Yo, yo, that's right. It's Zach Gelb Show on CBS Sports Radio. We're coming to you live from the Rockin' Mortgage Studios.

Need to know what it takes for a home to fit your budget and your family? Well, Rock, it can. You know, I feel like I'm being left out of the party. Each and every Sunday, I keep you informed on ION Football, eight hours, stadium to stadium. We have BetQL updates on that show, a Fantasy 5 as well, and we have postgame audio from the locker room. We get players in the hotline. It's a fun show. I enjoy doing it. But then I see all these pictures on Instagram of my friends or people tweeting me, oh, I'm at the game.

And then I'm like sitting there in the rain as I'm in this little lonely studio all by myself with two TVs and then an iPad up to get four or five more games up there. If Sunday Ticket actually wants to cooperate, can you guys get your damn act together? It's been ridiculous. And I go, I'm a little bit jealous. I miss a good tailgate. So I'm going to a football game this weekend. I'm seeing a little UMass and Temple at Lincoln Financial Field all pumped up. And I'm going to really enjoy Saturday, the tailgate experience.

I'm going to my man Silky's tailgate down there, Rob Silk, who does a great job. He always got crazy things on the grill. I'll have meatballs. They'll be clams.

He's going to have wings. And then he always kind of releases late Friday night what the main course is going to be. In the past, we've seen filet mignon cheesesteaks. There's been some great quesadillas some other times. Chicken sandwich. Like, I don't know what it's going to be, but I'm very excited. And Rob Silk always wears a, I think it's like a Temple kilt.

And is a great job just manning that grill. So I'm very excited to be in South Philadelphia on Saturday to watch my Owls led by Kurt Warner's kid, EJ Warner, as the starting quarterback for Temple. Temple had a nice little game up against Rutgers over the weekend.

They lost by two, but they lost last year to Rutgers 61 to 14. So that's a lot of progress. And then I think I'm going into enemies territory, a little bit. I may. It's in the works.

I think it's going to happen. And not that I'm a high state fan, but you've heard my opinions on Penn State football throughout the years. I think coming up in a few weeks, I'm going to be making a little trip to Happy Valley to go watch all Penn State, Ohio State.

One of my buddies, a big time, big time Penn State fan. And before people say, are you bringing Hickey? Hickey doesn't want to go to a Penn State game with me. I said, I'll get you the ticket. We'll go.

We'll have fun. Hickey goes, I cannot watch a Penn State football game with you. So I offered him. I gave him the golden ticket.

And he said, thanks, but no thanks. That fraud. And then I'm taking one off day, one off day. Where December 1st, going to Foxborough, the tailgate with a crew that I have a tailgating crew Thursday night football.

So I'll be back on Friday for that show. I'm going a little Patriot Bills, which, by the way. I was at that Patriot Bills game last year in the playoffs where Josh Allen just mother bleeped the New England Patriots. It could be worse.

I didn't know it could get worse. It could be worse this year as the Buffalo Bills just look simply unstoppable. They beat the Rams by 21 last night.

It was 41 to 7. And Josh Allen didn't even play the stinking damn fourth quarter. Should have probably said the damn stinking fourth quarter.

Whatever it is, it sounds good to me. So right now where we currently sit in the NFL, as Alex Anzalone from the Detroit Lions linebacker captain going to join us coming up 20 minutes from now. When we look at the undefeated teams, the Dolphins and Bills play one another this weekend. And it's only Tuesday.

Usually you're still reacting to what happened this past weekend. My eyes are already focused to that Dolphins-Bills game on Sunday. I can't wait for that game because the Dolphins, I thought they were starting to regress and show you that they're still not there yet. On Sunday up against the Ravens and then out of nowhere, they outscore the Baltimore Ravens in that fourth quarter, 28 to 3. So I give them a lot of credit for coming back in that game.

And to a tongue of my love, I had six passing touchdowns, waddle speed, Tyree kills speed all over the place. And now the Dolphins are going to be at home this weekend and they welcome in Buffalo, who has just destroyed them as of late. That's a game this weekend. You lean towards Buffalo. But if the Dolphins somehow emerge 3-0, you think the media darling Mike McDaniel buzz is already at a big time rate?

