The NFL playoffs live on Odyssey. Look at this game. First off, it's unbelievable that the Giants are here. You covering the NFL calling games all throughout the season. When did you start to say, hmm, the Giants are a lot better than what we all thought they were headed into this season?
You knew they were different. At least you thought they did week one. We had them right out of the gate against Tennessee. And everybody expected Tennessee coming off of their season the year before. They were focused. They were motivated. They were going to make up for what happened at the end of the year before. And the Giants, they came into Tennessee and they handled the whole process.
And you thought, well this is different. They win the game. Brian Dable goes for it at the end. Everybody's really patting him on the back for a gutsy call. And you've just kind of seen this Giants team throughout. We saw them in London. We saw them again in Seattle.
So we've seen them make the trip from coast to coast and around the world. And this Giants team is just different. And they're different because their head coach has given their quarterback confidence to be able to do what he can do and what he's capable of doing. He's sort of validating that number six overall pick that the Giants spent on him in 2019 with the season he's had this year. Now it helps to have Saquon Barkley back and as good as he's ever been in this league. Plus the play of a defense that has at least up front and in the secondary gotten healthy at the right time for this playoff stretch.
It's just amazing to me because living here in New York and we all know how the Giants were once a proud franchise. In the last five years with Pat Shermer and Joe Judge they were a disaster. And they weren't even getting their top candidates. They weren't getting the guys that when they look at their list of hires they were like, okay that's the guy we want.
The people just didn't want this job for an organization that has a heck of a history and has won a lot. It's really just impressive to me how now the entire locker room. I know winning helps is just saying I'm just happier to go to work now when this team was like down and out for the last five years in year one too. It's a total culture change in year one. And this is we hear it talked about all the time sometimes too much from coaches.
Oh culture, culture, culture, culture. But man you've seen a couple places in the NFC. You've seen it take hold in Detroit which arguably had the worst culture of any franchise in the National Football League and arguably in a lot of American professional sports. And then you have it happening with the New York Giants. And as you said they've been down and out. They've been a laughingstock.
They've been almost forgettable the last five years or so. And now this is a team that has an incredibly bright future and has decisions to make. You know they declined the 50 year option for Daniel Jones. So they've got some decisions to make in the offseason. But the offseason isn't here yet and I don't think any Giants fan expected us to be sitting here in late January still talking about the Giants and having a game still to be played at least once.
Kevin Coogler here with us. We know Jones is having a really special season and Jalen Hurts he was going to win the MVP maybe before he got hurt. Going into this one I know the Hurts injury is a big factor and going to be a big storyline in this game but who do you think has the quarterback advantage? Well I still put it on Jalen Hurts assuming that he's confident enough in that joint sprain of his right shoulder to not only be able to manage the offense effectively but be able to run confidently. He is a terrific passing quarterback and I don't know that I would have said that about Jalen Hurts when he came out but I really think he's done such good work with his feet, such good work with his eyes, with his body language, with his ability to master this offense. He's done a great job improving in that area. But where I think he has to be good in this game is he's got to be able to run the ball and he's got to be confident enough in that shoulder to be able to lean in and take the hits required to be effective running the football. 13 rushing touchdowns, he had 77 yards in the first meeting in week 14 when the Eagles blew out the Giants. You've got to have that kind of Jalen Hurts in this game.
The ability to run and the confidence to finish runs with that shoulder injury in order to be the most effective. Kevin Kugler here with us and these are two of the better defensive players in the league. It seems like they don't get talked about enough nationally though but what Dexter Lawrence is doing right now, I think he's the most dominant player that the Giants have. And for the Eagles, Hasan Redick, 3 different teams the last 3 years and 10 plus sacks. Both those players are going to make an impact in this game you would think.
Oh there's no doubt. Let's start with Hasan Redick because you're right, this is a guy who was a no star recruit coming out of high school. He was a college walk on. He's bounced around the league a little bit. He's been good but not great.
