Welcome to Truth Talk Live. All right. Let's talk the truth then. I can't hide it. Hack for honey.
A daily program powered by the Truth Network. This is kind of a great thing, and I'll tell you what. Where pop culture, current events, and theology all come together. Speak your mind. And now, here's today's Truth Talk Live host.
Welcome to Truth Talk Live. This is Peter Rosenberger, 866. three four eight seventy eight eighty four eight six six 34 Truth. If you want to weigh in on today's topic, I've been watching a few things going on in the news. Wanted to ask you a few questions.
Certainly, I'm on this theme with Greenland. Everybody knows more about Greenland now than they ever have. And we're going to build Mara Idloo. It's going to have Mara Igloo in Greenland. It's going to be beautiful.
All that's going on, but I'm more interested about this thing with the church. And I was talking to Stu Epperson last night. You know, Stu, big tall fellow that plays basketball, likes to tell people about Jesus and not in that order. I told him, I said, if that happened in Montana, If those people had gotten up in the church and caused that kind of ruckus in Montana, it might have gone a little differently because Montana, I mean, they're they're every everybody's packing, and that's just the pastors. Montana has the highest number of gun owners per capita in the country, which means we have the highest gun owners per capita in the whole world.
And I thought, wow, that that was I guess in Minneapolis, you probably get away with that, but if you pull that in a place like out here, People might have thought that you were coming to do harm to people and they would have Preempted that. That's a pretty dangerous place. And I was wondering what you guys. uh thought about that. It's what would what would you do?
if that happened in your church, what would be something you would do? And uh but given the the church shootings that we've had and everything else that's been going on. I mean, people are on high alert and that is a To me, that seems like not only an illegal thing to do. I mean, I think the Department of Justice is going to get involved with that. It is a consistent response.
from people who are railing against the things of God. to go into a church like that. that was not not an issue. To just go in there and start doing that. And the kids were scared and everything else.
And that's what the world. Looks like, and the vileness of it, and the rage that was going on, and that seems very consistent with what we could expect from the world. And But at the same time, I thought... Those people are So Mentally Locked into this pattern of thought that they're going into a situation where they could have been. That that could have been much different in a place like out here.
There there's not a lot of churches out in this area where I live in Montana that would have stood for something like that. And they would have assumed that they were coming to do harm to them. And probably Acted accordingly. I don't know. Is that something you think would happen in your area?
It's interesting to watch and see the response. But the other thing I wanted to ask you, and if so, I'd like to hear what you have to say. 866-34-TRUTH, 866-348-7884. Are there any scriptures that come to your mind? When you see something like that, when you see Don Lemon and all these people.
interrupting a church there and they're just being vile about it. And they're saying that's not the Christianity I practice.
Now, this is a card-carrying. Practicing homosexual leftist, and Don Lemon said that's not the Christianity I. practice. What are your thoughts on that? I mean, that's what he said.
Those are his quotes. That's not the Christianity I practice. And this is a man who has married another man. And I'm unclear as to what kind of Christianity he practices, but I'd be curious to know what your thoughts are on that as well. But are there scriptures that come to your mind?
about what to do in a situation like that. How would you handle it? Is your church prepared for something like that? I don't think this is going to be the last one. Do you?
I can't imagine it would be consistent with the left that they're going to just, okay, all right, we went too far. And we're going to pull back. Does that sound consistent with the left that you're seeing right now? Regardless of Let's just take all the other stuff out of the issue. Do you think that they're going to stop with this?
Is this the last time? They're going to interrupt. A worship service. In your mind. I I don't see any evidence that they will, but you know.
I'm curious to see, take the temperature of the room here and see, okay, well, what are we doing here? What's going on? I mean, right now we're at a fever pitch of what's going on. Everybody's drawing sides, everybody's doing this. You know, our Are we prepared for this?
This is a place we haven't been as a country. We haven't been at a At this place in the country, since the 1800s. when the KKK was going into black churches. and doing this very thing. And that's You know But that's where we are as a country, where I don't know how to say it any better than that.
