Time for your daily news brief. We get you caught up on the rumors, reports and reconnaissance from the day in sports. Tommy Brady returned to Tampa today to now once again be an NFL football player and not just be vacationing, but the GOAT could do GOAT things.

And if you want to go take a 10-day vacation or 11-day vacation, an all-inclusive resort with your family, which is how bunching be in your life, I'm not going to criticize you. I'm not going to be that talk show host that questions the commitment level of one TB12. Todd Bolzdo on how Tom Brady fit into practice after missing 11. This is really a question. Nicky, are you serious?

I'm dead serious. This was asked. How does the greatest quarterback of all time who's getting ready to embark on his 23rd season fit into the team that if it wasn't for the fact him being there, they'd be in a relevant organization. How does he fit in after missing 11 days of practice?

Go ahead, Todd. He's very familiar with the offense. So him coming back in and us getting back to work is kind of normal.

It's getting used to the heat and getting used to the guys. But you know, he ran the offense well. That's kind of Todd Bolz. I know that's the way that Todd Bolz speaks. He's very quiet.

It doesn't really give you much, but you could just hear the laughter and the disdain at his voice for probably even the question. Yeah, I know. He's got to deal with the heat. You don't think it was hot in his all inclusive vacation. Where was he in the Bahamas? I was just going to say, what do we deal with the heat?

Is it the same thing? Huh? Maybe there's somewhere else. Maybe he was not in the Bahamas after all.

Ah, maybe, maybe you're onto something. Maybe you got to be, and maybe Alaska producer is going to become the 31st NFL team and he's working on, you know, building a stadium there called 33rd. I should say 33rd NFL team.

Excuse me. Jay in Alaska? Oh, he would love Tom. Imagine putting Jay in Alaska in that spot.

Todd hired Ray to his friend, still upset about the tuck rule 20 years later. 58 degrees right now in Alaska. That's, you go from Alaska to Tampa, deal with the heat change. Especially if you're an older person and you're used to that weather in Florida. 58 degrees, you're bringing out the North face, you get in the earmuffs on, scarves, all that stuff.

Two blankets at night when you're sleeping for Tom Brady. Yeah. Oh, and my grandmother's house this past weekend and she's an old person in Florida.

Let me remind you. 91 years old. Just turned 91 has a ton of fun, but for some reason she gets chilly very easily. What do you think the temperature and you know, I bitch about the temperature in this studio. It's right now in 66 degrees. What do you think the temperature was in her house?

I'm going to say 76, 79 degrees. You don't want to disappoint grandma ever, but you don't want to disappoint grandma on her 91st birthday. And the first night I was there, I cranked that sucker down to 66 degrees. And then I got yelled at by, you know how upset she's going to be. She's going to, you got to, that's what she does.

She makes it. She's brainwash everyone into thinking that if you lower the AC, she has a bad AC unit. She claims that the AC unit's going to break. Now I had it for seven hours at 66 degrees.

No one said anything. And then my grandma's going to say, you got to break the AC unit. You can't do that Zachary. You got to break it. But everyone's a sucker for thinking that the AC unit's going to break. Cause it broke once, like 15 years ago, hasn't broken since, but 79 degrees in Florida.

I was in the pool every day. I was going to say you're sitting in a sauna there. Sweatshop at night. That's a, that's a cheap way to lose weight. Just let I sleep it off.

I don't know. And when you eat on these family vacations, I don't think you're losing weight. Oh, and you're sleeping in 79 degree house.

I think you are. I didn't wake up like I was in a swimming pool. Here's Todd Bowles on if Tom Brady's absence was a distraction. No, we pretty much keep distractions out of our locker room. So it wasn't a big deal us because everybody knew what was going on. Was this really that big of a deal or did we make it a big deal?

I I'll ask you a question. How come they just weren't more transparent? Hey, he's going on a fan vacation. This is planned a while ago. Well, they said that, well, they said that he's on a personal leave and that, you know, it was nonmedical related.

I guess you could put two and two together, but they were kind of, you're right. Like tight lipped about the whole thing. And Todd Bowles, he's, I don't know when he's returning. Well, like if this is planned and it's a trip, you assume we want to respect his privacy. Does Tom Brady have any privacy? That's another thing.

I don't think so. And there's no photos that emerge of him on the, at this all inclusive resort. I will say I'm assuming that he's with some rich, rich, rich folks or somewhere very remote.

Okay. But no one else you could still be rich, rich, rich, and still be in awe of Tom Brady and snap a photo of TB 12 when he's, when he's walking from a bungalow to, to some fancy restaurant or dinner wherever he was vacationing. Jeff Bezos. I was assuming that's the clientele that probably were at this place. I think Jeff Bezos is stopping to take a pic of Tom Brady. All right. Do rich people have kids?