It would just grow louder and louder and louder. And for the Buffalo Bills, here's something just to chew on. I don't usually love the whole undefeated talk in the NFL. But since the 72 Dolphins just love to remind you that they were undefeated and then pop champagne and fire off victory cigars. It's really just Mercury Morris who I'm not a big fan of.

I don't know why. I guess he said some obnoxious things with the Patriots loss in 07. But since they're playing the Dolphins this weekend and I wasn't alive in 72, it just got my mind thinking, could the Bills go undefeated? And if the Bills get through October without a loss, it's got a chance.

I don't think it will happen because the game's just too good the next few weeks. Miami, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Kansas City, Green Bay. But then if they get through that undefeated at 7-0, after that, Jets, Vikings, Browns, Lions, Pats, Jets, Miami, Chicago, Cincinnati, and the Pats.

Just something to think about right now when you look at the Buffalo Bills. So I do think the Dolphins will fall to 2-1 this weekend. Bills will go 2-3-0. Kansas City is 2-0.

And they have the Indianapolis Colts this weekend in Indianapolis. I think this should be an easy win for the Kansas City Chiefs, but I have watched football enough where whenever a team just gets embarrassed and emasculated like the way that the Colts do, everyone tells you that the Chiefs are going to win. And I think the Chiefs are going to, I'm not picking against the Chiefs. I'll lay the number on the Chiefs. I don't care if that number's at infinity, I'll lay it this weekend.

But we've seen crazier things happen before. But I do think the Chiefs will go to 3-0. And that's for undefeated teams in the AFC.

That's it. Dolphins 2-0. Bills 2-0. Chiefs 2-0.

And then you get to the NFC. Who would have ever thought in a million years that the New York Giants would be 2-0? Wait, hold on. Carlos, are you a Giants fan? I can't hear you, Carlos. So I still can't hear you. So I guess this is just not going to work.

We're not meant to connect. Just like how a lot of Giants fans probably are pinching themselves right now and not thinking that it's reality that the Giants are 2-0. But they are. And to give them credit, Brian Deball, in an organization that's been tortured for years, in an organization that recently, they've been the worst team in the league from a record standpoint, you've seen this Giants team have new energy, new life. I'm not telling you they're going to make the playoffs this year.

I don't think they're going to make the playoffs this year. The Giants. But this is a Giants team that they've at least made you want to watch the rest of the season. So many times you get to October, November, you get to the first week of November, the Giants season is already over the last few years. This Giants team being at 2-0 at least sucked you in a little bit. And to win the way they did up against Tennessee, the aggressiveness, awesome.

Then you beat the Panthers. Not like it was this great performance, but they found a way to get the job done. They're showing you that when you bring in competent football people, and I'm not telling you Joe Shane and Brian Deball are going to save the Giants, but they're competent football people. Dave Gettleman was way past his good moments in the NFL. Joe Judge was just a con artist.

Preached all these things and didn't back it up. You look at the Giants, especially the next two weeks, you have a Monday night game up against the Cowboys, a home game. Then you get the Bears. They could be 4-0. If they're anything less than 3-1, it'd kind of be disappointing at this point. Eagles are 2-0. I think the Eagles are legit. Jalen Hurts is playing excellent football right now.

That defense is kickass. And you look at this Eagles team, the schedule just the next 5-6 weeks. Commanders this weekend, please beat Carson once. Then you have the Jaguars going up against Dougie P. The only coach in the franchise history to win a Super Bowl. Cardinals, Cowboys, maybe Dak will be back by then. Steelers and Texans. This is an Eagles team. They have two losses after that stretch.

You'd kind of be a little bit disappointed. So the Eagles are a very good football team. And I thought the Eagles were going to win the NFC East.

I've been saying that since the draft. They could be better than just an NFC East champion. And then you do have Tampa Bay, who's also 2-0. And the Bucks, their defense has been kickass to start off the year. It's looking like the defense from two years ago that won a Super Bowl.

Offensively, they're going through it right now. Offensive line injuries even before the season started. Now Chris Godwin was back, now he's hurt. Mike Evans looks like he's suspended and is going to miss this week's game.

And they brought in Cole Beasley. So we'll see if he will get on the field this weekend. Julio Jones looked good in Week 1, then didn't play in Week 2. And for the Buccaneers, their next two weeks.

