If you haven't been on your phone, if you haven't been on your phone today, if you haven't been in your car, and you're currently leaving work right now, and you had no contact with the outside world, do me a favor, pull over. If you're a fan of the Panthers or the Bears, take some deep breaths. If you're a fan of the Colts or the Raiders, things just got a whole lot tougher for you because the Chicago Bears have traded the number one overall pick. The Panthers now are on the clock with the number one overall pick. The Bears fall back to nine. They get 61 in this year's draft, a 2024 first rounder, a 2025 second rounder, and DJ Moore is now the number one target for one Justin Fields, and Joe Person, who does a great job covering the Panthers for the athletic, he is reporting that the Panthers will say they are keeping their options open regarding which QB they'll take.

They should, but the sense around the league is they're going up for CJ Shroud, and that is what Joe Person from the athletic has right now. So Hickey, let's just operate, and I know this is a miserable, awful, terrible, brutal day for you because you wanted the Indianapolis Colts to go get Bryce Young. Now you gave me like a look, you were basically attending your own funeral in the first hour. Are you now doing the Undertaker gift, rise from the dead, and you're now, when you already admitted the dream was dead for Bryce Young, are you still entertaining the idea that Bryce Young is still available at three and your team would have to trade up cuz the Texans pass on, and the Texans are taking Bryce Young.

The door's open, one less team to worry about. You thought I was dead an hour ago, I still am dead, but the casket kicked open. Little pulse? I went from zero to like a five pulse. Well, what's normal blood pressure, 200, something like that, right?

I don't know exactly, I'm not a doctor. You think I paid attention in school? It's like 90, whatever it is. I slept through that. I'm like at a, it was a zero an hour ago, now I'm like a five. I'm barely breathing, but still alive. Well, I hate to say it, I'm gonna pull the plug now. No, no, no, no, no, no, it's not two, no, no, no, I did not sign the form, no pulling the plug. As Kramer said, I'm sticking.

Well, the plug just fell out. And that is it for the Bryce Young dream at two, or at three, cuz he's going at two. So let's just say it is shroud one, it is Young at two. Do you wanna move up to three, so you could go get the third quarterback and not have the fourth quarterback, assuming a team like the Raiders jump you?

Honestly, I hate to give a non answer, I'm not sure yet. I gotta see, cuz for me when it comes down to, Will Love is out of the picture. Anthony Richardson versus Henson Hooker. Do wanna sit there, probably get Henson Hooker, I think in early round two, the Colts have the fourth pick in round two. Or do you trade up to get Anthony Richardson? I have not made that determination yet, in part because I did not even think Henson Hooker's name was a reality at all, and here we are.

So I'm not sure if giving up some assets for Anthony Richardson in a project is worth it, you sit tight, you draft whoever. I'm surprised your brain hasn't gone in one line of thinking yet. Which is what? If I'm running your podcast, what's your podcast, The Blue Horseshoe? The Blue Horseshoe Pod. With Greg and Ryan Hickey. George. Oh, George.

With George and myself. Colts fans, it'll be a funeral tonight, but tune in. This is what I need you to do. I was the first person to tell you to advocate for Bryce Young.

You waited a month, your team waited, they waited a month to tank, and then you finally saw what I was saying. You know what you need to do tonight? You need to record an emotional plea to Jim Irsay to go give a fully guaranteed contract to Lamar Jackson, and you give two first round picks up to the Baltimore Ravens and you get Lamar Jackson. You don't think Bryce Young's gonna be there? You think he's going two to the Texans?

If CJ Stroud goes one or whatever, it's gonna be one, two, Stroud, Young, whatever order, you know, whichever QB you prefer, go ahead, the reports right now say it's gonna be CJ Stroud to the Panthers. So then absolutely the Texans are gonna pounce on Bryce Young. Instead of wishing and hoping that Anthony Richardson or Will Levis develop into something, or you go down the crazy road of, well, we'll just stink next year and maybe we'll get the number one overall pick or the number two overall pick for Caleb Williams or Drake May, and I understand the thought of that, but it seems like whenever we say one team should tank, they never end up finding a way to get the number one overall pick. Like everyone thought the Texans would have the number one overall pick this year, and now they're sitting at two. A few years back, everyone thought the Miami Dolphins were gonna have the number one overall pick.

