Only one more day left in this month. The time is flying by. And tonight all alone is Kenny. Kenny's in that studio. And hopefully, well, it's 8 o'clock. Do you know what's in the studio with me?
Is that poltergeist still there? I haven't seen anything, Pastor, or heard anything, nothing weird, just yet. Well, don't worry. It'll get weird here. But anyhow, the title of the message is, is it the Holy Spirit or the Unholy Spirit? And we're going to be talking about talking and speaking in tongues tonight.
And the Bible says in Proverbs chapter 25 verse 14, Who so boasts as himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain. If you remember 28, 2008, we had a bad, very bad, bad drought that year. And I know I had a brand spanking new car, bought brand spanking new that year, and it was overheating with the air condition. It was very, very hot.
We lost a lot of cattle died that year. But the reason I'm saying that is as everybody was looking for rain, there would be times when the sky would get real dark, real dark. And the wind would kick up, and everybody's expecting, they're looking, hoping, we're going to get some rain, we're going to get some rain.
But there was no rain. And that's what this is. Who so boasts as himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain. And that's where these, especially this Word of Faith movement and these false teachers, you know, speaking in tongues. Here, many times over the years, I should say several times over the years, there have been people have called in on the radio program and told me about, and these are people that come, you know, from a foreign country. They might speak Polish or German. And they're over here, and they've gone to some of these Pentecostal churches, and there'd be somebody in there speaking in tongues.
But it would be in their language that they could understand. And I had a lady call me, she was so upset, she said that he was cursing God. He was cursing God. And nobody in there understood. But I understood because I understood the language.
I think it was Polish. And so, but that's happened several times. And the devil likes to imitate, he tries to imitate things, especially when it comes to the healing ministry. I remember watching, they had this older woman who had her leg, her ankle was about, you know, her ankle was about as big as a silver dollar a round. I mean, it was really, she had a leg that was all shriveled up in a wheelchair.
And one of the false teachers got her out there and got her to stand up and walk. But, you know, here's the thing, Kenny, God doesn't heal that. That healing does not come from God. When God heals someone, he makes you whole.
He would take that leg and that ankle, he would make it whole, okay? Not what they do. This is trickery, okay? And that's what so many of the sign gifts out there today. So we're going to take a look at and start tonight here in 1 Corinthians chapter 12. And 1 Corinthians chapter 12, my faithful co-host, we will start. Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant, know ye that were Gentiles and carried away with the dumb idols, even as you were led. Well, that word dumb there meant speechless, is what the word means, silent idols.
In other words, their wooden idols really couldn't say much. Wherefore, I give to you to understand that no man speaketh by the Spirit of God, calleth Jesus accursed, and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. Now, here again, we've seen these things in the past, and these people that you see speaking in tongues often.
For example, you know, we ought to talk about Paula White, okay? And she was prancing around now, and she says wherever she goes, when she walks on the White House grounds, God is in the White House grounds. Wherever she stands, that is holy ground. Wherever you see me standing, that's holy ground.
Wherever I stand, she said. And so, and she said, she said, God. Kenneth Copeland has said the same thing, okay?
And of course, the one on Jesse the Planet, see, he really goes off the deep end. So here, we see, Wherefore, I give to you understanding that no man speaketh by the Spirit of God, calleth him accursed, and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but the Holy Ghost. Well, Jesus said he is the only begotten Son of God, God the Son. Yeah. Paula White says he is not. Kenneth Copeland says he is not.
All of the prosperity, Word of Faith said that Jesus is not the only begotten Son of God. You think? It's just ridiculousness. It's just complete ridiculousness. Yeah. I know, but here, because of biblical literacy, the vast majority, when they have such large crowds, they play off people's greed.
They play off people's greed. He said now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. Now, he's got a name here, 13. There's 13 different gifts altogether.
He's got a name right here, seven of those. There are differences of administration, but the same Lord. There are diversities of operations, but it is the same God who worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit with all. For to no one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom, to another the word of knowledge, and by the same Spirit. Now, here's the thing. Again, there's 13 different gifts altogether.
You've got seven here, and over in Romans, chapter 12, I believe it is, verses 6 through 8, there's another six Paul talks about there. And so here now, he's saying that everybody has a gift. Some people have more than one gift, but nobody's got all the gifts. And there's not one particular gift that everybody has. And so he goes on, where it comes to what is given the Spirit, the word of wisdom, to another the word of knowledge, by the same Spirit.