I mean, that may offend some people, but that's the way it is. Where we're going into people's houses of worship. And also, I was curious to know why they don't go into, you know, what other churches would they target or not target. You know, why this one? And I heard something like the pastor was a member of ICE or something like that.
I don't know. I haven't had any confirmation of that. But why this one? And would that Response. Had there been a bunch of uh Um MAGA folks going into a mosque.
and pull of the same stunt, what do you think would happen? And why is there, why would there be any difference? These are the kind of questions I think that are worthy of us exploring and saying. What is going on here? What what are we doing?
and where's the country going and how do you walk back from this? What does that what does that even look like? When you when you walk back from this or how do we how do we recover what we once had with decorum and respect in this country. And again, I go back to scripture. Um the first one I think I I think I'd I'd Go to Romans 12, 19 through 29.
I'd be curious to see Which ones you would go to, but Romans 12, 19 through 2 19 and 21. Beloved Never avenge yourself. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil. with good. What do you think that'd look like?
in that situation, in that church situation. Where all of a sudden, you know, you're in the middle of a worship service, Pastor. I think he was praying or getting ready to lead in prayer or something. And all of a sudden this just all hell breaks loose, literally. And um if you're the pastor, uh you know what They don't prepare you for that in seminary, do they?
That's not something, hey, today we're going to cover in our lesson today. They're not, you know, that's a. Much different w we're we're in uncharted territory. For our country.
Now, that is not uncharted territory for many places in the world.
Now you think about so many of so many of our brothers and sisters in other countries, think about what's going on in Nigeria where they go in there and they just butcher people. All because they're Christians. And this has been happening. for you know a long, long time in various parts of the world, but it's not happening in America. But it is now.
And are we prepared to deal with it? Can we overcome evil with good? And what does that look like? That's what Scripture tells us to do. There's a couple of other scriptures.
Hebrews 12, 28. one that may be appropriate.
Well, I think it is appropriate. Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken. At church May have been shaken. that building, that church. But the kingdom That those people are part of cannot be.
Does that not Steady us a little bit to know that. Oh hell! Against us, they will not prevail. Hell will assault us, but it won't prevail. Does that give you strength and comfort?
Does that steady you? Is there a scripture that comes to your mind? As you think about these things, 866. 34 Truth, 866-348. 7884.
This is Peter Rosenberger. This is Truth Talk Live. We will be right back. You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. Welcome back to Truth Talk Live.
This is Peter Rosenberg. Glad to be with you today, 866-34-TRUTH, 866-348. seventy eight eighty four we're talking about What happened Sunday at the worship service? in Minneapolis. Uh what do you think his church is gonna be like this Sunday?
for those folks. You think they'll show up? Would you? Would you return to s to services? This Sunday.
What do you think it's going to be like? Would you bring your kids? I don't think they're going to go back to that church. They might. But that isn't I I I don't see anything that's consistent with them stopping.
This. And whatever issue you fall on, on immigration, whatever. What what is your thought about the response? that the protesters had on a Sunday morning service. And do you think it was effective to their cause?
Do you think they have turned? public opinion to support them or they've turned people away. It was a bold move. It was a risky move. Not so sure that it's going to have the payoff that they want it to have but And again, you're doing it in a place where the citizenry is a lot different.
If they pull that kind of stuff For example, out here in Montana, where I live. people may are may be so jacked up and ready and on high alert that this thing could go bad. really quick. I talked about this last week with we had the sheriff and his deputies were hung. Hanged.
I always thought it should be hung, but they're hanged. And the townspeople rose up and did this. This is in relation to some stories when people get pushed enough and get on high alert, even if they're wrong. it can get out of control pretty quickly. And that's the danger of this.
Mike and Dayton wants to weigh in on this. Mike, go ahead. Welcome to the program. Can you hear me? I can hear you.
Hello. Loud and clear. You can hear me. All right. Thank you.
Yeah, it's kind of. It's just crazy that we're talking about this because about two weeks ago I started. Um I volunteered for the the uh church uh security team. And uh And I last last uh last Yesterday, you know, Stu was talking about it.
