It is the JR Sport Brief show on the Infinity Sports Network. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you to everybody tuned in all over North America.
This show gets started every weekday at 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific. So you can listen in California. You could listen in New York with super producer and host Ryan Hickey. You could listen in Alaska, Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal.
You could listen, I don't know, in Miami, Florida. And maybe that'd be a better idea than what's going on basketball-wise. The Cleveland Cavaliers are trying to sweep the Miami Heat. They are smoking them out the gate 35 to 8. It's two minutes to go here in the first quarter.
I think Eric Spoelstra, I don't know, he didn't call a time out. He just, he's looking at his guys like, what the hell are y'all doing? Y'all suck. Meanwhile, by the way, Jimmy Butler, he's going to play basketball tonight. He suffered a pelvic contusion.
When did we get so damn fancy? The guy has a bruised tailbone. He fell on his spine. He fell on the back of his ass. It hurts. Pelvic contusion.
Come on now. I think pelvic contusion. I think something else. That's not what he got.
He fell on his ass. Okay. Anyway, Golden State Warriors are trying to go up 3-1 against these young Houston Rockets and the Miami Heat, as I just said, get them the hell up on out of here. Cleveland leads.
Damn, 38 to 10. They're just knocking down threes. Hickey, the fans in Miami never seem all that enthusiastic about much of anything. They look like they're just already sitting here at a funeral.
They might as well already be there. Well, here's the good news for the mostly late arriving Heat fans. Turn around. Don't even walk in. Don't even bother. If you're at the bar, stay there. If you're at home, skip it. Yeah, we got that famous scene from, remember when Ray Allen hit that shot against San Antonio and everybody was already leaving?
That's right. Trying to get back in. Trying to get back in. It's like, in what world do you leave an arena for any event? And they just say, yeah, just come back on it. Yeah, yeah. It's just, oh, I came to see Beyonce.
Beyonce is not on yet. So I just want to go back outside and sit down and have some dinner and come back. No, it doesn't work that way. You buy tickets to an event. You are inside that event until it's time to leave. You can't be going in and out. It's not a subway station.
It's an event, in this case, a basketball game. Which, Hickey, have you ever seen that comedian? I think it's Afion Crockett. You ever seen him make fun of Eric Spolstra? Does he sort of look like him?
Yes, yes. Afion Crockett's just standing there with his hands on his hips and looking around left to right. With those eyeballs bugging out and then he like folds his arms and sitting there like he's all pissed off. Yeah, it's the perfect Eric Spolstra. When I see Eric Spolstra now, I'm thinking about Afion Crockett. It's just, well, this is going to be the last we see of Eric Spolstra because there ain't no coming back from this. I know he might as well have like a lifetime deal coaching the Miami Heat. I think he probably has the best job security of any coach in the NBA.
But his mannerisms on the sidelines are hands on the hips, hands crossed, head down, looking left, looking right, looking concerned. And that's about it. The Cavaliers pitiful. They lead 41 to 12. Almost done here in the first quarter. We'll keep you up to date on this beat down as it continues on.
And there you have it. And we want to have another game. Who's this other team? I want to say the Miami Heat. I saw Jimmy Butler, but that's right. He left. The Golden State Warriors and the Rockets, they start at 10 Eastern, 7 Pacific. So we will be the hell up on out of here by the time that game starts.
How about this? In another 15 minutes, we're going to have a chat with Mary Kay Cabot. She covers all things Cleveland Browns for Cleveland.com. So many questions, of course, that I want to ask Mary Kay Cabot as it relates to the Browns.
Dylan Gabriel and Chidor, Miles Garrett and his new contract. What does this mean for Deshaun Watson? Joe Flacco is still there. You got Judy. What is he going to do getting passes from 20 million different quarterbacks?
And so a lot of question marks when it comes down to the Cleveland Browns. We're going to talk to her on the phone. If you want to jump on the phone lines as well, you can 888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4ISN.