Look at these matchups. Next two weeks for the Bucks. Brady Rodgers in Tampa, 4-25 on Fox. And the following week, Sunday Night Football.

Brady and the Bucks in Tampa up against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. You know what though I've been missing on Sunday Night Football? Carlos, did you figure out your microphone here? I think I did. Testing 1-2-3, testing 1-2-3. I had to text our ingenious associate producer at the network, Jack Stern.

I'm like, did you have an issue with the mic? Jack Stern and genius. I thought that was marinated in sarcasm, but we just have to make sure. Oh, no, no, no. I said ingenious. Oh. Okay, so Jack Stern, he messed up the microphone. So I reached out, he's like, I'm on the phone.

I'm like, alright, fine, I don't need you. Lo and behold, I look and it's not in program one. So I'm over here talking to the ether when I'm trying to get to you. So people that have no clue what we're talking about right now.

The microphone needs to be in program one for Carlos' beautiful voice to make it onto the airwaves. Hello, America. So you know what I realized? The last two weeks. Yeah, two weeks now.

Since we're two weeks into the football season. No Chris Collins worth slide in this year. That's been a big thing when he gets on the camera. He slides in right next to Al Michaels. I saw an interview today with Kay Adams. Kay Adams does a wonderful job. Kay Adams was interviewing Chris Collins worth.

And since that's been kind of a big social media topic, sometimes ingest, sometimes seriously. Kay Adams asked Chris Collins worth about it. Not that this is riveting stuff. Not that this makes for great radio, but I found it to be compelling. Chris Collins worth explain the inner workings of the production of Sunday Night Football. Al Michaels would start off with this opening monologue. Like we're emanating from Dallas where Jerry Jones and the Green Bay and the Dallas Cowboys go up against the Green Bay Packers. And they're struggling the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay has Aaron Rodgers who is doing all these crazy things off the field. It's the Cowboys and the Packers and I welcome in my broadcast partner Chris Collins worth. And then you would have Chris Collins worth slide in.

Here's a guy. Now Chris, yeah. Chris told some weird story how originally they would like put tape down and he would sit on the tape. And then the producer said his butt was still in the shot. So then he would just lean all the way to the right and then just slide in like this is only when you listen to this audio.

It's only the way that Collins worth could tell it where you're saying what the bleep but I'm somewhat entertained and I somewhat find it amusing. And I like Chris Collins worth. So then Collins were said since Mike to Rico's his new broadcast partner. That Mike to Rico doesn't do the opening monologue.

So it's just both of them to start the game next to each other. It's not Al Michaels only solo shot monologue Collins were slide in. The reason why there's no slide in this year is because when it opens up Sunday Night Football bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum. That it's to Rico right next to Collins worth no opening monologue of just Mike to Rico. So I think we need to get to Rico on the phone and to Rico's come on this show quite a few times always been very benevolent to me. I think we have to find a way to get to Rico on early like maybe we'll do this next week or maybe at some point by the end of this week and demand. That we do get a Chris Collins or slide and I think Mike to Rico has to go back. To doing the Al Michaels kind of opening monologue for the Sunday night game this week 49ers and Broncos.

That's what I it's perfect. You do an opening monologue to Rico for like two minutes Jimmy G playing Trey Lance hurt Nathaniel Hackett being a bum Russell Wilson struggling to start his Broncos career. And then Chris, what do you think you have Collins were just lied to the left to the right whichever way he slides in they could be slide to the right and you have Collins were just slide on it.

That's what I think needs to happen. So it's on Mike to Rico. If you're mad that there's not a Collins or slide could be on the producers to it's on NBC not having the solo Mike to Rico monologue.

So we need to slide back because I feel like football Sundays, even though I love them. It's not right with that at Chris Collins worth slide in on the broadcast. Zach Gil show CBS Sports Radio Detroit Lions.

They are one and one nice victory up against the commanders Alex Anzalone for the Lions on their defense. Our linebacker will join us next. You're listening to the Zach Gelb show.

He's back. Here's Zach Gelb. We continue this Zach Gelb show coast to coast on CBS Sports Radio. The Detroit Lions are one and one to start off the football season. They have an NFC North showdown this weekend on Sunday at one o'clock up against the Minnesota Vikings in Minnesota. They just had a victory 36 to 27 over the Washington commanders and now joining us from the Lions defense is Alex Anzalone kind enough to jump back on the Zach Gelb show Alex appreciate the time.

