Christian doctrine teaches that we are completely and totally saturated with sin, and Jesus' teachings on judging reflect extreme ignorance of our own sinfulness. The gospel is the antidote to judging, and it's what Jesus brought to those who were condemned. When we understand the gospel, our faults shouldn't surprise us, and we should be more embarrassed by our own sin than enraged at others'. Judging is not about assessing someone's position, but rather dismissing them as a person. We should speak with grace and truth, just like Jesus did, and be sensitive to what people can handle. We should also learn to listen before speaking, and be patient with the pace of God in someone's life. [... more]

The Bible teaches that the tongue is a powerful force that can shape and impact someone's life for years to come. Leaders, in particular, have a responsibility to use their words wisely, as their words can have a significant impact on their followers. In James chapter 3, the Bible warns that if we do not control our words, we will struggle with self-control and our words will lead to negative consequences. On the other hand, if we learn to use our words wisely, we will be able to bridle our whole body and achieve great things. Effective communication is key to successful leadership, and leaders must be mindful of the words they use and how they use them. [... more]
