Ah That's the sound of James adding long-lasting gain scent boosters to his laundry this morning. Several hours later, James sniffs the irresistible scent of gain on his shirt. Mm-hmm. Ah, gain. Several hours later, James has even caught the attention of his mother-in-law, and she never gives him attention.
Oh, you smell amazing, James. Oh, thanks, Mom. I love you too. I never said that. Add gain sump boosters to your laundry.

I am everywhere. At JR sport brief.
Now, every single Wednesday We do a new top six list. No, don't be confused. Today is not Wednesday, it is still Monday. But over the weekend, And over the past several days, matter of fact, ESPN has released Its own list. Especially 's been doin' this for a few years now.
They have spoken to NFL executives and scouts and coaches. And they've compiled lists. that basically rank the top ten players in each respective position. And so we finally got to the quarterbacks over the weekend. And so we got a top ten list from ESPN that pretty much takes a look, at the best quarterbacks in the game, as told by the people behind the scenes who make decisions, the execs, the coaches and the scouts.
And I want to share with you that this top ten list, and I'm going to ask our producer, Ryan Botcher, if anything stands out to him. And so I'm not going to go the way of Bacha. Shall I do a traditional countdown 10 to 1, or should I just go down a den list? 1 to 10? Josie, I would go from top.
number one to ten, because I think we all know who number one is.
Okay, and so we got Patrick Mahomes at one. He's the highest-ranked quarterback. At number two, we have Josh Allen. Not a surprise, your reigning MVP. Number three, we have Joe Burrow, who, if he didn't play on the Cincinnati Bengals, if they had a defense worth a damn, well, he'd probably be MVP last year.
Lamar Jackson is at number four. them multiple times. MVP, almost close to winning it three times last year. At number five. Jaden Daniels, yeah, after his rookie season.
NFL executives look at Jaden Daniels and say this is the fifth best quarterback in the entire NFL. And I think given what he can do with his arm and his legs and the fact that he almost became the first rookie to lead a team to the Super Bowl says a lot. Matthew Stafford At thirty seven years old here. Is number six? At number seven you have Justin Herbert, still trying to find some playoff success.
And number eight, Jarrett Garf. Eighth Best Quarterback per executives in the NFL. At number nine, you have Jalen Hurts. And number 10? You have Baker Mayfield.
Damn. That is your list. When it comes down to executives, Coaches and scouts. Those are the top quarterbacks. in the NFL.
Botcher Anything on that list stand out to you? the Jalen Hurts disrespect. Guy just won the Super Bowl, and granted, he's not thrown touchdowns, he still scores a whole lot. Yeah, I would agree. Having Jalen Hurts at number nine, that's what stood out to me as well.
Having him behind Jared Goff, and I get it, Matthew Stafford is accomplished. And I also understand Justin Herbert. If I got to think about a guy who can win. I'm going to take Jalen Hurts over Justin Herbert, and I'm definitely going to take him over Jared Goff. And so to think that Jalen Hurts, who's already been to two Super Bowls, Just one one is just, I don't want to say a model of consistency.
You know what you're going to get. I think the only reason I think you mentioned it, Bacha, the reason why Jalen Hurts is here at nine, is because he hasn't had to lead an offense. Where he's tasked with just delivering the ball down the field all the damn time. But if you strictly want to look at winning, Why wouldn't Jalen Hurts be higher up here on the list. Jared Goff has more experience.
Jared Goff is been to a Super Bowl, has lost a Super Bowl. Justin Herbert, we all know he's good, but I'm waiting for him to not choke in a big game. And so to see uh Jalen hurts here. That that part is surprising. I would have him above Both Jared Goff and Herbert.
I feel like the coaches and executives might have looked at this and just looked at it as potential, really. Yeah, but then at the same point potential Are you really going to have A guy like I don't know. You would say Matthew Stafford at the end of his career up there. like potential for this season. Instead of looking like guys that potentially could be great, like Caleb Williams, granted he was horrible last year.