That is the number. You know, last hour we heard from some of the other interesting stories over the weekend. We talked about that 100 men versus one gorilla.
We had a great chat as well. Thank you all so much to Chad Ryder for joining us from NFL.com. Damian Lillard just out for the season now, out for the postseason, maybe out for next year as well with a blown out Achilles.
And there's just so many things that happened over the weekend. But something else, there were a variety of players and not just Chidor Sanders who were victims of prank calls here during the NFL draft. Like Chidor Sanders got a call. He thought it was Mickey Loomis, the GM of the New Orleans Saints.
It was not. It happened to be Ulbricht, who's now the defensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons. He just got the job after working for the New York Jets. Like his son got access to Jeff Ulbricht's iPad, called and had him and had him prank called. And he had to put out an entire apology. The Falcons had to apologize. The NFL is investigating how to help. You know, Jeff Ulbricht allowed his son to get a hold of Chidor Sanders.
No, it's just it's just amateur hour. Nobody I think is going to get in trouble. Everybody just got a massive warning. And Chidor, this is what he had to say. You know what?
Forget what Chidor said. Let's listen to the actual prank phone call. Listen.
This is Mickey Loomis here, GM of the Saints. How you doing? Good.
How are you, man? Good. Been waiting on you. Yeah, we have. It's been a long wait, man.
No, for sure. We're going to take you with our next feed right here, man. Yeah. Yes, sir. Let's be legendary.
Yeah, but you're going to have to wait a little bit longer, man. OK. Sorry about that. You know, ouch.
And Chidor had a response when he actually got drafted fifth overall Chidor on Saturday. He says, man, it was childish, but it happens. It didn't really have no impact on me because this is like, I mean, OK, like that. I don't I don't I don't feed into negativity or I don't feed into that stuff like you've seen on Deon Jr.'s YouTube video. My reaction to it, I don't.
This is what it is. I think I think, of course, to do childish. Of course, I feel like it was a childish act, but everybody do childish things here and there. So. Yeah, you could say that a lot of the talent evaluators and coaches who he spoke with, they thought that he was childish and we'll find out what he does with Cleveland.
We'll have a chat with Mary Kay Abbott from Cleveland dot com in about 15 minutes. I want to say no big deal. Honestly, I feel that way. Like it's it's a terrible thing that Jeff Albrecht just got this job with the Falcons. Like if anybody's to be to blame, it's him.
Like your son has that much much access to sensitive materials. It was reported that Chidor's number was either a. Given in the phone was given to him from the NFL just for the sole purposes of being in contact with teams, or it was a brand new number that he got because his old number was leaked enough. And I guess if you're young and you're famous and you're rich and you're wealthy, you know, one guy has your number and then somebody else has your number and your team has your number and your number gets out. It's just it seems par for the course, which is why a lot of folks go through multiple numbers, people of celebrity, and they have numbers for pleasure and family and business. And it gets it can get messy. I don't think it's a big deal.
I just think that this is up to each individual. Jeff Albrecht is now an example. You don't think that we're going to have teams next year that are going to tell these dudes like, hey, and when I say dudes, the coaches, people in charge, the guys that are supposed to, you know, be professionals, you don't think the teams are going to tell them, knock it off. You don't think the NFL is going to warn these these these players and teams that, hey, if we get this crap again next year, like somebody has to be punished, like we may start dishing out fines if sensitive information is getting out.
And let's also be real. A lot of this is, is it not for TV? Right, is it's for the broadcast experience? Like as a viewer outside of, hey, this is a good shot.
Do we need to see the guy sitting in this living room getting a phone call? Does it add anything to you personally outside of knowing who they're going to pay? It doesn't do anything. Like it's good for the player. This is their moment. But man, you about to get millions of dollars.
Who cares? Some knucklehead calls you up and you know, prank call. Welcome to life. We got a lot of knuckleheads out here that try to take a crap on people who are public figures. Get used to it. Just par for the course. 888-710-4ISN.