He was really decent with Arizona. Had 12 and a half sacks back in 2020 but this year has just been an explosion onto the scene for Hasan Redick and I think he's going to have another big game coming up on Saturday. And my goodness, was there a highlight last week that didn't include Dexter Lawrence defensively for the Giants? He was mauling guys up front last week. Every time I looked up, Dexter Lawrence was making a play, pushing the pocket in the backfield. He's been so good all year long but I think everybody got the chance to see it on a national scale last week for one of the few times this year. Just how good Dexter Lawrence has been. He's better with Leonard Williams back in the lineup, which he is of course.
He didn't play in week 14 against Philadelphia with that neck injury. But Dexter Lawrence has been otherworldly this season. What a year he's had. What a breakthrough year he's had for the Giants. I love Redick. I went to college with him at Temple but on the other side, Kevin Kugler, Dexter Lawrence who we're just talking about as well.
I know he's a good player. We all know that if you watch the Giants this year, you've seen how destructive he could be. Last week kind of took me back a little bit. We had Paul Allen on obviously the play-by-play voice of the Vikings and he said he's the next Aaron Donald. That was big time praise but he gave a very Aaron Donald type of performance last week.
Oh he did? There's no question about it as we look for somebody to be dominant from that position with Aaron Donald. I know Aaron's coming back but Aaron probably has more days behind him as an NFL player than he does ahead of him. Dexter Lawrence seems to be the guy that fits the bill. 62 pressures from a defensive tackle position.
It's just a silly number. And that's what he had this year. He had 8 last week in that Vikings game. He is remarkable.
He's worth the price of admission. And you don't always say that about a defensive tackle who half the time their job is just to eat up space and try to contain things up front but Dexter Lawrence has really taken it to a different level. When I think of this game Kevin Kugler and we've touched on both of these things. It's the health of hurts and then it's also just the Giants being here.
No one thinking they would have been here clearly before the start of the season or maybe even a month and a half ago. What is the next biggest storyline if you take those two and put them aside? I really do think the next biggest storyline is where do the Giants go from here? Yes, they're in the playoffs. Yes, they're in the divisional round. But what's the next step for the Giants team if they don't get it done in Philadelphia? Can they build on that? And I know that's not a playoff conversation.
I know it's not a game conversation. But I love the idea of where this franchise is going to go with Brian Daible. Of course the expectations going into next year regardless of what happens tomorrow night are going to be sky high based on what happened in this game. What happened in this season for the Giants? I'm fascinated to see what they have going forward and I think just the overall picture of what these two franchises have done to become relevant again in a big-time way quickly under their two young and fresh head coaches. It's a huge, huge story for both the Eagles and Giants not only in this game but moving forward from this game.
Kevin Kugler from Westwood One, NFL on Fox. Can you make an argument for Jacksonville to not only cover but to go win the game up against Kansas City in Arrowhead? Trevor Lawrence comes out, throws for four touchdowns, doesn't throw for four interceptions. Their defense gets a key stop. Patrick Mahomes perhaps makes a mistake. That's how they win the game. Now, do I think that that's going to happen?
I do not. I think this is a game that the Chiefs have been waiting for for a month and a half. I don't mean the Jacksonville Jaguars game.
I mean this game. I think the Chiefs have been kind of just treading water winning games but they haven't really had to go over the top in a lot of these games to get the wins, to get advanced to this level, to get the number one seed. I just think this Chiefs team is so well rounded. Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce have a chemistry unlike any other between quarterback and I'll say receiver. Not only tight end but receiver in the National Football League.
That's hard to overcome. Andy Reid is solidifying himself as every single year one of the best to ever do it and I think he's got maybe his best team coming into this start of the playoffs. Now, the Jaguars could win. It's the NFL.
Anything could happen. They've got a bright young quarterback and I think a bright future in Jacksonville but I think it's tough to overcome Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City. When they lose Tyree Kill, I know a lot of people were looking to see how that offense was going to operate without Tyree Kill. In the regular season, like you said, they've been a team that's been really damn good.