Yes. You don't think the rich people's kids are like, Oh, it's Tom Brady. You got to get a picture and put it on Instagram or something. Well, I guess not either that or maybe Tom Brady took the phone and broke it. Like I know someone that's used to that. I know a family that's in those types of circles. Like that's stupid rich. And they want to ran into magic Johnson on, at an all inclusive resort. The kids took a photo with magic Johnson and posted it with magic Johnson. No one posted a photo with Tom Brady.

Well, imagine Johnson's moment. The people likes to be seen. Tom Brady was basically hiding out.

The guy is this boxer brand or this short brand right now and post photos of him in it. Well, I'm saying just see this specific vacation. He didn't, did not want to be seen. I guess it's just, I'll not want to be seen.

Come on. There's gotta be a photo somewhere. They want it. They want to be seen. They would have been seen easily. Even if they don't want to be seen, you're going to be seen. And that's what paparazzi does, especially when it's Brady and Giselle.

You got to think someone snapped the picture. Jay Glaser on if Lamar Jackson, the Ravens will get a deal done before week one, this courtesy of Fox sports. I think it's a really big uphill battle here. And the reason why is because Lamar Jackson, he's representing himself and it's so hard when you have to go up there and try and negotiate and tell you why you're not worth a certain type of contract, but they've already offered it more than Kyler Murray got, but the Deshaun Watson deal kind of throws things out of whack there because I'm sure he wants a fully guaranteed contract.

I don't see them wanting to do that. Glaser had to be at a game, right? Yes. Sideline before Cardinals Ravens last night.

That's probably as the Cardinals are running out of the tunnel. Yeah. Geez. As bad timing as you could have. I'm standing here.

I don't have any hair, but if I did have hair, it would be getting blown off my, my head right now. And we're talking about Lamar Jackson and Lamar Jackson. He represents himself.

So it's tough to go in those rooms and, and get a deal done, especially when Deshaun Watson gets a $230 million guard. Geez. Geez. That was tough to even hear what Jake laser had to say stupid. Cause they don't go on the road during the season.

It's like the one time you have good info that we want to hear. You're like behind like some fire shooting machine as the Cardinals run out of the tunnel. I don't know where Glazer lives, but Glazer was out and about with Sean Payton, who's now I guess his Fox teammate and they were throwing out the first pitch at the Arizona Diamondbacks game Sunday, right before the big game yesterday. Here is a Mike McDaniel media darling. Mike discusses his impressions with Tua Tungavailoa's preseason game on Saturday. Really happy with Tua because you know, he's been having such a good camp just in his development and ownership of the offense. And I was very hopeful that he would be the same guy on game day.

You know, it was my first opportunity with him and he executed the, the really everything that we asked him to do. Let's see if you're still saying that four or five weeks into the season. That to me, I don't care what Tua Tungavailoa does in preseason.

It doesn't mean anything to me. You know, I hate preseason. When I was in Florida on Saturday night, I thought for a second, do I go check out the dolphins here? Do I go check out the dolphins in preseason, see about two and then I go Carbone, Italian restaurant, or going to watch the dolphins in preseason. Italian restaurant or going to watch the dolphins in preseason.

And that thought evaporated after five seconds when I started thinking about spicy rigatoni ala vodka. And there you were in a number one Tua jersey first row. I was a big fan of Tua when he was in college. Big fan of Tua Tungavailoa. And I'm not saying I'm not a fan of his anymore and I don't like the team that he plays for, but I would have no problem for Tua if he has success this year.

I just, I don't know. The other coaching staff didn't embrace him even though it was a good coaching staff. And he's always been dealing with these injuries now. I just don't think the way that they're hyping him up is going to be the quarterback that we see this year. Let's hear from Kenny Pickett. In my opinion, he should. And I now saying he will start week one for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Kenny Pickett, once again at another good preseason game. He says he's getting more comfortable in the offense. I mean the more and more you play, the more comfortable you get. It's just kind of how it goes. The more reps I get, the better I feel in the system and that stuff.

So I'm just going to keep building on it, watch the film, get better this week and get ready to go on Sunday. Let's hear Mike Talman. He gives his thoughts on Mitch Trubusky.

I mean, Trubusky, sorry about that. We played up against the Jaguars. I thought Mitch played well.

I thought he created and extended some things when there wasn't much there. But we got to do a better job of protecting him and having some semblance of a run game if you want a fair evaluation. And I'm just being bluntly honest. Already throwing shade at the offensive line in the run game. That's a coach that's like, eh, the kid's ready.

