Well, that's.
Well, you can do that too. There's so many things. This is what I do on my house. But it's Sirius 375. If you have a smart speaker, Ask it to play the Infinity Sports Network.
Yeah, there's so many different ways you can listen to this show. It's kind of crazy. I'm in my house and I'll tell it to play. Infinity, or be like, do you want to listen on Odyssey? Do you want to listen on Sirius?
Do you want to listen here? Do Odyssey, okay?
So many options. Anyway. In a few minutes I'm going to share with you a top six list. Of the best quarterbacks that we have seen in the NFL over the last twenty-five years, And we've done a lot of talking about quarterbacks today. Russell Wilson been named quarterback one.
Of the New York Giants. Daniel Jones getting first team reps with the Indianapolis Colts. We talked about Shador Sanders. Quarterback competition is in pencil right now. in Cleveland, Ohio.
We got Tuatonga-Valoa. Tuatonga-Valoa is, well, he's a quarterback. We don't know how much longer for Miami. But he's basically saying that Tyree Kill needs to repair relationships in Miami. We talked about TJ Watt, not a quarterback.
He says, Yeah, I know I I haven't had a playoff victory. Yeah, I know I got one sack. in four games. A TJ Watt. He's like, I'm making a lot of money.
I need to do better. Talked about Deion Sanders visiting his son Shiloh. Dan Wolkin joined us to talk college football from USA Today. If you missed any minute or second of the show, Hit rewind. On the Free Odyssey app.
There's so many ways to listen. Yeah, bacha, I confused myself because I can talk to all the stupid machines I have in my house. They will play every and anything. I am a and I don't I hope I think I'm paying for all of this some type of way. I have Amazon music.
I have Apple music. Obviously, I have Odyssey, the app. Thank God that's free. I don't got to pay nothing for that. And then I have an Alexa and I feel like Alexa plays all of it.
Yeah, Alexa comes with a little bit of Amazon music. But Apple Music might all. I don't understand how Alexis do it. They kind of just go to both apps, and if you have an account, Goes to it.
So if you have an account, I guess it plays free music there. It asks you. I I it asked you. It asked you which one you want to play it on. If I asked for a radio station, it asked me, Hey, where do you want to listen to?
I'd tell it. Not that it makes a difference to me, but uh It it tells you plays everything. Plays Sirius. I pay for Sirius XM. I'm paying for too much.
Bacha, you gotta tell me how I can uh Buck the system, right? You're gonna tell me? Uh If I knew a way to get certain things I would I wouldn't be saying them on air.
Okay. Fine, okay, no taken. I'm paying for everything, and I will pay for everything. I'm a legal upstanding individual. I was talking about which device, of course?
Anyway. We've had a lot of conversations about QBs. And yesterday we talked about a bunch of individuals that decided to retire over the past few days. Tyron Matthew decided to look at the New Orleans Saints in their quarterback room. He said, I'm out, I'm retiring.
And Jimmy Graham is going on uh WORLD EXPEDITIONS He's also a pilot. He says, I'm out. And then we had Philip Rivers. Who hasn't played an NFL game in years? Even at 43 years old, right now, I guess he always thought that there might be an opening.
Philip Rivers said. I'm out. I'm retiring. I am. Done.
And we got a lot of calls on that. Because I think Philip Burvis had a great career. I don't think he's a Hall of Famer. I think Philip Rivers would be in the hall. Of good.
That's it. I don't care about his longevity, but when it comes to his overall success and his peers, I don't think he matches up in that category. I think he's in the the next tier. And so it got me thinking, for all the names that were mentioned yesterday and people who were brought up. I said, you know what?
Screw it.
So today is Wednesday, or tomorrow is going to be Wednesday. I'm going to give a new top six list. And I want to make it very clear, as I was asked about a few quarterbacks and what I think about them. I want to make it very clear now. I'm going to make it very clear tonight, this evening, this afternoon.
About who the best quarterbacks in the NFL have been. Over the past twenty five. Yeah. Years. It's not that complicated.