But I don't know, Brock Purdy. You think Caleb Williams was horrible? He wasn't horrible, but he wasn't up to expectations, to say the least. Oh, well, yeah, for number one, but I mean, 20 touchdowns and six interceptions. Yeah, I'm not going to call that horrible.
But if you look at this list, too, you have the honorable mentions. They have Jordan Love on there, and he didn't have a great year last year. He was injured and turnover-prone. It's hard to wrap their brain around what they were thinking. Because it's a little bit of both.
It's a little of their production, one. And two, it's potential 'cause you could go with Jane Daniels being top five. I just don't understand what they don't see in Jalen Hurts at this point.
Okay.
Well A winner. And you know, when it comes down to these lists, everybody's going to have their criteria and what they look for and what they expect, and people will grade things. Look, Baker Mayfield is on this list. At number ten overall.
Now Baker Mayfield is good. God bless him. He's found a a good spot in Tampa Bay. He has some great wide receivers. Hopefully, they can stay healthy this upcoming season.
I mean, damn, Mike Evans, how many more times can he pull a hamstring in his leg and still go out there and play? I look at Bacon Mayfield as. As a 10-15 quarterback, they put him right at number 10. I think all things considered, I would want Jordan Love. He had to deal with his own injuries last year, but I put Jordan Love above Baker Mayfield.
And you want to talk about a glaring omission. And I'm not surprised, it's to be expected. There's a quarterback making sixty million dollars a year. And nobody looked at this guy and said You're not on the list? Dak Prescott.
Man is making sixty per. Is not on the list. Botch, I found that, I expect it, but I find that to be hilarious. I think it's because he missed time with the hamstring off the bone. If he would have played the full season.
I think he would have been top ten. You think? Because he collects numbers. He's not a winner, of course, in the playoffs, but he collects passing stats.
So he would 100% be top 10. I don't know about that one. I think people look at him and just go, well, wait, why is he getting paid 60 mil? Because he plays with Jerry Jones. Is it?
That last year too, he was also an MVP candidate. Not realistically, though. Not realistically, but he was good enough to be considered. A r above average quarterback one, and of course the Cowboys waited and they had to pay more.
Well, yeah, the Cowboys are dumb as hell. It's just hilarious to me that the guy making the most money at the quarterback position, making $60 per a year, can't even. Can't even sniff the top 10. And you're right, he's not on the list due to injury. Uh but overall, it's just uh Dallas Cowboys are going to Dallas Cowboys.
Without a shadow of a doubt, we still have Lamar Jackson here. I don't think he is. kind of miscast. We had a caller from Baltimore hit us up earlier in the show. and asked about the Ravens and um what else needs to be done.
No, bruh, the Ravens don't need to do anything else. But win a Super Bowl. That's it. Like, there's nothing else for Lamar Jackson to do, but before they even get to the Super Bowl, they got to go to an AFC championship game. And then they have to go to the Super Bowl.
And so, I mean, when it comes down to the Ravens, the guy called, he's like, Hey, you know, where's the weakness? Like, what do we need to correct? I don't know, turnovers of the postseason? I mean, is that a possibility? Can that get done first?
So Lamar Jackson is here at four. Joe Burrow at three. Got Josh Allen at number two. Not a surprise, Mr. MVP.
And then you have Patrick Mahomes at. at number one. And you talk about numbers. I mean, he didn't have the best season last year. Almost four thousand yards passing.
twenty six touchdowns. in eleven interceptions. When you think about his offensive line, we think about the offensive weapons, we think about fat Travis Kelsey. Yeah, Patrick Mones didn't have the best year, and he got to the Super Bowl, and, well, that was just a. That was a mess to watch.
Flattened period.