Congrats on the win. How are you? I'm good. How are you?

Well, I'm doing fantastic. I loved your dance moves last time you were on. We talked about your luscious locks, but those are some good dance moves in the end zone after the safety. Yeah, I did the safety dance.

You don't get those you don't get those pretty frequent. So when we got it, I had to do it and I was actually surprised. I like your safety dance because usually when I think of a safety, I think of a big fat defensive lineman dancing and jumping around not a linebacker, but you did have some good dance moves there Alex. Thank you. Thank you.

I appreciate it. How would you evaluate your dancing skills by the way? They're above average. I would say above average.

They're not like the tight end for Miami. Oh, Giseke. That's great. Alex Anzalone here with us. So nice win for you guys. You had a close one up against Philly a week ago. Just had you process it walking off the field as early on it looked like you guys were going to blow them out and that became a football game in the fourth quarter.

Yeah, you know, they're obviously really good team. I don't you know now and you know, just defensively is a little frustrating but we had to lock in on week to following that loss and you know, see what we can do and improve on and get ready for the commanders and we were able to do that. What was the key to that quick start because you guys are up 22 to nothing and you really took control of the football game early with Donald your offense, but also what you guys were able to do defensively. I think it's like you say just you just start fast as a defense near Simon sound you do your job with whatever your job description is and you play hard and play with high energy and high effort defensively and usually that that equates to a quick start and we were able to do that and you know, it turned around into you know, five really good series. I think it was and defensively and we were able to get that 22 nothing weight, you know, it's so tough to keep that production up the entire game when you guys are just forcing three and outs after three and outs Alex Anzalone like you guys were saying in the second half Washington really started to settle in and then they made it a football game scoring 27 points in the second half. What did you sense was the biggest difference from half one to have to you know, when you get a an offense in that type of situation, they start, you know, shooting the shots and you know, they get they try to get chunk plays and they were doing some gadget plays that hit us a little bit and you know, that's kind of what you get the weather that storm and it's tough as a defense, but at the same time you just have to lock into your job responsibility have good eye discipline and especially in the back end. How would you describe the energy around this team because we know Detroit's been in a rough spot for so many years. You got some positive attention on hard knocks you drop that game to the Eagles now you bounce back with the victory over the commanders.

What's the energy like in that locker room is really good energy. I think Dan and Brad did a really good job bringing in the right guys the right again the right 53 this year. But even last year, I feel like they really want to develop the culture. But now it's time to develop a winning culture and last week, you know, just build on that and we just have to keep going with it. You were with the Saints to start your career. Now, you're in your number two with the Lions you talk about that winning culture.

How far away do you think Detroit is since you know what it's like to be around the team that wins a lot of football games. Yeah, I mean, the culture is similar I think that Dan has done a good job of implementing that but I think that, you know, now it's time to experience the wind and know what it takes to win and how to win and do all the little things to build that winning culture like I just mentioned, because that's really the biggest difference between, you know, organizations that you know traditionally went a ton and organizations that don't. And Dan was with the Saints for so many years so it makes sense why the culture is similar and you got to play in the same locker room as him just did you realize I know he was an assistant head coach and coaching the tight ends and you're defensive player, but did you realize that this guy maybe had some potential to become a head coach one day because I think a lot of people were surprised when he got the job. Yeah, I mean, from my perspective, it wasn't surprising just because you see, you know, when he would talk in front of the team you see his charisma now that you know all of America has seen through hard knocks and Twitter and everything like that. But, yeah, it's easy to tell those types of coaches and leaders that, you know, just draw everyone's attention and he's definitely one of them.

What's the favorite story that you have with Dan Campbell because I feel like the legend grows day by day with all the crazy stuff that we hear. Man, yeah, you know, I feel like what you see in the what you see in, you know, on in this competition, press conferences is what we get in team meetings and, you know, I think that hard knocks did a really good giving a good insight on what he's like and, you know, I can't think of one specific specific story, but the, you know, those team meetings never ended. And, you know, that's just who he is and, you know, that's the best thing about him. He is who he is and, you know, and that's what everyone respects about him.