Now, I've been in this book from cover to cover, right? And no place have I found where it's been very clearly defined what the Spirit of wisdom is and the word of knowledge. I know what it is by the same Spirit. I know what it's not. I know over in Proverbs, chapter 2, where they refer to as the Spirit of wisdom is referred to as her, as a woman, okay? And so some of those have taken that out of context.
And let me just jump over there very quick, okay? Proverbs, chapter 1, verse 20. Wisdom crieth without, she uttereth her voice in the streets, she crieth in the cheap places of concourse, and in the openings of the gates, in the city, she uttereth her words, saying, And of course, how long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity, and scorners delight in escorting to fools' hate and knowledge? Turn you to me, to my reproof, behold, and I will pour out my Spirit unto you, and I will make known my words to you. So, here he's referring to, here, that the word of knowledge and Spirit there is, you know, the Word of God. It's God's Word, okay? And God's truth, God's Word is understanding that. But what some of us have said, because she is in there, it refers to her or she, is that the Holy Spirit is actually in the female gender, which is totally false.
What's wrong with that message? Well, because Jesus and God are both male, and they're all the same, so... When Jesus referred to the Holy Spirit, did he say, when I come, a comforter will come, and he will, and when he is here, he shall, right?
He didn't say, and she will, so he's always referred to in the male gender, right? And so, this is another, one of those strange and false teachings you have. He goes on to say here, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the same Spirit. And so, when you're talking about gifts of healing, you notice that's plural, plural, meaning it's a repetitive gift, it's a gift that, you know, that we're used frequently in the early church. And so, here, you know, in fact, I wish I had that gift in my ears, you know, but you know, not everybody, even the apostle Paul, wasn't successful with his gift of healing. There were times where he didn't, in fact, if you go over to 1 Timothy chapter 4 verse 20, you read that Trophimus, Paul says Trophimus, I left at Militum, still sick.
Paul was unable to heal him there, and so, you know, sometimes, you know, when you pray and you ask for healing, the answer is no. And so, here, as he goes on, he says here, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another diverse kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues, but to all these worketh that one and the selfsame spirit dividing to every man, severally as he will. And so, here, what he's referring to, the gift of prophecy, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, so here now, prophecy was especially for believers, guidance.
That's what the gift of prophecy was before the New Testament was completed, and that was convening special revelations from God whenever needed for such purposes. So, here, this gift, along with tongues and knowledge, would definitely cease when it was no longer needed, okay, so there was a time coming when that was going to be no longer needed. He goes on to say, but all that worketh the one and the selfsame spirit divided to every man, severely as he will, and so, again, we see that when he says that the times will come when they're going to cease, and we're going to take a look at that fact here next, as we go over to 1 Corinthians 13, and we read, starting with verse 8, Charity never faileth, but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail. Okay, now, that word there, fail, when it says that, the word in the Greek there is the very same word that's used in the same verse as for vanish, okay? That word is katargio, katargio in the Greek, and it means the same, so it says charity never faileth, but whether there be prophecies, now we're speaking here as foretelling, whether there be foretelling, okay, and it says they're going to cease, and it says that they shall fail, in other words, they're going to go, they're going to be no longer needed, whether there be tongues, they shall cease, okay?
