I know it can be a shock to the system, trust me. I've been going through it myself, but it is our hump show already. Third show of the work week for us here on After Hours. We're glad you're with us.

Good morning to you on what is a Wednesday hump day. You got this. I believe in you.

I'm here to tell you it can be done. Even if you do feel like you got hit by a Mack truck, that would be me. Raise your hand. That's me. Good morning to you. It's After Hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS Sports Radio. And I suppose for those of you who stayed up for all of the football on Monday night, Tuesday felt even more challenging.

Felt more like Mount Everest than say Mount Washington. But it'll get easier as we get closer to the weekend. I know that is the case. So you can find me on Twitter, ALawRadio, also on our Facebook page After Hours with Amy Lawrence. Just as a side note, if you did not hear your question posed on the radio here on After Hours, I do go back and answer as many of your Ask Amy questions as I can get to without writing you a novella. So if I can get to it in a few words on either Twitter or Facebook, I will do that on Wednesday.

It's a commitment to you so that you know I'm listening. You know that I appreciate your interest in my life and also some of my sports opinions. We don't generally do sports questions on Ask Amy. I feel like you get enough of my sports opinions and my perspective. And so Ask Amy, we usually tend to to slant more toward food.

Food seems to be a pretty common theme of Ask Amy. Now, one more note too. I've mentioned this multiple times.

I will say this again during this hour more than once as a spoiler alert. Whether you care or you don't care, I'm just letting you know that finally we'll be sharing the wedding stories from wedding weekend. I've been going back now three weekends. I've been waiting for producer Jay to resume working. He just took some time off because he deserves some time off. And I don't know, weirdly enough, he's also taken off the same two weeks that I'll be taking off for my honeymoon. Do you think we should like play a prank on Bob and just like on April Fool's Day just say to him, hey, in fact, I could record it without his knowledge so that you can hear it back.

Hey, babe, just want to let you know that producer Jay has never been to Hawaii either and he's kind of nervous about going himself and he's not going to bother us, but hope you don't mind that he's going to be there the same two weeks we are. He's only going to join us for one meal a day. Don't worry, he won't be around the whole time.

You'll barely notice him. And because we got a rate at the hotel, he's also going to be in an adjoining room. You might ask for an annulment. Actually, by that time it would be too late. We'd have to go straight divorce. No, no, no, we're not getting divorced. Not over you anyway. No, we're not getting divorced. I would stay out of the way.

I mean, he brought a new dog into the relationship. You can bring a new human, why not? Do you think we can pull that off? I don't know if I can do it with a straight face. I'm going to have to figure, maybe on the phone. Oh my gosh, maybe you could be on the phone, like accidentally conference you in.

Hey, got a sec? Hey, we wanted to tell you some like really cool idea we had. We're going to love it. And since the trip is only a month away, we really can't go back now. Surprise. Or even more so, I was like, hey, I asked producer J what he wanted for Christmas, and he actually said he wanted to go to Hawaii. So I thought, all right, let's help him make that dream come true.

You're too kind. Oh, no. We're speaking this into existence right now.

No, we are not speaking this into existence. Okay, I'm not telling you where we're going. He would kill me. But it would be fun to play a prank on him and pretend like we actually worked it out. We got a deal.

So we just thought he'll pay us back for the rate that he got. Anyway, the story of the wedding weekend, many of you have asked, I've been saving it because Jay is back. I didn't want him to miss it.

There are highlights and there are lowlights. Let me just tell you, I know not everybody cares about my wedding. It's fine. I don't need you to. I'm good. You know, I care. So that's fine.

We've had so many questions over the last six months prior to the wedding, and now post wedding, people want to know the story. I appreciate that many of you are sharing my joy and excitement. So for that reason, this is either your preview, not preview. What's the word? Promo?

No, this is your what would you call it? Your tease. It's your tease. Tomorrow's show. Well, it actually will start on Wednesday night.

Wednesday night in a Thursday morning, probably half of it, not the whole thing, but probably half of it will be dedicated to stories from the wedding. So if you do not give a crap, I would advise you to find some other show to listen to. I'm just, I'm letting you know now. It's fair warning, right?

