It is the JR Sport Brief Show on the Infinity Sports Network. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you to everybody tuned in all over North America. Happy Monday to you. Hope you had a tremendous weekend. Hope you had a good Monday.
Hope you're having a great Monday afternoon, a great Monday evening, all of the things. I'll be hanging out with you for the next three hours. I'm being joined by super producer and host Ryan Hickey. He's in New York City. I'm in Atlanta, Georgia.
Man, we've talked some draft, talked some NBA. If you've missed a minute or a second of the show, go ahead and hit rewind on the free Odyssey app. We get started at 6 Eastern, 3 Pacific. You can listen on the Odyssey app. Thank you for listening live on your local Infinity Sports Network affiliate. If you got Sirius XM, it's channel 375.
If you got yourself a smart speaker, ask the speaker to play the Infinity Sports Network. So yes, we've talked about Chador. We heard from angry Brandon Bean. He was on the radio today defending his draft picks for the Buffalo Bills.
He's like, the hell you want me to do? We score a lot of points. The defense needed help.
Give me a break. We talked about Damian Lillard. Tore his Achilles yesterday, out for the season, the rest of the season with the Milwaukee Bucks. Damian Lillard, he might be done with the Bucks. Damn it, I think the Bucks as we know it, competing for championships, I think they are done.
The Lakers look to be cooked as well, down three to one against the Los Angeles Lakers. How about this? In about 20 minutes, we're going to have a chat with Chad Ryder from the NFL. Covers all things football, NFL.com. He actually put together a draft ratings.
He went ahead and graded every single team, what they did in the draft, what they needed to do better at. So I have a conversation with Chad Ryder in about 20 minutes from now and next hour to talk specifically about what the hell is going on in Cleveland, Ohio with the Browns. All 300 of the quarterbacks that they now have, we'll have a chat with Mary Kay Cabot, who covers the Browns for Cleveland.com. So that'll be a fun conversation.
Wild weekend as well. Bill Belichick had a cringe-worthy interview with CBS mornings that just kind of went viral. So we got a lot to get into, a lot to talk about. You want to be a part of the show, you can. 888-710-4ISN.
That's 888-710-4ISN. I do want to highlight a few of the other more minor stories, if I can call them minor, over the weekend as Chador continued the fall. But outside of Chador Sanders going viral, is he getting picked? Did he not get picked? Did he get prank called? Hickey, I know you had that scene, this viral question.
Where it originated, I have no idea. But people were debating all weekend long whether or not one gorilla could beat up 100 men. Excuse me, could 100 men beat a gorilla up? And I said, this is what people are arguing about on the internet?
This is what we're doing now? Oh yeah, these are the important debates we have to have and I would say need to settle. We need to settle whether or not 100 men could beat up a gorilla. There's only one way to find out, right? Can we pick the 100 men that go in there?
You get the first pick. I guess so. Yeah, I have some ideas.
I'll keep it to myself. Now, somebody's going to make a movie about this now, aren't they, huh? Wait, does this movie exist, Planet of the Apes?
We've had about 20 editions of it. I was just about to say, I haven't seen one of them, but isn't that sort of the premise of Planet of the Apes? I guess minus, you know, direct fighting of 100 humans and one gorilla. Right. See, what we need to do is we take 100 men and we put them in a gorilla enclosure, whatever these gorillas live in these places, and we just put them in there and we see what happens.
Right? I mean, everybody's talking about fighting a gorilla, but if we put 100 men in a gorilla enclosure, I don't know how much space that is. I feel like these gorillas have got more space than I do. Can we not just figure it out that way?
The only tweak I would say is I think we need like a wild gorilla. Oh, no. Oh, there's a difference?
Yeah, I'm assuming so. There's a difference between the gorilla. Oh my God. Hickey, remember Harambe? Was that Harambe? Oh, yeah. Oh, but do I remember? That was a cultural phenomenon. Is that the one where the little kid got dropped in the gorilla enclosure?
That's correct. And then they killed the gorilla because there's like a three year old kid in there and they go, well. Thank God the little kid lived. I remember he dragged that little boy with like nothing. He grabbed that little boy like I would flick an ant off of a table and he dragged him from one end to the other.
