Okay, so we'll have that chat with Danielle tomorrow about the Houston Rockets. The Houston Rockets are pretty busy as well throughout the course of free agency, even leading up to it. Today we learned that. Man, you got Dorian Finney Smith Who decides to make his way and exit from Los Angeles? He's now a member of.
Of the Houston Rockets. Clint Capella on his way to the Houston Rockets as well. And so the Rockets have been ridiculously busy here. uh in the off season or the start of the season. Fred Van Vleek gets a deal.
Kevin Durant traded in. Um Clint Capella New Deal. Stephen Adams got a contract. Jabari Smith Jr. got a contract.
And then you think about all the young guys who are on the up and up with the Rockets. The Reed Shepherds of the world. The Armen Thompsons. The Tari Easons. The the roster construction for the Houston Rockets is just It's a perfect mix.
You have players who can develop into the future. You have players who can definitely help you out by moving forward and winning now. And then you have one of the greatest scorers of all time in Kevin Durant. The Rockets are. Or numero uno to sit down and watch if you're an NBA fan.
I'll be paying attention. Botcher, do you think there's been a team? That's been better. You mentioned the Rockets. They they've had to have had the best offseason of any squad.
No no no comparison. It it has to be them. If not, you could argue maybe the Hawks, depending on how good you view Christatus Porzingis, but they picked up an extra first. But The Rockets have built a team where They can compete now with the players on the roster. Or If Yannis hypothetically wants to demand a trade, They can still go out there and get Yeah, Alessandro De Cumpo.
to build with maybe KD. And you think Giannis, you think they can move Giannis to the Rockets? I think they could. If you really break it down, you might. Van Vliet, Salary, Jabari Smith, you have Reed Shepard, a lot of firsts, you have the Suns firsts.
You could definitely make a move there. And what what are they they got to pay like who else is gonna be on the team? That's the point. Maybe you go Doreen, Finney Smith, Capella. Like just the guys who just signed, maybe they're the main starters now with Giannis and Durant.
But I'm not going to look at this and be like, hey, they don't have a shot if Giannis demands a treat. Yeah, I mean, isn't there a a window of time after you sign a free agent where you can't trade the guy? Like, you can't sign the guy and then just move him right away. Yeah, I think it's ninety days.
So Maybe maybe you can't. Trade Capella, Finney Smith, Van Vliet with the extension, but they still have a lot of young pieces that teams can want. Wow. Yeah, but I don't see any like i if I'm I I don't see that happening. If I'm the Milwaukee Bucks and you walk in and then say, Hey, you know, I want I want Giannis, like the first thing I'm gonna say is give me a men Thompson.
I mean, they were able to keep him, didn't have to get rid of him in exchange for Kevin Durant. If I'm. If I'm the Bucks, I'm like, hell no Like, what else are you giving me? I don't know. What the That would be nuts.
I can't even see Houston going, oh man, well, you know, let me just bring on another guy. I feel like it'd be the Phoenix Suns all over again. Like the issue with the Suns is that we're bringing in these these top flight talents, these these max contract guys, and then we have nothing else around them and the team sucked.
So they have to pay him a crap ton of money. Bradley Beal had a no-trade clause. And to think that somebody would want to go through that exercise again. I don't know. about that one.
I think Houston is great as it stands right now. I would roll the dice with the roster. I would roll the dice with the team I have. And I would just pray to God that pretty much Kevin Durant. It's healthy come play off time.
L listen to this Rockets roster. This is the starting lineup. Fred Van Vliet. Amen Thompson, Tari Eason, Kevin Durant, outprint Sangoon. Those are your starters.
Read Shepard. I mean, on another bumass team, he'd be probably shooting all the shots. You got Jabari Smith Jr. Who might be in a starting lineup in place of Tari Eason? You have Cam Whitmore.
And then you have Biggs with depth. I just told you about Stephen Adams. He got a contract extension. Clint Capella is on his way to the Houston Rockets. He's done here with the Atlanta Hawks.
