Simple. Anyway, we've been hanging out for the last three hours. We've been talking college football, NFL football, Olympic level basketball, SEC, MLB, Paul's schemes. We got it all. Hey, thank you to Jason Mackey from the Pittsburgh Post Gazette for coming through to join us. Oh, that was a great chat that we had about Paul's schemes.
Hey, thank you as well. Kennington Smith came through and joined us from The Athletic to talk Alabama football. Their new head coach, Kellen DeBoer, spoke. And Nick Saban, well, he's just sucking up all the air in the room.
And why not? You know, before we get out of here, we'll hear what Caleb DeBoer had to say earlier today in his first SEC media day. Nothing wrong with the Pac-12 or whatever the hell it's called now.
Nothing wrong with being out west. Now you're in the south. Now you're in the SEC. Now you're where the big boys play. There's some high expectations there.
And speaking expectations, it is Wednesday. Right before we went to break, I delivered to you a new top six list. Because NFL rookies are showing up to work. Training camp is upon us. So I gave you a top six list of NFL rookies that I am most excited to see. These guys have the biggest storylines.
There's some intrigue there. And you can't squeeze everybody into six. But I tried my best. That's all I can do. And if you missed the full list, the explanations, the audio, you can hit rewind on the free Odyssey app. What I'm going to do is give you a truncated version right now. Go back.
Odyssey app. Listen to the last hour. And number six, I gave you Keyon Coleman, latest wide receiver for the Buffalo Bills, the team that can't beat the Chiefs. And number five, I gave you Xavier Worthy. The man, the speedster, the fastest man to ever complete the 40 yard dash at the NFL Combine. Coming out of Texas, this man ran the 40 with a four to one. He's selected by the Chiefs. They could certainly use a dynamic playmaker on offense knowing that Tyree kill has been gone for a few years now.
And let's see how Xavier Worthy works out. And number four, I gave you Malik Nabors out of LSU. LSU has been a wide receiver factory. And trust me, Daniel Jones, if he's healthy, he needs somebody to throw the ball to. There's no more Saquon as a security blanket.
He's in Philadelphia. I want to see if Malik Nabors can help save the ass of Daniel Jones. And number three, I gave you J.J. McCarthy. A lot of intrigue when it comes down to J.J. because he wasn't tasked with throwing the football around. Like guys like the guy on the other list was number two on the list, Jaden Daniels. So is J.J. McCarthy going to throw the rock in Minnesota? And how long is it going to take before he starts and jumps the depth chart in front of Sam Darnold, the guy who sees ghosts when he plays football? I told you Jaden Daniels is number two overall.
Not only was he the number two pick, he's number two on my list. This man won a Heisman. Of course, I want to see what he can do. A dynamic playmaker. He had an opportunity to throw the ball to Brian Thomas, as well as Malik Nabors. What is Jaden Daniels going to do at number two? And at number one, the top NFL rookie that I really want to see this year.
What does Caleb Williams do? A former Heisman winner. We've seen every emotion possible out of this guy. And I think Chicago Bears fans, have they warmed up to him? Are you a Bears fan? Have you warmed up to him?
I mean, months ago. I mean, we fielded so many calls from people from Chicago who still wanted fields and they wanted nothing to do with Caleb Williams. Is he going to change their minds?
Have people's minds changed already? And does he feel the pressure? Caleb Williams actually answered that question. This man, I want you to hear it.
Caleb Williams says, I don't feel no damn pressure. I just go to work. Listen to this. I go out there. I handle my job.
I'd be a great teammate. First and foremost, I handle business on and off the field. And then and then and then I go to work. I enjoy. I enjoy what I do.
I love what I do. I'm in there with my guys and my guys are seeing me. They see how hard I work. Their guy, their QB. And we go get it. We go win games together. That's the biggest thing is winning games together because I can't win a game by myself.
Keenan Allen can't win a game by himself. And so making sure that we're all together, offense, defense, special teams. And we go get it. I'm just here. I'm here for the controversies. I'm here for the post games. I mean, this guy would skip post games. This guy would go cry to mommy.