And it's like, oh my God. And there was a real debate. Were they right in killing the gorilla? Here we go. Hickey, remember Peter wrote us a nice email a couple of months ago, maybe last year?
That's right. I'm going to get a nasty email from Peter now. OK, you ready for this? Oh, it should have killed the gorilla. Is that the wrong thing to say?
I think it's the right thing. Three year old or gorilla? I'm sorry.
The gorilla got to go. I agree. Now, the parents are dumb.
I mean, I'm not. Let's let's call a spade a spade. The parents are dumbasses. How your kid falls into a gorilla enclosure, I have no idea. I also, without remembering the details, the zoo has to have some type of, you know, culpability there as well. Parents, the zoo and then the gorilla, the poor gorilla is the one who has to pay for it.
It's a it's a shame. Anyway, you think there's a difference between a wild gorilla and the one in an enclosure? I do think if you're a gorilla, it's been there 10 years in an enclosure. There's no one encroaching on your space. You don't have to defend your territory.
No one's taking your food. In the wild, it's a lot rougher. So I think you become even though it's natural to be an animal right in you, I think you do become more docile based on the surroundings that, you know, you're living with versus you go out to the wild. We go in the, you know, in the jungle, the Congo and all of a sudden there's, you know, the king gorilla who's who's running kind of that area. That guy's been through some things. Now he's fought a few gorillas off to maintain dominance in that territory. That gorilla and the gorilla in the enclosure, I think two different ones. We got to we got to drop 100 men into the Congo.
That's right. And so I'm figure it out. Oh, he's busting ass, man. He's busting everybody's ass. OK, it's at what point, though, we talk like a numbers game.
You know, somebody going to grab him from behind? Like it's 100 men. What did they storm him? One versus 100. Yeah, 100 men storm is that you see that's not even possible.
Like, what do you do? Like, so how many men have to die? Because a lot of men are dying out of 100 percent. You're not coming out here with 100 men. Twenty five to 50.
I'd probably say at least 20. You got to tell him out 20. Somebody has to go. Somebody has to go.
I'm going for his leg. Somebody has to go punch in the back of the head. Like you got to have you got to have 20 guys, like even 20 guys storming a gorilla. It's too many. All right.
You got to start with realistically how many people can swarm a gorilla, five to 10? Yeah. And then I think, OK, the girl is distracted.
Someone comes from behind, puts him in a rear naked choke. And now I think you're you're in business. Do they have next?
You've seen them things? I don't think you can get in. You can't wrap arm around. You're probably right. But you have like three guys on his left arm.
Somebody has on his right arm. No, bro. No, no. Somebody has him down.
No, you can't. Somebody has to gouge him in eyes. Yeah, yeah, I agree. Look, it has even at that point, I think he's probably going he's going eighth. You know what? He's losing it at that point. I would agree.
I think you have to go into it. The mindset of we are not all coming out alive, brah. Three men, three men on one arm is not holding down a gorilla. Come on. I, I would disagree. Do you know how strong those things are? Very, but three men on one arm, three men on another arm, probably five men each, I'd say on on on the legs, because those quads are pretty big, brah. Silverback gorillas, the dominant males can lift up to 10 times their body weight. OK, they are believed to be around six to nine times stronger than the strongest human male.
Hickey, let's take Mark Henry, OK, in his prime. Let's take one of these power lifter guys, these guys who is six, nine and 400 pounds and they are lifting up cars just for like 10 seconds, five seconds. And these are the strongest human beings on Earth. I can lift up a car for five seconds and drop it.
Now, imagine something being six to nine times stronger than that. What? What? I get it. It's a numbers game at some point. The gorilla is going to get tired. They can also lift and throw 1800 pounds. It's not look, I'm not saying there's a reason why this is even a thought, right? It's not like, oh, one man versus one gorilla.
No, that person is going to die in two seconds. It has to be a coordinated team effort. We need an offensive coordinator here to see who's going to attack a silverback gorilla can lift a 4000 pounds on a bench press. I mean, OK, how do we know that?
I'm guessing, I mean, were you putting them on the bench and say, OK, let's go, you know, maybe we should do that first time out and then we just go beat them up. We got to there's only one way to figure this out, Hickey, we got to go on safari, OK? You go ahead, ask the gorilla, ask him. You can use your words. I'm sure he doesn't speak English.
