Man, today is a strange day. I uh I got up at 3.30. This morning. Just to pray for this service. I didn't realize it in the first service.
Uh an elder Slip the note to our head usher. Said, we've been praying. I didn't realize this is happening until after the service.
So the Spirit of God has told us there will be a demonic element. in in the first service. And there was. There was a demonized person that manifested while I was preaching. And afterward, I said, Lord, what was that about?
God spoke to me so Yeah. You didn't think you could just preach on demons and pushing back the kingdom of darkness and Satan not push back, did you? And I think that's what happened first service. I um This is not hyperbole. This sermon will make 75% of you mad on at least one point, okay?
To understand this is coming from a heart of love, this is coming from a shepherd's heart, a pastor's heart. Look, I know some of y'all gonna be angry. But I don't work for you. I work for the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, and I got to say whatever He's put on my heart today. You're clapping now.
Let's see if you're clapping in about 10 minutes here. You know, January is the time for house cleaning. Getting rid of all the j clutter and the junk. In fact, one poll said 61% of Americans say January is my time to do a house cleaning to get rid of all the clutter and the junk. January.
Now you're doing a Physical house cleaning. But some of us today need to do a spiritual house cleaning. That's some things we're doing and tolerating and keeping in our homes. That's given the enemy a great opportunity to move. We clean out the physical clutter, but what about the spiritual clutter?
You know, there's an evangelism training thing that says when you witness somebody, I have no problem with this. When you witness somebody, you start with this. God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life. All right, that's true. But let me tell you something else.
Satan hates you. And he has a horrible plan for your life. And your marriage. And your home. And the enemy wants to enter your home.
He's just looking for a portal. to enter in. The demonic forces that we come against, they are looking for a portal to enter into your home. And some of y'all have some portals that need to be closed today. Bible says this in First Peter 5:8.
Be sober. Be vigilant because your adversary, the devil, walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. He wants to destroy you. John 10, 10, the thief does not come except to steal. And to kill And to destroy.
Moms and dads, are y'all listening to me? Satan is trying to to find a portal into your home to destroy your family. And y'all, the spirits are leaders. You got to shut those portals.
Now, I know, I understand. The kids run the families today. I get it. But at some point, you're going to have a backbone of steel and you're going to stand up and say, no, we're not going to tolerate this family in our home anymore. Today you need to close some things.
It's time to do a spiritual house cleaning.
So what do I need to clean out?
Well number one You, some of you need to clean out some physical items in your house. If you look at Joshua chapter 7, there's this man named Achan, A-C-H-A-N. He tolerated some physical things in his house that he should not have tolerated, and it destroyed his family.
Well, Chad, what kind of things are you talking about?
Now, I don't have all day. I could go on and on and on with this stuff. Let me give you some examples. Number one: dream catchers. Amen.
If you have these things in your house, you need to get them out. I talked to a Native American leader that goes to our church. He's actually the leader of a Native American tribe. I said, Do you have one of those? That's big with a Native American.
He said, Absolutely not. He said, We Native Americans understand that this is a portal designed to open up the world of the spirits into your house. No, I would not have that in your house. If you got one, you need to get rid of it. I've preached on this on Wednesday nights with our Wednesday night studies numerous times, but I've never shared that on Sunday morning.
Crystals. I didn't realize how popular crystals had gotten. They have a New Age origin. In fact, I didn't realize this. There's a teaching that crystals will accelerate your prayers.
You hold a crystal while you pray, and your prayers have more power. That's new age. But that's demonic, that's not Christian, that's not biblical. I tell this story a lot. Um And the reason I tell it, two reasons I tell this story a lot that I'm about to tell.
Number one is this: this was the first time I was a young man studying in ministry. I had never experienced anything like this before. That's one of the reasons I tell this story. Second reason I'm telling the story that I'm about to tell is it's a Baptist story. Because what I'm going to say today, a lot of stuff I'm going to say, y'all, wow, he's one of them crazy Pentecostals.
This is not a Pentecostal story. This is a Baptist story, okay? But I was going to college. And there's a classmate studying for ministry as well. And the professor said, man, you want to share your story?
He said absolutely. He said, we got a two-year-old daughter at home. And uh She wouldn't sleep. I know kids fight sleep. This is different.