And again, that word means, fail means coming to an end, in the word Greek, coming to an end, it means no longer be there, so the time will come, now we're speaking corporately, we're not saying that in no situation will people be speaking in tongues, because you can't try to limit what God can do, and so, when we're talking about, they were a sign gift, the Jews required a sign, and it was a gift for unbelievers, not for believers, but then he tells you when that will happen, when that will happen, and that's, you know, here off in the future, as Paul is speaking here, he says, but when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away with. Well, at that time, they didn't have the last book of all the New Testament books, okay, that didn't happen to about 97 AD, so it was still in the future when Paul was talking here, and the, that which is perfect is the perfect word of God, the perfect word of God, the completed canon of scripture, and so here, he says, but when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away with, and in fact, that word perfect there is the same word that we use for complete, and that which is complete, then he says, when I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child, but when I became a man, I put away childish things, and I was teaching this today, and we talked about it in the Bible study class early in the morning, but when I was preaching this message, I said, well, I got a story there, but it's kind of a long story, and it has to do that when I was a child, I spake as a child, and the people, the congregation, come on, tell us pastor, tell us, share that with us, but it was kind of a funny story, and that was, when I was a kid, when I was about eight years old, and my brother was five, actually we had wandered off away from my older brother, whose job was to watch us, and we had wandered away from him, we thought he got lost, and I ended up knowing that there was a shortcut, which would really cut the distance down by miles from where we were at to home, so we took that shortcut, it was a scary thing when you're young like that, especially at night time when it's dark, and we made it home, there wasn't anybody home. Everyone was out looking for you. Yeah, so we turned on television, and back in that day there was a very young Ronald Reagan, this young dynamic actor, and he hosted a program called Masterpiece Theater, the 20 Mule team, and Boraxo, and so here, in this Masterpiece Theater, you had, it starts out, you got this pretty young teenage girl, she's running down this path through the woods, and here you've got this, she's running for her life, and then it switches to this man, but it only shows him up to his neck, it doesn't show his face, but he's got this big switch, and he's following her, and he's beating the bushes with this switch, and so it goes from that scene, the next scene is the young girl's home, and she's in bed, and her mother's in the room with a doctor, and when the doctor comes in, the mother says to her, she was raped, doctor, so now think about this, you're eight years old, and you see this guy taking the switch, beating the bushes, and then the next thing you hear, so in your mind, you know, in our mind, he caught her, and he beat her with a switch, he beat her with a switch, and they called that rape.
Yeah, how would you know any better? Well, I didn't, okay, but what happened was, did you ever hear, run sheep run, did you ever play that game when you were a little run sheep run? Um, no, no, I don't think I've ever played it. Okay, what you do, you stand up against a tree, you gotta stand up against a tree with your, cover your eyes, put your hand out, hold your hand down, and somebody puts a switch in your hand, and then, once that switch is in your hand, you gotta count to ten, as fast as you want, okay? And then, then you chase the person, and when you catch them, you hit them with a switch, then they gotta go up against a tree, see? So that's what we were playing, it was several of us, well, my brother had put the switch in my hand, and I was chasing him, and closing on him fast, because I was bigger, and, but unfortunately, I had that switch, I was yelling, I'm gonna rape you, I'm gonna rape you, and what happened, all of a sudden, out of no place, there's a hand over my mouth, and I'm being drugged by my collar, I'm being drugged into the house, okay? And once we got behind the doors, my mother's eyes were as big as saucers, she's looking at me like she just saw a ghost or something, and she said, where did you hear that word? And I said, on television. And she said, don't you ever, ever say that again. And I said, why, what does it mean? And she said, never mind what it means, just don't ever say that again. Well, how do you learn? How did you end up fighting out? So, I was still, I was still, as far as I was concerned, that meant don't ever tell anybody that you're beating somebody with a switch, okay?
Right? I mean, you're eight years old, my brother's five, neither one of us could understand, he believed the way I did. And so, that's what he's talking about here in this verse here.
When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child, but when I became a man, I put away childish things. Well, he's actually referring to the sign gifts people needed, okay, to believe. He says, but now we see through a glass darkly, but then face to face, now I know in part, but then shall I know even as also I'm known, and now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three, but the greatest of these is charity. So, he's making a point there that when that which is perfect, the complete canon of scripture comes, we'll know, we'll have the whole story then, okay? This is where, when it comes to the prophecies here, that he's referring again to foretelling, we'll stop. In fact, it tells you where, right here, 1 Corinthians 13, 8, also Revelation 22, 18, where it tells you that it's done, there are no new prophecies. If you have a new foretelling, whoever adds to the completed canon, here the plagues in there will be added to them. And if you take away from them, boy, have these New Age perversions of the Bible taken away from, you know, the NIV has 64,000 less words than the King James Bible, okay?
They'd have really taken away. And so, here, I want to go now to 1 Corinthians, over in 1 Corinthians 14. And so, I want to pick it up in verse 7. And even these things, without life, giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped? For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?
So likewise, except you utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, shall it be known what is spoken? Now, here, I want to jump over for a minute on here and go over to the book of Acts, because we're going to take a look at these tongues here. And in the book of Acts, chapter 2, and I'll be there in a minute, okay.