I'm doing my due diligence and either teasing it so that, you know, it's coming or warning you so that, you know, you can get the heck out of Dodge. Just, you know, listen to a podcast, a podcast. A million of them.

That's right. There's only 8,392,000 podcasts out there. I'm sure another one will suffice if you don't care about my wedding.

Book on tape. How about some country music? Sirius XM's got, I don't know, 497 channels. Try something there. If you don't care about the wedding, join us again on Thursday evening. We'll still be here. We'll still be here.

It's After Hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS Sports Radio. Yeah, obviously there's plenty going on in football and we're excited to talk about that too through the course of the week to get you set for what's to come on not just Saturday but Sunday and Monday. Though you know what happens on Monday. In between the end of week 18 and the playoff picture finally morphing into a bracket, right?

So right now it's kind of cloudy and gray but it'll be black and white. It'll be a bracket come Sunday night into Monday morning. But do you know what happens between the end of week 18 and the college football national championship kicking off? It's called Black Monday. Now not every coach gets fired on Monday. In fact, we've already had a couple get fired prior to Black Monday in the end of the regular season. But we expect there will be some other pink slips handed out on Black Monday.

And actually sometimes it starts on Sunday night and continues into Black Monday. Which of the possible potential coaches available would you like to coach your team? And here are some of the examples we've come up with. We don't know that the Patriots are parting ways with Bill Belichick. We don't know that to be true. In fact, he signed a contract extension nearly a year ago.

So it may not be true at all. If it is, he's not giving any indication. So he does a weekly appearance on the Greg Hill show on our Boston affiliate.

Actually our New England affiliate, WEEI. And he was asked whether or not he would be moving on or whether or not he considered changes. Let's say Bob Kraft asks him to add a GM.

Would that be something he's keen to? I appreciate the question. Again, right now looking at the Jets, trying to get ready to go on them. It's been a long time since we've played them here.

Whatever, 14, 15 games ago. So really going to focus on that. That's what we're doing this week. Okay, okay. We get it, Bill. You're focused on the Jets. You've got one game left this season.

But what about a possible divorce of sorts with the Patriots? You know, if I was going to do anything, I'd put it out there on Twitter and My Face so everybody could see it. But I don't do that. Then I'll just keep it private. Did he call it My Face still? I think it used to be My Face was kind of his joke, a combo between Facebook and MySpace. Did you ever have a MySpace page? I did. Did you? Oh yeah.

I never had a MySpace page. I had Top 8 and everything. A what?

Top 8 Friends. Oh. Yeah.

Is that a thing? It was on MySpace, yeah. Is MySpace still alive or is it dead? Well, no. I don't even know if I would. It might still be there. I don't know anyone who has one.

I wouldn't go to the domain. What did you do with yours? It's out there probably I guess somewhere. I never deleted it.

Okay, let's see. Let's go to MySpace and see if it's still a viable website. I wouldn't know how to log in though. Was it MySpace.com?

Yeah. MySpace.com. MySpace.com.

Huh. My page was pretty cool. They could like put like songs in there and like images and animations. I mean right now it's appears to be a lot of music headlines. The best in music and culture all in one place. That's MySpace.

Yeah, it's MySpace.com but it looks like it's almost entirely music stuff. Oh yeah, I see. Fly Anakin. Is that a Star Wars reference?

Carves his own lane on Frank. Most of the language and the headlines I just can't interpret. I have no idea what they mean. Dolly Parton respectfully bows out of the Rock Hall nomination. Alright. Well anyway, I don't know if this is the social media page but it appears to be something a little different in 2024.

Why did she bow out of the nomination? Welcome to MySpace. Just starts typing to find music. Was it music themed back when you were on it? No, it was just kind of, it was like the first social media site. Right, one of the first.

One of the first, yeah. So anyway, Bill Belichick references Twitter or MySpace. Wait, MyFace. MyFace. You know if I was going to do anything I'd put it out there on Twitter and MyFace so everybody could see it but I don't. You're saving it for the social. If I don't do that then I'll just keep it private.

