been doing it on YouTube since 2009. Great to have done this now on the radio as well. In honour of the start, of the twenty twenty five NFL season. I'm presenting to you My top six NFL teams in 2025.
Let's go. Six, five. Four, three.
So One It's time to get JR's latest top six list. only on the JR Sport Brief. It is the JR Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. It's a top 6 list of teams in 2025. These are teams that I think have the best chance.
of elevating themselves.
So it's a championship. It's simple as that. Who do I think got better? Who do I think has room to improve? Who do I think?
What six teams do I think are closer? to a title. And let's get started right now. It's a countdown. Where are we going?
Number six. At number six on the list. I gotta go with a team that surprised everybody last year. They went 12 and 5. They were led to the postseason.
Damn it, they were led to the NFC Championship game. with a rookie quarterback. At number six on my list top six NFL teams in 2025. I'm going. with the Washington.
Commanders. Oh yeah, this ain't no Daniel Snyder team. This is a team that I think is moving in a stable direction. I mean, the biggest issue for the Washington Commanders this offseason was whether or not Terry McLaurin was going to get a deal. And ultimately, we knew they were going to give him a deal.
because you didn't want him walking away. from the development of Jaden Daniels, who last year won Offensive Rookie of the Year Went to the playoffs, beat the Bucs, surprised everybody, and smashed the Lions, and then they got smashed by the Eagles. Jaden Daniels Forget arguably. He had the best rookie season by QB. Epper.
3,500 yards passing. 25 touchdowns in the air to only 9 interceptions. A rookie doesn't do that. 891 yards on the ground with 6 touchdowns. They've added Debo Samuels.
They brought in Laramie Tunsell. Of course, I just told you about Terry McLaurin. They drafted Trey Amos to help at corner. They got Crosskin Merritt to come through and help at the running back position, so much so they sent Brian Robinson out west. The commanders are good.
They're going to be in a lot of shootouts. I think defense you still have to be concerned about. But I think they'll have the ability to light up the scoreboard with just about anybody. Jaden Daniels, Mr. Offensive Rookie of the Year.
He spoke to Scoop City with the athletic and said, listen, I am ready to start this year and build on what I did last. I'm excited. I think um Just the continuity that we have on the office and another year in the system for a lot of guys.
So we kind of know the little nuances of things and how close it's going to call stuff and like the continuity that we have on the office side of Boston. I'm excited. As you should be. I mean, they can't be as good as they were last year. Or can they?
Top six NFL teams in 2025. I got the commanders at six. Who's next? Number five. Oh, this this team?
They jumped up into the spot. Because of of one acquisition.
Okay, and number five I'm giving you The Green Bay Packers. Bringing in Michael Parsons having a game record. It just reminds me. of that von Miller effect. Bringing in a Vaughan Miller, just having one guy who can just go out there, get some strip sacks, and just completely change the game.
Get the ball back to the offense. Get them in scoring position. One guy. can do that with one move. The Packers were already good.
I think they needed some help getting over the hump. They went 11 and 6 last year. And then they lost to the Eagles in the playoffs. And damn it. Mister Love ain't look all that good.
Three interceptions. for Jordan Love in that beat down. at the hand of the Philadelphia Eagles last year. But one thing the Packers are going to do They're gonna put up points. And I think with Micah, I think that defense is also, they're going to cause some turnovers.
They're going to have some havoc being wreaked. On the opposition, Matt LaFleur. This is what he had to say about adding Micah Parsons to their defense. I don't think there's much that he can't do. It's just how do you get them acclimated to what we're doing, and then you can kind of let the creativity come out.
I think I got a lot of confidence and half in our defensive staff that we'll be able to put him in positions to maximize not only his ability but everybody around him. I just know from having the game plan against him. That is something that keeps you up at night when you're going against a player of his caliber. And now we feel like we've got a lot of other pieces around him. that it's going to be that much more challenging for our opponents.
Oh, w without a shadow of a doubt. You add Michael Parsons and people have their game plan. against him. We know Michael Parsons, he just got into the building. And during his introductory press conference, Michael Parsons said, You know what, this is a blessing in disguise.
And I'm gonna prove to the Packers and their fans. that I am worth the investment. Honestly, everything happens for a reason. It's a blessing in disguise. You know, I may not have that answer for you yet.
But I'm gonna figure it out and uh I'ma just keep I'ma work hard every day. To prove that the Packers organization made the right decision and trusted me. And you know, I'm not carrying that. Yeah, well, I think he's gonna help carry that defense, okay? I got the Packers at number five on my list, top six NFL teams in 2025.
