Thank you to our producer helping to hold things down tonight, Chris Percianin. And thank you to you again for listening. Whether you're here in Atlanta, you're in New York, you're in Los Angeles, you're in Boise, you're in Chicago, you're in Kansas, Kentucky, Arkansas, Baltimore, Cleveland, Toronto, Honolulu. Thank you for being here. We got a lot to get into.
I mean, damn, every time I turn my head, There's another NFL player who goes down. Like every five minutes, it's like, is it too hot outside? Or the guy's not hydrated? We got. Hamstrings and knees, and Isaiah Likely goes down.
Another Dallas Cowboy goes down. We got people with toe injuries. There's a lot going on. Give you an update on that real soon. Speaking of injuries, how about this?
We're a couple days away from the Major League Baseball trade deadline. And we got probably the biggest the biggest trade piece Eugenio Suarez This guy is getting hit by a pitch. I'm going to tell you the MRI results. It looks like he will be okay. Looks like he'll still get moved.
Sometime between now and Thursday. How about this? We got my main man, Levi Weaver, joining us. Covers all things baseball from the athletic. He will be here to break things down as the trade deadline gets closer.
How about this Jimmy Haslam, the guy who knows a thing or two about quarterbacks, the man who wanted Deshaun Watson?
Well, he had some thoughts today on Arch Manning. We'll hear what he has to say there. It seems like every day, in addition to injuries, there's more that comes out about athletes and gambling. as professional sports kinda Jump the gun too fast. Luka Doncic is on his world tour about his health and fitness.
And there's just a lot going on, of course. At the end of the show, we'll talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history. We got a lot to break down. You can always listen to this show. On the free Odyssey app.
on your local Infinity Sports Network affiliate. On Sirius XM channel three hundred seventy five. And if you got a smart speaker, be smart. Ask the speaker to play. The infinity The sports.
Network What a day, what a day, what a day. You want to be a part of the show? You can do that too. We got a phone number. It works.
You can call it Here it is. Are you ready? Here's a phone number. Eight eight eight. A seven ten four I S N That's 888.
It's seven ten. Aye. N It's so much to get into.
So much to discuss. You know, you don't expect a lot of news at this this time of year. Thinking about NFL training camps going on. Major League Baseball finally has the stage to themselves. They're about to get hot.
Some of these big names, guys on expiring contracts, moving around, maybe helping out contenders with this. expanded playoffs that we now have in Major League Baseball.
So things are typically quiet. Unless Nas something bad goes down. Unless this it it is an injury, unless there is an issue. But one of the worst things, if there is a worse thing. About having this job, talking about sports, having a platform.
It's not easy. When bad things happen, right?
So even last night. We open up the show talking about Deion Sanders. Uh bladder cancer. And God bless him. He's fine.
He's good. He's great. He's okay. At the end of the show. We have to share news with you.
that you have A a Chicago Cubs legend. And Ryan Sandberg, who who passed away. been battling and fighting cancer. And there's a lot of people who grew up on WGN, a lot of people who grew up in Chicago. You know, watching this MVP, watching this almost Iron Man, watching this dude offense, defense go out there and do it all.
He was a legend. For a lot of people. But it also really, really sucks. To have to be here on the air yesterday and kinda sandwiched in between all of that without full details. you know, learn about what took place yesterday.
At the NFL headquarters, their their office building. where earlier this morning well, last night we learned that A guy And Shane Tamora decided to drive from Las Vegas Roll up to the NFL's headquarters at Park Avenue, a building of which they share. uh with uh several banks and other companies. And a guy just walks in and starts shooting people. The guy goes up to the wrong floor and ends up.
Killing himself. I mean, these are the worst stories. And today, Unfortunately, we just got more details about all of this. The worst. L listen, the worst possible scenario was Anybody gets hurt, and that's what took place.
Flattened, period. But you're sitting here on there. And as the host and then also producing on the air while I'm here, I'm saying to myself. Oh, crap. You just, is this going to be sports-related?
Does it really matter? People lost their lives, but there are intricacies involved. And then we learned earlier today that this apparently was NFL involved. I want you to take a listen to a CBS from earlier today.