They ended up falling back to five, and Burrow, who no one was even talking about, ended up going number one. If I am a Colts fan, I am begging my owner, Jim Irsay, who by the way, guaranteed, guaranteed two Lombardi trophies in the next decade, I think you need to do whatever it takes and give the deal, or at least bare minimum give $200 million fully guaranteed to Lamar Jackson, and you give up the two first round picks, and you go get Lamar Jackson to the Indianapolis Colts. Your thoughts?

It just crossed my mind. I'm not ready to go there yet. I gotta wait till the draft, see how the draft shakes out first. See what the Texans do if they continue to be idiotic, which I mean, they've cleaned out almost every idiot possible, but hopefully- You got a lot of idiots in that South. In the AFC South, you got a lot of idiots. You do, so I think you gotta take your chance and take a gamble and see what the Texans do.

Khabak Nair still is there, so again, that's king idiot right there, so hopefully he intercedes. If not, I got to see what the price is. I am nervous about giving Lamar Jackson a fully guaranteed deal. I am nervous about giving Lamar Jackson or giving up all these assets for Lamar with his injury history. I'm not saying he's not, but the reality is he's been injured a ton the last two years.

His playoff record's not very good, and for what the Colts have to give up, again, you're talking about a team where they're a worse team than the Ravens, so if Lamar had his own struggles with the Ravens, the Colts, it's gonna take a year or two to build up to get a team that's equal and or better. But here's what I think you're a little hypocritical. I'm nervous.

Here's the one thing where I'm confused. When Russell Wilson got traded to the Broncos, forget about what happened this year. You didn't think the Broncos really gave up that much of a haul. When Deshaun Watson got traded to the Browns, you thought the Browns could have even given up more to go get him. Like, I remember you saying that. All you need to do now is give a fully guaranteed contract to Lamar Jackson, who's 26, and all you give up is two first round picks.

I would think by your standard, that's pretty low for the hickey standard. I know it's a fully guaranteed deal, but let's be real. If Lamar Jackson turns out to be this injury-prone quarterback and it doesn't work, you're right back to where you are right now, looking for that next quarterback of the future in the draft three, four years from now.

Yeah, I'm not trying to wait another three or four years. But that's why you go get Lamar. No, the thing about Lamar compared to the other two deals is I thought both quarterbacks were better than Lamar, and I thought both teams that were going to were in better situations than what the Colts are right now, so you didn't need those draft picks as much because you didn't need to plug as many holes, I thought, for the Broncos and the Browns on the surface when the trade was made, as you do for the Colts if they were to get Lamar, let's say. If you had to pick two teams for the foreseeable future in the AFC South that you have the most confidence in, out of the four, who would it be? Jaguars, for sure. Which is crazy, too. Yes. But what they've done in the last year, Trent Balke went from being a clown to now people like Trent Balke, Doug Peterson was an excellent hire, and Trevor Lawrence continues to show that he was the quarterback that we all thought he was. But after that, you know who I trust the most? And I would never have said this probably four or five weeks ago, it's the Texans.

It really is. I like D'Amico Ryans, you're now going to get Bryce Young. I know Tennessee has a heck of a coach in Mike Vrabel, but that roster, they're going to have to completely rebuild it, it seems like. Ryan Tannehill isn't a franchise quarterback. Derrick Henry has one year left in the contract. We had him on Paul Kowarski yesterday, and he said he only thinks that the Titans could get back a fourth round pick for Derrick Henry, and your best player is a running back.

We all know Derrick Henry is great, but that team is not where they were a few years ago. I look at the Texans now, yeah, Casario is still a question mark, but they're sitting there with two picks in the first round this year, they're going to get their quarterback, and you have a coach that people like? The Jaguars are clearly the best team in the AFC South right now, and they're the team that you have to trust the most because of who their coach is and who their quarterback is. But after that, I can't trust this Colts regime. I don't even know who the GM is going to be next year. And for Tennessee, I love the coach, I don't know what Rand Carthon is, and I don't know who's going to be our quarterback for the next five years. For the Texans, I'll take the gamble on D'Amico Ryan's Mufasa ending up being a really good coach in this league, but most importantly, if that's true that Shroud goes one, and this is something we've been in lockstep with, that I like CJ Shroud more than you do. But we've both been in lockstep that Bryce Young is the best quarterback in the draft. If this goes according to plan right now, where the Panthers just moved up to one to go draft CJ Shroud, you're the Texans, I know you could mess up a young quarterback. The Colts did it with Andrew Luck, you get Bryce Young. That's a pretty big foundational piece there for the Houston Texans. Here's why I would still say the Titans. I hate to say it, you know me, I hate the Titans.

