Good evening, and welcome to another edition of What's Right, What's Left: The Voice of the Christian Resistance on this 21st day of September.
Twenty twenty five. And um Tonight my co-host and producer you know The fellows there And I and I try to be fair. They kinda They fight over who gets to do my programme. Then you know, sometimes Style and Kenny and the others, you know, what about me? you know, and And um Style hasn't been able to do a Sunday night before, so Finally I said, you know, we gotta let him do a Sunday night.
And he's here with us tonight. Hey, Style. Hey, Pastor. Yeah, me and Kenny had a good wrestling match a little earlier, so hopefully there's no hard feelings about it. Yeah.
And I wonder if he's listening right now. Anyhow. Uh sometimes I can I can make sure he's listening because I tell him If you're not there, I'm going to say something very weird and then about you. I know. Yeah.
That's boy, I'm gonna tell you, I said that down, he cannot stay away. But anyhow.
Okay. We have oh you know what? Boy, uh we gotta start tonight. Mm-hmm. Steve Tunder.
fellow, folks, you've known him for years and years as C. S. Thunder. Who calls in? Um he's embedded here, he's embedded there, listening and uh picking up stuff and listening to the chatter.
Steve, the last time I saw him was two weeks ago. He was in church. He came to church. He drove he drives, I believe it's over an hour. And they get to church and um Uh he was there and he He started not looking too good.
And um Uh he finally said, I I I'm very sick. And I said, Well, listen, you know. Are you okay? Can we and he just was up and he was gone. He was out of there.
And I just talked to him today and he's got some major heart problems. And so We're going to pray for him, and I'm going to ask all of you folks out there listening to all over the country. to join in with me. Remember remembered this you know God keeps the prayers And God keeps the record of who's praying and who's not praying. unbelievers and you say, Well, I can God do all that well because He's God.
there's nothing he says Uh he has unlimited, unlimited ability. There's no limits to his ability at all. I know that's hard to perceive. saying is how we have such limited abilities, but we're not God.
So If you would join with me as we hold uh Brother Steve up, Heavenly Father, Lord God, I want to hold Brother Steve up and Lord, I know he's uh I know his heart's with us, you know, to be there and Um in church he w he wants to be, but I know And and I'm very concerned about him because he's talking about you know sorry already got his gravesite and everything. Lord, I just want to hold him up to you. Father God, we know that all you have to do is say the word. And I'm going to ask here tonight and have all the folks join what is the Lord guide that. You would bless him in every area where he could be blessed.
That you might touch him. and give him a complete and total healing. He loves the Lord with all of his heart and He's done a lot of good out there for the Lord's sake. Again, Lord, we just would ask that you would intercede on his behalf tonight. Touch him That he might receive a complete and total healing and be back to church with us.
In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. All right. Uh style the title of my message was When God's Seasoned saints pray and act Hell trembles. And this was a I was listening To Billy Graham.
Now, I had never heard Billy Graham preach like this before. Uh I've never heard Billy Graham. To to be so militant with righteous indignation. And I mean I had a righteous anger And he was preaching to the elderly, to seasoned citizens. like himself.
And like mice. And Uh boy I'm gonna tell you, he It really made some good points as we're going to go through this. Again Uh You know, it was it seemed like it was just totally out of out out of his character. I've listened to him on on a number of sermons, and he's always been so mild and so steady and so even. But not this time.
This time he was raising his voice and he was really putting a lot uh a lot of emotion uh into that message. And and I thought there were there were times when I actually thought Because I've known To say the hard things, I'm no nut to pull any punches. And There were times when I thought, you know, I wouldn't be even a uh Going to that. to that extent. I don't want to say extreme because I don't think it was, but And so We're going to start tonight.
In Ecclesiastes chapter twelve. We're gonna just start off with the first first, then we're gonna bounce around and come back. uh to the rest of Ecclesiastes twelve. But remember now the Creator in the days of thy youth, While the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, When thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them. And so here you know, to become a saint An heir of the kingdom Uh as a child is really a true blessing.
