I can't wait to see what the Lions do as an encore to the second half of last season. He wanted to get flexed. It took until week 18, but now he doesn't want anyone to be on the hype train. He wants the hype train to be a ghost train. The hype train. I don't know if I've heard another coach call this narrative around the Lions, the hype train, but I think it's catchy.

It's after hours with Amy Lawrence, CBS Sports Radio. I would say driving the hype train is Jared Goff. Actually, it is pretty cool the way that Jared Goff has found a new home in Detroit and the fact that he not only has the support of Dan Campbell and the coaching staff, but that it's given him confidence. If the Lions are to surge, there are going to be some people who would say it's in spite of Jared Goff, but if you're really paying attention, you know he had a great season last year. He's taking much better care of the football. He's playing like he believes in not just himself, but the people around him. And that's powerful. It's certainly powerful in team sports. We'll do the Tuesday morning edition of QB News coming up.

And yes, that's your tease. You will hear from Jared Goff about his time with the Lions. He waxes a bit poetic at the start of training camp. Also, Deshaun Watson no longer has court cases, civil cases, lawsuits, a suspension hanging over his head. He's now in the free and clear for the first time since the 2020 season. When, if I remember correctly, he was a Pro Bowl quarterback. Do they have the Pro Bowl in 2020?

I don't think they did. But he feels freer with his legal issues behind him, the suspension behind him, a full offseason to get ready and know that he will be able to play in week number one, barring any type of injury. It certainly does beg the question about whether or not the Browns with a full season as Deshaun. Well, first of all, can he recapture his rhythm? Can he recapture that form that he had when he was with the Houston Texans and one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the NFL or has too much time passed?

That's a huge question mark. If you think about the AFC North, Lamar Jackson getting his deal. So still with the Ravens. Obviously, can he pick it in year number two? A lot of reps last season that many would consider throwaway, except he was getting his feet wet and he was learning on the job, as Mike Tomlin said. You really can't take any type of shortcut to experience as a quarterback. And then Joe Burrow with the Bengals.

So still the team to beat there in the AFC North. But what can the Browns do with a healthy Deshaun Watson, who would be their quarterback for the entire season? Lots of interesting questions as training camps get underway. It's After Hours with Amy Lawrence.

You can find us at After Hours, CBS at A Law Radio is me and then our Facebook page as well. One show at the end of the week that I will not be hosting. So we have to cram in all of the shenanigans between now and then. Jay, I've had to stop myself from checking the weather forecast obsessively. Oh, my gosh, it's so bad because I'm really nervous. I'm not anxious about whatever the the trip to Houston.

I don't care about flying. I'm excited to get to Texas. I'll even deal with the extreme heat and humidity as long as I can get there.

The part that's stressing me out is the part that. Might mean a delayed flight. There's a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms on Thursday, of course.

Of course, there has to be. Thunderstorm activity on the day that I need to fly. Can you please do something about that? Can we call up Jim Cantore and ask him to change the forecast, please? So I keep obsessively checking the forecast to see if the. Thunderstorm possibilities have changed. I will say we had possibilities on Monday and got nothing in my neighborhood. So did you get anything at home? No, not even a little.

All right. So maybe they'll peter out. It seems to be fluctuating like every five minutes, the weather in the past like, well, a month or two. What happens in the summertime with the heat and humidity? There's a chance that the humidity and the heat could build up enough to facilitate thunderstorms.

But can they just not be Thursday is all I'm asking. So last Friday, we had about an 85 percent chance of thunderstorms in my neighborhood and we got nothing. After 8 a.m., there was absolutely nothing. They broke up. They never did amount to anything.

So if that could happen Thursday, I would be thrilled. Sunday night, we had a zero percent chance of any sort of precipitation. I'm sorry, what? Rain. Precip. Just say precip. I'll just say rain. The cool kids say precip.