It's like if I'm not going to put it on Twitter or MyFace I'll just keep it private if you don't mind. See he does have a good sense of humor. I mean we've had some fine Bill Belichick moments. Like when he made his, well I think at the time it was his girlfriend's dog Nike, sit in the chair.

Remember the 2020 draft where it was all virtual and Nike was making the calls, making the picks for the Patriots. That was fun. He's got a good sense of humor.

He was a member of Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift and that whole thing started in response to that. Yeah, I mean he doesn't want you to know he's a funny guy but every now and then you'll get it. He's very insightful. I've actually been part of Bill Belichick press conferences where someone asks him a question about football. And the man, once he starts talking about X's and O's in football, you're blown away.

If you even get one or two nuggets out of what he says, but it's so apparent that his mind works in a way that the majority of humans does not. At least not about football. It's fascinating to learn football from Bill Belichick, even a little bit. Going back to my days when I worked in local Providence radio, as I say I would go to press conferences for Patriots and I would cover some of the games. And if you can get him to open up about the actual football, the nuts and bolts, the skeleton of football if you will, he's incredible to learn from. There's actually a tremendous, I guess series maybe or just show you'd call it. It was on HBO called The Art of Coaching.

It was Bill Belichick and Nick Saban. Just the two of them sitting down in a chair talking football. It's tremendous. I don't have HBO but I would love to watch that.

You can borrow mine and use it. It's always Jay's answer. Yeah, that's amazing. Yeah, to learn football from those two minds, it's clear that they've already forgotten more than we'll ever know. But yeah, he's awesome when it's about actual football. You know what else?

Did the NFL network do the top 100 players of all time at like various positions maybe? And he was one of the analysts for some of the quarterbacks going back to decades past. Also really interesting stuff. He knows so much. He's studied so much. He's an expert obviously and as I say just to learn even a little bit from guys like him and Nick Saban.

It's really a leg up. It's After Hours with Amy Lawrence here on CBS Sports Radio. So courtesy of the Greg Hill Show on our Boston affiliate WEEI. No news.

There's no news right now. But could Belichick be available? If he is, I can't imagine that there wouldn't be teams lining up, teams that need candidates.

So here's a thought that just dawned on me. What if there are teams out there who are waiting to find out if Belichick is available before they make a change at their own head coaching position? I could see that happening. For a guy as good as him, if he's available, maybe then you make the leap. But if you think that you can convince him to come coach for you, you take that risk. He's worth taking the risk for. I would say, not specifically at the moment, but I would say if there are teams who like their current head coach but if Bill Belichick became available. And if they thought they could convince him. Because you don't want to burn the bridge with your own head coach if you think you have no shot at Belichick. But if you do, and you think you can lure him there and you have something to offer him, not just autonomy, money, I think, but gosh, he's got plenty.

Money's probably not going to be the determining factor. But what if you can offer him the opportunity to essentially paint on a blank canvas? So could that be the situation in Washington?

It's an ownership group that's extremely aggressive. We know it's Josh Harris who's had success, well, some success, a modicum of success with the New Jersey Devils and the Philadelphia 76ers. But could they offer him, hey, an opportunity to start fresh? We'll do whatever you want to do.

We'll give you the resources to build what you want to build here in the nation's capital. You want to take a quarterback? Take him.

He's your pick. Right. Interesting. Maybe do an option over if he wants to go to, say, a Chargers situation and has Justin Herbert in place, a young quarterback who you can mold is already there. It's a different scenario, but it's another enticing idea maybe.

Yeah. Also consider the division. Not that he would be intimidated by what else is in the division, right, because the Patriots dominated the AFC East for so long. But if you take a job in the West, that's got to be a consideration that Patrick Mahomes is going to be there for a long time. Not going anywhere.

