It is the JR Sport Brief show on CBS Sports Radio coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. For all the baseball fans out in Texas right now, congratulations. It looks like we're going to have an old Texas American League Championship Series.

We got one team that just did its part to advance the American League Championship Series. The Texas Rangers minutes ago, during commercial break, they swept the Baltimore Orioles 3-0. They win the series, they win the game tonight 7-1. The Texas Rangers are 5-0 in the postseason for the first time in team history. The Rangers sweep the Orioles tonight to reach their first American League Championship Series since 2011. Six runs in the first two innings and the Rangers now having an opportunity to celebrate with their fans at home down in Arlington. And then on the other side of the fence, or not the other side of the fence, a different part of Texas, Houston Astros are trying to get Minnesota the hell up on out of here. Earlier this evening, the Houston Astros beat the Minnesota Twins 9-1. Houston is one win away, one victory away from advancing to the American League Championship Series. And at that point, we can just call it the Battle of Texas. Somebody from Texas is ultimately going to represent the American League in the World Series. A matter of fact, I told you the Rangers just got the job done at home 7-1.

First ALCS since 2011. Let's listen to the final call. This is courtesy of the Rangers Radio Network.

Short and simple. Leclerc set. He delivers. He struck him out swinging. And the Rangers have swept the Orioles in the division series. Hello ALCS.

Beautiful. Congratulations to them. And this is good. I mean, Nathan Evaldi went out there. He's continued to have a great season now extending into the postseason. Nathan Evaldi, seven innings pitched, seven strikeouts. He only gave up that one run that was here on the board. And then, I mean, if we got to talk about the other team. Talk about those Houston Astros.

They did their part earlier today too. And you can thank Jose Abreu. This man hit two two-run home runs. Okay, he hit one early on in the first.

Excuse me. He hit a three-run home run in the first. And he hit a two-run home run in the ninth.

I guess Jose Abreu is just, he's happy to not be with the White Sox anymore. I told you the Astros won nine to one. Let's listen to that second home run from the Astros Radio Network. 1-0. And that is hammered deep to left field.

Kiss it goodbye. Second home run of the day for Jose Abreu. This one's a two-run shot.

He's driven in five. The Astros lead is nine to one. And that's all she wrote. That's all she wrote. And so look, Minnesota Twins are currently on borrowed time in the Baltimore Orioles. They are, they're done.

There's no other way to put that. And you have to, you got to show love to the Orioles for what they did. Who expected the Baltimore Orioles to win 101 games?

Not me. I mean, most of America doesn't know who the hell half of the Baltimore Orioles are. And so they shocked everybody here.

Now, having said that, they were in some terrible territory. Second 100-win team in the wild card era to not win a playoff game. Nothing. Didn't win not one game.

Nothing. The Orioles just, and we talked about this, I think sometimes, and I just mentioned this. We had a caller right before the break talking about the Detroit Lions. He called me and he said, listen, man, we got a lot of people here in Michigan right now that are drinking the Kool-Aid. He said he works in a barbershop. His name was Church.

I remember him from Grand Rapids, Michigan. And he basically said, all day people come into the barbershop and they talk about how the Detroit Lions are going to win the Super Bowl and they're really feeling it. And he says, enjoy each week. Enjoy the wins. But don't get too far ahead of yourself because there are levels to this.

And I would agree with him. And I said this is applicable to any sport, especially when you have a young team that has turned things around for the franchise that has probably been Justin Cobwebs. A lot of times you have that regular season success. Then you go to the postseason and then you run into a team that's more senior than you.

And you probably lose and you utilize it as a learning experience. A lot of times teams get punched in the mouth and they come back better. No better example here than the Baltimore Orioles. They went out here, won one hundred and one games in the season. They get to the postseason. The moment is big and they get beat by a Texas squad who, by the way, has a massive payroll. And so you got to give credit to the Baltimore Orioles for being here. But they ran up against Texas. I mean, they got veterans, they got seekers of the world and simians here on the squad like they're in a they're in a different space.

OK, if I want to look at other sports, I know the NBA season is getting ready to get underway. Last season, I had people calling me all the time about the Sacramento Kings. And I'm like, yes, they're good.

But can we slow down a little bit? And yes, they fought. But then they ran into this team. I don't know if you heard of them, the Golden State Warriors. And so the Sacramento Kings are expected to take another jump. I'm not saying the Lions are not capable of taking a jump in one postseason or just by getting there, but the odds aren't high. Last year, hey, they barely missed it. OK, this year, go to the postseason. If I got to look at the Lions in the postseason and they're staying across from the 49ers, am I going to pick the Lions? No, no, I'm not.