Now, today you're talking about it. And I've been pondering.
Okay, what do I do in that situation? And um man, um that's a hard one. You know what I mean? Hopefully, I'm being led by God when I do that. You know, that's one thing.
I've been praying about it. I said, God, I know. you want me to ha prepare myself for for an incident if i it ever happens you know Um we have good uh Good people in our church are on the security team. We can have ex-policemen, retired policemen. We got all these different excellent men in our church that will help in that area.
But I just felt led that I should help again help more. And they needed people. I mean, there's a lot of doors in the church, you know what I mean? And uh all the doors need to be covered and And people need to be on their toes, especially the way it is right now. You know, it just.
It's a little bit scary, but I don't think we're scared. But, you know, we're being prepared. You know what I mean? What's the scripture that comes to your mind? I've been I know you're going to ask me that, and that's the way you like to do things.
And I couldn't think of one right this second. But uh You know, I don't know what comes to my mind on this kind of scripture. That's why I'm seeking God for this, because I want. I want counseling on this. I want to be able to make the right decision at the right time.
Well, I didn't think, here's the difference, Mike, and this may be something your security team will talk about. I don't know, and you can get back to us. Here's the difference. These people did not come. in an assault on the church and pull out a gun and start shooting.
They just had a co-opted effort to stand up and start disrupting.
Now and I understand that, and that's a different strategy. The risk is, if you do have a security team that's on high alert and these people start creating a ruckus, this is liable to get out of hand very quickly. It could, yeah. And I even seen on new on the news that The other people that carry a gun all the time, uh they they said this might not have w Been that that peaceful if they were there. You know what I mean?
And I I hear people saying that thing. And and I'm like, oh, you know, like I said, I hope I'm led by the Spirit to tell me what to do and how to do it, and our security team be smart enough to know what to do. I I'm sure that I I have faith in the people that that are gonna train me to help me to do this, but I I I I'm serious, uh Peter. This this is crazy that I volunteered for the you know the security team and then we're talking about this. This is this is um Well, I mean, look, with the church shootings going on.
This is not a small issue. And I don't know if you knew this, you may have heard me say this, but that church shooting that went on at Covenant School in Nashville. Right. We went there for years. My son was married there.
One of our sons was married there. I used to play every Sunday morning there. And I watched a SWAT team go. We were in Montana when it all happened. We moved out here from Nashville, but I watched a SWAT team rush past where we used to go to Sunday school.
This is not. Uh, we're in a world, a different world now, and these people were taking literally taking their lives in their hands and the lives of others. Had they gone into a situation where there's a security team on high alert and they started staying up and doing that kind of thing, and this could get out of control. And I kind of laugh about it a little bit, but not in a disrespectful way. But here in Montana, you know, our pastors are more armed than most people.
You know, I mean, this is just Montana, that's just the way it is. I mean, you know, we're not unarmed in Montana. And so, when you have a situation like that where there are people who are legally allowed to carry weapons. and they're on high alert and you go in there and start acting the fool, Bad things can really happen quickly. Right.
And and you know and But here's a scripture for you. Here's a scripture for you, Mike, and see if this will resonate with you. In Luke. 21, 12 through 15. But before all this, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, and delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors for my name's sake.
This will be your opportunity to bear witness. Settle it, therefore, in your minds, not to Meditate beforehand how to answer, for I'll give you a mouth and wisdom which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict. And what that communicates to me is: look, Jesus is saying very clearly, you're going to get. stuff happening to you. It's going to be bad.
Don't worry about it because you're going to be so in me that you're ready to respond quickly. With the power of the Holy Spirit, and they're not going to be able to withstand it. They may rage against you, but it says, none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict. And that gives me great hope that if we are found in Christ. If but the Here, finish this scripture for me, Mike.
Thy word have I hid In my heart, yep. That I'm I don't I'm sorry. I need to tell the call screener to put Mike on probation because he doesn't know that scripture and he's gonna have to go to the penalty box. Thy word if I hid in my heart, that I may not sin against thee. The more we are consumed with the word of God.