Packers at five. Where are we going next? Number four. At number four. It's the Kansas City Chiefs.
You had the team that went out and last year laid an egg in the Super Bowl. lost to the Eagles forty to twenty two. Patrick Mahomes was running for his life. He was sacked a sixth. Times.
I want to know. How these chiefs are gonna bounce back. Sure, Travis Kelsey lost weight and now he's more fit and limber and faster and what have you. He's gonna be 36 years old next month.
Okay. We know they didn't three Pete. Rashi Rice is going to serve a suspension to start this season. Is Xavier Worthy gonna bounce into being one of the biggest playmakers in the entire NFL? I I trust Patrick Mahomes.
but every now and then he wants to be gunslinger. Is he just going to be ridiculously efficient enough to just win them games all by himself? I think he can be. But I also fear that the Chiefs are gonna take a step back. I'm still concerned about their offense, their offensive line.
There's not a care in the world of concern as it relates to Patrick Mahomes. But what about the things in the guys around him? Or has he entered into that Tom Brady space where I could give him five trash cans and he's still going to the Super Bowl? We're about to find out. Patrick Mahomes.
He spoke to Kate Adams up in Adams. And he said, listen. I'm not trying to go on no revenge tour. I just want to start the damn season and play. You know, I'm honestly just ready to play football again.
Whenever you lose, you kind of have this taste in your mouth that you want to go out there and revenge that or whatever you want to say. But at the same time, I feel like I've had to sit back and just listen to people talk and talk. And I'm like, let's just play football and just handle it all out there. And I don't really want to talk about it. I just want to go out and show who we are as the Kansas City Chiefs.
Look, and he got a haircut, right? That means he means business. That man lost and so I'm cutting my hair off.
Okay. I got the Kansas City Chiefs at number four on my list. Always difficult to count out Patrick Mahones. I think there's some teams that I'm more confident in. I may be confident in my homes.
I don't know about everybody around him. Kansas City Chiefs are number four on my list this year. Once we get past the Chiefs at four, we go to number three. Oh, this team, they're trying to beat him. Oh, they've been trying to beat him for a long time, damn it.
They just lost to them in the playoffs. At number three I got the Buffalo Bells.
Okay, we know what they do in the regular season. They won 13 games last year. Josh Allen won the MVP over Lamar Jackson. Damn it, he even beat. Lamar Jackson in the postseason.
Or did they, uh the Ravens beat themselves? Don't ask Mark Andrews that. Don't. ask him but then they went on and they lost to harrison butker He kicked them to the Super Bowl, and the Buffalo Bills went home again.
Okay? But now they've added Joey Bosa. After Von Miller flopped, we saw that coming. James Cook was the biggest store in the offseason. Like, what are we doing here?
He even got a new contract. And the Buffalo Bills are getting ready to run it back again.
Okay, this isn't four consecutive trips to the Super Bowl with four consecutive losses, but it feels like the same old, same old. for the Buffalo Bills. Are they finally gonna get over the hump? We know they're one of the best teams in the entire NFL. will you finally get the job done?
Damn it, are you even gonna beat the Chiefs? Josh Allen, he spoke to Yahoo Sports and he's like, man. That's sports. We got to beat him. It is what it is.
Fuels us that much more to get over that hump so we can stop hearing those things, but that's the game of football. It's a game of life, really. Like, again, we got to keep working hard. We can't throw in the towel. We got to keep working until we find a way.
And we're going to go up, we're going to go around, we're going to go under, we're going to go through it if we have to.
So we're going to keep working hard and just keep putting our head down and let the chips fall where they may. Oh, the game of life, how about it is true. You gotta figure out how to go under things and through them and around them. That's the game of life. And the board game is not too bad either.
Been a long time since I played that. Buffalo Bills, number three on my list. Top six NFL teams in 2025. If I have. The Buffalo Bills.
At number three. Who could I possibly have at? Number two. Oh, it's It's the team that didn't beat them.
Okay, it's the Ravens. I mean these two damn teams are neck and neck. I mean, if it wasn't raining, if it wasn't wet, if they didn't turn the ball over, if Mark Andrews could catch a pass, a lot of ifs, this, this, and whatever. I just feel strongly. in the Baltimore Ravens roster.
From top It's a bottom. They went twelve and five last year. It took the damn Ravens all the way to the end of the regular season. For them to just go poof. And just disappear just like that in a disappointing fashion.
And this is the bad part.
Somebody has to win?