Right. And so you're going to have to compete against him the way that other coaches who went into the AFC East were going to have to compete against Belichick and Brady. So Belichick is an option, but we don't yet know if he will be available. So I can imagine, as Jay and I were saying, that there are teams out there waiting. They may not make a move unless they think they could get a Bill Belichick. And then it's one of those, hey, this is our go for broke moment. If you can lure him, if you think you can, well, then you absolutely fire your own coach or move on from your coach.

Part ways is the popular phrase. What about a Frank Reich, who we know is already available? How about a Mike Drable, who came from Belichick system, right, with New England Patriots ties? Dan Quinn, who's likely to go through the cycle again. Last year chose to stay with Dallas, and he said largely because he couldn't have imagined someone else coaching that defense and him watching from afar. And so instead he chose to stay with the Cowboys. Ron Rivera, he's now a veteran of two head coaching situations. Arthur Smith, I mean, it's a shorter tenure with Atlanta, and I don't know they're going to move on from him.

They may not, but they may. What about Brandon Staley? I kind of feel like at this point, head coaching job is, maybe the shine's not quite there.

On a downtrend, I'd say. Right, but maybe a coordinator. You know who I haven't heard a word about, but if Ron Rivera gets fired, Eric B. Enemy likely gets fired as well. So he would then be like a total free agent, wouldn't be attached to a team at all. What if the Bills lose and miss the playoffs?

What if they lose to McDermott? Ooh. No, really? Maybe.

No. Buffalo Bills missing the playoffs this year, that would be a pretty big disappointment. But think about how many injuries they've had though.

Sure, but how many injuries does every team have? That's true, and actually Sean McDermott mentions that because they've got this AFC East battle coming up on Sunday night, and the winner will in fact be the division champion. It could be the Dolphins, but it could be the Bills. Now I would say the Bills right now are playing some of the best football of the season.

They've won four in a row, they've got a ton of momentum. Meanwhile, the Dolphins have, well I don't know what happens this weekend, but we know Bradley Chubb isn't going to be available. He tore his ACL, so Mike Daniels is under fire for that a bit. Having him still on the field in a game in which there was no shot, they were going to come back. One thing I did hear about Bradley Chubb is one of the reasons he was still out there, or defensive guys were still out there, is because there had been a turnover, I think, and so the defense, before they could make the changes, the defense had to unexpectedly go right back on the field. So they were in the process of getting their starters off the field, but they were kind of caught unawares and had to go right back on the field. But certainly, Mike McDaniel feels terrible and wanted to get him off the field, wanted to get a lot of these guys off the field and just couldn't do it quickly enough. But also Raheem Mostert and Jalen Waddle didn't play this past weekend either, so we'll have to wait and see their status, but they're down a few guys.

And so yeah, if you're just looking at it on paper, it seems like the Bills right now have the upper hand, not to mention they shellacked the Dolphins earlier in the season, but they've also lost a couple of guys too. Huh, interesting. There's no way, no. I don't know.

Maybe it's just me, but I can't imagine letting him go. Hmm. Wow. You just planted a seed. But it's possible.

Right. I mean, there will always be a surprise coaching firing. Every season there's at least one that's a surprise. If they lose and they miss the playoffs and it looks bad, I could see it.

I really could. I mean, that's pretty unacceptable for a team with Super Bowl aspirations for the last how many years to fall short again. And this would be the year they don't even make the playoffs. I still can't believe that it's possible that neither the Bengals nor the Bills would be in the playoffs this year. And yes, the Bills could win the AFC East with a victory over Miami on Sunday night, but they can also lose out with various dominoes.

We can go over those come Thursday night into Friday morning. So which coaches? Here's another thought. And I don't think this is true.

I could be totally wrong. But what if the Cowboys, let's say they win the NFC East because they're in control of their own destiny. Now, they just have to beat the commanders in week 18, though it is on the road, which means they're not the same team.

So if they end up winning the NFC East but not making the NFC championship, does Mike McCarthy get let go? Oh, I hate this. It gives me a pit in my stomach.

Does it for you? Yeah, it's like an uncomfortable laugh I just did. It's an inappropriate laugh? Kind of, yeah. Yeah, why are you laughing?