So Patrick Mahomes is still number one. Uh big disappointment. And then we know. that ultimately Patrick Mahomes, he's I'm not saying he's chasing Tom Brady. But Patrick Mahomes is he's on the Mount Rushmore.
of quarterbacks, and he spoke to the media Well, up in Adams, just what, last week? And he was asked about whether or not he is needs to show up, show out, and go on a revenge tour. Listen to what he said. You know, I'm honestly just ready to play football again. Whenever you lose, you kind of have this taste in your mouth that you want to go out there and revenge that or whatever you want to say.
But at the same time, I feel like I've had to sit back and just listen to people talk and talk. And I'm like, let's just play football and just handle it all out there. And I don't really want to talk about it. I just want to go out and show who we are as a Kansas City Chiefs. Yeah.
Aren't we aren't we all waiting to see what the Kansas City Chiefs do? I mean, there there's there's a here we are It's july fourteenth. I can't believe we how the hell did we get here? We got rookies who are getting ready to show up for training camp. in a few days.
Botcher. We have preseason games. In like three weeks. That's good. I I'd I'd say earlier starts the better.
Like, how the hell did we get here? I felt like we were months away. We were just in mandatory camp and non-mandatory camp and. All of a sudden here we are. We're like The S B's is this week.
We got the home run derby getting ready to kick off. We're gonna blank and this is going to be uh Yeah, we're going to be right in the midst of a football season. But when it comes down to the Chiefs, Obviously some big questions. How much does Travis Kelsey have left in the tank? Rashi Rice, I mean, what is he going to look like coming off of his knee injury?
You know, i is the offensive line going to be able to keep Patrick Mahomes standing upright? As long as they have Patrick Mahomes, we know the Kansas City Chiefs are gonna be in in competition. There's no uh doubt or or surprise about that. Uh less see what he does. You know, he's not going to fall off the cart.
I expect a better season than what we got last year. especially with uh his weapons returning and maybe In the case of Travis Kelsey, hopefully maybe better than he was. last year. eight eight eight seven ten four ISN That's eight eight eight seven ten four I S N.
Meanwhile, right here in Atlanta, Georgia, right up the road from me. And they just did the Star Spangled Banner. Put all the players up on these rising stars, daises. And we're getting ready for the home run, Derby. That Bacher is not excited about, that Marco Belletti is not excited about, and then I also go.
Okay.
What's the big deal here? Yeah. I think it's star related. Botcher, if we weren't here right now in the studio well, you're in New York, I'm in Atlanta. Would you be sitting round is this appointment T V for you?
Considering there's nothing else on sports wise, Damn. I would have it on. Yeah I'd be debating. Should I watch it if the Brooklyn at Summer League team was on? And that's bad.
Yeah. You would choose Summer League. NBA Summer League overwatching a home run derby? For my favorite team and the rookies I would Yes, I would have a h a a hard conversation with myself. Would I rather do split screen or just choose Summer League?
Damn. All right, well, I got you. I mean, outside of the curio the initial curiosity, For watching a home run derby. There's no names that I care about. I would see what Cal Raleigh does, and after that, I'd probably tap out.
But, hey, we'll be right here in the studio. Paying attention as to everything that's going on. I got no choice.
So if you want to call up. Number here is 888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4. 4ISN. Major League Home Run Derby is minutes away from getting its start right here in Atlanta, Georgia.
We'll keep you up to date once they gets to swinging. Matter of fact, when we come back on the other side of the break, I want to tell you about a a couple of individuals swingin', for some more money.
Well, one guy got his money. and the other guy he's looking. I'm going to tell you what wide receivers looking for their cash. It's the JR Sport Brief Shop, Coast to Coast, on the Infinity Sports Network. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief.

Three home runs so far. Yeah, well, I'm not giving you every single home run. Of course, that'd be absolutely stupid. I'm not supposed to, but anyway. We'll keep you up to date the best way that we can with a home run derby.
Speaking of news, there is some news that broke today. I guess two. One wide receiver in the NFL is happy, and the other wide receiver is not happy. Let's take a listen to the wide receiver. who got paid courtesy of CBS Sports, HQ.