At times they look great. They haven't looked though throughout the entire, this dominant offensive juggernaut week in and week out. But once again, their season really starts on the postseason if you get to the Super Bowl or not. I'm fascinated, Kevin Kugler, if they go down, because they've done that all throughout these great postseason runs that they have, without having that big playability of Tyree Kill, how quickly they could still get back into the game as they used to do it just so easily. Yeah, they did and they'll miss Tyree Kill in those moments so I guess the answer for that is they just can't afford to get down in any big way.
They've got to get out there and get on top as quickly as they can. A kid, but the way Patrick Mahomes has played this year, I rule nothing out with him. He seems to just be able to will this team regardless of having that big play guy like Tyree Kill.
Juju Smith-Schuster has been very, very solid in that role and then Kelsey is just always seemingly able to come up with the critical catch when they need it and I'm anxious to see what they can do against Jacksonville this weekend. What's your thought, Kevin Kugler, on what is going to be a heavyweight fight on Sunday between the Bengals and the Bills? Oh my gosh, I mean, I can't wait to see it.
That's my first thought. I'm so excited to see how the emotion of the rematch with the backdrop of DeMar Hamlin, who I fully anticipate will make an appearance at this game. I want to know how that emotion plays because it could be one of two things. It could be a huge shot in the arm for Buffalo just surging them or it could be an overwhelming moment that causes them some issues early. I don't know what that's going to be and I don't fault either one of those because I think those both are going to be emotions that people are feeling in that stadium. When they finally get on the field, we are so blessed. Look at all these young quarterbacks in this postseason that we have. Guys you didn't expect to be talked about like Jalen Hurts and Daniel Jones.
Guys you knew you'd be talking about like Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow. I just cannot wait for this divisional round. We are really seeing the turning of the page at the quarterback position to all of these young guns and this game just has the potential to be, as you said Zach, a heavyweight fight.
And I hope it is. I hope it lives up to all of the expectations, all of the emotion, all of the energy because you've got two of the very best quarterbacks and two of the very best teams playing. And one of those two is going to go home and it will be a shame to see that season end for either one of those teams. Because Cincinnati has really done a nice job of building on what they did last year and Josh Allen is just awesome. We know the Cincinnati offensive line was horrendous last year and they still almost won a Super Bowl. They revamped it this offseason off to a slow start.
Then they really got cooking. But you know Lael Collins out for the season. Then you lose Kappa for this week. Jonah Williams out this week. I'm concerned about the offensive line, Kevin, but then I just keep on looking back what they did last year and I go it just always seems as if Burrow could find the way even with bad protection. It's unbelievable considering how Joe Burrow's first year ended because of bad protection in the National Football League. And even the Super Bowl. If they could block Donald for a half second longer, they'd win the game.
Exactly. There's no doubt about that. Bad protection has followed Joe Burrow throughout the time in the National Football League and yet he's taken Cincinnati to a Super Bowl. He's got him once again in the divisional round of the playoffs and this looks like a franchise that has plenty of room to continue to improve in years to come. All you have to say about Joe Burrow is toughness because I just think he epitomizes that every single time he hits the field. He's incredibly tough. He's incredibly smart. He's a savvy quarterback and that's a word you usually give to about a 33 year old quarterback all the savvy veteran. He's a savvy quarterback.
He's just I so enjoy watching him play and I watch I enjoy watching him think the game and I think that's one of the best attributes that he has. And the chemistry he has with his former quarterback now head coach Zach Taylor is something that I think is special as well and I think that's really developed into something cool over the last two years. You look at the three best quarterbacks in the NFL right now, it's in no order.
Mahomes, Burrow, and Allen. And the craziest part, Kevin, and you kind of alluded to this, they're all still so young. I don't know how they get better but time would tell us that they still are going to find a way to get better just with more experience. I'm with you. I don't know how they get better.
I really don't. I don't know what is the next step that these guys take where you say, oh that's what was missing from their game. Because I mean they all three can run if they need to. Josh Allen is probably the best runner of the three. They all three can make ridiculous throws.