It's really a true blessing. Uh to be able to Place up Crowns in heaven With a a youthful Body. is a real advantage giving us Like Timothy Tim like Timothy the opportunity to become An elder Uh in the faith while still young, I want to jump just for a minute over to Proverbs Chapter 22, verse 6. We read Crane up a child and the way that he should go, And when he is old, he will not depart from it. And so What we have here.
Folks, uh this is spoken in generality sense. Uh it's uh Majorative. Not an absolute.
So let me ask your style. What advantages do you see? But by becoming a Christian as a youth, I mean, like the verse just said, you're taught from an early age the ways that you should be. Growing and progressing in faith.
Well, that's you know, that is a generality because I happen to know A number of Pastors Good men good men of God. And who did that, they raised their children up in the admonition of the Lord. And Um They didn't they went some of them went bad. They went rogue on their parents.
Now I do have to say it's been a l long time Um Since I've seen some of these, these are adults. you know, longtime adults now, whether they return to the faith or not. But I knew some real godly men, good men, one One was a s a senior pastor, founded several churches. And he was one of my mentors and Uh He went to speak, him and his wife. went with another pastor and his wife.
I believe it was to Arizona, I think, is too. He was speaking to one of the churches, preaching at one of the events. And He had a couple teenage sons and two teenage daughters. And while he was gone, Uh they decided to throw a party.
Well, they were in their teens, you know, high school. And they threw this party at the house Well, then some college kids heard about the party. and a whole bunch of them come over there. And they ended up uh with a real drunken blowout and the police were called And Here, the front page of the newspaper had the picture of his house. And Mm peller.
you know, drunken blowout at a pastor's house. That hurt him so bad. Um, you know. There was even at one time when his sons We're Not that much y younger than me. And, you know, I know it broke his heart to the point I actually asked him.
Do you want me to give him a whip? And I'll be glad to give both of them a good h you know, whipping, you know. And he said no, he said I'm I'm gonna forgive him Um, that's what fathers do. But anyhow.
I I I saw how it hurt him. And I ca and it's kinda like You know what Billy Graham, one of the points that Billy Graham was making, Billy Graham was saying. Don't listen. Don't listen to them. And And sometimes these are people that that make excuses uh for their behavior When they know they have no ground to stand on.
Um Another point that that he he was making very clearly was Don't allow yourself to be disrespected. Uh Your life experiences It is priceless.
So here When you're young, going back to that verse. Remember now the Creator of the days of thy youth. While the evil day is come know not, nor the years drew nigh, and while they shall say, I have no pleasure in them. I know for over fifty years I was on the streets in front of the abortion mills preaching. and saving babies out there.
Uh Well I don't do it nowadays. But but those in those days, fifty-two weeks a year, year in and year out, I I was out in the rain, in the snow. In the hot and the cold air, on the streetside for hours preaching. And I don't know, I I can't do that today. Just, uh, I'm not you know not physically Well, I guess I could if I really pushed myself hard, but I you know, I've put in all of those years, put in half a century.
Uh But it was so much easier when I had that youthful body and A number of those people that were with me when we all had youthful bodies. Back in those days Most of them have gone home to be with the Lord and got their they finished their course, but Some of them are still with me. Uh Can you think of any other areas where It's a 'Tis in service to the Lord. Where that youthful body helps a lot. I mean, I think just in basic administering itself, right?
Like you said, you know, it's not. as easy to get more places the older you get. And I think Just generally word of mouth and meeting more people might not be as easy because of those factors.
Alrighty.
Now we have um One of our men Uh who was with us last night? Uh Or not last night than Friday night there, uh, helping uh during the pledge week. He's going to be going to California And uh working with Samaritan purse. He's gonna be building houses uh for as part of a ministry for the ill for the homeless that got burnt out. A lot of the people have been um without homes, homeless and that and so Uh that's something that a youthful body really helps Just in that ministry, huh?
Oh, absolutely. And so, especially when it comes to being a missionary, Uh a lot of times it's a my brother Of course he's old now. But he spent many years uh working Um Building of an orphanage. in Mexico for the orphans then. Taking care of orphans.
