Yo, yo! Hour number four of our radio program. That's right, Zach Gelb's show on CBS Sports Radio. Time to update you on some of the biggest stories of the day with some audio. Let's get to the News Brief. Time for your Daily News Brief.

We get you caught up on the rumors, reports, and reconnaissance from the day in sports. You know, when I read this slug line, I almost forgot that Monty Austin Fort wasn't the GM of the Arizona Cardinals. So Steve Keim, the former general manager of the Arizona Cardinals, was on the Green Light Podcast.

That's Chris Long's podcast. And Steve Keim on why DeAndre Hopkins' market hasn't been robust. Here's the problem. The problem is his current contract. Yeah. And, you know, with I think it's 30 million in cap, I think it's 20 million in cash. So those pose some serious problems to teams, particularly teams that probably have a quarterback and has taken up a large number of the cap itself. Yeah. So, you know, teams are gonna have to be number one. They're gonna have to be creative.

I think it's clear what's happening here. The Cardinals don't want to take back a certain amount of money, Hickey, and they want this big draft pick and they're not gonna get both. So either you gotta take back some money and you'll get a better draft pick, or you just give them away from whatever you could get and some other team takes the salary. Like if I'm the Cardinals though, Ryan, with this basically being a lost season and practically a beginning of a rebuild, even though you have your quarterback or you think you have your quarterback, but your quarterback's probably not gonna play for half a season. Where did you just get the best draft pick available? And who cares if you gotta take more money than you would like back on DeAndre Hopkins? Couldn't agree more. You should prioritize getting the best pick available. If that means eating 80% of his salary, let's just say.

And you got a second. Okay, so be it. Like I said, this is a lost year anyway. His salary being on the books and not him being on the field for you does not matter in 2023.

And also, I think it, I don't know why Steve Keim is avoiding this point and maybe he brought it up when you hear the entire cut. With how cheap he got DeAndre Hopkins from the Texans in that trade, I don't think it helps the Cardinals case now because this idea that they're gonna get a first or even a second, I think it's tough to sell with how little they actually ended up paying in terms of draft compensation to get DeAndre Hopkins. They basically got him for a bunch of footballs. I think that does play a factor now, a few years removed and also a guy that's had an injury and oh yeah, by the way, has had a suspension now. Yeah, I think the age and the missed games, but I think also you're right. Like when you look at the starting point of, was it a second round pick, right? I believe. And like David Johnson. Yeah. For David Johnson went to the Texans.

Yes, yes. Does not help your market. At least you're setting the market. Like for example, if I traded for you, like let's say you were at some other radio station and I traded for you like a third round pick. And then a few years later, it's like, I want to get rid of you. Oh, teams are only, if they really value you, they would start at maybe what I gave up for you, but it's not going to exceed that.

Especially if you only get an older too. The production slipped, like I said, you're older, injury, suspension. He was playing well, a different story. Well, he was dominant this year when he came back. He had 64 receptions, 717 yards with not a great quarterback. And then also his quarterback and hurt. You know, that was only in nine games.

Think about that. Nine games, 717 yards and three touchdowns. And at the end of the season, you're not playing with Kyler Murray.

That's pretty damn good. That's still pretty elite to me. I would think DeAndre Hopkins.

You don't think DeAndre Hopkins still won in this league? I think it's for certain teams. That's just a guy that, again, if you're a championship team, you're putting them with someone else, not having to be the sole guy.

He should be in Kansas. Well, I think he could still be the sole guy, but I think he should go to Kansas city. That makes too much sense for both teams. You know, give up a three if you're Kansas city.

Basically like a four, as you know, and you take on a little extra cash, maybe if you're a Casey, I think it would work well for both teams. I'm pretty sure when he was on Pat McAfee at this point, maybe a month or two ago, I think he did mention that he would take a pay cut. It was him and Pac-Man Jones who was speaking for DeAndre Hopkins. Basically mentioned that money, if he was to go to a winning team, money won't be the reason why he's not going to, let's say the Chiefs, because he wants a bigger, bigger salary. Where do you think he's playing next year? If you had to take a guess, because I think the Patriots are still in play. Buffalo seems very unlikely right now. I do think it's going to be Kansas city. You know, outside of that, I thought the charges were a destination, but then Keenan Allen, they figured out that contract. They're not willing to pay Austin Eckler right now. When I look around, it's not as many options as you would think for a player of the caliber of DeAndre Hopkins. If I was a betting man and you gave me three choices, Chiefs won, Pats two.

