This is the Truth Network. Welcome to Truth Talk Live. All right, let's talk. The truth is, I can't hide it. A daily program powered by the Truth Network.
This is kind of a great thing, and I'll tell you what. Where pop culture, current events, and theology all come together. Speak your mind. And now, here's today's Truth Talk Live host. Welcome to Truth Talk Live.
This is Peter Rosenberger. Glad to be with you today. If you want to be a part of the program 866. thirty four TRUTH eight six six Three four eight seventy eight eighty four. Yeah.
I've got something I want to throw out to you today. We can talk about anything that's on your mind. Whatever you is Burning an idea in your brain, feel free to give it a call. But I have a couple of things I'd like to run by you and see. what your thoughts are as well.
And I've been stewing on this, and particularly watching some of the things that are going on in the headlines right now. The headlines are Um And about headlines, I'm dating myself because do we even have headlines anymore? Um We're seeing a trend in a lot of things. And I watched this election last night in Michigan. And um The Michigan Voters.
For example, that voted for uh Abdul. I say ye. as the Democrat nominee for The Senate from Michigan, which it's kind of hard to believe we're here at this point in our country. And I'm struck by a couple of things. They don't seem to be voting based on what they believe is evil.
They believe they're candidates and that candidates' policy and and position on Israel are right.
Now, they're not saying that we are wrong, we are evil, and this is how we're going to vote. They're saying we are right, and you are wrong. And um Iran does not describe its own threats and ambitions or control of Hormuz as evil. It frames them as justice and sovereignty and Part of the uh their religion and and so forth. And We We see this a lot in the conversations.
Everyone seems to claim the moral high ground. But They cannot all define morality for themselves and still si occupy the same ground. And so you look at these things, and okay, well, what does scripture say about this? That's the first question we should ask: what do the scriptures say?
Well Let's go back. to the book of Judges.
Well what was going on there? Um The crisis that people are having right now is not that they've stopped believing in right or wrong. It appears that the crisis that everyone believes that. He or she possesses the authority to define right or wrong. And in the book of Judges is Particularly powerful, I believe, because it doesn't permit.
you know this Partisan smugness that we have. It's written about God's covenant people, not. merely the surrounding pagans. Israel retained religious language while replacing God's judgment with with its own. And I'm watching this, and then I go back and look at the book of Judges.
When every one is certain that he or she is right, who has the authority to tell any of us that we're wrong?
Now, what does it say throughout the book of Judges? What is the scripture that comes to mind? The book of Judges almost. Many of the chapters ends with one of the one of these most chilling scriptures in all of all of the Bible. Judges 21, 25.
In those days there was no king in Israel. every one did what was right in his own eyes. Do you feel like we're there? in our country right now. Do you feel that this is where the United States has gotten to, where everyone is just doing what is right in their own eyes?
Have you heard that phrase? My truth. Speak your truth. We don't say speak the truth. We speak, do you swear to tell your truth?
You know, that kind of thing. We want everybody to have their own truth.
Well, not everybody can have their own truth. At some point There has to be truth. And You know, and again, I go back to what we talked about last week with Dr. Fauci. um being sworn in to tell the truth in front of Congress and then refused to do so.
But if you notice, he took his right hand up and he held it up, and made a vow to tell the truth. And then he promptly said 111 times that he's not going to do that because it may incriminate him. And he's not going to, he's just going to play the fifth. Which he has a right to do so. It doesn't mean that he's guilty.
I don't think it goes a long way to prove that he's not. And I've got an article about that today on my Substack. If you want to go take a look, caregiver.substack.com, caregiver.substack.com. And my Contention is that if what he's saying is true, if he believed in what he was doing. Then why did he only go on MS Now.
CNN, ABC, that kind of stuff, and avoid the highest rated news programs, which were all on Fox.
So you would think that if you really cared about What you were doing and why you were doing it, you would be willing to go to anywhere to at least make your case. But he he wouldn't split his time between Sean Henner and Sean Hennedty and Rachel Baddow. He just went over to where the the lights were friendly.