If I look at the past twenty five years, Who have been the best QBs, who are the most accomplished, who are the best of the best. And I'm just looking at the totality. of their careers. Flatten period. What have they accomplished?
Would I go into a big game with them? Am I comfortable with it? Who am I rolling with? It's a combination of it all.
So without wasting any more time, And here's a spoiler. Philip Burvis is not on this list. It's time for a top six list. of quarterbacks in the NFL. Over the last twenty five years let's go.
Six, five, four, three.
So One. It's time to get JR's latest top six list. only on the JR Sport Brief. It is the JR Sport Brief Show here with you, coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. We're taking a look at the top six quarterbacks in the NFL over the last 25 years, and it's a countdown.
Which means we got a ways to go before we get to number one. But it means that we start with this number right here. Number six. Number six, top six quarterbacks over the last 25 years. To begin the list, we are going to Pittsburgh PA.
We are going to the man who was.
Well, he was one of the quarterbacks drafted in 2004, not Phillip Rivers. Also, not Eli Manning. It's Ben Roffelsberger. Come on. He was drafted 11th.
The man was the offensive rookie of the year. Yet he had a great defense around him, but he also didn't give the ball away. Not at the rate you would expect from a rookie. They went fifteen and one that year. He had 17 touchdowns to 11 interceptions.
He ended up with two Super Bowl rings over the Seahawks, over the Cardinals. Man, by the time he got to the end of his career, he was out there bombsing away like 4,000-plus yards. Ben Rofflesberger was letting it. fly and he always let it fly. When they let him Or even when you tried to bring him down.
You know, the guy who coached him in his first couple of seasons before Mike Tomlin took over. was Bill Coward. and Bill Cower. He was on Rachel Ray's show when Ben Roethlisberger retired a few seasons ago after the 2021 season, after 18 seasons. And Bill Cowell was like, man, you could watch that guy.
He would get hit and he would still be out there trying to throw that rock. He was tough as nails and he's big as hell. Listen to this.
Well, you know, his career, when you talk about it, has just been phenomenal. Yes, I only had him for three years, but He's been there for 18 years and really embodies what everything a Pittsburgh Steeler is, you know, grit, determination, and toughness. And that's who he is. And you think about Ben, you think about the fourth quarter. You think about Ben, you think about extending the play.
People hanging on him, yet he's still trying to throw the football at a big guy. Yeah, he was six foot five and God only knows how much he weighed. There's somebody else who had to try to tackle him. Marcus Spears, he was having a chat with Dan Patrick. And he says, Man, I remember trying to hit that guy basically his whole career, his whole life.
He's just tough. Listen to what Marcus Spears had to say. Funny story, I played Ben when I was at LSU. We played Miami, Ohio when Ben was in college. And I remember Nick Sabin telling us, hey, this guy's going to be a top pick.
He's a very good football player and he's big.
So you better bring all you have when you get in there to get him on the ground.
So Ben has been like this. DP, people look at the game and they wonder why Ben can't move because Ben has taken hits from guys the same size as him for a long time. Oh, yeah, Ben Rothelsberger. Yeah, you see him moving at the end of a game, it's like, damn, bro. I know that they uh They had to use every piece of equipment and treatment for that man.
You want to talk about one of the best quarterbacks over the last 25 years? I have Ben Roethlisberger. at number six on my list. What's next? Number five.
Oh, this dude was supposed to be washed up in trash. This dude was supposed to be nothing. He ended up being one of the best quarterbacks of all time, really. Ended up winning a Super Bowl. At number five.
I got you. Drew Breeze. This man ended up playing 20 years, 15 years with the Saints after the Chargers were just like, ah, yeah, no thanks, we're gonna move on. After Miami, and Miami was just like, no, your shoulder is cooked. We don't want you.
Go elsewhere. He goes to the Saints, wins a Super Bowl. 13-time Pro Bowler, Super Bowl champ over the Colts in 2010. He was an Iron Man himself. He wasn't the biggest guy out there.
