The trial of Jesus was a sham, with six injustices committed against him. The timing was unjust, with the trial taking place in the middle of the night, and the due process experience was unjust, with the Sanhedrin making the charges and Jesus not being given a fair chance to defend himself. The use of witnesses was also unjust, with the Sanhedrin looking for false witnesses and Jesus not being given the opportunity to bring counterwitnesses. The conviction process was unjust, with no vote taking place and Jesus being sentenced to death without a fair trial. The sentencing was unjust, with Jesus being sentenced to death by crucifixion, which was not the traditional method of execution in Jewish law. Pilate's final consent was also unjust, as he consented to the execution of Jesus to save his own skin, despite knowing that Jesus was innocent. [... more]