I can't keep on fighting off things. So let me throw and dangle a carrot to the media and give them something else to talk about. So maybe they stop asking me if Kenny Pickett's going to start week one and I'll go make some excuses for Mitch Trubusky. Now Trubusky didn't play poorly, but geez, that's lame. Now you're going to need a better run game. Najee Harris wasn't playing, so that's a little bit different. And Najee Harris is going to be that offense issue.

And the offensive line we know is not great in Pittsburgh, but Kenny Pickett, Mitch Trubusky. Let me give you quarterback one, quarterback two. You tell me which quarterback you think had the better game, but no context. Five of eight, 60 yards, no touchdowns, no picks. Or six of seven, 76 yards, a touchdown, no pick.

You'd say more yards than a touchdown pass, right? Ah, and that was Kenny Pickett. Now in theory, I don't know how much changing they did, but Trubusky started the game. So I don't know how much rotations there were with Kenny Pickett. If Tomlin's throwing that much shade at the line in the run game, it's not like it got any better throughout the game when they threw in Kenny Pickett in the first half, I would imagine.

So we're going to the same circumstances. It's not like, let me be clear. It's not like Trubisky's been terrible. But when you are an experienced quarterback, you should be able to easily beat out a rookie. And I think there's been more excitement and this has been a close competition at times. Kenny Pickett has looked better with less.

I know he's going up against less, but he's looked better. And if it's close, tie goes to the future. In my opinion, why can't the future be the present? It should be for the Steelers.

Talking about the future and maybe potentially turning into the present. Adam Schefter says Kenny Pickett is making a run to be the week one starting quarterback. This courtesy of NFL live. I think the feeling around the league has been that Mitchell Trubisky was in line to be the opening day starter, the favorite to be that guy. And when you talk to people now, here's what you keep hearing that the young kid is quote unquote coming on and he's coming quick. So I don't know when they're going to get to Kenny Pickett, but they're going to get to Kenny at some point in the season. I think essentially as soon as Mitchell Trubisky has a stumble early in the season, that'll open the door to get to Kenny Pickett and give Pittsburgh a chance to go to the quarterback that seems to get better at practice every single day. That seems to impress them more and more all the time.

That seems to be, to use the words that I've heard over and over coming on. And so when you look at this Pittsburgh class rookie class, Kenny Pickett, George Pickens, Calvin Austin, quarterback, two wide receivers. Pittsburgh has found some young playmakers on the offensive side of the football that look like they're going to be in fixtures in Pittsburgh for years to come. Wouldn't it be a bad message to Kenny Pickett if they don't start him at this, at this point, if you're the Steelers and what I mean by that, it'd be one thing if this is Aaron Rogers trying to beat out Brett Favre and you know, it's not actually a competition, but Rogers did everything. Let's say the Packers asked him to do, but you're going to Brett Favre because Brett Favre is a hall of Famer. If you keep on asking Kenny Pickett to do things that he's doing them and excelling and there's more buzz growing and it's growing exponentially and he's impressing over and over again. And you go, all right, you did everything we asked of you, but we're going with the guy that's more experienced, but it's Mitch Trubisky. Like if I'm picking, I'm saying, come on guys, I really won this competition.

It wasn't even that a genuine competition. And I have a lot of respect for Mike Tomlin, but I just fear then, and I think Kenny Pickett's a good dude, that if you, if you didn't believe in the guy, when he asked you to do everything, you know, that was asked him and he did it and excelled at it kind of lame. If you don't start him at week one, that's just me though, Hickey. And I wonder that how that relationship continues to materialize. I think it's still too early.

We're to, you know, risk fracturing a relationship. Baker, you Jackson, it happened. It's Hugh Jackson.

Yeah. Mike Tomlin. Hugh Jackson is what one in 31 record he had coming into the year. And I don't think Kenny Pickett is as much of a hothead as, as Baker Mayfield is with the big chip on his shoulder, going to limit it.

I agree with you that one. I'm just going to hold him there. Zach Gelb shows CBS sports radio star, Kenny Pickett week one. If you're the Pittsburgh Steelers, let's take a break. When we come on back, we preview the Las Vegas Raiders season first and goal style with Lincoln Kennedy.

You're listening to the Zach Gelb show. I'm the one, I worked to put that deal together for Brady and Gronk to come to the Raiders. And it was almost a done deal. And at the last minute, Gruden blew the deal up and said that he didn't want him. And all hell broke loose, man.

It was crazy. And, and, and Brady was already looking at houses and it wasn't being said yet that Gronk was coming. So Las Vegas would have had Brady and Gronk the year that the box won the super bowl, except Gruden blew the deal out. And there's so much story that goes along with this behind the scenes. And I, I was never going to tell that story until Gronk just said it, but yeah, that is exactly what happened.