We've got breaking news out of the NFL. The Jets and wide receiver Garrett Wilson have agreed on a four-year, $130 million extension. That's according to multiple reports. The deal includes $90 million guaranteed and makes him the fifth highest paid receiver in AAV. Since getting drafted 10th overall in 2022, he's played in every game and gained at least 1,000 yards each season.
Yeah. Well, I mean, Garrett Wilson, just what he did last season, I'm not going to say pretty amazing for the New York Jets. They needed to pass the ball a whole hell of a lot to get the ball down the field. A running game was not adequate. 1,100 yards, seven touchdowns for Garrett Wilson.
That was on the receiving end of passes from Aaron Rodgers last year.
Now what is this going to look like with Justin Fields as a starting quarterback? Nobody knows. Yeah, like nobody knows. We can all sit around and take a look at Justin Fields and. how great he looks and all the positive things you hear in in the off season.
Who looks bad in the off season? Does anybody ever come out and do we get reports about how terrible somebody is? The answer is no. And so what Justin Fields does with Garrett Wilson, uh, you know, how they go ahead and and connect with the New York Jets is is to be seen. I mean, unless they want to go ahead and throw it back to the Ohio State University, we're going to have to see.
what this looks like. It's what Justin Fields had to say about connecting with his old buddy from Buckeye Nation. I'm excited for that and of course things that we can do to help get each other better, just get back on the same page as we were in college and of course communicate, make sure we're always on the same page when it comes to concepts and routes and what he's doing in certain situations. But yeah, I'm definitely excited to be back on the field with him for sure. Yes, so now Garrett Wilson is making thirty two point five million dollars a year.
The New York Giant the New York Giants, the New York Jets have him connected and hooked up under contract for the next six years. He's going to be under contract until twenty thirty. Unless he wakes up one day and says I won't be here no more. Not the first time, won't be the last time. And I mean, when you start thinking about the New York Jets.
I think every now and then they give a lot of reasons for people to just say, I don't want to be here anymore.
So at least they do have themselves a number one wide receiver. I mean, the Jets haven't had a. Consistent number one since Man, Keyshawn Johnson, who ultimately won it out? Wayne Corbett, whose career was popped due to concussions. I mean, you think about some of the other receivers the Jets have brought in over the years, they've They've been gods that they've had to trade for.
They've been rentals for a couple years at a time. Brandon Marshall is probably the best, most recent wide receiver. He didn't have a long tenure with the New York Jets. Garrett Wilson has a chance and an opportunity It could possibly be the the best Jets wide receiver of all time. I mean, no disrespect to Al Toon, but you think about the numbers that he might accumulate over the next few seasons, he'll certainly be there.
So, congratulations to Garrett Wilson being paid.
Meanwhile, We have a wide receiver who plays out west, He's not happy with his contract. JOWAN JENNINGS. Yeah, from the San Francisco Forty Niners. Last year after basically everybody on the offense was hurt. Joanne Jennings woke up.
And he says, Oh, I got some I got some stats for y'all. Nine hundred and seventy five yards. To go along with six touchdowns. Not bad. I think in a lot of cases that that might get you an appearance.
At the Pro Bowl. And when you think about Jawan Jennings, He's on a two-year contract. $15 million. He signed that contract. last year.
He wants a new deal. He has told the San Francisco Forty Niners I want a new contract. or trade me. You gotta be kidding me. based off of one season, based off of one year.
his career high. before last season in both yards and touchdowns. In his rookie season, he had five touchdowns. That's his career high.
Okay, his yards. Two seasons ago, 2022, he hauled in 416 yards. Just year to year, 282 yards is rookie season. Four sixteen is sophomore year. two hundred and sixty five yards before his breakout season.
So before last year he had 265 yards, and now now we get it. Typically. The San Francisco forty niners have been stacked At offense, you got to get the ball to kittle. You got to go out there and Well, give it to Christian McCaffrey, Debo Samuel, who's now gone. He's in Washington.