And then after that, it's like, Ooh, you know what? Can I, I'll throw a wildcard in there. Detroit. You know, I'd love to see him go actually.

Where's that? Green Bay. Oh, we got to give Jordan a number one receiver.

We really can't stand you. We traded you. And for years you've been asked, basically asking to get someone to compliment Devante Adams. Well, we're going to go get a guy that you would have loved to have played with, with DeAndre Hopkins. And in some way it is a Packers kind of move, Gudukun's kind of move. And you're hoping that he could be something. Cause how many times do they bring in someone where they just hope, hope, hope, hope, hope in Green Bay.

All right, let's keep it moving. Steve Keim on what the Cardinals could get back in a trade for DeAndre Hopkins. The contract. And you think to yourself, he's been hurt the last couple of years. They're going to have to come to understand that they're probably not going to get as much as they would if he was a younger player or his contract was, was considerably lower. Yeah. You know, where you could get them for a second round pick, or you could maybe get a third round.

It may end up being a, you know, a second or third day draft pick. Yeah. To really get it done. Steve Keim will play one more, says Kyle Murray's attention to detail needs to improve. Just a tremendous talent. I mean, he really is, the stuff he does, you see in practice and some games, I mean, he's just off the charts.

I think it's just putting it together and playing consistent football for four quarters. You know, I think he still needs to grow and it's not a, again, it's not slanted towards his character. He is not a bad guy.

He's a really good kid, has a good smile and has a nice way about him. I think it's like anything, guys have to continue to learn what it's going to take to be great. You know, does, does he know what Peyton Manning and Tom Brady know, knows what it takes to be great?

No. Does he work? He does work. I think it's just that side of the game, the film study, the attention to detail part that he can continue to improve upon. And I think he will, to me in that area of watching film, studying the game, attention to detail. I think that's the area where he can vastly improve.

I love how he so casually throws in the film study. You, you, Steve Kahn, literally put a clause in his contract. Basically as if he was a kid in middle school that didn't do his homework, he has to have study hall hours. All right, come on.

Like, what are we doing there? You know, Steve Kahn, he's not wrong in anything that he says, but he's, he's really one guy in the NFL that's annoyed me. Just how many times he's, and now he's out of a job, but for how many years this guy got a pass and it was just like, yeah, you get rid of Josh Rosen, you drafted him. Kyler Murray, there were problems there. Like eventually this guy got fired and, and I guess you could say go to the Cardinals, but who knows what their current state with all that's being alleged to the Arizona Cardinals right now. And also this is a guy that got arrested too in Steve Kahn. It's, it's just amazing how long he was actually able to last with the Arizona Cardinals, but maybe it shows you some of the things that they're being accused of now that that may not be the greatest work environment and they overlook a lot of things. I was just going to say, if you're buddy buddy with the owner, say what he wants to hear. It's amazing how, how far you can go. Tyreek Kilz says he's looking to retire after the 2025 season.

This is courtesy of Sports Radio 810. I'm going for 10, man. I'm going to finish out this contract with the Dolphins, man. And then I'm gonna call it quits. You know, I want to, I want to go into the business side, you know? You want to be in the coaching too, right?

Yeah, but not for long though. Like I want, like I want to do so many things in my life, bro. I want to coach, but not for long. That doesn't sound like a guy that would be that actually committed to coaching. I don't buy it for a single second that he would actually coach and like kind of coach for like two, three years and then go do something else. Cause I still think he's going to sign another contract somewhere else. Also coaching is not just something you do.

Like I'll add a whim, like I'll get into it. Like it's really not a fun job when you look at the study, the around the clock 24-7, 365. It's really not a good job in general. In this modern day of being an athlete, if I made as much money as Tyreek Kilz made, when I retired, I know you got to find something. And sometimes it may be in football, but coaching would be the last thing I would do.