But he would take a look in and other times he'd be like, you know what, I'm so smart. I'm just gonna get the ball the hell up on out of here. Drew Brees. was amazing. Second to Tom Brady.
in yards all time. Like Drew Brees got the job done without a shadow of a doubt. One of the best quarterbacks over the past 25 years. I have him at number five on the list, which says a lot about the guys I have. in front of him.
I want you to listen to him actually talk to a man. that he beat in that Super Bowl. This is Pat McAfee. From years ago, almost a decade ago, Pat McAfee having a chat with Drew Brees. About winning that Super Bowl and beating those Colts, listen to what Drew Brees had to say about that experience.
That's your dream, right? As a professional football player, is to have that opportunity and to be able to share that with our son, Balin, who was only one year old. I remember you're holding him up there like Simba. I remember. It was a Lion King situation.
It was incredible. It was incredible. We're, you know, once you experience that and taste it, I mean, there's nothing like it, and that's all you can think about.
So that's the drive, that's where the hunger comes from. And man, let's go get another one. Man. But forget that. How about somebody?
Who was with him? How about how about Chase Daniel? Chase Daniel, his backup quarterback. They used to play together. You talk about being competitive?
Chase Daniels said that Drew Brees was competitive about everything. Drew is the most competitive person that I know, other than me. We're in full pads in Louisiana. It's 100 degrees out there at 7 a.m. We're practicing.
Drew's like, let's compete. From drill to drill, we'd run. Who can touch the bag first? We would have a competition on who could have the lowest body fat percentage. In the offensive coordinator's room, there'd be a DB and a CD, and it would have each and every week body fat percentage.
I mean, written so small, and people would come into the room like, What are you guys doing? Who could make the best smoothie? He thought he would make the best smoothie on the team. It's just innate in him where it's like, hey, it's not good enough to be the freaking best quarterback in the world at the time. He's got to compete at everything he does.
Damn body body fat? That's what you call Pat Raleigh would love that. Most everybody on the Miami Heat have a low body fat percentage. Damn, that is competitive. Damn.
I got Drew Brees number five on my list. Top six quarterbacks over the last 25 years. Drew Brees is five. Where are we going next? Number four.
This guy might be a little nutty. Might be a pain in the ass. But he is one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. His name is Aaron Rodgers. Oh man, at his peak, at his prime He was my favorite quarterback to watch.
He was. This man was capable of rolling out. He was capable of completing passes. He did it at a high clip. Four M V P A Super Bowl champion MVP.
The most you can say about him is he only won one Super Bowl. And in the postseason, sometimes, maybe in his latter years, he got a little too. Just uh conservative. But there's no denying Aaron Rodgers. Pinpoint passes, getting the ball down the field, the Hail Marys, the rollouts, the picking up the yards.
He was fun. To watch, he's still fun to watch. Hopefully, he's fun to watch for the Pittsburgh Steelers. There's no doubt Aaron Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks the NFL has ever seen, especially over the past 25 years.
Someone who used to be on the receiving end of his passes. is James Jones. And he did not play and did not play. About Aaron Rodgers and his career. This is what he had to say.
on FS1. Yes, Aaron Rodgers has one Super Bowl ring. And if you're just going strictly off of Super Bowl rings and you're saying multiple Super Bowl rings and you're telling me the Eli Mannings and people like that can sit at the table and Aaron Rodgers can't. You absolutely crazy. Aaron Rodgers is one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play this game.
From winning from talent, from everything. People, when people talk about Aaron Rodgers, they talk about him just because he only has one Super Bowl appearance, like the other stuff he accomplished don't matter. Like for me, like the man is a four-time MVP, a Super Bowl MVP. Like, what are we talking about? And then when you go to the talent of the quarterback spot, like for me, I look at this quarterback stuff different.
Yes, Super Bowls matter, but it's not the only thing that matters to me because I believe Dan Marino should be at that table too. Because I don't think none of them quarterbacks is like Dan neither and Dan don't have a Super Bowl ring. I go off of the talent of the quarterback and I don't forget what you accomplished.
Well, we know what he accomplished, I told you. Four-time MVP, Super Bowl champ, Super Bowl MVP, massive pain in the ass. but he is one of the best quarterbacks that's ever stepped onto an NFL field. I got Aaron Rodgers at number four on my list. Top six quarterbacks over the last 25 years.