Do they? Mm hmm. The cool weather kids, the weather nerds. I wish I was a cool weather kid. You could. There's still hope for you. You could still attach that.

I don't know if I would be that cool. But but yeah, we had zero percent chance of rain on Sunday night. And then around, I don't know, 9 p.m. Eastern Time, just a squall just came in and just torrential downpoured for like, I don't know, half hour. Those are the best. Yeah.

Waters the lawn, waters the flowers. That's awesome. Yeah. But I'm just like that's where it goes to show where 40 percent could mean 100, 80 percent could mean zero.

No one knows now it is. Well, it's the summertime again. It's the heat and humidity. These you can get these pop up showers, these pop up thunderstorms. They pop up. They surprise you. I better watch out.

I think you'll be good Thursday. Just a feeling. Oh, oh, good.

A gut instinct. That's it. Well, that's very helpful when it comes to the weather. Thank you.

Just going with my gut there. Oh, my gosh. Actually, speaking of travel and air travel specifically, on Tuesday morning in, I don't know, four and a half hours ish, I've got an appointment with are you ready? TSA Precheck. I actually caved because I saw this is crazy, but it was a sale on TSA Precheck. Isn't that nutty?

You wouldn't think that'd be the case. But if I remember correctly, it was one hundred dollars for four or five years. You had to sign up for four to five years. It was one hundred bucks initially. The prices dropped down to seventy eight bucks for five years. That's a pretty sweet ratio.

It's a good deal. The airport I typically fly out of is Newark Airport in New Jersey. And a lot of times the Precheck lines are longer than the actual security line.

So I'm not sure it will help me much in New Jersey, but every other airport, I can use it anywhere else for the next five years. How about that for seventy eight bucks? You always have it in your back pocket, right?

The wine's ridiculous. Oh, yeah, wait, I got this. You know, you don't have to use it.

I will be using it. Yeah. You don't have to take off your shoes, if I remember correctly. That's nice. You can leave everything in your bag. And yes, typically in most airports there would be shorter lines to get through security, just not generally at Newark, at least as I've observed.

To not have to take off your shoes is worth it alone, right there. Here's my question, though. I have the appointment this morning, Tuesday morning. Will I be eligible already come Thursday or no? Do you think it has to be processed like a passport so it takes months potentially before I'm actually cleared for TSA PreCheck? I'm not sure. Do you get like a card or something? No, right? They just have your name. I have no idea.

I don't know. I've never done it. I've never done it either.

This will be my first time. I would guess if once it's done and you're entered into their little club or their system, you're in. Are you making fun of the fact that I'm about to be TSA PreCheck cleared?

No, that was out of jealousy. If you would like for your Christmas present, I will pay for you to be TSA PreCheck cleared. That would actually be an incredible present.

Would it? Okay, you got it. That's your next gift. The thing is I had to file the application and then I had to get an appointment, which took, it's taken over a month for an appointment. And thankfully it is first thing in the morning after I take care of pens and have breakfast and everything else. So it doesn't really interrupt my sleep schedule too much.

And it's just a few miles down the road from me. But I really do want to know if I'll be eligible to use it on Thursday. Maybe they give you a temporary card. You know how sometimes you get paperwork for your car with the DMV and it's temporary and to wait for the permanent paperwork to show up? Are you Googling whether or not they give me a card?

Is it like my AAA card? I have a TSA PreCheck card or it's just a checkmark. I'm verified. That's it.

That's what's going to happen. I'm going to be verified with TSA. Screw you, Twitter.

I'd rather be verified with TSA. Screw what? Screw you. X marks the spot.

DMX marks the spot. So it says here it could take three to five days. That's a bummer.

Yeah. It would be the second day. Three to five days for what though? What do you get? A card in the mail?

Oh, let's see. A checkmark on your head? Maybe you have to wear something that has a checkmark. Just through the line? A little vest? A wristband?

Like you're directing traffic? Oh, a wristband? Like you would wear it at a club?