She would wake up in the night screaming. Her eyes were wide. She was in terror. It was a night terror, night after night after night after night. My wife couldn't sleep.
I couldn't sleep. It was starting to affect our marriage.
So we took her to a doctor.
So, this girl's not sleeping. Doctor says, Well, that's normal. They said, No, no, no, this isn't normal. Doctor examiner said, well, there's no problem. I can't find any medical problems.
Took her to a psychologist. Psychologists and I, we can't find any problems. Took her to a psychiatrist, and the psychiatrist said, We can medicate her. They got her on medication, and it didn't help. She would still wake up in the middle of the night, just screaming, terrified.
Went to the professor of this class. She's a godly woman, and she's a professor of this class. And said, Look, can you pray for me? Said, You're a woman of God. You love Jesus.
We're about to, we're at our wits' end. What do we do? We've been to doctors, psychologists, psychiatrists. This little daughter of ours will not sleep. She wakes up terrified.
And the professor said, Well, now, describe for me her bedroom.
So well her bed is here Her chest of drawers is here. Her nightstand with her troll collection is here. She said, stop. What collection? A troll collection.
You know, there's little trolls with a little hair. She said, Look, in Nordic mythology, trolls were manifestations of incubi and succubi, which are demons that would come down and mess with little girls. You need to get rid of those trolls. He said, Look, we got a lot of money invested in those trolls. Grandparents have given us these collector items.
She said, I'm telling you, you got to get rid of them. He said we bundled them up. Threw him in the dumpster. That night she slept like a baby and no problems since then. And that's when I realized there are portals into the spirit world that some of us are throwing wide open.
Um here's another one. Buddha statues. Can I ask you something? Have you lost your mind, Christian? Why do you have one of these in your house?
Why do you have a demonic idol in your house?
Well, it goes with our decor in our Feng Shui, you're not. You need to get rid of that thing. That's a demonic idol that you have in your house. Buddhism is a demonic religion. We have a missionary statesman that's friends with Cross Assembly, been all around the world, 100 countries or whatever.
I asked him. I said, what is the most dark, demonic country you've ever been in? Without skipping a beat, he said. To bed. He said, Tibetan Buddhism is a demonic, spiritually dark religion.
We like to kind of sanitize that in America. He said, it's a demonic religion. Which, incidentally, on Saturday, I don't know if you saw this in the paper. On Saturday in Raleigh. A whole group of Buddhist monks who are doing a walk across America are going to be coming through Raleigh on Saturday.
And in this newspaper article, it said.
Now, here's a protocol on how to greet them. If you'd like to see them this Saturday, it'll be a great event. Go see them. Here's the protocol. You put your hands together.
And you bow. Look, you're right here. These knees will only bow to one person. That's Jesus Christ, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.
Now we're not mean to them, we're nice to them, we're kind to them, we love them. But I hope Satan made a strategic error in sending them through Raleigh because I hope a couple of those Buddhist monks get saved and become Apostle Paul's, who will lead other Buddhists to the Lord Jesus Christ. But I'm telling you, this is real. One of our pastors on staff. Because of confidentiality, I won't tell you his name.
Let's just hypothetically call them Chris Connell. And Pastor Chris went to India years ago and on a mission trip. And when he got back from India, first night back. His wife started screaming in the night. She says, Somebody's in our house.
There's somebody standing right there. He jumped up, turned on the light, there's nobody there.
Next night she wakes up screaming.
Somebody's broken into somebody in our house, there's a dark figure. Same corner, right there. Wait, there's nobody there. Night after night after night. And then sickness started ravaging their family.
And then finally, one of the ladies in our church had a prophetic word, and she said, Spirit of God spoke to me and said, You brought back something from India you should not have brought back. And he said, no. The only thing I brought back was a a peacock. You do some investigating. In Hinduism, peacocks are considered divine.
There's some kind of divine, demonic connection with peacocks. He took that peacock statue, which incidentally had been on the very corner where they were seeing that manifestation. He took that peacock, threw it away. Nothing after that. No sickness, no manifestations.
What's in your house that needs to be thrown away? It's time to do some spiritual house cleaning. Number two, okay. Number one, get rid of some physical items. Number two, you need to get rid of dark media.