They all three have willed their teams to wins in days where their teams haven't been great but they've been able to push them through. I don't know what the next step is for any of these three guys but I love the fact that we've got at least a decade more of watching these guys go head to head in the AFC with some young guys like Trevor Lawrence and Justin Herbert and others starting to climb into the conversation as well. I can still remember five years ago or so everybody talked about, oh my gosh when Ben Roethlisberger and Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady and all these guys leave, oh where is this league going to be? This league is going to be just fine in the hands of all of these charismatic, talented young quarterbacks. Again, my game on Saturday night that I'm doing, the Eagles and Giants, two young quarterbacks that nobody put in that conversation at the beginning of the year. They both had tremendous seasons and they both certainly fit very well into that young quarterback category. Two more for Kevin Kugler before we let him run. If you were drafting them 1-2-3 Mahomes, Burrow and Allen, how would you draft them?
Tough question. I would probably still take Mahomes number one. I think because of the additional bits of experience that Patrick Mahomes has garnered.
It's such a slim margin for number two. I'd take Josh Allen because I would want to utilize his legs as well as his arm in my offense so I'd put him at number two. But if I had the number three pick and those two guys were gone, I'd be delighted to have Joe Burrow as my guy and I'd win a lot of games with Joe Burrow at quarterback. As excited as we are for Bengals and Bills, I didn't expect to be as equally as excited for the game that follows it with the Niners and Cowboys. I'd never believe in Dallas, but I'm actually believing in Dallas headed into this one against a Niners team that looks like they're the most well-rounded team in football these days. With of course Brock Purdy, Kevin, as we all predicted.
Of course, that was the thing. Everybody said at the end of the draft last year, wait till Brock Purdy gets his chance. They'll probably lead that San Francisco team at least in the divisional round of the playoffs.
And here he is. I said this, we had San Francisco earlier in the year and I got done with a game and I said something on air about how with their defense I thought San Francisco could be the cream of the crop in the NFC. And of course I said this in an NFL on Fox game and Eagles fans just, I mean there was an Eagles fan that retweeted it and I just got a barrage of love. I mean it was all just love. You're right Kevin. No, it was hate.
Oh my goodness. Eagles fans couldn't believe that anybody would think that. They were undefeated at the time. Why would you say this? You're a moron.
All of the things that all, you know, all in good fun. But I still stand by the fact that I do think this Niners team because of the defense they play gives them the chance to win every single game. And you can't say that about anybody else in this playoff field. Their defense is so good and so dominant. Anchored by their linebackers Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw who are, Fred Warner is the best linebacker in the game in my opinion.
Greenlaw is not far behind him. Bosa is crushing guys up front. This is an extremely talented defense. And my goodness, how good is this offense and the ability to overcome no matter who started three quarterbacks in a season and still at the end of the year in January you have them as a Super Bowl favorite.
Not too many teams but San Francisco is that team this year. Well you know your broadcast partner Ross Tucker will be too occupied with the buffet. If you need help getting into the stadium tomorrow I could be your bouncer. I appreciate that. I will look for you if I have, if anybody reminds them of these tweets just remember I actually tweet under the name Ross Tucker so just go after him. Kevin Coogler we appreciate it. Thank you.

Divisional round weekend in the NFL. After both of us had just an ugly awful terrible wild card round of picking games and I always say the toughest week. I feel like you could say this each and every week for the way I've been picking games this year after last year going 12 games above 500 this year.
Well, it's been ugly. But really I always say wild card weekends the toughest week to pick. So now we'll see if divisional round weekend is easier or if it gets tougher from here. Four games this weekend.
We'll start it off a going order Saturday for 30 p.m. Eastern. The Jacksonville Jaguars coming off that resilient come from behind victory down 27 nothing to then go on out and beat the Chargers even at Duvall and on their home turf. That was something when you're down by that much wonderful moment after the game you have Trevor Lawrence go into a waffle house.