Enjoy the ride, though. And so congratulations to the Baltimore Orioles. It'll be real interesting to see how they bounce back next season, next year with more experience. Teams are going to be looking out for them. There's not going to be any sneaking up on anybody.

How are they going to continue to improve? 855-212-4CBS. That's 855-212-4CBS. David is here from Maryland. You're on the chair of our sportbreeze show. What's up, David?

Yeah, thanks for taking my call tonight, sir. I got a couple of things to say. First of all, you know, I'm not ticked off too bad with the Orioles. I want to talk about this Orioles-Rangers game, by the way. I'm not too ticked off bad with them because they won, you know, 101 games.

They were the best team in the American League. And another thing, you know, the reason I'm not so ticked off like a lot of people might be is because these games are being set up by the commissioner, Rob Manford. He picks who he wants to win in these games. So Econic gives me, you know, thinking that even though my team lost, I'm really not so ticked off about it because the games are set up anyway. They wanted the two Texas teams to go to the World Series, or not World Series. They want them to go to the ALCS, but that's probably going to happen definitely with the Rangers.

And I do think Houston does beat Minnesota, so I think definitely. Actually, I'm not ticked off. No, no, no, no. Stop. Be quiet. Shut up. Man, you're the first person to have to tell shut up in like, I don't know, like, I don't know, six months.

I don't know, that guy from Toronto is pretty brutal. David, David, are you okay? Oh yeah, I'm fine. So hold on, stop. Like I said, I'm not- No, no, no, stop.

Thank you. Stop. No, stop.

David, stop. Please listen to me. I want to have a conversation with you. You don't need to talk over me or try to talk louder than me. I want to talk with you, okay? Is that okay? That's fine.

Okay, well thank you. So let me ask you this. Since you believe that this postseason is rigged, why do you even bother to watch any baseball if you feel the outcomes are predetermined?

And don't get me wrong, sir. You know, I know I'm definitely an oil fan, but I think, I'm not saying this for the oils either. I don't want to think like Rob Manford just picking on the oils, because I think actually the Dodgers game could be rigged. Look at Dodgers- No, no, no. I didn't ask you that, David.

Good, good. I asked you if you feel that baseball, the games, the postseason, the regular season, whatever you think, if you feel that the outcome is rigged, why do you invest your time into watching? Well, in the regular season, sir, I really don't think it's rigged. For the most part, I think the games in regular season are not rigged. But I think when it gets down to Vegas with all these money on these teams, I think some teams are required to win, even if they're not as good. Like the Texas Rangers are inferior to us, but you would never know it this series, because some of these games are predetermined.

So help me out. Yeah, good. Who is rigging the games? Like who are the script writers?

Yeah, good. Who are the script writers, and how do they determine how this goes now? I mean, probably Rob Manford is the hit one there, and people in the front office of MLB, you know, and I think, and don't get me wrong, you know, the Orioles had an incident, maybe you don't remember, this is way long time ago, back in the late 1990s, we used to have a guy playing for the Orioles named Roberto Alomar. Do you recall that name? No, I have no idea who he is. Did he spit in your face? Yeah, long time ago.

This was way back in the late 1990s. Did he spit in your face? He was the one that spit in the umpire, so my logical thinking is- Well, hold on, David. Oh, my God. Oh. Hold on a second. He's listening more, though.

David. Yes. The late 1990s wasn't a long time ago. Right. That's why when you asked about Roberto Alomar, I asked if he spat in your face. That wasn't, that was, do you understand what I was saying?

Not in my face, personally, no, but he spit in the umpire's face. Okay, hold on. Hold on a second. Hold on a second.

And drink some tea real fast. So, David, if you're listening, that was JR's way of insinuating he's very well aware of the fact that Roberto Alomar played for the Orioles. He should have been a first ballot Hall of Famer had he not spit in an umpire's face, so JR really knows who Roberto Alomar was.

That was why he said that he spit in your face. Hey, David, do you remember Armando Benitez? Do you remember him? I remember him very well, yes.

You do? Yes. Do you remember Geoffrey Maia? Do you remember him?