Amen. demonic horror movies. Like Scary video games. Y'all bring all the Stephen King books you want. I would not have one of his books in my house.
I don't want anything remotely dealing with darkness and demons and go. I don't want that mess in my house. And some of y'all need to clean some stuff out of your house. Hey, somebody need to clean some music out of your house. There's a one of the biggest rap stars today is a man named Skrilla He's the one that started this whole stupid 6-7 thing or whatever.
Skrilla? is demonic. He says He says, I sacrifice goats, I sacrifice animals to demons. One thing I've learned in my 53 years here on earth, when somebody tells you who they are, maybe you ought to believe them. And yet you have them on your playlist and wonder why you're dealing with a demonic.
You've opened a portal into your house. Popular, so y'all don't think I'm just being anti-rap. A popular country music singer in one of his concerts recently integrated occultic, pagan, demonic elements into his show. And I looked at what Christians are saying about this, and they're like, well, yeah, Zach Brown, he's just kind of being silly. Don't worry about that, he's just being funny.
Okay, let me pull up a verse right here. Ephesians 5, 11. I want you to see this. I want to drill this verse into your spirit. Ephesians 5.11.
Says this. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.
Well, Pastor, what does that mean? Have Nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness. Do I really have to explain that to you? All right, now look. Haven't eaten all week.
I'm lightheaded. I'm in a bad mood.
So let me just, whatever, okay? I've never talked about this before. When I was a kid, I did Halloween. I loved Halloween. I thought Halloween was great.
Something has shifted in our culture in the last couple of years. There's a demonic edge to our culture that I didn't have when I was a little kid. You do what you want to do. I would recommend you not do the Halloween thing.
Well, Pastor, I'm the leader of my house. I can do whatever I want to do. You let me lead.
Okay, that's fine. Do what you want to do, but I'm still preaching. And I'm telling you here right now, you need to stay away from that stuff. Um again. Darling, my wife is sitting here.
She missed the second service, and she kind of was like, Man, maybe you shouldn't share this, but. She's not the boss I am. Yeah. Is she looking at me?
Okay. I was driving around yesterday. She and I were driving around yesterday. And I saw a group of girls, like, goth, they're dressed like the goth stuff. Goth.
And they had um One of them had a vampire cape on.
So I thought that's kind of cool. It's like a witch's coven, kind of doing something, protesting something. And I mean, they're all goth. Weird dressed. Vampire outfit.
And I said, I wonder what's going on. And she and I drove past him. There were Girl Scouts selling Girl Scout cookies. I'm just telling you, there's an occultic, demonic, satanic edge in our society right now that wasn't here 20 years ago. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness.
And that includes dark media. You know, Pastor John Lindell talked about this, and he said, We had a family call our church said, Do y'all believe in haunted houses? I don't know what's going on. I said, well, our house, we've had some interesting things happen. We'll turn off lights the next morning to turn back on.
We'll be downstairs in our family room and we can hear doors open and shutting upstairs. We're walking down the hallway and we'll feel somebody grab us and there's nobody there. But they said we were all gathered in the T V room downstairs. And we were all watching TV. We heard somebody upstairs yell.
This is my house. Get out. He said, what'd you do? They said we got out fast. Can you help us?
Said that we went and prayed over their house, prayed room by room. We opened up their teenage son's room. Their teenage son worked at a movie theater. And when horror movies would come on the movies, when the horror movies were off, he said he would take all the paraphernalia back to the house and put it up on his walls. He said, We open the door, walk in.
There are movie advertisements for all these horror movies and some pornography on the wall. We said, that's your problem. Daddy, you're the spiritual leader. Take all these things off and burn them. Father took all those things down and burned them.
They didn't have any problems after that. What kind of media are you tolerating in your house? Number three, gonna do some spiritual house cleaning. You need to get rid of some occultic practices. Because we have people who did not grow up in Christianity coming across assembly who got saved, you may not know this.
So let me tell you this: a Christian cannot read their horoscope. That is demonic, that is satanic, that's witchcraft. You can't look at your horoscope. Tarot cards. You can't play with tarot cards.