So I want a jump, uh very quickly. over to uh Romans chapter 12. And in Romans chapter twelve. We read this. I beseech you, therefore, brethren, By the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice.
Holy acceptable unto God which is your reasonable your reasonable service. Be not conformed to the World. But be you transformed By the renewing of your mind, that you may Prove. What is that good, and that acceptable, and that perfect will of God? For I say though the grace given into me.
Every man that is among you, not to think of himself more heartily than He ought to think, but to think soberly according as God hath. dealt to every man the measure of faith.
Well, here, you know Uh What it says here I beseech you, brethren. What he is he's telling you here There. Here Uh God has imputed in us all a measure of faith. Um It's up to us to exercise that faith. in our Reasonable, reasonable service.
So Here when he's referring to. Oh. with with whatever abilities are good. It came from above. Like our salvation, they are gifts, free gifts.
So here. When he says I beseech you. He's making uh a comment Uh very good comment that When he says, present yourself, present yourself. That's sanctification. being set aside to to be used of God And it and it's special ministry to his glory.
Now there is Again As we took a look at a huge advantage Um to being able to do that in our youth, where he talks about that you present your bodies a living sacrifice holy acceptable unto God. which is your reasonable service. Uh sometimes, you know, I c I can see people When I'm preaching Ah, these messages. When it talks about Here, your gift, every man is given a measure of faith in your gift. And when it talks about Your works.
And and and you have to say to people there I preached that message. Often Um Making your salvation sure. I know that a That actually upsets some people. But I think it's the necessity. of doing that because Uh For people That are biblically literate, or those that, those of us that.
that are in God's Word every single day, And that God has blessed Um You know, with With spiritual knowledge in that. And you look at people you know.
sometimes people that are very close to you and There's You see no evidence, no evidence that there's any desire in them. to do the Lord's work. It's like Yeah I'll read the Bible when I'm in church, and then after that, I go back on the internet. Or I'm going to be watching television, you know, whatever Uh Where's your desire? Which ministry are you active in?
Are you active in the pro-life ministry? Are you active? And then some will do some things. They will do some work. Uh often in the ministry But you can tell That You know, when you preach on faith without works is dead being alone.
When you preach on this, uh It it's like that they're doing so much. But they're not doing it because their hearts in In serving God, they're doing it. as to prove to make an appearance That There's There's salvation with their profession. What do you think, Style?
Well, and on top of that, I think there's a reason, you know, that we have different gifts and we're given different gifts from the Lord. We talked about it earlier that. You know, especially with age, some works might become harder and harder for people to do, or maybe physical limitations or mental limitations might make Some works harder than others to do, but that's why there is a vast variety of them.
Alrighty.
And not be conformed to this world, but be you transformed. Be you transformed. By the renewing of your mind that you may be proved what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. How do you know the will of God? There's only one way of really knowing the will of God in there.
That's studying that's studying the Word of God, but Prior to going into study of the Word of God is to Uh is to pray ahead of time And asking God, you know, for Guidance and for discernment. And so here, because we're living Scripture says we're living in the evil day. We're living in the evil day. And I want to jump back over to where we were Over And Ecclesiastes chapter 12. No.
Here When uh Billy Graham was talking about how the saves had become seasoned. Saints, they have learned I'm not To have our lives governed. by the thought patterns and the Details of this evil world system And so Is that what Paul was talking about, not being conformed? To the world? Yeah, live not of the world.
Okay, so So what would you s Say that um some of those um thoughts and patterns and uh dictates of this evil world system And that that we would be warned about. I mean, okay, I mean, you know, DEA, right, is one, woke is another. What is s what are some of the things that we absolutely We're taught that it's legal. Therefore, it's all it should be all right. You have to accept it now.
It's the law, so you have to accept it. Do we ever accept it? Oh, there's there's hundreds of examples of that. I think one of the biggest ones that comes to mind is just pride in general. I mean, we've talked about this before, but just The essence of that whole movement being pride, which is of course a sin, and it being normalized in all these apostate churches now, along with society.