Dorian Finney Smith is now on the team as well. He can play or at least defend big. They they're gonna be they're gonna be fun. And and and granted, we're not all the way through free agency. We talked about the Denver Nuggets.
They were able to bring back Bruce Brown, which is nice. I think that means Russell Westbrook is probably definitely going to be gone. It appears that Russell Westbrook has some mutual interests with the New York Knicks to kind of help them out. But when I take a look at the West, Outside of the Champs? OKC, the team that finished second In the conference last year, It was the Houston Rockets.
They won 52 games. Had 30 losses.
Now, you want to tell me that this team got worse? The answer is no. They got better. When we think about all the teams in the West, I would say Houston is the second best team. uh to the Champs.
The Los Angeles Lakers are still looking for big. Maybe they go ahead and bring on DeAndre Ayton. The big that the Lakers apparently wanted, and Brooke Lopez is on his way to the Los Angeles Clippers on a two-year contract. The Clippers already giving an extension. to James Harden, who's good in the regular season, but basically is Harry Houdini, by the time the playoffs come around, Minnesota adding Nas Reed, giving him a contract.
Julius Randall, a three-year deal. Golden State, what are they going to do with Jonathan Kaminga? God only knows. I think Golden State might be a Running in place. Memphis reconsiders Jaron Jackson.
Sacramento goes ahead and adds Dennis Schroeder. Golden State might have to move. Kumenga. He's on a restricted deal He can go out and solicit a contract from another team and the Golden State Warriors have the option of matching it. But it's been kind of quiet.
when it comes down to the Golden State Warriors. And and after going after Jimmy Butler bringing him in. Oh, okay, fine. They just lost Kevon Looney.
So the New Orleans Pelicans. Bacher, it's uh What the hell are they doing? Nothing. I I guess everything that they do will hinge on Kaminga. I don't get it.
Their entire Mm. Seems like there's no direction. with them. It's like they want to win.
Now But at the same time, they're just losing and getting older.
Well, yeah, I mean well Jimmy Butler and and Draymond and Steph Curry all sitting in this uh thirty six, thirty seven year old range. I mean, Brandon Pajemski, I mean, it's not like he's going to wake up one day and all of a sudden become an all-star to get them over the hump. The Golden State Warriors, they they went for broke. And and bringing in Jimmy Butler, and it seemed like the a desperation move. And here they are just trying to figure out how they can move the team forward.
I think the only way to do it is by getting rid of Jonathan Kamenga and hoping that he can bring back multiple assets.
So pretty surprising. Things are quiet. I guess Kamega has to go out and see what contracts are available to him. Before anything else moves along, the Dallas Mavericks bring on some point guard help in D'Angelo Russell. Chris Paul has been reported that he's looking at returning to the Los Angeles Clippers or the Phoenix Suns.
He played every game last year for the San Antonio Spurs. He's now 40 years old, Chris Paul is. And yeah, the Cleveland Cavaliers, they lose Ty Jerome. He's gone. And the world continues to roll as NBA Free Agency.
is here. Nikael Alexander. Walker is now a member of the Atlanta Hawks, and so the Hawks go ahead and get some help. Bantra, you just talked about them and having a good offseason. I I gotta tell you, man.
The hawks are are okay? They're mediocre? What are you seeing that I'm not? I'm just seeing right now with But Bringing in NAW, Nikhil. You have Trey Young, right?
Dyson Daniels, who's arguably. Defensive player that you're a candidate. Two two pretty much young players in Risha Shay. And Jalen Johnson. You have Porzingis at the five.
with the big O behind him.
So uh this team It's not bad. I wouldn't say it's a title contender, but compared to the previous Hawks teams. It's just so much better. Yeah, the Hawks went through a a stretch after they pretty much uh and fired the schlank. and had him pretty much sent out the door.
