You're listening to the JR Sport Brief.
It is the JR Sport Brief show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you to everybody tuned in all over North America. Happy Friday to you wherever you are, whatever you're doing. I hope you're safe. I hope you had a tremendous day. I hope all of the good things for you. I really do. I'll be with you for the next three hours. This show gets started every weekday at 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific.
I'm in Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you to our producer holding things down in New York City, Nick Theodora. What a day, what a day, what a day.
What a first style of the show that we've already had. We talked about and heard from Draymond Green. Once again, angry. Hey, we heard from Pat Riley, not angry, but he's like, man, I ain't talking about Jimmy Butler.
Don't ask. He's like, I'm gonna switch this team up too, by the way. He gonna switch it up a team. We heard from Omar Khan, the general manager of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He got rid of George Pickens and he's now a member of the Dallas Cowboys.
He got rid of him and we have so much more to do as the show continues on. How about this? We're about 30 minutes away from the Indiana Pacers attempting to take a 3-0 series lead against the Cleveland Cavaliers. That'd be crazy. And by the way, they'll be on their home court. Let's see if Tyrese Halliburton has to knock down another game winning shot.
We got the Nuggets and Thunder in action later on tonight as well. Hey, we got a guest. Tori Penso is a referee. She's, she's one of the top female referees on earth. And she's also a mother multiple times, mom, multiple time mother. Yeah. Like multiple times, multiple time mom. She'll be here later on in the show. I like sports.
That's why the hell we're here. I also like mothers. Well, not Tori. I like mother's day.
I want to celebrate a mother. Gotta be careful. You're not trying to get in trouble. Anyway, Tori will join us later on in the show. We'll talk some more. Baseball. I still can't believe, well, I can't believe Rafael Devers is just being, he's being hardheaded, not listening to his bosses.
We got a lot to get into as the show continues on. If you want to call me up on this beautiful Friday, it may be ugly where you are, but let's just pretend it's beautiful. 888-710-4ISN is the number.
That's 888-710-4ISN. You can find me online. I exist on the internet. I'm at JR Sportbrief.
You can go ahead and reach me in either one of those places. Of course, you can listen on the Odyssey app, your local affiliates Sirius XM375 and a smart speaker, All Infinity Sports Network. Technology is amazing. Just continues to go faster and faster. The innovations are nuts. Another one of these driverless cars just rolled up on me today and just to the right of me, I look over and I'm just like, man, if my grandfather was still alive, what the hell would he be thinking? He's like, what the hell is this?
He's just driving around and there's a car with no drive in it. Got social media. We got people going into outer space or whatever the next layer of space is. We got a lot of technology.
It's a beautiful thing. Times advance and so do people, right? Things change. People change as they get older. We all get older and technology just keeps going and going and going.
And then some of us, we like to relive our youth the best way that we can. Someone like Bill Belichick, this man has made plenty of jokes, maybe not jokes over the past 25 years about technology, about how he feels about things. Bill Belichick is old school. He's like, I'm never using my face. What a joke.
MySpace and Facebook. Bill Belichick, funny guy. But now he has a girlfriend who's 50 years younger than him. When Bill Belichick won his first championship, well, when he was on the New York Giants, how about that?
She wasn't even a thot. When he won his first championship as a head coach with the Patriots. Well, she she wasn't even born, which is crazy. Bill Belichick, I guess, is having the time of his life. He's on social media pages with her.
She's in commercials and it's gotten weird. They made fun of him at Tom Brady's roast and it went very public and they're like, oh, they met on the plane. But then when Bill Belichick was asked about it a couple of weeks ago, as he was having a chat on CBS Sunday morning, he was specifically asked about his girlfriend, Jordan Hudson, and Bill Belichick and her. They were like, we ain't talking about our relationship.
OK. You have Jordan right over there. Everybody in the world seems to be following this relationship. They've got an opinion about your private life.
It's got nothing to do with them, but they're invested in it. How do you deal with that? Never been too worried about what everybody else thinks. Just try to do what I feel like is best for me and what's right.
How did you guys meet? Not talking about this. No, no.
Oh, boy. OK. Now, I agree. But Bill Belichick does is Bill Belichick's business.