Alex Anzalone, some people love hard knocks, some people can't stand it. It seemed like your team really enjoyed the experience. Yeah, honestly, it wasn't that bad. They were pretty nonchalant about the cameras. You know, they would tell you in practice if you were miked up before, so it wasn't too of a too much of a hassle. But yeah, and other than the cameras being in the meeting, they're pretty they did a really good job of, you know, kind of staying away, but also, you know, getting the content they wanted. I got to talk to you about the rookie Aiden Hutchinson out of Michigan, who in his second career game had three sacks up against the commanders.

You're there day in and day out. What has impressed you so far the most about Aiden Hutchinson and what seems like so far a seamless transition to the NFL? Yeah, I think that, you know, right away as a player, you can tell that he was polished and ready to go as an NFL player. But the biggest thing for me as a, you know, a peer of his is that the way he carries himself. It's definitely not like, you know, the typical rookies.

He just comes in and works and he doesn't talk a lot. But, you know, you could see the work that he puts in in practice and, you know, he really cares about, you know, how he does and how he can help the team win. So, you know, being the number two overall pick, it's, you know, it kind of strokes your ego a little bit, but you don't see that at all from him. That Billie Jean moment on Hard Knocks, it seemed like it was a big bonding experience for the entire team. Yeah, it was great, especially because we just didn't expect that from him. What did you think of his singing skills if you had to be like Simon Cowell on American Idol?

She was better than mine, so I gave him an A. You know, you talked about his leadership and the way that he conducts himself. I got a chance after the game on Sunday to talk to Charles Harris and he said he kind of is already a veteran. Like, that's the way he views of him because of the way that he just carries himself. He feels like he's a veteran even though he's only two games into his career. Yeah, for sure.

That's a really good way to put it. I think that, you know, you see him doing all the right things that a veteran would do and, you know, that takes years and years for some guys to develop. He has it right now, which is great. I saw a tweet from my sports update that Amanrah St. Brown is the third player in NFL history to record eight plus catches in eight straight games, joining Michael Thomas and Antonio Brown. He has a chance to break that record this upcoming week up against Minnesota.

I know this week everyone's going to be talking about Jefferson and Thielen because they have some really explosive wide receivers there in Minnesota. But how about your guy, Amanrah St. Brown, because he's really starting to take this league by storm. Yeah, I feel like the best trait that he has is his competitive nature. He has that dog in him and that's really what sets him above anyone else. You know, and that rolls over to his attention to detail in his route running, how hard he works off the field and on the field. And, you know, I know he puts in the work to do what he does on Sunday, but also when Sunday comes his talent takes over. And, you know, I know he was looked over in the draft and, you know, even last year at times. So it's good to see, you know, that story, you know, come to fruition and show the player who he really is and, you know, breaking records in the second year. Do you feel like he's one of the better wide receivers in the NFL?

Yeah, for sure. I think that what he can do and, you know, he's very, very multiple in what he can do. You know, he can play running back if he really had to. But from his blocking to, you know, his route running to his ability to catch the ball to, you know, running the ball when he has to. I think that, you know, that puts him up there in that upper echelon. Yeah, it was unbelievable because over the weekend he had the nine catches for 116 yards and two scores.

And then he only got two carries but he led your team in rushing getting 68 yards as well. So definitely someone kind of, you know, I don't know if you make the comparison right away to Deebo Samuel but could be used in multiple ways. Yeah, yeah, I think very similar in that aspect. Yeah, he just has that competitive nature that, you know, allows him to do that.

A lot of guys aren't willing to do that even if they have that ability. So kudos to him for, you know, doing whatever it takes to help the team win. What did you, did you watch the game last night with the Vikings upcoming? I know they had a rough night offensively but did you watch the Monday Night Football game last night? Yeah, I did, I did.

You know, it gives you a little introductory to, you know, what your, you know, film coming up, you know, earlier this week. How do you try to slow down the Vikings? You know they're going to be hungry, you know they're going to be looking to bounce back.

They're at home. Kirk Cousins, good quarterback. Justin Jefferson could be one of the best wide receivers in football. Dalvin Cook's tremendous. Just how do you try to slow them down this week again? Yeah, it's tough because, like you said, they have Justin Jefferson, they have Elon, they have explosive, you know, a couple other explosive receivers.