That's 888-710-4ISN. This isn't exactly, I don't know, somebody throwing a pie at you while you cross the stage during graduation. You know, this isn't exactly, you know, delivering the state of a union and you know, getting a shoe thrown at. I just, it's not the biggest deal to me. I'm like, yeah, whatever.
Picky, am I being a jerk? Like I'm, I don't, I just feel like if you are a coach, you should feel bad. Like you should, you should probably get your ass punished. Maybe down the line.
I think the NFL will do that. But I don't, I'm not crying. Oh, somebody took his moment away.
Oh, they scared him. Like, I'm like, suck it up. I think it's pretty cool. Like that sucks. This is supposed to be one of the biggest moments of your life.
You're obviously waiting for a call to help, you know, steer the direction of your career that you've been working for your entire life and to kind of get that false hope. I think it's pretty crappy to do it from the other side. I felt bad for sure. I thought he handled it well, but I definitely felt sympathy for him. And apparently Tyler Warren got a prank call. Now he didn't have to wait as long as Chidor did, but still, and a few others reportedly got prank calls.
So it seems like while there's been no confirmation about, you know, other pranks, that it seems like the same guy, Jax Ulbrich, I'm assuming if he did it once, I'm assuming he did it multiple times. Yeah. I agree that it sucks. But on the other end of it, I go, you said cruel. Yeah, you said cruel. Your life is cruel. Get over it. They're worse things. I am tough. Like get over it. Like life is cruel. People are going to say worse things. Who's the guy on the Red Sox?
Duran? Yeah, this poor guy. He openly admitted to having suicidal thoughts a few years ago. And we had some jackass went up to him at a baseball game over the weekend while he's on the field of play and is yelling at him. Oh, man. Well, you should have killed yourself. Like, whoa. Like, that's that's cruel. Like, that's terrible. That guy should never be allowed in a baseball stadium again. Just if you got to go wish a guy death, then maybe you should go, I don't know, go ride a bike somewhere. Just that's cruel. You know, making a prank phone call is his amateur hour. He's being a jerk.
And Chador will be fine. Hey, get him checks still cashed. I saw some video after the fact that he was gifted. I don't know who gifted it to him. He was gifted one million dollars after he was drafted. He was surrounded by celebrities and musicians and and rappers.
And he was having a time of his life. Like, I don't I don't feel bad for him. It's not nice.
It was a cruel joke. But. Welcome to life, bro.
This whole experience over the weekend for Chador was just one big welcome to life. Like, let's think about this. This is relatively speaking, he's moving into being an adult. I mean, you can have a college experience as Dion's son, but it's not a normal college experience. He's going to have to start like a lot of people walking the line and going through life and making decisions on his own. Like you can be steered by your parents and family or you can get advice from your parents and family and your friends.
You can do all of that. But when the rubber meets the road. You know, it's a little bit different, a little bit different. So, hey, Chador, if that's the worst thing that happened to you besides falling in the draft.
Man, he looked like he was having a good old time at that party. Oh, we'll see. Do you think that Jeff Albrecht should be punished or the warning is good enough?
I don't think so. I'm assuming this was an, you know, innocent in the sense of he just left it open by accident. I don't think you should be responsible for what a college age kid would do without your knowledge.
I would say right now, based on the facts we know, I don't think Jeff Albrecht not getting punished is that I think that's the right course of action. Yeah, I think a warning is due. But ultimately, I say, hey, it was the information was with him. It's his responsibility to have safekeeping of it.
And at that point in time, he has to be be responsible. But I think this go around and just a warning. And I think the NFL is going to be very clear next year in twenty twenty six. Hey, if you're handling sensitive information for these prospects, keep it to yourself because everything is trackable. I mean, the NFL is out here picking up wide receivers who like to gamble on the side, especially if they have and hold the information and the equipment is theirs.
It's it's never hard to find and track things or people down. Let this be a learned or learning experience, a learning lesson for everybody. It's the J.R. Sportbree show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. We're going to take a break.