Yeah, something like that. Because, you know, I go to so many clubs. They put an X on your hand like they do at the clubs, right?

No, that's not happening. I'm not putting anything on my hand, my body, my face, my forehead, my hair. No, you're not touching me with anything for TSA pre-check. Anybody out there who has had TSA pre-check, let me know what I should be looking for.

A card, paperwork, a document. Do they give me a lollipop? That would be nice. It's After Hours with Amy Lawrence here on CBS Sports Radio. All right, Richard says, check, because some credit cards will reimburse your TSA pre-check fees. Ooh, I get a number right away. He says, thank you, Richard. I appreciate you listening and answering my burning questions. I see that now. Oh, you do? I mean, I asked you to Google. You love Google.

You couldn't come up with the answer as quickly as Richard could on Twitter. You've got to work it. You know, I've got the one thing now I've found where I need to be.

There was incentive once I told you I'd be buying this for your Christmas present. So no, there is no TSA pre-check card. Travelers should enter their known traveler number and their airline reservations to receive the pre-check indicator on their boarding pass. So when I go to check in online on Wednesday, I should already have a number available to me on Tuesday.

Yeah, right. Okay, so I've seen that before, your known traveler number, known KT. I don't know if it has an acronym or not. I've seen it before, though, so I can enter it.

It's a little bit like my frequent flyer number, same area, and then potentially could already be eligible for TSA pre-check. You could. Oh, sweet.

If it enters right away, it looks like it should. Are you jealous? You're jealous, aren't you? Yeah, I admitted I was. That's it. That's your Christmas present. I'm sorry it won't be a surprise. Well, you'll forget by then.

Probably. Okay, before we get to QB news, which features both Jared Goff and Deshaun Watson and a few others, I want to at least let you hear some of this audio from Austin Rivers, and credit to producer Jay for finding this, because right now in the NBA, what is the big story? You've got a couple of superstars who are waiting on trades, believing for trades, even though their respective clubs don't actually want to trade them.

We just heard from Daryl Morey last week. In Philadelphia, he said, we want James Harden to be part of the Sixers moving forward, but we're trying to honor his request. He wants something different out of his contract. He's not happy with his contractual situation.

He wants out. We're attempting to honor his trade request. Daryl Morey, of anyone else on the planet, is familiar with James Harden's trade requests. He already went through this in Houston. Then Brooklyn had to go through it. And now Philadelphia. And it's Daryl Morey.

X marks the spot again. Not just that, but Joe Cronin in Portland trying to honor the trade request of Damian Lillard, who admittedly has given the Blazers the best of what he's got, the best of who he's been for the last decade. But now he wants out.

And Joe is left with the unenviable position of attempting to walk the line. You've got to take care of your club, but you don't want to do wrong by Damian Lillard. It's the NBA. I say this a lot where everyone plays with his BFF, except there is at least one other NBA player who thinks it's wrong. Austin Rivers, son of Doc Rivers.

I know your favorite coach in Philadelphia. He tells the ringer that he doesn't like what the NBA has become with stars demanding out. Regardless of how good of a player you are, man, the NBA is not it's a privilege. And if you are free agent, then you could choose where you were going to go. That's the business. But when you're not and you sign a deal, man, that's part of the business, bro. If you get traded somewhere like you've got to go play, man, you know what I mean?

Like for sure. The whole and this started with like James and Ben and all these guys doing this bad for the league. This is why our CBA deal that we just signed.

And I don't even want to get heavy into that. That thing's don't even get me started on that deal that we got going. We'll let you hear him rant a little more on the CBA in a second.

But on the ringer and we're attempting to figure out who it was that he is talking to. But he says. You got a contract. You get traded, you go. You shouldn't be able to throw your weight around and say, I'm not going to show up, I'm not going to play. And furthermore, these guys who demand trades and want to dictate where they go, they're forgetting that the NBA is a privilege.