The less we have to worry about all this. Martin Luther said it great in a mighty fortress is our God. The body they may kill. God's truth abideth. Still.
Yeah. That's kind of worth it. Yes, it is. And the word is, you're right. It's our foundation.
is our is our is our it's our heart it should it resonate in our heart It should what should come out of our life. You know what I mean? We should spring up like a well and say, this is what's in our heart, in our life. But we can't do that unless we do what? And spend time in the Word.
Yes, I know. And yes, I know.
So now I need to take a informal poll. Does everybody think I should let Mike off probation now? Is it is well? Mike. Can I say on with you, Peter?
You can move it. We've got to go to a break, so stay by. I've got other callers coming in. This is Truth Talk Live. This is Peter Rosenberger.
We'll be right back. You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. Welcome back to Truth Talk Live. This is Peter Rosenberger. Glad to be with you today, 866-34-TRUTH, 866-252.
348-7884. Talking about what happened in the Minneapolis shooting, building on what Stu talked about yesterday, I'm just asking: is your church prepared for this? What are your thoughts on this? What scripture comes to your mind, or a hymn of how to handle this? Do you think this will be the last time that this happens?
Is this in a new era for us as Americans? All those kinds of questions are fair game because this is the conversation I think that is worthy of us having is asking these kind of questions. Tom in Dayton, Ohio. Tom, you want to weigh in on that? I have two one verse which would be really helpful is Second Corinthians 10.
four through five. Which was the uh For weapons of our let's see, for for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God, for pulling down the strongholds. Yeah, you know what I'm saying? Praise make a prayer out for that tonight, just for us to let us know, you know, trusting God and let Him deal with this because He's the one that's going to do it. But, you know, physically, as a person, I think we should get more people out there voting.
I'm not saying how to vote, but just go out there and vote because we had a very low. Christian low uh out uh what do you call that turnout. And you would have thought under uh Charlie Kirk's assassination, you would have seen more. But I think you're absolutely right. I think it troubles me.
And I know people who are committed Christians who say they just don't vote. And I'm like You have this amazing freedom that people in other countries would truly give all they could to be able to have a say-so in what's happening in their culture, in their country. And we're squandering it? Is that is that good stewardship for Christians? I used to be that way until I listened to a man that said, you know, you got to make a decision in your life to make a difference, you know, and we can't let them just run us down like what they were doing.
You know, they're You know, I just think it's just What our last election was just you know, previous the previous one in the twenty twenty. But that's my opinion. I didn't like that. The way We were treated as Christians. And I think our Christians need to stand up and be out there and vote.
From the beginning doing this program, when Stu asked me to come on this program and do it, I've often said the same thing: Are we being salt and light? In what we do as Christians, because that's what we're called to do. We're called to be the salt and light. We're called to go into the world. We're not of the world, but we're called to go into it.
Are we. in any way penetrating in that darkness with the light of Christ, And being an influence that is staving, like what salt does, it staves away the rot. Are we doing that? Or are we just kind of sequestering ourselves and living our life? We got our salvation, you go get yours.
Kind of thing. That's what I want to push back against because Jesus said, you go into this. Just like he came into this, he came into the rot of this world. And he said that and and He did. But he also, but he showed up.
He showed up. Exactly. And aren't we grateful that he did? And I think, going back to what you brought in the scripture, if the more we understand. the scriptures.
The more we understand What the Word of God is telling us, we'll be ready at a moment's notice to give a defense, as Peter says. And that's, Tom, that's a great scripture.
So far, you got the prize today. Nick, tell them what they win. No, I'm just kidding. You got the prize. But listen, we're going to run to Rachel in Ohio, and she wants to give a verse as well.
So, Tom, thank you so much for that, okay? I appreciate it. Thank you. Rachel In Ohio. Rachel, good afternoon, and tell us the verse that you have on your mind.
Um I have first In Psalms 144.1, I actually have it on the hammer of my AR. And then the Lord is my home. I'm sorry. I was taking a sip of coffee and you said that. I have it on the hammer of my AR.
That just struck me up a little bit. You got to prepare me before you say things like that, Rachel. But thank you. Go right ahead. I got you.