For what reason I have no idea. They they just got rid of a lot of talent, and I think it was due to salary. And now they bring in Nikhil Alexander Walker, which is is great. He's going to get you a couple of buckets a game, knock down some threes. I've seen the story with the Hawks.
The roster sounds nice. But I I can't I I can't get excited about a team. That's looking at Chris Staps Porzingis to be a contender, to win anything, really. And of course, not a championship. But it's enough that Jalen Johnson.
Hasn't been healthy since he was in. High school.
Okay, Jalen Johnson, he he barely made it through Duke. Here at the NBA level he's now dealing with more injuries. And now you bring on Christophe Porzingis, who, all things considered, Bacha, how many games do you think this man is playing? He'll play like fifty five. Fifty five.
Yeah, maybe. Yeah, and that's. That's it. I don't know. Here and here's the bad part.
People here in Atlanta, Georgia Some of them will be high on the team.
Some of them will pretty much look at him and go, What the what the hell is this? and I will just go most night, night after night. The Atlanta Hawks will just be Okay. That's it? That's what I expect from them as they've now picked up Nikhil Alexander Walker.
Zachary Rissachet will have another year and season under his belt. He certainly shows some nice things. The Hawks do need some forward depth. Or not forward depth. They need some depth behind Trey Young, Kobe Bufkin, rookie and being hurt.
You don't really expect anything from him. But they just have too many injury issues between Jalen Johnson, Christophe Borzingis, the Atlanta Hawks are. They're okay. I wouldn't put them anything past that. Let's see what they do.

This this NBA offseason now with the legal tampering period currently open, like Brooke Lopez going to the Los Angeles Clippers, Clint Capella going to the Houston Rockets. You got a trade going down with Cam Johnson switching places. with Michael Porter, junior. And so things are moving, things are shaking. in ENBA.
Now there's one man who almost led the league in three pointers made last season, who is Kinda just in in basketball purgatory right now. He's waiting. The Detroit Pistons had a forty plus million dollar contract offered to Malik Beasley. It was being negotiated. And then some news came down the pipe.
at the worst possible time, A former League Beastly, and maybe it doesn't matter. I think if you uh get caught doing certain things, that contract is voided and goes out of the window. Malik Beasley is Sharp shooter. Had 319 threes last year. Only Anthony Edwards had more with 320.
Malik Beasley is being investigated. for gambling.
Okay, he's not been arrested, none of this stuff. I want you to take a listen to ABC10 report on this news out of Detroit. A sports betting scandal involving one of the NBA's top three agents, it's Detroit's Malik Beasley at the center of a federal investigation into whether he gambled in the NBA.
Sources in at least one prominent sports book detected unusually heavy betting interest on Beasley's rebounding statistics. beginning in January of last year when he was playing for Milwaukee. During a game January 31st, a surge of bets were placed on Beasley, making fewer than two and a half rebounds. He finished with six rebounds, meaning those bets lost. But the activity was unusual enough to alert the sports book.
and federal authorities. It is an extremely serious situation because it goes to the very heart of if fans, spectators, anyone who cares, if you can trust what you're watching. Beasley's attorney says there have been no charges against Malik. It's just an investigation at this point. End of quote.
Oh boy.
Now we've seen this We've seen this in in the NFL. We just saw this in the NBA with Jante Porter. This man has received, or he has received, a lifetime ban from the NBA. for gambling and Malik Beasley has he's kind of screwed himself over.
Now these allegations, if they hold to be true, they're from a couple of seasons ago.
Alright, so this is not even something that's recent. And so, what popped up now and why this is front page news? Who knows? But he is being investigated. And as I mentioned, the Detroit Pistons were ready to offer him a $42 million deal.
And basically, yeah, when you're investigated for gambling and you are at risk of being tossed from the league. I ain't giving you no money. I have to wait and see how all of this bears out. I want you to take a listen to what Shams had to say about this Malik Beasley situation. I am told though that Beasley and the Pitts were in serious talks on finalizing a three-year $42 million contract that would have brought Beasley back to Detroit, but now those talks are on pause.
talks around the league, likely on pause for Malik Beasley as well. Uh yeah. Who the hell is going to add a guy who might get the boot?