Well, Cindy, we have just learned from Mayor Adams that the suspect may have been targeting the National Football League, which is located in this building. He says that the suspect left behind a note mentioning CTE, which is a brain injury commonly associated with athletes caused by repeated trauma to the head. Mayor Adams also mentioned that the suspect was a high school football player, but never played in college or the NFL. He never played in college with the NFL. The guy had a note on him that pretty much said, you know, hey, study my brain for.
For CTE, and he apparently had a three-page long rambling letter. uh that he wrote. People out in Las Vegas, the the authorities pretty much say that He has a history of of of mental health issues. And this is what took place. And so this bled into today, unfortunately.
You know, you have people who have to deal with the real life ramifications of what happened. The police officer. Who was killed? The employee from Blackstone, the investment company, investment bank. uh who was killed.
One of the NFL employees happened to be in the lobby And was was shot in the back. Like, who the hell wants to go to work and have to suffer this fate? Nobody. You want to go to work, take care of your family, and go to hell on back home. Nobody wants to deal.
With any of this. It's horrific, it's horrible. It's terrible. You know, I don't know Shane Tamar from a hole in the ground. Didn't know the guy's name from 24 hours ago.
And here he is. It's the national name, national figure, probably the most Googled thing. in the United States of America over the past uh twenty-four hours. In the NFL, Well, they've always been a target, you know. When you got billions of dollars, you're making billions of dollars and We've seen scandal.
We've seen controversy. Sports is a microcosm of life. And there's really not anything that it it doesn't touch. And specifically, you think about the teams that are are in New York, or at least outside the area, the New York Giants and The New York Jets They play right on the other side of the river. in New Jersey at MetLife, they also have their practice facilities out there.
Aaron Glenn and Brian Dayball, they could not start their press conferences. They could not speak to the media. without having to address this. I mean Brian Dayball Made a point right out of the gate to kind of bring awareness and attention to what took place. And then one of the responses that that he received from a reporter was You know, were there security concerns about the Giants and the players?
And listen to what Brian Dayball had to say earlier this morning.
So I saw what happened there at 345 Park. Tragic. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people that were affected in that tragedy. Or with the Giants. What do you got?
Yeah. What is there to say? And if he did, I'm I'm sure he kept it. I'm sure that they had a private meeting in regards to security and screening. He's not going to share that publicly.
Aaron Glenn, brand new head coach of the New York Jets, I'm sure this isn't something that he thought he'd have to discuss. early this morning, but he did so. Listen. The thing that happened yesterday at the league office Man, just as an organization, our thoughts and prayers. uh go out to all the families.
It's always tough to um to hear things like that. And really to try to stay focused, but you have to because you have a job to do, but you think about the families that go through that. And it's it's tough. It's tough.
So I want to make sure that I state that first and foremost. Yeah, it it it is it is tough. Look, the NFL is is always going to be a a target. It's always going to be a lightning rod. The NFL is at the center.
of American culture, especially As a sport. There was a point in time where you could refer to baseball as America's pastime. That that time is long gone. The NFL dominates. The sporting calendar.
The NFL owns an entire season here. In the United States of America, the NFL owns Sundays. From the fall into the winter time, That's the league. It makes billions of dollars. You got a franchise like the Dallas Cowboys, they have a valuation.
Approaching $15 billion. And, you know, I guess it's bloodlust and controlled violence. What else is new? I'm not going to say this is the Roman Coliseum. It certainly is not.
But it's controlled violence, and there's a little bit of the athleticism and the competitiveness. that that people enjoy from from coast The coast. And so whether it happens to be about how they treat players or it happens to be about gambling or even CTE. It's always going to be at the center of something. It's just real unfortunate that last night people had to lose their lives because of one guy.
and his thoughts and his opinions and whether he was sick or not, What he did is is is deplorable. And so, all the best to everybody who had to deal with this horrific situation in New York City. Hopefully it's not another one. You know, all I can do is just hope that one day we can each take our own individual actions. To try to make sure that these things, these issues, don't happen again, whether it's at an NFL office or down the block from you, at a post office, at a club, at a church, at a restaurant.
It's just been too many instances of this.
So yeah, I'd be remiss. Personally. Uh not to to mention what took place last night. Given the fact that I had to sit here. and unfortunately give an update On what it was.
We know what took place. I'm sure we'll have more details into the future. But at this point, you know, we know enough. People lost their lives. More more people have lost their lives and that part about it.
It's just despicable. It's the JR Sport Brie Show here with you, coast to coast, on the Infiniti Sports Network. I told you we have so much to get into. as we continue on with the show. We got some news on Michael Parsons and whether or not he's going to come back.