How many hours you have to put in and how you become a robot. I get it. Some people can't break the addiction of football and that's why they go into coaching. Like I saw Danny Amendola is now joining the Raider staff. Now Danny didn't make as much money as Tyreek did, but he has, you know, did sign one big contract or somewhat big of a deal. And that's a guy it's like, okay, that was a guy that I could see him never leaving football. Like if Tyreek Kilz was a, is a star for me, like I can never see Brady coaching guys that are on, and I'm not saying Tyreek Kilz is on that level of Brady, but at the wide receiver position, he's one of the better wide receivers in the league. And he's making 20 something, 25 something 30, is it $30 million a year, whatever it is now, I can't see him ever coaching that I, that just does not register with me. There's a reason why most star players, when they retire, they do something other than coach. Like you want to tell me Randall Cobb's going to be a coach. Okay. Tyreek Kilz.

No, can't see that one. And I can't see him retiring in two years. Tyreek Kilz says he's excited to play the chiefs this year, sports radio 8-10. When the Miami Dolphins come to Arrowhead Stadium this year, guess what we going to do? Guess what we going to do? I hate to say it, man. I hate to throw up the peace sign against y'all. I hate to do it, but guess what? I'm going to be y'all worst enemy that day. I'm going to be y'all worst enemy that day.

We'll edit that now. We'll just get rid of that. We won't even let anyone hear that. The signals.

I know every signal y'all got. I really, I hope they lose. I'm talking about the Dolphins and you know, Tyreek Kilz will have a big day and that's all he'll care about.

And you won't care about the win loss. See what Chris Jones tweeted in response to that? No, what did he tweet? The only, he put the peace sign up, the only peace sign emoji he'll be doing is walking to the buses. Stone Cold Jones right there. I like that.

It's a good response. Chris Mortensen says the Panthers will draft Bryce Young courtesy of ESPN. What I'm hearing is that both Mel and Todd are going to have to change their mock drafts. And that Bryce Young is the pick. And yes, Frank White, connecting Frank White to CJ Stroud in terms of the prototype of guy that he, he's worked with in the past. But they all love Bryce Young.

I know I've been 50-50 on this. I know I said earlier that I am leaning that it's still going to be CJ Stroud because that's what was said initially. Heck yeah, I would not be surprised whatsoever in two, two and a half weeks or three or three weeks when we get ready to get on that plane and embark on our journey to Kansas City. If I'm saying that it's going to be Bryce Young with the number one overall pick. It should be Bryce Young. I just cannot get that image of Josh McCown basically trying to like put CJ Stroud in like a suitcase and take him to Carolina with him.

Yeah. Frank Reich and his habit of wanting and having bigger, taller, bulkier quarterbacks. I would be very surprised still if it's Bryce Young. Austin Eckler says he wants to remain a Charger.

This courtesy of Sirius XM Fantasy Sports Radio. For me, it really doesn't come down to the logo. It really comes down to just really the commitment to having me in a long-term plan. You know, kind of got punched in the face when the Chargers basically said, hey, we don't want to talk about extensions anymore. And, you know, this is the organization that I've continued to rise and hit new heights in and continue to add more value, right?

Scored the most touchdowns, you know, from scrimmage, you know, in the past two years. And, you know, so that's how it felt, right? It felt like, wow, like this is like the first time in my career with them that it felt like kind of like, you know, disrespected by my own organization. And it sucks. Like, I want to be a Charger, right? I want to be a Charger. I want to be there.

And it sucks because it's like, okay, let's get something done. Yes, I do have one more year in my contract, absolutely. But, you know, for them to want to allow me to go and be a free agent next year after playing and, you know, maybe we can get something done throughout the year. Who knows how it's going to play out?

I think it's very simple this one's going to play out. He'll play this year in Los Angeles. This will be his final year. And then he'll go get like a three or four-year deal somewhere else because there's not a lot of wear and tear on that body with how late it did take for him to get all those reps. And he is a tremendous player. I think he plays this year in LA Hickey. And then after that, he's somewhere else. Do you think he'll get traded at the draft?