You can understand as a coach's son why he would have that opinion. Also, he's not a superstar himself, right? He wasn't crowned the chosen one, the anointed one. He wasn't a number one draft pick.

Nice. He's worked. And I applaud him and his efforts and the fact that he has remained in the NBA himself for over a decade. Now, he was a first round pick. He just wasn't the number one overall pick.

He was a lottery pick, though. Going back to 2012? 2011? I'm going to go 2012 for Austin Rivers. And he's played for a bunch of different teams.

The Hornets slash Pelicans, the Clippers, the Wizards, the Rockets, the Knicks, the Nuggets, and last year, the Timberwolves. So his situation is a little different. If Austin Rivers demands a trade, guess what happens? It falls on deaf ears, more than likely. But I do appreciate that he doesn't think that's how players should be navigating the landscape. And as we've talked about, and as many people have noted, it can be off-putting. It can be something that fans, I guess, turns fans off. Fans react to in a negative way when it feels like stars are banding together, dictating where they're going. And Austin actually agrees.

It's a scary dynamic when stars start acting like this. And I'm not a big fan of it, I've got to be honest with you. And I'm a big fan of Damian.

Everyone knows. I mean, I've had so many battles with him. I've been in many playoff series against Damian.

And he's probably one of the hardest players I've ever had to guard in my entire life. Everyone knows the clip where I had to pray to God when he missed that shot. Because that's how good he is, man.

You've just got to hope he misses sometimes. But I don't like when stars do that. Because it's just like, what does every other player do? So because you're a good player, you just don't have to show up?

Hmm. Do you think Austin Rivers echoes the sentiments of many fans and probably some other players around the league on the ringer? Again, Coach's son, which is important to note.

He was raised and coached with a particular philosophy in his own house. And he believes it's dangerous for this subset of players, superstar players, to have this type of power. Because it creates a dichotomy and an imbalance around the league.

And I don't love it. I don't love that there are a bunch of stars who've demanded trades and, in addition, threatened to act like total buffoons if they don't get traded. James Harden was, he was a jerk to his teammates, to his coaches. There in Houston he wanted out, so he showed up out of shape, fat, overweight. He broke COVID protocols and he didn't give a crap. I understand that you want to be able to have some control over your life, your contract, your future. But not at the expense of your teammates and your coaches. I've not been able to support him since. Even Draymond Green said he acted like a total jerk. But that is what happens. Guys want to use their leverage and if that means they have to make a particular team miserable so they can get what they want.

Yeah, I would agree with Austin that the ends don't justify the means in this situation. Thank you for all of your tweets about TSA PreCheck. I like it.

I'll take any advice you can give. ALaw Radio and then our Facebook page too. We'll get to some QB news coming up next because it's never a bad morning for QB news. Training camps popping. They're popping all over. I think it'd be fun to go hang out at a training camp. More of a laid back vibe.

Instead, we're here. Popping. Popping. Being a baseball play-by-play broadcaster demands a blend of learned mechanics, intense preparation and a calm sense of entertainment. How hard is it to do this job?

Let's talk to the ones who do it. This is Matt Spiegel. My new podcast, The PBP Voices of Baseball, will bring those conversations to you as the best working and former broadcasters tell you why and how they do it. New episodes come every Thursday all summer long. Follow The PBP Voices of Baseball on the Odyssey app or wherever you find your podcasts. It's After Hours with Amy Lawrence, CBS Sports Radio.

You are listening to the After Hours Podcast. It's time for QB news on After Hours. The rookies have reported the majority of them around the NFL. Veterans have a couple of days left. Still a few more camps that will open. But by week's end, that's it. We are fully engulfed in the beginning of the NFL season during these dog days.

It's After Hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS Sports Radio. The Lions, well, they've got a hype train running through camp much to the chagrin of Dan Campbell. The hype train. However, Jared Goff driving the hype train may just be equipped to handle it because he has learned a ton since he was traded unceremoniously.