It could be creepy to me, be creepy to you, be creepy to nobody is creepy. It's his business. What he does and who he does it with is Bill Belichick's business.
But he is. The new head coach of North Carolina football. And it is reasonable to think about how all of this publicity, like what type of effect is it having on Bill Belichick, his ability to lead the program, and then also the fact of being a distraction.
Like one of the reasons that Chador Sanders had this big old draft slide and wasn't selected, you know, as the second top quarterback or the second quarterback after Cam Ward is because people looked at Chador Sanders and they said distraction, distraction, distraction. We don't want them. We don't want what comes with them. We don't want the Dion. We don't want the potential celebrity.
We don't want the distraction. Bill Belichick might be building his own distractions in North Carolina, so much so that Pablo Torre was sitting down. You know, he sits down in Miami, Florida, and Pablo Torre basically said he is hearing that Bill Belichick's girlfriend is so much of a distraction on so many emails and all the correspondence that the University of North Carolina basically said she can't come to work with you, Bill. She's not allowed at the facility.
Listen to what he said. Two sources at the University of North Carolina tell me that there has been a decision was made last week by the higher ups inside the athletic department that had hired Bill Belichick to be the highest paid public employee, not just coach in the state of North Carolina at $10 million a year. And that decision was that Jordan Hudson is no longer allowed in the football building. She is not allowed on the football field.
Don't think you'll be hearing much from Jordan moving forward. Oh, OK. Oh, that came out earlier today. OK, that was that came out early this morning. The news was everywhere. Oh, Bill Belichick's girlfriend has been banned from the facility. Not talking about this. No, no.
She's gone. That was the news. And then later in the day, you want to talk about distractions like a guy called up a couple of weeks ago is like, hey, Jay, what Bill Belichick does is his business.
I'm like, yeah, it is. But the man works for a football team. He works for a university. He is a coach. It is public business.
And what he does and how he conducts himself has bearing on the football team, especially if he's going to participate in such things, which he has. And so you want to know why now all of this is out here. When you have North Carolina, you think the University of North Carolina wants to be involved in this crap. They had to put out a statement. You think they had this plan when they hired Bill Belichick. They had to put out a statement. Listen to this. While Jordan Hudson is not an employee of the university or Carolina athletics, she is welcome to the Carolina football facilities.
The school said in a statement Jordan will continue to manage all activities related to Coach Belichick's personal brand outside of his responsibilities for Carolina football and the university. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. What are we doing here? This this is where we're at right now.
This is where we are in the world. All these years, 25 years of grumpy ass Bill Belichick, all these years of Bill Belichick chopping the media down, not giving an ounce. This is being just being nasty all these years. When Bill Belichick is one year removed from the NFL, we sat down and actually look like a a damn good guy. It's like, oh, yeah, he's a normal dude who loves football.
This is great. Turn on the TV. Bill Belichick here. Bill Belichick there.
Oh, my God. He's actually talking to the media. And before he even starts his next job. There's no conversation about Bill Belichick, the football coach. It's about Bill Belichick and his his love interest. And this is what they did. This is what he did.
And I said, well, I'm not going to assume this is what she got him to do. We got Bill Belichick on the beach and she's dressed up as a mermaid. Right. They're doing Halloween. Good for them. We got Bill Belichick hanging out with his.
I think she's a beauty queen or whatever she is, a gymnast, beauty queen, a cheerleader. He's over here doing yoga with her on the beach. Why do this? Shouldn't you just be coaching a football team?
Is she this much? I mean, look, I mean, every I think everybody, every now and then, maybe they got something so good it changed their lives. I know it happened to Russell Wilson. Maybe this is happening to Bill Belichick.
But not for a guy who's been miserable. His entire career. Come on now. Could you see Doc Rivers on the ground doing yoga?
Come on. Tom Thibodeau, whenever the New York Knicks give him the boot. Tom Thibodeau, I don't I don't know what his personal life looks like. I don't know if he has one.
You imagine Tom Thibodeau having a young hot girlfriend and all of a sudden he's the toast of the town. Bill Belichick made his private life public. I don't know what the hell Andy Reid does. OK, I don't know what bootenholzer does. You know, I can go back. I can go through a lot of coaches. I don't know who any of these guys.