Wait till someone's talking about you getting fired. No, it's an uncomfortable laugh. It is.

Wow. Who else do you think? I mean, there are some guys that are safe no matter what. Like, for instance, Pete Carroll. He can stay in Seattle as long as he wants. I think he should be able to stay in Seattle as long as he wants.

I don't, I'm sorry Steelers fans. Mike Tomlin's not going anywhere. They've offered him a contract extension. I can take him as my coach on my team any day. Yeah, seriously.

Like, hello. I'll take him right now. Please. Can we, like, trade for him and, like, swap Sean Payton and Mike Tomlin? Todd Bowles?

I don't think, I don't know. See, that's a hard one because they're in transition from Brady to... True, yeah. So, I still... Dennis Allen. First year. Oh, Dennis Allen I can see. Is it his second year now?

Yeah, second year. And I was surprised that they actually kept him. Huh.

What about... hmm. I mean, we know the Raiders job is available. Could they try to lure, again, AFC West, could they try to lure one of these higher profile candidates? We know Sean McVeigh is staying with LA. He's made the promise on his own show with JB Long. Interesting.

There's always going to be one surprise. What about in Chicago? Do you think in Chicago they would make a change? The Eagles? Did you say the Eagles?

I did. Stop it. Nick Sirianni's not getting fired. What about... no, he's not getting fired.

He lost both his coordinators last season. It's a lot of transition for them. The locker room seems to be pretty turmoil-y a lot of the season. Did you say turmoil-y? Turmoil-y.

Turmoil-y. Huh. I don't know. I'm not sure if things are so smooth there.

I don't know. No way. I would seriously, like, eat... what would I eat? I may eat a worm if Nick Sirianni got fired, but I don't know if they could get Bill Belichick. No, no, no, no. Stop it. Stop starting rumors.

Brian Deball's safe, we believe, in New York. Yeah, I would say so. And Robert Sol is, because it was all about Aaron Rodgers, and Rodgers, that didn't pan out. Huh. Mike McCarthy is definitely interesting. That was a... Yeah, that's kind of your moment with Sean McDermott is my moment with Mike McCarthy.

So, whatever. Available candidates. What if Jim Harbaugh decides he wants to go back to the NFL? I think there's teams who have a coach in place who would, like we were saying before, if the opportunity was there, if Jim Harbaugh says, I want to go to you guys, how do we make this work? You might have to.

Especially if he went to the national championship. Hmm. Why are we starting rumors? Oh my gosh.

I was not thinking Sean McDermott at all, but I know earlier in the season there was buzz about that. Another locker room where it kind of hasn't been all chummy this entire season. Chummy.

I like that word. Well, the whole Stephon Diggs situation. Nah, I'm going nah.

Dennis Allen is one that, gosh, could you imagine more turnover in the NFC South? Heavens. All right.

So, there's lots of possibilities and we don't know exactly who will be available, but who would you trust to lead your team is the question. So, on Twitter, ALawRadio, or on our show Twitter after our CBS, or then also our Facebook page, or as Bill likes to call it, my face. I'm in your face. They do travel and we're going to need them to travel. It's going to be a great atmosphere on Sunday night down there in Miami and we're going to need all those fans we can get down there. This is After Hours with Amy Lawrence.

If it weren't right on the heels of the holidays, I would say no problem. Now I do expect Bill's Mafia to show up in Miami because let's be honest, people who don't like the cold, this is an excuse for them to visit South Florida right after Christmas or right in January. It's After Hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS Sports Radio. We'll talk more about that AFC East battle. Sunday Night Football.

It's been flexed to Sunday Night Football. And so once again, it's a winner take all for a division title and if you haven't looked, there's a bunch of division titles that are still up for grabs. In fact, half of the NFL divisions are still up for grabs. We don't have a winner of the AFC South. We don't have a winner of the NFC South. We don't have a winner for the NFC East. And we don't yet have a winner for, who am I missing? One, two, oh no I got all four. So both Easts and both Souths. Why are neither one of those easy to do? Both Easts.

