It is! The JR Sportbreeze Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia.
Thank you to everybody tuned in and locked in all over North America. I hope you're safe. I hope you're well. I hope you're amazing. I hope you have had a tremendous Monday. This show gets started every weekday at 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific.
I'm in Atlanta. Thank you to our producer in New York City, Nico Scarlatos. And we've had a busy show. Hey, thank you to Christian Winfield, Covers of New York Knicks for the New York Daily News. He came by and we had a chat about what the Knicks could do, what they might do, now that they've been eliminated.
The Knicks season is done. Hey, we talked about Frank Ragnow retiring from the NFL, the star center from the Detroit Lions. Just another name leaving the Detroit Lions. You think about Ben Johnson, no longer coaching. He's now with the Bears.
You think about Aaron Glenn, now with the Jets. Hey, we talked SGA and OKC. We talked about Halliburton and the Pacers. We gave you a quick Finals preview. What a shocker.
I'm going with OKC. We talked about Deion Sanders defending his son, Chidor, in his draft preparation. Speaking of coaches, we talked about Tom Thibodeau. We got into Bill Belichick, whose buyout at North Carolina has now decreased from $10 million to one.
And we have so much more to get into as we continue on. We just talked about Saquon Barkley being on the cover of Madden. We're going to talk about David Ortiz.
He has some words about Rafael Devers. And of course, at the end of the show, we'll talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history. You can always listen on the free Odyssey app where you can hit rewind if you've missed a minute or a second. Thank you for listening live on your local Infinity Sports Network affiliate. You got Sirius XM, channel 375.
If you got a smart speaker, ask the speaker to play the Infinity Sports Network. And if you want to call me, you can do that too. We have paid our phone bill. Here's the number 888-710-4ISN.
That's 888-710-4ISN. You can find me on the internet. I am everywhere at JR Sport Brief. I'm at JR Sport Brief every place on the internet. Wow.
What a day. Yeah, we moved into this space last week. It's like, where's the basketball? There's no more. Down to the final two teams. You start thinking about the hockey. We got to wait two days for that between us seeing Edmonton and the Panthers getting after it. And so things a little bit quiet. We got more baseball than anything. There's plenty of baseball as they're getting ready to take center stage all throughout the course of the summer. Right before we went to break, we talked about Saquon Barkley being on the cover of Madden and people talk about the Madden curse and whether or not players are going to fall off the face of the earth after they're featured on the cover of a video game of all things.
Me, I'm not superstitious. I'm not concerned about that. We had a caller David who brought up the fact that a lot of these guys are running backs like Christian McCaffrey last year. Christian McCaffrey was on the cover of Madden and let's just say this man was flying out to Europe trying to get help for his busted up achilles. He was just injury ravaged all throughout the course of the season.
Even when he came back had to pretty much pull him back again due to his leg injury. So we got a history of guys just going down. I want to let David finish his thoughts. If you want to call me you can do that as well. 888-710-4ISN.
That's 888-710-4ISN. Let's go to David still here from LA. Hey David go ahead finish your point.
Hey JR thanks a lot for letting me finish my thought. Yes I was saying you know a lot of these players they get on running backs especially they get on the Madden cover after they have like a breakout season a star-studded season and it's really hard as a running back to duplicate that kind of production after you know such a season because the season can can take such a wear and tear on the running back. Obviously you know as an Eagles fan I hope that doesn't happen. Saquon and I know the Eagles don't as well. You know the last Eagle to make it on the Madden cover was Donovan Knapp and that was right after that Super Bowl season and then the next year he had a TO drama.
He had a TO drama along with you know getting that sports hernia and the following season he tore his ACL. So you know go figure. But anyway I did want to. I think one thing that we also have to keep in mind is this is the NFL and guys are going to get hurt whether you happen to be on the cover of a video game or not. People are people are going to go hurt.
Go ahead David. Oh yeah absolutely. Yeah regarding some of the other video games you brought up I was a big NBA Jam fan as well. I mean I always loved you know there are two kinds of sports games.