I have no idea. Bill Belichick is screwing up his reputation. And it goes beyond that because Pablo Torre didn't just say that Bill Belichick is just girlfriend has been banned from the facility.
He continues on. Pablo Torre says after speaking with numerous sources close to Belichick's family, they feel his relationship. You know, the 50 year old age gap. I think there's a lot of families who would feel that way. They think that this relationship is tarnishing his legacy. And look, you can't take away from Bill Belichick, the coach, what he did in New England. But it's not too late for things to be a disaster in North Carolina. Pablo Torre says people are worried that she is putting some stink on this guy's name.
And that is that that is a real possibility. Bill Belichick's name shouldn't be associated with just some relationship with a 23 year old, which is kind of creepy to me, certainly is like we should be thinking about Bill Belichick, the coach who's going to be quarterbacking for North Carolina. What can we expect from Bill Belichick in year number one?
We should be hearing absolutely nothing about his personal life. But it's Bill Belichick's fault. I know there was a point in time you want to talk about great head coaches.
Phil Jackson, he was with Jeannie Buss. He was with the the boss's daughter. That that happens sometimes, by the way, happens a lot. Hanging out with the boss's daughter. Oh, my goodness.
Anyway, not me. It's just it ends bad. I don't think this is going to end good for Belichick and maybe it does and good for him if he can have a little bit of a fairy tale here. But for a guy who has coached twenty nine seasons for a man who is just trying to have the well, he ain't going to have the most wins ever. He's third behind Shula and Hallis. He's third all time in coaching victories. This man has six Super Bowl championships. He has another two championships as the defensive coordinator for the New York Giants.
This man has 31 playoff wins. He is one of the greatest coaches of all time, not just in the NFL, but sports period. He's no longer wanted in the NFL. He's the new head coach of North Carolina. And Bill Belichick has garnered more attention for the young lady that he's hanging out with. Then he is for coaching this college program. That is not the Belichick way. Bill Belichick is whipped and it's not a good look.
I know them guys, them folks, everybody in North Carolina, they are shaking it. We got to write a statement saying what? I bet you Bill Belichick's girlfriend made him write it, too.
Hey, write this. Correct it. Correct it. Send this email out right now. Put out the statement.
Say that I'm not bad. I just hope that Bill Belichick, like a lot of older gentlemen. I hope he's not being taken for a ride. Not necessarily a financial ride. Let me put it to you this way.
And some people like to be taken for a ride. I hope he's not being used. I hope he's not being taken advantage of. I hope that she's not trying to build and take fame off the name of Bill Belichick. I hope Bill Belichick is. I hope he's OK. You know, situations we say blink twice if you're fine.
Blink twice. Bill Belichick. This is not the Belichick way.
It's sad. I just hope Bill Belichick doesn't go out sad. Who would have thought that this is how things end? I don't think he's won a national championship with North Carolina and maybe the Tar Heels start to play and nobody's thinking about his girlfriend unless she's in a suite and the camera's on her all the time. And maybe ultimately at some point she leaves.
I do not know. But Bill Belichick, his legacy is going to be destroyed now. This is a guy who already had to deal with deflate gate.
Deal with spy gate. Maybe he had to deal with it all. This man, Bill Belichick. People won't forget what he did on the football field.
But opening up his personal life this late in life, in his career, that part could be an ugly, ugly footnote. I'm wishing Bill Belichick the best because this talking about Bill Belichick's 23-year-old girlfriend never in my life would I have thought. The J.R. Sportbree Show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. 888-710-4ISN.
That's 888-710-4ISN. I know Bill Belichick and Brady couldn't stand each other for a while. Maybe Bill Belichick needs to hit up Tom Brady for advice on dealing with women. Maybe. No, you know what? That's probably a bad idea.
That's probably a bad idea. I'm going to get to your calls on the other side of the break. We're going to take a look at this Pacers and Cavaliers game, which is about 10 minutes away, actually, from starting.
We got a lot to do. It's the J.R. Sportbree Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. It is the J.R. Sportbree Show on the Infinity Sports Network. 888-710-4ISN.