Just look him in the eyes and ask him, OK, how much? Yeah, tell me how it ends up for you. I don't know if it's going to end up good for you. Well, those safari trucks have the cages on them for a reason. I'm not leaving the cage. Bruh, he may rip that cage apart, man.
You also probably are not wrong. Yeah, well, these are the big debates over the course of the weekend. Why did Chador fall in the draft? How many men will it take to beat up a gorilla? Damian Lillard tore his Achilles. Hickey, could you imagine if, well, never mind.
Never mind, get out of that. Anyway, speaking of injuries and hey, bench press, you want to know somebody not doing a bench press, Hickey? Who's that? Derek Carr. And he's a quarterback. What does he need to do a bench press for?
There's no reason. Anyway, Derek Carr, and this is going to be this is a first for me, OK? Derek Carr, we're making this report, Derek Carr was at church over the weekend. I never thought that we'd get a news item coming out of church.
I guess it's better than some of the crap that we get a lot of times. But Derek Carr was he's at a service in Las Vegas and he was at church and he was speaking and I guess delivering a testimony. And at one point in time, he gave an update on his current status as quarterback of the Saints.
Not something I'd expect to hear at church, but. We got it and we got this report that he may be out for the entire season with a shoulder issue. We saw that the Saints decided the draft shuck out of the draft instead of getting Chidor Sanders. They got a new head coach in Kellen Moore. And Derek Carr has a busted up shoulder and has a contract that they want to get rid of. He doesn't want to be there.
They don't want him. They're just stuck together. Listen to Derek Carr. I'll say it again.
At church. Yes, I have a shoulder injury, despite what ESPN says and what some lady on a podcast might think. OK, I have an MRI report to prove it. The team knows about it. We've been in constant communication. There's nothing wrong. We're figuring it out and we're going to go forward with that.
Is that OK? I thought that was the whole news. Hickey, did I miss something like everything that he said? I feel is what has been reported for the past several weeks. Just he's injured. They don't know if he's going to play. They have no idea.
And that's the news. What's he complaining about? I guess the only thing you could think is that he is upset that there's some reports or thought that he's faking it. Oh, as a way to get out of New Orleans.
For what? He's not he's not that he's not a bum. I mean, come on.
That's weak. Do you think he's faking it? No, I don't.
I buy these reports. I think it's actually a worse look if you fake an injury, then leave. I'm not sure what teams would want to bring you in. So I think it would be a really soft look and bad look for him to do that. So, no, I think it's real. I don't expect him to see him in 2025. But I guess that was, you know, what bothered him the most is people thought he was trying to snake his way out in New Orleans. And maybe this is the only idea he had in his head to force his way out was, oh, wow, my shoulder hurts. I'm injured.
I can't play. Yeah, that's that's weak sauce, man. About the dude is just he's a he's a good to solid quarterback. You got a busted up arm. They don't want him.
Yeah, just just what it is. Now, what they do at QB are still in my very concerned. Spencer Rattler may legitimately get some chances and opportunities here.
A Tyler Shuck. He might get a chance after being draft out of Louisville. And, you know, somebody brought up the fact that just maybe maybe the Saints could acquire Kirk Cousins. I don't see that happening.
Come on now. And by the way, Kirk Cousins not traded over the weekend. Kirk Cousins, still a member of the Atlanta Falcons. That's not to say he'll be here all the way through training camp and not eventually get moved elsewhere. You know, maybe he goes to Pittsburgh if things don't work out with Aaron Rodgers.
We don't know. Pittsburgh Steelers, by the way, didn't get a chance to. Well, they had a chance, but they did not select Jalen Milro. Pittsburgh Steelers decided to go in another direction and add Will Howard, who just won the championship with the Ohio State University.
So there's a lot of interesting things that that took place over the weekend outside of what took place with Chador. Obviously, we had the Travis Hunter trade on on night number one to open things up. We had that Falcons trade where they can pick up James Pierce, giving up their first rounder for next year. The Bucks saying, hey, why the hell not? Let's just add another wide receiver and Ibuka speaking about Ohio State.