This guy would, you know, put derogatory messages on his nails with his nail polish. Like I'm here for it all. I need to see. How he's going to perform in the NFL. I think he'll be fine. I hope he'll be fine.
And if he's not. That is fun for me. More to talk about. Eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven.
That's eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. There are obviously more than six rookies that I want to see. Who the hell do you want to watch?
Who's going to capture your attention this upcoming season? Let's get to the phone lines. Let's talk to Lee calling from Cincinnati. You're on the J.R. Sportbree show.
What's up, Lee? Hey, J.R., thanks for taking my call. Let me start off by saying first of all, I want to say thank you very much to all the kudos you give to truck drivers.
That's what I do. Thank you very much, sir. Really appreciate it. Sure. What's up?
But the second thing I want to say is and please hear me out because I really mean this wholeheartedly. I don't know how Caleb is going to do. I don't think he's going to do anywhere near as well as he did in college because it doesn't sound stupid.
It has to do morality. Number 13. That's what he wore in college. But that's not what he's going to be able to wear in the pros. I'm telling you from personal experience, man, because I was a pitcher who got through nothing but bus bombs up there. OK, in high school and in college. But I'm still the record books in high school. And I'm in the record books at the junior college I went to because I was able to wear the number 13. OK, after 34 years, I'm still in the record books in one loss and with your eight.
But everything I served up, I just had a great deal. Oh, wait, well, hold on. Hold on. Let's let's cut to the chase here, Lee. God bless your records.
I'm glad they still stand. Are you telling me and just give me a yes or no. Caleb Williams is going to suck because he's not going to win number 13.
Yes, because that's an armor. I'm going to tell you right now, because number 13, I know and I never believed it till I was 14 years old. And that's when I was actually that's actually became a great pitcher and I was well beyond what my talent should have been.
And like I said, then I went to the four year school, didn't have a number 13. I couldn't get anybody out. Here's another question, Lee. Will you walk underneath the ladder? Never. Will you will you open up an umbrella inside? No, I will not.
I will not step on a crack ever when I'm walking down the sidewalk. OK, no. All right. OK, well, thank you, Lee. I appreciate you for calling from Cincinnati. Thank you, man.
Thank you for taking me. Absolutely. What the hell? What else I must say to that? You're superstitious or you're not.
What am I? They got nothing to do with me. Right. I can't say anything. I don't know if there's just the fact he's wearing number 18, by the way. Oh, picky.
That is that's what what do I say to that? He just the man just said that Caleb Williams is going to suck. Because he's not going to be able to wear the number 13.
I thought it was the other way around for a long part. Like I thought 13 was unlucky. You know, Friday the 13th. There's no 13th floor. Right.
Right. I'm not I'm not superstitious. I don't care. I'm stepping on cracks.
Open up umbrellas inside. I'm walking underneath the ladders. I don't care about numbers. I don't care about you. You care about that stuff. You superstitious. No, no. You have to think about it.
Well, like. I guess when I was. No, no, no, no, I'm not.
Not anymore. I'm not superstitious. OK. I don't care.
I don't care about this. You put a ladder out. I will do the. I don't know. Pick a dance.
I'll do every dance underneath that ladder. Back and forth. Don't care. Don't care. But Lee from Cincinnati does. Now, Lee, if Caleb Williams has a great career, then what?
Does that change your outlook on life or is it still the same? We'll find out. Eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven.
That's eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. We're talking about rookies that you are most interested in seeing this upcoming NFL season. Tristan is calling from Tennessee. You're on the JR sport reshow. I don't know. Excellent. How are you? Doing good. I just got to see what you think about this.
Yeah. Got an unpopular opinion. My I'm a big defensive guy, so my I'm really excited to watch Peyton Wilson up at Pittsburgh. The linebacker.
Yes, I got I got no opinion on that. It's I mean, our linebackers exciting. I know he was one of the best, but.
Yeah, right. Yeah, he's always flying around and hitting people hard. I'm all the big defensive guy growing up, so that's really exciting for me.
I'm excited to see how big of an impact he can make on the people. Well, I understand that. What's exciting for you might not be exciting for others. I mean, look, if I think about some of the top defensive players, being that I'm here in Georgia, I got no problem telling you that I was pretty sad when a guy like Dallas Turner didn't end up a member of the Falcons. But when he go up in Minnesota.