You got Brandon Ayuk. And so Jawan Jennings was able to take advantage of all the guys who were missing last year. And now they enter into a space where he knows they're going to ask him to do more. You got Ricky Pearsall, Christian McCaffrey should be back. You still have Kittle out there.
And I just think it's a. It's the wrong time. I don't know who his agent is. Obviously, they think they're gonna get money. I don't think they're gonna get money.
I think they're going to call his bluff on it. Do it again. Like, I get it. You had a career year, now you want to ask for more money, but just do it again. Botcha, do you don't you find odd not to find it odd.
But you could if he goes back And he has another season where he's hauling in three hundred yards. and one touchdown. Like the 49ers look like a bunch of idiots. Like he he had one great season, now all of a sudden they just need to pay him.
Well, you can't blame the guy for trying to get a new deal. He most The fact that he's asking for a trade if he doesn't get a contract is bad. But I'm not gonna blame someone to try to like try to get a pay raise for a great season, and now you have an expanded rule this season.
So I'm not mad at that, it's just there's no consistency like you said. between year to year. And it'd be dumb for a team to give them a deal Especially the Niners who've had to pay everyone in the world the last couple of seasons. Yeah, they've already made a concerted effort to say, Hey, we're gonna go ahead and get younger And I don't find uh it's a packaged thing. It's not so much about how he's looking for a contract.
It's the fact, like you said, he's looking for a contract. And he says if I don't get it from the San Francisco 49ers, then I need to be traded. Like it what what leverage do you have? Like if I'm the 49ers, I'm looking at you going, bruh. You had one good season.
One good season does not mean that all of a sudden now we, the 49ers, just need to come out and pay you what? What do you want? You want 25 a year now? You want 20 a year now?
Well, all of a sudden you've proven to be one of the best wide receivers in the game? I think the answer is hell no. It and Brock Purdy. He just got his damn money.
Okay? Brock Party got paid. And we all had to listen to Lynch tell everybody about how yeah, because uh Brock Purdy got paid, we needed to adjust its salary everywhere else.
Well, Joanne Jennings, bruh, it's not not you? Not you at all. Congratulations, Garrett Wilson, but And Juwan Jennings? Pay me or trade me? Uh I think not.
Just sit down and come to work and play. 888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4ISN. Lee is here from Cincinnati. You on the chair of sport reshow Lee, what's up?
Hey, thanks for taking my call, JR. And I want to say you're absolutely right, except for one exception. You said. Who looks bad in the off season? One guy that I think did, if you remember, way back when, when Jamarcus Russell was pick first in the draft.
Everybody was saying the during the offseason that he was it. a little bit heavy, out of shape, and But he wasn't the person. Yeah. the Raiders draft and then look how he turned out, probably the biggest number one draft big bus of all time. Yeah.
He was fat the whole time, he was just fat? Yep, but that's the thing. Like I said, he is the one player, the one player, like I said, who looked bad in the offseason. And you see what it got him. Went from a number one to a None'n done.
Oh yeah. That's what happened.
Well, thank you, Lee, for calling from Cincinnati. Yeah, well, the Raiders. The Raiders took him and he just like whatever. And I still think to this day. He has said if he's the bust, he'll be the biggest bust.
Or, how can he be a bust? He's made so much money. Whatever. Yes, Jamarcus.
Well, we could think about a lot of guys who get big in the off season. Hey, Bacha, did you see the photos? All the Bran Jordan athletes were in Athens, Greece. Did you see Zion? I did.
He seemed a little short, but I don't know if that's 'cause he's standing behind a bunch of tall athletes too, like Muka Dantrich. Is You looked at you thought you looked at Zion and said he looks short? Compared to Luca and the way they took the picture too, it's in like 0.5 zoom. It didn't help.
Okay, all right. I was more so referring to his weight, not his. I think we know how tall he is. What is he, six, seven? Oh, isn't isn't Zion like six four?
