Gideon, with 300 men, is on the brink of total victory against the Midianites, but faces challenges from his own people, the men of Ephraim, who are more concerned with spoils of war than helping their allies. Gideon's gracious statesmanship averts bloodshed, and he continues to pursue the enemy, eventually killing the two kings, Ziba and Zalmunah, and their armies, despite being outnumbered 50 to 1.