We come back on the other side. We're going to have a chat with Mary K Abbott Cabot, excuse me, who covers all things Browns for Cleveland Dotcom. Yes, we'll ask about your door, the quarterback room, Miles Garrett, the ownership situation to Sean Watson.
So many questions. We'll have this chat with Mary K Cabot on the other side. It's the J.R. Sportbree show where on the Infinity Sports Network. You're listening to the J.R. Sportbree.
It is the J.R. Sportbree show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. The Cleveland Browns made a lot of news over the NBA draft, NFL draft. NBA teams are getting smacked around right now. Unfortunately, the Cavaliers are winning.
That's good. But the Browns, they trade down. Don't take Travis Hunter. They get Dylan Gabriel.
They get your door. Sanders, Miles Garrett reups on his contract. They still have Deshaun Watson. So many questions to talk about all things Browns. It's time to have a conversation with Browns beat writer for Cleveland Dotcom, Mary K Cabot. Mary K, thank you for taking the time to join us. Sure.
Thanks for having me. Absolutely. When you take a look at everything that has gone on over the past three days involving the Browns, what surprises you the most, if anything? I would have to say what surprised me the most was them coming back in the fifth round and trading up for Chidor Sanders.
There's no question about it. That was the most surprising thing. I had an inkling. They were going to trade down from number two. I had an inkling. They were going to take Dylan Gabriel at some point in this draft, but I did not know that they would come back and grab Chidor Sanders like that in the fifth round. Well, there was there was so many questions. Even Andrew Berry had the answer about his lack of enthusiasm when they made the suggestion and the mild claps, his press conference saying Chidor would have to come in and earn everything.
Why Dylan Gabriel? But then why select Chidor? Like he said it didn't come from the top. Why make the selection? Well, because at that point for Chidor Sanders and the value that he carried on their board, they always say that they stay true to their board. And he had the absolute highest grade of anybody left on their board. And they really did stay true to it. They they went after him and they got him and they figured why not take a chance, take a flyer on a player who many thought would be the number two quarterback off the board in this draft.
And they went ahead and they did it. They were going to need a fourth quarterback for camp anyways. And I also think that perhaps there was some thought given to throwing Chidor a lifeline after getting to know him throughout the pre draft process and maybe spare him from going undrafted because it looks like that could have happened. Browns beat writer Mary Kay Cabot is here with us on the chair our sport re-show Coast to Coast. When you think about the current quarterback room, we know Deshaun Watson recovering from the blown Achilles. We know Joe Flacco, 40 years old. Kenny Pickett, a backup at best.
You now have Chidor and Dylan Gabriel into that mix. How do you think this is going to progress through the summertime and then into the regular season as it relates to the starter? Well, I think they will give these guys an opportunity to compete.
It's the first open competition in the Kevin Stefanski era. So these guys will have a chance to come in here and let the best man win. I actually do think that if there were a game tomorrow that Kenny Pickett would be the starter.
That's what I think would happen. I think he would get the nod over Joe Flacco. And I think that because they went out at the starter free agency and made sure to grab Kenny Pickett right off the bat. And it's not that Joe was an afterthought, but they took their good old time before they actually signed Joe Flacco. So they weren't exactly clamoring for him per se. They did sign him. They're happy to have him.
Fans are thrilled to have him back, but I don't necessarily think that they viewed him as their potential starting quarterback for this season right at the start of free agency. That was more the Kenny Pickett role. So if the season started today, I would say Kenny. And then I think Dylan will give him a nice run for his money and then they'll go from there.
Mary Kay Cabot is here with us. Covers the Browns for Cleveland.com. You mentioned Kevin Stefanski and having an open competition for the quarterback one spot. We know that this is someone who has won coach of the year and then towards the end of last season, we heard calls about how, you know, he may leave or they may let him go. What do you think this upcoming season is going to be for Stefanski?