Rodgers is four. And where are we going? Number three. To Payton. Manning.
Yeah, I got Peyton Manning number three on my list. The guy who was drafted number one overall in 1998. Went out there, threw all old interceptions. People are like, this is the guy we got out of Tennessee? Oh, the guy who became a five-time MVP.
The man who won the Super Bowl with the Colts beat him over the Bears in that ugly rain. Then came back as an old man with the Broncos after they had to cut his neck open and smash the Seahawks. Come on, man. Oh no, the Seahawks smashed them those the Panthers they beat, my bad. That was a wild ass woman.
Anyway. We know Peyton Manning standing at the line of scrimmage, yelling a bunch of stuff. Omaha is and Omaha that. He's out there playing chess, chess. Everybody else is playing.
Checkers. And one of his greatest adversaries is one of his best friends. It's Ray Lewis. Ray Lewis actually was at an event and told a story about facing Peyton Manning and how great he was. How much Peyton Manning prepared.
It made Ray Lewis say, I need to prepare the same damn way. Listen to this story that Ray Lewis told. One of the funniest stories ever. 97, we go to the Pro Bowl at my second Pro Bowl. Peyton comes in his first year.
And as I'm walking in the Pro Bowl, I'm coming through the lobby, and there's this white woman sprinting right towards me. And I'm saying to myself, This is not gonna end well. And by the time she gets up to me, it's Ashley, his wife, right? And she comes up and she says, My husband knows everything about you. I'm telling you, he built the theater in his house and he watches you every day.
And I'm like, What the freak? Are you kidding me? Are you serious? She was like, Yeah, I'm serious. The next week.
I built the video conference center in my house. Because if he's studying me that much, I gotta study him just as much as he studies me. He's one of my closest friends, man, and we talk all the time.
So Peyton is a great guy, hell of a warrior.
Well that's cool. In order to be an NFL Hall of Famer, you gotta be a sicko. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Gotta look at that film. Peyton Manning, number three on my list.
Top six quarterbacks over the past 25 years. How the hell could Peyton Manning? Be number three on a list. It's easy 'cause I have this guy. At this number.
Number two. It's Patrick. Mahomes. Oh yeah, easy, easy. If you gotta look at the totality of Peyton Manning's career.
Without a shadow of a doubt, he's more accomplished at this point in time. than Patrick Mahomes. But what Patrick Mahomes has done Before he has even hit the age of 30, he won't turn 30 until September. Happy almost birthday, Patrick Mahomes. I'm trying not to rush us out this summer, but it'll be here soon.
Three Super Bowl victories. Three Super Bowl MVPs. Five Super Bowl appearances. Two NFL MVPs, six Pro Bowls, the youngest guy to win NFL MVP, Super Bowl MVP. I could go on and on, youngest guy to do this, that, and the third.
I think he's shown and proven. That he is obviously not definitely one of the top quarterbacks over the past 25 years, but I have him in front of Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers and all these guys just based on what he's accomplished already. He's not done. It says a lot about his greatness, what he's been able to do right out of the gate. And someone who understands that is no one other than Peyton Manning.
Peyton Manning spoke to Stephen A. Smith not too long ago. and Peyton Manning explained why Patrick Mahomes is awesome. The best thing I can say about Patrick Mahomes is he still likes to be coached. He wants you to coach him hard and be honest with him.
I mean, Andy Reid coaches him hard. Andy Reid came from Green Bay. Mike Holgren, he coached Brett Favre hard. He told him, hey, no, that's not the Reed, Brett. Don't throw it there.
Throw it out of bounds, right? And quarterbacks need to be coached hard. And Andy Reid coaches Patrick Mahomes hard, and that's good for Patrick. That's bad for NFL defenses. Yeah, Patrick Mahomes is is great.
And is he really done? I mean, they can't go to the Super Bowl every year, but. Let's see how the rest of his career shapes out. What we've seen so far is absolutely Amazing. It's the JR Sport Re Show here with you, coast to coast, on the Infinity Sports Network.