And you just told the story. The NFL season is inching closer and closer. Who are the contenders and who are the pretenders? We have four downs to figure out your team's future. It's time now for first and goal on the sack Guild show. That was Dana white from UFC two 78 with Rob Gronkowski on that Gronk cast. It is a Zach Gelb show on CBS sports radio time to preview the Las Vegas Raiders. And we go out to one of our favorites, Lincoln Kennedy.

There's a great job on the team broadcast and he's a former first team all pro and played a bunch of years for the Raiders. Lincoln, what did you make of that audio when you heard it over the weekend? Well, you know what, what's funny is that data said that he wasn't going to tell that story until now. Well, I mean, we'll compel them to tell the story now, but anyways, some people just can't keep things in themselves.

It's all good. He sort of told the story before, cause I'm a Patriot fan and he's from Boston and I got mad at him. And I even said on the show, why are you advocating for Brady to go to the Raiders when that happens in 2020?

And he goes, Oh, I have a luxury box in Las Vegas at the new stadium. So I thought that was a little fraudulent at the time. Well, probably, but you know what? I could believe that there's some truth to it because there were a lot of rumors circulating around Brady with Gruden, whether or not he was going to keep Derek Carr, he was going to go after Brady and he weren't, you weren't going to be able to keep both. So, um, naturally, you know, the rumors were circulating, especially about Brady being on the free agency market and him being highly touted.

Here's the part that I don't get. Why would John Gruden say no to this? Well, John Gruden is a little bit of a loyalist himself. I mean, he was loyal to Derek Carr for all those years, believing in him, um, for all the years that he had them. And even, even when Derek Carr supposedly tore his groin and, and one of the games towards the end of the year, he did the charger game. Um, and Mariota went in there and played pretty well and they almost beat the charges that game. Uh, he, you know, Derek still got to start the next week when he was supposed to be out for at least 10 days or two weeks. So, you know, John Gruden's always been somewhat of a quarterback loyalist to, to, to, to, maybe to, you know, to an error, but it's, it's always been a part of them.

Do you view that as a mistake? If that's true, that Brady wanted to go there and then Gruden just said, no, No, I mean, I think you got to live with what you live with. I mean, no one could have ever expected that Brady was going to go down to Tampa Bay and, and bring them there. You know, the super bowl in their home stadium that year, you know, one could ever predict it. It just felt like that. But you know, here's the thing, what we saw with that, that team and Brady that year in Tampa Bay is that after a while, Bruce Arians, you know, gave up calling plays, let Brady just call his own plays while he was out there.

Cause he was, you know, understanding enough. I don't know if John Gruden would allow that as arrogant as he can be when it comes to that type of stuff. Let's get to the next down. Lincoln Kennedy here with us.

How do you view Derek Carr going into this season? Lincoln? No more excuses.

I mean, I've, I've used their car for the last three years with no more excuses. Um, you you've got, now you really, that you've got what you want. You've got everything you want. You've got a run game, you've got a passing, you got receivers, you got everything you want. You might not have the total offensive line, but you have a system in place. That's conducive to a pocket passer. That's conducive to using running backs out of the backfill, which you've seen him do with checkdowns and other things like that. And also it makes the slot in the tight ends worthwhile having an offense.

You've got that. So you have the added cupcake, if you will, with Devontae Adams on the outside who can stretch any defense possible. And with his size and his catching ability, all you have to do is put it up around him.

He's going to go up and get it. So there's no reason why this team, this offense should not be successful. When you say no more excuses, is that Super Bowl or bust in your mind or not to that level? I don't, I don't think they're a Super Bowl caliber team.

And the reason I say that Zach is because they haven't beaten their arch nemesis, the Kansas City Chiefs. I mean, they haven't beaten what once in the last 10 years, you can't, you can't imagine or dream of a Super Bowl. You can't take care of your division and you can't say that you're going to take care of your division and you can't beat one of the teams in your division.

And they've, they've handed you, you know, they've handed you soundly over the last couple of years. So no, they're not a Super Bowl bound team besides the AFC is packed. But I do think this, they have to, I think the Raiders are capable of making a deep run in the playoffs. And what I mean by that is I think that all four of the teams out of this division are going to be over 500. Now that you have the extra game, which has never happened in NFL history, but you're going to have to have somebody who's going to have to go on the road, play against a Buffalo or one of those other worthwhile teams, or even meet one of the teams in the division, win that before they can even look at the AFC championship. Do you still give that edge to Kansas City in that division? No, I think the edge is actually going to the Chargers. I like the Chargers, what they've done to move the system. If their coach didn't make so many mistakes last year and mismanaging the game and getting arrogant and greedy, I think they could have won a lot more games. I think he's learned his lesson. It'll be better this year.