So, yeah, I get you shut out. So all my folks at North Carolina State, they treat me good. So and the Steelers always known for defense. So you might be watching him for the next 10 years. I hope so. He's a he looks like he's going to be, you know, make a big impact for that team. And so I'm excited to say, are you are you are you a Peyton? Are you a Peyton Wilson fan? Are you a Steelers fan? Which one is it? I'm a Steelers fan.
My grandfather and my dad, I always grew up watching it with them. Are you excited to see Russell Wilson and his press conferences? So I got a weird opinion about that, too. So I don't know if he's going to make it through the entire season as a starter. I'd say probably will. But I'm kind of curious if he'll make it over. Justin Fields will take over. It will be a lot of fun. Win, lose or draw.
Russell Wilson will provide the entertainment and Justin Fields will look miserable on the sidelines. So have fun, Tristan. OK. I appreciate the comment. My man. Shout out to Tristan for calling from Tennessee eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven.
That's eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. Rick is calling from Virginia on the J.R. Sportby show. Rick, what rookie do you want to see? J.R. J.R., what's happening, brother?
Love your show. Thanks for taking my call. But you're really hurting my feelings, man. Where is Marvin Harrison on your list, buddy? Well, he's he's not the most exciting story. I mean, would anybody would anybody be shocked if Marvin Harrison Jr. woke up, rolled out of bed and had 1000 yards and 10 touchdowns?
No, I don't think so. So, I mean, I expect it when I put together when I when I put together this list, top six NFL rookies to watch. I think I have a good idea what he's going to do. Like there's nothing there's there's no big story surrounding it. And he doesn't have much of a personality. He's almost like his dad. Like it's nothing.
There's nothing intriguing. I'm sure he'll make amazing catches and whatnot. And you'll probably save the ass of Kyler Murray. But Keon Coleman with the book, with the bills, with the bills, seems to be a little bit more interesting, given his personality and the hole he's expected to fill. Xavier Worthy, we might and will likely see him in the playoffs.
What is he going to do on a championship contending team? Malik Nabors, to me, is more interesting of a story, because separate from from Kyler Murray, Kyler Murray's not going anywhere. Malik Nabors is playing with a quarterback who needs to prove he can throw the ball or he will have no job. JJ McCarthy. What is JJ McCarthy going to do when he's tasked to actually throw the ball? Jaden Daniels selected number two overall. He won the Heisman and then Caleb Williams, self-explanatory. And so, look, we know Marvin Harrison is good.
We know he's great. But where's where's the juice? Where's the story?
Where's the intrigue? Yeah, I understand. I'm just a big guy. I guess I'm biased because I'm an Ohio State fan. My dad played for Ohio State for a couple of years.
Probably just biased. But I am interested to see what he does. All the guys you got on your list. Oh, heck yeah. Heck yeah. Thank you for taking my call, JR. Good luck to you. No doubt, Rick. Thank you for calling from Virginia. Thank you so much.
855-212-4227. You know what? Hickey, is there a rookie that you really want to see? Your quarterback that didn't play last year. Anthony Richards.
This is college. He'd have a nice little red shirt under his belt. He would.
Go ahead. I will go with a quarterback that has not been mentioned yet, which I'm a little surprised by. Who is it? I'm excited to see Bo Nix.
Oh, my God. I'm still a believer in Sean Payton being a good coach. And at least on paper, how it seems, what Sean Payton wants from a quarterback is what Bo Nix has. Accurate, quick release, you know, gets the ball out fast, quick decision maker. So like the fit should be good.
I'm excited to see or, you know, intrigued to see how it actually does now in reality, where I feel like on paper it looks better than maybe anything people are looking at on the surface. I want to see Sean Payton make him cry. That's what I want. How long?
And you know what? How long is it going to be until we see him play? Because isn't Stidham getting the start in front of him, right? Of course he is.
I mean, Bo Nix is like 30 years old. How much more seasoning does he need? Come on. Well, three starts or two from Stidham. Two or three starts. Which one?