I got you. You got to customize your guns, right? I got to clean up the coffee I just spewed.
So sorry. Thank you for that, Rachel.
So, Psalms 144.1. God is my rock. He trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle. Um we He prepares us if it's a righteous battle and something that we're supposed to stand for, we are allowed to fight. And he trains us for it and prepares us for it.
He does, and he prepares us. And I think the biggest preparation we have, if we would spend as much time. Preparing ourselves spiritually as we do. With rifles and guns and Security measures and all that kind of thing, but really preparing ourselves with the Word of God. What a difference that would make in our society.
What do you think? I absolutely agree. I Honestly, when I got really close to God, I almost got rid of all my guns because I feel like He does want peace over. battle.
Sometimes that is not an option though. Um so he does train us for battle. But I fully believe that, you know God can do anything, and if someone has a gun and they're in front of you, and you raise your hands, and you can pray and say, You know, God, speak to this person, go in their heart, make them stop doing this. And I fully believe that that can work too. But I know sometimes.
it's not going to.
So I do think a spiritual Awakening and being closer to God is definitely more important because you don't have to have any weapon if God's on your side and He doesn't want there to be a battle, He will protect you and keep you completely. there's miracles all over. There's people that have been shot and they live. They're completely fine because God wants them to be.
So he can be a shield and he's also training us for battle for when it is needed and wanted by him.
Well, I think learning to defend ourselves It's like putting on a seat belt. You know, you don't put on a seatbelt the day you know you're going to have a car wreck. You put on a seatbelt every time you get in the car. And it doesn't make much sense to do it post car wreck. And I trained with martial arts for years and ended up getting a black belt and a little higher.
It was not because we wanted to go out and fight. But it was one we wanted to be vigilant and be prepared at a moment's notice to defend ourselves. And I love the concept that we had. And I have a wife with severe disabilities. It's not like we can flee very easily.
So, you're going to have to be able to protect yourself and be aware. How much more so? If we are preparing our minds, let this mind be in you, which is also in Christ Jesus. Therefore, do not be conformed to this mind, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. How much training are we giving to our minds?
That's one of the things I love about Stu. And he and I talked about this topic yesterday, last evening, when he called me. If you talk to Stu Epperson for more than 30 seconds, you're going to hear about the Lord. Period. Yeah.
It should be. And you're going to hear scriptures, and it just flows out of him. My question is: can we, as You know, as a People of God, are we in that lane? where we are just consumed with the Word of God. I am stunned by how many Bibles we have and how.
how strong of biblical illiteracy that we have. I agree. For example, I had somebody that's an individual basis. That's definitely an individual basis. There are people that.
Wake up and God is their best friend. He's beside them and they thank Him every day and they pray for everything. And every beautiful moment in the sky, they're grateful and thankful. And then there's other people that are just starting their journey. people in all different aspects of life, but Uh But He's ready for anyone at any point.
The biggest mess, the biggest. Druggie can come to him, the most spiritual person that loves him.
Well, I I think uh Fanny Crosby said it best of that hymn The vilest offender who truly believes That moment from Jesus a pardon receives. Amen. What a great line that is. And you're right, Rachel. I've had someone ask me before, how can the worst person ever just ask for God for forgiveness and He grants it?
That's messed up. And you can obviously tell they're not close to the Lord because there has to be a trueness in the soul of the forgiveness.
Someone can't just say the words and say, Oh, God forgive me, and He's forgiven. You have to live the life you have to be trying. And even if you're still not doing everything right, when God sees your intentions and feels your heart and He knows it's good and He knows that you're sorry and you are ready to start your journey with Him to be closer, better, closer to Him, you know, and everything. You can ask for forgiveness and it will be granted. But if you're not serious and you don't have good intentions, God knows.
He knows everything. He knows the hairs on our head. He knows. everything.
So you can't just forgiveness. It has to be true.
Well, the good news is he doesn't count on knowing our hearts, he counts on knowing his. And he gives us a new heart. We have a heart of stone, and he gives us a heart of flesh because the heart of man is exceedingly wicked, Jeremiah says. And Jesus knew people's hearts. He would even trust himself to people's hearts.