I don't think number one will be too hard to decipher. We're talking about the best quarterbacks in the NFL over the last 25 years. I'll tell you who is number one. on the other side of the brake. Maybe it's a surprise.
It's the chair of sport brief show of the Infinity Sports Network. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief. It is the JR Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. I'm sharing with you a new top six list. We're taking a look at the six best quarterbacks in the NFL.
over the past twenty five years. Philip Rivers said Sayonari said goodbye. He's not getting off his couch. He's not leaving his 55 kids. He's just going to stay at home and coach.
Instead, done for him. People called up and they're like, Oh, Phil Rivers may be a Hall of Famer. I'm like, No, he's not a Hall of Famer. And so today I'm telling you about guys that are in the Hall of Fame or will be in the Hall of Fame. These are the best six quarterbacks in the NFL.
over the past 25 years. I'm going to share with you number one in a second. If you missed it, you can hit Rewind on the free Odyssey app. Go from there. In number six, I gave you Ben Roffelisberger.
and two time Super Bowl champ. The guy was tough as nails, big as hell. Couldn't bring the guy down. The guy that's trying to hit him was smaller than he was. Got Ben Roffelsberg at number six on my list.
Number five, I gave you Drew Brees. You talk about he's the opposite of Ben Rofflesberg. He was also tough as nails, got that ball out of his hand quick as lightning, won himself for Super Bowl over the Colts in 2010. Yeah, he yeah he's his cultural icon. In Louisiana, not even just New Orleans.
And before I gave you Aaron Rodgers, Might be a little crazy, might be a little nutty, might be a little out there. Four-time Super Bowl MVP, or excuse me, that's wrong. He has one Super Bowl championship. That's what he catches flak for. He is a four-time NFL MVP.
And he's still going. I've never seen a guy make some of the passes that he has: the Hail Marys, the throws, the rollouts. Watching Aaron Rodgers in his prime was a It was fun. He was a dream to watch. And number three, I gave you Peyton Manning.
Five-time MVP, two-time Super Bowl champ, did it with the Colts. Did it with the Broncos? Also had that crazy year, I'm gonna be through for like after the surgery, too, after the next surgery, came back and was like. He has almost 5,500 yards and 55 touchdowns like damn Peyton. I'm like, that's what you got in that forehead?
Damn. And number two. Patrick Mahomes. Yeah. I think given what he has done and how fast he has accomplished all of it, Five Super Bowl appearances before he even turns 30.
Three of them wins, and three MVPs, youngest to do that, youngest to do this. I got Patrick Mahomes at number two on my list. Best quarterbacks over the past twenty five years. And that leaves us just uh with only one place to go. And that's here.
Number one.
So the shock and the surprise of absolutely nobody. I have it number one on my list. Tom Brady. I was like, should I say Eli Manning? But no, it's Tom Brady, of course.
Ain't no fooling nobody out here. He's not coming out of retirement. He's 48 years old. He's a minority owner with the Las Vegas Raiders. He got himself a discount.
Three time MVP, seven time Super Bowl champ, five time Super Bowl MVP. I could go on for day days, leader in this, leader in that, yards this, touchdowns that, comebacks, If it's a quarterback stat, Tom Brady is the leader. In it. Picked up six of these titles with the Patriots. Picked up another title with the Buccaneers.
I remember halfway through that season, people were like, oh, Tom Brady's done. Tom Brady's throwing ducks. That man won another Super Bowl and almost threw the Vince Lombardi trophy. Into Tampa Bay, okay? That's what he was throwing, not ducks.
He was not cooked. He was not done. But if there's one thing people appreciated about Tom Brady, whether you played with him or against him or you coached him. It wasn't just his longevity. It was all the guys he played with throughout the course of his career.
And his consistency in making everybody great. Drew Brees was asked about Tom Brady. Before he even got to Tampa Bay, I want you to listen to this interview from like 10 years ago. And everything that Drew Brees said just still rings true today. Listen.