That's 888-710-4ISN. There was a report today from Pablo Torre that said Bill Belichick, his family feels that he is tarnishing his reputation with his young girlfriend, that the legacy of Bill Belichick might be in danger. Hanging out with this woman that is 50 years his junior. There was a report today that said she's been banned from the facilities at North Carolina. North Carolina had to put out a statement like they don't got better things to do, basically saying we didn't ban Bill Belichick's girlfriend from the facility. She's welcome. Now, she's not employed here, but she still handles all his personal business.
She can come here anytime. That's the statement put out by college. It's not a good look for Bill Belichick.
I'm hoping by the time we get to August, it's all football. Hopefully this is good for him to sell the book, get the books out. People got awareness of the book because of the young girlfriend. If there was no young girlfriend, nobody would care about the book. Sorry, Bill. I'm sure this book will be a New York Times bestseller. And his legacy, I don't think is tarnished.
He just might have an ugly footnote at the end. OK, I hope this works out. 888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4ISN.
Do you think Bill Belichick is potentially ruining his reputation and his legacy? Call me up. Let's talk to Greg. Greg is here from Maryland. Greg, you're on the J.R. Sport Brief Show.
What do you think? Yes, sir. Good evening. I'm a Marylander. I'm not the biggest Carolina fan. However, over the years I've been astonished at their success, their immense success in basketball. I'm also astonished with Mr. Belichick's success with the Patriots. Therefore, my point is I'd like to see him win in Carolina. I'm not the biggest Carolina fan, but I'd like to see him get them a national championship they've never won in football. His personal life, you know, I'm Christian.
So, you know, I have my choice of how I would go about my marital situation. He has his relationship with God that he answers to. I'm not too worried about that. He answers to God. I just like to really see him bring his successful football ways to Carolina. And I like to see them win. You don't think his personal relationship that is rather public right now has some type of impact or bearing on how he has to do his job or his standing at work? I think he can win. You know, like I said, I'm Christian, so I have my way of doing things. I don't exactly agree with that.
But I still think despite that, he can win in Carolina. But at some point, I mean, his personal life is going to have to answer to God. OK. All right. Well, thank you, Greg, for calling from Maryland.
Appreciate that. Yeah, but Bill Belichick has to answer to his employer. That's the part. Like who goes to work and they got to you got to your personal business is just plastered all on Front Street. And nobody want to deal with that.
Like, think about think about this. North Carolina hired the man. And they got to put out press releases about his girlfriend. What?
This is what happens. You bring in Bill Belichick. And I'm not going to say he has you by the cojones, but you bring in Bill Belichick and you got to you got to bend over a little bit. You gave the guy 10 million dollars. I don't want to say he's the boss, but you got to play nice right now. He hasn't even coached the game. No boss wants to answer to nonsense and that that has nothing to do with the program.
It's just it's it's an added and unnecessary distraction. Eight eight eight seven ten for ISN. That's eight eight eight seven ten for ISN. Dave is here from Tampa.
You're on the J.R. Sportbreeze. Show us up, Dave. OK, let me take my take to Bill a check. How can you or I take this guy seriously in any capacity and with what he's got going on? Oh, I mean, he does have a track record as a football coach. That part can't be erased. But it's just a parameter of I mean, I'm 66 years old, I was a singer and rock band from 50 to 60, and I wouldn't even think of, you know, being with a 20. It's just the creep factor alone.
I mean, I look at him as one of the best coaches of all time. And now I got to look at this every time. Tell me this.
Every time I look at Bill a check, I see this 24 year old girl. That's all I see. Right. Right. For now. For now.
Like, will your perspective change by the time August and September rolls around? Well, I can only say if she's going to be in the picture, I cannot take this guy seriously for his age. And the fact none of us saw this coming. None of us saw this coming, man.
Yeah, nobody nobody did. Well, apparently they've been in the relationship for you know what now that I think about it. What is it? What has it been reported? Two or three years, right?
So she's she was like barely able to drink. I Dave, I get your point, brother. I got you. I got you. Yeah. All right, bro.
Thank you for calling from Tampa. Yeah. OK. Damn. Wow.