It's a good question. I feel like that that's where this is heading, to be honest. We always are good now, the last few years for like one draft day surprise trade. And that's when teams kind of get active again in the trade market.

Put it this way. If you tell me he gets traded at the draft, I think the reaction would be, whoa, but it would be like, what a major move for that team. And for the Chargers, they take a step back. I don't think it would be like, whoa, I can't believe he got traded. Like when AJ Brown got traded last year, there was all that talk, but it never made any sense for Tennessee to trade him.

And in this case, just because of the position, you know, our teams are leery of really paying running backs. So I wouldn't be shocked if he gets traded, but I do think it would be a bad move because outside of Herbert on the offensive side of the ball, he is their most important player outside of Herbert and reliable with Keenan Allen and Mike Williams always being in and out of the lineup. That would be a bad look for the Chargers if they traded him. And if you're a team with one year left on the deal, I don't know how much it would, it would cost, but you don't necessarily have to have, I know he's been able to talk to other teams. You don't have to have a deal in place, but I'm sure you would have an idea of what he's looking for.

And worst case you let him play out for one year and then you could franchise tag him if you wanted to. Let's hear from Tim Hardaway Sr. He says the Mavericks lack leadership.

This was on the Cardin show on FS1. They missing a leader. They missing a leader out there. Luke is not a leader.

Korea is not a leader. Me personally, that trade wasn't for them. I think I would have kept what I had because I was in fourth fifth spot. Right? What is not broken does not need to be fixed.

Tough spot for Tim Hardaway Jr. To be in Hickey. And you got your pops talking on that on FS1. It's extremely tough. He's right and wrong. I think in both, in what he's saying there.

What do you mean by that? Right in the fact that there's absolutely no leadership on that Mavericks team. And Jason Kidd is a fraudulent head coach.

Agreed. Wrong in the sense of he was basically saying if it ain't broke, don't fix it. The Mavericks are not exactly, you know, this perfect roster in this team that was actually ready to contend in the Western Conference. I know it's easy to say because they were coming off, going to the Western Conference, final last year. But no one went into this season thinking they were going to the actual NBA. Right.

And you need to make moves. Kyrie's not the move, but you can also say that, oh, they should have just kept it in and they would have been better off like just running this crew back and seeing what happened. And also, I don't know how great of a leader Luka Doncic is.

I don't. And, you know, I think Luka also has to get in better shape as well. And that's something that's been talked about too. But Luka is a great player. He's a guy when you talk about having people on your team for the next decade, there's not like a ton of people that you could say in front of Luka Doncic.

Obviously there's names, but there's not like a ton. But for Luka, I think he's at a point where it's like he knows he's that great. And I think he even realizes, even though he's already signed the deal, like they've tried so much here. Porzingis, Brunson goes. I know today, Cuban's blaming Rick Brunson's father.

I know how that feels, by the way. So Mark, I understand if you need some counseling on that, Jalen was supposed to come to Temple and then allegedly Rick Brunson was in a massage parlor pretending to be Patrick Ewing. And then that went south and Rick was supposed to be in the Temple staff.

And then, oh, we have to get rid of you because something happened that I think those charges ended up being thrown out. But whatever, like I've said this numerous times on this show, Rick Brunson and Leon Rose are so tight. That was Leon's first client. If he got to the open market, you knew Jalen was going to the Knicks. No one knows Jalen Brunson better than Leon Rose. But in this case with Luca, like if I'm Luca, I'm sitting there, I'm saying, didn't work out with Kristaps. The guy that was the leader in Jalen Brunson, you never got a deal done with him. And then you bring in Kyrie, who's a great player, but he's a royal pain in the ass. If I'm Luca, I'm looking around the league saying, I'm a star.

What have other stars done? When KD wasn't thrilled or realized he couldn't win, where did he go? Golden State. When LeBron realized he couldn't win, where did he go?

Miami. Like you look around, there's destinations where Luca could go. Like imagine Luca plays with Nicole Jokic in Denver. Like let's say if Denver disappoints this year. Does Luca maybe try to force his way to Denver? Or does Nicole Jokic get upset and maybe try to force his way?