And we had all them prank calls. You know what? We're going to take a break. We'll get into a little bit more details on some of the other news that took place. And then on the other side of the break, immediately, we're going to have a chat with Chad Ryder. He covers all things NFL for NFL.com. I'm going to get his thoughts on what some of these teams did in the NFL Draft. We'll get some responses and reactions to Brandon Bean complaining about people complaining about him not getting a wide receiver.
So we got a lot to do. Chad Ryder from the NFL.com or NFL.com. He's joining us on the other side. It's the J.R. Sport Brief show coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. You are listening to the J.R. Sport Brief. It is the J.R.
Sport Brief show on the Infinity Sports Network. The NFL Draft is over. Now we wait until training camp and rookie, well, rookie minicamp and training camp and OTAs and preseason games. And before you know it, I'm not trying to hit the fast forward button. We'll be at week one. Yeah, time flies.
But let's not go ahead and rush the summer. Let's take a look at what took place over the weekend. Right now, we're being joined by someone who covers all things NFL. We're going to be joined by someone who is a draft analyst covering the league for the NFL on NFL.com. We're being joined by right now by Chad Ryder. Chad, how are you? Oh, I'm fantastic. Thanks.
Good to have you on. I know certainly a very, very busy weekend. You know, I saw your list and went through your rankings and your grades of these teams that have gone through the draft process. What team are you surprised by the most over the course of these, you know, two and three days? Surprise. You know, it's funny.
I study this stuff so much. Like, I don't get surprised very often anymore, honestly. It's funny. But I will be I will say that it is nice to be somewhat surprised in terms of the Raiders doing the right thing throughout the throughout the draft process.
Right. It's been a while since we've had pretty solid draft about a lot of strange things happening with the Raiders. And so jobs by tech took over there and did a fantastic job in this draft, getting guys the positions they need of good value. A.S. and Jenny is going to be fantastic for them.
And and it's interesting. They picked both quarterbacks that played in the FCS championship game this last year. One of them is going to be a quarterback. Cam Miller and the other Tommy Bloch is going to be going to try his hand at receiver.
So that was that was kind of interesting. Yeah, you think about what the Raiders were able to do a complete revamp here from from spy tech and also Tom Brady. How much influence do you think he had here over this recent draft? We know spy tech is a GM, but how much influence do you think Tom Brady has had in this process?
Oh, I don't think a lot. I think he's brought in if, you know, Mark Davis, you know, has questions. But I think that's really more about how the franchise operates, generally speaking, and not necessarily about the draft and player evaluations. I wouldn't be shocked if, you know, Brady, you know, mentioned he liked this player, another player.
But in the end, I think it's spy tech and his crew and then the coaches that really have say in that stuff. Chad Ryder is here with us from NFL.com. When you think about one of the big moves that we got right out of the gate, obviously, the Browns saying, no, thanks, we don't want to be here. Number two, the Jacksonville Jaguars and moving up to select Travis Hunter. What are your thoughts on the trade compensation that that it took to get that deal done to get Travis down into Jacksonville with the Browns gave up? Well, I think I think Cleveland's going to regret that decision in the end. I mean, they got a future first for that.
And you know, good for them. And maybe the second round pick, but we've seen this movie before with Julio Jones. And that didn't work out great for Cleveland. And so they'd better make the most out of the picks that they get. I thought that I probably would have, you know, asked for more in that situation to give up a guy like Travis Hunter. And because frankly, he was the best player at two different positions in this draft.
And that just doesn't happen very often. Now, to be fair, the Browns got a very good player in Mason Graham at number five. And so they ended up with a top five select, you know, talent out of the deal.
But in the end, I think they didn't get enough for for what they gave up. Well, is another conversation to be had about another trade that took place in the course of the draft. You look at the New York Giants saying, hey, we want to move up to go get Jackson Dart.
What are your thoughts on on that? Picking up another guy? Well, I think the Giants were always going to pick a quarterback. And I actually had the Jets moving in my first mock draft a couple months ago, the Jets moving into the bottom of the first to take to take Dart.
So I was kind of expecting that if he didn't go a little higher. But, you know, Russell Wilson and Jamis Winston are not long term solutions at that position. And certainly the Giants haven't had a very good quarterback room for a while now. So getting multiple veterans and a young guy in there seemed to make a lot of sense. NFL.com NFL draft analyst Chad Ryder here with us on the J.R. Sportbrief show here in Atlanta, Georgia. A lot of people look at bringing on Pierce from from Tennessee as doing a little too much, giving up a first round pick next year.