One is the kind of tries to be as realistic as possible like Madden and then the other is the one that doesn't try to be realistic and tries to go as outrageous as possible like NBA Jam and I'm a fan of both and depending on my mood I'll play whatever but I loved NBA Jam and the way that you know they they allowed you to do some ridiculous things that there's no way shape or form that you can do it in reality. As for football games Madden honestly like it started to gradually go downhill when there was no competition. There were a couple of years where it was pretty good because you know the NFL once they signed that exclusivity exclusivity deal there was no other there were no other theory that could use the NFL.
Correct me if I'm wrong David and I got some more callers here that I need to get on. You're referring to you're referring to game day that was the other good game wasn't it? There was also yeah there was also 2k um but I think that the reason that Madden may have gone downhill in much more recent years is because of the passing of John Madden you know he was very much involved in the in the game making process to try and make sure that the game but I think I think that comes down to a point and thank you for calling from LA. I think there's a point in time where you have to look at at kind of replay value and how I mean how often can you just reinvent the wheel of a football game like what's the next step outside of you know you actually feeling the hits. I remember there was a point in time where it was it was new that the the controllers rumbled and like that was that was new and innovative but how long did anybody care about that and so to be honest like how hands-on all the way to the end of his life was John Madden and you know helping out the video game what was he gonna do to improve the game like every year you gotta hope that the graphics get better and every new system has new graphics I don't I don't know if the passing of John Madden played a role outside of you know here the plays I know that they employ entire teams now who track the ratings for the particular players the players love to hear about the ratings I don't know I think Madden has just kind of been plug and play as far as I know you know for the better part of maybe more than a decade 8 8 8 7 10 for ISN that's 8 8 8 7 10 for ISN Tony is here from Texas you're on the JR Sportbreeze show what's up tony hey what's going on my brother what's going on oh man I got two things for you yeah I am a strong believer in Madden man I've been playing Madden for the last I guess 10 years you know faithfully now and I play it man every time they release a new one I gotta get it and I will say I have seen the you you you are a Madden aficionado does the game you know does it does it really change that much year after year I will say as far as gameplay it doesn't change drastically to somebody who doesn't really play it but if you play it all the time as much as I do I do sometimes host tournaments at my house oh my god and man I'm telling you it's very detailed nowadays you know used to you know you kind of had a play that you can run all the time and you know it's a guaranteed play that stuff really don't exist nowadays yeah man it's like they have it where the the computer like the ai effect or whatever the computer will catch on to that kind of stuff wow you can actually you know strip the ball with perfect time and stuff like that like it's the small things like uh past placement you know uh like the passing is very revamped you know what I mean so I definitely see the improvement over the past year like the most recent one here uh like I basically have a lot of my settings for the classic stuff because it's just too too detailed you know I haven't played Madden in 20 years so basically if I picked up and played today I'd get destroyed by the computer like uh 60 to nothing it depending on what skill level you set it on yes sir you probably be holly pence man what else you got tony and I also wanted to go back to your question if I had to replay any sports game all time man I'm a I'm a 90s kid myself man so I'm gonna have to go with uh either blitz the league on playstation 2 or uh fight night man uh play session oh my goodness man fight night boxing was good is it there was one that was it Muhammad Ali and Pacquiao in it I don't remember I don't remember there was a fight there was a fight night on playstation where you you I think Muhammad Ali was in there maybe Mayweather and Pat that was a yeah a great boxing game I enjoyed that that's why I first integrated the weaving and and you know I'm just not just blocking and punching man it is very nice I played the new uh undisputed boxing game that they released last year a couple years ago and it's just not the same man the fight night is untouched I tell you yeah and then you could you could you could bring up your own character and make him climb up the yeah that was a that was a great game hey tony thank you for going from sexist man appreciation all right thank you brother no doubt about it yeah man that I forgot about that boxing game yeah that was fun and you know I don't I don't know where it is right now there's so many new systems and I remember when the Nintendo Wii came out Nintendo Wii had an entire sports package to it where I mean a lot of injuries in people's living rooms people playing golf and tennis and just going on down the line are doing it all I think the Nintendo Switch Nico do you know is that does that even exist anymore can is there anything we like or my way off I think now they've moved on to the Nintendo Switch I still have the old Wii I don't know if they've come out with a new system for the Wii