Somebody has to go out there and lose. And last season, Lamar Jackson, he lost to Josh Allen. And then he lost to the guy when it came down to the MVP, but with this roster. DeAndre Hopkins, do I think he's cooked? No, I don't think so.
I think he's going to be a good addition. to this team. Drafting in a Malachi Starks, bringing in a Jair Alexander, you eventually hope that he's healthy. They've improved on a weakness and that's that's stopping the pass. But we know just flat period They have one of the best passers in the entire NFL.
And Lamar Jackson. And I think the reason he didn't win MVP last year. Voter fatigue. I think people are just like, you know what, we're not giving this guy. Another MVP, who does he think he is?
Just thinks he's the best ever. We can't have him go out there. and do that. The man passed for 4,000, excuse me, 4,100 yards. 41 touchdowns to only 4 interceptions.
How do you throw the ball that much? and not turn it over. He rushed for 915 yards and 4 touchdowns. Lamar Jackson is a freak. And somebody who knows that.
is his own head. Coach. Listen to what Harbaugh had to say about Lamar Jackson on ESPN. I think from a football standpoint, Just go to the most basic simple thing, Lamar is a passer. He is a historically good passer.
And that's really quite a statement because of the narrative. that's been surrounding him ever since the beginning. Lamar Jasset can throw the football. He can throw it every kind of way, you can make every kind of throw any kind of way you want. He's as good as any guy, any passer that has ever been, and I think now the numbers are proving that.
So that's the thing I'm kind of a little bit proud of, but also a little bit like, okay, here we go. What did we learn from that? You know, you can take even big pictures. You can say, from a society standpoint, football standpoint, what did we learn from that? What kind of questions do we ask ourselves?
Mark Jackson as a passer. is uh is historically great. Yeah, it took years and it has taken years for people to leave him alone when it comes to that regard. And the only thing left to do is to Go to a Super Bowl. Come on, between him and Josh Allen.
Forget the MVPs. He has one, you got two.
Somebody. has to go to the Super Bowl, okay? We're going to take a break. And when we come back. I'm going to tell you about the team.

From the start of the 2025 NFL season, we got kickoff. Exo exactly 24 hours. From now in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. And so today I'm bringing you a new top six list that takes a look at the top six NFL teams for 2025. These are the teams that I believe.
Are best equipped to go out here and hoist the Vince Lombardi trophy at the conclusion of the season. And so before I give you number one, let me go ahead and give you a recap if you weren't here in the last break. And number six. I gave you the Washington Commanders. This is a team that shocked everybody.
with a rookie quarterback almost taking his team. To the Super Bowl. They've added Debo Smith. They got Laramie Tunsell. They drafted Trey Amos.
This is a team. That I think is on the up and up. Are the commanders going to win 12 games? Are they going to go 12 and 5 again? I don't think so.
But I still believe that This team is on the up and up. And number five. One of the best teams in the NFL, my top six list. I give you the Green Bay Packers.
Okay? And this is really because they went out and added Michael Parsons. They drafted Matthew Golden at wide receiver. Jordan Love certainly needed somebody to get the ball to at the number one spot. I mean, Josh Jacobs pretty much told us that at the conclusion of the season.
But I think the Packers, they got themselves a. A game breaker. They got themselves a game changer. I got them number five on my list. And number four.
The Kansas City Chiefs. They're getting older. But at least Kelsey is. Do they still have it? They have to deal with suspensions and age and question marks and you still have Patrick Mahomes, so nobody should ever be shocked at what they do.
I'm just not so sure the Chiefs will be the Chiefs that everybody knows. And number three, I gave you the Buffalo Bills. Damn it, if they should be so lucky to finally beat the Kansas City Chiefs in the postseason. They have the reigning MVP and Josh Allen. They said let's give Joey Bosa a crack.
Hopefully he stays healthy instead of a guy like Von Miller. The Bills are the Bills. Josh Allen is a superhero. You expect for some of their players like Coleman to step up as they move into their second years, but the Buffalo Bills are the Bills. It's not about the regular season.
It's about the post season. And number two. I gave you the Ravens. Why did I take the Ravens over the Buffalo Bills? I just think from top to bottom.
they have a more complete roster. That's it. They're in the same damn position. They're ultimately neck and neck. Neither one of these teams have advanced to the Super Bowl and actually won it.
Neither one of them has gotten by the Chiefs. I got the Ravens a number two in the season that Lamar Jackson had last year. With the help of Derrick Henry, I I think and I know Lamar Jackson's younger than Derrick Henry. I think they have They've taken some hits off of both of their careers. Good for them.