Zero, please. At that point, why? Same with the Vikings. If you're going to just start that for two, three, four games, what's the point? Just put them in week one at that point. Well, you want to have that, you know, you got to earn the job. You got to have the confidence of the team. You can't just hand somebody a job.
Don't work that way. Hey, Bears handed Caleb Williams a job. Well, he was taking number one overall. If Bo Nix was so good, he would have been gone later or sooner, I should say.
We'll see. 855-212-4227. That's 855-212-4227. Ben is calling from Buffalo. You're on the JR Sportbreeze show. Who do you want to see, Ben? Oh, hi, JR. How are you? I really liked what you had on your top six list.
Yes, thank you. I just want to talk about Blake Corum for the L.A. Rams. Yeah, go for it. You're here.
Go for it. Kyron Williams, he has a lot of a little bit of an injury history. And also, I could see Blake Corum getting like some of the goal Ryan carries and that might be able to expand his role. And even if maybe maybe Kyron Williams gets injured a little bit, maybe just like a little minor injury, maybe he'll fill in a bit, maybe he'll perform really well and I agree. Possibly get a better role in the offense.
No, absolutely. You talk about Kyron Williams, it wouldn't shock me. Blake Corum is certainly going to get action, especially for a Los Angeles Rams team that I think. Yeah, they're going to try to save Matthew Stafford in that arm a little bit. Yeah, Puka Nakua and Cooper Cupp are going to get the majority of the offensive action.
But Kyron Williams and Blake Corum, we know he's going to get some burn. Hey, Ben, thank you so much for calling from Buffalo. Hey, thanks for having me. I love your show and have a good night. You as well, Ben. My man, call anytime. It's the J.R. sport re-show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network, 855-212-4227.

Mark was not quick. Nelson is calling from San Diego. You're on the J.R. sport brief show. Hey J.R., how are you doing, man? I'm amazing. Go ahead.
Give me the guy you want to see the most. I want to see, hey, I want Patrick to throw that ball to worthy and let him run down to the goal line and score those big touchdowns and get all excited about the Chiefs again. OK. For the third time in a row. Yeah. Well, I think that you're. Wait, wait, wait.
You're in San Diego. You're a Chiefs fan. Yes, sir.
OK. Why? Well, I was I used to live in Dallas and I wasn't a Jerry fan. Ah, well, you were you weren't a fan of Jerry because he came in and fired people. No.
Well, he let go the guy that really sent him to the to the promised land. That's my problem. So you used to be a Cowboys fan and then you just switched to the Chiefs. Yes, sir.
Because my wife, my wife went to the same university that Patrick Mahones went to. Oh, OK. All right, Nelson. I can dig it, man.
Well, thank you so much, Mr. Red Raider. OK. OK. All right. Take it easy.
Nothing. Nelson for calling from San Diego. Eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. Jonathan is calling from Baltimore. You're on the J.R. sport re-show NFL rookie. You want to see the most this year, Jonathan?
Go ahead. Nate Wiggins. You know, I'm a Baltimore Ravens fan.
Our secondary tends to get beat a lot more than often. I just want to see if he's going to help Kyle Hamilton and the rest of the defense. I just want to see if he shows up. OK. You got you got picked in the first round. I know he's supposed to be a speedster, but he's short.
So how is he going to stand up to all the taller receivers? All right, John. Well, you got a guy.
He's from right here in Atlanta, Georgia. So take that as a as a positive. OK, Jonathan. All right. Have a good one.
All right. Thank you, Jonathan, for calling from Baltimore. Eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. That's eight five five two one two.
Forty two twenty seven. Gabriel calling from Alabama. My next door neighbor on the J.R. sport show. Hey, Gabriel, you're live on the radio.
Going once, going twice. He fell into a ditch. John is calling from Pennsylvania. What's up, John? Hey, J.R., how you doing? Excellent.
What's up? Tell me the player you want to see the most this year. I want to see basically the guy that the Steelers have been missing since Ryan sincere went down. And I'm going to agree with a caller a little while ago with Peyton Wilson.