Well, the truth doesn't need friendly lights, does it? I remember I was um Talking to A publisher of mine when I had a book come out, and I said we were talking about media opportunities of where I'd go and so forth. And I said, Well, I'd go on the View. And my publisher was aghast by that. And they were like, no.
We're never going to let you go on the view. I wouldn't let you go on the view. And I said, what do you mean? There are caregivers there. My book is for caregivers.
There are caregivers there. I'll go anywhere. to talk to family caregivers. I don't care if they're avowed atheists. I can help.
And I have a Mandate. to be able to go everywhere. And sheer You know, that which I know. Preach the gospel, make disciples, tell the good news. And I thought, why didn't Dr.
Fauci, if he believed that what he was doing was to save lives, why didn't he go to where the more lives would listen? And that's my issue with one of my issues with him. You can read about that in the article. But again, it goes back to truth. And every man doing what is right in their own eyes.
Do you feel that that's where we are now? as a country, that we're just doing what is right in our own eyes. I see. Conservatives, liberals. With um Very, very Um how can I say this, flexible?
uh standards when it comes to sexuality. Marriage Homosexuality. Homosexuals adopting children. It I don't see any difference. I see people in the church.
winking at sexual sin.
Well, it's okay if they live together. You know, all right, let's just don't do that anymore. Let's go ahead and get you married, that kind of thing. And not do it. Everybody's doing what is right in their own eyes.
Um this'll date me. And it may date some of you all, but I remember the firestorm created when Pat Boone's daughter, Debbie Boone, sang You light up my life. How can it be wrong if it feels so good? Feels so right. And uh That's where we are.
What is truth? Where is truth? What happens here? Why is this important to us? And when I get to the end of these chapters in Judges, and the people of Israel did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, and the people did what, but they were thinking they were doing.
right in their own eyes. It didn't say that everyone did what he knew was wrong, said it did. Everybody was doing what they thought was right. Do you think that's more dangerous? And these were not necessarily people waking up every morning and said, I think I'll do something evil today.
They had simply made themselves the standard. They no longer asked, What has God said? They ask what seems right to me. And I think that's a good thing. As I talk with people who are going through all kinds of dilemmas in their life and so forth, and I simply ask a question.
I heard my father ask this for his entire life.
Well, what does God say about this? What does scripture say about this? You know, I remember asking that during a a church conflict one time. Uh it was a pretty ugly conflict. And finally I asked him, I said, well, I asked the elders of the church, I said, well, what does God have to say about this?
And they looked at me like I'd slapped them. How dare you bring up God in a religious fight?
So let's go to the scriptures. Let's see what God has to say about this. And I want to hear what you have to say as well. What are your thoughts, maybe? Maybe this is something that's been bugging you.
It's certainly bugging me on it. 866. 34 TRUTH 866-348. 7884 will be right back. Tired of conversations Welcome back to Truth Talk Live.
This is Peter Rosenberger. Glad to be with you, 866. thirty four truth eight six six three four eight 7884 if you want to be a part of the program. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this. And um We're talking about I went back to the book of Judges.
We're talking about, you know, Who who gets to decide what is right? Who who makes that decision? What does that look like? What guides you on that? And and I was um Uh let me let me Back up and go way back in the vault here with something that happened many, many years ago, decades ago.
We were faced with a decision to do a medical procedure on my wife. And She's had quite a few over the years and and deals with a lot of Very, very serious challenges, and I host a radio program for caregivers on this network. every week as well as this one. And so I deal in that world a lot. And I um Uh We struggle with this a lot.
We did a lot of research on it. And we were still struggling with it. Went to our pastor and sat down, and the pastor said something that really. um changed my life a good bit and and my wife's. He said this is not a moral decision.
You've done your due diligence, you've done your research, but you're not going to commit a sin. by doing this. One way or the other. If you say no, I'm not going to do this. Then that's not a that's not a sin.