though I think the the Switch has become very popular because now you can take it to go like they have the one where you can like hold in your hand almost like an iPad and it like has controllers attached it's crazy yes I've seen that yeah man it's crazy you think about the popularity of video games I don't know how much it's changed or not changed given the fact that it's like everybody has a system in their back pocket right now you can just pull out your phone and boom there are their games and I mean not even scaled down versions of NBA 2k or Madden or what have you but uh man you could throw solitaire in your back pocket if you want to it's a it's a crazy world something that I'm sure Bill Belichick is pretty sure maybe his girlfriend is teaching him some of the ropes there what do I know 888-710-4ISN that's 888-710-4ISN somebody who's going to have much more time to play some video games we talked about it earlier in the show is Frank Ragnell decided to call it a wrap no longer going to be the starting center no longer going to be a pro bowler for the Detroit Lions they gave him a more than a 50 million dollar contract a couple of seasons ago and he has dealt with toe injury after toe injury turf toe severe turf toe he's been told that even if you have surgery there's not going to be a damn thing that we can do about you he has decided but to walk away from the game we talked about Frank earlier in the show speaking of Bill Belichick we learned that Bill Belichick well now that we are now in June his contract buyout has now dropped to a whopping well maybe for not for Bill Belichick I'll take the 1 million dollars his buyout has gone from 10 million dollars now down to one Bill Belichick if he wanted to leave North Carolina doesn't have to shell out 10 million it's only down to one but at this stage of the season NFL in college let's just say Bill Belichick is going nowhere speaking of coaches earlier in the show we also heard from Deion Sanders Deion Sanders wanted to take some time to defend his son Chidor he sat down with Asante Samuel in his podcast and Deion basically said yeah my boy they were lying on his name they were saying he wasn't prepared and he didn't study and he was wearing headphones Deion Sanders basically said that was a load of crap I want you to listen to Deion Sanders defend the honor of his son listen to this I know it was a lot of rumors about the next level and I can't see that yeah I can see the next level and I think a couple people who may have taken shots at my kids they were afraid that I would go that's where the shots came from all you got to do is just sit back and listen anybody want to do that they want to create these narratives and create these stories and then attach them to a kid that ain't never done nothing wrong how does that make you feel when you see your colleagues or your peers going in on you man like how does that make you feel man you have no idea when you sit up there and say something like he went in a meeting unprepared like dude Chidor Sanders who's had six different coordinators who has still functioned and went up leveled up every time we brought somebody new in and you're going to tell me every situation so it was some foolish stuff that went on but you know what that that gave them something that they needed yeah well I mean I think at the same time we discussed this early in the show is Dion yeah you want to defend your son you're going to defend your kid I ain't got no problem with that but Dion speaking up I think is one of the reasons that Chidor might have fallen in the draft not just because he wasn't just far and away the best quarterback talent I think people would have taken a risk to draft him if they felt that that was the case not only when you maybe look at some of his physical attributes but then there was also the the Dion effect and a Dion factor of do we want to bring on Dion's son not knowing how what when and where Dion is going to kind of pop up or or say what's on his mind as well and so yeah this is after the fact and Nico and I discussed the fact that maybe you know Dion should just let Chidor go out there and ball you know there's nothing that Dion is going to say that's going to change or fix or alter anything that has already taken place it's now all up to Chidor you know as to what he is going to do on that football field for the Cleveland Browns I think eventually he's going to find himself a a good stretch of starts for Cleveland you know given the talent that they do or don't have in the quarterback room I'm talking about the Joe Flacos of the world 40 year old Joe Flacco smaller Dylan Gabriel who was selected in the third round over Chidor Kenny Small Hands Pickett and so I don't want to say that this is like a a battle between misfit toys but Chidor it's going to be disappointing if he doesn't you know find himself a couple of starts and you see what he does 888 710 for ISN that's 888 710 for ISN Kent is calling up from Maine Kent you're on the JR Sport Brief Show. Hey how's it going tonight? It's going great man what's on your mind? Hey so definitely loving this topic about the video games and stuff especially when you brought up NBA Jam I just remember Sega you know trying a bunch of different things with basketball games and kind of with the inspiration of Mike Tyson Punto they decided to they decided to make it but they also decided to make a basketball version of that with Charles Barkley Shut Up and Jam and that was that was pretty fun to play it was definitely a little bit different than NBA Jam if you wanted to do you know something a little bit different more street ball-ish type game as well as I don't know if you remember the game Jam it.
