I'll be hanging out with you for one more hour. This show gets started every weekday at 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific. I'm in Atlanta. Thank you to our producer helping to hold things down tonight, Nico Scarlatos. And thank you to you for listening on the free Odyssey app, your local Infinity Sports Network affiliate.

If you have Sirius XM, it's channel 375. And if you have a smart speaker, ask the speaker to play the Infinity Sports Network. Oh, we've had a busy day. NBA playing is underway. We got NFL players who might be moving around.

We have rumors in regards to some of the draft prospects in the NFL next week. Today has been a big day in sports history. We talked about Jackie Robinson. Yeah, April 15th, 1947.

He broke the color barrier. And of course, at the end of the show, we'll talk about some other things that took place this day in sports history as well. So it has been a very busy day in the world of sports. Hey, you want to be a part of the show, you can do that too. 888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4ISN. You can also find me online. I exist everywhere on the internet. I am at JR Support Brief. That's at JR Support Brief all over the place on social media.

And thank you oh so much. Last hour, we had a great chat with the president of FIFA. And you don't know FIFA? We spoke to the president. He's like Roger Goodell, Adam Silver. He's all the bosses. He's all the commissioners rolled into one. He's like 10 times all of those guys. And we had a great chat.

His name is Gianni Infantino. We discussed the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup that's going to be taking place in 11 cities across the United States of America in June and July. So if you missed that conversation, go ahead and hit rewind. Because whether you are a soccer fan or not, you gonna hear about it. Come this summertime might as well get hip to it now.

You can go ahead and hit rewind on the free Odyssey app. And then we talked about some of the news pieces and stories that we heard about throughout the course of the day. I'm going to get into some of those NFL rumors in a second. I want to give you an update here as the NBA playing games, well at least one of them, the first one is underway. Right now down in Orlando, the Magic are beating the Atlanta Hawks. The score is 64 to 49. The winner of this game, I don't know if we want to call this a prize. The winner of this game is going to advance to take on the number two seeded Boston Celtics. And the loser of this game is going to have to go forward and face the winner of Miami and Chicago on Friday. And so if you win today, you're automatically in.

And if you lose today, you gotta you know, you get a second chance to win on Friday. Not that anybody wants to see what looks like the Atlanta Hawks versus Miami or Chicago. Nobody wants to see that. Now, this is a good game that we'll have in a little bit more than an hour. The Memphis Grizzlies are going to take on the Golden State Warriors. That will be a good one. Golden State Warriors, we know who they have on their squad, Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green, angry as all hell.

And while I guess he's not as angry as John Marant, that's going to be the opposition. So that game is going to be in San Francisco. And if you think about whoever wins that game, they will automatically advance into the seventh seed, where they will take on the Houston Rockets. The loser, well, you get a chance at the Oklahoma City Thunder. If you have the Golden State Warriors, I think same thing for the Grizzlies. You don't want to see the Oklahoma City Thunder right out of the gate.

Sounds like a death wish. And Steph Curry, knowing that they're even in this position, he spoke at the conclusion of their season on Sunday. Steph Curry basically said, man, we got to play in this playing game. But the season isn't over yet. You have to take the positives of where we were two months ago and know our season isn't over. So we would have loved to have taken advantage of these last four games. And you look at that San Antonio game as one that was a tough, tough beat.

But you have to be able to wash it down the drain quick. Man, speaking of things being over. Talked about the NFL gave you some NFL news. Apparently, things are over in Miami between Jalen Ramsey and the Miami Dolphins. If you're asking me, I think the Miami Dolphins, I think that's been over.

OK, especially to a Tonga below. I'm not trusting him to go into the frozen food aisle, let alone, you know, march up to Kansas City or Baltimore or Buffalo and actually win me a playoff game. And so Jalen Ramsey, after being traded to the Miami Dolphins in twenty twenty three, apparently his time is done. He thinks it's time to leave. And so do the Miami Dolphins. They think it's time for him to go, despite the fact that they gave him a contract extension last year, have signed him through twenty twenty eight. They think it's they think it's over. And a matter of fact, the Dolphins general manager, Chris Greer, he wanted to make it very clear that this three time all pro Jalen Ramsey.