Like things like that that I'm just throwing out there. There are destinations, but I would think if they don't get this right this off season, Luca is going to start to think about going elsewhere. If he hasn't already, Hickey. I don't know about this off season trying to force his way out, but that's saying this off season. I don't know. I'm just, that clock is ticking. That you can only do so many moves and fail at so many moves before it's like, okay, this is never going to work.

I got to go somewhere else. And that again, it's the clock is starting to tick already on that. And he has after this year, one, two, three years left in his deal. And then he has a player option.

So I think you give it one more year, then you got two years left in that contract. And that's where the conversations really start. Zach Gelb shows CBS sports radio.

You're listening to the Zach Gelb show. Bijan Robinson is so fascinating to me on when he's going to go in this draft. Hickey, and I think Robinson is clearly viewed as more of an elite player than the two players I'm going to compare him to in Najee Harris. And then also when you had Travis ATN go, I think it was back to back actually in that draft. But when those two players did go with, we were all wondering when they would go and you ended up having to go in the first round. I think that you'll, like, I'm wondering if we'll see two go in the first round again, if you'll see Rob, if you'll see Bijan Robinson go early and then at the end of the first round, you'll get Jameer Gibbs going as well. Do you think we'll get two running backs going in the first round, even though now kind of the landscape of the position is you're better off taking a running back second round or later than taking them in the first round? Just because how many times we've seen guys have success in the second round or later and how much, pretty much it feels like the teams that win are more so running back by committee. I would say probably not. I think Bijan Robinson will be the one and only running back to go in the first round.

How early? I mean, will he go top 10? No, I don't think top 10. Not Philly? No, because that's the one team to do it. That's the one team in the top 10 that, that would do so.

I don't see, you know, a team like Seattle or, or Detroit or, you know, Atlanta, Atlanta, Chicago, it would be Philly. And I think the Eagles actually should do it because you lose Miles Sanders, who I think is a tad overrated and you bring in Rashad Penny, who all he does is get hurt. You have a Superbowl window if you're Philadelphia, you have two tremendous wide receivers in AJ Brown and Devante Smith. I know you could get a little bit younger on that offensive line, but you do got Malata who's young. You know, Dickerson is young, but eventually you got to place guys like Kelsey and Johnson on that offensive line. Now, could you use another defensive lineman? Yeah, cause Brandon Graham's getting older.

Fletcher Cox is getting older, even though both of them did come back. You did lose CJ Gardner Johnson, but you kept your other two corners as well, which it wasn't thought of that they were going to be able to keep Slay and Bradbury. So there's other areas, but if you want to talk about Sizzle, if you want to talk about Pop and a team that can afford to draft a running back in the first round, it is Philadelphia. Philadelphia could do so because there's not a ton of glaring needs. And that's kind of my philosophy when it comes to drafting a running back in the first round.

I don't like to do it, but if you're going to do so, it's a piece that could put you over the top. And when you have Sirianni, and I know now Steichen's no longer there, and you have Jalen Hurts who's such a big part of not only, you know, what they do, but then also in the run game, I think you want I think you want to take some of that load and some of that burden off of his plate and you bring in a first round running back. It is a team that I look at that if there is an ideal team to do so, I would say that it is Philadelphia where you should be able to win the NFC again. And I think the explosiveness and the star potential of Bijan Robinson, even if it's only four, three, four years, I think it'd be worth it. Like if you get like the first like few years of Zeke's career out of Bijan Robinson, and then that's it.

I would be okay with that if I'm Philadelphia, just because that window is for the next two, three years in Philly. And you make compelling points. And if you're looking at situations, if you're feeling where Jalen Carter at that point at pick 10 off the board, if Peter Skowronski off the board, then I think it's a slam dunk at that point, because like I said, there's really no other player offensive line, defensive line that I think is better, more important.

It could give you a quicker injection of life more than Bijan Robinson. Those two players are there though. I would say that they're a little bit bigger needs in terms of trying to think for the future as well and keep the window open. You could never have enough offensive lineman. And I will never fault the team that has a young quarterback that drafts at offensive lineman. But if we're talking about tackles, like my lot is young and Lane Johnson, I don't know how much longer he's going to play for, but he's still playing at an elite level.