Wild and with an all time great order. And now they go into Arrowhead. They go up against the Kansas City Chiefs.
And all week long all week long. I've looked at this number and I've said nine and a half points is too many points. But at 927 p.m. Eastern when push comes to shove. As big of a spread as this is and as much respect as I have for Doug Peterson and Trevor Lawrence and as much as that defense is playing better and better and causing turnovers each and every week. I just can't plus the number. This to me is 31 17. 31 21 that type of game. I don't love Kansas City minus the number. But I will lean Kansas City minus the number. So give me the Chiefs minus nine and a half. Chiefs go for two reasons. Number one I think that 27 nothing comeback takes a lot of steam out of the Jaguars is a great game last week. But you see historically those teams after you make an insane comeback like that almost always fall flat the next week. Number two look Jaguars are notorious for slow starters Cowboys down 27 nothing Titans down I think was 10 nothing and I was using a 27 nothing to the Chargers. You get down 17 nothing to the Chiefs it's over you're not coming back against this team.
They know to close you out. I'll take the Chiefs minus nine and a half. No doubt. No doubt. So that was a tough one for me to pick for you. No doubt.
Hickey coming out firing. And then you actually like the Jaguars to their fun team. So it's not going to take a lot of joy. I wish people could see you firing the guns coming out shooting firing.
Yeah but saddles hot. You don't have the body to do that. You don't have the kind of structure to do that. The build. You looked very I don't know weak. I got the build. I wouldn't be intimidated by sweatshirt.
You can't. This is not defining my muscles. Even if you were packing heat I would not be concerned. All right. Next up Giants and Eagles. This is Marco Belletti his favorite game of the week. He's been all over the Giants. I like the Giants the cover. I don't think the Giants win. I think they lose like twenty seven twenty twenty seven twenty three and a real good close game that comes right down to the wire. Giants cover but the Eagles win.
So give me the G-men plus the seven and a half points. I'm no doctor. What that said.
But we know that. You look at Jalen Hurts. You know when someone is hurt. Jalen Hurts is hurt.
My guess is he's closer to 50 percent than 100 percent. I think that's kind of a big impact. Giants right now are rolling Daniel Jones is in the best little streak of his career. I think a team in the Giants goes into Philly. It's going to be a raucous atmosphere and there's going to be seventy thousand fans going home pissed off Giants cover win the game outright. How about that.
Hickey going with the outright victory for the New York 24 20. There you have it. And all year long you've been looking at the Giants and you've been saying yeah they're playing well but I don't believe in them.
That's right. Picked against them last week. I thought they were going to miss the playoffs. I said the Lions and I think it was the commanders are going to make the playoffs over them when they're kind of swooning in November and December. I've not been a Giants fan if you will.
I'm not a Giants fan in general but I've not taken what they've done this year. Seriously that changes tomorrow night. Now let me ask you a question. I know you're not a big gambler. Have you placed a bet legally so far. Yes. OK. You have an account.
Yes. So that means Giants are plus two eighty five in the money line. You got to sprinkle some money on the money line.
Good value. Not put a lot of you. If you're that confident you got to put a lot of money on the money line there. I'm not putting a lot of money on the Giants but I think they're going to win the game.
OK. Not as confident as I am in a later pick but maybe they're going to win the game. OK. Bangles and Bills. Bills are five and a half point favorite. I think I know when to identify a fishy spread judging by my picks this year.
I don't know if that's true but this is Vegas to me begging begging imploring you trying to make you take the bangles plus the number. I'll lay the number with the bills. I think the bills will win by a touchdown. Give me Buffalo minus five and a half. Ultimately even though the bangles have found a way to just make up weekend and week out for an offensive line that's either not good or hurt. And this week they are hurt. I think Buffalo find a way to get home enough times in this game and Josh Allen will play a cleaner game than what he did a week ago.
Give me the bills land the five and a half. Josh Allen has been a turnover machine if you include the playoff game last week. He leads all of the NFL in turnovers with 22.