Wow, I'm shocked by that. The only certainty- Because you've disrespected the Titans for the last three years. Oh, I have. You've danced on their grave and they've never been dead. Well, that's a thing. I don't know if I would say dance on their grave because you have to be dead in order to do that.

I've maybe thought they would be dead and projected their death, but- No, you bury them in the ground and then you never put the body in the casket and then you were stepping on their grave at the cemetery. But it all comes down to when it comes to trust, quarterback and head coach, right? And obviously the Jaguars have right now precede both Doug Peterson, really good coach and Trevor Lawrence, we think is going to be a really good quarterback.

The only other certainty in that division right now is Mike Rabel. So yeah, there's questions about Ryan Tannehill stinks and we have no idea what their GM's going to be. But also too, let's not forget with the Texans here, there's been reports this week, all throughout this week, that they're interested in Jimmy G. They have come out of the Texans and admitted it basically that they have looked at Jimmy G. They think that could be a plan because you have their offensive coordinator, Tamika Ryan's both coming over from the 49ers. If you're signing Jimmy G, that tells me at least, you're not taking Bryce Young or CJ Stroud. You're going to take a guy like Anthony Richardson or Will Levis, sit them behind a guy like Jimmy G and basically do- They also don't have Jimmy G yet. But the 49ers did in kind of taking the project, the wild card in Trey Lance and go for maybe the biggest upside in the draft if anything works out. If that's the plan that they go down, if they signed Jimmy G and if it's Anthony Richardson or Will Levis, there are two, can't say they're going to say the Texans are doing it right. Can't say they trust the Texans to execute that plan to perfection. Do you actually think that's going to happen though? Is that just you? You think they're drafting Richardson or Levis at two?

Why else would you sign Jimmy G? No, no, no. Now hold on. Now you're confusing me. An hour ago, you said there's no way, you agree with me when I said this, you said there's no way that Bryce Young was going to be there.

That's right. In the first two picks. I thought the Panthers were going to get Bryce Young.

My calculus changed. You got CJ Stroud. And again, if they signed Jimmy G- You are a piece of work. Now it's dependent upon, my projections depended upon what they do at quarterback.

All right, do me a favor right now. Top four picks in the draft, go ahead. Number one, Panthers. Who are they taking? Reports say CJ Stroud.

Okay. Number two, who are the Texans taking? I am going to say Bryce Young right now, but if they sign Jimmy G, that changes everything.

Like you said, they haven't changed. Let me ask you this. They haven't signed Jimmy G, but next week- Why can't you sit Bryce Young for a year or two?

Why would you? He doesn't have to. He's the most NFL ready guy that there is. There's no reason to sit him. Maybe they think it benefits a young quarterback to sit for a little bit. I think you are signing Jimmy G and sitting a quarterback for a year if it's a project and we know there's two NFL ready quarterbacks in the top four and there's two projects in the top four. Again, to me, you signed Jimmy G, that signals you're going more the project route because you don't have to sign a Jimmy G, play him and Jimmy G's not going to the Texans to sit by the way.

To be fair- He's playing. You're right, but to be fair, the same report that you're reading, Jimmy Garoppolo likely to draw interest from Raiders, Panthers, Texans. Those are the three teams listed. The Panthers just moved up to the number one spot, so they're out.

I would imagine the Texans are going to be out. Maybe it's the Raiders now with the familiarity there. When I go through that report and logically just think about this right now, and I think logic actually has to prevail here, just from this report that was out two days ago, Jimmy Garoppolo likely to draw interest from Panthers, Raiders, and Texans, I gotta think Panthers and Texans are drafting a quarterback and the Raiders are the one that are gonna go get Jimmy J. Well, it's not just interest, it's Jonathan Jones had it. There's an eternal push to sign Jimmy G. They're OC Bobby Slowik, I think it's how you pronounce it, Slowik Slowik.

Yeah, he talked about it. And you know what? So they're talking about- He may have been tampering, he may have been tampering and now he may not be able to get him. It's like when the Milwaukee Bucks had- Take away the first round pitch.

Number two, see you later, take it away, penalize him NFL, come on, Roger Yale, come down, slam the hammer down, do the right thing, Roger. You are a child and I love it. No, I'm just, I'm being, I'm trying to be honestly realistic. Bryson's probably not gonna be there, but if the Texans are flirting with Jimmy G, you really think they're gonna sign Jimmy G and then also draft- I don't think they're signing Jimmy G. Then why is there an internal push? They might, they might not, and this all could be for nothing. But if they're pushing for Jimmy G, that tells you that at least for me, they're gonna go for the home run swing.