But we trust God's heart. And what he's doing. I do not like it when pastors say, listen to your heart. And I'm like, no. No, listen to his heart.
Listen, don't listen to your heart. Your heart got you in this mess. Especially for women. But listen to his heart. It's not, listen, women, men, it's the human condition.
We are all messed up people.
Somebody said, well, I'm not, I thank thee, Lord, that I'm not like that guy. Yes, you are. We're all born lying, thieving, murderers, adulterers, homosexuals. We're all born all of these things. We're guilty of the entire thing because our standard is Christ, not one another.
I'm not comparing myself to you or anybody else. It's Christ. That's right. I stand before Him. And I try to say, Well, Lord, I'm not as bad as that guy.
How do you how long do you think it's going? What is his responsibility? That's a sin all on its own. That's a sin in itself, right there. All we can do is do like Paul that says, I have been crucified with Christ.
I no longer live. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God. And we realize that our life is, as we understood it, is over, and we belong to Christ. Period. In the discussion, and he is sovereign over this.
And whatever, like you said, wherever we're going to go, he's already there waiting for us. The question is, are we going to be prepared to lift up the name of Christ? No matter what. Are we? I mean, I am, but I can't tell you about my neighbor, but I know me.
Oof. I talk about my best friend all day long. That's beautiful to hear, Rachel. And I'm very grateful that you took the time to call on that because that is but you got me on that one. It's on the hammer of my AR.
What was the song that you quoted? What is the song that you quoted for that? One one forty four one. One forty one for one. Listen, I will.
For the rest of my life, I will never forget that, Rachel.
Okay, so thank you so much. Do you want to hear about the rest of my collection? Oh, no.
Well, maybe some other time. I'm trying to quit right now. Hey, listen, we got to go to a break. This is Peter Roseberry with Truth Talk Life. We'll be right back.
Thank you, Rachel. You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. Welcome back to Truth Talk Live. This is Peter Rosenberger, 866-34 Truth, 866-348-7884. We're talking about Things that were going on in Minneapolis at the church.
I did have a caller call in and uh Wanted to remain anonymous, but they did want to pass on along a message that is a family member of the pastor there. and that he is not a part of ice, but is um But it is someone on the pastor's staff, and she's trying to stop the false news. you know that That's neither here nor there as far as whether or not he was part of ICE and these people were justified to do what they did, which they were not. And I appreciate the cleaning that up. The pastor is not.
And I watched the pastor, and you know, there's. That is a tough spot for that guy to be in. And But we need to be prepared. I it is I don't see any evidence. that This will stop.
I I don't because th there's a brazenness to it. Um For some time I've noticed that there is a there is a freedom. From the left in this country, from people who do not call themselves the people of God, to Attack. Christians.
Now I notice they don't attack Muslims. I notice they don't attack Hindu. But they'll go after uh Christians. And they'll go after them with reckless abettors, stand-up comedians, late-night shows, talk shows. sitcoms, doesn't matter.
And you can go through and always figure out who they're going to try to make, the bad guy or the hypocrite or whatever. And we need to be prepared for that. And we need to be ready for that.
Now we're not going to necessarily fix it. But that's something to to keep in mind. There's a hymn that I love, and you guys know I love the hymns. And it's how firm a foundation. Great hum.
But there's a the last line and it this This keeps coming back to me. The soul that on Jesus, by the way, the phone number is 866-34-TRUTH-866-348-7884. The soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose. That's not heroic language. There's no clenched fist in that sentence.
Okay? There's no rally cry, there's no defice, just a soul that has learned. And to lean on is to admit weight, to acknowledge fatigue, to stop. pretending That you're self-sufficient, you're self-supporting. And then comes the promise, not from the soul, but from God Himself.
I will not, I will not desert to His foes. And notice what he doesn't say. He doesn't say there won't be any foes. There will be. It doesn't say the soul won't be shaken.