And you had the best offensive line in football last year. He had four guys that were in the pro bowl. So I don't think even if Skowronski is there that you need to draft, like need to draft him. I don't think you need to draft him. I would if I was Philly, but like I said, if he's not there, if Jalen Carter, no, you don't have to them at this point 10, there's no player they have to have, which again is a luxury for them where they're so deep and talented where you don't have one glaring position of need that you need to make a 10. Well, if Carter's there, they will take him. And you know, Carter's not taking any visits outside of the top 10. The way that I translate that, I'm just going to go out on a limb here is that Philadelphia had a conversation with Carter's representatives and they know that they would take him if he's there at 10.

That's what it has to be. Or maybe it's sooner up the draft board, which is possible as well. But there is someone in the top 10 and Philly would be that last option that has made it abundantly clear. If your guy falls to us, whatever the reasons are, we are more than comfortable drafting him and we will end up drafting him. But if it's not the Eagles, who's a team that takes Bijan Robinson? I don't think the Texans do so at 12 with their second first round pick and they have Damian Pierce who just had a solid year. The Jets have Breece Hall.

I did see Daniel. Oh, I think it was Daniel Jeremiah who mocked the Patriots at 14. If I'm the Patriots, I think you got to take a wide receiver there instead of Bijan Robinson. Do you think Bill would take a running back that high? He's drafted running backs before in the first round now. I don't know how much we all love Lawrence Moroney.

He's good at Minnesota. Sony Michelle did play well in that Super Bowl team, but that's not like a draft pick that you look back and you're like, oh, amazing. I think Bill would pass on a running back because they do it from Andre Stevenson. Now, I do think you need another running back to kind of fill what Damian Harris did, but I don't think the Patriots would do that. Green Bay, no.

Commanders, no. Pittsburgh, no. I don't think Detroit does it when you have DeAndre Swift, even though they did lose Jamal Williams. But didn't they bring in from the Bears? David Montgomery. Montgomery. So Detroit's not going to do it.

It's like you go through this list. If it's not the Eagles, it's kind of tough to make a case for another team outside of Buffalo. Like maybe it is Buffalo. But you know who the team is that you really got to test? You tell me Bijan Robinson's there at 26. The Cowboys don't take him. Especially when you don't know what's going to happen with Tony Pollard. Tony Pollard only has a year left and he's coming off an injury. And Mike McCarthy, anytime he's talked this offseason since taking over play calling duties, he's talked about running the ball more. Yeah, but he's not really making that decision.

That's Sherri on a yacht with his grandson telling him what to do. Well, if you can convince Steven Jones, take Bijan Robinson, guy who is in Texas, shiny object, it's right up Jerry's alley. And then outside of Cincinnati wouldn't be, I don't know if he'll, I don't think he'll be there at 28, but Cincinnati to kind of go off what Solomon said, it wouldn't shock me if Joe Mixon gets traded at the draft. You know last year it was AJ Brown that got dealt. You could potentially have two running backs get traded this year at the draft, Eckler and then Joe Mixon as well. Now Philly is there.

If we could look at Philly, maybe not at 10, but 30 trading up to maybe look at Bijan Robinson, that wouldn't be out of the realm of possibilities. So if you had to pick three teams right now, who would your three teams be? I would go Eagles.

I would go Cowboys and I would go bills. Those are, I think the three most likely esteem, the likeliest teams that take Bijan Robinson. I don't think I can disagree. Honestly. Need is there. Want to is there and where also they're picking for the most part.

I don't think he's getting really, I don't think his game has Buffalo with you to be honest, but if he does slide by, then absolutely the Bengals would be the team. By the way, Marco Belletti, who is here with us El Capitan, do you know totally shifting gears here that people were calling for Hickey to be suspended? Suspended. Hickey, you got that audio?

This is on the PGP. So you know how Hickey, did you hear Hickey belch on the air? I did not. I missed that. Well, actually then we will totally rewind here. Hickey, can I have you burping on the air on the weekend overnight on early Saturday morning? This was at 5.10 AM Eastern.