You should change professions. Just moving the goalposts further and further and further. An hour ago, you said the Bryce Young dream is dead, dunzo, finish, turn out the lights, the party's over, the fat lady was singing. And now all of a sudden, it's, hold on a second folks, I'm gonna give you the verbal diarrhea that Bryce Young's not gonna go in the first two picks of the draft. No, no, I'm not saying he's not, I'm telling you the door that's open, that's all I'm doing. Anything I just said the last five minutes is not a lie.

It's all truth and it's all based on reports that have been reported from actual reporters. Not me hoping and saying, please this one time, please pass on Bryce Young. This is just regurgitating what trusted NFL insiders have been talking about. Who's starting at quarterback for the Colts? Don't give me an I don't know, don't give me an I don't know, come on.

What do you think happens? Let me ask you this, fine, fine. Do they draft the quarterback in the first round? Yes or no?

Yes. Who is it? I hate to say it, probably Richardson, which means they're gonna probably sign Gardner Minshew and have Gardner Minshew be the week one starter and most likely the 2023 starter. Maybe they signed Jimmy G on a two year deal and you got Richardson sit for two full years. Now that's always a dangerous game to play because patience doesn't usually prevail.

So either way, you had your own destiny and you lost it. So you think it's Anthony Richardson and Gardner Minshew? That would be right now an hour, two hours after hearing the disgusting news. Yes. I thought it was great.

That would be my projection right now, Anthony Richardson and Gardner Minshew. We got Panthers fans who are listening to us. Congratulations, Carolina.

I love Frank Reichen. That ain't making me root against them. That are doing cartwheels in the streets. We got Bears fans that are doing the worm right now and you're just raining on their parade because your football team, once again, you're incompetent organization failed to do the right thing. Like, why do you keep on giving them the benefit of the doubt? You should be annoyed. But your football team who loves to preach aggressiveness and loves to make these big bad social media videos and loves to have Jim Irsay guarantee championships, they sat on their hands and did nothing while now the Texans probably going to have Bryce Young and the Panthers are going to get CJ Stroud. And your team is sitting on their hands, not ready to fight. That's unacceptable.

Picking a team. Chris Ballard probably just lost his job. Change your fandom.

Actually, I think he definitely lost his job. Who would you root for if it wasn't the Colts can't be the AFC, right? You didn't know. No, we're not doing. You played this game before. I don't know.

The Rams. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.

I can't give an answer right now. How about the Bears? You like Justin Fields, your big fields guy. I hate them now. Sure.

True. The Colts. I got good news for you. Can I give you good news? Got breaking news for you. Let's hear it, the Texans are trading out of two.

Bryce, no. Penn State is on an 8-0 run in the last minute and 13 seconds up 25-21 against Northwestern. I'm just thawing out now and enjoying that.

But yes, that sucked the life out of me. You know what? I'll text my guy, Pat Kraft, the AD of Penn State. I'll tell him to send you some Penn State gear, maybe like a cloth to wipe up your tears as well. And that will try to cheer you up.

Step right up here, don't be shy. The Super Bowl is over, but the NFL quarterback carousel is just beginning. You could ask yourself a question.

Do I feel lucky? What does the future hold for all 32 NFL teams at the QB position? Now I'm going to give you an opportunity to spin this wheel right here. Let's spin the wheel and find out which teams we hit today. The Pittsburgh Steelers. All right, let's go out to the fan in Pittsburgh, just tremendous job and the fan morning show that of course is Colin Dunlap. Colin, we'll talk about the Steelers in just a second, but I know you love the NFL.

What is your takeaway from this big deal that just went down? The Bears falling back to 9, getting the 61st pick in this year's draft, the first in 2024, second in 2025 in DJ Moore, and Carolina moves into the number one slot. Does Carolina really think Anthony Richardson is this good? I don't think it's Richardson. Imagine if it is.

I don't know. You know, if that's the value and that's what they have to give up to move up to get their number one guy, so be it. Carolina making moves.

I like it. I like the offensive staff that they've assembled in Carolina. And I think that they're looking to strike quick and looking to be good on offense right away.

How can you blame them? You look at now the Bears receiving room, they have DJ Moore, you know this being a Steelers guy, they just got Chase Claypool. How do you kind of view that receiving room right now moving forward for the Bears? Any receiving room is toxic as long as Chase Claypool's in it.