If you say, yes, I'm going to do this, you're not being disobedient to the will of God. You're simply collecting information. Making the best decision possible and trusting the Lord with it, but you're not doing this in a vacuum. This is not a moral situation. And that really freed me up a lot because I thought sometimes we were so afraid: am I going to do the wrong thing?
Am I going to do the right thing? And I don't. I don't s you know, we we we kind of put ourselves in kind of boxes like this. But there are very serious things that Scripture is incredibly clear on. on what is right and what is wrong.
But who, and the question that I'm asking at the top of this block.
Well, who gets to decide what is right? And so I look at these election results that are going. On here, for example, abortion. Um But it's you know, we as a country decided well, the Supreme Court decided some time ago That it was okay to do abortions in this country, and then everybody said it's the law of the land.
Well, it still wasn't right, was it? And it's still not. It'll never be right. Just because something is necessarily legal in your country doesn't make it right. We've legalized gay marriage in this country.
Is that right? Is it right to do so? It's legal. Does that make it right? And When everybody starts doing what is right in their own eyes, which I go back to the book of Judges with, There was no king in the land, so everybody just did what was right in his own eyes.
That is a very dangerous place to be. And this has also been on my mind because I saw in the conservative world, you'll see. gay marriage going on in the conservative world. and gay couples adopting children. They can legally do that.
Is it right? What does scripture have to say about this? And the question we have to ask ourselves as believers: so, what's our response to this? If Scripture says this, then what are the implications for us? Where do we bow the knee?
to culture or to scripture? Who decides this? Do you see where I'm going with this? Because I'm watching this as our country as we go in this slippery. slope and if if ten million people approve something that God condemns Has morality changed?
So let's go back up to Michigan, for example. If if uh El Said wins the election and becomes a a United States Senator. Does his religious world view now matter? To us as a country? Of a hundred senators in Yeah, the US Senate.
One of them would be espousing the views that he does. Do you do you agree with his views? He's trying to soft pedal a little bit some things he said during the campaign for the Democrat nomination. But he's certainly Has on the record said his views on Israel, his views on a lot of things. Of course worldview matters.
Every candidate has one. And and Christians can't argue that a Christian candidate's faith shapes his view of government and then pretend a Muslim candidate's faith is irrelevant. I mean, it's not going to work that way. Um So Do we treat somebody's religious identity as proof of disloyalty? Or, well, I mean, how do you want to respond to this?
Okay. If somebody is proposing communist things in our country? How do you want to respond to this? How do we go for this? Where do we stand?
And I have maintained for some time that if Christians actually voted, According to Scripture, The the principles and laws of Scripture. We'd have a much different country, but we have a lot of Christians that don't even vote. I remember last week we had Jamal call in and he. He talked about how he's trying to get involved in local elections. And local politics as much as he possibly can because he's been very busy and we're all living our lives.
It's very busy, but can you afford to get into it? And if you don't, well then who's going to spend time in it? And I think we know that now.
So do we do we want To seed. the the scriptural authority. And just say, well, just live and let live. Is that how far of a gap is that between every man doing what is right in his own eyes. There was no king in the land.
And every man did what was right and so nice. How far a gap is that between live and let live? What are your thoughts on that? 86634-TRUTH, 866-343. You know, one of the things I've maintained as well.
is that The government is not here to sanctify us. The the President can't repent for us. The Supreme Court can't regenerate the human heart. And civil authority, though, was established by God. Scripture clearly does that.
And we're to pray for these guys, even for. You know, and Paul didn't, by the way, when Paul said all these things, he didn't qualify that it was a good king or a bad king, or a good government or a bad government. He just said, Pray for him. And if it's up to you, live peacefully. But can we live peacefully?
with people who want to tear down the entire country. Can we live peacefully with people who want to defraud this country and steal and plunder it? and turning it into something that we don't know. Can we live peacefully with that? Can you live peacefully with people?
who are fundamentally opposed to your faith as a Christian. Can you live peacefully, then? Can Jews in this country live peacefully? with people who are fundamentally opposed to their existence. And all of a sudden we have a much different conversation, don't we?