Definitely. Yeah, I think I know a little bit of something about baseball, David. Well, I didn't know how old you were. You sound like a younger guy, so I didn't know. No, I was just born yesterday, so I have no recollection of any of that, but go ahead. That's why I asked if he spat in your face.

Maybe he did. No, but he did spit in the umpire's face. Oh, I didn't know that. And what I'm trying to get to is I think, you know, MLB does have something against the Orioles for what happened 27 years ago. Why do they hold it against the Orioles for 27 years?

I have no idea. They should let that go. But unfortunately, I guess, you know, MLB remembers that. I mean, 27, 20 years ago.

He does. Yeah, Rob Manfred was running things then, too. No, he wasn't running things then. He had another commissioner, but what I'm saying is... No, they didn't have another commissioner. No, Rob Manfred was the commissioner in the late 90s.

How are you going to tell me? Huh? I think it was somebody else.

No, no, no, it was, trust me, it was Rob Manfred. Okay? David, do you smoke cigarettes? No, I might start smoking. Yeah, nah, if you smoke a cigarette, make sure you pass me one, okay? But I mean, yeah, it was, you know... All right, thank you, David. Okay, thanks.

All right. Wow. He needs a cigarette. He needs to give me a... I need a pack of cigarettes.

A pack. I don't think he picked up on the fact that you were joking about Rob Manfred being the commissioner of baseball in the 1990s. Him? I don't think he picked up on that. No, I think he did. I think he did.

Good, good, good. He slowed down a little bit, though. He did.

It took him a minute. You know what, though? I don't even know. How many cigarettes come in a pack?

Is it like eight or 12? I'm the wrong guy to ask. There's people I ask in our industry that smoke all the time. I am not one of them. You and I are not one of them, or two of them. I could ask one of me and Steve. He could hook me up.

Whatever, however many cigarettes come in a pack, I need it after talking to him. He seems like a nice guy, though. Nah, he does, but I... Why does Major League Baseball is holding a grudge against the Baltimore Orioles? First time I've ever heard that. What, for 25, 27 years? What?

Bud Selig was sitting around thinking about that? I'm like, come on, man. What are we doing here? And then there's scripts?

I get it. There's so many jokes about... And I understand, and I don't know, maybe I'm too close, but I'm like, who's sitting around writing these scripts? Like the offices for the NFL Park Avenue, the office for Major League Baseball Park Avenue, the NBA is off of Fifth Avenue in Madison and not too far away. All of these leagues, all three of the leagues that I just mentioned, you could pretty much walk from every office if you're in New York City.

Walk from one office to the other to the other office. They're actually human beings that work there. These are not mythical beings that are just anonymous folks. You know, they don't have somebody connected to a ball in a chain writing a script for your favorite team. I know the NFL poked fun at it before the beginning of this regular season. They had scripts, and this is in the script, and this is the script for this season. Man, there ain't no script. Can there be outside influences that try to determine and push the outcomes of games for their own nefarious uses, typically money?

Yes, yes, yes and absolutely. There are going to be insiders thinking about how they can get a check. There are going to be some folks, for the most part, who don't give a damn because they don't want to jeopardize their lives. There is no script, okay? One day we're going to hear about a player who accepted money to throw a game. It's going to happen.

That's the closest you get to a predetermined outcome. These are multi-billion dollar industries. The last thing that they want to do is take what they have earned and built and crap on the trust of the distribution partners in television and digital media just to come out and say, hey guys, sorry, we're not the NBA. Hey guys, we're not the NFL. Hey, we're not MLB. We're not the NHL. God bless them for starting their games today. We're the WWE version. We're sorry to tell you, but the outcomes of our games are predetermined. That's not how it happens, folks. I know it sounds good. It might be something interesting to talk about.

It might be fun to laugh at depending on who you are. The outcomes to the games are not predetermined. Look, I don't know Rob Manfred. Never met him, never spoke to him.

I have met Bud Selig, interesting dude, but I'll tell you this. The games are not rigged. Get over it. And if somebody was going to rig anything, why the hell would they want to sit down and rig an Orioles game? Oh yeah, by the way, if I'm Major League Baseball, do I want an all Texas American League championship series?

Probably not. You want to know why? Because for a sport that is trying to grow its footprint, I think I might want to scale out outside of one state in particular. Yes, it's a gigantic state.

And yes, Dallas and the Metroplex and Houston, they are two huge regions. But I ain't picking that necessarily as my first choice. Not at all, man. These games aren't rigged. Please, please stop. It's the JR Sport Brief Show here with you on CBS Sports Radio. I'm going to get some more of your calls.