Remember, he was blindsided by the trade that sent him from L.A. to Detroit a couple seasons ago. Sometimes things happen to you that you think are bad and they're not. Yeah. And, you know, it turns out to be some of the greatest things ever. And I think you also learn that you're a lot tougher than you may think you are and you can handle a lot more. You know, when bad times happen, just keep your head down and the good times will come.

It just may take some time. I love that from Jared Goff. Along with age very often, age and experience comes wisdom and perspective. And Jared has it. And just like Devante Adams, Jared could now share part of his experience with other guys who land there in Detroit. And that maturity certainly extends to the huddle and to your decision making and to how you handle stressful situations and unexpected situations on the football field. Great year last year for Jared Goff, a big reason why the Lions are poised and, in fact, are riding the hype train.

It's After Hours with Amy Lawrence, CBS Sports Radio. Remember the NFC Beast last season? Three teams, Philadelphia, Dallas, and New York, all making the playoffs. And this year, big change for the Cowboys offense and Dak Prescott. It's Mike McCarthy who's calling plays. It's Dak who will have some freedom at the line of scrimmage.

And it's Brandon Cooks who will be among those catching passes from Dak trying to get to know his new quarterback right now. I just had the spring, you know, to get going. But, you know, the biggest thing that I've noticed is, you know, it's fast paced. Like, you know, we want to get to the ball. You know, Coach McCarthy talked about attack and not waiting and sitting back but going out on attack. And that's what I've noticed, you know, through our practices, through our throwing sessions, you know, this offseason.

So the faster the better. And so I'm all for that. Brandon Cooks speaking to NFL Network. It's going to be interesting to see what happens. He's going to have him being the number one guy. Brandon Cooks, Michael Gallup in there as well. Will they have receivers step up, right? They don't have Ezekiel Elliott anymore. Tony Pollard, though he is expected to show up, is playing on a franchise tag. Dak's going to need some help. He's going to need some guys to come together and make sure that this is a seamless transition with the departure of Kellen Moore as their offensive coordinator and the transition there with voices and coaches. So that's in the NFC. In the AFC, it's not a starkey transition because Deshaun Watson did play a few games with the Browns last year.

But now he is firmly QB 1, full speed ahead, no suspension, no more legal issues. And yeah, he can definitely feel that weight lifted off his shoulders. I can just lock in on my craft. I can lock in on my job, my profession. When I leave the football field, I can focus on studying the game and not having any distractions.

So that's what I'm just doing is just taking it one day at a time, one opportunity at a time, and really just cherishing this moment as best as I can. He's in a really good place. I think this is going to be a big year for him professionally and personally. We think he's in great shape physically. He's been really good on the field. And I love what he's done off the field. So we're excited about him, looking forward to see how the next weeks play out and as we get into the season with our quarterback. In addition to hearing Deshaun, the voice of Andrew Berry, the general manager of the Browns, who is speaking at the opening of their training camp, Deshaun feels like Cleveland is the right fit for him.

And I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fully guaranteed contract. I'm blessed. I'm happy.

I'm grateful, thankful for this opportunity. You know, I talked to the team last night. We had opportunity. Kevin called up a couple guys and, you know, we gave our history, our story.

He called it the four H's, which is the history about yourself, your heroes, your heartbreaks and your hopes. Had the opportunity to speak to the team and told my story. But, you know, I'm just happy about just life in general. And, you know, I have a great support cast around me, have a great family, have a great home and the organization that's backing me up.

So with that foundation, you know, I feel like I can get back to where I was and be even better as a person and as a player. Of course, he has nothing to be sorry for, remember? Just happy to have it all behind him.