He's pretty short. Zion Williamson is not six four, bruh. Let's see. He's six six. Charles Barkley is 6'4.
By the way, he looks pretty short on the picture I saw, but yeah, he didn't seem that out of shape. No, I mean you well, the the point is you can't tell. I mean, is he going to show? Luca has certainly lost weight since the conclusion of the season, and I think he's going to be playing for Slovenia. In a few weeks.
So he should be in shape by the time the NBA season starts back up. But you want to talk about guys in the offseason who are never in shape?
Well, when is Zion ever? in shape, in season, out of season. Early in the season, mid season, uh Zion is uh He's a train wreck. And when he plays, he's one of the best in the league. It's just unfortunate that we I don't think we will ever see him consistently do that.
Untoki probably leaves New Orleans. And that's not a fat food joke. I just think he's he's checked out. I think he's checked out on the Pelicans. I think he's checked out on Louisiana.
And I think he's just buying his time until he can get the helipon out of there.
So. We'll see what happens. 888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4. 4ISN.
Yes, Zion man. If he was actually healthy and in shape, we'd see him dunking on people from Slovenia. But he's not an Olympian because he's never playing. When we come back from break, I want to tell you about some comments made By Mark Cuban. Because Mark Cuban no longer has control over the Mavs.
We know that because of Luca being traded out to Los Angeles. But Mark Cuban sat on a podcast. And he had some uh some some comments that made me kind of roll my eyes about who participates in the Olympics, who can, who can't, and we'll hear what Mark Cuban had to say on the other side. Home run derby is underway. You're listening to the JR Sport Re-Show on the Infinity Sports Network.
And right now it's time for a news flash with Marco Belletti. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief. It is the JR Sport Brief Show here with you, coast to coast, on the Infiniti Sports Network. I need you to thank O'Reilly Auto Parts for all of your car care needs. Get guaranteed low prices and excellent customer service from the professional parts people at O'Reilly Auto Parts.
888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4ISN. Before we went to break, we talked about some NFL players who wanted some contracts.
Well, Garrett Wilson got one. He got an extension from the New York Jets. We'll now pay him $32.5 million over the next several seasons. He'll be a New York Jet. Until twenty thirty at minimum.
And then we talked about Jawan Jennings, who had a career year out of nowhere last year with all the Forty Niners' injuries. And he's asking for a new contract from the Forty Niners, even though he signed one last year. And he's saying the 49ers need to do it. or he is requesting a trade, from San Francisco. I don't know, bruh.
I Try again. Come back next year. Come back in a couple of months and see what you can do. The home run derby is already underway here in Atlanta, Georgia. James Wood has already gone out and hit 16 home runs.
Brent Rooker has hit 17. Junior Caminero, I think he has just come in. at 11, and he's still going.
So let's see what he can do here. in the first round. They got eight guys here in the home run derby. And the top four will go ahead and advance to the next round.
So we'll keep you up to date the best that we can. As the show continues on, I had mentioned Mark Cuban, Had some comments and some thoughts on the Olympics and who can play and who can't play and who should go in. And we'll we'll get to that in a second. 888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4ISN.
Ross is here from St. Petersburg.
Well, the Rays, it looks like they were sold today, so it looks like they'll be staying in the area. Ross, you're on the chair of the sport brief show. What's on your mind? Hey, JR, thanks for taking my call. Yeah, happy to hear that the raid is going to come out from under Su Sternberg's terrible ownership.
I'm excited to see what Junior Camonero can do tonight. Although I'm not holding my breath. Um, called in because uh I agree with your last point about Zion Williamson. I think he is checked out of New Orleans and Louisiana. The only thing he's not checked out of is thick IG thirst traps.
And until he quits that, he'll never be a Jeep or a real player. Thank you. Take my call. Have a good night. Damn.
Thank you, Ross, for calling from St. Pete. He said Zion is addicted to the buns All bonds. It don't matter where the bunts come from, where they're served, Well, that happens to be one of Zion. If I had to put that on the list of Zion problems.