I think that's a shining example of this. Yeah, you mean the rainbows the flag and the the g the sodomite pride? Right. Uh so the language of illusion confusion and delusion, hum. uh where they they're they used And they twist terminology to make even the most vile acts palatable, don't they?
Right. And of course sodomy would be one of the most vile acts, right? But what would be the most, the most violent? What one sin more than any other sin in God's Word? Do we read that God brought the harshest, harshest punishment upon the people for committing.
Anyone that harms or kills children. That's exactly right. The ab so abortion would be one of the absolutely worst sins, no matter what we Uh what the younger generation tell us that we have to learn to accept except that it's it's it's the law Live with it. No, we're not going to live with it.
Okay, and by the way. Uh a lot of things illegal are not lawful. There's a big difference between being lawful and legal. And so it is not lawful.
Okay. Um in fact God's Word, the Bible, calls it a horrible, horrible sin. It's a tr transgression Of the dominion of God, it's a destruction of his holy image. And what does What does God say that these women that kill their babies deserve. They have a millstone hung around the neck.
Thrown to the ocean, correct? Yeah, well that's anyone who harms a child. Do you know how much a millstone would weigh? It was an exuberant amount. Four thousand pounds.
Awful hard to swim with that, huh? I would say. Yeah, four thousand pounds. That's a that's a lot. And so But here what God says When he gives us the divine institution of human government, he gives us also in that divine institution The statute of the death penalty.
And the death penalty When you transgress God's dominion, and you destroy his image, It's the death penalty. The death penalty.
So God says that these women that kill their babies by abortion Uh deserve to die first, and if they're unrepentant, They deserve to burn in hell.
Now that's what God says. And so But even far worse than that, the bloody abortionists The bloody abortionists Yeah, I I tell you what There's got to be real hot place in hell For an abortionist, And I would imagine that those horrible creatures are there by themselves. You know, in the prison, I was in a prison ministry. I still am. I just don't.
Now I do my ministry from by telephone to inmates. I take inmate calls and we help inmates out, especially those on death row. But for forty-five years I was visiting Um on a regular basis And Here. In the prison system you have a social ladder. And at the bottom on on At the same time.
On the basement floor Those are pedophiles. And then as you go up, you know, child abuse and so on. to where you get to white collar criminals, you know, the big Crime bosses. Um Assassins, hitmen are up there at the top. But there's one level below the basement.
And as for abortionists, where they bring an abortion instead. And I helped put a couple of them in prison. to their wit. Wicked, wicked men, evil, evil. Uh When they go.
They have to keep their identities hidden they have to and they're always put in solitaire. because even the pedophiles will kill the abortions. And that shows you how Now, what is the wai the Bible says the wages of sin is what? Yeah. Absolutely.
And so here, you know Uh Billy Graham made a good point when he said we must never, never Bend ourselves to the whims and again, like I said, This was one of his last messages And He was speaking to the elderly. He said we must never bend ourselves to the whims and the wishes of this world In order to feel Uh still useful And um So what do you think about that? I mean, I think it speaks for itself, right? You know, when I hear this, you know what I think about? I think about in the prison ministry.
Uh All those years, all those years, you know, we had a team Myself and seven other pastors. We would I was a senior pastor, and I had seven associate pastors. and we would go down to the prisons together. And Uh we would minister, all of us would you know, we would have a large group or they would bring the death row inmates out. And uh A couple would speak while the others would sit there and take questions.
and and tutor the inmates. And You know, after all these years, here you have these seasoned pastors. Men of God who Bible scholars And what does the prison system do? They come in with their new program. The program They're A DEI program And they're Uh, you know, they're woke.
and their programmes was written by feminists. And so we had to to w watch a film and sign a paper. You see they were very concerned that we might uh say something that would offend The the inmates, like say something against Saravi. By the way, they didn't know what that word meant. They called it the gay movement, this and that.
Uh But And the pastors were just looking at each other and laughing. This can't be true. You're going to tell us guys after all these years of ministering in prison. that you want us to become um what I'm trying to think of the the the terminology for it but Anyhow. It's just unbelievable.