Oh no what the heck was that? So it was another it was basically a either a one-on-one or a two-on-two street ball game where you played in tournaments and you know that every player had their own sayings their own put downs and stuff like what you you know and stuff and it was definitely you know so at that time you definitely had a different variety of games you could play when it comes to basketball and it was a kind of fun going through and you know one day playing NBA Jam the next day playing Charles Barkley and then Jam it the next day it was so they definitely they definitely gave us a lot a lot of different. I played Jam and I played hang time and then this is this pre-date sounds crazy this pre-dates 2k so I'm gonna have to look into what you just said I'm still trying to figure out uh you know how I could just I guess I gotta find time to do that first let me tell you something Kent bills don't pay themselves and I know people get paid for video games that's worked out for me and I gotta find out how to do that okay.
All right sounds good. All right thank you Kent for calling from Maine appreciate you man yeah it's uh man people yeah people get paid for for balling out and playing the games yeah if only everybody uh everybody should be so lucky I guess it's a skill if you're getting some decent cash for it it's the JR sport re-show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network 888-710-4ISN that's 888-710-4ISN we just heard Dion Sanders defend his son Chidor we have a Red Sox legend who decided that it was time to defend one of the Red Sox current stars we're talking about David Ortiz he has some words for people who are being critical of Rafael Devers we'll talk about that on the other side of the break it's the JR sport reef show coast to coast the infinity sports network and I appreciate you it is the JR sport reef show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network 888-710-4ISN that's 888-710-4ISN before we went to break we talked about the comments that Dion Sanders made to Asante Samuel pretty much sticking up for his son telling everybody that my son showing up to work not being prepared it's it's a lie it's a load of crap and it's basically you know one of these stories that are put out there to kind of you know beat us down not beat us down but to uh you know paint us in the negative light and punish us in this case uh his son and I said that his son has nothing to do at this point in time but to show up for the Cleveland Browns and his work his way into the starting job you know for the Cleveland and that won't happen until later on this year so that's on on Dion's side but Dion isn't the only you know sports legend who went off on I don't want to say a limb or a tangent to pretty much help defend a contemporary or not a contemporary but somebody close to him earlier today David Ortiz big poppy hall of fame David Ortiz was defending Rafael Devers oh you know the situation by now right Boston Red Sox enter into tonight with a record of 29 and 32 the Boston Red Sox decide to hand Alex Bregman a big old contract to join the team Alex Bregman is one of the best defensive third baseman in the league a better defender than Rafael Devers who happens to be one of the best hitters in the league as well and they asked Devers to ultimately uh move from third base didn't want to do so but he did it they asked him to be a designated hitter okay Tristan Casas Casas he went down with a season-ending injury he plays first base you know just so the Boston Red Sox could add a little bit more versatility and pop to the lineup they said they said hey Devers why don't you play first instead of being a DH Rafael Devers said y'all asked me to move once I didn't want to do it now you ask me to move again he said no the owner had to fly and hop on a plane just to check in with this guy and I guess maybe read him the riot act they're paying this man Devers is getting more than 300 million dollars over the life of his contract and so it's not like you just wake up and dump the guy and so now it appears that Rafael Devers has an ally in David Ortiz I look at it like hey man you're getting a lot of money they're asking you to play first at minimum you can help out the team and try and learn I mean oh you got to man stand there and receive the ball okay you don't got to stand over there and do the splits for nine innings just try to receive the ball David Ortiz spoke at his his golf event earlier today and he says I wouldn't make him switch positions from DH to first I'd leave it alone listen to Big Papi. David is doing so great at the DH that I mean you know when when you are a team player you are committed to uh to whatever it takes to hold the ball club but I think he's doing what we are expecting him to do I mean he was moved from third base to the DH spot uh he had never played first base so it would take him some time to figure out how to play first base because first base as easy as it looks it has also uh it's difficult you know move around the back you know that every play is finished over there so if you have enough crew about what you're doing you can begin to be a little complicated so I think it had to happen so many things in a short period of time and I think the guy needs some time just to figure out you know but as of right now he's doing great at