I'm sorry. I'm trying not to be snarky, but I wonder if as he was giving his history with Kevin Stefanski and the other Browns that were in attendance, if he did talk about the past couple of years and standing on the sidelines for the Houston Texans, getting paid not to play in twenty one and then getting traded to Cleveland, serving the suspension, settling all the lawsuits. Oh, I will say this. It's now in his past and he does have the free and clear to sail forward. And he also can now speak about what that was like and how he believes that he was painted in a negative, unfair light. A lot of people knew of me. A lot of people heard different things. A lot of people, especially last year, has heard different things. A lot of people watched me through college because we have a young team. So they, you know, kind of too. But they didn't know my history history from where I grew up.

You know, Gainesville, Georgia, 815 Harrison Square, the session apartments. You know, that type of situation of, you know, when I was a young kid, I didn't think of the NFL. I didn't know I was going to make it out of high school. You know, my mom being sick and having tongue cancer and not being able to eat solid food ever again.

You know, not having a father figure in my life ever, probably 27 years, only seeing him four times. You know, and, you know, different stuff like that is just these things that people don't really get to hear about. You know, especially last year has been, you know, the media directing and narrating some something else. You know, it's been kind of overshadowed. We all definitely do have stories and pass and various challenges and adversities that we have to face.

No such thing as a perfect life. And I will say this, I hope for his sake, his family's sake, the sake of the Browns, that it is all completely in the past and we're not having this conversation about Deshaun Watson. Not this particular one, but we're not having another conversation about Deshaun Watson facing lawsuits, civil suits being investigated for potential criminal charges, yada, yada, yada. I hope that is done and hope that's not a part of his story moving forward.

But it's going to be what you see on Google a lot of times if you do, in fact, look up Deshaun Watson. But there's no rule, no narrative that he can't now learn from that part of his story and change himself, his behavior, his perspective, his actions, his judgment, his decision-making moving forward. The great thing about the United States of America, one of the great things about the country we live in, is that we are a land of second and third and fourth and sometimes even more than that chances. As a society, we get all up in, you know, a public figure's business that's scandalous, it's interesting, it's like watching a train wreck at times and then, yeah, we move on. And again, if you're an athlete, especially one that's really good at his craft or if you're an entertainer or you are a celebrity, an actor, generally there is much grace awarded to you and very few people, I would say, if you can serve your time, so to speak, and in his case, it's the NFL for the suspension, very few people who don't have a chance at redemption in some form or another. It doesn't always turn out to be a public redemption like it is for Deshaun Watson, but I don't want to be a hypocrite. I think second chances are positive and that as humans, we deserve them, we can extend them to others.

And so for Deshaun Watson, I hope that he makes the most of his second chance, I truly do. And honestly, I think the NFL is interesting when the Cleveland Browns are contending because the Cleveland sports fan base is, well, they're deep and they have a lot of history themselves and also they're very funny. I do love interacting with Cleveland sports fans. I know we have a lot who listen to us from the shores of Lake Erie on 92-3.

So, yeah, I mean, I think the AFC North is more interesting if you have all four teams with those rivalries that are competing. All right, on TwitterX, ALawRadio, I'm trying to practice, on our Facebook page too. Coming up, is this the new version of the Dog Ate My Homework? We'll explain. You are listening to the After Hours podcast. Here it is.

This is After Hours with Amy Lawrence. From the category of you can't make this stuff up, if you missed it, Messi scoring an extra time on a free kick. It was glorious.

It was absolutely glorious. And so he's already firmly entrenched in Miami MLS lore. It's After Hours with Amy Lawrence here on CBS Sports Radio. Enter Miami CF. He was the captain in his debut.

He will be the captain with the armband coming up for his second game, according to the manager coach, Tata Martino. This game comes up later on Tuesday. It's actually something the NBA is trying, right? These tournaments in the middle of a season.

This is called the League's Cup. And so this is how Messi is making his debut. He could even start, apparently, though. He played 40 minutes in the last game, but he could start on Tuesday. The buzz around him.

It's really cool. I can't wait to see him myself. So whether it's this League's Cup or the actual MLS season in which Miami desperately needs a bump in the standings.