Yeah, it does look like he has an issue with the uh The ladies. He has an issue with food. And I think it all correlates to his uh Lack of uh professionalism. I think that would all kind of fall. He's not committed to the game.
He's committed to Food and um And bonds, all types of bonds. Let's see what Zion can do. Cause his knees have been shot, his legs have been shot, Oh, good good luck to Zion. Anyway, I mentioned Mark Cuban. Yeah, the guy who no longer owns the Dallas Mavericks, the guy that I thought was gonna die with the Dallas Mavericks the entire well, well, his whole life.
It didn't happen that way. and Mark Heubin was sitting down. on Sirius XM NBA Radio. And Mark Cuban said he is not a fan. of sending NBA players.
So the Olympics. He says he's not a fan. Mark Hubbard has an alternative thought process As to who should represent the United States of America. Listen to what Mark Cubin told Sirius. I hated it.
I complained about it every single year. Because in my attitude, guys going to play for the Olympics, NBC, Comcast NBC, is making billions, right? The international, the IOC making billions. Even FIBA making a lot. I don't know exactly.
And we're giving all these guys for free and taking all the injury risks.
Now, there hasn't been dramatic injuries, but. You know, all you need to know is that if a guy is a free agent and hurt, he ain't playing. Right? Yeah, well, but come on, man. That that's a very And granted, the guy's a billionaire, sold his tech company in the late 90s and became a billionaire.
God bless him. And that's a very capitalistic way to look at it. That's not a player way to look at it. I mean th o of course you're you're the NBA. The owners in the NBA and the league make more money.
They're the best basketball team on earth. And all these other countries, all over the world, people actually have pride in going out. in representing their country. And so to hear Mark Cuban just say, well, everybody makes money except for us, like, man, you make enough money.
Okay, if the if the basketball players want to go out there. and actually represent the United States of America. You don't like it? He the the first thing he said is because of money. It wasn't so much about representing.
These guys do what they do. I mean, we got Luka Donchic. He's not a slave to the Dallas Mavericks or the Los Angeles Lakers now. If he wants to go home, and represents Slovenia, then then he is well within his right to do so. And so, if Mark Cuban, his only issue or the biggest issue, is for him to go out there and take a cut.
Y you gonna shut up then? I mean, give me a break. I actually like the fact. That we have pros and we can see them in a space that's not the NBA. Like, you don't need a cut.
Of the international pie. Of course, we know the IOC is making money. Of course, NBC has the rights to the Olympics, they're making money. Come on. This is a benefit to you as well.
Okay, we got stars who are here, who exist, that they're being marketed. It's nice to see him. Mark Cuban, find something else. to complain about. And they actually had an alternative He had another idea.
Listen to this. What I would tell David Stern and then Adam, I'm like, you know how in soccer for the Olympics is 21 and under or 22 and under, whatever it is, and then they own the World Cup, and the World Cup's a bigger event? I'm like, give them our young kids, right? Do the same thing as soccer. Let the 21 and under play for the Olympics and then create our own international World Cup.
So instead of just the all-star game, and they were like, well, FIBA, we've got this contract with FIBA, well that contract will expire. And then immediately, like, they wouldn't tell me anything, like, okay, we signed an extension with FIBA, I'm like. Because just think how much money is involved, right? The players, right? Literally, I mean we could be almost as big as the Soccer World Cup, which is one of the biggest sporting events in the world.
You know, and soccer is bigger than the Olympics, and so we could do the exact same thing, and I think we should, and I think the players would make a lot more money from it. You could support a lot of the global teams, right, all the different countries, but Adam wouldn't go for it, so that's why I sold my team. That's why he's so bacha. You believe that, man? He felt that we weren't making enough.