In fact, he goes out of his way. to acknowledge the worst, though all hell should endeav I said my Southern accent came by no all hail, but it's all hell should endeavour to shake. That's full opposition. That's maximum pressure. That's when worship is disrupted, when faith is mocked, when the world barges in and tells the church to move aside.
Though all hell should endeavour to shake, And still, God's answer is not escalation, it's assurance. I'll never. No, never. No, never forsake. You ever sung that hymn?
You ever sung it full-throated in a congregation where it is just erupting from the congregation? I've had that opportunity. And it is many times and I I never get tired of that hymn. That's one of those hymns you can just plant your flag with that hymn. It doesn't tell us to fight harder, it tells us where to put our weight, where to stand.
When the when the ground seems to fall out from underneath you, where do you stand? And Peter learned this when he got out of the boat. It doesn't matter what you're standing on, as long as you're looking at Christ. You can stand on the water. Gracie said that.
My wife said that one time when she was speaking somewhere, and she has two prosthetic legs. She said, It doesn't matter what I'm standing on, as long as my eyes are firmly fixed on Christ. the author and perfecter of our salvation, of our faith. And and that I'll never, no, never, no, never. That that is not just poetry.
That's pastoral care. God is saying I You know, I know how quickly fear talks. Let me answer before it finishes the sentence. This is what you start in Scripture. The whole way of scripture, you just see assurance, assurance, assurance of who God is, of his character, of his immutable character.
That's not going to change. That's why we sing in that great hymn, Great is Thy Faithfulness. Thou changest not, thy compassions, they fail not. That comes from lamentations. The hymn tells us where to put our weight.
on Christ. The foundation of the church has never been its strength, its buildings, or its its composure under pressure, or the the nice arch uh of the of the sanctuary or anything like that. It has always been that God does not abandon his people. Not when they're calm, not when they're shaken, not even when all hell tries. And that, to me, is the place for us to kind of land as we look at these things happen.
What does repose mean? That soul that on Jesus doth lean for repose. It means to rest, but not sleep. And I've said this on my Caregiver show many times, rest and sleep are two different things. I don't have a problem going to sleep.
You know, I've been tired since 1986. That's how long I've been a caregiver. One day I'm going to write a book called Exhausted. Why do you ask? Because people ask me, how are you doing?
I'm exhausted. But rest is something different. Rest says I don't have to fix this. I don't have to do this. This is not mine to fix.
My wife has a Saviour. I'm not that Saviour. When you've had ninety eight surgeries like she has, This is beyond anything I could pro Do. She has a Saviour. I'm not that Saviour.
I can rest in knowing that he is who he says he is. It's settled. relief from strain, the kind of rest that comes when something is Stronger is carrying the load. Jesus said, Take my yoke on me. He's bearing the brunt of it.
Not collapse, not escape, but trustful. Stillness.
So my question to you is. Are you one of those souls that doth lean on Jesus. for repose. Are you resting in him? We don't have to be afraid.
though all hell should endeavour to shake, It's coming. I'm just preparing you. Mm. Difficult things are coming to this country in ways that we probably don't expect. We can talk about the golden age all we want.
We're not there. And I want to make sure that we're not distracted by a golden calf. but that we are anchored firmly in God's Word. My anchor holds within the veil You know what hymn that's from? On Christ the solid rock I stand.
My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus' blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame, But wholly lean on Jesus' name.
Now, what Scripture comes to mind when you say that? The name of the Lord is a strong tower. They that run into it are safe. These are not things that I've learned in the abstract. These are things that I've learned.
while watching my wife suffer in the ICU. for four decades. And you have to You you you arrive at a place. When you go through the kind of things that we've gone through, I would love to tell you that I'm wise, but anybody that knows me knows that I'm not. I'd love to tell you that I'm learned.
Anybody that knows me knows that I'm not. I've just been watching someone suffer for so long, and I've had to ask myself, I've had to look in the mirror, and also look through the window there at the I C U and say, Christian, what do you believe? I've said this to myself. I told you this on the show a couple weeks ago when Johnny Erickson Tata called me up and she said, How are you getting through this? And I.