Continue practicing with the Dallas Cowboys. He is at work. We got a bunch of dudes who unfortunately have been practicing and they have gone down with some individual injuries here in training camp. I guess it's just par for the course. Eugenio Suarez.
This man almost went down with an injury yesterday for the Diamondbacks. This man has cracked thirty six home runs.
Somebody, a lot of teams want to bring him on for his bat. Is he going to be able to be moved? We're going to have Levi Weaver joining us from the athletic. We're going to talk about Arch Manning. I do want to dive a little bit deeper.
I mentioned gambling just a little bit. We got a lot of issues in sports with gambling and athletes with casinos right now. And so we have a lot to discuss, a lot to get into. If you want to be a part of the show, you can. The phone number here is 888-710-587.
for ISN. That's 888-710-45. 4ISN. When we come back, I'm going to give you an update on Michael Parsons. who might be slowing things down.
while practicing, With the Cowboys. I'll give you some details on the other side. Welcome to the show. It's the JR Sport Brief Show, Coast to Coast on the Infinity Sports Network. It is the JR Sport Brief Show here with you, Coast to Coast on the Infinity Sports Network.
Eight eight eight seven ten four I S N is the number. That's 888-710-45. Training camp could be good. Training camp could be bad. You could be getting in shape.
You could be. On your rookie season, you could be getting some of the biggest checks that you'll ever see in your life if you're Shamar Stewart. It could be Joe Flacco. You're trying to maybe enjoy every moment that you have on a football field because every day it's. Probably closer to the end.
You could be in the middle. You could beat Terry McLaurin. This man showed up to work, not to practice, but not to get fine.
Now he's standing around on the sidelines with what they're saying is a bum ankle.
Okay, yeah. Sure. Or you could be someone like Micah Parsons. Michael Parsons, he wants a new deal, he wants a new contract. Entering into the final year of his deal, his rookie deal, But the Dallas Cowboys wants to be the highest paid.
Player not throwing the ball in the entire NFL.
Well, today we got a little bit of an update. It appears that, according to Adam Schufter, that things are going sideways. In negotiations between Michael Parsons and also the Dallas Cowboys, in that. They appear a little bit further away. From a deal Than what they were months ago.
And how can that be possible? Are they just hating each other's guts? We've heard some of these ridiculous statements by the Dallas Cowboys about how Micah needs to want to get paid, makes it sound like he's just rejecting deals. Jerry Jones is saying that we want to pay him, but we need to actually also fill out the roster.
Well, I'm I'm sorry. I'm trying not to call Jerry Jones a dumbass. I didn't call him one. I'm trying not to do so.
Okay, fine. Um But if you actually paid players when you first had the chance and opportunity. You wouldn't have to spend so much money because you're taking it down to the final minute, man. Like did did Dak Prescott Need to make sixty per Did he need to? You know, the the C D Lamb, did you have to wait until the final day?
And now of course he's been jumped by Jamar Chase is making forty. He's been jumped by all of those guys. And then you got You got Micah Parsons, who made it very clear. He said last year I wanted to get a deal done. Yeah.
the stupid ass Dallas Cowboys. They would have saved money. by giving him a contract last year. that probably would not have exceeded Thirty. Million.
Dollars. And now the number is a forty. million. Dollars. And so it's just a shame to hear Jerry Jones say something like that.
Oh, well, we got to spread money out across the team. We got to have money to pay other people.
Well, if you paid other guys. Before just the final minute. You would have saved yourself some cash. And then you'd be able to spread some money out. across the team.
And so it's being reported that He might still be at camp, Michael Parsons is. But apparently he's scaling back on his activities. at said camp. Dallas Cowboys, they like a lot of teams are currently dealing With some major injury issues. I don't know what happened today.
I don't know if it's something in the air. I don't know if it's the weather. But we had a lot of players go down. With injuries. Micah Parsons might be scaling back on purpose.
But Kalin Carson, a cornerback? He's the latest cornerback to go down. He's out. with a hyperextended knee, He might be gone for a month at minimum. He's just coming off a shoulder surgery.
You already got Trayvon Diggs coming back from his busted-up knee. The Dallas Cowboys are in some bad shape right now. At least Deron Bland is healthy. I know he's looking. For a contract as well.