And I even saw the tight end get involved in their offense last night. And, you know, having to stop that and then have Dalvin stop the run with Dalvin Cook and what he can do out of the backfield. You know, it's a big challenge for a defense and, you know, Kirk Cousins is, sets everything up really well with what he does and what he likes to do. So, it's a big challenge for us. But, you know, it just kind of goes to what are your keys to victory and what do you want to do and how to do it. I know it's early in the week.

It's only Tuesday and today's an off day for you guys. But what do you think the major point of emphasis will be from Aaron Glenn this week going up against that Vikings offense? Yeah, I feel like you have to stop the run. You know, that's with a lot of NFL offenses that you have to stop the run and make them one dimensional.

And getting them situations where you can predict. But, you know, I think that's definitely going to be a point of emphasis just because how, you know, Dalvin Cook has that home run ability to, you know, hit a touchdown anywhere on the field. So, we have to be on our P's and Q's from a linebacker perspective for sure. Wrap it up with Alex Anzalone from the Detroit Lions. What do you think, I know it's only two games in, but what do you think the biggest difference is from this team last year to this year?

That's a good question. I feel like, one, our roster is better. Brad and Dan did a really good job of acquiring really good talent. I feel like just the confidence around the building is, you know, it wasn't that we were confident last year, but I think that a lot of guys were kind of just dipping their toe in the water as far as mentality wise. And now it's like we wake up and we expect to win. So, I feel like that's the biggest difference, just that little change of mindset, you know, among the whole team and coaching staff. And, you know, there really are no excuses anymore.

It's time to win now and that's what we want to do. What do you say to someone that just goes, okay, it's the same old Lions, they'll find the way to mess it up and they don't believe in you guys? I mean, we don't listen to that noise. You know, a lot of the players are from different backgrounds and, you know, there's been a lot of turnover as far as the roster. So, a lot of guys are, you know, this is my second year being with Detroit and, you know, I don't think a lot of guys are in the same boat. So, we're not used to that.

We don't have that mindset and, you know, we don't listen to that and we're not going to conform to it. So, that's really my mindset and I know a lot of guys in the locker room. Last one, I know you're a Gator. That's going to be some game this weekend up against Tennessee between those two quarterbacks. I know Richton struggled the last two games, but him up against Hendon Hooker should be a fun one.

Yeah, for sure. I watch my Gators every weekend. Obviously, the past couple of weeks have been, you know, I wish we would have dominated a little bit last week and then losing to Kentucky when you're in Florida is never acceptable. So, you know, I hope we can pull it off. It's going to be a good one. It's going to be a hard-fought game, but hopefully you guys can come out on top. Well, Alex Anzalone, we appreciate the time.

Good luck this upcoming weekend up against the Vikings and thanks for giving us a few moments. Awesome. Thank you, Zach. You're listening to the Zach Gelb show.

You're listening to the Zach Gelb show. So Mike Evans is suspended for one game. I'm reading these reports from this whole fight. So there was an appeal today and we have not found out what the decision of the appeal is going to be, if it's going to be overturned or not.

It will be tomorrow is when you will find that out, according to Mike Garofalo. Now, Evans, I'm okay with him getting ejected in that game. Brady was going back and forth with one of the players on the Saints. And then, you know, there's history between Marshawn Lattimore and Mike Evans. Then Mike Evans, when there was a kerfuffle, then ran over and escalated the situation and dumped gasoline onto the fire when he decked Marshawn Lattimore.

Now I say deck and that could seem a little bit violent. It wasn't as violent as they made it out to be. Yeah, it was a fight. When it's the NFL and people are tackling each other. Yeah, you can't have someone run over and shove another player. Now, I didn't see a punch thrown by Mike Evans, but it was a hard shove. If this game is upheld, I guess you get what you deserve.

You can't really fight it. But as a football fan, when you have the Buccaneers and the Packers getting together, and this is why I sound conflicted and I'm hesitating on this. When you get the Buccaneers and the Packers playing coming up on Sunday, I want to see Mike Evans on the field.

I don't have to be politically correct. I don't have to say shame on Mike Evans. Mike Evans don't get into a fight even though it was boneheaded and it didn't need to happen.

And yeah, it's stupid. And it costs your team maybe a game without you when your receiving core is all banged up. Who knows if Julio Jones plays this week. Who knows if Chris Galvin is going to play.