Let's get to the next down. Talking to Lincoln Kennedy, what have been your impressions so far of Josh McDaniels? Really impressed, really impressed with the order and the control that he's had. He's maintained over the team and held this team accountable. Look, for what it's worth, this is probably one of the most disciplined Raiders teams I have ever seen.

And then including ones that I played on. They don't kill themselves with penalties and mistakes. They don't make a lot of mistakes. And each one of their guys have played hard throughout the preseason, even though we haven't seen the starters.

So, you know, for what it's worth, I think he's on the right trail. And we'll see this week when they practice against the Patriots, because, you know, the thing is, is that I still believe that if Al Davis was alive, probably, probably wouldn't still would not have had the Patriots in his home state in practice against them, no matter what, but they probably do on a neutral turf. But, but it's happening and these two teams are going to come together. They're going to practice together. It's going to bring out the best in competition.

I expect there's going to be a lot of fights, but you know, for the most part, I think it's going to be clean. If Al Davis was still alive, I think the only way they would have those joint practices is if he had Belichick be honest about the tuck rule. Now, me being a Patriot fan, I had no problem with it, but I think Al Davis would make that as a requirement. Belichick would have to admit that it was a fumble. It was a fumble.

I've learned to live with it. It was a fumble. They got us and it is what it is. Going back to McDaniels, and I think McDaniels is going to learn a lot from his first stint as a head coach, but what do you think he's going to learn from those two years or year and a half in Denver going all the way back to 2009, 2010? Well, I think, I think when you go back and you look at those years, you look at those teams and the way they played and what they were able to create or achieve, you humble yourself in the sense that you've been around a program you saw would have done for decades in the Patriots. And you know what you can do now that you have a talent and a team. When you have a quarterback, you have a chance. He's got a quarterback and he's got talent around the quarterback.

They got talent on both sides of the ball. You've got a fan base that absolutely adores you. You've got a beautiful stadium. You've got, you know, a beautiful amenities and facilities and stuff like that. You've got an owner who's willing to give you anything you want. So it's a very similar situation that he had in New England with Robert Kraft.

It's just a new territory and a new terrain to take over in Las Vegas. Let's get to the next down. Linky Kennedy here with us. We're previewing the Raiders. I know everyone wants to talk about offense, Derek Carr, Davante Adams, Darren Waller, Hunter Renfro, too. But defensively, I love Max Crosby. I love Chandler Jones. What else, though, is there to love about this defense when you watch him?

Well, you know what? The reason why they went out and got Patrick Graham, the defensive coordinator from the Giants, is because he was the only one that really slowed down on the Kansas City Chiefs last year. So we're going to see if he can use his defensive prowess to do that again this year and make a difference for this team going forward. And I think that the re-emergence of Jonathan Abram in the past, I thought, was really critical of Jonathan because I thought he became a little bit of a liability in coverage. They found ways to not necessarily disguise him, but make him still keep him active on the field and not become a detriment so far from what we see in the way teams have protected the Raiders. So I like the things that come in the defensive secondary.

And what's not to like when you've got guys like Trayvon Mullen or Nate Hobbs, who is in the way he played his work a year? Do you think that Adamic and Sue's going to wind up? Because I like to move Bilal Nichols, but everyone keeps on linking Sue to the Raiders. You think that ends up happening?

Yeah. I mean, it depends on what they do. And you know, they made the move by cutting King and Drake and probably use some of that money that they have left over to try to make a play for Sue.

But it probably depends on how much he wants and how much guaranteed money he wants. Early on, we know Devante Adams has been, you know, is going to be an absolute stud for this team. Has anything surprised you with Devante Adams, with what you've heard and what you've seen in Green Bay to now where the way that he's practicing with the Raiders?

Nothing at all. He's a true pro and he's setting an example for a lot of young receivers. You know, they've got a number of notable young receivers that are in that room.

And here's the thing. When you look at what Darren Waller has done and what he's capable of at tight end spots, you look at Hunter Renfro in the wide receiver room, how he's emerged and the tremendous fear that he had and know how this offense kind of placates to the spot receiver because you've seen with Danny Amendola, Wes Welker and those guys. What the Patriots have done. So you see how valuable the slot is in this offense.

It's just an added caveat. The way that, that Devante goes out and works and he's still hungry to be out there and be a part of the offense. Even if he thinks he's probably not going to be the focal point, he was the focal point in Green Bay and rightfully so. And Rogers made a point to get them involved.

Now, mind you, you hear what I'm saying? Derek Carr is going to throw the ball to have, there's no doubt about it. He's going to make a point to throw, but it might not be the only focal point on this offensive weapon.