How do you rate Tom Brady among all the quarterbacks in NFL history? He's one of the greatest of all time. There's no question. I mean, this is his sixth Super Bowl, more than any other quarterback. That's about as good as you get.
What does he have? Uh his qualities? He's uh Well, I think if you look at his career, number one, consistency. You know, from year to year, that team knows how to win. I think defensively they've been very consistent in regards to their overall performance.
Obviously, they've had.
some better years than others. I think offensively you've seen a lot of different skill players come through.
So, you know, tight ends, receivers that come for a little while but don't stay long. And that's hard for a quarterback, honestly, to not have that type of continuity.
Now he's been able to have that a little bit with Gronkowski now. But you look at quite a few of the guys and it's not like they've been together for five or six years. They've only been together for maybe a year or two and yet he's able to get on the same page with those guys so quickly.
So that's a testament to him because that takes a lot of time to build that chemistry. And no matter what the supporting cast has been around him throughout his career, he's always seemed to make that work very well. And that's a contemporary. That's another one of the greats in Drew Brees telling you what made Tom Brady great. That's before he even got to Tampa Bay.
I want you to listen to what Bill Belichick said pretty much echoed this statement. Obviously he coached Tom Brady. But listen to what Belichick ended up telling Pat McAfee. This is before Belichick took that job and had that girlfriend announced. Tom was one of our hardest workers as a rookie and he didn't even play.
We had a lot of rookies on the roster. We didn't have any salary cap space, so the team was filled with rookies. And he would take those guys out extra after practice and run through the plays and that type of thing. But he really improved a lot in obviously 2000 to 2001 when he beat out Hewitt for the backup spot. Then from 2001 to 2002, even though the team wasn't as good, Tom took strides as a quarterback 2003, 2004.
So he improved every day for 20 years. But I think the biggest improvement came in the first four years. But he continued to work. The big thing every year was who are the receivers? Who are the tight ends?
Who are the runbacks? How can I make them better? When you get guys like Bronkowski, that's different than Dan Graham and Watson and some of the tight ends we had before that. And we had different receivers, you know, like Randy Moss to Edelman, to Troy Brown. I mean, those guys are all good, but they're all different.
And so how do you learn to use those players? Yeah, look, man. We know Tom Brady is great. All right. Greatest quarterback over the last 25 years, most accomplished quarterback in the Super Bowl era.
Okay. In College. cut scene. Yeah. Seven ten.
For I S N That's 888-710. For ISN. I just gave you. a top six list of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Over the last 25 years.
At number six, I gave you Ben Roethlisberger. At number five, I gave you Drew Brees. At number four, I gave you Aaron Rodgers. At number three, I gave you Peyton Manning. At number two, I gave you Patrick Mahomes.
At number one, I gave you Tom Brady. If you missed the fancy explanations and what not, hit Rewind on the free Odyssey app, but I want to hear from you. Who are some of the best qualities? I think these are the top six. I'm going to tell you about one guy who I had to debate about.
I'm going to tell you who that is on the other side of the break. But the phone lines are open to you. 888-710-4ISN. I don't think there's too much of a debate. But what are your thoughts on my list?
I just told you who the top six Q B's are. over the last twenty five years. And then we'll get the opinions of our producers as well. Ryan Botcher. 888-710-400, but right now?
No opinions. It's time for news. Here he is, Rich Ackerman. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief. No.
Nobody's ever called me that, but thank you. It is the JR Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. 888-710-4ISN is the number. That's 888-710-45. For ISN.
I just gave you a new top six list. Yeah, I gave it away, gave it away now. And number six.
Well, I gave you a top six list of the top quarterbacks in the NFL over the past twenty-five years.
Now that I set that up accurately. And number six I gave you Ben Roethlisberger. At number five I gave you Drew Brees. And number four I gave you Aaron Rogers. Number three I gave you Peyton Manning.
Number two, I gave you Patrick Mahomes. And number one I gave you Tom Brady.
Now There's only really one debate. That I had internally about this list. It's at number six. putting on Ben Roethlisberger in place of Eli Manning. And I think it's it's basically It's a wash.