Hopefully they don't make me need a cigarette or two or three or four. I'm going to get to you on the other side of the break. It's the JR Sport Brief Show on CBS Sports Radio. If you're smoking a cigarette right now, have one for me, dammit.

I'll be right back. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief on CBS Sports Radio. Music You're listening to the JR Sport Brief on CBS Sports Radio. What I'm trying to get to is I think, you know, MLB does have something against the Orioles for what happened 27 years ago. Why do they hold it against the Orioles for 27 years? I have no idea. They should let that go.

But unfortunately, I guess, you know, MLB remembers that. Call in now at 855-212-4CBS. Hey, Chef, what are you doing? You trying to trigger me? No. You're trying to trigger me. I'm triggered. I just went for a smoke break here in the commercial break and now I'm triggered. I came back.

I need another one. What I'm trying to get to is I think, you know, MLB does have something against the Orioles for what happened 27 years ago. Why do they hold it against the Orioles for 27 years?

I have no idea. They should let that go. But unfortunately, I guess, you know, MLB remembers that. I mean. Can we just celebrate what they did this season? 101 victories. Okay, fine. The Texas Rangers sweep them.

The Orioles are only the second team to win 100-plus games in the regular season and not have a single playoff victory. And then this was going to be a worry that maybe they were too young and too inexperienced. Maybe the moment got the best of them. I mean, we heard from Rushman last week. We played the audio here. He's like, man, when you step out onto the field, it's all baseball. And it's true.

Yeah, it is. Don't mean that y'all didn't feel it. That doesn't mean that nobody was pressing. Like, enjoy. Congratulate them for what they did during the season. Unexpected. Let's see how they build on it next year. So many young players, man.

The country is still finding out about them, too. 855-212-4CBS. It's 855-212-4CBS. There's nothing rigged, man.

Just slow down. Nick is calling from Maryland. You're on CBS Sports Radio, Nick. Go ahead. You're on CBS Sports Radio. Hi.

Thanks for taking my call. I just want to comment. The last guy, I have no idea what he was trying to say, but I think there's a lot of factors for why the Orioles lost this series. They had a great season. They weren't expected to do this well this fast.

They came up. They have a lot of young players. I think the bye actually hurt us a little bit because we were really hitting it pretty good before the bye.

And, of course, losing Batista was big, but it never came into play because we got beat by so much. But I think what they'll do is they'll learn from this. They are young. Very few teams that are that young come in and go all the way.

My oldest son said that it probably wouldn't happen this year, maybe not next year. But they are definitely good, and they're going to be good for a while. And all we can do is hope that they turn it around. And this moment, like you said, was a little bit too big for them. And maybe they were just, I don't know, they were overwhelmed. I think what helped Texas also was they almost got swept by Seattle. And they found a way to win one of those four games to get in the playoffs. And I think they just let the gloves down.

I think they just said, hey, we shouldn't be here. Let's just go out and play. And they relax better than the Orioles. But don't try to blame somebody else for us losing. We lost. We got beat by a team that played better than we did. And they obviously were more prepared for the moment.

But I apologize to everybody who was listening to the last guy. The Royals had a great season. I'm proud of the Royals. My wife loves the Royals, and she took this loss hard.

But I tell you what, they're good players, and they're a good squad. Well, thank you, Nick, for being a reasonable human being, okay? I appreciate you, man. Thank you so much.

Ah, the balance. I'll take that. 855-2124 CBS. Let's go out to Stockton, California. Let's hear from Bob. You're on the JR Sportbreeze show, Bob. What's up? Hey, JR.

Thanks for taking my call. You know, just to put an exclamation point on your point, injuries alone takes a written script out of it, period. I mean, like, who can write in someone breaking their leg in the middle of a season? You know what I'm saying?

Especially in football. No, no, Bob. That's scripted, too. You didn't know?

Oh, please. That's scripted, too. Yeah, but to digress just a little bit briefly about Jerry Jones. You were talking about him.

Yeah. You know, I believe you make a very good point. He's a great marketer, and there was an expose done on him from the NFL. You know, part of his success was having to wrangle his brand out of the NFL's hands. And when he did that, when he wrangled his brand out of the NFL's hands, the NFL just started making multi-billions of dollars because it freed up all the other ownerships to do the same.