Well. He didn't ask to leave. We just all decided this time to part ways. At the end of the day, Jalen did not ask for a trade. So we went through the process and I just felt that after numerous conversations and then talking last week with Jalen and his agent that it was best to move forward and it was best interest of the Miami Dolphins and for Jalen Ramsey.

OK. Best interest for a star go our. More mutual ways. You go this way, I go that way. Dolphins ain't doing that. They need to rip it down.

And the faster you do it, the easiest and I get it. The whole name of the game is to go out there and make money. Nobody wants to just rip the team down, but nothing's going on with the Dolphins. Tyreek Hill doesn't need to be there, doesn't want to be there.

That guy has publicly campaigned to move. And then he says he doesn't want to move to a tongue of a lower who the hell is trusting him as the starting quarterback. And then Jalen Ramsey is 30 years old. Is he who he was a few years ago as at his physical peak and prime?

No, he's not. Unfortunately, cornerbacks, they age a little faster than the wide receivers that they have to go out there and cover. And so Jalen Ramsey, who decides to pick him up with $21 million left on his contract this year? All I say is.

Good luck. He's going to get moved maybe as soon as as next week. Talked about the Baltimore Ravens. No guarantees that Mark Andrews is going to be back there GM DaCosta. He basically said, listen, I'm not giving any guarantees on Mark Andrews. I know he dropped that pass and that divisional matchup of the AFC between the Buffalo Bills and the Ravens. He dropped that two point conversion.

He called him a warrior, said there's no guarantees that Mark Andrews will return to the team with one year left on his contract. Man, if I were the Ravens, no Lamar Jackson, I know you got his air, likely you just added DeAndre Hopkins. I would still keep on the guy. That my my man has been throwing passes to since he's been a rookie in the league, I would have moved on from him.

And then we also got word today, so much NFL news. About Travis Hunter, Travis Hunter, he spoke to CBS. And we all know that this Heisman Award winner wants to play offense.

He wants to play defense. We know that this upcoming Saturday, Travis Hunter is going to have his number retired by the University of Colorado already. People are like, man, Cordell Stewart didn't even get this. How come Chador and Travis already getting their number retired?

We know the answer. His name is Deion Sanders. But either way, Travis Hunter spoke to CBS. And I guess he wants to put a little pressure on some teams. I don't think he needs to. He says, if I don't play offense, if I don't play defense, then I'm not playing in the NFL at all.

Listen to this conversation that Travis had with Garrett Podell. If you had to choose between playing only one position in the NFL or never playing football again, what would you choose? It's never playing football again. That's how passionate you are about playing both positions.

Why is that? Yes, I've been doing it my whole life. I love being on the football field. I feel like I can dominate on each side of the ball.

So I really enjoy doing it. Yeah. What else he's going to say, right? You just talk to somebody and they get to talk.

It's just one of those things. What is he going to say? I'm going to do it happily. I'm just they want me to play offense. I'll just show up and I'll throw my defensive cleats away. I ain't doing that. Come on, man.

There's so many rumors. I can't. Can we get to the draft next Thursday already?

Like, I'm not trying to hit the fast forward button on life, but I am just ready to move on. It's really that simple. 888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4ISN. We talked about Jalen Milro. He's going to be meeting with the Los Angeles Rams. We got Chador meeting with the New York Giants. What a quarterback room that would be. Russell Wilson and Chador and Jamis Winston. That'd be fun. So many rumors. Let's get to the draft next week. Let's move some pieces. Let's see where Aaron Rodgers goes. Let's see if Kirk Cousins is going to suffer here in Atlanta for another year as a backup.