Is he going to have kind of room to do what he wants? What can we expect? Yeah, Kevin Stefanski and of course Andrew Berry will have room to do what they need to do because this is not necessarily the year that they will have found their franchise quarterback.
They now have two first round picks for next year and next year they might have the chance to find that quarterback if they don't get him this year. So I think this is a year of patience, of regrouping, of going back to the Kevin Stefanski way of doing things after they tried to completely rewrite the offense and revamp the offense last year in the mold of Ken Dorsey. It did not go well. It just wasn't a fit for anybody and it was kind of a disaster.
It was a disaster. Let's just call it what it was and so they're going to go back to the Kevin Stefanski way of doing things and the quarterbacks that they have in the room generally fit what he does well. Now they have two running backs. They will bolster the running game with the two new backs and they should get themselves back on track to a degree.
Yeah, picking up Quinshan Judkins as well. Do you think this is over for Chubb in Cleveland or is there a possibility he returns as well? I think there's a possibility that he returns. I think to a certain extent, and I wrote about this today, I think to a certain extent it will depend on kind of what happens with Jerome Ford. If someone makes them an offer that they can't refuse for Jerome Ford, then maybe they pick up an extra draft pick for him and that opens the door for Nick Chubb to return. But in the event that things work out between the Browns and Jerome and he sticks around, then I think it makes it a little bit more difficult for Nick to come back because, you know, do you really want Nick Chubb being your fourth running back on your football team? That would be a tough pill, I think, for him to swallow, for Browns fans to swallow.
So I don't see that necessarily happening and I think the situation is a little fluid. And Browns beat reporter Mary Kay Cabot here with us on the JR Sport Reshow. Somebody who did return to the Browns is someone who initially asked for a trade and said he didn't want to leave and now he's coming back. They paid him. He gave all these reasons why he came back. These quarterbacks and the decisions they made over the weekend didn't have nothing to do with Miles Gatt returning. It's just about the cash. That's why he came back, right?
A little disingenuous or is it me? Well, I think that they showed Miles that they had 10 draft picks in this draft and that they were going to overhaul the running game, which was one of the things that he actually said he wanted to happen. So they showed that they were going to do that. Then I think they showed him that they were going to try really hard to get much better quarterback play this year and then also look with an eye towards next season when they could possibly draft maybe a franchise quarterback in the first round. So I don't think they sold him on, hey, Kenny Pickett's our franchise quarterback and everything's going to be great. I think it was a combination of add some key pieces in free agency, add a lot of pieces in the draft, and then also look towards next year when they can really hit the ground running. Well, when you think about some of the help he got on the defense, obviously picking up Mason Graham from Michigan, Schwesinger from UCLA at linebacker, do you think at any point they'll regret not picking up Travis in that number two spot and trading down?
You know, I'm going to say no. I'm going to say I don't think they're going to regret that. If you look what they already did with two of those picks from that trade, they completely overhauled their running game with Quinn-Shawn Judkins and Dylan Sampson. And I think they're going to have a dynamite running game. They got Mason Graham, who everybody thought was going to be a top five pick. And they also have a first round pick next year to use on possibly a quarterback or maybe something else. But with everything that they got, I just have a feeling that they're probably not going to regret that as much as some people think they will. We know Mary Kay, this is going to be a full on rebuilding year. The fans is unfortunately in Cleveland. This is something that they're used to.
What is the full expectation? Let's tank. Maybe we have a franchise quarterback here somewhere. And if not, we just head into the draft.
There's pretty much those the two pass. You know what? I don't really think that they're looking at this as a full on rebuild year. I don't know if you can look at it like that when you've got a Pro Bowl receiver in Jerry Judy, a Pro Bowl tight end in David Njoku, Pro Bowl offensive lineman in Jack Conklin, Joel Bitonio, Wyatt Teller, 2023 NFL defensive player of the year, Miles Garrett, four time Pro Bowler in Denzel Ward. Now you've got a completely revamped running game like we talked about. You've got the best defensive tackle in the class coming into Cleveland. I just don't know that you can call that a full rebuild.