So your point is well taken. He is a businessman, for sure. Yeah, he might be a crap GM. He might be full of himself. But you know what? That might also be the reason that he's successful in what he does, at least from a business perspective.

You know, it's a little bit of a give and a take. Yeah, you know, he did get a good team, but I think how they exploded really was based on a lot of his, you know, good marketing, like you said. I really did. It wasn't an accident.

Bob, let me tell you something. It is not an accident that a team, you want to think about teams, and if you go ahead and look at the most valuable franchises on earth, there was a point in time where there were more football, international clubs that sat at the top of the list. We're talking huge markets with tons and tons of money, okay? We're talking about the Golden State Warriors being out in the Valley and having all of that tech money and being able to have success in Oakland and then running over to the other side of the bay because they also own the arena there, which is nuts. We think about the New York Yankees. We think about the Lakers of the world, and God bless Dallas. It's not necessarily thought of in the same space, even though it's a big, vibrant, huge, sprawling city, even a metroplex, and so he has taken that to another level.

It ain't no different than saying, man, why couldn't this iteration of an NFL team be in Miami or be in any other market? It's because of what he's done with the resources. He's blown it the hell up, man. It's crazy.

Now, if he could only have the same success on the field, that'd be different. We need it. Yeah. Well, thank you, Bob. All right, man.

Take care. Shout out to Bob for calling from Stockton. Mike is here from Grand Rapids.

I love Grand Rapids. Hey, Shep, what was the last song we heard from that repo man? About a week and a half, maybe. No. The repo man from Michigan? I think it's been a week and a half.

I feel like it's been two months. Oh. Yeah.

Repo man been gone. Either he's been getting them cars or he got got. Which one do you think it was? He seems pretty clever, so I would say the first one. Okay.

I hope he didn't get got. Me too. Yeah.

Man, I've seen some shows. You run outside and somebody's well, it's not technically your vehicle. It's their vehicle. That's why the repo man is taking it.

But people people get mad when you approach their car now. Hey, Mike is calling from Grand Rapids. You're on CBS Sports Radio. What's up, Mike?

Hey, JR. Give me a couple of coins on a couple of things. I agree with you. I don't believe sports are scripted, man, that Baltimore Orioles, that's a one heck of a division there that they have to play and that's right.

Congrats to their team to have to beat New York and Tampa Bay and those are just that's a hard division to win in a lot easier than the AL Central. If people don't show up to watch the Tampa Bay Rays, do they still exist? Yeah. Okay. Just making sure. I don't know. I just making sure and just I think it relates a little bit to you could say that's a pretty darn script for the Lions going this year if everything's scripted out.

So they hold the Orioles a 27 year old grudge that guy was saying the Lions must look they must have a grudge against them too with the way they're playing this year. Right? I know. Right. I mean, come on now. Green Bay.

Let's see how the season ends. Okay. Yep. All right.

All right. Thank you, Mike for calling from Grand Rapids. There's a lot of amazing scripts that have been written, right? Just people that sit in a dungeon somewhere in an office building just writing out scripts. Forget the schedule makers just scripts.

That's it most calling from San Diego you're on the JR sport brief show. Yeah, if it was a scripted and my Cowboys would definitely have won like seven more of these things because everyone would want to see that or or hate that but I wanted to talk about that topic, you know, you know that that narrative about Jerry Jones and his struggles as a as a general manager versus the marketing side. I think people think that because the Cowboys are worth so much money that they have more money to get more players. They're a team that's in the same salary cap as everyone else. They have to deal with the same issues injuries and everyone else and so they go back and forth but it's hard to win championships and I want to give a couple of quick points here. The Cowboys have not won a championship in 27th season. I think it's 95 96 season the sense they won championship, right and it's well documented because everyone seems to have a clock out next tracking this counter while other teams don't have this but in that same 28 seasons, there have only been 13 franchises who won championships the other 19 haven't won that because it's hard and you know, which one those 19 haven't won the San Francisco 49ers they haven't won since 94, but no one talks about that and I'm pretty sure well, it's it's because it's because they've actually gone back to the Super Bowl a few times great and having said that hold on Mo here's the deal you're correct and I've never heard I've never heard what your point about the salary cap. And I think most people understand that the salary cap is pretty much the same across the NFL regardless of what the net worth of your franchise is.