It's just people are spending money left and right to park people on the bench. If only I should be so lucky. 888-710-4ISN. Hey, let's go to Cincinnati, Ohio, which is going to be a destination for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup. Lee is on the JR Sport Reshow on the Infinity Sports Network. What's up, Lee?

Nonetheless, JR. I hate to say it, but FIFA World Cup is the most awesome thing in the world. The man who's the CEO over all that, I can't even imagine. Billions of viewers. We're not talking about millions. Billions.

Over half the world. But soccer just doesn't do it for me. But you know, it does do it for me more than anything else. Just be quite honest with you. Wait a second. Well, you know, the Florida Gators, you know, like that's not what I was going to say, because like I said, Tommy Fleetwood, I was wrong and I apologize. OK, I told you that he was. Yeah, because I told you I was gonna take you and Hickey out for a steak dinner if he won the Masters because I had I had a dream that was going to happen. And with the odds that I got on a bet. Well, that didn't happen. So I'm going to double down. Do you think do you think we took you seriously when you said that?

You think we took you seriously? Well, you should, because I had a dream about it, man. And dreams usually come true.

Do they? Well, I'll be honest with you. Whose dreams? Do you have dreams come true? Not this one.

No, but I will tell you right now with my wife and that's the biggest dream that I had. And I have to admit that one did come true. So here's what I'm going to do. He wins the next the next the next major case, which is, I think, the PGA championship. I will take you and Hickey and Nico now because he answered the phone.

Whatever state place you want to go to, because I guarantee I'm going to get even better odds than I did with the Masters because it was a Masters in twenty twenty four seconds. Why are you just making bets of things that are not going to come true? What are we doing here? You think cause things like? No, it's because what it is. OK. Yeah. And am I looking at and is it a fairy tale? You darn right.

But fairy tales still come true sometimes. And I'm about to prove that, buddy. And when I do, I'm going to help you out.

And Nico and Hickey. Well, how about this one day? I don't I don't even play the mega millions, but one day if I won the mega millions, I'd give you ten thousand dollars out of it. OK.

I'll tell you right now, we are friends for life, buddy. All right. I mean, that's the type of that's the type of thing that's just shoveling me right now. I'm like, what?

It can make up the absolute truth. OK. Yeah. Nobody does stuff like that. I mean, let's face it. And so why would how cool would that be? How great of the true American story would that be? Awesome.

It'd be off the charts, man. They make a movie out for us. You know that. Well, thank you, Lee. I'll I'll I'll remember this. I'll remember this. Thank you. I'll talk to you later. OK. Thank you. Sounds great, man.

I no doubt about it. I like that. Let's make a bed of things that, you know, everybody knows will never come true. How about that? Nico, do you want to go to dinner in Cincinnati? You want to go out with me, Hickey and Lee?

You want to do that? I mean, it depends where he's taking us. Oh, you picky beggars or choosers like what do you need to eat? Well, no, I'm just saying, like, I don't know if it's worth it to go all the way out to Cincinnati for some Applebee's.

But if he's taking us to a nice, nice, expensive dinner, then it might make the trip worthwhile. When's the last time you had some Applebee's? Oh, it's been a couple of weeks, at least a couple of weeks. Oh, my God. It's been a couple of years. I just I was in the middle of nowhere and I needed to eat. I'm like, this might be the best case.

At least I have an idea of what they got there. Right. So I said, let me just eat at Applebee's.

There's been a couple of times where it's, you know, 1030 p.m. and everything else is closed. So you make a nice little trip over there. Oh, wow. OK. This is not not on not on my list. No disrespect to Applebee's, but.

Yeah, I need to it's been a while and let's just put it that way at the top on my list. Whatever I used to get the sizzling because I think that's safe. Like you can't screw up chicken and some peppers. You know, you know what I'm talking about when they bring out the sizzling platter and it's just chicken and peppers and potatoes. You can't screw that up. Yeah, that's that's that's pretty basic.