The book of Acts, chapter 2, started with verse 1. And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. You don't think that means they showed up in a Honda, right? No.
No, I don't think they had them back then. No, okay. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the house where they were sitting. Now, do you know what the day of Pentecost, do you know what the word Pentecost means?
No. The word Pentecost means 50 days, 50 days. And so Pentecost was a festival observed 50 days after the Feast of the First Fruits, which was held on a Sabbath day. Now, here, the resurrection was held on the first day of the week. Through Pentecost was held on the first day of the week. It was on such a day that, well, the day that the Holy Spirit came to dwell in the church. After this, the saints started to observe the Sabbath on the first day. In other words, the Sabbath is a day of rest, okay? So after that, the Christians, the saints started observing the Sabbath on the first day of the week. Because just as the weekly observance of the seventh-day Sabbath was the commemoration of the completion of creation, now God's great work of redemption, Kenny, was completed on the first day of the week. So, in other words, if I jump over here for a minute just to Acts chapter 20, I believe. Acts chapter 20, yeah, verse 7. And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow, and continued his speech until midnight. You know, this is where Paula White, when she said, when she was talking about the Apostle Paul, she said he couldn't have been much of a preacher. She said, honey, if you can't get it done in 20 or 30 minutes, you ain't much of a preacher.
I don't think she understood what he was doing here, huh? But anyhow. And so, this is an amazing thing that's happening out there.
People are clueless, they really are. And then, in fact, if you go over to 1 Corinthians chapter 16, I believe it is, and verse 1 and 2. Now, concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given orders to the churches of Galatia, even so do you, upon the first day of the week, let every one of you lay by himself in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gathering when I come.
So, in other words, he's talking about attending church service. And so here now, when we go back to Acts 2, we read this. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues, like as fire, and set upon each of them. First of all, you know, tongues here, spoken of just two things, tongues, in all of the scripture here.
One is the organ in your mouth that you form words with, and the other is a known dialect, a known dialect. It's not some unknown thing, okay? Some weird, gobbledygook. So here, it says, there appeared unto them cloven tongues, like of a fire. Now, the mighty wind filling the house, and the fire, like tongues, reaching the company. Now, that's an interesting thing, because, let me just jump, when it talks about that mighty wind, if you go over, for example, to Luke chapter 3. In Luke chapter 3, in verse 16, John answered, saying to them, Oh, I indeed baptize you with water, but one mightier than I cometh, that latcheth of his shoes, of whose shoes I am not worthy, ton loose, he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire.
And this is what John was referring to here, see? And so, and he said here, tongues like as of fire. He's not saying that the tongues were made of fire, okay? But they appeared, they appeared to be like fiery tongues.
Now, apparently, they came in the shape of a tongue, and I would have loved to see that. But anyhow, and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak in other tongues. Now, you notice what he said here?
Listen. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other, with other tongues. He's not saying strange tongues, or new tongues, or unknown tongues, he's not saying unknown, he's saying other tongues, huh? Yeah, so there was other known languages.
Right. As the Spirit give them utterance. And as they were dwelling in Jerusalem, Jews, development of every nation under heaven. Now, when this was noise abroad, the multitude came together and were confounded. Because that every man heard them speak in his own language. They were all amazed, and they marveled, saying, one to another, behold, are not all of these which speak Galatians. Now, how did they know that they were Galatians?
One of the things in those days you could tell where somebody was from was by the way they dressed. And there were certain, you know, areas. Now, he's really speaking here about 15 known dialects from 15 different regions.
How do we know that? Well, he names every one of them, right? And he says here, and how here we, every man in our own tongue wherein we were born.
Parthians and the Medes and the Elamites and the dwellers in Mesopotamia and Judea and Cappadocia and in Asia, Phrygia, Pamphila, Pamphilii, in Egypt and in parts of Libya, about Cyrene and the strangers of Rome, Jews and Prostylites, Cretes and Arabians. We do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful words of God, okay? And they were all amazed, and they were in no doubt saying one to another, what meaneth this? Others mockingly said, these men are full of wine. Well, they weren't full of wine, they were full of the Holy Ghost, weren't they?