This is the the gift and the curse of the marketing of Jerry Jones, correct when you're able to inflate and boost the team and make the team bigger than life the expectations come along with that. And so when you talk about the teams that haven't won a Super Bowl that people don't care as much because there's not as much interest in the team. That's that's it flat period I can tell you about another and we got we got a few glamour teams here in North America in the United States of America when it comes down to professional sports. There's a reason that Yankee fans walk around like they're you know, what don't stink. It's because of the history and the prestige of the New York Yankees. And so it doesn't matter if the Yankees haven't won a title since 2009 the Yankees are still at the top. They're still looked upon with disdain their fans still expect the championship.

It don't matter win lose or draw. It's like hey, we want more and the Dallas Cowboys are no different when you get the hype and you get the attention and you make the money and you're bigger than life. Yeah, you're going to get that attention and that criticism and more than other teams in that grouping and JR you are 1000% correct.

I know that and you know that but I'm a football guy like I'm a I'm a guy who's played and watching follow just my whole life. I don't look at it that way and what gets me is when we're on talk shows with other people who are sports people who are analysts. Yeah, I know, you know, the token fan is going to say that because you're right but for people who are real sports people they are falling into this thing and it's like dude, we got to deal with the same injury the same salary cap as everyone else and we got to deal with the same draft as everyone else and we're trying to travel and climb that ladder.

It's it's it's it's it's entertainment mall. Don't fall into it brother. It's entertainment. People say a lot of things just in the just to be entertaining. So that's that's how that goes man.

That's the nature of the beast. Okay. Yes, sir. I get it.

I understand it and I follow it but I just like to you know, make that record known for everyone out there, you know, even though it's going to go back and we're going to talk about it the same way when they fail to fall short. It's like dude, this is a this is a difficult deal this Super Bowl thing winning it ain't but two teams going and but one team winning everyone else is falling short and that's how it is for all teams now, well, let's all yeah, well, let's name a team that won't win the Super Bowl this year. Mo. Give me one. All of them except for one. I mean, I just you just you just you know, not give me one. Give me one.

You know is not winning the Super Bowl this year. Go ahead. The Washington commanders not happening. Oh, there you go. Well, thank you. Mo.

You be safe out in San Diego. Okay. Bye. Shep.

Shep say something something. Oh, Mo. You take it easy, man.

You take it easy by the way Mo make make sure you get all and thank you too many put too many tokens post fans to most point. I agree. So many what too many token sports fans most right? What does that mean?

What do you mean by that? There's just too many people that drink the Kool-Aid that oh, yeah. You calling some fans stupid. No, I'm calling them some fans and I hate to use this. I hate to use this word. I want to hear it though.

Go ahead. No, no, I hate to use this word because I love our fans, but there's too many fans that are misguided because too many people in the media are in the pockets of owners and they are ultimately media companies. Let me just say this Jr. And you know this, you know this to be all damn well true Pat McAfee might as well be in in he might as well be the PR for Aaron Rodgers at this point because we're not we're not we're not talking about sports selling agendas. We are we are putting narratives to the table that the people we are interviewing want to see put to the table. That's all that's all these interviews on these days then then Aaron Rodgers say something about vaccines today. Yeah, and you know what then Pat McAfee is going to get the guy who he said something about vaccines and wants to do Mano a Mano and then he's going to kiss his ass because that's all Pat McAfee does. He's a he's he is a mouthpiece and a PR guy for anyone that comes on his show and he is yet to ask one journalistic integral question that actually educates people.

It's more just about making these guys look good. He's an entertainer. That's what he is. But have a backbone Pat McAfee have some spine don't just do something because it pleases your guest every time I mean that dude is making what 80 per yeah, and he sold his soul in the process.

Well, it's a Mickey Mouse right and it listen listen Jr. The guy was a great punter. I'm not going to take anything away to kick a ball.

He did and he's a talented SOB, but it's a shame that so many guys in the media have now put you know, they want to disperse a certain agenda that athletes and coaches want to be proud there. Otherwise, they shut off from talking to that said person. And so you kind of you kind of you know, you kind of dance with the devil, you know, so to speak. I'm not I'm not going to be mad. I don't I don't I don't well, but you're entitled to your opinion wouldn't sell your soul. You wouldn't take 80 minutes we SPN to be a PR guy for the you know, I wouldn't do I didn't play no NFL. I'm just a guy talking about sports man. So I'm different.

So but that's why that's why I'm not I'm not mad. You know, I don't consider myself to be no damn journalist because I'm not you know, I mean, I find myself to be educated. I know the business of sports. I've worked in it. I've talked about it. I you know, so I have a everybody has a different background.