Falcons haven't had a double digit guy hit sacks in almost 2016. What are your thoughts on what they gave up to kind of give a bookend with him and Walker? Well, they did give up a first round pick, which I thought was too much for Pierce. I was not a big fan of his tape this year, Morris build or some of the, you know, attitude things that I had heard about, but they did get a third round pick back. And so that kind of mitigated the risk a bit of giving up the third rounder. But but I think it's still too much. I think I would have waited to see if I could have got him. If you trade up in the first round or excuse me, in the second round to go get him and don't give up as much. That's one thing. But I thought the price was too high to pay. And frankly, I think there were some guys, some address available in the second round.
They were just as good, if not better. Well, Chad, back to the the offense. You know, we talked about the Browns and what they gave up. Hopefully they don't regret moving on from Hunter. You think about all the quarterbacks that they've added, both from Dylan Gabriel to Shadore Sanders. How do you think that that quarterback room is going to play out between the draftees, the Kenny Picketts, the old guys, the Flakos, the injured? How do you think this is going to play out over the next, I don't know, eight months? I think that that ticket will probably be the odd man out in the end is my guess.
Cause they, they, they, they know what they're getting in Dylan Gabriel. So he's going to be the future backup for the Browns. So it's going to be, my guess is that Flacco will, will take over as the starter at the start of the year and Sanders will come in at some point. If the season starts to go sideways, um, Sanders will come in and Gabriel gets some, some playing time. But I think those will be the three that end up coming out of camp. And I think by the end of the year, Sanders will be starting and how well he plays determines, you know, what they're going to do with the Sean Watson and how they're going to handle next year's draft.
NFL.com. Chad Reiter is here with us on the JR support reef show. We had another name that was bandied about the Jill and Milro going out to Seattle. We know Sam Donald just got that 100 plus million dollar contract, Drew Locke on the team as well.
How does Murrow fit into that situation? This is a slow build for him, correct? Well, I think, um, I think it'll be faster than people think in the end. Um, you know, Drew Locke has had a couple of opportunities in his career and he's not been able to just get over that hump. And I think as long as the Miller row shows enough, um, improvement in the passing game and the short and intermediate passing game and takes advantage of his, you know, athleticism as a runner, he can throw a nice deep ball. So I'm sure we're going to see some of those in the preseason, but as long as he can make some progress, um, in other parts of his game, I think he'll be the number two guy. Um, and, and, um, you know, uh, Donald will be the number one. And again, Donald's contract is not a long-term deal by any stretch.
So, uh, it's going to be a real competition this year and it we'll see, you know, who ends up playing a lot depending how the season goes. Well, Seattle certainly knows what options that they have. You think about the Pittsburgh Steelers, they were able to add wool Howard in the sixth round. You just won a championship with Ohio state and they're still waiting on Aaron Rogers.
What do you think is the most likeliest of scenarios when it comes down to Pittsburgh in a steel city? Yeah, I think Rogers will sign with them. Um, he's really out of choices, so he's either going to sign with them or he's not going to play most likely. And, um, uh, so I think he'll end up signing with them and, uh, and Howard won't be a starter. You know, he Mason Rudolph's going to be the backup because he has the experience. He knows Pittsburgh and, and Howard will probably stick as a third.
Um, uh, he's got to improve his passing consistency, um, uh, in the deep ball, he's not great at it. And if he doesn't do that, we'll see if he makes the roster. But if he shows something, then they'll keep them as a three and see if he can become that, that backup the next year. If, um, you know, Rogers will obviously probably only come on a one year deal. So they may be shopping for a quarterback next year, but that quarterback's going to be a starter. And Howard will probably take over as a backup, uh, if he's able to improve his game a little bit. NFL.com draft analyst, Chad writer here with us on the JR sport reef show, man, it's been so much talk about Chidora, this and Chidora dad. It was a three day process, a cam ward being selected.
Number one overall was, was basically a formality. How do you think he's going to perform in his first year in Tennessee? I think he's gonna be really good. Uh, I see him as sort of a cross between Jay, Jayden Daniels and bull nicks, a guy that can make throw some pocket changes, arm angles. He's got some mobility.