These are these are pretty serious and Topics. But this is where we are as a nation.
So what's the answer? What do we do? Where do we go? How do we respond? Do you feel like your church?
Let's put it down at a local level. Do you feel like your church? Is actively addressing these issues and equipping. your congregation to deal with this. to be a source of light.
Now they're not throwing Christians to the lines at this point. But there are some who would. I'm talking about in this country.
Now, you go overseas and you look at our brothers and sisters in Nigeria and look what's happening to them.
So it's it's there. The the The wickedness in this world is there. And when people start believing their own press and start to do what is right in their own eyes, You know. Nazi Germany thought they were doing what was right in their own eyes. They were pretty comfortable with that.
By the way, they were called the Democratic Socialist Party. The the Nazis were. Just Throwing that out. I don't know if people have made that connection yet, but...
Something to think about. 866-34-TRUTH, 866-348-7884. Have you spent some time in the book of Judges? If you have, I'd like to hear from you. 866-34-TRUTH.
We'll be right back. Truth Talk. At familyminute.org. Welcome back to Truth Talk Live. This is Peter Rosenberger, 866-34-TRUTH, 866-348-7884.
Got to make a correction. It was not called the Nazi Party. It was not called the Democrat Socialist Party. It was the National Socialist German Workers' Party. And um it was not called the Democrat Socialist Party, but they were nationalistic and authoritarian and anti democratic and violently anti Marxist.
And so we've got these competing some we got some Marxists, some socialists. We got man, we're all over the map here in this country. But that's the problem of not the problem, that's the challenge of having a free society, and we've got to deal with it. But I wanted to hear what your thoughts were. Dealing with some of the things of what is right.
What is wrong? Every man did what was right in his own eyes. People think they're doing something right. For example, Medicare for all. Do you think we should?
Do you think we should have Medicare for all? If so, why? What does that look like? It sounds like we're extending a popular benefit. Is that what we're doing?
Or does it mean that the government-controlled health care is for everyone? What is Medicare?
Well, Medicare. Is some is a program, a healthcare program. That but you pay into it. Through your with wages and so forth, you take out withholding from that and you pay into the system. and it's there for you when you turn 65 or when you go on disability.
And to extend it to people who have not paid into the system, is that feasible? Is that something we want to do? And yet, this is what you hear a lot. I'm from the Democrat Party. And I'm just asking the question.
Is that feasible? Is that something you want? Have you ever been to a socialist country where they have socialized medicine? I I've worked in one with our prosthetic limb outfit. That we do, and we teach and equip them to build prosthetic limbs for their own people.
And I got to tell you, I'm underwhelmed. I've seen how it works, and it's not good. If you've got money. You can get anything. But to to bring in all the like and when they promised free housing.
Technically there will be free housing. Section 8 housing, cinder block housing, but it's not going to be great housing. But technically, yeah, that's right, it's free housing. But you see how. Doing this sounds really good.
It may sound right. But we we are free we're very free to throw around terms like we have a right to this. Do we have a right? What what what is healthcare, for example? Let's just Take a moment on this.
What is healthcare? What is healthcare? Somebody has taken the time, starting usually in junior high or high school, to start making good grades. to have an aptitude for science. of some level.
And they've gone on to. Finance, pay for, somebody's paid for, to get an education and learn how to do certain things in medicine with chemistry and everything else that they do. And then they have to go through med school, then they have to go through residency and all these kinds of things. And if they want to be a surgeon, they got to go and spend more time in a fellowship. And there's quite a bit of work involved.
And then I have a right, according to these people in our country now. To go to that person and say you will treat me and somebody else will pay, but I'm not. Is that Is that about it? Did I get that right? I have a right to your services.
and send the bill to someone else. Do we have that right? I mean, I'm a I'm a pianist. I'm a trained pianist. Do you have a right to have music at your wedding or funeral, and then you're going to.