And you got Christian Gonzalez, and he got a hamstring issue for the New England Patriots. There's just bad things all over the place. Listen to this. from CBS Boston, just about what's going on with Gonzalez. Star cornerback Christian Gonzalez did not take the practice field behind Gillette Stadium today, but he does appear to have avoided a serious injury after leaving Monday's practice.
According to Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports, Gonzalez suffered a hamstring injury that will sidelight him for some of training camp.
Now, Schultz reports that the injury is not expected to impact Gonzalez's status for week one of the NFL season. Today, the star corner showed up near the end of practice with the sleeve of his left leg as he signed autographs. Oh, at least he came oh, he was nice enough to sign autographs. You're not healthy enough to run on no hammy. Man, let me tell you something.
You mess up your hammy now. You can mess up your hammy.
Next month. He could mess it up two months from now. Man, you could be feeling great, feeling good, and you decide to, you know, put a little bit of oomph into it. You mess up your hamstring again, and then you're right back. At square one.
Like, you don't want to deal with that. And I told you about Kalin Carson. Listen to this report. This is courtesy. of chat.
Sports. Cowboys injury news for you guys. Kalen Carson per ESPN's Todd Archer suffered a hyperextended knee. That's going to take him out for four to six weeks. That's a big factor in why the team picked up Christian Matthew earlier this morning.
They simply need bodies to help get through training camp. It's an unfortunate injury for Carson as the summer of injuries for the Cowboys continues. Man, it's not even just the Cowboys. Isaiah likely the big target? Uh you know, for the Baltimore Ravens.
Like he had to beat Carter off the field earlier today. He rolled his ankle. He's expected to be gone. A few weeks. We got Martin Emerson, who plays for the Cleveland Browns.
We'll get into the Browns later on. Their owners said some wacky things today. But Carson Emerson. This guy blew out his Achilles. No, he's not the NBA, but he blew out his Achilles.
Man, we got the Kansas City Chiefs. They're trying to have all their wide receivers healthy for a season. We know Rashi Rice is likely to be suspended. But Marquise Brown, Hollywood. He was carted off the field.
He was just doing a bunch of interviews yesterday about how healthy he feels and how fast the entire offense is going to be.
Well, how the hell are they going to be fast? If you're not out there, An active man. Michael Pittman Jr. dealing with a groin injury. Yes.
It's July, guys. Come on. And I know it's football. Man, I almost hurt my groin going up the escalator the other day. Nobody's hitting me.
So I guess these guys, they are getting hit lightly, at least right now. They should be fine. And even we got Malik neighbors. It doesn't matter. Is it his toe?
Is it his shoulder? He got a shoulder injury. Listen to this: courtesy of the New York Post. And the biggest news of the day is wide receiver Malik Nabers leaving practice. What looks to be some sort of left shoulder injury.
It was a team period. He had just finished one-on-ones. He did warm-ups. He did routes on air. And then in their first team run period, it looked like he got caught in the scrum a little bit, hit the ground, got up and was holding his left shoulder.
And you could see that as he walked off the field with the trainers. This is a big deal because obviously he missed all of OTAs in mini camp while he was rehabbing his toe, that toe injury. But the man has been on an absolute heater since he started since the beginning of training camp practice.
So you don't know if it's something that's more of a precaution in terms of taking him out and getting him evaluated or if there could be something there. Oh man, it's like everything. Buffalo Bills are dealing with an injury as well. They drafted Maxwell Hearston. I remember him.
He got him out of Kentucky. Like he got a non-contact knee injury. I mean, d is everybody out here just getting hurt? It's a crazy world that we live in right now. Damn.
And I felt our producer helping out today. A Chris Percian and Chris, you're not hurt. You're okay, right? You're good? No, I I am not on the pup as of yet, not on the pup list.
Nothing, you know, maybe podcasting the first hour of your show, I might pull something on the way over to the other computer, but right now I'm good.
Okay, good. All right. You you'll make it through the next three and a half hours? You'll be okay? I hope so.
You need some water? You need to hydrate? Are you all right? No, this is what we train for. This is what the long, grueling hours for.
I do sprints. I do suicides here in the newsroom. I'm ready.
Okay, well, okay. I've never heard anybody doing that in the office, but Whatever gets you going, whatever can get you through the show, okay? I took some cues from Rich Eisen. You do it in a full suit, too, just whatever.