When you've got so many others. When you get into the red zone, there's also going to be someone that we're not talking about now that's going to emerge because they have so many weapons inside the red zone too. Well, here's one of the things this team has struggled with in the past. Most recently, the years is short yardage and red zone offense generating touchdowns.

In the past, they've been able to move the ball between the twenties, but when they get into the red zone, they have a hard time putting it in. It's going to have to be, and I've been critical of John Gruden back in those days, the lack of creativity being very predictable. I think Joshua Daniels is going to be different this time around.

And with the weapons that he has, I think the sky's the limit. Last thing I'll ask you, Lincoln Kennedy. So I'm with you. I like the Chargers. I'm leaning towards the Chargers to win this division. I think three AFC West teams are going to get in. I've been going with the Chargers. I've been going with the Chiefs. And then I gave the slight edge to the Raiders over the Broncos. How many get in from the AFC West in the playoffs?

Well, I mean, it depends on how it falls. If I, you know, like I said earlier, I think all four teams are going to be over 500. That means the last thing probably will be like nine and eight and depends on how the rest of the playoffs fall. But you know, this is a very competitive conference. They have see when you take a look at Buffalo, you know what you, what you have in the AFC West, but you got to have somebody's going to come out of the central, right? Whether it's Tennessee or I mean the south and then the central has Cincinnati and I'm playing well or return to pretty much everyone from their AFC champion AFC championship team.

The fact is, is that if, if they play, if they get that offensive line figured out, Cincinnati is going to be dangerous. So there's going to be a lot of teams that are going to be in the mix when it's all said and done. Lincoln Kennedy always appreciate the time. We'll be talking to you throughout the season.

Thanks so much. All right, Zach, take care of brother. There you go. Lincoln Kennedy joining us right there. Really good breakdown on the Raiders. I agree with a lot with what he had to say. This is no more excuses for Derek Carr who had a good year last year.

Now you've got to take that next step. I don't think the Raiders are a Super Bowl team either. And then you just get into all the weapons they have and the optimism with McDaniel's. I still lean chargers in that AFC West. You know, the Chiefs are going to have a thing to say, and I really do think it's going to be the Raiders, all those four teams will be fighting it out and slugging it out. But the Raiders, the Broncos to me, what's going to decide who that third team will be in from the AFC West. I think the north will get two and one from the AFC East and then clearly whoever wins between Tennessee and the Colts will represent that division in the postseason. But defensively, that could be the one hiccup and he was a little more optimistic with defense than I was because outside of Crosby, outside of Chandler Jones, I know Paramin made the Pro Bowl last year. He was optimistic and Jonathan Abram.

I got to see it. What would Patrick Graham's going to do with this Raiders defense this upcoming year? But I can't wait for those AFC West games. Oh, those intro division games just going to be out of this world.

They're going to be absolutely bonkers. You're listening to the Zach Gelb show. And you can think of Riley Auto Parts where your car care needs get guaranteed low, low, low, low, low prices and excellent customer service from the professional parts people at a Riley Auto Parts.

Oh, Riley Auto Parts. A quick question for you. Hot take, Hickey. I just posted the video on my Twitter at Zach Gelb of Hickey at a wedding, dancing and questionable dancing skills, but having the time of his life on stage at the wedding, dancing, making it all about him, not about the bride and groom, beer in hand. And the DJ goes, just a reminder, if you have a drink, you can't bring it on the stage. Party pooper. Womp, womp, womp. Lame of the DJ.

Very lame. Can I get a little rundown, though, on this wedding? You did the weekend overnight, Friday into Saturday. Did you have to go to church? We went to the church. What time was the church?

1 30. So you worked all of Friday. No sleep. Friday into Saturday, you get out of here at six a.m. Eastern.

Where's the wedding on Long Island? Yes. So what did you do after six a.m. Eastern?

Took a train home, got home just before eight a.m. Back to Long Island. Yes. Okay. Slept for three hours.

All right. So really nothing. Not a lot. Little recharge of the batteries. Quick recharge.

Barely. Little bit of recharge. Been there, done that, my friend. Went from dead to like, all right, there's like 20% left on the batteries. You know, it's like when you have a crappy iPhone charger and you charge it, you go to sleep, you think you're gonna wake up with 100% and it's like 35% it crapped out halfway through or just before halfway through. Very similar.

You get to the wedding. You're like back to red. Back, you know. And not green. Not green. Not even yellow.

Red. We're staying, I was awake the whole time in church, wasn't dozing off. I would have fallen asleep. The clutch part of the day, there was a long break between the church reception. Well, how long is the reception at the church? About an hour, give or take. See there, 1.30 to about like, let's say before you think about everyone, three o'clock.