the DH so I won't mess that up. And he is okay Raphael Devers entering into tonight leads all of baseball and RBIs he has 52 RBIs the man has hit 12 home runs he has a batting average of 286 that that sounds spectacular given a day and age where it seems like a great batting average is now 205 you can get a gigantic contract but Raphael Devers even after a very very slow start I feel like his first couple of games of the season all he did was go out there and strike out he's having another tremendous year as DH so I can understand the thought process of hey let's not move Raphael Devers because we don't want him to now get in his head thinking about defense there are a lot of baseball players that can let or excuse me can let their performance on defense affect their performance at the plate hey I stink on defense and now I go up to the plate I'm still thinking about the play that I just had as opposed to thinking about what's coming a fastball or a change up so that certainly can happen and Raphael Devers maybe realistically one of the reasons that he had this slow start with the Boston Red Sox might be because of the position switch what do I do as a DH to kind of keep the action and keep things alive but to head back out onto the field and then to think about the talent that Raphael Devers has I don't know man I think you can stand out there and learn first base you know for for the advancement and the betterment of the ball club I still think it's kind of a I think it's a bad look 10 years 313 million dollars and the man who is not the fleetest of foot they're not going to ask him to go out there and play right field he ain't gonna play shortstop to not want to play first base and then to have Big Poppy who by the way was a terrible defender okay this man was primarily a DH they did not want this man at first I think it's one of the reasons that the twins said man get him out of here we don't want him we're not going to resign him it's because he was he was limited and so I mean not a shock that David Ortiz would support him David Ortiz had his own problems and issues covering first base I just think David Ortiz can back him up I still think Raphael Devers is being a bad teammate by not even trying it's not like they they put a gun to his head and say hey you're gonna play first base they're paying him 313 million dollars I think at minimum Raphael Devers can just get up and at least at least try Nico do you think he's being a jerk yeah I think he is yeah I think this is completely ridiculous I mean this is exactly what you should be as a team player like why are we why are we even like having this debate I can't believe that there's people actually defending him in this conversation I understand that there's like you said your defense can affect your hitting we see that all the time but it's it's just for the team's sake would you not want to do whatever it takes to win like I don't I don't wouldn't you want to be willing to to learn something new like if you're even if you're not that good at it I would still say like if the coaches think that this is the best move for the team then let's do it yeah well listen we all know somebody not at our job of course not not at our job but we all know that guy who goes to work goes listen I'm just here give me my check don't ask me to do anything else I'm not changing none I'm not adjusting anything just pay me and leave me alone this is this is baseball like it spells out team like the goal is to win and you're not the only person on the team and if you can be inconvenienced in the slightest of ways but in the process if it helps out the team man you should be willing to go out there and and do it Marco are you surprised that David Ortiz kind of said leave him alone no and I got to be fair I think a lot of this is on the Red Sox as much as look you what you guys are saying is not wrong but I do feel like most of the problem lies with the Red Sox because in the off season there was no communication endeavors about them going to sign Bregman who plays this position and I know you can say well what do you why do you have to because the guy's making 300 million dollars and he's the face of your franchise you probably should have given him a heads up look we might do this for the betterment of the club just letting you know before we do it they didn't then they walked into spring training and they told Bregman hey you're the third baseman Rafael you're gonna move and he was like I'm gonna do what now so again no communication so as much as we can say well he's just a player he's not just a player this is not a utility guy this is the face of your franchise you might want to have a little bit of a conversation before before you start throwing things at it and then Alex Cord does the sly little well that was prior management that made all those guarantees to him gonna move yeah I mean I'm sorry you couldn't get out in front of this when you communicate you find yourself in a better position when you treat everybody like they're stupid and they can just just go do what I tell you to do you get pushback from a guy who makes 300 million dollars looks and goes I don't want to do this maybe I don't have to do this because you know what what are you gonna do to me so this is I feel like it was both sides Devers went childish but the Red Sox set