Recalled when our pastor would say, at that church where that shooting was in Nashville, I can remember him. I was talking to the pastor, he used to say it to me. He's not there anyway, he's moved to Mississippi. But I was talking to him, and I said, You remember when you would stand up? And before we said the Apostles' Creed, you would look at the congregation and say, Christian, what do you believe?
And so I'm looking through the glass at the I C U at Gracie. after surgery number ninety eight. And I'm saying to myself, Christian, what do you believe? I'm looking at what's happening in Minneapolis, and I'm saying, Christian, what do you believe? And I'm talking to you right now, listening to this station, and I'm saying to you, Christian, what do you believe?
And these are the things that we need to prepare ourselves for. To examine ourselves so that when we have these moments, we're not fumbling around. We're prepared at a moment's notice to say what we believe. Martin Luther said it, the body they may kill. God's truth abideth still.
Paul said it. For me to live is Christ, to die is gained. This is not even worthy to be compared. to what awaits us. And so I ask a very simple question.
Do you believe this? Do you believe this? And if so, What would that look like? to you and to those around you. How would they know?
What would it look like?
Something to think about as we watch More and more events unfold. Let's Let's be Let's be vigilant. Let's be prepared. Let's bury ourselves in Christ. just inundate ourselves with the word of God.
I've been around a lot of people, and I've got just about a minute here. I want to tell you this. I've been around a lot of people. in their late years in life. who are dealing with Alzheimer's and dementia of all kinds.
and so forth. I watched this with my own father as Parkinson's robbed that brilliant mind of his. towards the last part of his his life. But I've been in nursing homes where people would look out at the window just and just staring vacant. but then I would play a hymn and they would start singing it.
Or the Lord's Prayer, and they would start saying it. I would say a scripture, and they would finish it. I watched this with my father. That is the only thing that endures is the Word of God. There is nothing else, no medication, nothing else, only the Word of God.
And that is. Truth. Talk. Live. This is Peter Rosenberger.
You can go out to my website. If you're a caregiver, there's a caregiver 911 for you right there. Take advantage of it, PeterRosenberger.com. We'll see you next time. Gracie, when you envisioned doing a prosthetic limb outreach, did you ever think?
The inmates would help you do that. Not in a million years. What does it mean? I would have ever thought about that. When you go to the facility run by Core Civic and you see the faces of these inmates that are working on prosthetic limbs that you have helped collect from all over the country that you put out the plea for.
And they're disassembling. You see all these legs, like what you have, your own prosthetic legs. And arms, too. And arms. When you see all this, what does that do to you?
Makes me cry. Because I see the smiles on their faces and I know. I know what it is to be locked someplace where you can't get out without somebody else allowing you to get out. Of course, being in the hospital so much and so long. When I go in there, then I always get the same thing every time.
These men are so glad that they get to be doing, as one man said, something good finally with my hands. Did you know before you became an amputee that? Parts of prosthetic limbs could be recycled? No, I had no idea. I thought we were still in the.
1800s and 1700s. I mean, you know, I thought of peg leg, I thought of wooden legs. I never thought of. Titanium and carbon legs and flex feet and C legs and all that. I never thought about that.
I had no idea.
Now that you've had an experience with it, what do you think of the faith-based programs that Core Civic offers? I think they're just absolutely... Awesome. And I think every Prison out there should have faith-based programs like this because. return rate.
Of the men that are involved in this particular faith-based program. and the other ones like it, but I know about this one. Is just an amazingly low rate compared to those who don't have them. And I think that that says so much. That test so much.
about Because that doesn't have anything to do with me. It just has something to do with God using somebody broken. to help other broken people be whole. If people want to donate a used prosthetic limb, whether from a loved one who passed away, Yeah. You know, somebody who outgrew them, you've donated some of your own.
What's the best place for them to do? How do they do that? What do they find? Please go to standingwithhope.com/slash recycle, and that's all it takes. It'll give you all the information on the what's that website again?
StanningwithHope.com/slash. Slash recycle. Thanks, Cracie. Take My hair. Lean on me.
We will stay.