Make me do this, and then I'm going to. And then you're going to send the bill to someone else. You're taking a service that I have. that I can do, I can provide. And you're not going to compensate f me for it at my terms.
You're going to say, here's what you have to pay me, or I have to pay you, that kind of thing. And is that what we're talking about? What do you do in your living? Say, for example, you're a welder.
Well, we all have rights to have good welting. Mm. And you know how to do a skill that I don't. Maybe you're a really good accountant. And I have a right to have good accounting.
and you will give it to me at a reduced cost and send the bill to someone else and they will pay you, but you have to do this for me. You see how When you take this out to you unpack it to the principle of what we're talking about. And all of a sudden it it's a much different conversation, isn't it? Mike and Dayton. Mike, good afternoon.
Welcome to the program. What are your thoughts? Have you spent some time in the book of Judges lately, Mike? Uh No, but I know it's about uh certain things in judges, and I know you wanted callers on that. By the way, Mike, that's a very good statement.
That's that's I haven't heard that kind of specificity in a long time. I know it's about certain things in judges. I'm thinking, wow, Mike, you really nailed the book of Judges on that. That is exposition in a way I have not heard before. I know it's about certain things there.
So I'm just giving you a hard time, Mike, but go ahead. Yes, I called this because I knew you could do a good job making fun of my knowledge. Or lack thereof. Or lack thereof, yeah. No, it's all right.
I'm just giving you, I'm just busting your chops, Mike. I'm just busting your chops. Tell me what you did, and I knew you were going to.
Well, I don't want to disappoint. I mean, you paid top dollar, Mike. $10 is $10. I did. I paid top dollar for this abuse.
Tell me what your thoughts are on this.
Well, my my thoughts on what you're talking about is, you know, um Well the more the more they tax us and the more they come after our our our hard working money, um, even just for property tax. Um ju people living in you know the my next door neighbor is 95 years old and uh they're they're paying four hundred five hundred dollars a month in property tax you know And just for that alone. You know, they could get health care or have someone come into their house and take care of them, you know. Um We uh our go we need to vote. common sense led the station.
And not Let's take it off from the rich and give it to the poor. You know what I mean? And if people just let people be, you know what I mean, and let their lives be. Stop taxing them, stop taking taking money from us, you know? Um we're We people would live pretty well, you know what I mean?
Um Well, and I think we all know that the government is incredibly good stewards of our money. Yeah, exactly. And think of all the quality learing centers we can make. That we have so populated, and we could use what happened in Minnesota as a model to have all those quality learing centers. And um and I and I think that this is what's happening.
We're seeing the rampant fraud. I saw a hundred indictments today in the drug trafficking going on, and then I'm seeing uh all kinds of stuff with the fraud that they're catching and so forth. And We we've been asleep at the Switch here basically while they have plundered And we haven't said anything, and I maintain. And tell me your thoughts on this, Mike. I have maintained.
that if Christians those who call themselves believing Christians. Voted Based on the principles of the Bible, and let that dictate who they vote for. You're not necessarily going to vote for somebody who's going to be a theologian or is going to agree with you, but sometimes you have to go with the lesser of two weevils. And that's an old joke from Master and Commander, Far Side of the Ocean. But that's a great movie, by the way.
But you're going to, if you vote. one that closest aligns with the principles of Scripture, it would change the country forever. Do you have any thoughts on that statement? Yeah, I do. I I think we lose our way.
when we go to the boating booth. I mean I don't understand how someone can vote for someone who, for example, abortion. Yeah. Seriously, I mean If you go to the boating booth and that candidate is a candidate for abortion, then What are you thinking? I mean, we're the that's the lowest of the low for me, you know what I mean.
And um I I I don't understand why You know, where the people have common sense as Christians or non-Christians, I don't know what they're thinking. But I I know what's being voted on. And what's being voted on. is candidates are getting across that are or for abortion. For packing the uh uh the con you know, packing the um Supreme Court.