Yeah, I don't I don't need nothing that's going to make my stomach do the flips at a later date or a couple hours later, an hour later, 30 minutes later. I do not need that in my life. Let's let's keep on with the phones here. Eight eight eight seven ten for ISN. You want to call me eight eight eight seven ten for ISN. Let's go to Boise, Idaho and talk to Jason. Jason, you're on the JR Sport Brief Show here on the Infinity Sports Network. Hey, my man. Good evening. Thank you for taking the call.

You know, you just said it a couple times. Let's just get this draft over with. I'm a diehard Chargers fan.

Followed on my entire life, obviously, from San Diego at the coast. Ouch. And, you know, since Harbaugh came on with Horowitz, it's like finally, you know, you start to see maybe there's light at the end of the tunnel. Well, coming into this offseason, we thought, oh, man, this is going to be the time now we got cap space. We're going to build this offense around our franchise quarterback. And they let a lot of players, good, bad or indifferent, not sign with this team.

They did nothing to help Herbert. And now all this draft speculation is suddenly starting to turn to they might be looking at a defensive end, an edge rusher or an interior lineman. When do they finally start putting weapons on the offensive side of the ball? I just don't get it. I mean, it's a lot of you just said it's a lot of draft speculation.

And so let's keep this in mind. Harbaugh has been back for a year. They came back and yet they got they got, unfortunately, smoked on that end. But they did go to the postseason. I didn't expect them to be that good. We know Harbaugh wants to build from the inside out.

I don't they need a lot, from my opinion. And I've had this conversation on air. I don't mean to beat a dead horse. I cannot stand Quinton Johnston. It's like he got a job because, you know, his team went into the college football playoff and everybody got enamored. The guy cannot catch a football to save his life. And what you can't do is send out Lad McConkie for another season.

Shout outs to a guy who was a former Georgia Bulldog. You actually need somebody else to go out there and catch the ball. And so they're going to end up with due to happen to be skilled position players as well as defenders.

I I can't imagine any way in which they don't do that. I mean, I would hope that you're right, but it's like all of a sudden as we get closer to the draft, all the speculation about Colston Loveland is now being replaced by again guys on the defensive side. Last year, they passed on Malik neighbors. No, no knock on Joe Alt. He's going to end up being a great player.

I have no doubt about that. But they passed on Malik neighbors to take Joel. They didn't take Brock Bowers. They may not take Colston Loveland. They didn't go after any of the big name free agent wide receivers. It's like, what are they what are they expecting to happen?

Think about this as well. They're a good team. They won 11 games. Let the Chargers continue to build. It's not like they were waddling in mediocrity. I know they laid an egg and we can thank Mr. Herbert for all of his interceptions.

What are we going to say? Hey, maybe if he had some better weapons, he wouldn't throw, you know, a million picks in a football game. I would. Well, I do think that a lot record was a result of their schedule, though. Let's be honest. That schedule was one of the easiest schedules in the NFL. I don't care. I don't care.

You want to build. They had one year. You know, typically you have guys and coaches who come in.

They're looking at you in year one or two. They won 11 games in the first year. They play in a ridiculously tough division. We know the you know who that Patrick Mahomes guy.

Well, they also have to go out there and beat up on. It's not like the Raiders have gotten any worse by bringing in a legitimate quarterback in Geno, although I wouldn't trust him to win a big game. I feel good with the head coach that you have and actually building things out. I don't think it's the worst thing in the world that the Chargers one year after Harbaugh shows up, they're already selecting at number 22 in the upcoming draft.

You can expect a lot of good names to be gone. OK, so a lot of the guys, whether you want to get a tight end or you want to get a wide receiver, they're going to end up with a pass catcher. There's no way in hell that they're going to go throughout this draft and they're not going to get help for Herbert offensively. Just take your time. I know everybody, everybody always wants more and more and more and more. Well, you just can't draft everybody. And once you got it, you got to take time.