This is radio, I talk for a living. Wests. Yeah that's, nah. I do enjoy the fact that we've got so much still hanging in the balance and also that it's so dramatic. The Bills could actually make the playoffs as the AFC East champion. And a wild card, though the dominoes would have to fall. Or they could miss the playoffs entirely.

Oi. Seriously, if the Bills beat the Dolphins, they're in. But then, if they don't, they need the Steelers to lose, the Jaguars to lose, or the Texans and Colts to tie. Okay, that's, that better not happen.

But either way, there's a lot of different ways they can get in, but they could also find themselves on the outside looking in. If they lose to the Dolphins, the Steelers beat the Ravens, which we don't know how many of the Ravens starters are gonna play in week 18. The Jaguars lose, and the Texans and Colts don't tie. Well they're gonna be out. That's still, that's a lot. That's a lot that has to happen. The Texans and Colts are not tying.

So that's probably not gonna happen. And the Jaguars are on the road at Tennessee. Well we know. Mike Vrabel, he is not just playing out the string.

Don't talk to him about mailing it in for week 18. Because it sucks to lose, Gentry. Gentry. Sentry. Trey, did we need to show you anything?

Did you have another thought or no? I'm just curious. It f***ing sucks. Losing.

Awful. That's why I want to win. You don't sleep. You want to win for the players that bust their tail. That's it. Pretty much sums it up.

Losing sucks. Gentry. Awful. You don't sleep.

You don't eat. Gentry. That spits out his name. Such disgust. Such disgust.

That's definitely a Hall of Flame candidate. Let's talk to Burt who's in Baltimore. Welcome to After Hours, CBS Sports Radio. What do you think, Burt? Hey Amy, how you doing?

I'm good. I think the Bills are in, which is not what I called. But after getting destroyed by the Ravens, the Bills are gonna beat Miami by at least three touchdowns. Lamar is not gonna play this weekend, so the Steelers are gonna walk all over the Ravens, which they could care less about. But I called because although I am a Ravens fan, I traded in the Washington Dan Sniders about 25 years ago.

I grew up in the D.C. area and was a diehard Redskins fan for 20 or 25 years. And I think regardless of the outcome of the national championship game, Jim Harbaugh is going to be flashing the peace sign to the NCAA minus his index finger. As in peace out? Oh, I get it. As in the other one. Yeah, I got you.

Sorry, I cut you off. Yeah, I got you. Right, right.

Yes. And there's still a little part of me that pulls for those losers, and I think Josh Harris is gonna be looking for somebody that does want total control of the team, which has, I know, been a sticking point for Harbaugh in a lot of his interviews with other organizations. So I'd love to see Jim, I'm sure they would like it too, 30 minutes down the road from his brother. Oh, didn't even think about that. The main reason I called, I started calling like a half hour ago when you were discussing this Hawaii prank. Here's how you here's how you pull it off.

Okay. Everything that you said, you tell Bob about Jay always wanting to go and you tell him, in fact, that he is going. And when CBS found out that you're both going to be in Hawaii, they insist that you run at least a couple of shows. And so they booked him a room adjacent to yours, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

Oh my gosh. But I think he would fall for that hook, line and sinker. What do you think?

He might actually, I could sell it. I have another story about how I pulled the wool over his eyes not that long ago. And I had to, I had to pivot on the fly. I was trying to keep a secret from him and he thought he had it.

He was knocking on the door and I had to do the whole poker face and like run in her feet. I mean, I, yeah, it was touch and go there for a while. So if I could sell that with him being none the wiser, I might be able to sell this. Interesting. Like a sponsor stepped up.

Yeah, a sponsor stepped up and was like, hey, we want shows from Hawaii. Absolutely. It's definitely, it's definitely at least credible.

So see how gullible he is. One will be one of your listeners. I am one of them looking forward to tomorrow night, FYI. Oh, thank you. I'm so glad to hear that, Bert.