Yeah. When you look at it that way, I looked at it from the perspective of, oh, yes, she wasn't born when he won his first championship. And then, oh, yeah, they've been together a few years, but she's only twenty three years old. Twenty three.
Twenty four. Either way, he met her at college. OK, whatever, whatever. To each his own, not to meet. Oh, no, not that. And I'm younger than Bill Belichick.
I don't want nobody. Twenty three years old. Come on now. Well. Hey, Nick, you think you think Bill Belichick's reputation is is taking a hit right now? Maybe temporarily, but in the long run, I think people, you know, will still look at him as, you know, the best head coach ever. So I think temporarily it's a bit of a hit. But, you know, I think in the long run, people will look past it.
It depends on how like how how how long is she going to be around? I like think about this. We already got a statement today from North Carolina. They had the answer to a report from Pablo Torre on a podcast. OK, this isn't CBS morning news who said this. This is not ESPN who plastered this. This is not the NFL network. This is Pablo Torre, who's a he's a journalist.
He's well known. This guy just basically said on a podcast like she's banned from the facility. I heard she's banned.
I spoke to a few people. They said she's not allowed. North Carolina had to put out a statement about that. If Bill Belichick breaks up with this woman or this woman breaks up with Bill Belichick and it's just it just quietly goes away, what are we going to get a confirmation from North Carolina?
Like if I'm paying tuition at UNC and I just opened up my email one day and I see this stupid thing sitting there, this release, I'm like, what does this have to do with anything? What does this have to do with football? What does this have to do with our quarterback? How is Bill Belichick building the team? And we got reports about his girlfriend who's just young as me.
Like, what are we doing here? Hey, I want to ask, what do you what are your thoughts? You think Bill Belichick is he's not looking all that good right now, huh?
No, not at all. For a guy who has shunned attention throughout his professional career, he has certainly brought a lot of it on himself now. Yeah.
And unwanted attention. And he's back. Here's the thing. He's not a stupid man. Like, we know he's not a dumb man. We know for what he's done for the past twenty five years, he is more than cognizant of how he is portrayed and the messaging that he's putting out. I mean, this woman must be the greatest thing that's ever happened to him because this is seemingly out of character from what we've seen from him over. Forget twenty five years, almost the past 40 years.
Yeah. He's must have been having some stupid sandwiches or something, because you have this person and I'm fine with with a woman calling the shots, but she's what, 20. She's in her 20s.
I forget how old she is exactly. Bill Belichick is a Hall of Fame coach. He is almost the winningest coach of all time in NFL history. As you said, he's not he's not a dummy. He knows what the deal is. Yeah. Well, you talk about him eating stupid sandwiches. She must be serving them up and they must taste good. OK, with a side of mustard. Yeah.
Well, I'm sure she got mustard to act. It's the J.R. Sportbreeze show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. We're going to take a break when we come back. Hey, we got more basketball. We got the Pacers and Cavs. We'll talk about the Pacers and Cavs. Speaking of football, unfortunately, I know Bill Belichick's relationship isn't done yet.
It appears that Nick Chubb is done in Cleveland. We'll get into that. We'll talk more basketball, more football.
We got a lot to do. It is the J.R. Sportbreeze show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. 888-710-4ISN.
That's 888-710-4ISN. Oh, almost had to sneeze. The cough button is a great thing. You guys don't have to listen to me sneeze on the air or cough. Who wants to hear that? Nobody. I don't want to be next to nobody.
It's nothing worse. I'm like, I thought at some point in time I'm going off on a tangent. I thought you learned in kindergarten.
I thought you learned when you were five years old. Cover your face, move around. Why are you coughing in my face? Why are you sneezing in my face?
What are we doing? Why are you sneezing in your hands? Oh, my God. Oh, man. Not going to name no names. I was in a studio with somebody on air. This individual sneezed directly into their hands and then proceeded to wipe their hands on their pants. And I'm like, come on, what are we doing here?
Come on. Look, if you live in the woods by yourself. If you just work by yourself, you don't have human interaction, you don't got to shake somebody's hand like that, then you do what you do, OK?
I can go down a list of things that you can do by yourself. But if you if you're around, if you're in public. Like the least that you can do is say, you know what, be a bad idea.