I'm not mad. Harbaugh has a philosophy that he has already executed to success. A, we saw with the 49ers, we saw with Stanford and we saw it. What he what he just did, winning a championship out at Michigan. Give him time here with the Chargers. Eleven, I don't get a week's season, week schedule.

Give him time. Let them continue to add talent. Hey, there are worse teams running around. I mean, what would be saying if the Chargers were sitting here at the top of the draft? You'd be saying Harbaugh sucks. He lost his touch. He should have stayed in college and he shouldn't have stayed in college because he would have been punished. Basically, he's punished.

He's not even in college. It's the J.R. sport. We show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. Eight, eight, eight, seven, ten for ISN.

That's eight, eight, eight, seven, ten for ISN. And you know what? Speaking of college, if you anyway, if you want to call me, do that. I want to tell you about an amazing experience that I had at North Carolina State. I want to tell you about one of my favorite people that I've met in my life at NC State and tell you how I met her. Even a small impact and I don't know, just some good vibes. Enough of these losers with the Chargers.

I'll take your phone calls on the other side. I want to tell you about my time at NC State and show love to someone very special. Of course, we'll talk about a few things that happened this day in sports history. It's the J.R. sport we show coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network.

It is the J.R. sport we show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. Hey man, I'm just trying to follow good examples that have been set my way. You got to use what you have in front of you. Do some amazing things with it. If you can, absolutely do things that are going to benefit you. Also, go out there and do things that are going to benefit other people.

It's easy. I know we talked about this earlier in the show. Showed a lot of love to Jackie Robinson. It was fun. April 15, 1947.

He broke the color barrier. Oh yeah, you best believe we're going to talk about Jackie again before we get out of here when we go ahead and discuss a few things that took place this day in sports history. I also want to tell you about someone very special. This is one of my favorite interactions that I've ever had in the sports world up in Raleigh, North Carolina at NC State and I'm going to do that before we get out of here as well. If you want to talk to me, you can do so. 888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4ISN. Let's go to Oregon.

Land of the ducks and beavers and and blazers and other things. Let's talk to Kevin on the JR Sportbreeze Show. What's up, Kevin? Hello, JR.

Thanks. First time caller and long time listener. Hey, on that Chargers thing, you got it right on. Harbaugh's doing a great job and I think people are going to be impressed because I'm seeing at least a 13-win season till they map the draft. Well, you are much more, and thank you, Kevin, for calling from Oregon.

I hear whatever you're driving sounds, I like the engine. I think I do. But look, I don't know about 13 wins, okay? I'm not doing that. You think about the division and what they have to play in. I told you about the teams that they have to compete with.

It's going to be tough. I don't know, in all honesty, if the Chargers are going to go back out there and say, oh, we're just going to go out there and give you another 11 wins. If I got to think about the AFC West, Denver, are they still going to be at 10?

I'm not sure. I would think Las Vegas is going to have more than four. These wins, they have to be evenly distributed in the AFC West.

Kansas City, they went on another 15 games? I don't think so. It's going to be some more balance. We'll find out soon enough. But I'm with you, Kevin, and thank you for calling from Oregon. Things are a little loud in the back. I don't want to say trust in Harbaugh, but in trust in him, I do.

Absolutely. 888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4ISN. We got Russ. He's calling from Boise, Idaho.

You're on the JR Sportbree show. Russ, what's up? Hello. How you doing? I'm amazing.

How are you? Oh, I'm good. Thanks, Mike. Hey, listen, I really enjoy your show. And I really respect a lot of your opinions and things that you build out for all of us to listen to. But I did want to make a couple of statements about the interview that you had with the FIFA president. Yeah, go for it. That's why you're on the radio.

Go for it. Yeah, so I just I have a hard time thinking that it's not a money grab thing before the World Cup starts. So they're starting a brand new tournament.

And it's here in the United States. And FIFA is a very diplomatic thing across the globe. And I think that it's kind of trying to set up the United States for building as much PR as possible before the World Cup starts. I mean, your thoughts? Well, I mean, isn't that what everybody's doing? I mean, isn't the goal of every business to go out there and make money and spread whatever the heck it is they're trying to promote? I mean, is there too much of any difference between what the NFL does?