I'll just be frank with you. It's not Antonio Brown level toxic, but Chase Claypool, one of the reasons, if not the main reason why he was shuttled out of Pittsburgh for a pick that some people thought was that the Steelers kind of didn't get enough for was, you know, that Chase Claypool ended up being a pain in the backside. And it surfaced not real deep into his Bears career either.

And I'm not like dogging a guy as he's on his way out of town here in Pittsburgh. It just ended up being he ended up being a problem and he couldn't coexist with Deontay Johnson. Talk right now to Colin Dunlap. When you look back at year one as we're doing a QB carousel on the Pittsburgh Steelers and you look back at Kenny Pickett, what did you like and what are some things you think he needs to improve on? It is the ultimate 12 game sample size of I don't know really what I saw. The offensive line was great. The Steelers are going nowhere with Matt Canada employed as the offensive coordinator.

It doesn't matter who their quarterback is. But it was 12 games. His completion percentage was I don't have the numbers in front of me. It was like 65 percent I think. It was six touchdowns to nine interceptions, something thereabouts. And I think it was like a 75 or 76 quarterback rating.

It was if you got a report card it was incomplete but that's kind of what we expected. I think if the Steelers had to do it all over again they would have told Mitch Trubisky to sit down and camp and from day one. The miscalculation was that Kenny Pickett should have been the man the day he walked in the door. And that's the thing I never got and that's why I called Mitch Trubisky Mitch Trubusky because it made no sense to me and we know the guy's a bust but why they would start him week one when we all knew that Kenny Pickett and I know this wasn't a great draft class from a year ago only one guy went in the first round it was Pickett but everyone said he's the most ready NFL starter in this class. Mike Tomlin said that which was so curious. So if the curve was going to be what it was going to be which was flatter than most and he was so much that I mean this was a big talk too.

How much older he was than everybody else. So why not play him from day one and then you'd you would speed up and accelerate that learning curve whether it was a little shallower or even steep as normal quarterbacks are. And then whatever happened in week six would have happened in week three whatever happened in week 10 would have potentially happened in you know week six and you would have expedited everything I don't understand and I think it was a gross miscalculation on the Steelers part. So they go into this year and you're still left wondering when you don't have a definitive answer on what he is. Why did Tomlin bring back Canada. Oh no idea.

I don't know. I'll tell you this. Mike Tomlin has been loathe on the offensive side of the football in particular to ever hire an up and comer or someone who sort of challenges his authority.

He's like that kind of in wide form. They they tell you tell me the last time you heard a Steelers assistant interviewed for a head coaching job Brian Flores doesn't count either because it was the only place he could land was in Pittsburgh. But other than him there are no rising people in the coaching ranks. Nobody goes from here anywhere.

There's none of those whiz kids that you know have a pencil behind their ear and a drawn up place. They never hire those guys. I think it comes down to authority and Mike Tomlin doesn't like anybody to be a bigger dog than him in that room. Now when you look at Belichick I know his guys get hired but none of them really turn out to be any good. But the approach on offense has been very similar and I know Bill adapted and brought in Bill O'Brien someone he trusts but last year it made no sense why Patricia and judges running that offense and it makes no sense why Canada is back for Tomlin and the Steelers. I agree with you.

It makes absolutely zero sense and nobody here gets it. And at some point you know Mike Tomlin has gone a long time doing this. The one guy that had success you know Ken Wisenhunt had some success. Obviously Bruce Arians had success and he was forced to retire so to speak. But any time this happens and Mike Tomlin has gone on and not had offensive coaches that have had any modicum of success at this point it's in Art Rooney the second situation. He allows Tomlin to have full reign over the you know over the whole hiring process. It's become a farce and you know if I were to ask people about this they wouldn't answer this.

They couldn't they wouldn't know the answer. They think the Steelers are much better than what they are. The Pittsburgh Steelers have three playoff wins in 13 seasons.

People don't think that because of how tradition laden the organization is because of what that logo stands for. And they never bottom out Colin. Like they they they always even in a bad season they're either 500 or above. Yeah well show me the trophies for not having losing seasons. You know the Jacksonville Jaguars right now are probably better positioned than the Pittsburgh Steelers. Oh yeah especially in that division too.

Correct that they bottomed out right. Yep Colin Dunlap here with us. So I know Phillip Poni Andrew Phillip Poni who does afternoons on your station on a scale of one to 10. His love of Kenny Pickett's out of 20 on one to 10.