It's a wash. We know what Eli Manning did in the postseason when he got there. We also know how mediocre he was in the regular season. And so in that regards I just I really wanted to look at consistency. And that is really the only reason that I put Ben Roethlisberger here.
Over Eli Manning. Because I'm a human being. I'm going back and forth and back and forth. And I said, you know what? Just for consistency's sake.
I'm going to put Ben Rofflesberg here. Both guys were tough. Eli Manning went on the streak more than a decade, really, where he never missed a game. A Ben Roethlisberger, known for just standing back there, not giving a damn who was at his knees, his ankles, his waist. He was getting that ball down the field.
He moved. He was deceptive with the football when he decided to move. You wouldn't think a guy that big when he did decide to move. Would be able to get off the line, but Ben Rothlisberger moved. And so Eli Manning is really the only guy.
That I had to go. Hey, do I want to go Eli or Ben? I think as an overall when you look at the the passing stats and numbers and the accuracy, the ability to move, Eli wasn't moving anywhere, really. I put Ben Rofflesberger ahead of Eli, but it's really close to a toss-up. Anything outside of that.
You can argue the order. This is what I have. 888-710-4ISN That's eight eight eight seven ten. For ISN, we're talking about the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Over the past twenty five years We have Alan.
Of course. Alan calling from Toronto. Alan, please take a deep, deep breath. You're on the JR Sport Brief show, Alan. Yes, sir.
I sure will. Kurt Borner, 12-year NFL career. This is going to put a smile on Mike Martz's face. He got a very late start, but he played primarily with St. Louis and Arizona.
He was with a chief. Giants in 2008. Yeah. two-time MVP, And the greatest show on turf, I'll always remember that too, Super Bowl XXXIV, thirty four I guess it is. and talk about a Cinderella story.
This man's Made. Cinderella seemed like a a sad story, and he was the Walter Payton MVP Man of the Year. And then he had 11 TDs in the 2008 postseason tied with Joe Flacco and Patrick Mahomes and Joe Montana. And he spent four years in purgatory. Nobody wanted him.
He signed with Green Bay in 1994 and never could find himself there.
So it's uh you know Like I said, it's uh it made Cind Cinderella seem like a sad story.
Well, we know that his story was certainly made into a movie. We we heard about him in bagging groceries ad nauseum. And Kurt Warner is a great guy. He's always been great to talk to here on this show. Um I didn't give Kurt Warner a thought.
You know, I think he was kind of right on that line, that Y2K line. I mean, basically, when they won the Super Bowl, they went from, that was 99 season, I believe, and they won it in the year. A 2000 and any Had a break and nobody wanted him after that after all the injuries. and then he got a second lease at life later on in his career. With the Arizona Cardinals, who got actually got beat by Ben Rofflessberger's team.
So he didn't come to mind because of that gap. There's no doubt that he's a Hall of Famer given his accomplishments: an MVP this, MVP that, Super Bowl appearance here, greatest show on turf. You can't tell that. It seemed like Kurt Warner was uh He was a transitional character. He was a great transitional character.
As we move from the 90s into the 2000s, we know that he won that Super Bowl, and then a couple of years later, he goes back and he loses. to Tom Brady, who picked up his first in any Kind of disappeared a little bit after having a couple of great seasons. And then he came back later with Arizona.
So. His storybook without a shadow of a doubt. I'm glad you brought up Kurt Warner. He didn't come to my mind at all, Alan. And I think a big portion of that.
comes down to just the the longevity of it, you know? And Josh Allen. And Lamar Jackson, I guess they're just too small a sample size. I would have put them in there, but these, you know, they're too funny and they'll have a lot to prove, don't they? Wait, yeah, Alan.
So you're telling me. over the past twenty five years. You would throw a Josh Allen and a Lamar Jackson onto the list over who? Ben Roffin's broke. They'll be ready to go.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
So, yeah, forget him. Forget 'em.
Well, thank you, Alan. Appreciate you, man. Yeah, great. Show, thank you very much for taking my call, J.R.