And so I remember the inmates were all laughing about this new program because how stupid it is.
So we went in there. There was must have been twenty five thirty. I death throw inmates out there. And I said, I want all of you For men to understand this and I'm very serious.
Okay. None of us guys here. have any desires, okay? Uh huh. We don't.
But we don't have any desires uh to hit on any of you guys. And everybody burst out laughing. And I said personally, I think most of you guys are ugly. And uh they cheered for that. Look.
I mean, that that's how It goes, and so this is a good example. Let me read that again. We must never bend ourselves to the s whims and the wishes of this world in order to feel still useful. And that's what they were saying, Well, we do things differently and now you guys are of a A past generation, we've improved on the way we do things. No, you didn't improve it, you distorted.
and you corrupted. God calls It's reasonable service to use a holy boldness and to rise up in our souls and exercising Wise. deserve it. God did not keep us alive this long so that Uh The world could Yeah. On a shelf To be seen and not heard.
That was a thought that. came to me when I was thinking about that. Situation in the prison.
So Now it's not uncommon For adult children who witness Uh s sometimes, you know, the physical decline of their parents. uh to disregard the intellectual maturity and beneficial wisdom and knowledge. that they gained through years of life experiences Uh You know what? Uh Here You're a you're a bright young man, I would say like Timothy. you're above your years when it comes to Uh I think just, you know, your gener knowledge in general of of the political atmosphere and current events.
But There are certain things. that it just takes years to acquire. And uh again a lot Do you ever notice sometimes you have some of some of the Old white headed m men are Women said in And they're listening to Some of the What do they call themselves? Gen Zers today? Yeah.
And they're listening to w uh with their intellectual palaver. And the little smirks and the glances that go on between The seizing citizens as the We've been there We've done that, and these kids couldn't be farther off, could they? And so just the communication, sometimes it's just a glance, it's just a a little bit of a smirk and Uh you see that and and sometimes What happens Is some of the younger people They got a mindset that Uh since you know, that you know there's a physical decline. In the seniors, there's also and let intellectual decline Well, it's exactly just the opposite, huh? Yeah, I think that's the case a good majority of the time, but I think you also have to look at things, you know.
Everything has to be a case-by-case basis, right? On the very principle: yes, you should respect your elders and you should. Be open to hearing advice from someone who's had more life advice to you and be receptive of that. At the same time, I think that's an issue the left runs into a lot too of You look at guys like Joe Biden or Tim Walls, I'm not gonna, you know, listen to their advice when I know ninety nine point nine of everything they're saying is just completely flat out wrong.
Well, yeah, well, but you see, when we were talking about generalities, um You know, when you Here When you you have like you say, in some of the people Uh, yeah. In some of the elderly's a cognitive decline. But guess what? You have in young people too, there are A lot of young people that have cognitive declines, also. Oh, yeah.
Uh and uh But we don't call it senility. Uh And here's some I think I'm gonna go back. To um where we were over And Genesis Chapter 12 and pick it up in verse or not Genesis of Ecclesiastes twelve, and pick it up in verse two. And we're gonna go through this because This is Solomon.
Now Solomon was at the end of getting towards the end of his days, And Solomon was not just a king. You know he was a preacher, too. And so here He says while the sun or the light or the moon or the stars be not darkened. nor the clouds return after the rain. He's saying, What a blessing it is if you Uh receive if salvation, if he gets saved, and you work for the days of the Lord while you're young.
The four uh all of life's the aging process takes its toll on you. He says in the day When the keepers Of the house shall tremble. What do you think?
Now he's comparing an old house. It's elderly people here. to elderly m to an elderly man here.
So what do you think the keepers of the house are? Will the keepers of the house be the owners of the house? I'm not I'm not quite sure.
Okay, let me see now.
Now remember he's he's preparing a house to an elderly person, so now. Uh here You have a house, right? I do. And you fix and repair things around that house, don't you? I do.
And what do you use to fix the repair things with? Uh tools I suppose. No, your your hands and your arms. Your hands and your arms, okay. I Y y y you weren't born with any tools on you, were you?