Christians cannot go and visit. Psychics, go on the psychic hotline, watch long idling medium. You can't do that. Here's what psychics do. There's an Old Testament concept called a familiar spirit.
Have you heard of this before? That's where you go to a psychic. The psychic says, I'm in touch with your grandfather. And he's telling me all this stuff, you're like. My goodness, he has been touched by my grandfather.
Only my grandfather would know this. What you don't know is it is a demon. Posing as your grandfather, giving you all this information, and you've opened up a portal to the demonic. That's a familiar spirit. You can't do that if you're a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ.
You know, Mary Todd Lincoln learned this the hard way. That was Abraham Lincoln's wife. She had a young son to die while Abraham Lincoln was president. And she was so overwhelmed with grief, she started having seances in the White House. I think she had like eight seances to try to contact this dead son.
In one of the seances, they say that a piano in the White House levitated. She opened the door to the demonic, and she died in an insane asylum years later. She let the demons in. Mm-hmm. You ready for this one?
Again, Pastor John Lind will help me with this one. Yoga. A lot of Christians disagree with me. That's okay. I've got family members who love Jesus, who practice yoga.
All right, do what you want to do. But I'm going to give you the reasons why I stay away from yoga. These reasons and I just don't look good in yoga pants.
So, anyway, I. Fifty years ago, everybody knew yoga was attached to Hindu mysticism. Everybody knew that? We got a lot of cross members from India where yoga started. And when I ask these, I do this every now and then.
I'll ask these born-again Christian cross-assembly members from India. Where yoga started, I'll sleep. Should a Christian practice yoga? They'll look at me like I'm crazy, like I've lost my mind. They're like, what?
Of course Christians should not. Mess with yoga. Why do you even ask me that question? It's so obvious to us who come from the land of yoga that Christians shouldn't do this. I'm surprised you're even asking me.
Yoga comes from the Sanskrit word united. And it means to unite body, soul, and spirit with the divine universal consciousness. Part of yoga is something called asana, which are body positions. Every body position in yoga is meant to pay homage to a different Hebrew deity. For example, the sun salutations are meant to greet and celebrate the Hindu sun god Surya, who gives health and life.
When you do these sun poses, you are actually paying homage to a Hindu demon god. In yoga, you've heard people go um um Um is considered the primal sacred sound of the universe, representing the voice of God. But not our God. No, no, the demonic Hindu god Brahmin. When you do um you are trying to echo the voice of this demon God Hatha yoga.
You see, Hatha Yoga, there are different kinds of yoga, and people do Hatha Yoga. Oh no, this is the Americanized version of yoga. But in Hatha Yoga, the instructor often gives the students a mantra to repeat while they're doing the yoga, and many times that mantra that they repeat is the name of a demonic Hindu deity. Anybody share that? There's a a lady named Jen Neza.
Jen Nizza was a pagan A cult leader? She was into the occult. She was into paganism. She was into all that kind of weird size. She was a psychic, all this stuff.
And she got born again. And now that she's a born-again Christian. Christianity today, which is not a conservative Christian magazine. I don't know if you know this. Billy Graham started it as a conservative Christian magazine.
It's not conservative anymore. But even they did a story on Jen Nizza and this former psychic, this former occultist, now she's using her platform to warn Christians against yoga. She says, quote, I used to do yoga ritualistically. And yoga really opened me up and helped me to receive communication from evil spirits. According to Nizza, Hinduism has, quote, over 330 million false gods which are demons, and they're honoring them with these postures.
That's what yoga is. It's not just stretching and breathing, it is honoring demons with your posture, end quote.
Well, Ted, I know I'm different. I play Christian music while I do my yoga.
Okay. That's like you telling me, I do the Ouija board, but it's okay. I put my Bible on the Ouija board while I'm doing it. It doesn't make sense. And you can put all the cute little goats you want to into your yoga routine.
It doesn't make it any less demonic. Here's another one. The Enneagram personality test. The earliest mention of the Enneagram, and this has become mainlined into the church. Churches actually use this.
This Enneagram personality test. The Enneagram was first mentioned by the Russian occultist. P. D. Uspanski.