Don't love that. Don't love the fact that the Bills offense is all or nothing where it's either big play or nothing. And part of the reason why the Dolphins are able to come back from 17 nothing and make it a game in the third or fourth quarter is because the Bills could not put them away. On top of turnovers they go three and out. They get off the field very fast.
They cannot sustain drives consistently. Don't like that. Sure the Bengals outline is beat up.
No problem. Joe Burrow knows how to win finds ways to win. Bengals find a way to win in Buffalo tomorrow or on Sunday and get the respect they find deserve.
Well here's the thing too. I'm looking at the money line here. This is how much Vegas is begging you for two teams that you think are very even. Bengals are plus 196 on the money line. That's a huge number for two teams when they when they met with three weeks ago that was now the Bengals were a favorite in that game.
That's a big switch. And usually Vegas isn't wrong on those things like it like I would look at this game objectively before so we can be like wow. Bengals five and a half. Well that's easy.
And you see the money line plus 196. I really do think Vegas is trying to get everyone to go on the Bengals side already. Final one. Cowboys and Niners Niners are four point favorite.
Very easy explanation here. Hickey said 100 percent chance the Niners win and they cover. Give me the Cowboys plus the four points. Money lines plus one six will even throw some money on the money line. You know I put up a lot of money on my line maybe because the Dallas Cowboys who I never trust and I can't stand those drama Dallas choking Cowboys.
I'm doing shots right now of mouthwash just saying this. I think they're winning the game. I really do. I never trust that team.
I always wait for their funeral. And you see their fans just get so cocky and obnoxious like a bunch of cockroaches that they are. But I think they're winning this game. So give me Dallas plus the four points. They win the game outright. That's my pick.
Hickey. We already know you're picking this one. Go ahead. Forty Niners. You're telling me Dak Prescott's going to have two good games in order after he came in struggling the last two months of the season. Absolutely not. I think this Cowboys running game is going to get established against this ferocious front four of the 49ers.
Absolutely not. And the 49ers have too much weapon too many weapons on the offensive side of the ball and the defensive side of the ball. Is Mike McCarthy going to out scheme. Kyle Shannon.
No, no, he is not. Forty Niners. Lock it up.
Minus four. Don't care. Easy win. Best game of the weekend. Lock of the year. Lock of the century. I'm laughing.
Lock of the millennium maybe. Let's go. Minus four all day.
Marco. How does Monday show start off after hearing that prediction. Good chance here in that audio.
That's usually how it goes. And also the other reason why I'm laughing. Hickey. I don't think I ever told you guys this story. You kept on saying absolutely not.
Absolutely not. The wing joint that I love in Buffalo Bar Bill last year when I went up there for the Patriot Bills playoff game. There was. So they have an indoor restaurant. Obviously we go sit down and then they have a takeout stand as well. Like it's a different entrance. So the indoor restaurant was just swarmed. It was absolutely swamped with just people.
So many people. And it was like a two and a half hour wait. So you go to the takeout bar and you place your order. It was still like an hour and a half wait. So I went into my wallet and I said to the guy go how much I have to give you just to make my order and have us like cut the entire line. Like we just random takeout orders to give you a number. Then you go.
And the guy was just screaming at me. Absolutely not. Absolutely not.
That can't happen. Absolutely not. So I give him credit because I was ready to give the guy behind the counter like 60. I would have paid like 60 something bucks and I'd have to go wait 90 minutes or so.
So for some reason you saying absolutely not just triggered that moment for me. Anyway we can fade out the music here are the picks. I'm going KC minus nine and a half. So is Hickey. Hickey and I are both on the G-Men plus seven and a half. But Hickey thinks they'll win the game outright. I think the Eagles will win. I'm going Bills minus five and a half. Hickey's going with the Bengals plus five and a half. Hickey is taking the Niners minus four and I'm going the Cowboys plus four.
Marco Belletti real quickly. Kansas City up against the Jaguars. KC lay a nine and a half.