Yeah. And so here, again, I remember only those were, the Galatians were the only ones that were speaking. The others were just there listening to this, okay? And so here, and then Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice and said unto them, You men of Judea, that all you that dwell in Jerusalem, by this known unto you, and hearken to my words, for these are not drunken as you suppose, seeing as the third hour of the day, but this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel. And when it shall come to pass, the day, saith God, I will pour out of my spirit upon the flesh.
Well, actually, this was partially done here. It was spoken by the prophet Joel, okay? The last day of prophecy, Joel was fulfilled at Pentecost only in an initial sense, complete fulfillment, must await the time, Kenny, of the end, you know? But anyhow, it was partially fulfilled, and that's what Peter was talking about right there. And it shall come to pass, in the last days, that God will pour out of my spirit upon all the flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesize, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams. Well, we must be there. I've been having some dreams recently.
Boy, have I been having some dreams recently. And so, anyhow, now I want to go over to Chapter 14, back to where I left off there. And in 1 Corinthians, Chapter 14, well, no, first I want to go over to 1 Corinthians, Chapter 14, yeah, verse, verse, no, I want to pick it up where I left off in verse 12. For so you, forasmuch as you were zealous of spiritual gift, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church. Wherefore, let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret. For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is it, then, I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also. I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. He goes on to say, Else, when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen?
As I giveth thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest, for thou verily giveth thanks, but the other is not edified. I thank my God that I speak with tongues more than you all, yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue. But here, first of all, he tells you that when you're speaking in tongues, let no more than three men at one time, in other words, not at the same time, but say in that church service, no more than three men will speak.
And then there must be one to interpret. If there's no one there to interpret, then he says, remain silent. He goes on also to talk about that people that don't understand what you're doing will think you've lost your mind. And so, but what happens there, what he's saying is that someone lets just say, you're speaking in tongues, you're edifying yourself. And what that means is, you become, you got up, and you were speaking in these tongues, and you don't know what you're saying. You don't know what you said. But you were pleased that you had this gift, and that you spoke in tongues, but nobody in the church understood what was going on.
So what's the point? So the only one you edified was yourself. But Paul says, now that's the difference, but when prophesy, if you're prophesizing, that's different. Because then everyone in the church, when they hear a word of knowledge, a word from God, then everyone gets edified.
Everyone's blessed by that. But now he's telling them, here, look, you'd be better off, he said, I'd rather speak five words that people can understand than 10,000 that people don't understand. Okay? So here, he says, wherefore tongues are for a sign not to them that believe, but to them that believe not. But prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe. If therefore the whole church become together into one place and all speak with tongues, and there come on those that are unlearned or unbelievers, will that not say that you are mad? Okay? I've been to some of these charismatic churches, and I tell you, I've seen some strange things, okay?
I mean, some really strange things. But here, so then he goes on, now there's only one group of people that are strictly forbidden to speak in tongues then and now, okay? And so, and if you go to one of these charismatic churches, if there's ten people speaking in tongues, just about every time at least eight or nine of them are going to be women. How is it then, brethren, whom you come together, every one of you hath a psalm or hath a doctrine or hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation, let all things be done unto edifying. If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two or the most by three, and that by course, and let one interpret. In other words, again, during a service, individually, you don't speak in tongues, everybody speaks at the same time.
That's not the way it's done. And so, here, but if there be no interpreter, let him keep silent in the church and let him speak to himself and to God. Let the prophet speak two or three and let the other judge. If any man, if anything be revealed to another that seteth by, let the first hold his peace. For you may all prophesize one by one and all may learn and all may be comforted. Now, this does not apply to today corporately.
Tongues are not corporately today. We just went over that with the completion of the 66 books of the canon, God's word. Then those tongues of foretelling and of words of knowledge and of speaking in tongues ceased.
They ceased. I just read that to you, okay? He told you exactly when it was going to happen. For you may all prophesize one by one, they all may learn and all may be comforted. And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. For God is not, for God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. And so, he says, now remember, what is the topic?
What is he talking about here? He's talking about speaking in tongues, right? Let your women keep silence in the churches, for it is not permitted unto them to speak, but they are commanded to be under obedience or also save the law. Now, it doesn't mean, he's not saying that women cannot talk at all in the church. Women can pray in the church, women can prophesize in the church, okay? Then, well, and today, only by using the word of God, only foretelling. Not foretelling, only foretelling, okay? That goes for men too, okay?