So Marco was long gone by then, but here is a Hickey belching on the air. You could start to build a path towards becoming the Gonzaga of the East coast. Dominant program that plays in a smaller conference. Sorry about that. I think I just went over there. My apologies. That was a burp that slipped out. My bad.

But FAU can become the dominant, dominant program in a smaller conference, just like Gonzaga has become in the WCC and in the West coast. Marco? There's a little button that turns your mic on and off. You got to know where that is. The burp is not a problem. It's the on air is the problem. You just turn the mic off.

You do what you got to do. You turn the mic back on. I'm not sure if you're aware of this. Well, the issue is I could have sworn I turned it off. And how I knew it was over the air is I looked down after it happened and the red light was still on.

Gotcha. But I definitely tried to and I thought I did turn my mic off, hit the off button. So this was in the five ten area that you see. So we're going to blame this on, you know, twenty two straight hours awake and you just kind of didn't realize that it didn't turn the mic off.

Is this where we're going to now? I mean, you said it not me. Well, you said it not me.

Well, you did say that earlier without listening to it just made the case for me. But I will say as someone that has had those types of days as well before and Marco, who has never been one to actually sleep, I don't think I have ever burped on the air and I don't think you have either. Not like that.

And we're also in worse shape than Hickey. Well, I am, but I don't like the little bit like if you get like the, you know, not to do it where it's like, you know, like you can't hold it back and it just kind of comes up and you're, you know, almost like, you know, you have no choice. That is understandable. That one was kind of pushed out. He knew it was coming.

That one was the obvious. Just turn the mic off. You know, it's coming. You turn, you do what you got to do. And then you turn the mic back on. So that was just flat out. Sorry, right.

Incompetence of the inability of turning the mic off. That's what that was. Yeah. Yeah. Mental error, physical error. It was just a, it was an event. That's just a screw up. Bottom line. I'm not saying you're on your arms.

All right. So there are checks and balances here at CBS Sports Radio. Mraz and DA were talking about this and they are now advocating for a hickey suspension.

I suspended you for multiple weeks on the PGP for burping. Should Gelb suspend hickey? I think he should.

I think he should. Look, I think the precedent has been set here at CBS Sports Radio. Look, you got to learn that that's not okay. And simply saying I didn't mean it is not okay. Look, I didn't, well, I guess I did mean it when I burped, but I got taught a valuable lesson. I think all can admit I'm a much more mature human being than I was at burp time.

Maybe it's time hickey who's getting a lot of accolades gets reeled back a little bit. Well, suspension, no mic on on the Zach Gelb show for a week. That'll teach you a lesson. And that's a quick way to teach somebody.

Yeah. They can't, they have to sit and stew in their own thoughts and realize how punished they were. Look, you may hate the punishment, what's happened to you in real time, but ultimately it's for the better for you. I didn't feel compelled to suspend hickey. Do you think that's a bad decision by me? No, I think that's a bit over the top. And I think more concerning is that if you're going to take advice from Mraz on how you should go about your business, then I'm a little bit more concerned. Okay. So I made the right call.

Yeah. Go by your own judgment, your show, your name on it, what you want to do with your producer. DA is a different story. You want to listen to DA?

DA can teach you a lot of things. Listening to Mraz on exactly what you should do with your show on the Zach Gelb show. I think that's a bit over the top.

I think we should make hickey burp the ABCs tomorrow on the air. Can I just point out one fact, by the way, the man who claims he learned how to become more mature by having that time out for burping on the air is also the same guy who recently went number two in his pants on the air. It's a fair point. So what lesson did he exactly learn? And again, to Marco's point, if we're going to be taking Sean's advice, we sure that's the advice you want to be taken.

Again, these are things that I didn't say, but that's why I, when I let you know, you shouldn't be taking, look at the source. But it was DA who suspended him. DA is a different story, but DA was asking Mraz what he should do. Now you want to talk to DA, you want to listen to DA, you want to invite the advice, invoke the advice of DA. That's understandable.

That makes sense. When you're looking for Mraz of what to do and what not to do, I think you can find other sources that would point you in a better direction than Sean. Sean's mother, Nancy is on line one. Nancy.

No, I'm just kidding. Okay. I've never met the woman. My guess is she would agree with me.