What is your number on your love for Kenny Pickett six and a half seven because I don't know. They've got to get offensive lineman they've got to get a left tackle. I mean it's got to happen. They've got to draft Skowronski if he's there. I think that has to happen. That's a good pitch name too by the way.

Oh it's a tremendous Pittsburgh name. I would trade Deontay Johnson right now. Everyone would take him tries overrated. He's an insanely overrated and drops the football in gigantic situations. Jack or Zach.

Excuse me. I would trade him right now if I could accrue picks. I would hope the heck that Calvin Austin can play who's coming back from injury. You saw him at Memphis. I know that you know he was high on a lot of people's boards. They drafted him he got hurt right away. And I would hope in that second or third round or second or third pick that the Steelers have Zay Flowers was there and I would draft him right away.

And that's the move I would make. George Pickens. You guys got to be in love with him.

What he showed. Are there any concerns about him. George Pickens next year will be a top five receiver in the AFC and in the next two years will be a top five receiver in the NFL. No question.

The only thing is you've got to make sure it doesn't go off the rails. I mean that's why he was drafted where he was drafted. And that is too part of the concern with he and Deontay Johnson in the same receiver room. There is going to be Mark my words and I'm kind of here for it because we're in the controversy business when George Pickens becomes the bona fide number one receiver the Pittsburgh Steelers very early in this 2023 season Deontay Johnson ain't going to like it and it will cause a diva on diva rift in Pittsburgh and it's going to be something to see because Deontay Johnson thinks he's the undisputed undeniable number one guy in Pittsburgh and George Pickens has a whole lot to say about it and quite frankly Kenny Pickens works better with George Pickens than he does with Deontay Johnson. I want everyone to hold hands.

I want Deontay Johnson and George Pickens to hold hands and be friends and for them to work in Pittsburgh for you Colin Dunlap. Right. OK. You're in the same business I'm in. You don't want anything to get along or anybody to get along Zach. Don't fool me. Colin Dunlap appreciate the time. Thank you my friend. All right Zach. Take it easy. Thanks for having me. You got it.

There is Colin Dunlap who is never afraid to give an opinion. OK. We'll take a break. We'll come on back. We'll update you on the poll question who won the deal between the Bears and the Panthers at first glance.

Bears falling back to nine. They get another first round pick. Another second round pick in future drafts. A second round pick in this year's draft and the biggest kicker of them all.

D.J. Moore going from Carolina to the Chicago Bears. But Hickey now everyone's looking at the Panthers and they're saying who are they going to take with the number one overall pick. So we read you the report earlier from Joe Person from the Athletic.

This report went out there at 642 p.m. Eastern Time. The Panthers will say they're keeping their options open regarding which QB they'll take. They should but the sense around the league is they're going up for C.J. Stroud.

Now 12 minutes before that Joe Person had this tweet. Panthers now control the draft. A source said Scott Fitterer and Frank Reich have conviction on a couple of QBs at the top if they end up liking more than one they could potentially trade down.

I'll throw a theory out here. Do the Texans actually really like C.J. Stroud that much? Where now the Panthers move into the number one spot and they really like Bryce Young and they're going to flaunt out there how much they like C.J.

Stroud. And maybe the Texans who are in at two will move up to one. Panthers will get some draft capital back. Texans get their guy in Bryce Young or get their guy in C.J. Stroud and then the Panthers end up getting Bryce Young.

I guess what I would say to that is is it truly worth it? Like if you were to do that, would you view you as like the 49ers Bears, remember the Bears traded up one pick to go get Mitch Trubisky because they were afraid that the 49ers were going to take him. Obviously that did not end up happening and we'd laugh at the Bears for that stupid trade up.

Could we be looking at that with the Panthers but the opposite where they try to play this cute game of oh we're going to fool the Texans. We really want Bryce Young but we think they love C.J. Stroud so we're going to say we love C.J.

Stroud. Get I don't know maybe a second round pick back. Let's say they go from two to one and all of a sudden they take Bryce Young and you're sitting there going oh actually we wanted Bryce Young. We still like C.J. Stroud but we wanted Bryce Young to be our number one guy. Now we're sitting here and we got our you know second pick. Now don't get me wrong. I don't think that's the reason why you make this move but I don't think this deal just came out of out of the air today. I think this is something that they've been working on.