Yeah, we'll mix in the wedding stories because trust me, there are a few that, that will make people laugh. So I know people told me, a lot of people told me, you're not going to remember anything. It's a blur. No, not, not the case with me. I remember all these snafus and the mistakes and the things that didn't go the way they were supposed to. Well, mine was 25 years ago.

I fall into the blur category. Oh, well, don't you worry. I'll give you something to laugh at. Awesome. Well, have a great night. Thanks for taking the call. Thanks, Bert.

Happy New Year to you. Well, that's nice. There's one. We'll have one listener for tomorrow's show, Jay. I think Bert's really onto something there with his idea for the Hawaii prank. Okay, but Bob would kill me.

But to make it like sound more related. It's our honeymoon. Yeah, but why would I do, why would I work on my honeymoon?

He might, that might be a, that might be a deal breaker. Or what if I say, oh, here's the thing. What if I say they've agreed to pay for it? Like I said to them, it's the honeymoon.

I'm not going to work on my honeymoon. What if we pay for it? What if we pick up the tab? But Jay has to go along. That's the caveat. That's the caveat. If we get the trip for free, I only have to work, say, three days. But Jay's going to be there too. Then he might get excited.

Really? Maybe. About you being on our honeymoon? Well, not me, but like a free trip to Hawaii.

Sounds good to me. Right. So I don't want to get him excited and be like, oh, wait, no, actually we're paying for it. I mean, isn't that what the prank is all about? I'd have to watch out, though, because paybacks are a you-know-what.

And he might spend a year coming up with a payback. Oh, he might kill me. All right. We're onto something. We are. We are.

It's got to be perfected. Okay. All right. Coming up, coaches that could be available. Did we talk about Chicago?

It's a real, very real possibility Chicago could be open as well. Yeah, we don't know yet. Huh? I don't. I'm getting a pit in my stomach. I don't like this. I don't like people getting fired. I do think it's amusing that Steelers fans want to fire Mike Tomlin. Also really amusing that people are like, oh, Belichick's time to retire. He's lost his touch. Yes. The Hall of Famer just forgot how to coach.

Yeah, that's ridiculous. You are listening to the After Hours podcast. The thing for me, more than anything else, just been the you know, we didn't live up to the expectations that we have or that I had personally. You know, I really felt there were some opportunities and some things that we missed. And that to me is probably the biggest disappointment more than anything else, because, you know, I really felt we had we had the makings of enough good players in certain situations that we should have won a few more games.

This is After Hours with Amy Lawrence. The unmistakable voice of Ron Rivera, likely about to run his course there with the commanders. Now, we don't know that for sure, but because of the new ownership group and because there's not been success, it's very likely that he could be let go.

And as I was following that thought process, I was thinking that about Eric the enemy, who's been a candidate of sorts at different times, hotter versus colder. But has been a candidate over the past several years or with a coaching carousel. I haven't heard his name mentioned even once.

Popular candidates or popular names right now include Ben Johnson, who's the OC in Detroit. Another one that we're hearing more and more is Jim Harbaugh now for a couple of reasons. Number one, he had great success with the Niners. It was the friction and the acrimonious relationship with Trent Balke, who was the GM in San Francisco at the time.

That really was the end of his tenure there. But he had taken the Niners to three straight NFC championship games. And of course, they went to the Super Bowl against the Ravens in was the 2012 season. But 2013 was the game.

I know that because the first one that I ever covered here as a member of CBS Sports Radio. If Jim Harbaugh decides he wants to come back to the NFL or go back to the NFL to do it on a high note like this one would be exhilarating. But also his agent is Don Ye. You may or may not know that name, but he has a ton of NFL connections. And to win a national championship would almost make you feel like, hey, I've got nothing left to prove now.

Let's go back. And he is again, this is his success. Not not a guy that isn't proven in the NFL like a Matt Ruhl, so to speak. So those are two names that are not head coaches. Currently in the NFL, but there are others that we think will be let go joining the guys who've already been fired. So Frank Reich, Brandon Staley. There's some talk about Arthur Smith as well at Atlanta.