The first person to connect the Enneagram to a personality test was the philosopher Oscar Ichazzo. Ichazzo said he got the inspiration from the Enneagram while he was high on a hallucinogenic, and the angel Metatron appeared to him and gave him directions. One of the men who really took this, popularized it, mainstreamed, one of the fathers of Enneagram.
Somebody asked him, How did you get this inspiration? He said, It was through automatic writing. Automatic writing is when you sit there. And you empty your mind and you let spiritual forces come and you just start writing. And he said, that's how I got the inspiration.
Now here's what some of y'all want to say. Yeah, but Jen. This helped me. This worked.
Okay. That's called pragmatism. Pragmatism says if it works, it must be right. Not everything that works is right. Chad, it helped me.
Yeah, but it was inspired by demons. Yeah, but it helped me. Yeah. Yeah, but it's demonic. And so y'all gotta be real careful.
Y'all think this is a big game we're playing. This is not a game. I'm very serious here. We're dealing with serious stuff, whether it be yoga, objects, Enneagram. We're dealing with some really serious life and death stuff.
Church. And so there are some practices you're going to have to abandon if you're going to do some spiritual house cleaning. Let me get a few more. Number four, finances. Part of your spiritual house cleaning in 2026 is get your finances in order.
All right, I was praying about this during a fast this week. This is one of the things that came into my heart. I said, Lord, why is it? The most stable families in this church are tithers. There are exceptions.
Okay, I get it. There are exceptions.
But by and large, the most stable families in our church are tithers. Why is that? Our families who do not tithe By and large, I see a lot of instability in their families. You know what I'm saying about tithing? Tithing is the first 10% of your income goes to God.
That's tithing. Spirit of God took me back to a passage. I've read this a million times. I'd never seen this before. It took me back to Matthew chapter 3, verse 10.
God says, Bring all the tithes. Into the storehouse, this church is your storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And try me now in this, says the Lord of hosts. If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such a blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it. That's great.
And we use a stop right there. Spirit of God said, go to the next verse. Verse 11. And I will rebuke The devourer for your sakes. I said, okay, God, that's good.
Who's the devourer? You tithe, I'm going to bless you. And I'm going to rebuke the devourer. Never forget this: Scripture is the best interpreter of scripture. And that word devourer is used in 1 Peter 5:8.
Be sober, be vigilant, for your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he made. Devour. Could it be that God is saying, when you get your finances in order and you operate financially according to my word, the enemy does not have room to move in your finances or in your family? The devourer has got to keep his mouth shut. You say, no, no, no, for me it's not a spiritual thing.
I don't tithe. Because I want a house in this part of Raleigh. I want to vacation this house here at Oak Island. I want to have that jet ski. I want to drive that car.
That's why I don't tithe. Thank you for being honest. Seriously.
Okay, we call that Selfishness. I don't tithe because I'm selfish. James chapter 3, verse 14. But if you are bitterly jealous and there is selfish ambition in your heart, don't cover up the truth with boasting and lying. For jealousy and selfishness are not God's kind of wisdom.
Such things are earthly. Unspiritual and Demonic. Why don't you try this? Why don't you try to do your finances God's way and see if maybe the devourer keeps his mouth shut and doesn't wreak havoc in your family and your home?
Okay, I'm losing you. Let's give you a couple more here. Number five.
Some cleaning that needs to be done in your house. are drugs. The Greek word for demonism is pharmakia. Amen. We get the English word pharmaceuticals from that.
The Greeks in Christ's day understood there is a connection between drugs. and a portal to the enemy. He's a child, okay. You know, what about statins? Are you coming together?
My statins, you know, I don't look. Let's make a deal. You can keep your statins if you'll give up your weed. How about that? Can we start there?
Because I got Christians in this church emailing me and texting me and asking me, Chad, what's wrong with weed, with marijuana? I've gone through the concordance. The word marijuana is not mentioned in the Bible. Genesis chapter 2, God says to Adam and Eve, I'm giving you all the herbs of the earth. I just choose the herb marijuana.
So listen to me. Keep using it. Keep using it if you want. But don't come crying to me when Satan is wreaking havoc in your family, in your mind, in your emotions, when he's destroying your life. I'm telling you, that door needs to be shut.
We got some substance abuse people in our church. You need to have daddy gently come and spank you this morning and say, You're hurting yourself and you're killing yourself. Flush those drugs and get rid of it. That's a portal into your home. Let me give you one more portal.