Oh yeah. So maybe it's just odd to me that person who's a very well-sourced and well-respected reporter covering the Panthers 12 minutes prior to his tweet about C.J. Stroud he put out the Panthers now control the draft a source said Scott Fitter and Frank Reich give conviction on a couple of QBs at the top if they end up liking more than one they could potentially trade down source to say. That seemed like the Panthers really weren't giving him anything and then all of a sudden 12 minutes later you have a whole story up that's written. It's a tweet and a story and maybe someone associated with the Panthers got in his ear and is trying to push C.J.

Stroud for whatever the reasons are. Whether it's genuine and they love him or it's okay let's see how we could play a little mind games and keep some teams on their toes because Scott Fitter always says he takes every phone call he evaluates everything going back to his time when he was with Seattle. Now what I do wonder is obviously that the timing of the tweet person the first we talked about they like multiple quarterbacks it came out obviously after the trade-up was made but I wonder like if that was information he got. Wait what do you mean? Like the trade-up happened and then Joe Parson put out the tweet about liking multiple quarterbacks so there wasn't beforehand but I wonder if he loved that information because that's what he heard in maybe days and hours previous and I wonder if that's not like an old report but I wonder if that was kind of maybe the notion the Panthers trying to put out there.

It's an old report. In order to lower the price of what the Bears were asking for because they could say look you're asking for the sky the stars and the moon we'll give this guy the stars guess what we love multiple guys so we don't have to trade-up with you we could trade-up with the Cardinals at three we can go up to five with the Seahawks. I just wonder if the Panthers trying to play a little chess here like hey look we don't have to trade-up with you we like different quarterbacks so.

I have no clue what you're saying you know what I just did there I opened up Pandora's box. Well no I'm just saying I wonder if that's what Joe Parson is saying about the multiple quarterbacks is a little bit of older information because that's what the the Panthers wanted out there to lower the price than the Bears because they were basically telling the Bears we don't have to trade-up with you and they're like three quarterbacks let's say you don't have to go to number one. If you're the Panthers you say we love Richardson, Bryce Young and T.D. Stroud and we're gonna talk to the Cardinals instead of you because you're asking for too much we're gonna go from nine to three because whoever's there at three we're still gonna like so we don't really need like they're almost trying to reverse the power shift of the Bears saying oh well give us we were asking for all of this and the Bears are trying to you know be in the power chair if you will and the Panthers I think are trying to grab some power back by saying look we like multiple guys so you're not the only team we're talking to. That's fine then they would have made a trade with someone else and they would have probably then taken the extra takes.

Well maybe they did only like T.D. Stroud and that's why the trade was made but I'm saying that's why I think that could possibly be the reason why that report of multiple quarterbacks is out there. I would imagine that the toughest point of contention and the biggest point of contention in these trade negotiations was D.J. Moore because I don't think the Panthers wanted to give up D.J. Moore and the Bears probably had to come down on their price because they wanted D.J. Moore in the deal and that was probably the toughest part of these negotiations. Who won the trade? Early returns right now 83 percent say the Bears, 17 percent say the Carolina Panthers and if you're a Panthers fan right now listening one of our great affiliates W.F.N.Z.

you don't panic if you get your guy and you have the number one overall pick and if that quarterback turns out to be a stud yes the Bears already think they have their guy and they're trying to surround them with the right pieces. Right now obviously we're all going to look at the Bears and say they won the deal but if you end up getting your franchise quarterback it could be a deal where three four years from now we go oh both teams really benefited from this greatly. All right let's get to the biggest stories in the world of sports with some audio.

We call this segment The News Brief. There's only one thing Hickey that can make this day better than it already is and that is Mark Murphy unfiltered with the State of the Union talking about the Packers. This is the ABC Green Bay Mark Murphy on why he's allowing Aaron Rodgers to communicate with the JTS Jets. It's a situation where I think we wanted to help Aaron achieve what he wanted as well as the Packers and hopefully create a situation where it's kind of a win for both sides. I love how the Packers still are not being honest. The reason why they allowed him to talk with the Jets is because they don't want him.

Now I know he said that pretty much but it was at the back end of the statement. The first thing was we want Aaron to try to accomplish what he wants to accomplish what we do as well. It is so clear Hickey that Aaron Rodgers no longer wants it anymore in Green Bay. We've talked about now for two weeks and again at this point someone someone blink.