It got, it was a little delayed. Yes. 3.50, 3.30.

Three o'clock, three o'clock we're out. Okay. Went to All American. Oh, All American. Right down the road, which is fat kid's heaven. Oh, you got a burger, fries, milkshake.

Double double fries, milkshake. You know, the whole thing. Wait, before a wedding? Yes. You were definitely passing gas all that dance floor.

No, no. No, it was mushy. I was on an empty stomach.

I mean like four hours between, you know, when the church ended, when the reception started. I would feel disgusted. I needed some sort of juice. Suit, right? It wasn't tuxedo. Suit, yeah, but I didn't wear the suit at the church. I would feel disgusted. I was dressed down. If I had to then, if I ate All American and then tried to put on a suit, that would be rough.

All American. Take a shower, feel like a new man. That puts me on the couch for the rest of the night. Well, it ain't go hard, you know.

The portions are relatively small. Double double shared some fries and ready to go. Yeah.

And there's a good refresh. What time does the cocktail hour start? 730. Okay, can I get some of the appetizers you tried? You're like the worst person probably for a cocktail hour. So, they had a tremendous spread. It was like a buffet style, which I've never seen. Chicken fingers and fries, Ricky. They actually had burgers and fries. They had like fried zucchini. They basically kind of like... What, you like fried zucchini?

Food groups from like almost every different place. You like fried zucchini in your mouth? Yeah, of course. We went to the wedding dead sober and I said, you know what? I got to just pound drinks here. So, I didn't actually have one thing at cocktail hour. That's the best part of the wedding. You just finger pick all the food. Oh, great.

Mad. So, I thought the best part of the wedding was the drinks that I was going to try to have. You could do both. No, I don't like doing both. You could be a 5'2 player at a wedding. No, I'm an eat or drink guy. You're just a tool at a wedding.

I can't do both at the same time. So, if I'm eating, I'm going to eat and only eat, then go to the booze after. So, I just figure, you know what? We'll prioritize booze first. We got to work your wedding skills up here. Just a little bit. I don't know.

I thought I did it right. You did not see the best part of the wedding if you did not enjoy the cocktail hour other than the drinks. I don't think anyone actually looks forward to the cocktail hour for the food.

That's just BS. The food is the best food you're going to get at a wedding was at the cocktail hour. They did have buffalo meatballs, which is delicious. Oh, that sounds delightful. Now, how was the dinner? You didn't have anything for the cocktail hour, so dinner, you're probably hungry.

Dry steak, probably. Dinner, I think was to be expected. It was a 300 person wedding.

Oh, come on. I've been to 300 person weddings. Sometimes the food's bad, but then sometimes they surprise you. It wasn't bad. My friend Jake and Rachel's wedding, the food, impeccable. The steak was delicious to die for. It had a little, but it was good. But you know, it's again, when you're, let's just say ballpark 200 people got the flight.

Like, are you really expecting it's the, either the finest cut of meat or the juices? I'm not, but that's why you screwed up. That's why you got to go crazy at the cocktail hour. So you have a few looking back. What is my second wedding I've ever gone to? So I'm learning, I'm learning, you know, what are you going to do? You throw your hands up. That's what I'm learning. I'm learning the dons of weddings.

All right. Like I'm a Don at a wedding. I know how to enjoy a wedding to perfection.

Probably the only person that's coming in and knows how to enjoy a wedding better than me at this company is morass. Cause that's a man that knows how to get the most out of a cocktail hour. How you think the drinks are the best part of the cocktail?

Yeah, I think by a bunch of 95% of people would agree with me. But you got to mix, mix, drink, drink, food, food, food, food, food, drink, drink, drink, food, food, food, food, food, food, drink, drink. That's when my stomach hurts. Then my, then the whole day's over.

So if anything, I pace myself the right way. You got booted from the stage because you had a beer. So lame.

I would agree. Not you being lame. The music was also not the best. Oh wow. Can we send this clip to your friends? It's not their fault.

I don't think it's, what do you mean? The music wasn't good. It wasn't a band. It was DJ. It was a DJ. And they didn't play the hits.

Barely play the hits. So shout, which is like a wedding, a wedding staple. You make me want to shout.

Oh, that's great. The Don, as you know, you just saw me dancing. Not to be played. I am not a good dancer, but I'm a good wedding dancer. You get a few drinks with me at a wedding.

I know how to have a good time. Well, you couldn't be shouting. You're a night away on Saturday night.

Cause there's no shout. Wow. They play September. They did play September. You had Mr. Brightside, another classic.

That's a classic. Yeah. Oh, they play jump around.