I don't think so. I think the only X factor is the quarterback. There are other there are other pieces that they need, of course, but I think that they have significantly upgraded this football team. OK, well, you got to compete with the Ravens, the Steelers and the Bengals.
It'll be another a rock fight in the AFC North. What do you think is best case scenario for the Browns this upcoming season? It all depends on the quarterback. I don't know what kind of quarterback play they're going to get because I don't know what Kenny Pickett really is necessarily going to be able to do or Joe Flacco or anybody else that might come in here and start for them.
That is the whole key to the whole thing. If they can get good quarterback play, then I think they can win eight games, maybe even push it, push it to nine games. Not really sure about that, but I think they can get somewhere around there because last year they turned the ball over 34 times. If you just cut that in half, you're winning three more games or four more games.
So if they get decent, clean ball from their quarterback and then run the ball a ton, then I think that they could be onto a little something. All right. Well, Mary Kay, thank you so much for the time. Please tell everybody where they can follow you and your work with Cleveland dot com. Yeah. In addition to Cleveland dot com, you can find me on Twitter at Mary Kay Cabot.
Well, thank you, Mary Kay. I know you're going to be busy this whole off season into the season, so thank you so much. Sure.
Thanks for having me. No doubt about it. That Mary Kay Cabot covers all things Browns beat reporter and writer for Cleveland dot com. Yeah, that is that is the crux of the Cleveland Browns.
What's going on with quarterback? And realistically, when you think about what is already a crowded AFC North, you have the Ravens who, well, we can expect them to compete for a championship. They just need to get to and pass the AFC title game. You got the Bengals who are going to try to outscore the world, always going to be competitive. The Steelers, whether they win ugly or maybe they end up with Aaron Rodgers, the Steelers at worst will be an average football team.
I think they'll be slightly above average. And then the Browns, they won they won three games last year. And granted, I could have played quarterback for the Browns last year. I think eight games as a kind of a ceiling that is best case scenario and eight games in the AFC North is just it's not going to cut it. It's not going to cut it to make the postseason. I don't think it's going to cut it enough for them to say, oh, my God, we're going to walk away with a franchise quarterback next year. The Browns, I think they would really have to suck this year. Quarterback situation would have to be disastrous. And I think it's possible to walk away with Chador having a good season and or Dylan Gabriel having a good enough season to say, oh, we we feel confident, but we're bad enough.
We can still go out there and select the number one. I mean, if I was a Browns fan, I wouldn't be surprised if we got to, let's say, already November. The fans already walking around with them bags on their heads. OK, I remember them scenes of the dog pound. These fans are wearing dog masks and paper bags.
They all fit in. It's just just wild out there in Cleveland. It's the JR Sportbree show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. 888-710-4ISN.
That's 888-710-4ISN. And thank you again to Mary Kay Cabot from Cleveland.com. And we also had a great chat last hour with Chad Ryder from the NFL.com. He says he thinks that Cam Ward is going to, well, he's going to do a damn good job playing for the Tennessee Titans. We got a lot of clips that kind of popped up over the weekend about Cam Ward and his commitment to football. And there's a clip that I do want to share with you. He's working out with Chador Sanders, and he had some words that might kind of tell you the difference between these two QBs.
I'll share that with you on the other side of the break. We'll talk some basketball as well as the Cleveland Cavaliers are trying to eliminate the Miami Heat. You're listening to the JR Sportbree. It is the JR Sportbree show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network.
Man, just when you thought the Chador news was done. I got more for you. This time it involves the Canadian Football League. I'll tell you in a second.
Hey, how about this? This NFL draft recap is sponsored by EGO. Tools that deliver or exceed the power and performance of gas without the noise, fuss and fumes for any outdoor challenge. Count on EGO. Tools to deliver the power, performance and innovation you need. EGO.