To spread my germs all over someplace where somebody else can interact with, like, what are we doing? I thought you learned that when you're young, I guess not. Cover your mouth. How many times I heard that as a kid. Cover your mouth. It came a point in time I didn't need to hear it because I just did it.
Anyway. I sneezed. And I knew enough to still cover my damn face here in the studio, which I am by myself that also clean before and after I leave 888-710-4ISN.
That's 888-710-4ISN. Right before the break, we talked about Bill Belichick. This man has all of his business out on Front Street right now, even got North Carolina.
Kind of putting in their two cents about his girlfriend and like, man, you got nothing better to do. Anyway, good luck to Bill Belichick. We got some basketball. Just getting ready to get underway here. Between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Pacers, they're minutes away from their start right now. Pacers trying to go up 3-0 against the Cavs.
You just heard from Rich Ackerman a few minutes ago in the last game where Tyrese Halliburton knocked down that that game winning three, which, by the way, the Pacers looked like they were going to lose. The Cavaliers had no garland. He's playing.
They had no Mobley. He's playing. DeAndre Honey with a bad thumb.
He is playing. The Cavaliers, they got some players. The guys are back. Now, is that going to be enough to make a difference in Indianapolis? I'm not so sure.
You want to tell me? That the Pacers won't pick up at least one more victory? They're going to be swept the rest of the way? I think Cleveland is going to take one at home. I think Cleveland is going to win tonight. We just have to see. Donovan Mitchell lost his damn mind in the last game and they still lost.
He had 48 points. Donovan Mitchell knows he needs to do his part to help turn things around. He says we will be ready for this game. Listen, I have no doubt everybody in the locker room is ready for Friday. It sucks things, but we've got to go out there and take care of business. Otherwise, that's it. But I believe in everybody in the locker room.
We believe in each other. We'll figure it out. Then when he says take care of businesses, he he mean if we if we're down 3-0, is it cooked?
He wouldn't say such a thing. I mean, we all know it if the Pacers win tonight. Yeah, this series is over. I don't care who's back and on the basketball court for him. Meanwhile, Pacers coach Rick Carlisle, Mr. Personality, he is not unless he's destroying the officials.
That's when his personality really comes out and shines. Rick Carlisle says, yeah, we're up 2-0, but we can't go out there thinking we got this in the bag. We've just got to do our very best to maintain the kind of edge you got to have headed into, you know, a third game when you when you want to come. Yeah, well, he's been around. He's won championships like Rick Carlisle knows what the deal is. Rick Carlisle knows what it means to be a winner. I mean, is he going to find that with this team?
I think not. But I think ultimately he has himself a young squad that can continue to move. He has a young squad right now that could legitimately move forward and go to the Eastern Conference Finals. And we talked about the New York Knicks earlier in the show. They have an opportunity to go up 3-0 tomorrow against the Boston Celtics. New York fans would love that.
New York Knicks Pacers? For people who are old enough to remember, could take us right back to the 90s. I mean, we got Tyrese Halliburton. I mean, from his body type to his behavior to just being an irritant. He reminds a lot of he reminds me just this obnoxious a pain in the behind.
You're just sick of the guy. That's why the league voted him as overrated. He's like Reggie Miller. I saw Reggie Miller running here in Atlanta one day. Why Atlanta?
Well, Turner Studios is here. You know, Reggie Miller travels to call these games that he was calling a Hawks game. And he was running in the park because what else is Reggie Miller going to do? That's what he spent his whole damn career doing. Just running and running and running and shooting.
Pain in the ass. He was jogging here in Atlanta down a block from the hotel. And I'm like, is that Reggie? Of course, it's Reggie. He's six foot seven. It's kind of middle of the day, so it's quiet.
Middle of the week is not a weekend. And Reggie Miller, I'm like, he is out here on the track. Just jogging. I've never seen a human being in my life that I just wanted to, you know, stick my foot out and triple. I would never do such a thing. But it was it crossed my brain like, oh, man, if there was somebody that I wanted to trip, it'd be Reggie Miller. I should.