Okay, and I told you about the NFL. CALVIN RIDLY This man was with the Falcons. I guess he had nothing better to do outside of rehab. This guy was out here. He was gamblin' while he was hurt, okay?
He got the booties now with the Tennessee Titans. I mean, we just had Jamison Williams from the Detroit Lions. He received a six-game suspension. He's over here placing bets on college football while at the team facility. You're not.
Supposed to do that. And so, as we have opened up the world of sports gambling, Sports betting. You can put it on your phone, you can put this in your back pocket. It's easier for everybody to be tempted, including the players. And so, who knows?
Maybe nothing will come out of this with Malik Beasley. But when people always talk about, hey, there's a script and you know these games are rigged and the NFL or the the the referees are in on the take. I mean, outside of Tim Donahy. I I I I don't find that to be true. Of course there's always going to be somebody who's looking to get ahead.
It's gonna be somebody who's looking to cheat. It's going to be somebody who's going to try to get their hands on some dough and some money. But if you have enough of these bad characters. The validity of the games and the money that's on the line is is is more important. Like this is professional sports here.
This is not the WWE. Nobody's sitting around scripting, you know, what's going to happen next, which is why. If a guy like Malik Beasley You know, is kind of altering his stats to, you know, help out some gamblers, or somebody's threatening him to do this. Like, that's that just sucks the life. out of the game.
That sucks the life out of the sport. At that point the league lacks and has no integrity, Like why would anybody gamble on something? That they don't believe to be any type of of of real. At that point We might as well have a script and writers, you know, for the rest of the season. as it goes on.
And maybe there's much to do about nothing. when it comes down to Malik Beasley, but let's be clear. This is going to be somebody else. That's it. There's gonna be somebody else Who's gambling?
There's going to be somebody else who's cheating. There's going to be somebody else who's trying to get a friend to do it for them. This is just this is life. This is the world that we live in. I mean, damn it, we we had NBA players.
retired NBA players who were making money off their pensions. Trying to screw the league for insurance fraud.
Okay. My cut Glenn Big Baby Davis. is currently in prison, For insurance fraud. I don't know what his financial situation was. He didn't make enough money.
He has to d defraud. The pension fund? And that's not even gambling. There's always going to be somebody. uh looking for a leg up.
Malik Beasley, I'm sure, at this point in time, uh he's the only one who knows whether or not what he did is is on the up and up or whether or not he was uh you know, it's just being investigated, but Yeah. Man, $42 million lost? I mean, I guess the only alternative is to join Ipe Mizohara. in prison Bacha, what do you think Ipe is doing right now? You think he watches baseball or you think he's done?
Definitely not. He do you think they'll let him watch baseball after what happened? Oh, why not? He's not gonna gamble on it, right? Is gambling still a thing in prison, right?
Oh well yeah.
Well What do you think they're telling he he you think he's in solitary? No, there's no there's no way he's in solitary. For gambling? What if he goes out? I don't know.
I mean, maybe they go, the guys know that he was with Shohei, and they go, oh man, we got to get this guy. I don't know. I don't think that. I think he's just a regular prisoner. that is just not allowed to gamble or have any activity Now Everybody knows what he.
I mean, he can't walk around there like, hey, man, what are you here for? What is he going to say? He's going to lie? You can't lie. He's gonna say I rob Shohei Otani, right?
Do do you think that gives him cred? In prison?
Well, I mean, I'm sure he's in a nice white collar uh part of the prison, though. Like, what are you here for? A tax fraud? What are you here for? I robbed Shohei.
The other guy robbed, I don't know, a bank.
So I'm sure these are white-collar criminals that he's hanging out with. I don't know. But that's not. You think they got Ipe Muzuhara hanging out with gang leaders? That would be something.