Power beyond belief. NFL.com is ranked the Eagles draft class as the best in the league, citing the Jahad Campbell selection in round one, Andrew Mokuba in round two, and Ty Robinson in round four as immediate impact players this upcoming season for 2025. Rounding out the top five best drafts according to NFL.com, the Ravens, the Chiefs, the Bills and the Lions.
Oh yeah, teams that are competing for a championship. Not too bad and not shabby. Hey, we heard this from Rich Ackerman a few minutes ago. Oh yeah, and by the way, thank you so much to Mary Kay Cabot for joining us in the last break. Covers the Cleveland Browns for Cleveland.com.
If you missed that conversation, go ahead and hit rewind on the free Odyssey app. She feels good about the team and the talent that they have on a roster. It's just a matter of who is playing quarterback.
I'll tell you about that in a second. But right now, speaking of another Cleveland team, this Cleveland team is trying to compete for a championship. The Cavaliers are smoking the Miami Heat 72 to 33 at halftime. Donovan Mitchell, 13 points, three of six, knocking it down from deep. DeAndre Hunter, a perfect three of three from deep. He has 18 points here off the bench in the first half. What a move that was to acquire him from the Atlanta Hawks.
Meanwhile, the Miami Heat, yeah, they've checked out. Andrew Wiggins, who at one point in time helped the Golden State Warriors win a championship. Andrew Wiggins, zero points, zero of five from the field. Bam Adebayo, six points. Tyler Hero, four points, one of eight shooting.
That sucks. Hickey, I don't, does, does Wiggins like playing basketball? I feel like since they won that championship or he won that championship in Golden State, I think he's just he just exists. I think I think his dad was sick or passed away. I don't I don't know. He's just an interesting fellow, man. His motor doesn't always seem to be there. And that was the question, right?
Coming out of Kansas to begin with when he was first drafted. Yeah, it's been a common question where he's able to channel it, you know, for that year ish with the wars that helped result in a title. But really, before that and since, yeah, it's it's been non-existent or not there, I should say as consistently as you really need it to be.
Yeah, I don't know if it's ever going to be there. The guy is 30 years old already. He's 30. I know he's just forever has seemed like a young guy. He's 30 already. He's been in the league more than 10 years.
He started in 2014, 2015. So he ain't no spring chicken. What it is is it's kind of what it is right now. The Miami Heat look like they're about to be done. We talked about the Milwaukee Bucks likely done as well down 3-1 in their series against the Indiana Pacers. It looks like the Indiana Pacers and these Cleveland Cavaliers there. They're on a collision course over the second round.
It's really just a matter of when. And then last night or yesterday afternoon to be exact, we saw what happened between the New York Knicks and the Pistons. Looks like the New York Knicks got away with one.
They now lead the Pistons series 3-1. There was that non foul call at the end of the game against Tim Hardaway Jr. that didn't result in him going to the free throw line. And the New York Knicks were able to walk away with one after Karl Anthony Towns got hot at the end of the game. The referees even admitted after the game that they missed out on a call. But myself personally, the way I look at these games, the way I look at sports, yeah, you can look at the final call and the referees might have missed it, but you have to be accountable for what took place throughout the course of the game. It doesn't just come down to that final play. And so no, the refs didn't cost you a game. They missed a call at a crucial point. But it's your job.
It's your job to make sure that that opportunity is not in their hands. Let's listen to Detroit Pistons head coach J.B. Bickerstaff. He says the refs, yeah, they missed the call. Of course they missed it. There's contact on Tim Hardaway's jump shot.
You know, I don't know any other way around it. There's contact on his jump shot. The guy leaves his feet. He's at Timmy's mercy. And I repeat, there's contact on his jump shot. Yeah, well, we saw it. And Tim Hardaway Jr., he's the one who got hit. Listen to what he said. Yeah, he got hit.
As simple as that. He get over it. Am I wrong to say that?
Get over it. The New York Knicks are going to advance and it ain't good for the New York Knicks. They got the Orlando Magic coming up.
