St. Thomas Aquinas distinguished between nature and grace, faith and reason, and philosophy and science, but not to separate them, but to show their ultimate unity. He argued for the existence of God through natural theology, using five proofs and the concept of necessary being, which means God's being is ontologically necessary and cannot not be. Aquinas also emphasized the importance of the analogy of being, which highlights the similarity between God and human beings, allowing for meaningful discussion about God.