He's a quiet leader, confident leader. Uh, and I think he's going to be a real playmaker and look, he makes mistakes that a lot of playmakers still make. I mean, Patrick, my homes is still throwing across his body and we'll make some bad decisions at times, but he also makes a heck of a lot of plays.
And I think you're gonna, you're gonna see that from, from ward as well. I had ward going to Tennessee at number one, right after the super bowl. Um, a lot of people didn't cause they didn't feel he's that good of value.
I did. Um, he was the only guy that could have kicked off Travis Hunter out of that number one spot, I think. So I'm really excited to see him, uh, playing with the Titans. Who were, who were, I guess, one and two from an offensive and a defense perspective, who are the real impact players? Do you think that we'll hear about the most, uh, this upcoming NFL season from the rookies? Oh, I think Hunter, obviously, we're not, you're going to be up there.
Um, Abdul Carter is an easy one to say as well. I'm looking a little bit further down the line. I thought Tyler Warren was picked way too late at 14. Uh, I think he's going to be the Brock Bowers, um, story of this year, even though Colson Lovell were first, uh, going to the bears, which I understand from their point of view, why they did that. So I think he's going to be Walter Nolan from Arizona is going to be, is going to make a lot of plays as a rookie as well. Uh, even though he went a little bit later, as well, I think that was a mistake for teams to pass him up, um, that, that late in the process. So those are kind of two mid round guys that I think you're going to, or mood first round guys. I think you're going to hear a lot from, you know, Chad, it was certainly a shock when we heard that Tyler shock was going to be drafted by the new Orleans saints when he did get a selected, what is the saints plan? Is it between him and Rattler? I mean, the way it sounds, we may not see car at all.
Well, yeah. And frankly, uh, I wasn't sure we were going to see car much before this shoulder surgery because he wasn't playing that great. And eventually they're going to have to move on from him. But, uh, yeah, I think shook and, and Rattler are going to end up being the guys this year, um, unless, you know, car can make a miraculous recovery in some way, but they really want to look at these guys as, um, the future of the team. And, uh, since they're totally against picking first round quarterbacks for the rest of time, apparently, uh, you know, this was the way they get, they get the competition.
They need to see who can take over for car either this year or next. Well, Chad, let's, let's talk about the teams that went to the championship as we start to wrap up our conversation. How do you feel the Eagles and the chiefs did when it came down to the draft? And then on the back end, we also heard the Browns or excuse me, the bills, GM Brandon being not too happy with some of, uh, the comments made about his draft selections earlier today, too.
What do you think about the teams that are already competing for titles? Well, I, I thought the bills kind of reached a couple of times, but usually they do a really good job, but I wasn't a big fan for trading up for TJ Sanders and then trading up again for Deanne Walker, uh, in the fourth round. It didn't make a whole lot of sense to me either, but, you know, Kansas city, um, did a really good job as usual.
And it's no surprise. They, again, some of these defensive tackles that went on day two went a little higher than I expected. So Norman law at the end of the second round, we'll see what happens with them, but that that was a little high, but overall they did pretty well. Um, and Philadelphia again, uh, mostly good picks. I really liked the Campbell pick in the first round tie Robinson in the fourth round defensive tackle that kind of takes some of the, the, uh, you know, the, the play that Milton Williams had done at five technique for them was, was pretty good. Getting a guy like Kyle McCord from Syracuse in the sixth round, you can't ever have enough quarterbacks. Other teams should learn from the Eagles that you need to take these guys more often. Uh, and, and you know, even like a guy like Cameron Williams from Texas who fell down because he wasn't the best at tackle, but I wonder if they're going to shift him inside, like they did Makai Beckton last year.
I'm really curious to see if that's going to happen with him because he's got that build, um, to, to really be a strong guard. So, you know, that's something to watch out for. But overall, I didn't have any of those teams like in my highest grades, but they, they did okay considering that, you know, they're picking at the end of each round, which gets a little more difficult for those guys. Oh yeah. You got the, got some slim pickings there.
That's what happens when you, you do the winning in February. Hey Chad, thank you so much for the time. Where can people follow you and read all of your grades and fill us in? Well, you can find myself on, uh, my stuff on nfl.com.