But they cannot speak in tongues. So now, does this mean that the apostle Paul was biased? Oh, absolutely.
No, no, obviously not, no. But this is what I've heard some women say, that the apostle Paul was a male chauvinist, no? The apostle Paul was taking orders directly from God, wasn't he? Yes. And so, here, so is God biased? Apparently. Okay. Does God give us a natural order of things?
Of course. Do we see within the Godhead itself, the Trinity and natural order? The Father gives the marching orders, the Son carries them out, and the Holy Ghost provides the power from Genesis to Revelation. In the family, the first divine institution that God gives us is marriage in a family. Marriage is between a man, which is a male, and a female only. God gave us the definition, one man, one woman, okay? And here, the man is the head of the household, the wife is to be submissive to her husband, and the children are to be submissive to their parents. That's the way God ordained it. Yes, that's the natural order of things.
That's called the natural order. It's fun to say, let your women keep silence in the churches, for it is not permitted unto them to speak that they are kin. I can't imagine being a pastor of a church, telling all the women when they get there, keep your mouth shut and don't say a word and don't try to believe.
I think they'd hurt me. So, anyhow, he says, let your women keep silence in the churches, for it is not permitted unto them to speak, but they are commanded to be under obedience, as they also say at the law. And if they will learn anything, let them ask their husbands at home, for it is a shame for a woman to speak in the church.
He's talking about two things. A woman to speak in tongues, or to take authority over the man in the church. And so, what came the word of God out from you and came it unto you only? So here now, we want to take a look at this speaking in tongues today. First of all, let's take a look at those that didn't speak in tongues. There was a fellow named, he was the prince of the Baptist, Spurgeon. Spurgeon didn't speak in tongues. There was a fellow named Finney, a very well-known man of God. He didn't speak in tongues.
There was Jonathan Edwards, another very well-known man of God. Now, remember, there are those that say that if you're not speaking in tongues, you're not saved. That speaking in tongues is evidence of the Holy Spirit. Well, the Bible says that on the moment you get saved, by the way, there are seven baptisms in the Bible that the Bible speaks of.
Maybe one of these days I'm going to go into that. That's a big message there. But here, Scripture says upon receiving the Holy Spirit, you're baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Okay, when you get saved, baptism because you're saved and not to be saved. But you already have the dwelling of the Holy Spirit.
And the moment you get saved, the Holy Ghost comes to dwell within you. And so now here, we look at people like Billy Sunday. Billy Sunday, he didn't speak in tongues.
D.L. Moody didn't speak in tongues. Peter Ruckman never spoke in tongues. J. Vernon McGee never spoke in tongues.
John R. Rice, Dr. Greg Dixon, Jerry Falwell, Pastor Ralph Lins, Pastor Hal Larson from our church, Pastor Joe Larson, and John McTernan and myself. We don't speak in tongues, but I got a feeling that we're saved, don't you? Yeah.
Okay. But let's take a look at some of those today that are speaking in tongues, right? For example, Joyce Myers. Paula White, we talked about Paula White. Yeah. Here, you know, she virtually says she's God.
Yeah, it's crazy. All of these Word of Faith people. Again, I couldn't believe what she was saying when she was saying, well, wherever she stands, God stands. And she said, when I go on that White House property, she was broken.
Bragging about being President Trump's spiritual advisor, the only one, her authority. And she says, when she walks in that White House ground, God walks in that White House ground. Where she stands, God stands. Where she stands, take off your shoes, it's holy ground. Well, I guess in some aspects she's actually correct because God is everywhere, but it's not something special to her. That's where the line gets crossed, I think.
Well, no, they actually say that they are God's. Yeah, that's what I'm saying, though, that yes, God is everywhere, but it doesn't make her special, which is where she crosses that line, thinking she's special because of this. Yeah, well, again, I'll remember when she was prancing across the stage wearing a miniskirt. And the next time she comes out and she's wearing a pantsuit and she makes a statement about, well, I know all of you want me to go put my miniskirt on again, okay, what kind of a preacher does it? By the way, she doesn't know this, women are not to be ordained ministers, they're not to pastor churches. Somewhere she forgot that, and I'm really surprised. Seems like she forgot a lot of things. Yeah. Selective.