I would think. She probably would, but on the air and in person, she would be a protector. She's like a mama bear with her cup. And rightfully so. And that's also a good showman.

That's smart. However, when you get people in the quiet moments, that's when you find out and the real character is revealed. I would think that she would probably agree with me in this. Like when she once told me at Bob's Bar, when I was there or whatever Mraz calls his bar, Bob's by the Bay. I like Sean.

I don't like Mraz. That's what she said about her own son once. I wish I could say I'm surprised. And again, never met the woman. I've heard her on the air a couple of times.

She sounds like an awesome woman. Yeah. Not surprised.

You don't want to have like a beer or two or ten with her. There's no doubt about it. Not surprised. Well, come on back with the closing bell.

Hickey is not suspended. I'll probably regret that. You're listening to The Zach Gelb Show. Another day is in the books and we're taking stock of the sports world. It's time to find out who's up and who's down. Let's end the day right and hit the closing bell.

Only on The Zach Gelb Show. Celtics got their 55th win of the season last night, defeating the Raptors 97 to 93 off the bench. Malcolm Brogdon in 35 minutes of play was 10 to 19 from the field and had 29 points, four or six from three. So give Malcolm Brogdon a stock up.

Staying in the association. Also last night, the New York Knicks, they got a victory up against the Indiana Pacers by a final score of a buck 38 to 129. We know the Knicks in the playoffs are going to be going up against the Cleveland Cavaliers. And last night, Emanuel quickly had 39 points. Quinnen Grimes had 36 points and O.B.

Toppin had 32 points. How about that, Hickey, for your New York Knicks? Go, New York, go, New York, go. Go, New York, go.

Give them a stock up. And let's go one more in the NBA. The Pelicans, who are now two games above 500, they defeat the Grizzlies a buck 38 to 131 in overtime. And Herbert Jones had a big night, 44 minutes, 35 points, seven rebounds, 11 to 21 from the field, five of eight from three.

Give him a stock up. Day one in the books at Augusta. A lot of rain expected the next few days. Jon Rahm, Victor Hovland and Brooks Koepka all tied at the top of the leaderboard. Seven under par. Give Jon Rahm, Victor Hovland and Brooks Koepka a stock up. You know, it actually concerns me, Hickey, because I have Rahm and I have Hovland outright. And after day one of the tournament, them being at the tippy top of the leaderboard, that doesn't usually bode well.

So we'll be concerned on that front. Staying with Augusta at the Masters, Will Zallatoris, we're all waiting for him to win a major. He's been so close and unfortunately had to withdraw today right before his round was about to tee off.

I think at like 130, 129, whatever the tee time was. But unfortunate news there with Will Zallatoris, so give him a stock down. The Baltimore Ravens. You know what's crazy, Hickey? There's not many times you could call them a joke. But the way that they have handled this Lamar Jackson situation, and I'm pretty sure it was Chad Steele who had to interrupt the reporter at this pre-draft press conference and this pre-draft availability, and they're just asking if the team's gonna be interested in a quarterback and you have a coach and a GM, and you have to interrupt them and go, well, we're not taking any questions about Lamar Jackson. That's just ridiculous. For an organization that has been one of those standard organizations for the last 20 years, that's minor league. It's like the Baltimore Orioles, like double AA affiliate.

What a joke that is. Give the Baltimore Ravens a stock down. All righty, and that's the Zach Gelb show on CBS Sports Radio. Hickey, what do we have tap guest-wise tomorrow?

Just go through the guest list if you don't mind real quickly. We have Brenton Strange, former Penn State now NFL draft prospect tight end in studio. We have also Rich Hammond, who does a Rams podcast to finish out the QB Carousel for 2023. And then we have the Diamondbacks president coming out at seven to talk a little D-backs and also brand new rules in MLB. Look at that, and I am working, working, working, working on a little UFC preview tomorrow.

Big card this weekend coming up on Saturday down on South Beach. All righty, we out. We'll talk to you tomorrow at 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific right here on the Zach Gelb show on CBS Sports Radio. Talk to you tomorrow then. All right, Rangers just scored a goal. That's why I'm stuttering at the end. Got a little excited. Bye-bye. Peace.