I don't think they would. But it would be pretty funny. Oh yeah. Order world. And what do you think about Malik Beasley?
I mean, if he is found to do this, he's getting a boot too. Oh yeah, but I I can't say he actually did do it just because He wasn't actively Selling like there's no proof that he actually like Jante Porter purposely subbed himself out of games with injuries that he actually didn't have. What we've seen so far with Malik Beasley is that he was just Playing a game, and a group of betters, I don't know if it was like a TikTok trend or something, shifted the line. And the line didn't even hit.
So I don't see right now an issue with this.
Well, we're going to find out. I know from his perspective, he's probably like, man, if he is innocent, if he ain't got nothing going on, Malik Beasley is like, man, what? I'm trying to sign my contract. Like, I'm trying to make my $42 million, and y'all over here checking me out for something that I did not do. And so we're going to find out.
The NBA is not going to play around when it comes to some guy just gambling. They're going to get your ass the heliport out of here. I mean, last week we talked about Pete Rose. We heard from Alex Rodriguez. He's like, man, if they would have let Pete Rose in and, you know, his life would have been different.

So they all lost.
So He's doing a terrible job helping out gamblers if that's the case, right? Was it colluding colluding with the sports book or like what I'm confused as to why they're investigating him.
Well, I think one of the reasons that they're investigating him, to see if he was wa was in cahoots with them. I don't know. Maybe he was trying to screw somebody over. I mean, if you think. I why you would want to do that, I have no idea.
But if you think about Malik Beasley, I'm not going to say that he has been an angel throughout the the course of his career. He has been suspended by the league in the past, a felony charge. He was hanging out, I think, with Scotty Pippen's ex-wife at one point in time.
So I'm not going to say. Go ahead. Nothing. Yeah, I'm not gonna say that the guy has the most uh sterling of reputations, but uh We're going to find out sooner than later. Yeah, agreed.

Due to some rebounding statistics, a million people all of a sudden came out of nowhere.
Bet the under on him getting some rebounds, and he ended up with more than that.
So go ahead and uh. Figure that one out. The NBA is certainly investigating Malik Beasley. Um Was currently negotiating a $42 million contract with the Detroit Pistons. That money.
might be gone. And we'll find out uh sooner. Uh than later. And then we had Ryan, thank you so much, Ryan, for calling from Chicago. And it made me think about something else that took place over the weekend in Chicago specifically.
And really Angel Reese. Yeah, everybody's favorite basketball player between her and Caitlin Clark. The Chicago Sky have a record of 5-11. Yeah, nothing to uh you know, go home and and and scream about. But yesterday Anger Rees had herself.
Again.
Okay? Twenty-four points. ten of nineteen shooting. As the sky went out and won yesterday, 92 to 85.
Now Angel Rees has been known for uh missing a bunch of lay ups and For lack of better terms, thinking of join up, people say that she's been able to pad her rebounding stats because she misses uh so many shots uh when she's open at the basket. And so when she had this big old game yesterday, It seemed like to it was a little bit of a Of a turning point, she did this against Los Angeles, and it wasn't just twenty-four points, sixteen rebounds. She also had seven assists, she had two blocks, she was able to finish, well shooting 10 and 19, 52% from the field, and so Angel Reese had herself a game. And after missing all them damn shots to start the year, this is what Andrew Reese had to say about overcoming a rough start. I kind of said earlier, like.
I had a storm. I went through a storm for the first eight games where I couldn't finish. It was frustrating, but I trusted my work and my teammates trusted my work and finally coming through and finally finishing efficiently. And it's leading to wins for us.
Well, good for her. I mean, I'm I'm Good for her, whatever.
Okay, I mean, the game before that, she was 7 of 16, not all that good. 6 of 12 before then. A three of 11 from the field, that is not good. One of one, okay. Seven of thirteen.