And so there are journalists. That's why we talked about podcasts last week, you know, we can look at the top podcast. I'm not I'm not going to expect the same thing from a podcast that I am from, you know, I don't know 360 or something.

So different strokes of different folks. I think all of the different options are great and that doesn't mean I got to pay attention and watch but you do bring up a point. Yeah, he has given Aaron Rodgers a platform and we're going to take a break. We're going to get to your calls and then we are probably at the top of the hour. We're going to hear from Aaron Rodgers because he is just digging up dirt.

This man likes to fight for no damn reason. It's the JR sport brief show on CBS Sports radio. I'm gonna get to your calls.

We'll hear what Aaron Rodgers had to say had nothing to do with the Jets just wild stuff. You're listening to the JR sport brief on CBS Sports radio. You're listening to the JR sport brief on CBS Sports radio. What's up? Jr. Man.

I wonder first by saying I love the show and thank you for keeping so real on so many different topics. Call in now at eight five five two one two four CBS. Yeah. It is the JR sport be show on CBS Sports radio need to let you know this portion of the show is brought to you by Wesley Financial stuck in a timeshare and want out contact Wesley Financial Group now and get a free timeshare exit information kit at Wesley Financial Group dot com.

Man. I'm going to get in as many calls as possible before we have to hit the break. I told you that Aaron Rodgers is running his yap again.

I think he's in a time warp but he's running his yap and I will hear from Aaron Rodgers at the top of the hour. And I know tonight is the start of the NHL season. Congratulations to the Golden Knights as they come out and start and begin the defense of their title their championship.

And then in the NBA we got a lot more teams in action in the preseason. We even have someone making his preseason debut with his new team and he has been ejected. I'll let you take a guess who it is. I'm going to tell you who it is at the top of the break. The top of the hour I should say. And we'll hear the ejection. This guy is he is a clown to the umpteenth degree.

Anyway eight five five two one two four CBS is eight five five two one two four CBS. Ryan is calling from Virginia. You're on the JR sport show.

What's going on Ryan? Yeah. What's up? Happy Tuesday.

Thank you. What's going on? So real quick I don't know if all Nationals fans feel the same way that I do kind of snickering at their sweep here of the Orioles the way that Peter Angelos has a stronghold here on the learners and the Nationals after that math and deal. But while we're on the topic of grudges in the MLB I kind of wish Nats fans in general would get over their resentment of Bryce Harper.

Are they not? Are they not thinking does anybody care or talk about it? I don't think anybody cares.

Yeah I think they still do. I was at the game two months ago and fans here in Nats town are still booing him which I don't think is very warranted. I mean well yeah he's gonna get booed but I don't think that's just sports man I don't think anybody cares like he's gone like he left. Well Trey Turner came up to the plate and we weren't booing his ass so.

Yeah but Bryce Harper is he's a bigger star I mean when you're the biggest star the bigger name the bigger personality it's gonna be different and then it's just it's a different scenario he's a super superstar man different world you gonna get booed that's how it goes. All right one more quick hypothetical and so does Arthur Smith committing to Dez and Ritter this weekend you don't think that playing Taylor Heineke against the commanders is a smart play? No man I mean Ritter probably had his best game man why would you sit him?

Uh because all right touche all right. Oh yeah thank you Ryan I mean the man the man threw for 300 plus yards why why all of a sudden you gonna sit him? You had a whole lot of opportunity to sit him now you're gonna just throw out Heineke? You know Heineke break glass in case of an emergency I know there are a lot of people who are expecting more out of Ritter like he's gonna get his chance and his opportunity I mean for the most part the Falcons have been the worst passing team in the entire NFL and this man showed some life this past weekend this past Sunday let let let Ritter get another chance another shot another opportunity man let him play. It's the JR Sportbree show here with you on CBS Sports Radio we're gonna take a break because I have to I'm obligated to commercials are gonna come on in a second they're gonna cut me off and when we get to the top of the break we're gonna hear from Aaron Rodgers he's not playing for the New York Jets he got a lot of time on his hands besides rehab and he's taking an opportunity to take more shots ha ha ha at Travis Kelce and then NBA preseason guess who got ejected in a preseason game we'll hear it on the other side it's the JR Sportbree show here on CBS Sports Radio more NFL more baseball postseason and even NBA talk I got you here on CBS Sports Radio don't move.