It's a lot of points but I have to do it in that situation again. I find it hard to believe even if KC doesn't play a clean game that they don't win by at least double digits. See that's such a tough spread at nine and a half because I like almost want to plus the points but then as I'm about to say that I could see that being 31 21.
Again the biggest thing that is a problem in there. Be careful of the back door because I think Kansas City is going to be in control. They're going to feel like the game is over but the score may not indicate it and it wouldn't shock me if Jacksonville down by you know 16 gets a garbage touchdown and all of a sudden you wind up screwed. You don't get lay the numbers. So it's a difficult proposition but I have to do it like a two point conversion to something like that. Something where the score doesn't matter to the Chiefs. But it matters to your wallet. Like the game could pretty much it feels like it could be like over at 31 17 and they go get a touchdown late.
Right and the game will be over and the Chiefs will treat it as such and rightfully so and everybody will get screwed by the back door. All right. You were at what 80 percent confidence yesterday. Earlier in the week you were at 65 percent. Correct.
So is this even worth me asking Giants are seven and a half point dog. One hundred percent. Wow. I'm on an island here. I am all in. Wait now hold on. I'm on an island here. He's 100 percent hickey in saying that the San Francisco 49ers beat the Cowboys.
You're 100 percent on the Giants beating the Eagles. I'm impressed. And you.
This is not all. Marco's a giant fan. Mark Marco is a homer all year he's been waiting for something wrong to happen. All year I've said that this team was smoking mirrors and it was fun and it was enjoyable. It changed. Everything changed Christmas Eve in Minnesota. The entire outlook of the team.
Brian Dable walked into Minnesota and handed the keys to Daniel Jones and said go take it. And you know what. The kid has responded and the rest of the team has responded.
And I'm telling you I have not coined this phrase but I'm going to say it again. A confident team. The dangerous team. This team is primed for this and the Eagles are primed because they've peaked. They're coming in on the downturn and Jalen Hurts is banged up. If this team was 100 percent and they were playing the way they were in the middle of season and if they could flip the switch and get back to that. The Giants can't stay with them.
They can't even cover that number. That's how much better the Eagles are. All those things is the perfect storm. Simple. Simple as that. A confident team is a dangerous team. When they believe in the locker room. It's a different vibe than we forget.
Forget fans. You had to come up with that term. There's no way that I coined that. Have I heard who said it? No.
Well Barney once said to the Packers. There's no way. But again if you see a team that all of a sudden believes that they're better than they are. There's a different vibe that comes from them. There's a different outlook and you can feel it.
You can see it. And I'm telling you this team has a different look. They believe they're better than they are.
And let's be fair. They're not that good. They're not.
Up and down the roster. There's some talent in certain spots and probably that we underrated. But they're not that good. But you can't tell them that. By the way I just googled a confident team is a dangerous team.
Not a lot comes up. You know what can I get the trademark then? Because to me that's silly. There is one. There's some Sports Illustrated writer who I've never heard of. Shuler Callahan who wrote this in an article.
A confident team is a dangerous team. I think you've got to trademark that. Make the t-shirts.
You know what? That might not be a bad idea once the Giants win the game. I'll talk to some people over at the Giants.
Not that I know many. And see if we can get that done. When we get Marco Belletti being the spotter for Kevin Burkhardt at the Super Bowl you can wear the t-shirt.
And then we can go viral. Alright we're up against him but real quickly. Bills, Bengals. Bills are a 5.5 point favorite. You're right in that Vegas is begging you to take Buffalo.
I don't care. I'm going the other way. Give me the Bengals. On the money line too. I think Cincinnati pulls the upset.
Okie dokie. And 49ers Cowboys. The Niners are a 4 point favorite.
I'm not as confident as Hickey. I've actually been trying to convince myself that this is a good thing with the Brett Maher. That all the pressures on him and the rest of the Cowboys are now loose and free and easy.
But I can't buy it. Give me the 49ers laying the fool. You got it. Alright we'll take a break here on the Zach Gelb show.
Closing bell next. Remember folks. If you've never watched football before. A confident team is a dangerous team.