Dan Quinn will certainly be popular. Speaking of Atlanta. What about a Mike Vrabel in Tennessee? And then Jay and I were talking about maybe Chicago. He mentions Buffalo. I think that's so unlikely, but I suppose if the Bills miss the playoffs. That's only if the Bills missed a playoff. I think is that scenario might happen.

Wow. I mean, you're right. There's always a surprise.

Always a surprise. Would it be that crazy? Again, only if they miss the playoffs.

What would be crazier? Well, no. Probably if they miss the playoffs, no. But McDermott? Well, and if they somehow lose to Miami after shellacking Miami earlier in the year. But what would be crazier?

McDermott or McCarthy? What do the Cowboys do? They lose in the... Well, let's say they win their first playoff game and they lose in the divisional round. Gosh. That's a good question. I mean, I could see both happening. I really could. And I think both could be justified.

I really do. We know Sean McVay is not going anywhere. He had this revelation on his own radio show with the voice of the play-by-play. That's JB Long. You're tied for second in Rams history now for regular season wins. Nice.

I did not know that. Congratulations. Appreciate that. Come on.

I really didn't. John Robinson ahead of you. How far ahead?

Within striking distance next season, if you can promise us there's going to be a Coach McVay Show 2024 edition. That I can promise you. Oh my God. That's good to hear. That's so you.

How far ahead? I love it. It's so you. Happy New Year. Congratulations on a winning season. And go deep, will you?

Hey, let's do it. And the Rams are, I would say, a surprise team this year in the postseason. Jay and I did a video going, we're going to have to go back and watch this just to see who our teams are.

But some of them are still alive. So we did a video going back to preseason. The seven teams that will enter the playoffs this year that were not in it before. Sorry, not in them last year.

Okay, so new playoff teams in 2023. And I'm pretty sure I had Atlanta as one of mine. We had Pittsburgh, did we not? We did. You did, I believe. We had Detroit.

Oh yes. And Detroit is, in fact, in the playoffs. We also had Cleveland.

One of us did. Either me or you, but I don't remember which one of us had Cleveland. I'm pretty sure I had Cleveland. Okay, so Cleveland is also in. I also had the Rams.

You had the Rams as well? I did. Oh my gosh. Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. This is part of, we'll have to go back and watch it or maybe we'll bring back the audio here on the show.

This was part of our Stairway to Seven series on our YouTube channel, After Hours with Amy Lawrence. And we know that half the playoff field turns over every year. And we nailed what, five of them? Detroit, Cleveland. Well, we don't know about Atlanta yet, but they're still alive. Detroit, Cleveland, LA, and Pittsburgh. I said the Saints in one, who we don't know. Maybe, right? That's the issue in the NFC South.

They're still, obviously, a bunch of different ways. The Buccaneers win at Carolina and they get in. The Saints or Falcons are playing each other. And if the Buccaneers lose, it's the winner of the Saints and Falcons.

So they can still get in. That one's relatively cut and dried. Dallas wins, they're in as the NFC, well, they're already in, but they're the NFC East champions. Jacksonville beats Tennessee and they are repeat AFC South champions. If not, then it comes down to different scenarios for Colts and Texans.

It's a lot. Miami and Buffalo, that's the one that got flexed to Sunday night. I just saw this post on Facebook and I know you're going to laugh at this.

We're asking you about the coaches that you would trust to lead your team if, in fact, your team has an opening and some of these guys become available. And on our Facebook page, Craig says Tomlin should be available, but he won't be. Gosh. Every year. It's every year. Seventeen straight years without a losing season. Let's get rid of the guys. And Pittsburgh is still alive for the playoffs. And he has the nerve to make a quarterback change at this point in the season to win. So if they beat Baltimore, they're in, right?

So if they beat Baltimore, well, you're obviously not firing Mike Tomlin if they make the playoffs, despite using three different quarterbacks. I mean, I'll take him. Can we trade him for Sean McVay? Not McVay. Sorry. Sean.

Sean. I like my coach and I'll take him. All right. We'll talk to you tonight.