Okay. All right. Okay. It's nice to know. I hope you stretch beforehand.
Otherwise you will be dealing With a busted-up hamstring. Just so many guys went down today. And I told you, literally, every time I turn my head, And somebody else is going down.
Somebody else got hurt. And one of the things that you do not want to hear in sports Non contact injury Went down. Nobody touched him. He just was standing there. Maybe he was in a stance.
exploded up and the next thing you know he well, ended up on the ground, okay? This is not what anybody wants. Before you even really get to the nitty gritty, before you even get to uh preseason, which is just glorified uh Like patty cake at this point in time. It's not me out there busting my ass. I'm not looking for a job in the NFL.
The preseason might as well just be glorified patty cake. And to have guys going down. Dudes who is supposed to contribute big time. Just stinks. Started with Kenny Pickett over the weekend.
But we all know, ain't ain't nobody really expect to see Kenny Pickett out there playing anyway, so. Yeah. Yeah, a couple couple more uh reps. For Dylan Gabriel. And maybe.
Maybe, possibly, potentially. A Shador. 888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4ISN. Dave is here from Tampa.
You're on the chair of Sport Brief Show. What's up, Dave? AR, you brought up Luca early on. I want to jump on the Luca thing. I don't know if I told you, Jara.
I played full court basketball in LA in the eighties four or five times a week. I played till I was fifty years old. I have followed the NBA since the seventy two Knicks. And Luca, I want to keep it real. You tell me if I'm out of control.
is a triple double. I even go to say He's he's got the skills of magic and bird. The skills? I mean, well, we saw what he did in taking the Dallas Mavericks to a championship. And that was.
That was an immature version. of the guy. and if he's lucky he'll get another chance and another crack. Maybe he'll stop chirping at the officials. Maybe he'll stop whining.
Maybe he'll stop blaming other people. It looks like he's already started to take some accountability when it comes down to his body. I think we know he can be a championship caliber player. He can get you thirty points. He can get you ten assists.
He can grab you eight rebounds a game because he's a straight killer. He can be one of the best players at the league. has ever seen. He has that potential. Let's see if he lives up to it.
No, JR, thank you because me being the same age as Bird and Magic, I've seen all the great players, you know, the Iceman, everybody who's Bernard King, all of them. But what I've seen in a short period of time, me be five foot seven, man, I'm a scrapper. I love the game of basketball. And when I see him, I see more bird than magic.
Well, you know, ultimately, he's a basketball player. Luca is not out there overly relying on his athleticism. He ain't flying over anybody. He's not blowing by anybody. He's a basketball player.
He's the guy in the gym who you don't expect to go out there and destroy you, and he ends up being the best guy. Uh on the court. And so, if you want to start going into Magic and Bird, and going into oh, Larry Bird was this, he wasn't the most athletic, and if that's what it is, then so be it. He has the potential to be the one of the best players ever. And given what he succeeded so far early on in his career, Uh we all know that the potential is there, and let's see if he can live up to it.
I'm certainly here for the ride. I want to see what he can go out there and do. We're going to talk more about Luca later on in the show. He was at Yankee Stadium last night, he was at Men's Health Journal. Talking about his fitness, and people are saying, Oh my God, he didn't mention LeBron in the article.
This is a lot going on. In Los Angeles. What else is new? 888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4ISN.
We'll get into Luca and LeBron later on in the show. I also want to talk to you about Arch Manning, get into the Browns and their owner, some of the comments that he made about his roster, Shador Sanders. Arch Manning.
So there's a lot that we'll get into there. But when we come back on the other side of the break, I told you we're days away. from the Major League Baseball trade deadline. and probably the biggest fish who can be caught. Eugenio Suarez We had to worry about whether or not he was going down.
He got hit on the hand by a pitch yesterday. Apparently everything is clean. Does that still mean that there's going to be a clean break between him and the diamondbacks? We'll talk about that on the other side of the break. We'll get into some baseball.
There's a lot to do. And then still Emmanuel Clase. I guess he's just sitting around with his feet up. When you potentially gamble or being investigated, maybe you're sitting around sweating. I have no idea.
We'll get into that on the other side of the break. It's the JR Sport Brief Show on the Infinity Sports Network. And right now, it's time for a news flash. It is the JR Sport Brief Show here on the Infinity Sports Network. Eight eight eight.