I don't care who does someone say it's over there like it's not Murphy saying everything is telling you it's over except in the actual words it's over. Now here's the craziest part only one team has really showed serious interest or been granted permission to talk to them. And you would think more teams would be interested in Aaron Rodgers but that ain't the case. And if you remember when Brady was a free agent not as many teams thought were we're interested as we would have thought they were. It seems like only one is interested right now at the Jets and the Dolphins are out of it they just gave the fifth year option to a tongue of Aloha. I never thought they were actually in it but some people did speculate that Mark Murphy says it's very rare for players to play for one team in their entire career happens in our game you know nobody very few players play for only one team. And you know obviously Brad had a great career Aaron had a great career here and regardless of what happens you know Aaron will be in the pro football Hall of Fame will be in our Hall of Fame and we'll bring him back and retire his number.

But this is just one of the things that you go through as a team and you know again want to try to achieve something that's good for both Aaron and us. Where is he at when he's speaking Hickey. He's at a high school women's basketball tournament at UW Green Bay. OK. So in the background is probably warm up music.

I thought he was either at like an opera or some sort of church with some of the music in the back. High school women's basketball championships in Green Bay. Get lit. Mark Murphy says he expects an answer in Aaron Rodgers future very very soon once again ABC Green Bay. I think ideally for everybody would be to have this resolved before the start of free agency in March March 15.

This is getting done by this weekend. There's no doubt about it in my mind I'm surprised by now that it hasn't already got done. But when the legal tampering period opens up on Monday when we start the show on Monday I would think Aaron Rodgers even though won't be official yet he'll be a member of the New York Jets like I would be stunned at this point Hickey if that's not the case. I can't argue against that at this point seems like no one else is interested we're all we're waiting on is basically either the trade details or the contract details like something's just getting higher now. What we're waiting on is for Rodgers to say this is the team that I want to go to because the Packers are showing you right now they have their tail in between their legs and they're refusing to say that they don't want Aaron Rodgers even though they've given you every sign that they don't want him anymore and they want Rodgers to come to them and say I don't want to be there anymore instead of just saying hey we know you don't want to be here we don't want you as well we're trading you to the Jets do you want to accept boom done and the deal is over and that's the frustrating part here the Packers like have some cojones here you drafted Jordan Love you set up the departure of Aaron Rodgers and now you're begging him to say that he wants a divorce the optics of this are just so bleeping stupid they really are they're just dumb optics and if I had to be honest here the Packers want Rodgers out of Green Bay more than Rodgers probably wants out of Green Bay so put your big boy pants on Green Bay enough Mark Murphy says the team is very excited for Jordan Love to play yeah we have a lot of confidence in him I think you know you know he's we drafted him and developed him a lot of credit goes to our coaches you know and to Jordan no but we do think he's ready all right let's go to Aaron Rodgers next team that's probably the Jets sauce gardener Breece Hall and Garrett Wilson they burn a cheese head to show their support of Aaron Rodgers this on the sauce gardener YouTube channel it's gone man it's gone bro gone man ain't nothing we can do it look at the cheese it's milling it's turning the cheese sauce bro look it's turning the cheese sauce though oh bro y'all see that really turned into cheese sauce man it ain't even there no more we could we should have got some s'mores bro we should have got some s'mores we could have been eating good we could have been eating real good that's awesome and a whole lot different from sauce gardener when he joined us on the show and basically wanted no part of the Rodgers questions now he's burning a cheese head that's awesome finally Les Snead says the Rams are not trading Matthew Stafford I think we're gonna definitely rely on Matthew he's definitely one of our pillars as we do remodel this and we can figure out what we want to call this the reason I said remodel not rebuild is to me in a rebuild you would just bulldoze the house down and begin rebuilding from the ground up however you want to call it this Rams team is nowhere close to winning again and honestly if I'm the Rams you know I would trade two guys that would be taking phone calls on Aaron Donald and Cooper Cup Aaron Donald what another year or two he's playing at most it seems like and for Cooper Cup he's coming off an injury so maybe you want to see him play a little bit but we all know how great of a player he is this is this has gone south real quickly with this team and if I'm the Rams it seems like so many guys have one footed one foot out so damaging what Schefter tweeted regarding Bobby Wagner he wanted to go to a winner the Rams are nowhere close to win it again even being competent again so therefore I would just trade off your biggest assets right now and try to get some picks back and no longer say F those draft picks betus.com is back for our 20th year of NFL action with the industry's biggest signup bonus of up to 20% betus offers our members the chance to cash in on all your favorite sports sign up at betus.com or call 1-800-79-betus where the game begins.