Not that I know.
So he's talking about here the keepers are your hands and your arms. Gotcha. It And he says, And when the keepers of the house shall tremble, And the strong man shall bow themselves.
Now, It's interesting because he uses the word men here. Men have a tendency far more than women If you ever notice to get arthritis in their legs. Men have this I I know of of several Glot much, much younger than me. That have already got arthritis so bad in their legs that they're like bowlegged when they walk. It's You you know, you've you've seen these guys that, you know, the cowboys that were bowlegged like they've been riding a horse their whole life.
And uh but but it's arthritis they receive. And so That's um That's what the strongmen are, the strongmen. Where says Chabot? themselves. And then he goes on.
Now, this should be easy for you to figure out. This is what. and the grinders cease. because they are few. What do you think the grinders are?
Uh we're talking about teeth here. Yeah, we're talking about teeth, okay. And Um You know, here, of course. Uh when the elderly when you get Back in the old days Uh people my age A lot of 'em would would da. have lost most of their teeth.
And But even even years ago, they would actually had False teeth. I saw some of the old false teeth. You know that They actually have wooden teeth made up? Yeah, there the wooden teeth, there was ivory for the wealthy that was made up of. A lot of things that you shouldn't be putting in your mouth.
Yeah. And it goes and it says When the grinders are because they are few, And those that look out of the windows be darkened, So what do you suppose the windows are? It's got to be your eyes. It's it's your eyes.
Now I I can tell you, don't you All of these things, okay. Yeah. I am very familiar with.
Okay. I have cataracts right now. It was so. It looks like somebody has put the w the windows are really dirty, okay. And you know, just about a year, two years ago, I broke my shoulder.
you know, my Uh the keepers of the house I broke down. Just end Here We as we get to this next thing We're going to be talking about Well, you could tell me. And the doors shall be shut in the streets. When the sound of the griming is low, Uh, did I miss yeah? And And he shall rise up in the voice of the bird, and the daughters.
Oh the music shall be brought low Again when the doors shall be shut. What do you think the doors the doors are? I'm not sure. It's talking about your ears. Your ears.
There we go. I've had, as you know, I had that situation, I had to have those procedures. on my ears And now I play shoulders. And on my eyes. Uh Man, I dunno.
They got me listed here. I'm I'm all through this. And then he goes on to say And when they shall be afraid of that which is high, Okay, now listen when they shall be afraid of that witch's hut, Uh you're not a senior, but One of the the very first thing That they ask the seniors when you go in for just about anything today, any kind of a medical Procedure Even a checkup. The first thing they ask you is, Have you fallen lately? Have you fallen lately?
And um Yeah, a lot of times it's yeah, but uh Anyhow, this is what he's talking about now. Uh My wife will not allow me on a ladder. And she will not allow me on letter. I used I mean, I I used to be up in letters all the time. And um And so now And and and you know, she used to Say, I'm more agile than you are, so I can get up on the letter.
She's meaning herself, but not me. And I said, Really?
Okay, well then I'm a I'm s I'm stronger, so I'll hold the letter for you. And if you fall, I'll catch you. And and so here he says And when they shall be afraid of that which is high, And fears shall be in the way. And the almond tree shall Flourish. What do you think that almond tree is Would that be Future generations?
No. Uh have you ever seen an an almond tree when it's in full bloom? I mean more likely than not. Its blossoms are very white. It looks like a like a maybe like a cottonwood.
Okay. And so Yeah. You you may know some elderly folks that have white hair. I may look in the mirror and know someone with a lot of white hair.
Alright, so. That's what he's talking about. It's talking about white hair. No. I have That white hair.
But That white hair. It's simply Uh Simply what adorns a great knowledgeable brain, right? I'll take that. There you go. All right.
Now here's this next one. This next one is really I I mean It's a doozy. And it takes a lot of imagination on here. But I've Finally understood it. Here.