Voting for taking money from the rich and giving it to everybody who doesn't deserve it. I just don't understand that. I don't I mean, I like a hand up, but not a hand out, you know. Um You know, I it just I'm sorry, I'm not uh eloquent enough to understand you know, to be a campaign manager on on Truth Cop Live. But You're right.
The scripture is where our guidelines are. And it's gotta be in our heart. The scripture's gotta be in our heart.
So we know who to vote for. I'm not saying memorize every book of the Bible. Like I said, I don't know anything about judges. But I know it was about the Israelites, and they were doing some bad things off the top of my head. Judges is um I mean, we need to be smart enough to understand what's going on in our world.
Well, one of the themes that's prevailing in the book of Judges is that basically. They were just having to kind of be on their own. They had judges that would come along, like Gideon and Samson and so forth, Deborah. But for the most part, you'll see there was no king in the land, and therefore, and then the people just did what was right in their own eyes. Yeah.
And, you know, what we're seeing right now is determining who can govern, but it doesn't determine what is righteous. And our country may have good conservative principles on some levels. We may be having good elected officials on some levels, but we cannot confuse that with righteousness. Are we a righteous nation?
Some people say, Are we a Christian nation?
Well, let me ask a better question: Are we a righteous nation? Yeah, that's it. Uh I I Uh you know, the 10% get Is out there, you know, the 10%. I don't know what the other percentage. I don't.
I don't know. who's being quiet and who's being loud. I know that evil is being loud. And I know the The goodness is being quiet. And what needs to happen is the goodness needs to be loud.
Just starve from the the the evil, you know? Um the the evil likes to just stand back and let it happen. And or the good, but the evil just comes out and says, We need this, we need that, we need to do this, you need to do this, we need to stand up for that. But the good goodness of people, we're a little hesitant to say things, you know? I really believe that.
And we need to change that. We'll talk about that when we come back from the break. Why are we hesitant? Why not call it out? And uh, you know.
Why not? And that's a very good question. And what are the implications and the consequences thereof? This is Peter Rosenberger. This is Truth Talk Live, 866-34-TRUTH.
We'll be right back. Thank you, Mike. Welcome back to Truth Talk Live. This is Peter Rosenberger, 866-34-TRUTH, 866-348-7884. We're talking about, I started off with the book of Judges.
Every man, there was no king in the land, and every man did what was right in his own eyes. Are we there? as as a country. I'm watching the elections, I'm watching the discourse, I'm watching the conversation topics going on. in our culture, and I ask, are we there?
Do we feel like Christians are reluctant to say anything? Do we feel like Christians are. Um timid. You just heard uh Stu Epperson Um talk about this on the break when he taught don't get hysterical, get historical. I thought that was pretty funny.
Good job on that, Stu. Let's study history. How did we get here? What what we've been here before This is not there's nothing new. We just do it more efficiently now.
but the same the human heart has not changed. We are still the corrupt sinners that we've always been since the fall. That hasn't changed. We just send more efficiently now, and sometimes we dress a little nicer when we do it. But the corruption of sin is still there.
Do you feel like that Christians are often silent? Because silence feels compassionate? or safe or sophisticated, but You know, silence isn't neutral to the person being harmed. If you saw somebody getting into a car, And they look to be under the influence. Would you say something?
If you saw a mother leaving her child, In a hot car? Just to run into Walmart really quick, would you say something? These are these are The the principle i applies across the board. Is it worth putting yourself out there to save someone else from heartache, pain, suffering? To be mindful of that, to be caring of that?
Is it caring just to say, well, I'll let that mom take care of her kid, live and let live? Yeah, that's what she thinks is she's that's her truth. She's doing what is right in her own eyes. She's just leaving the baby in there for just a minute, and then she's going to run into Walmart. Is that acceptable to you?
If not, why not?
Now apply that same principle. Is it acceptable for us? as the people of God to watch things and not say things.