So if I have the Baltimore Ravens at number two on my list, top six NFL teams in 2025. Who could I possibly have? at this number right here. Number one. To the shock of no one, You want to talk about the Ravens having a complete roster?
I think this team is the most complete roster in the entire NFL. They are your defending champion. Philadelphia Eagles. Yeah, not too much of a shock there. At number one overall, And yeah, they're the champs even though they don't want to talk about it.
They don't want to say repeat. They don't want to even discuss the fact that They won, or that they won rings, or that they even will be unveiling a banner. Tomorrow night. Nick Siriani spoke to the media. And he's just like, I know we play the Cowboys, but um They're gonna unveil a championship banner?
Oh, I had no idea. You guys you guys have emphasized, you're moving on from last year. The last banner night in 2018. It's famous that the fans booed the Eagles at halftime because they weren't happy with the way things were going, albeit it was banner night. How do you feel about the fact that even though it is banner night for you guys, the fans will still have the standard of performing in winning at a high level.
Uh we won't be out for that. He's not uttering the word repeat. Nobody wants to Bounce back. Nobody wants to. Go again no.
The Philadelphia Eagles are all business. Jalen Hurts is always all business, which I I appreciate him as a quarterback. Never gets too high, never gets too low. Just a couple of weeks ago Jalen Hurts he was asked. about last season and Why he doesn't wear his Super Bowl ring, and he had a very succinct answer.
Yeah, I've moved on, I moved on to the new year. You know, it's. It's it's as simple as that. Did they win or did they lose? What do they know how to win?
They celebrated enough? Dammit, it was just yesterday AJ Brown was standing at his locker. Star wide receiver He was asked about moving on, and And thinking about This upcoming season, and what did he learn from last year? And he's just like, um. Last year is done.
You know, I think from the outside, I think uh the city and everybody has been been talking about it but you know this building has been locked in you know if we we I put that to bed long ago. Um Like I said, we just ready to go. You know, we That's over with. A lot of lot of the players didn't even experience that, so. Yeah, that's all.
This Eagles team the only thing that's gonna stop this Eagles team I believe it's it's just injury. You think about the contributions of some of their players last year, Saquon Barkley having an awesome season, more than. I think 2,200 yards overall, scrimmage yards. For the Eagles last season. What an investment that was to bring them on in from the New York Giants.
You think about some of their top defenders. These are guys who are going to be moving into their second years. I mean, Cooper DeGene and Quinn Yon Mitchell, people looking at these two guys is how are they going to fit in? What is Jalen Carter going to look like? Already one of the best defensive tackles, one of the best ends, one of the best quarterback getters from out of Georgia.
in the entire NFL. What is he gonna look like? As he continues to accumulate experience.
So you might have guys like Brandon Graham who are gone. You have some defenders who are going to continue to get better. And maybe jailin' hurts. If he's asked to do a little bit more, Maybe Jalen Hurts will shut up some of the people who think that he is not even a top 10 QB. I got the Eagles number one on my list.

I think the Commanders, I have them at six. They could sink a little bit, or I think they could still be competitive. They're going to win 12 games, not so sure. But I would think that overall there'll still be. A better team.

But also The last person is Number fifty eight. He's going to keep Mark Andrews. completely under control.

Are they finally going to get to the Super Bowl and win it? Everything outside of that is moot. Who cares. Like who cares? And I'm not trying to say that to be a jerk.
Who cares what the record looks like at the end of the season for the Buffalo Bills? Who cares what the Buffalo Bills do in game number one, two, or three? Who cares if they go 15 and two? Who cares if they go 16 and one? What are they going to do in January and or February?
And man, if you're a Buffalo Bills fan, And that's what the hell you thinking about. You you must really gotta be bored. Like who cares? I mean, whoever loses a game on Sunday between the Ravens and the Bills, they're not falling into the abyss. They're still going to be competitive.

That's a team that I know they've lost both coordinators, and there's a lot of question marks there, but I still think that the Lions are the second best team. In the NFC. I do still think they win the NFC North despite the Packers getting. Micah Parsons, the Vikings look pretty good with J.J. McCarthy now taking over as quarterback.
I like Detroit a lot. I understand why they're not on there because the six teams you had are great and all those teams in the AFC take up more than half the spots, but if I was to switch one, I'd probably take out the commanders and put the Lions in there at six. Yeah. That that was my thought. I went back and forth between the the two of them.
And I know the commanders, they ended up smashing the lines in the postseason. and we saw that awful game from from Jared Goff. I'm just not a Jared Goff guy.