Yeah, so I don't know. One game doesn't make a change, uh but when you're when you're the big on the basketball court, uh typically you probably should have uh one of the the highest rates of conversion because most of your shots are coming at the basket. And Angel Reese, who basically sold those shirts that says me bounds. People making fun of her for offensive boards and getting so many of them after the misses. She certainly sold those shirts.
This is what she had to say about how getting all those rebounds helps her get the job done. I mean, when you get rebounds, it's never a negative. Like, when somebody can't stop you on the boards, I mean, That leads to more points for us. I look at it as a positive. Everybody looks at it as a negative, but I look at it as a positive.

Um Botcher, I want to pat myself on the back. Because I am familiar with every single one of these players all of 'em. I feel like they've actually done a really good job, I think, the WNBA, of just like promoting. The stars. I don't know if everyone who watches basketball watches the WNBA.
But you know names. Like, you know Brianna Sturdy, you know A.J. Wilson. You know Brittany Griner. wherever wherever you do, but I don't know how they do it, but they're they're very good at getting the star players marketed.
You think so? Most people would say I I think if you were to ask the WNBA players, a lot of them would be like, hey, we do a crap job marketing. It's just all about Caitlin Clark. I think to the I don't know if it's because we work. Near it?
And we're close to the WNBA, it's like we have to pay attention to it. That we know the stars. Right. But maybe to the casual viewer, they don't know who these people are. But I don't I personally, if you make an effort into paying attention to the WNBA, you'll know who these people are.

I don't I mean, o who's so here's a better question. Yeah. After Caitlin Clark, who's the second most famous WNBA player right now? Brittany Griner, maybe? Brittany Griner just for off the off the court issues, you could say that, or I would say Paige Beckers.
Wait, wait, wait, wait. You think Paige and the du whole WNBA? I think Beckers is the most well-known player behind Caitlin Clark. If it's not Beckers, it's UNESCO or A.J. Wilson.
How would it b but how would it be she just got to the sh has she played fifteen games yet? I think I don't think she has, but at the same time, she was so popular at UConn. She was hurt! Yeah, but when she wasn't hurt, she was very popular and she's still she's big on TikTok and the younger generation knows who she is.
Well, I mean, the whole world isn't just a younger generation. I mean, there's a there's a whole lot more to the world than people on TikTok. You think the majority of sports fans are on TikTok? No, I just Number one pick. Yukon.
Younger kids know her 'cause of social media. I just think it there's a lot there to where she's very marketable and very popular.

Who can we sell? I know they do all of this now with the fashion walks into the arena. Everybody has to walk down the red carpet and Everybody's wearing outfits this and outfits that. I just don't know how much of that translates off of social media into making money, into growing the league, into making people say, hey, I want to tune into something. Outside of Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese.
Because if them two aren't playing, like, what uh What else am I tuning in for? Just the finals? Like, is there any other hook in the NBA besides Andrew Reese and Caitlin Clark? Uh I would just say um uh if you don't care about the games I don't think there's any real I don't know of any other storylines that go deeper than this team has a revenge game for losing in the finals. Yeah.
I I I want to see I want to see Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers play the Jets. Because that's a revenge game. I specifically want to see that game. I guess the WNBA. Outside of marketing, it's players.
I mean, they have to figure out a way. To make people want to watch particular games, what's the hook? Who am I tuning into? Why does she hate this guy? Why does she hate this team?
I mean, Dewana Bonner, you know, she just left the Indiana fever. And okay, so when does she play them next? You know, like those are the type of things that the WNBA has to start lining up. But Rome wasn't built in a day. And as we'll talk about.
later on in the show, The WNBA is actually expanding. The WNBA is picking up. More cities. They're getting more players in. We always hear about how players get drafted and they don't even make it to the league in the same season.
It's like, damn. What a way to just just blow everything out the water here. Like, we're over here drafting players, and the next thing you know, it's like you can't even make the team.