I mean, we could play the reverse. I have callers who who hit this station and say, hey, J.R., you know what I don't like? I don't like the fact that we're sending NFL games to Europe. I get people who call me up and go, hey, J.R., why do we got NFL games in Berlin and Brazil?

And it belongs to America. Well, the idea for the NFL, like everything else, is to broaden their appeal and make money internationally. These are businesses.

They want to make money. And sports is a beautiful thing. But this is the business of sports.

I don't think FIFA is operating in any different space than the NFL does. The NBA just made an excellent I don't want to say an excellent point. I just sat and listened to an entire press conference.

I watched it about two weeks ago from Adam Silver. Adam Silver said, listen, we got the NBA with basketball. You know what we're trying to do? We might build out an entire euro league. And so making money like that, that's the name of the game.

That's what everybody wants to do. I mean, yesterday we talked about Aaron Judge. Aaron Judge is going to be the captain of Team USA Baseball next year. OK, for what they do, like the World Baseball Classic. Why is Major League Baseball playing games in Tokyo? And why are they doing this in Puerto Rico?

They want to make money. I mean, there's no difference between anything that I just mentioned outside of FIFA. It's a global sport like football, soccer, wherever you call it.

It's global. It's the biggest sport on earth. And so, yes, we know that the World Cup is going to be here next year. Why wouldn't they say, hey, let's go ahead and start up a tournament and have it as a precursor for what we're going to see next year? Money is the name of the game. And if we're going to convert more people in the United States of America into, you know, fans, you're turning them into potential customers, you're growing the sport, you're making more money. I think that's the goal of every single business, just flat and period. Yeah, well, a simple question. Marco Belletti, you run the business to lose money?

Negative. I'm trying to I'm trying to make money. I want as many customers as possible.

As simple as that. Now, I don't know who's goes into business not to make money. 888-710-4ISN.

That's 888-710-4ISN. Speaking of bad business. Oh, my God. Marco, you real excited about these playing games, huh?

You excited about always, always. I love seeing the bottom feeders try to, you know, claw their way in. Ooh, ouch. And what a way to put it. Wow. Well, I mean, we got one that Memphis and Golden State is going to be a good one, right? I'll be a good one. Yeah.

And look, and I say that jokingly, but I'm also going to preface this. Do I think this is good for the NBA? I do.

I do. I think it stops tanking. I don't think it stops tanking. No, I just think, look, when you get game one of the one versus eight, what's more, I don't know, fun, pleasing, get more eyeballs to the set, watching a game where you know that the loser is out or watching game one of a series that you know the eight seed has no chance of winning. So I think this gives the NBA another week of some of some excitement, just something. It doesn't mean that the games are good. It doesn't mean that these teams deserve to be there. But let's be fair, they'd be there anyway.

But instead of getting their ass handed to them by the Thunder this week, they get their ass handed to them by the Thunder next week. You know what? I agree with you. I agree with you. You know what's bad, though?

I'm listening to you talk, Marco. And I'm I don't know if I saw this on YouTube. I don't know. Years ago, maybe. They remind you, have you ever heard of bum fights?

No, I don't know what that is. OK. You know, you said bottom feeders. And I was like, this is like two. These are like two bums. Like these are bum teams that we're watching right now. These are like two bum teams just fighting in the street. Like what are we like? This is just two bums fighting outside. Like what's what's enamored about that? Like these guys are not winning anything.

They're not going to a championship. You could say it's a waste of time, but you call them bottom feeders. I just remember YouTube. They used to have the guys on the street just fighting each other. OK. And that I didn't see. But I will say, if you're watching the two bum watching the two bums fight each other. Yeah. As bad as it is, you're not sure who's going to win.