OK, that makes two of you. Well, thank you. They've had so many issues as far as being able to cover tight ends and back fields or backs coming out of the backfield. That speed and that ability to hit. If you don't allow teams across the 50. You're going to win a lot of games. OK, well, thank you, John, for calling from Pennsylvania.
I agree with you. Peyton Wilson, eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. Ralph is calling from North Carolina. You're on the J.R. sport show. I gave you my top six list of rookies that I want to see this season.
Who's the guy you really want to see, Ralph? Thank you very much for J.R. for having me on your show. First of all, I want to say I want to give myself a happy birthday for this year. Happy birthday to you.
Thank you very much, J.R. But so far, I'm looking for Drake May after basically the post Tom Brady era. I want to see what he has as a quarterback.
So it would be the last year quarterback. I'm looking for Drake May to see if he can actually do something for New England, even though it's not New England. I'm really looking to see that. All right. Well, thank you. Are you are you racing? What's that?
What's that in the background? Technically, I'm on an Uber right now. I'm heading home.
Just just celebrating my birthday. Just leaving Applebee's right now. Oh, did they give you did they give you a sizzling something at Applebee's or something sizzling?
They give you something sizzling. I didn't ask for it. Did you tell the people at Applebee's know it was your birthday? I did at the end. She told me she was going to give me some ice cream. Did you get some? Did you get some? So you got free ice cream? Well, I declined the ice cream, that's all. OK.
They didn't come out and clap and sing and stuff? Well, happy birthday to you. OK.
Many more to you. Thank you very much. Have a good night. You as well, my man. Happy birthday. You got you know, you got it. If it's your birthday at Applebee's, they got to come out singing and dancing.
Hickey, what do they do? I don't remember. They like 20 of them come out, right? There's like four or five coming clapping.
I don't know that like the happy birthday song per se, but I think you're spot on with like they make it a little bit of a spectacle. Aren't they supposed to put like a sizzling candle in something? I don't know. It's been a while. I don't know either.
I don't know. That'd be nice. Nice little touch. Happy birthday to Ralph. You got to enjoy birthdays while you have them when they come around. Happy birthday, Ralph. Much love to you. I'm happy to have spent part of your birthday with me. But that doesn't sound right.
But you get what you get what I'm saying. I'm sorry. His birthday's about me now, right? Anyway, happy birthday to you.
I'm glad that you chose to spend part of your birthday here with us. That sounds better. Let's get another call in.
855-212-4227. Josh is here from San Diego. Josh, what player are you most interested in seeing? What rookie are you interested in seeing in 2024? Well, I'm actually a Vikings fan and I think that McCarthy is going to be a bust.
But when it comes to Michigan, Ben, I'm actually looking to see what Harbaugh does with the Chargers. He's not a rookie. He's not. He's not a rookie, man. A guy's a coach.
You've been around the block already. No, but he's going to be a first time coach. Josh. Oh, that ain't no rookie. Josh. Josh.
He ain't no rookie. Stop it. Stop it. Stop it. Stop it. Coming on making you can't make the rules. I'll make the rules here. Cut it out. You think J.J. McCarthy is going to suck?
That's fine. It's telling me that Jim Harbaugh is a rookie coach in his first rookie year with the chart. Get out of here. Not doing that. He's not even a player.
We're talking about players. Cut it out. It's the J.R. Sportbree show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. 855-212-4227. I'll try to get more of your calls in before we roll out. We're going to hear from Calum DeBoer. I told you we would. We will.
And of course, I'll share with you a few things that took place this day in sports history. Have you ever covered a carpet stain with a rug? Ignored a leaky faucet? Pretended your half painted living room is supposed to look that way?
Well, you're not alone. We've all got unfinished home projects. Whether it's a door that sticks or a disorganized closet or an AC unit that only works half the time.

Download Thumbtack and start a project today. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief. I've been taking your calls. And right now, you might have heard of Peter Schwartz with the news update a few minutes ago. And he talked about Kaitlyn Clark's final game here of the first half of the season. Because they're getting ready to go on a month's long Olympics break. And Kaitlyn Clark not going to the Olympics. Well, the Dallas Swings just beat the Fever, 1 on 1 to 93. And what a way for Kaitlyn Clark to end the first half of her year. Even though it's a loss. And even though she will be participating in this Saturday's NBA All-Star Game in Phoenix, Arizona. Listen to this.