But when she was prancing across that stage in that miniskirt saying, I've got lips and I've got hips and I know how to use these lips and I know how to use these hips, that had connotations that weren't very good. And so here, then you have Rick Warren. Oh, Rick Warren speaks in tongues. Kenneth Copeland, I really believe that Kenneth Copeland is demon-possessed. He might be.
I really believe he is, okay. But he speaks in tongues. Did you ever see him when he goes and he gets into a battle of tongues? They face off with another one of these apostate preachers and they get up real close to each other about six inches away from their faces and they start going with the worst kind of gibberish you've ever heard. And they do that until one gets too tired to do any more and then he drops out and then the other wins. What? Yeah, that's what they call dueling tongues. They call it dueling tongues. And all it is is show business.
No business like show business, is there? Unbelievable. And then here, of course, one of our favorites is Jesse Duplantis. Jesse Duplantis says that, and I couldn't believe I heard him.
He said that Jesus stops by his church every now and then to ask for advice. Yeah. I heard him say it. How stupid. How ridiculous. Just nonsense.
Yeah. And he said one day he said Jesus stopped by and he said Jesus was just looking, just so forlorn, so like a broken hearted and he was very depressed. And Jesse said to him, what's wrong? And he, well, he had a lot of concerns. He was so depressed about the people here.
And so he said that I just went over and I loved on him a little bit, just hugged him out and then he must have felt much better. I don't believe in Jesse Duplantis, right? You don't? No. T.G. Jakes said, I want my stuff now.
I don't want to wait. Maybe T.G. Jakes figures, you know, the Bible says, place up your treasures in heaven, that he may not be getting there, huh? Yeah. Benny Hinn, he's another one that speaks in tongues, but he goes back and forth. One day he's, he's repenting, I've heard him repent of the prosperity movement and he said the prosperity movement is off base. Did you say four?
Yes. But the next day he's back at it. Well, he got a lot of problems when he was with, he got caught there with Paula White in that motel when both of those two were still, at the time, they were still married. And then you had Creflo Dollar and Earl Pollock and Rob Tilton, Robert Tilton, all of them, they still think that they're little gods, okay? And Robert Tilton, he got caught up in that big scam where they were supposed to be providing coats and things for the poor people and that they weren't doing it. And they were supposed to be praying over those prayer requests and they weren't doing it, they were just tossing them, taking the checks and tossing them. And then, of course, your, your and my favorite is the Reverend Ike.
He was the favorite. Remember what he said, he said the Apostle Paul, Apostle Paul, good man. But he got it wrong, you see. The Apostle Paul said that the love of money is the root of all evil. He meant to say was the lack of money is the root of all evil. And that's the one that said, remember, I can live sumptuously, remember? Yes.
He has such a big heart. I can live in a life of luxury. Not for me, I'm not doing it for me. I'm living that life of luxury for you because you can't do it.
I'm living sumptuously for you because you can't do it. And they would actually say, do it for me, Raph, do it for me. I'm thinking, this is, this is, wearing the Beatitudes doesn't say blessed or the stupid, right? You know. And then he's the one that came up with the idea. Take out your wallet, take the money out of your wallet, throw it up in the air. Everything that stays up in the air belongs to God.
Everything that comes down belongs to me. And you know what? People fell for it. They did it. Yeah. They did it.
Okay. And so, here, this is the times we're living in, and they're playing off the biblical illiteracy. These are, you know, they're fleecing the flock. They're fleecing the flock in a major way.
And our job is to try to tell people, try to open their eyes to what's happening today. And especially, the Bible means exactly what it says. Some of these sign gifts, tongues, are not done today corporately. They're not.
Okay. We have, we no longer have foretelling. Revelation, chapter 22, verse 18, what does it say?
It says, anyone that adds to or takes from, that's exactly what it means. And that's what happens when you have additional words of knowledge, additional prophecies. Well, we're out of time for tonight. So, as we get here, did you learn anything tonight? Most of this I've kind of already knew.
But a lot of it's common sense, though. You're a smart guy. Sometimes.
Yeah. Till tomorrow, we want to say good night. Good night. We want to say God bless.
God bless. And always, always, always keep fighting the fight. Fight. Fight. Fight. Fight. Fight. Fight.