So there's some intrigue. Now, you watch that same guy or that same bomb or the same scrawny guy or whatever it is going up against, I don't know, Bruce Lee. You know what the outcome is going to be.

Bruce Lee is he's he's taking him out easy. So I feel like at least this gives you something where you're not sure what the outcome is. And isn't that what sports is all about? I know we could say upsets or whatnot, but let's be fair. This is not the NCAA tournament. If you're going to play, especially now that you're not best out of five, you're best out of seven. Who the hell at the bottom of the Eastern Conference is seriously going to put up a fight with the Cavs or the Celtics and a best of seven? Stop it.

Now, the Lando Magic, they on their way to losing already. OK, so that's right. So at least there's some intrigue. This is not like the random weird year where you have, you know, the Dikembe Mutombo nuggets and all that like that stuff that that's rare. The Knicks in ninety nine because they were, you know, strike short in year whatever was lockout. And you had a team that was coming together. The Magic team has been together.

The Hawks have been together forever. These are teams that are not going to be able to put up a fight. Now, could the Warriors, of course, because the Grizzlies, of course, that's going to be a fun one. I hope the Warriors win.

Get John Moran out of here and just move on. That's that's just well, I think I also want to see the Warriors and the Rockets because that's actually intriguing. That'll be a fun. You got the young team versus the old guys.

Yes. Sign me up. Let's get these bum fights over with and get to the the good stuff. Good luck to the Warriors. It's the J.R. Sportbree show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. We come back and get in a couple more of your calls and talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history.

And then I want to show love to some amazing individuals at North Carolina State. It is the J.R. Sportbree show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. You know, before we get into a few things that took place this day in sports history, you know, and we've had a we've had a full show.

Thank you to the president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, for coming through and joining us to talk about the upcoming Club World Cup. You know, we've talked about the NFL draft next week with a lot of the prospects, guys like Travis Hunter, Jalen Milro. When we talked about, you know, what a team like the Chargers might do in the draft, we talked about the NBA playing. We showed love to Jackie Robinson this day, April 15th, 1947. He broke the color barrier. We talked about Travis Hunter, you know, saying, hey, if I can't play both positions, offense, defense, I'm going to quit.

Jalen Ramsey being traded. All of that is is great and good. It's fun. I love sports like you love sports. We all love sports. This is why we're here. You know, but for me personally, I've always said, hey, it's fun for me to talk about sports, but it's also great to utilize sports to do amazing things for other people when and where you can. And so if you're not familiar, maybe you are, maybe you're not. I spent, I don't know, two or three years on and off the road working with Special Olympics just to let people know that anybody with an intellectual disability doesn't matter where you're from or who you are. Everybody should have a chance and an opportunity at sports, which is why whether you happen to be someone with an intellectual disability or you happen to be someone of a different skin complexion like Jackie Robinson at the time in 1947, I personally don't give a damn.

I want people to treat people like people. And one of my stops on the, that was the media for the movement tour. Took me all over the country. I was here in Athens, University of Georgia, New York at Fordham. I was in Gainesville with the Gators. I was with the Cougars of Houston. I went all over the country, coast to coast, school to school, college to college, university to university.

And it was a simple message. Hey, sports can be messy. Try your best to use sports for good when you can. And so I did that in conjunction with Special Olympics, but there was a very special trip that I had with the Wolfpack, with NC State up in Raleigh. And I just want to show some love to someone right now who showed me a lot of love on campus. This was an amazing tour.

It didn't matter if I was in Louisiana or Boston. I had a great time chatting with all the students and the faculty and the staff, but going up to NC State was something that I will remember forever. I want to give a big thank you to Katherine Spivey who helped set up and helped lead my tour and helped set everything up for me at NC State. And she worked with someone who is retiring from NC State that I just absolutely need to show love to. This is Professor Mindy Sofer.

I can't even describe. I've had one personal human interaction with her once. Okay, I was able to go and do my show and speak to the class and meet her and it was just amazing. Mindy is amazing.