How about a piano man? Nope. It's like a slow dance song.

Yeah. That's you gotta have a few slow songs at a wedding. They did have a slow dance at one point. I don't remember the lady Gaga shallow. That's always not have when you're sitting down at eating dinner recently, the last two years, they play shallow.

Interesting. I was like a slow dance song. We're just like eating dinner. You know, you're not gonna play banger here. Okay. I get it. Yeah. You got to mix and you got to let people go to bathroom, take it easy.

Do it. Wonder wall is also a good wedding song too. When you're sitting down at the table. Good. So I don't, I honestly do not remember. You could all sing along while you're eating and you don't have to waste it when everyone's moving and grooving on the dance floor. Right. You don't waste any good songs either. Yeah.

8 5 5 2 1 2 4 CPS. How we just talked about the Raiders of Lincoln Kennedy. He says it's not super baller bus for them. I'm sure Jay and Alaska has an opinion on that. Jay, my friend go ahead. Hey, what's up buddy? Doing great. Just trying to educate Hickey on how to be more sophisticated at a wedding.

I heard that and you're giving us some good advice. Definitely got to, you got to dance at a wedding. I mean, there's, if you don't, he just wasn't eating properly at the wedding. He was dancing.

He was boozing. He just has to improve on the eating skills because he has a pallet of a three-year-old. So it doesn't like to try anything. That's true. You got to try it.

You got to try a little bit of everything and just, you know, be polite. Yeah. What do you got for me on the Raiders? Jay, go ahead.

Hey man. Uh, I wanted to say, first of all, I am so glad for one time in my life. I'm glad that John Gruden screwed up and ruined a whole, uh, uh, Tom Brady to the Raiders.

Why are you glad about that? He's the greatest quarterback of all time. I would have boycotted the Raiders for that year. Why? Because they're bringing in the greatest quarterback of all time.

If that was true, that that was close to happening. You would boycott the Raiders? Oh, you're full of crap. Come on. I can't, I can't support a liar and a cheater. I'm sorry. Just can't do it.

Yeah. Well, you still call into the show and then you still speak positively about yourself, but I'm sure you've cheated before in your life or lied in your life before. Oh, I'm lying, but I've never cheated. I'm not a cheater. You never cheated on a test in school about saying like your wife or something, but you never cheated on a test.

Uh, yeah. It was more probable than not in those footballs. He had a fella, no proof and they didn't even take a PSI levels into, into effect and science or whatever they say, whatever I'm told to say about that. One of the things that I, uh, I was listening to my man Lincoln Kennedy that he brought up that I just love. I was, I don't know if I was telling the hickey, I don't know if you ever saw the interview that, uh, Kurt Warner did with Hunter Renfro. Well, I think it's, I think it's so unbelievably, disgustingly awesome about the Raiders is they were asking Hunter, uh, how he makes those moves on people and just jukes them out of their jockstrap. And you know what he said? I don't know until I do it. How do you defend that guy?

If he doesn't even know what he's going to do to you until he does it, there's no way you could defend that guy. I think it's going to be the most beautiful thing. He is going to make Danny Amendola and West Walker look like, uh, uh, like a kid's meal when he gets done.

The shirt was pretty damn good. Danny Amendola was clutching the big moment. I'm a big fan of Hunter Renfro. We'll see how he'll compare up against Julian Edelman when you want to compare all these short white wide receivers. But I've been a big fan of Hunter Renfro and thanks so much, Jay.

Got to let you run cause I'm up against it, but I like Hunter Renfro. I like going back to Clemson and yeah, he was a thousand yard wide receiver last year without Devante Adams. So now you line up in the red zone. It's like, Oh, we gotta go put two guys on Devante Adams. Oh, we gotta go cover Darren Waller. Um, I've really thought much about fantasy football yet because, and my draft is next weekend.

Yeah. I know nobody cares about my fantasy football team. Hunter Renfro is going to have a lot of value in fantasy football cause it not only gonna put up a ton of yards this year, but he's going to get a lot of touchdowns in the red zone and the Josh Jacobs could stay healthy.

And in the good graces, I could see them inside the five yard line. Jacobs, Jacobs, Jacobs, Jacobs, Jacobs, and him having a ridiculous amount of touchdowns. Later on in the show, we will do Super Bowl or bus. Linky Kennedy says that it's not Super Bowl or bus. He doesn't view the Raiders as Super Bowl or bus team.

I have a list of seven or eight teams that I think are Super Bowl or bus. We'll do that at 9 20 p.m. Eastern, 6 20 p.m. Pacific. When we come on back, it is a Monday. Five questions, five answers. We'll do it in five minutes on sides offside coming on next on the Zach Elp show.