Or excuse me, I said that wrong. Got the Celtics coming up. Hickey, are the Celtics going to wipe the floor with the Knicks? Yes. Which is why I liked the first way you phrased it. Hey, the Magic are Knicks. OK, now we're talking.
That's what I like to hear. Yeah. Yeah, not not happening. Yeah, I don't want to see that one.
Hickey, can you help me understand this? Why would the Knicks win a playoff game? Why are there fans? Why are they outside?
And it's a select group. But why are there fans out front losing their minds for what? I think what now is the reason for it. I think it's just all like kids trying to go viral.
I think that's all it is. I don't think they're actually, for the most part, actual Knicks fans. I think 95 percent are not actually in the game watching. They're outside the arena waiting for this moment. It happened organically a few years ago in the Hawks series. The first time the Knicks made the playoffs in like a decade.
They win a playoff game. People go crazy because it's been so long. That you could say, OK, it's going over the top.
But Knicks fans have watched a lot of bad basketball. So in the moment, you're excited that your team's in the playoffs and they actually won a game. And then I think that devolved into now all of a sudden it's, oh, some of these videos went viral. So now I want to have my five minutes of fame. So let me go wait outside the Garden when they win. Let's just, you know, have a mosh pit. Let me say something crazy.
And hopefully, you know, my face, my name can get out there. That's what I think it is at this point. Yeah. I saw police confiscate the speakers, you know, at the end.
And it's just like, I know you didn't have that. You can't take speakers into an arena. So this is why people don't like Knicks fans. It's just obnoxious for no reason. Or maybe it's New Yorkers in a hole.
Maybe it's at a hole. I just don't know how many of those people are actually Knicks fans. Yeah, but they they represent the Knicks in the city, do they not? The city I would. Yes, I would agree. I think it's a bigger reflection on New York than maybe the Knicks fans.
But yes. And so it's going to be real fun when the Celtics beat the Knicks like four games to two and then the two games at the Knicks win the fans for the victories. The Knicks are going to be out there, the fans, whatever the hell we call them. They're going to be out there celebrating like they won a championship and everybody's looking at them like, you'll lose. You're going to lose the series.
Oh, we'll see what happens there. By the way, Drew Holliday, he's been out with a hamstring. It doesn't look like he's going to go out there and play tomorrow as the Celtics try to finish off the magic. Knicks will be in action tomorrow as well.
We got a lot of games. Pacers are trying to finish off the Bucks with no Damian Lillard. Tonight, we'll see if Golden State could take a 3-1 lead against the Rockets in two days from now.
Man, this is crazy. Timberwolves are going to try to eliminate the Lakers, who don't have enough. Hickey, we got four games tomorrow. Nuggets and Clippers as well. They're tied at two all.
This is crazy. How many games could they shoehorn into one day? Tomorrow is just every game imaginable. Well, I mean, tonight is really only one game because the one going on right now is not even a game. The Heat have quit. So, we got one game tonight, essentially. We should be good in Rockets, Warriors. Three games tomorrow.
So, yeah, we just, I think we deserve it. Wait. Oh, yeah, Tuesday. Damn, Tuesday is four games.
Wednesday is three games. It is a lot of basketball. It's nice that we're getting some of these teams the hell up on out of here. I'm glad that the, what are those bums called with the guys shooting guns?
Morant? I'm glad that they're, I'm glad they're done. Can't wait to, Hickey, I do, I want the Knicks to be eliminated. Sorry.
Damn. Well, I just, just want to get the bums out of here. The Orlando Magic, be nice when they're done. Miami Heat, they don't care. Let's get Houston out of here.
I'd love to see the Lakers switch things around, but. There are bums right now. We'll see you later. Yeah, Minnesota is going to run them out of here. Yeah, let's move on.
This is what I said last week. Just, just give me three games in the first round. We don't need four games. Give me three. Spare us the rest of this crap and let's keep it moving.