I'm on the, uh, X Twitter at Chad underscore writer, R E U T E R. Hey Chad, thank you so much for the time. I hope you get a little bit of a break now, right? Well, a couple of days, I've got some stuff for 2026 draft lined up and I'm going to start in that, you know, probably next week. Okay. Come on now arch to the saints next year. Right? That's what I'm hoping for. Come on. Yeah. I mean, that's a distinct possibility, but don't rule out drew Eller from Penn state as that number one pick either.
I don't know where he would have went in this draft, but I think he's, I think he would have been first round and it's going to be a heck of a battle between those two, I think. All right. Let's let, let's see what he does on a, on a second go round. Hey Chad, thank you so much for the time. We'll catch you down the line. Okay. All right. Thanks a lot. No doubt about it.
It's the JR sport re show here with you on the infinity sports network. Hickey. I know you're happy about that one, huh? That was music to your ears, huh? Oh, big time.
Now, like you said, though, got to come through, got to convert here. Let's have a big 20, 25 that ends in a national title. Okay. What's Penn state going to do? Let's say a arbitrary, what, fifth seed this year, 60. I mean, elimination. This is not the Homer speaking.
So other people I've seen say, okay, they should go into 2025 preseason number one. Okay. Now what does that matter? Who cares?
They got the talent to win the national title this year. All right. Okay. We'll see. I don't know. I have no, I got to prove it. They got to do it. They got the talent for the first time in a long time. Okay. What's more likely that they win a national championship or I see that Nittany lion up on a mountain again. Well, I think that the Nittany lion unfortunately is extinct.
So national title, more likely. Ah, okay. Note, note taken, Hickey, note taken. This portion of the show is brought to you by Ethos Life. Not available in all estates. We're going to take a break. When we come back, we'll talk a little bit more about some of the, the other guys that were just selected in the draft guys, not named Shador. We're going to get more into the Browns and what their situation looks like. We'll give you some NBA as well. We got a lot. You were listening to the JR sport brief.
It is the JR sport re-show here on the infinity sports network. Thank you so much to Chad writer for coming through and joining us in the last break, taking a look at everything that took place in the NFL draft that didn't involve Shador, but maybe did like some of the other quarterbacks who were drafted like Jalen Milro, like Dylan Gabriel, who was in front of him, Will Howard, who is now a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers. And let's be real.
The Steelers are just waiting, just waiting on Aaron Rogers to pop up. And I guess he's going to want a better flowers laid out in front of him. When he shows up, he wants to be wined and dined. Just let's, let's get it over with, please. I need you to think O'Reilly auto parts for all of your car care needs.

That's 888-710-4ISN. Speaking of Will Howard and waiting to hear what happens with that guy, Aaron Rogers, Mike Tomlin had some words about the guy who just won a national championship and wasn't allowed to celebrate on the stage. If you recall, Will Howard won the national championship. They didn't let him get on the stage. Hickey, what did they say? The stage was too full. They couldn't let him up there. What was the deal?
That's right. I think it was a fire hazard. It was a fire hazard. Too many people on board already.
Sorry. Too many people on the stage. Will Howard not able to celebrate with his teammates. Mike Tomlin, and only way that he could describe, and he talked about what he loved most about Will Howard, who threw for 4,000 yards, 35 touchdowns, 10 interceptions, and was the second most accurate passer in college behind Shadore Sanders. Listen to Mike Tomlin tell them about it.
How he responded to that adversity at the end of their regular season and the leadership and playmaking that he displayed throughout the playoffs was really attractive. And it's really what NFL football is about. There's going to be some adversity.
How you respond to it defines you and your football team, particularly from the quarterback position. Yeah. All right. We all, it's all a waiting game. Who cares?
Right? I don't expect Will Howard to throw a pass this year for the Steelers. Unless Aaron Rogers gets hurt. Unless Mason Rudolph gets hurt. Then we'll see. Will Howard.
Don't expect a lot of snaps unless things really go south in a steel city. You know what? Let's actually hear from some more GMs and coaches about some of these decisions that they made. How about this one?