Nick, I should have tripped Reggie Miller. Yeah, go for it. It's too late now. I mean, you should have gone for it. It's OK. Now, if you have another opportunity, then definitely go for it.
Yeah. And that would have been good. Any other time I see him, it'll be in an arena. I'm not hanging out at his house. I don't know where he lives, but he was out in the public. He was there there for the not taking. That doesn't sound good.
The opportunity presented itself presented itself. I'll trip Reggie Miller next time. But no, if the New York Knicks take on the Pacers.
There's going to be a lot of juice behind that matchup to even think that the New York Knicks a got past the Boston Celtics first and then be look this team in the eye. That's. That's a wild one.
And let's see if we can actually get there right now as it stands. The score is six to nothing. Cleveland. Keep in mind they're in Indiana for the first game.
Let's see what the Pacers can do. And speaking of Cleveland. What a sad, sad situation this is in Cleveland, specifically for Nick Chubb. You might recall. Well, you probably know this.
Maybe you don't. Nick Chubb is he's one of the most beloved figures. In Cleveland right now. Just period, this guy shows up to work. He's one of these unheralded backs that we have in the NFL. I mean, at his peak that you give the guy the ball, he's rushing for more than five yards of carry. And then in twenty twenty three, this do play two games and then he completely ripped his leg up. He was gone.
That knee was torn to shreds his knee bent in a way that I'd never want to see a human's leg bent before. He comes back last year, is not the same player, not getting all the carries, only played in eight games, had three hundred thirty two yards rushing to go along with three touchdowns, wrote a beautiful letter to all of the Browns fans about his return and how much they meant to him. But Nick Chubb is probably done in Cleveland. OK, they brought in Quinshan Judkins.
And why the hell would you do that? You already got more running backs on the team. Nick Chubb is putting up videos online of himself working out.
In what world would he be back with the squad? Well, we got word today from Andrew Berry was the GM. He was on ninety two three to fan and he was asked about Nick Chubb being a part of this Browns team.
And damn it, I think everybody kind of knew the answer. Listen to this. Have you talked to Nick Chubb recently? Certainly kept in contact with him and his reps leading into the draft.
So depending on what you say recently, yes. But we haven't really necessarily been in strong communication after the draft. So you can't rule anything out with him coming back?
I wouldn't rule anything out, but I would say that it's probably increasingly unlikely. Like we do have two young guys that we liked. We think Jerome plays a role and it just it's basically kind of maybe seeing how the roles shake out. And you know, in the running back room, look, you're never going to rule out someone as near and dear to our heart as Nick. And I would expect him to take another step, being a year removed from the injury. But I'd say it's maybe a return is less likely, at least in the short term with us right now. Ford is Jerome and basically he's done unless somebody gets hurt, which is always a possibility with running backs unless somebody goes down and Nick Chubb still doesn't have a job. To think that he'll be back with Cleveland is like, don't don't waste your time. He gone. He's finished.
It's crazy to think about. He's been there since 2018. Like running backs in the NFL, they might as well age like dogs.
He's been there since 2018 from here in Georgia. Dislocated knee torn ACL, MCL, PCL, LCL cartilage damage, his leg bent the wrong damn way. Yeah, it doesn't matter how much you love a guy that comes a point in time in the NFL. These teams will just tell you goodbye.
Good luck to Nick Chubb. Somebody will give him a chance, even if it's not in Cleveland. It's the JR Sportbree show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. Speaking of Cleveland, the Cavaliers, they're in Indianapolis right now and they are hot. Cavs are leading the Pacers 11 to three right out of the gate. Of course, there's a lot more basketball to go.
This is crazy. We got even another game tonight. We got the Nuggets and we have the Thunder and I already told you about tomorrow's game. We have the Knicks and the Celtics. The Knicks are trying to do the same thing. The Pacers are trying to go up three oh in their respective series. The Knicks are taking on the Celtics tomorrow afternoon.
It's the JR Sportbree show on the Infinity Sports Network. We will take a break. We'll get into some of that basketball. And talking about a young NFL player, it looks like Abdul Carter has finally made up his mind about a jersey. Rafael Devers has still made up his mind. He's like, I ain't moving. We got more to discuss here on the Infinity Sports Network.