Now remember, Solomon was getting at the end of his. I could say his kingship, but also his ministry, 'cause he had a a ministry And he goes on to say. And the grasshopper shall be a burden, and desire shall. Full. Because men goeth to his long home, and the mourners go about the streets And so he's something He's comparing to he's the grasshopper, the appearance of a grasshopper to to something.
And what do you think of? Of course, this could have more than one application because. You know, when grasshoppers came in the form of locusts, they they ate up everything.
Okay. But that's probably not the the application. But it could have an application. But he's saying something there's something that looks like a grasshopper and uh Uh You've seen just recently Say some seasoned Citizens Um coming in and out of the radio studio there with canes, with walking on canes. And if you look at him from behind where they have their canes and their elbows are kind of up in the air.
and they're crouched over Uh and then take a picture. of a grasshopper from behind That what he's doing is he's comparing An old man with a cane Crouched over. Oh. with with the appearance of a grasshopper, With the the same thing, with the the legs up, crossed over. Interesting.
Yeah. And now When we get to the studio again, I don't have a cane, but th th there's a I I I I almost I almost said the word to one of the Caesars citizens. Go up and sh and and walk up and down this aisle here and show what he's saying, but I didn't. They could have stormed me and and and hurt me.
Alrighty.
Now he goes on to say Because man goeth to his long home, Uh D'you know what the Long Home is, don't you? As the log home attorney? Yeah, that's eternity. And mourners go about the streets, Do you know what that means mortars go r about the streets? Is that referring to as in like a funeral or a procession or this morning over the loss in general.
Well, no, in those days in uh in Israel Uh that was you had professional mortars who who were paid. they would they were paid to mourn, okay, because sometimes There were people that didn't have Didn't have any family or relatives. And so Uh they would pay him Because it was kinda like a disgrace. If you didn't have a people, a number of people there to mourn over you, okay? And so they would come as soon as they would hear that someone's sick and it you know, and dying, the mortars would show up and try to be the first ones there to get the job, you know.
You know, and you'd hire as many mourners as you could, you know, kind of like to honor. The person that was dying. And so He goes on to say And over the silver cord Be loosed. On the golden bow. Be broken.
or the pitcher be broken, At the fountain or the wheel broken at the cistern.
Okay, so now Here he's talking about The silver cord The silver cord was holding something together. It was holding together a golden bowl. And a picture. What do you think the the bowl and the pitcher Uh held. I'm assuming food and water.
That's exactly right. So he's saying over the silver cord be loosened, and the the golden Bowl be broken and the pitcher be broken. At the fountain Or The Will at the Cistern So he's talking about when Uh They've lost their appetite, their ability to eat and drink now. And of the broken wheel, what does a wheel do? A wheel moves, right?
And that that wheel there is referring to actually the body, our bodies, our old bodies. And so He goes on. Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was And the Spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
So when we die our body goes back to the to the earth. But What about our spirit and our soul?
Well, ideally if you're a Christian and you're a believer, that'll ascend to heaven. What's the difference between the spirit and the soul? Scripture tells you in Hebrews that. The word of God is so sharp that it can actually a divide between the spirit and the soul.
Well, your s if I understand correctly, your spirit is that connection you have to Christ. the entity of you, whereas your soul is like the personality and characteristics that make you up. You you're right that The Spirit through the Holy Spirit is is your connections with But Lord, also it's your life energy. You're Soul is your personality, it's who you are. And so He says A vanity of vanities, saith the preacher, all is vanity.
Why do you think he would say that? Vanity of vanity, all is vanities. I'm not sure. All right. Uh Solomon What does s do you think Solomon had a fairly successful life?
I would say so.
Okay. Uh he he was the wealthiest man in the world at one time but and so Right. Uh so he was very wealthy. Uh he he messed up when he got all those wives. Right.
Uh But But uh but other than that Uh Here now, he's getting ready to To leave this world, what's he gonna do with all that gold and silver and precious stones? and all of those wives that he has to Can't take it with him, and so Here now, as he's gone, He was here for a while, but he's he's gonna be gone and when he's thinking about When men placing i importance in m in material things or even Uh And things like Say Those that build the biggest bridges or those that built the largest buildings and Here the That's that's who they are. That's where they they put Um all of their, if you will, life energy they're that has become Like an idol to them. Or And so Solomon is saying all of these things here. Um They're gonna go all of your greatest, greatest success We're gonna be forgotten.