He felt that I wasn't making enough money and we're not globalizing this thing fast enough, so I'm gonna leave. You believe that? Nah, the last one, like, when he said it on the video. He gave out like the biggest smirk, so it was a that one that one was a joke, but I think he just didn't wanna On the team anymore. But I think market size he was just trying to get.
more ways to make money from his team. I guess that's not a bad thing for an owner to do. Yeah, but Yeah. He he sounds. To talk about how you want to change up or alter.
The Olympics. Because it doesn't yield you money. Like, what are we doing? We just finished up with the FIFA Club Worldcott. All right, there were a lot of people who who weren't necessarily happy overseas about the players having to play in yet another tournament.
People are like, Well, how do we make money? And who's making money? And FIFA makes the money, but what about us? And the club has to play in this, but It yeah. Can can can we just enjoy the Olympics?
Okay, the thing comes around. Every four years, we see the best of the best play the best, and Mark Cuban is sitting around trying to figure out how he can. you know, make some more money off of it. Like, I don't know. I get it.
You're a billionaire. You made your money in a certain type of way, but that. That I didn't necessarily expect to hear. I like the format as it is. And then Mark Cuban continued on saying wild things.
He talked about injury risks uh to players and all the injuries we've seen. Mark Cuban is now also an advocate. for the NBA moving from forty eight minutes. It's a forty. I'm like, does does Mark Cuban Does he like basketball?
Did he like ball? Or did he like yelling at the referees and making money? Like, which one was it? I hate the idea and the fact. of saying, hey, we need to move from 48 minutes.
to forty. I hate it. And now we need to do it to mitigate risk, injury risk.
So let's just have the guys go out there and play 20 minutes for all of that, right? Of course I'm being facetious, but I mean if we want to mitigate injury risks, let's chop the games really down. Like, are we really that soft? We gotta worry about guys playing and nobody, by the way, is out there playing 48 minutes. Unless you are you play for Tom Thibodeau and your bench suck.
But shortening basketball games, let's not do that, please. Please Botcher. 40 minutes, 48 minutes. 48 minutes just because As a fan too, think of the more action you're allowed to see. If you Like imagine paying to see the Lakers versus, let's just say, the Warriors and it's $500 for the cheapest ticket.
And they cut the game down by eight minutes, already dealing with players who sit out due to injuries and rest. It's just not good for the game. itself in the long term. Maybe health in a small form, but how much is eight minutes? gonna hurt these players.
Well, they say that if you would chop the games down, that the games would actually m well, not just from a real time perspective, uh kind of move along. But the pace of the game would change, the rotations would change. That's what they would argue. And then they would say, Oh, yeah, for the long-term betterment of the game, you know, 40 minutes. I'm like, nah, man.
Like, the record books have always been done on 48 minutes. If guys can't stay healthy, tell 'em stop playing so much damn AAU ball. Tell them to take it easy a little bit. Tell them to take a rest. Nobody's forcing these guys to go out there and just play ball every day and jump off of and land on their damn Achilles.
Like, I don't know. Like, certain things don't need to be adjusted. I wasn't a fan when Major League Baseball decided to go ahead. And then add all these rules to speed the game up. And I get it, they needed to do it.
from a perspective of Man, these games are slogging along. I I get it. But the baseball fan in me I had no problem with no three hour game. I had no problem with the pace of it. I had no problem with the timing.
But everything has to change. Instead of actually having the athletes go out and I don't know, maybe do better, adjust to better, We we we're gonna potentially chop off eight minutes. I think that's too much of a cop out. Don't let Mark Cuban Talk to Adam Silver anymore. Maybe Adam Silver doesn't speak to him as much.
I'm sure he doesn't. But, yeah, let's keep Mark Cuban away from. all decision making. And speaking of uh players and being injured, Victor Wembanyama has been cleared. From that blood clot that he suffered in his arm.
And so that is good news. I had said it last week. The fact that we haven't heard anything about Wimbinyama, I think, bodes well for his future. Hopefully, that is the worst injury that he has to deal with in his career. It's the JR Sport Re Show here with you, Coast to Coast on the Infinity Sports Network.