this up by not talking to him beforehand I I agree but I don't think given the time that Bregman signed it was it was pretty late in the process this wasn't and I think we see that a lot more now in major league baseball these contracts that get signed are happening they used to be in November and now I feel like they got a sweat to the line of of spring training and so I can understand if there were some delays in the communication I just I think but that's part of the gig and part of the job like everybody knows especially like nobody's handing out deals like candy like we used to get it and so I don't think that the Red Sox owed him any much more than hey we're paying you 313 can you move he said no they were like what are you talking about well you promised me that I was going to be it's like you you get a lot of money bro just just go stand over there what difference does it make you're right but like I said that's a conversation you have behind closed doors before you get to spring training you don't spring that on him when he's in front of the media or you got his manager saying that was prior like it just felt like it was disrespectful and unnecessary now you can say well come on that's the money's the respect yeah it's a lot of respect in a 313 million dollars but then it goes the other way where you look at it and go well then so for that I just I got to do whatever you tell me to do like there's nothing we don't talk about anything I signed this contract before I even became a free agent I gave you a deal they asked how many players in baseball have just I mean I'm sure there are plenty but in a such a public way have said no you're right but why it was the ask public that's my point this ask should have been private they made everything public because they didn't get out in front of it that to me is where they screwed up if you talk beforehand and then he winds up you know putting thumb in his nose at you then it's different than it then it's a different vibe to me this vibe came from the Red Sox just didn't want to they assumed that Devers would do whatever the hell they told them and that's not the way you go about it with your franchise player who you could say what you want did not test free agency gave you a gave you a deal and in essence look we saw what Soto got we saw what Judge got gave you a deal in essence he would have been on the on the open market he would have got more money and then you treated him like he's a utility player I don't think so this I don't think so I think this is a matter of these are like two kids in class that they're just flicking boogers at each other for no reason right now like he's not going anywhere you gotta pay him he's stuck with the money I'll just hug it out I mean the owner got the owner flew to go meet with the guy and they're still beefing I don't know like I said in that regard I agree with you but that's the point like it's childish it's two kids that didn't talk to each other so now they're annoyed with each other if you'd actually like an adult which is what the or I put more onus on an organization because I feel like they're the adult in the room you need to be out in front because most players are childish they're little kids that got pampered their whole lives and they play a kids game and they get a hell of a lot of money for it so sometimes you got to be out in front and be the adult and go you know what this might blow up in our face let's make sure everybody's cool maybe maybe they need to get uh maybe they need to get David Ortiz to come in and be peacemaker I don't know maybe he maybe he can fix it I guarantee you one real conversation and I'm sure Devers will you don't say fall in line but I'm sure he'll go along with it also the other thing you got to do is don't just throw him there next week and expect him to play because the guy's got too much pride he's going to look like he's going to look terrible so you got to give him a chance to actually learn how to play the position and I think the Red Sox again threw well you could probably go over there next week no you can't no you can't guy was a butcher at third there's a reason why you don't have him out there now you wanted to play first base without even having to learn it why don't you give him some time to actually take some grounders I don't think they were gonna come on he's gonna then why go public with it that's the point the guy could have took grounders for the last three weeks we wouldn't have known anything about it yeah he could well no that's unlikely people would have found out look misery loves company and they're stuck together and they don't even have no kids there's just a lot of money being exchanged I just uh they call David Ortiz Big Poppy can come home and fix it I'm blaming Devers grow up man that's a lot of money go go stand upside down for what they're paying you okay it's the JR Sport Breeze Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network when we come back we're going to talk about an organization paying their respects to a legend somebody in Seattle is getting their number retired we'll talk about that get into a few things that took place this day in sports history it is the JR Sport Breeze Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network hey it's the end of the show you know what that means it's time