It's it's gonna be forgotten soon. He he himself Is making acknowledgment. That's where he says. Um what keyword I leave off, okay. Uh And moreover, because the preacher was wise.
He still taught the people knowledge, Yes, he gave good heed. and sought out and set in order many proverbs. He's speaking about himself, isn't he? He goes on to say The preacher sought to find out acceptable words And that which was written was upright, even words of truth.
Now What is the one thing That will never ever pass away.
Well, that's that's God's word. Yeah. This is what he's s talking about here, the truth. Even words of truth, okay? And all truth comes from God, huh?
He says The words of the wise are as goads and nails fastened by the masters of assemblies which are given from one shepherd.
So who is the shepherd? Shepherd's Jesus Christ. All right, and what is it referring to? The the nails and the goads, when they're fastened, what does that do? It holds things together just like the Word of God does.
Right, it's held absolutely.
Now And he goes in and further by these, my son, Be admonished of making many books, There is no end, and much safety is a or much study is a weariness of the flesh. Uh you know, in my lifetime Uh I've had a number of people wanting me to write a book. And writing books takes a lot of time. And s someday those books will be forgotten, but The works that we do for the Lord will never be forgotten. They'll be kept, and it'll all be there to see.
And so instead of writing books I did Delore's work, but what we did is we made A history kept of the works in those DVDs. fifty years without ever a boring day and and some We there's a lot of exciting stories in there and those D V D's that we have. And so he goes on, in fact I never wrote a book, but I've been written about in a number of books. friends of mine who are all authors A number of them wrote chapters in their books about about, you know, what we're doing, you know, in the ministry and such. He goes on to say.
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter. Fear God Keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, With Every secret thing, whether it be good or whether it be evil, So the bottom line here Uh Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter. I you know, I just uh was dealing with some folks and they said, you know, What you said makes so much sense. When you know when it says that and fear God and keep his commandments.
That makes so much sense, okay? And I'm talking to some people. That you know the Bible says pretty clearly Uh not Two. Forsake the assembling of yourself to the house of God. In other words, Go to church.
Don't ever put God in second place. Keep God in first place, right? It also tells you to make sure your feet find the path to the house is that right.
So these people t were I was talking to were telling me, you know, that's that's spot on. Spot on, but it and it's like They don't realize it applies to them too. It applies to them. Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter. Fear God, he's talking about.
A reverential fear, isn't he? And keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.
So Our whole duty is is obedience to God, is it not? For God shall bring every work into judgment. with every secret thing, whether it be good or whether it be evil.
So does God keep pretty good records? Yes, sir. He does.
Okay, I know we're up against the end of the So let me ask you tonight, did you learn anything in this message tonight? Yes, I did. Good game. Uh and uh You learn to keep an eye out certain people to see if they actually look like a grasshopper when they're walking away right now. Yes, I did.
Yeah. Yeah. And we And if and if they're listening right now, I could be in trouble. Mm-hmm. But but you you you learned about what the with the old Solomon, he was pretty wise and to make a a comparison with our aging bodies, but Here again Ugh.
I I've got to say I was really Really, uh Impressed with Billy Graham's message, I've never seen him preach that way. Uh Yeah. with such fervor Uh And And s and he's referring to the To the old folks, be militant. You know, you senior citizens. Take your stand.
You've earned it. You've been here. You've worked your whole life. You have a a lot. A lot of knowledge, a lot of experience.
You're not second-class citizens. And don't don't try to pacify the world out there by saying, Well, I'll just see her, sit here, and look like an old person Be seen and not heard.
Well, we're out of time for tonight. I want to thank all you folks for being here with me. And then tomorrow we want to say Good night. God bless. And always, always ready let's do it.
Keep Fighting the Bye. Fight Fight. Fight Fight? Fight and get ready for the big one. Fight, great fight, fight, great.