It's seven ten. for I S N. That's 888 710. 4ISN. You know, right before we went to break, We talked about a lot of the injuries that have taken place today in NFL training camps all across the country.
You got Christian Gonzalez going down with a hamstring. You have Isaiah Likely with an ankle. Malik Neighbors with a shoulder. We got Kalen Carson with a knee, Maxwell Hairston with a knee, even though he's yet to play. In an NFL game, he's a rookie.
You got all these guys who are at work. who have gone down. And then we told you about Michael Parsons. Michael Parsons is at work But apparently he's going to slow down on participating in practice. As things apparently have come to a standstill.
with his contract, with the Dallas Cowboys. And as our producer told me in the break, Chris Percianen. Mm-hmm. Apparently we got one guy who hasn't been at work. He's about to show up.
What what's going on, Chris? Yeah, news just came in, JR, that Trey Hendrickson is going to go from, as Ian Rappaport said, from hold out to hold in. It's a leap of faith from the Bengals star, but he's going to report on Wednesday. He's en route to Cincinnati right now, per Rappaport and Tom Pellisero. No deal just yet.
Hendrickson's going to show up as the two sides keep working. And JR, this makes sense. He said recently he was leaving camp, going to Jacksonville, but he wasn't happy about it. He wasn't happy that it got to that point.
Well, we've heard from Trey Hendrickson for months now, and he's been very strategic in what he said and what he hasn't said. We know even dating back to last week when the Cincinnati Bengals started up trading camp.
Well he put up a post that he is on his way to Florida. And he's done a lot of yapping. He's done a lot of talking. As I said, strategically, he hasn't been openly complaining. He's not on social media begging to be traded to a team.
He hasn't gone the. you know, the route of some of the other players that we've seen over the past few years. But Trey Hendrickson, it's just. I I don't know, maybe reality is setting in. Knowing that you're getting smacked for $50,000 every single day has finally settled in.
And I don't know if him showing up is going to put pressure on the Cincinnati Bengal. I do know this. I don't know where the hell else he's going. I know getting docked $50,000 a day for a week is not fun. How much longer do you want to do that?
And so I assume his presence being there. Might actually quote unquote break the ice. He can be aggressive in in having a chat with the media. Put the Cincinnati Bengals, known as one of the cheapest. organizations in the world of sports kind of put them on notice.
But losing that money is not going to help. And I think there's also realization, and he said from the get-go. I'm not looking to be the the the highest pay. I don't got to get paid more money than anybody else. And the number right now Is that about forty?
41. We saw what TJ Watt got just before the beginning of camp for the Steelers. The number's 41. And I will assume that Trey Hendrickson, he's going to fall in that Max Crosby. You know, 35-ish range.
I'd be shocked. If the Bengals you know, gave him anything closer. To 40. It's real nice of him to have 17 and a half sacks the past two years each. Uh but when you factor in his age You take a look at the fact that he can go get the quarterback, but he's not the best all-around player.
He's not going to hold things down in the middle. I think reality is setting in, and so has his wallet. It's like who wants to give up fifty K every single day. They'll get a deal done. I think he'll have no choice to accept it.
I think the Bengals at the same time, you think about their defense was was horrific. They they can't afford to let this guy just Walk out of the building. Not at all.
So we'll see what happens with Trey Hendrickson. I'm sure once he reports tomorrow... We're gonna have uh we're gonna have plenty of news. We're going to have plenty of news. Eight eight eight seven ten four I S N That's eight eight eight seven ten For ISN.
Speaking of news, so Trey Hendrickson will be at work. Tomorrow Sure we'll get some sound out of that. The Major League Baseball trade deadline It's Thursday. And as we approach that, last night. Specifically if you're a fan of I don't know the The Yankees or the Cubs or Philly, anybody looking for some offensive firepower.
Eugenio Suarez And this is this really sucks. It was the top of the ninth inning. This guy is standing there at the plate. And he got popped in the hand. This dude has cracked thirty-six home runs this year.
Has 87 RBIs. He's fourth in home runs in the entire league, all of Major League Baseball. And he's probably the biggest offensive trade ship. for anybody to go out there and pick up. You pretty much damage goods if you got a broken hand.
Well, they gave everybody a little bit of a shock yesterday when he got popped in it. Take a listen to this, courtesy of FDSN.