They're going to sign Cole Beasley. But as selfishly as a football fan that wants to see a great football game between the Buccaneers and the Packers. Where other than Brady and Rodgers, the star presence is lacking a little bit in this game. No more Devante Adams, sure Aaron Jones is still a heck of a player for the Green Bay Packers. For the Bucs, they have so many injuries. Both teams' offensive lines are messed up right now. Good that Elton Jenkins is back for the Green Bay Packers.

I want to see my stars in the big game. So personally, I want to see Mike Evans play. So I hope he does win his appeal. However though, if we find out tomorrow that the appeal stands, which I would expect it would.

Then there's really nothing you can argue or contest about because it's clear what he did. I did see someone, I don't know who, but someone in the Tampa Bay media was quote tweeting. Because John Runyon Jr. issued the suspension I guess. Or John Runyon that his son plays for the Packers. John Runyon Jr. Oh it's a conflict of interest.

Come on. I actually interned for John Runyon. John Runyon who I guess now hands out all these suspensions. John Runyon used to work at Sports Radio 94 WIP. He was on the Angelo Cataldi morning show.

Like once or twice a week. Big John Runyon. Great guy.

Funny guy too. Especially for an offensive lineman. Sometimes offensive linemen are hit or miss. Offensive linemen can be the life of the party that can be some of the biggest boring people on the team. But I like John Runyon and I don't think that's a big deal.

People are like freaking out. Oh John Runyon he's just suspending Mike Evans because his son's playing the- Yeah that's not how that works. Suspending Mike Evans because Mike Evans shoved Marshawn Lattimore. Pushed him to the ground. But I do hope that gets overturned.

And I know people are going to say oh well that's not right. You should want to see a suspension. I want to see the best players on the field. We only get now 18 weeks of football in the regular season.

They added a week so you get 18 weeks of football. With all the injuries, suspensions, all that stuff. If it's avoidable.

I try to avoid it. Is it the end of the world if you just heavily find Mike Evans and haven't played this week? I would say no. But since they already ruled the suspension I'd be surprised if it is overturned. But the appeal was today. And with how quickly this process happened. And you know how long the NFL could take. I am a little bit surprised in terms of how quick this is going to go down.

That makes me think that it's going to be tough to get this thing overturned. So we talked about this last week. Everyone's trying to figure out when Brady was on the shop. And he said I can't believe that team when he was a free agent chose that mother bleeper over me.

There's been a lot of speculation. We've zeroed in on Jimmy G. We've zeroed in on Ryan Tannehill. Derek Carr. And then Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Up until this tampering stuff came out. I never thought it was Ryan Fitzpatrick. Then when the tampering stuff comes out I go oh that's a direct link with the Miami Dolphins. So maybe it is Ryan Fitzpatrick. But from the start I did not think it was Jimmy G. I've always thought it's been between Ryan Tannehill and Derek Carr. And recently there's been more evidence to come out that maybe suggests it was Derek Carr. Because Dana White claims that he was trying to get Tom Brady and Gronk to Las Vegas and then John Gruden nixed the whole thing. But the reason why I've always said I thought it was Ryan Tannehill is because right before free agency started.

You know there's clearly conversations that go on before free agency. The Titans agreed to a four year deal with Ryan Tannehill. And I know that Tannehill had a nice year and beat Brady in that playoff game. Had a nice throw with two on third down. One to a tight end and then one late to kind of put the game away. But if you're Mike Vrabel. You were face timing Edelman and Brady.

Courtside at that Syracuse game. Kind of thought Tennessee was in play. And if you bring Tom Brady you could think Super Bowl going back to 2020. Ryan Tannehill you're not winning a Super Bowl.

I don't care that you were just in the AFC Championship game. So Fitzpatrick was on part of my take. And they brought up Big Cat and PFT. They brought up the whole mother bleepers story to Ryan Fitzpatrick. And here's how he addressed it.

Seems like recent art. It had to be me. You think it was you? Yeah. I feel like Brady respects you.

No. Zero respect. Really? Never shake my hand. Really?

He wouldn't shake your hand? Well the first time. It just, I mean I've told this story before but it just pisses me off because you're in Buffalo. You're playing New England. They're kicking our ass every single year.

They're beating us. And we finally in 2011 knocked him off. It was right at the beginning of the season. We had this like great start. And he threw five interceptions in the game. Which was just wonderful to see.