Well, thank you so much for calling from Toronto. Yeah, man, if I got to start thinking about the best quarterbacks over the past 10 years, then without a shadow of a doubt. You know, Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen, they're they're hitting the list. Mr. MVP, both of them, in the case of Lamar Jackson, missed the multiple times.
MVP, but if I'm thinking about the past 25 years, no sorry. No. Not yet. Eight, eight, eight. seven ten four I S N That's 888.
4ISN. Zach is calling from Michigan. You're on the JR Support B Show. What's up, Zack? Hey, JR.
I was just uh But hello? Oh. Botcha, he was just what? He got abducted by aliens. What happened?
He got scared, I guess. But he was going to say that Drew Brees deserves to be higher than Aaron Rodgers and Peyton Manning on the list. Oh my God. And will we ever find out why? Did he tell you or is he coming back?
No, hopefully, he calls back. Damn. Because I can't. defend putting him over Payton. Maybe you could get over Rogers just because of I don't know.
Crazy? Craziness. Yeah, but throw that out the window. I I think Aaron Rodgers He could mo uh he could move and do things. that Drew Brees could not.
Like Drew Brees was amazing in his own right. But I just think that Aaron Rodgers, just strictly as a player and as an athlete. I I I think he was better than Drew Brees. Four MVPs too.
Well, that's that.
Well, yeah, MVPs, if you're just looking at stats, I'm looking at what he was capable of doing on a football field. Drew Brees. wasn't moving around. like Aaron Rodgers was. at all.
Eight eight eight seven ten four ISN. 888-710. four I S N. Just gave you a top six list. Taking a look.
Some of the top quarterbacks in the NFL over the last 25. years. I'm looking at their accomplishments. Looking at their longevity. Looking at there there there.
Ultimate goal, did you win a ring? 888-710-4ISN. Matt is calling from Buffalo. You're on the JR Sport Re Show. What's up, man?
Okay, Joe. I'm excellent. How are you? Mm-hmm. Pretty good.
Um I just want to you know, not necessarily push back a little bit against the Josh Allen. because I obviously am a little bit of a homer, but Something to keep in mind is that Josh Allen is the most productive player on a per game basis in the history of the NFL. Not only in the regular season but also in the postseason. He leads Ciana Powell all time. in touchdowns per game.
in both regular and postseason. And he also shattered Peyton Manning's record for the most touchdowns in eight in eight the first eight seasons of career. In six and three-quarter seasons.
Okay. So tell me, tell me what has he won so far, Matt?
Okay. Well, thanks to the defense, not much, but. Oh, okay.
Okay, all right. I'm just making sure I missed anything. I can pull all the statistics out of my behind, but uh. I think everybody that I mentioned has done a, has done something that he hasn't as win. Yeah.
I mean, I'll give you that, but I think when you play the games, I think the most important thing that you want to do is. Just go ahead and go out there and win.
Well, thank you, Matt. Yeah. Damn, Matt. Damn. Damn.
Is it the winter? You're already windy? Nah, he's driving a monster truck down the road. Damn. Give them a break out there, okay?
Damn. It might be it's Buffalo, it might be winter. Possibly. Eight eight eight seven ten four I S N That's 888-710-4ISN. I'm thinking about totality.
I don't give a damn about what fancy stats you have. Winning. Like, people go out there and play sports to win. The quarterback is the most important guy on the team, and yes, he can't go out there and do it all.
Okay, this has nothing to do with the past 25 years, but Dan Marino ain't winning no championship. We know he's one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. But I think to to look in a silo over the past twenty five years, If I have to look at accomplishments, research Longevity. Talent. If I have to put it all together and go, Man, who are the best QBs?
Yeah, Josh Allen is not on the list. He's not. He's not. Lamar is not there either. I'm not telling if I wanted to do most electrifying quarterbacks, then Lamar would be on the list.
If I wanted to talk about most accomplished, I could put one of the two of them on there. But I'm talking about the best. Who won? Who has accomplished the most? Who's the most talented?
But ultimately I will put winning over all. 888. Seven ten four I S N That's 888-710-4ISN. Who are some of the best quarterbacks over the past 25 years? It's J.R.
Sport reshort. I'll move.
Okay.