Sounded like it hit the bat, but he's holding his hand. That doesn't look good. I hope it hit the bat because you can hear that from way up here. Ryan DePanfilo running out there to have a look. Alex McKay, I believe, is awarded of the piece.
They're looking at the finger. Oh, you're looking looking at the finger. And I mean, that noise that you heard right out the gate, that was that guy's hand. He got hit in the hand with a fastball. After the game He spoke to the media.
This is what Suarez had to say about that hand. I gotta touch my and my finger and And I mean a good thing uh right now is uh we we do we do the the X-ray and uh was uh was negative and but we got more tests to do maybe tomorrow and right now you know it's it's it's painful ob obviously. But uh The good news, like I say, is um the X-ray was negative. See after tomorrow wa what else you know they they're gonna do and uh But right now, um I will do my best to try back soon. Yeah, and apparently they did the test today.
Obviously, the sound that you just heard was from last night following the game, by the way, which they lost. One of the reasons why they're trading him D-BAX lost 5-1. They got a record now of 51-56. Eugenio Suarez is going to be a free agent at the end of the season. They already traded Josh Naylor to the Mariners.
They're like, we suck. We ain't gonna pay these guys. Let's move 'em. And they did check out his hand and his finger today. And everything is is is clear.
And so you don't have to worry about trading for damaged goods or a broken guy. If you want to go ahead and bring him on.
So, almost certainly he will be moved between now and Thursday. It's just a matter of. For who?
So where? And what the diamondbacks get back in the process. We're going to have this chat with Levi Weaver. from the athletic. He's going to come through and join us.
In about uh 40 minutes from now. I'm still looking forward to that conversation with Levi. 888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4ISN. Gene, he's calling from Ohio.
You're on the JR Sport Re Show. What's up, Gene? Hey, what's happening? What's going on with you? What's on your mind?
Well, I was just gonna talk a little bit about the you know, Pete Rose got eliminated By the end MLB for gambling. And they used him you know, as a As a So you do this outside of your League. And you're going to be disciplined for it. Pete Rose played baseball when They didn't make nearly as much money as they make today.
Okay, yeah. You know, these guys gotta go out there and think they're gonna make a extra hundred dollars or whatever.
Well, go to the race track or go to the casino. Every town that these people play in They have a casino. Not really. But but what's your what's your overall point, uh, Gene? The point is, if they start forgiving these guys.
We're doing Exactly what he did. Forty years ago than He should still be in the Hall of Fame. Oh, well, it will still be. He'd have to get there first. And I think we may be years or maybe even decades away.
From that, still happening. And thank you, Gene, for calling from Ohio. We're going to get more into the gambling later on in the show. Because it doesn't even really matter if it's baseball or if it's basketball. Or football, we've certainly seen plenty of players get popped in that regard.
Uh Jamison Williams got suspended for for for gambling. It happens and it will continue to happen. But one thing that you can't allow if you're a professional sports, I mean every single league. Every single commissioner. There is so much money in gambling.
So much, billions and billions of dollars in additional revenue that hasn't even been cracked yet. What you can't do is is go out and and have people's confidence waver. about the authenticity and the integrity of the game. Because if you just start letting everybody kind of do what they want, Kind of play along with a line to make money, it goes from being Major League Baseball, the NFL, the NBA, the NHL. It just turns into the WWE.
Like, why am I going to have faith in the product? Why am I going to put my money on the line for a product? That is basically out here hustling me. That is not real. You know, I can't bet on and maybe you can.
But you can't sit around and bet on the over-under for a wrestling match. You can't come through and go, is this guy going to win or is this guy going to lose? Because it's scripted. It's entertainment. It's not.
Real in that regards. And I mean, the ass whoopings that they take and the injuries are very much real. But when you have a predetermined result, And you have individuals who are influencing the outcomes of games and matches. That That is beyond damaging. And there is no forgiving anybody about that.
You just screwed yourself. Because if you're screwing up the money, They're gonna tell you So go get screwed. It's really that simple. We'll talk more about the gambling stuff later on in the show. We got an NBA player pop for writing bad checks.
It's a wild world out here. We got NBA players investigated. We got baseball guys investigated. We got a lot going on. We're going to talk more about Trey Hendrickson on the other side of the break.
And then also, how about this Arch Manning in the news? For what?
Well, he didn't do nothing. Just playing football. I'll explain. The JR Sport preshow, the Infinity Sports Network.