This is nuts. Kaitlyn Clark finished tonight. A loss. 24 points. 19 assists.
Hickey, did I hear that correct? 19 assists is a WNBA single season record? You are right about that. Incredible. Would have been better if she got a W. But this is, I don't care if it's 24 and 19. Well, she would have, yeah, she would have been the first player with a 20-20 game. At least an assist. I don't know if, I don't know what the record is for rebounds, but a 20-20 game? Asia Wilson had one last week. That's right.
She did. What was it, like 24? 20 I think? Yeah. Two 20-20 games in two weeks would have been very impressive for the W. A 20-20 game in assists is nuts. That would be crazy. And she only, only turned the ball over six times.
Knowing how many turnovers, she's prone to a lot of them, but 19 assists. Damn. Wild stuff. Been a wild day. Wild day. You know, we've been talking so much SEC. We had Jason Mackey join us to talk Paul Skeans earlier on in the show.
It was just Hickey. We're running, there's so much we couldn't even listen to Kaitlyn DeBoer today. It was a jam pass. That's crazy. The Alabama coach got bumped. Usually in his debut you think that would be the lead story in most days.
Especially when it's busy, let alone, you know, what should have been or what you thought would be a dead day like today. Crazy how much this stuff comes in. Well, we did chat with Kennington Smith. He came through and we talked the Bama football for about, I don't feel like 30 minutes. You know what?
Let's hear Kaitlyn DeBoer before we get to a few things that took place this day in sports history. You know what? Nick Saban has been kind of sort of over his shoulder.
Not really. But he's appreciated the space. Take a listen to Caleb. First of all, I want him to always know that he's welcome. But I also appreciate that he has put forth the ultimate respect in trying to let us kind of establish who we are. Nick Saban has been staying the hell up on out the way.
Good. Even though Nick Saban, a couple of days ago, he pretty much told everybody on the SEC network, he ain't picking Alabama to be the best. He's looking at Georgia. He's looking at Texas to play in the SEC championship game. And so a few of the players on Alabama, they had some responses, some pretty funny ones. Listen to offensive lineman Tyler Booker says, I ain't listening to Saban. Well, something that Coach Saban taught us whenever we speak to the media is to not concern ourselves with external factors. And he doesn't work in a facility anymore. He works in the stadium.
So he's considered as an external factor. So I'm not really paying attention to him. Funny stuff.
Real funny stuff. What about Malachi Moore of the cornerback? He also said, I don't give a damn what Saban says. Man, got a little coach Saban, man.
No, but that is a cool opinion for him to have. You know, we just take it one day at a time and keep on working. Uh huh. What are you going to say?
It's your old boss. They walk by each other. They laugh and joke and giggle. Everything is really about what Kalen DeBoer does with his new squad.
8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27. Listen, if you're on the line, I'll get you on. Let's listen to a few things that took place this day in sports history.
And then I'll get to the calls and, you know, listen to what rookies that you want to see this season. Let's hit the fancy music that's about the things that took place on this day. You know what I mean? Back in the days when I was young, I'm not a kid anymore.
But some days I sit and wish I was a kid again. It's time for this day in sports history. Back in those days, we had radio and you couldn't see anything.
And it was primitive and lousy and we liked it. On the JR Sport Brief Show. I wish I was 50 years younger and I'd kick your ass. It is the JR Sport Brief Show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. Today is July 17th.
It's been that way all day. The year is 2024. But it's time to go back in time, because on July 17th in 1941, Joe DiMaggio's hit streak, it ended at 56. Sorry, if you remember that, congratulations. If you were there, remember it live. Congratulations.
Probably not. July 17th, 1974. Maybe some of you remember this because Bob Gibson, this man, became the second pitcher in Major League Baseball history to go out there and strike out 3000 men. Let's listen to this courtesy MLB. He stuck out Cesar Geronimo. Walter Johnson was the first dude to do it. Bob Gibson did it this day, July 17th, 1974.