Every single one of them was like wonderful to see. And run straight off. Like no handshake. No, you know, quarterback. Middle of the field.

Where are the cameras? Okay. Stay healthy buddy. You know. Pat me on the head and let me go. Like just ran straight off. So. It just. It bothered me so much.

Because there was no respect there. Yeah. And so it was like every time I played him after that I was like alright. Like. At least got like. Let's make this dude respect me. And ended up in New York with the Jets and with Miami beating him.

Both. You know, the last one was especially sweet because it was the tank for two a year. It was, you know, start out 0 and 7. Is this the worst football team of all time? They beat us by 40 something points at the beginning of the season. They needed to beat us to get home field advantage. And it was his last regular season game as a Patriot. And we go and we score at the end of the game and beat him.

You know, and then Kansas City gets home field and they win the Super Bowl that year. Did he shake your hand after that one? Yeah, I think so. Okay. I think I probably. Oh, you think so? I probably initiated it. See, here's the thing. You're bitching about a handshake that you initially didn't get years ago.

And then other times as you just admitted towards the end. Oh yeah, I think I got that handshake. You're still miffed about the first time you didn't get a handshake. Yeah, I think there's nothing more pathetic in professional sports. When after a loss we sit there and treat this like this is a Youth League game. Or this is Little League.

Or this is a college game. Everyone has to set an example and shake hands. I don't give a rat's ass if you shake hands with someone or not after a game.

And you have Ryan Fitzpatrick. Wait, Brady didn't shake my hand one time. Wait, give me a break. Shut up. Stop.

And then right at the end. Oh yeah, but years later I got the handshake. Like, who cares? You made a ton of money. You have a great life. You know, I got a good job with Amazon.

You went to Harvard. You're more intelligent than that, Ryan Fitzpatrick. There's still be bitching about this handshake. So Brady has this podcast, the Let's Go podcast with Jim Gray. Who I'm not the biggest fan of. And Jim Gray, to his credit, Jim knows how to ask some questions.

He's been doing this a long time. I just don't love how close Brady and Jim Gray are. Where it's like, why listen to it if you know that some questions may not be asked. But to Jim Gray's credit, he asked Tom Brady about Ryan Fitzpatrick.

This is on Sirius XM. Ryan Fitzpatrick. Oh God, not this again.

Yeah, go ahead. Let's talk about Ryan. And I love Ryan, but somehow he's got it out for me. And I actually talked to Ryan Griffin, who's one of our quarterbacks. He said, Ryan's always all over you.

I don't know why. So I don't know why Ryan is. Maybe Ryan and I need to have a talk. Ryan's a hell of a guy too, and I've competed against him. I mean, he's a Harvard guy. Now he looks like he's part homeless, and now he's on TV.

My future job is going to be. So I think Ryan's got a good thing going. I'm not sure why he needs to think that I'm after him or something like that. Is he the MF? Was he the guy? You want to finally come out and say that it was or wasn't him? You know, Scratchy, I like to keep him guessing.

Scratchy? Unfortunately, with this coming out, I'd have to tell him it wasn't him. Wow, OK, so now it could be 31 others.

Wow, it could be 31 others. Oh, come on. First off, Brady calling him Scratchy. That's why that relationship creeps me out, number one. Number two, Jim Gray, you know how awkward he is as a traditional broadcaster when he has to say, was he the MF? Like, it was just so awkward in the way that he said it. But I don't think Fitzpatrick is the mother bleeper. And I love the shot that Brady takes, a subtle shot.

Like, yeah, don't come, don't come tugging at Superman's cape. You look like you're homeless, dude. That was gold by TB12. So enough of Ryan Fitzpatrick, I didn't get my handshake. And I'm the mother bleeper because I hate Brady.

Like, dude, you're a nice person. You had an OK career. You never made the playoffs.

You never made the playoffs. But I didn't get a handshake from Tom Brady. So now all these years later, I got to cry.

But guess what? Several years later, I got the handshake. But I'm still going to bitch about the handshake that I didn't get. Ugh, he sounds pathetic and everyone loves Fitzpatrick. He's a man's man, I get it. But, jeez, that was not a good luck for Ryan. Zach Gelb's show, CBS Sports Radio. Visit trytheroom.com slash tech.