I had a chat or I briefly mentioned it. The Bucks bringing in Ibuka from Ohio State, speaking of Ohio State, like why the heck do the Bucks need another wide receiver? I get it. You got Mike Evans. He's entering into the final year of his deal. You got Chris Godwin who just blew out his leg. They still gave him a brand new contract. Maybe they don't trust one of these guys, whether it be due to age or injury or contractual status.
It seems reasonable to get Baker Mayfield a younger option. And so the GM for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Jason Light, on Thursday, he talked about what he loves oh so much about a Mecca Ibuka. Well, there's a lot to like about him. First of all, we didn't didn't have him in for a visit because there was there were no questions we had with him. Met with him at the combine and we know a lot about him just over the years. He's a true pro, mature beyond his years.
I mean, he's a perfectionist. He's been in a great program with a great wide receiver coach with a great in a great room. A lot of lineage there that he takes a lot of pride in. A lot to love about him.
And then on top of it, he's a he's a really good player. Yeah, he's basically going to replace one of these guys. Now, Mike, Mike Evans is not going anywhere. Like I just think they just gonna have three wide outs and then one day one of them will break down, maybe to be Godwin and then they'll keep it moving. But they're going to keep Mike Evans around until he decides to quit. Oh, yeah, he's an Iron Man, too. I mean, he plays for the most part, does not get hurt, comes back, produces a body type, right? Ibuka kind of looks more like Chris Godwin. So you'd imagine that's a more they have the eye on replacing him with Ibuka eventually. But yeah, until Mike Evans actually hangs it up or starts to slow down, I don't believe he's slowing down or will be replaced anytime soon.
Guys, a machine, another one thousand yards and 10 touchdowns for this guy on two bad hamstrings. Is he? I'm calling it now. I lost him.
Who am I? I can't sit here and say you're wrong. He's done his entire career.
I'm looking to bet against them. God just goes out there and balls out. He also does that against the Falcons.
Pretty, I don't want to say pretty easy to do. But a lot of people looked at Terry Fontenot. You got two guys that he certainly hopes can go out there and stop guys like Baker Mayfield here in the NFC South trading up to get James Pierce giving up a first round pick for next year. You already drafted Walker, another Bulldog.
And so Terry Fontenot, he's just like, yeah, I had no problem giving up that pick to bring in Pierce from Tennessee because I think he's going to be damn good. You have to weigh out what you're actually doing and what you're doing it for. And we look at the trade charts and all that stuff, but at some point you have to look at, okay, who's the player and what's going to be, what are we really getting and is it worth it? And that's what you really have to do at some point. And when you have that kind of conviction and belief in the player, then, and that's when you're willing to do it.
And we do, we have that kind of belief. Man, I'm not mad at the Falcons. Last guy they had get double digit sacks was Vic Beasley.
That was almost 10 years ago. How are we doing this in the modern NFL? If somebody doesn't go out there just by accident and do it on one year, you think about the fact that Grady Jarrett is also now in Chicago. Falcons didn't want to pay him a lot of money. He had to leave his hometown here in Atlanta and go up to the North just to get paid. Yeah, they needed some guys to go get the QB for years. It was like, can Grady Jarrett get some help? The answer was no.
Hopefully you have this, have this set up now. Falcons are an interesting team. Let's throw our appendix. Let's have some young edge rushers. Let's keep around Kirk Cousins. Just Falcons do weird things. Not conventional by any stretch of the imagination.
Not at all. I need you to think O'Reilly Auto Parts for all of your car care needs. Get guaranteed low prices and excellent customer service from the professional parts people at O'Reilly Auto Parts. Speaking about weird franchises, in about 30 minutes from now, we're going to have a chat with Mary Kay Cabot. Covers all things Browns for Cleveland.com. I'm going to get our thoughts on what the heck is going on in Cleveland. Them trading away the opportunity to draft Travis Hunter. All of these quarterbacks they've added.
The two rookies, Dylan Gabriel and Chidor Sanders. And we'll talk about Kevin Stefanski. You know, what's his job security look like for this upcoming season? It seems like he's been on tonight. So there's a lot of conversations to have with Mary Kay Cabot. And is this what Miles Garrett envisioned when he resigned his contract? I think not. We'll get into the Browns and talk some more NFL as well. It's the JR Sport Brief Show on the Infinity Sports Network.