Let's hit the fast forward button. Let's go from 1974 to the year 1994 because on July 17th, Brazil won their fourth World Cup over Italy. Let's listen to the penalty kick that sent them home courtesy of FIFA. Poor Roberto Baggio. Imagine missing a penalty kick in.
Well, I don't I don't want to imagine missing a penalty kick because that would really suck. July 17th. 2005. Man, time flies, doesn't it?
It's almost 20 years ago. Like a woods, this man won the British Open. Afterwards, he says, I might as well move here. This is the home. This is the real home of golf. It's a dream come true to win at the home of golf. I mean, this is as good as it gets for the open championship to be here and to have come out on top this year with me like that leaderboard going into today.
I mean, anything could have happened. And I was very fortunate. I hit the ball so good today. It was so much fun to control my ball like I did today and place it the way I did. And I guess the only thing I could have done is maybe aim left or right of the flag on six. Other than that, I felt pretty good. Yeah, let's see what he does this weekend. Not all that confident.
Eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. We got to get the callers in quick. Hickey, I was able to get everything done. How about that? Right.
Very time efficient. I try. I try my best. Kevin is calling from Toronto. You're on the JR Sportbree show. Kevin, what's on your mind? Hey, Kevin, where the hell are you?
I don't know. Gabriel is back from Alabama. This is a guy that fell into a ditch. Go ahead, Gabriel. Yeah, I'm good, man. I'm not in a ditch anymore. Good.
What's up? I just want to say, man, the rookie that everyone's sleeping on is definitely Ricky Pearsall out of Florida, going into San Francisco. Because, because, look, you're going to remember you're going to remember this pick and you're going to remember this phone call. The reason why Brandon has been wanting a trade out of San Francisco. Gabriel, I got to feel like nobody is sleeping on Ricky Pearsall. Everybody knows.
He hasn't been mentioned. Well, you're right. But on what? On what? On here? I've been listening all over the past over the past 30 minutes. Nobody is sleeping on him.
Everybody is well familiar. He's on a Super Bowl consending team. He's on a stacked team, which means one of two things.
One, we all understand. He's probably long for the future as he's on a rookie contract and a rookie deal to the San Francisco 49ers have so many weapons. He is not going to be the premier unless Brandon Aiyuk moves. And even if he is moved, we still know that there are plenty of guys on the depth chart.
Ricky Pearsall is certainly going to. He is certainly going to make noise, but nobody is sleeping on him given his circumstances. He's going to a stacked team. Nobody's sleeping on the guy.
That's what I'm saying. He's going to a stacked team. So he's guaranteed a big year. No, that's not the ball has to.
Gabriel, the ball has to be spread around. I mean, look, I would consider it a successful. I will consider it a successful year. A great year for him if he has, I don't know, 600 yards, 800 yards. Do I think that's going to happen?
I'm not so sure, especially if you especially if you could still there. My point to you is nobody is sleeping on the man. They may not even need him if they have him. He's a bonus. Thank you, Gabriel, for calling from Alabama.
We could have left you in the ditch. You all are sleeping on Rick. Nobody's sleeping on a guy. We know he's a future replacement that may play a lot. He may not play a lot. He may have a few spectacular plays.
We don't know what he's going to do, but nobody's sleeping on a guy. Curtis calling from California. Go ahead, Kirk. Quickly. J.R., good to hear from you again, man. I'm going to go get right to the point. I would love to see Rattler start in New Orleans and I'm basing it on an eye test.
Oh, boy. His junior year, third game for the last game of the year, they played Texas. He puts up a 60 spot on them. He makes almost every throw of a pro route tree in that game. And he scores on the ground. When does Derek Carr get hurt? I don't know. That's what he has to depend on, but that's not something you want to depend on here.
You don't? Well, you may or may not see him this year, Kirk. Kirk, the show's over. I got to talk to you later, OK?
Take it easy, J.R. It was good to talk to you. No, thank you so much. Thank you to Jason Mackey for joining us from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Thank you as well to our guests earlier in the show who came by. A lot of fun having a chat with Kennington Smith.
The J.R. Sportbree show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. It's done. We'll be back at 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific tomorrow. You'll be safe. Be cool. Be well.