He is worth the price of admission. Sorry, DeAndre Yedlin. He used to be the captain. You got to give way to Messi.

It's After Hours with Amy Lawrence. That's play by play. I know it's from TV, but Apple TV worth hearing because it's Messi.

Messi, Messi, Messi. We had the start of the U.S. women's national team. Quest is a good word. That wouldn't be a good word.

That was too many letters. We had the start of the quest for the Americans to win a third straight women's World Cup. And since we had two dynamic debuts over the weekend, Sophia Smith, a rookie for Team USA, had a pair of goals.

She's awesome. She is one of the best players in the world. This just happens to be her first World Cup. And then Messi with Miami, the captain of the women's team, Lindsay Horan. She was asked who had the better debut, Sophia or Leo.

I'm going to have to say the better debut was Sophia Smith because it's on a greater stage. It's at the World Cup. She scored two goals, got an assist. Messi only scored one, but it was incredible. Incredible free kick. I actually can't believe that that happened. I think the best part was seeing all of the fans, fans meaning like Lebron and Kim Kardashian and all these people taking photos. So that was insane.

All right. So Sophia Smith has two goals in her debut. That's Lindsay Horan on U.S. women's national team. She is the captain actually.

So I guess she and Messi have that in common. That's on the Twitter page or the X page. It's the X page.

The whole thing sounds dumb. It's the X page. X marks the spot is all I keep thinking. Extract. Vanilla extract. Oh, I baked with vanilla extract earlier on Monday. It's delicious.

And actually it's the vanilla extract that came from Mexico that producer Jake. I'm almost out, by the way. Can you go back to Mexico and get me some more? Yeah. In a few months. You're going back in a few months?

No. Well, February or April. So that's not a few months. That's next year.

I'll be here soon. February or April. OK. I'm not sure yet. You're already planning that far out. Yeah.

For a trip to Mexico. One of the two. Gotcha. So what do you think? Sophia Smith or Leo? Oh, I got to go with Leo. No disrespect.

So see it. Sophia Smith. That was amazing to get to two goals in your first World Cup game. But I mean, just the way that Messi did it. The extra time. What? Less than a minute left. The free kick. Shakespeare could never have written it better.

It was amazing. I mean, Hurrian has to say that though, right? Because Sofia is her teammate. So I understand it.

After hours here on CBS Sports Radio. So before we hit the update, I said to you, this might be the new version of the dog ate my homework. First of all, before I say a word, I love dogs. I'm a dog lover. I have a dog.

My dog is 13 and a half. She's been running my life for more than 11 years. She's old now. She's mostly deaf. She's diabetic. She has chronic bronchitis. She has meds. The dog is she's also having accidents every now and then.

I love Penny dearly. I've never in my life. Driven 140 miles per hour because I needed to get home to my dog. But according to Vikings receiver Jordan Addison, he had a dog emergency at home. And that is why he was flying down the highway at three o'clock in the morning.

In a Lamborghini. Driving nearly 90 miles per hour over the speed limit. That's not 90 miles per hour, which would be scary enough. That's 90 miles per hour over the speed limit.

He was going out 140 in a 55. Holy crap. He actually told the state police. That he had a dog emergency and so he had to get home. Again, I love dogs. I really hope his dog is OK.

But this seems a little suspicious, as though it could be the new version of the dog ate my homework. Also, if you do not survive the drive home at 3 a.m. Going nearly 90 miles per hour over the speed limit, driving 140. If you do not survive that drive home, what good are you to your dog? I am very grateful that this is not another. Henry Rugg story, very grateful that Jordan Addison did not hurt himself or someone else. Hope his dog is OK, if in fact that was accurate. I dare say there have been some people over the history of our great nation who have attempted to lie to the police and say, Oh, yeah, I have an emergency at home or my grandmother's in the hospital or something, something, something. I'm going to need proof that his dog is OK, I think, to buy the story. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence, CBS Sports Radio.