It's pornography. Pornography is a giant It's a giant portal into your family. The world's largest pornography website boasts 130 million visitors every single day. 130 million visitors. Sapphia Sam Who's an author who's developed a system to deliver people from porn?
Says he has, quote, noticed a demonic component to porn addiction. He says, quote, the reality is, when you engage in something as toxic as pornography, you are almost like literally dancing with the devil. You're really engaging with something demonic and giving him a foothold. At two o'clock a.m., porn habit. You have.
You don't think anybody else sees? Satan cease. And he's using that as a wide open door into your home. You gotta get rid of that. All of these things.
Can I give you a summary verse that'll help you? I'm going to summarize my last 20 minutes with 2 Corinthians 6:14. What fellowship has light? With darkness. You've been saved out of that mess.
You've been pulled out of the kingdom of darkness. Don't go back to the kingdom of darkness. You've been saved from that mess. Walk in the kingdom of light. Church.
I think it's a good idea. Thanks a lot. I came to church today. to feel good about myself. I was so proud.
I came to church on a cold, rainy January day when most people stay at home. I was feel so good about myself.
Now you feel crummy. I've got all this stuff in my life. I see some areas, some portals in my life. What do I do? Same thing you do when you do a physical house cleaning.
You bag it up and you throw it away. That's what you do. I love this verse. Proverbs chapter 28, verse 13. He who covers his sins.
Will not prosper. But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy. You confess. God, I was either stupid. Or disobedient, but I open a portal, I'm sorry, I forsake that portal in the name of Jesus Christ.
You have mercy. That's all you got to do.
Now, if I were you, if you got some serious stuff in your house, I would. Maybe take communion in your house, and I might get some oil and anoint all the doors and windows of you. I would do something like that. But you confess and you forsake. It's not that you make things so complicated, it's not that complicated.
You confess and you forsake.
Well, Chad.
Now I'm scared. Got my son sitting next to me. He's seven years old. He was already scared of ghosts, and you've kind of stoked that fear today. Thanks a lot, Jed.
What do I do if I'm afraid of demons? Satan Eighth forces of darkness. What do I do? Won't you listen to me? A spirit-filled Christian.
Does not have the option of being afraid of demons. You don't have that option. Because greater is he who's in you than he who's in this world. Revelation 12, 11 says this. They overcame Satan by the blood of the Lamb.
Which means The moment you got saved, you became spiritually covered in the blood of Jesus. Everywhere you go, you are covered in the forgiving blood of Jesus Christ. You've been washed clean through the blood of Jesus Christ. And when Satan and the demons see you, they get scared and they run the other way because you're a blood-covered child of the Most High God. Demons hate the blood.
Demons hate the blood. We've got a member of our church that's kind of a radical. Went downtown Raleigh with his guitar to leading some worship, just kind of worship evangelism. And he came upon some demon people, demonic, like a coven or something. I guess it's a coven.
And he's like, man, can I play some worship music for you? They're like man, yeah, we love music. He said, I was playing this worship music. He says, connecting with them. They were quiet, they were listening to me.
They weren't fighting me, they were listening. And they said, I started singing this song from the third day: You Are Beautiful, My Sweet, Sweet Song. And there's one part of that. That song that goes like this. You died upon the cross.
You poured out all your blood. You are the Jesus who loves me. He said, the moment I mention the blood of Jesus, That coven said, We're done. You're done. Get away.
We don't want to hear any song about the blood. Demons. Hate. The blood. And today is a good day to remind you.
You're a blood-bought, blood-saturated, blood-covered child of the Most High God. That's who you are. And so stand with me right now. Take out that bread. I've been to the place, the place in Jerusalem.
Where Jesus' back was torn to shreds. By the rolling whip. I've been there. I've been to the very spot where Isaiah said chunks of his beard. were torn out.
I've been there. Where Jesus' body was broken for us. He said, ah, them Jews, I can't believe the Jews killed them. Jews didn't kill them. You killed him.
I cure. It was our sins that killed Jesus Christ. I love what Billy Graham used to say years ago. God loves you so much. That if you've been the only person ever born You would have still needed a savior.