for us to talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history back back back back back in the days when I was young I'm not a kid anymore but some days I sit and wish I was a kid again it's time for this day in sports history you see back in those days we had radio and you couldn't see anything and it was primitive and lousy and we liked it on the JR Sport Breeze Show I wish I was 50 years younger and I'd kick your ass it is June 2nd the year is 2025 it's been that way all day long but if we go back quite a few years we had some eventful things that took place this day in sports history let's go back to June 2nd the year is 2007 how about this Lebron James the Cleveland Cavaliers they beat the Pistons in the Eastern Conference Finals to advance to their first NBA Finals in franchise history that also means this was Lebron's first Finals the Cavs won in six games 98 to 82 but in that sixth game Booby Gibson went off 31 points five threes Lebron had 20 points in the closeout game he lost his mind in the game prior to that Lebron walked away with the MVP in the Eastern Conference Finals let's listen to that final call as Lebron went to his first Finals along with the Cavs this is courtesy of the NBA on TNT man this and his Spurs beat him it's such a crazy situation too by the way to think that every reference of the NBA on TNT there there won't be any new ones not for the foreseeable future we know that the uh well at least the show inside the NBA is now moving to uh ESPN so things are things are changing we saw the final game of this weekend with the Pacers in the Knicks that's that's some history as well hey June 2nd 2010 oh this is a bad one I remember this Armando Galarraga this man was pitching for the Detroit Tigers against Cleveland he was throwing a perfect game he was down to a final out he needed one more out at first base the the hitter the batter at the time hits a first and Jim Joyce the umpire called him safe when he was clearly out Armando Galarraga still won the game a one-hit shutout of the Tigers beat Cleveland three to nothing but this was just a massive disaster for Jim Joyce listen to this from Fox Sports Detroit ground ball right side Cabrera will cut it off Galarraga covers he's out oh he's safe he is safe he is safe at first base and here comes Jim Leyland oh my goodness release yeah nobody wants to hear uh no nobody wanted to hear from Jim Leyland uh trust and believe that Jim Joyce did apologize directly after the game but there's uh no turning back the hands of time to award somebody with a perfect game I mean they still talk about this to this day that would have been and still I guess was the career highlight for Armando Galarraga hey let's go to 2011 June 2nd 2011 hey LeBron again well I guess it's June so there's gonna be a lot of LeBron a guy been around for a long time the Dallas Mavericks in game two of the NBA Finals they erased a 15-point fourth quarter deficit to tie the series at one game apiece go back to Dallas and Dirk Nowitzki was out there losing his mind in this game Jason Terry led the way with 27 Dirk hit a big three had a big layup and uh Dallas actually um excuse me Dirk led the way 24.11 rebounds uh big three at the end big layup and this is the finals that LeBron lost after he made that uh super team down in Miami let's listen to some highlights from ABC seven to shoot Nowitzki drives with three point six remaining Miami out of timeouts trailing by two James back to way way puts it up for the win off the mark and Dallas has tied the finals with one of the most incredible comebacks in NBA Finals history yeah there was a lot of crap being talked uh heading into that finals about how this was going to be Miami's championship and then uh massive disappointment I remember seeing Chris Bosh he was crying into the tunnel that was uh and that was a bad situation at least for the Miami he had also a few things that took place this day in sports history June 2nd speaking of history congratulations to Randy Johnson already has his number retired out in the desert with the Diamondbacks today the Seattle Mariners let everybody know Randy Johnson the big unit he's going to have his number retired out in Seattle as well listen to this courtesy of their YouTube he was dominant he was intimidating he was electric and he did it with a fire the big unit Randy Johnson he became the first mariner pitcher to throw no hitter in history he became the first baron to pitch in to win the Cy Young Award he gave Seattle its first taste of postseason baseball this is yeah well Randy Johnson that that jersey retirement is going to wait until 2026 I think most people myself I'd say remember Randy Johnson primarily as a mariner and then also obviously with the Arizona Diamondbacks teaming up with Curt Schilling he's the big unit I mean they talked about everything except for him going out there and I know killing that uh killing that bird okay anyway shout out to the big unit Randy Johnson I think he is well I don't think I know he's a photographer now that's a very high perspective from a um a photographer pretty ironic him Ken Griffey Jr is now taking photos but Randy Johnson I think you can book him for a shoot knock yourself out go ahead utilize Google hey the JR sport re-show here on the infinity sports network hey Nico I gotta shut up soon huh yeah