This is someone who has not quit at any regard. She has fought back against cancer and after 25 years of serving the students and using her platform to help other people, not just teach them in some book or she's teaching them in life and she's done so much. She's had an impact on my life, whether or not she even knows it. She was so sweet.

You can certainly understand why the community at NC State is showing her so much love as she's just given tons, it seemingly, to every person she met. Nice enough to hang out with me as I broadcast this show. I did it right there in her classroom.

I did the JR Sport Reshow. We broadcast coast to coast and we did it right there with her. She was sweet enough, you know, when we were done to take me and drop me back off at the airport for me to get back to Atlanta and you just see every interaction she has. She is a rarity.

She is a gem as a person and as a human and as a human being. Thank you so much for all your help and Catherine and setting that up and thank you so much to Mindy Sopher as you put it all together and you had an impact on me even in that one meeting that we had. Thank you so much for what you do.

If we had more educators, if we had more people in the world just like you, we'd be in a much better place. Shout outs to everybody in Raleigh. Shout outs to everybody at NC State. Shout outs to the Wolfpack. I plan on making my way back up there much sooner than later. Thank you so much again to Catherine and Mindy, I wish you nothing but the best.

I'll be shooting you a note. And having said that, now it's time for a few things that took place this day in sports history. It is the JR Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network.

It is April 15th. The year is 2025. I need you to go back to the year 2000 because we had a legend. Not only is he an Ironman, Cal Ripken Jr. got his 3,000th hit in the Metro Dome against the Twins.

Hey, the Oles ended up winning 6-4. Cal got number 3,000 in the seventh inning. Take a listen courtesy of MLB. Man, Cal finished his career with 3,184 hits. Yeah, he just kept hitting, he just kept on playing.

That's what Cal Ripken did. And oh yeah, we talked about this earlier in the show, but if you missed it, man, you're gonna hear it again. Well, if you missed it, you didn't. You're gonna hear it for the first time. If you heard it the first time, you're gonna hear it a second time. On this day in sports history, 1947, April 15th, Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier. CNN showed him some love.

Listen to this. He made his major league debut on April 15th, 1947 with the Brooklyn Dodgers. And his long list of accomplishments would go on to include playing with six all-star teams and winning a World Series.

It's a single for the Dodgers slugging second baseman. But the whole time, he endured racism and death threats from fans, other players, even his own teammates. It just means that a colored man will be able to play on the same field with a white man for the first time.

Three years after his milestone moment, Robinson starred in a movie about his own life. Tell me, Jackie, what do you think would actually happen if you were to get out on a white baseball field? I don't know. They might call me names. They might even beat me up. I don't mean what would happen to you, Jackie. I mean, what would happen to the colored people? It might start fights.

It might even start a riot. That fight created opportunities for generations of other black baseball players. The late Hall of Famer Hank Aaron, who famously hit 755 home runs, told CNN in 1997 he wouldn't have achieved that career record if Robinson hadn't opened the door. Man, hey, and by the way, yeah, of course, those are a few things that took place this day in sports history. Now, I did not meet Jackie Robinson. I did have the pleasure of meeting Hank Aaron before he passed away.

And based on everything that I've ever read or seen about Jackie Robinson, they shared in a similar spirit, a strong and warm. And you know what? Hey, treat people good. It's really as simple as that.

Treat people good. We got more in common than anybody would ever think about. And that's why I went out and did my tour with Special Olympics.

That's why, you know, acknowledging things like Jackie Robinson and his place in history is more than important. You've been listening to the JR Sport Reshow here with you Coast to Coast on the Infinity Sports Network. I want to thank Nico Scarlatos for holding it down for us today.

I appreciate you for listening. The JR Sport Reshow right now is done. Thank you to President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino for coming through. You can find me everywhere on the Internet at JR Sport Brief. But here on the Infinity Sports Network, do not go anywhere.

Bart Winkler is coming up next. Please be well, be safe, be amazing.