Well, just live and let live. Wrong is wrong. Right is right. Not because I say so. And that's where the authority we go back to the authority of, well, what does God have to say about this?
What does God have to say about responsibility? about protection. Do you think we can find scriptural basis to? step in and and keep a mother from harming her child. By leaving it in a parked hot car going into Walmart for just 30 minutes?
Do you think we can find a scriptural basis for that? I bet we could. I don't think there's any situation.
Well, it doesn't matter what I think. There is no situation. when it comes to the human heart, in things in our culture. That we're not going to see a scriptural basis for it.
Now, some things, like I said about in the first block, when I had this medical procedure, Gracie and I wrestled with, that's not a moral issue. Our pastor looked at us and said, Look, you're not going to have the wrath of God because you choose to do this procedure or don't. This was a pain management procedure. procedure they were going to try a device to put in to help control her pain. He said, this is not a moral decision.
You're not breaking a commandment on this. You're not doing that. And so you can be at peace on that, that you've done your homework, you've done what is necessary. You know, I don't have to agonize over what color to paint the kitchen. We have minds and we are we're called to use them.
But now, when we see something that is going against scripture. Or this going to put people in harm's way. And the book of Judges didn't describe a nation without religious leaders. They had them there. Sampson was one of the judges.
But it described a nation whose religious leaders have become Participants In the confusion. Do you see religious leaders in our culture. becoming participants. I see clips every day on social media. of pastors.
people wearing robes in front of a church, in front of an altar, proclaiming horrendous blasphemies. When you see somebody dressed in a robe of a major denomination. Saying that Abortion is God's mercy for people. I mean That that We're going into levels of depravity and sin. That is is Phew.
That's that's kinda hard to wrap your mind around that somebody would do it, yet they're doing it. But I was also reading recently about and going into Jesus talking about hell. Did you know that when I think it was Josiah, when he tore down all the places where the people of Israel were sacrificing their own children? They were doing this. to these pagan gods.
And when he cleaned it out, he turned all of those places. into a big trash dump. Gehenna, I think they call it. And it would be perpetually burning trash there. He didn't consecrate that place, he desecrated it so that they would never do this again.
It was so wicked. And he made it into that, and Jesus referenced that where the fire does not quench and the worm doesn't die. And, you know, praise God for a king like Josiah that did this. Are we willing to do the same? Are we willing to To go to that length, to say this is wicked, and it must be cast out.
Are we willing to look in the mirror? Because the book of Judges, by the way. was not written to the pagans. It was written about the people of God. Are we willing to look at that mirror and our own life?
And say, you know, Lord. I am such a sinner. Because we're not able to go out there on a moral crusade, quote unquote, on our own strength. It's not going to happen. We'll just turn into self-righteousness, trying to manufacture our own morality.
And I thank thee, Lord, that I'm not like that guy kind of thing. We should be weeping. As we tell people This is going to hurt you. This is going to to to to destroy you. Are we trying to be faithful witnesses or are merely inoffensive neighbours?
Do we want to look the other way? We're going to call something out. You know, what what keeps Christians silent? when they know something is wrong. And what would faithful, courageous pushback actually look like?
These are questions I think that are worth pondering for us as Christians as we enter into this election cycle. There are people all over the country that listen to this program. And so I'm asking you the question: I'm not going to tell you how to vote, I'm not going to tell you what to do, I'm just going to tell you what these people are saying. You know, these are their words, not mine. But let's go to the only words that matter, and that's the word of God.
And what how would he have you vote? How would he have you financially support a candidate? How would he have you financially get involved in your community or with your time? How would what would you say? You ever thought about that?
If you had 10 minutes with one of these people, what would you say to them? Would you be prepared? If you could To have five minutes with the President of the United States, what would you say to him? Trump's certainly not Batting a thousand here. What would you say to him?
And I don't look to Trump as a theologian. He's the one that was out there and I'm grateful that Franklin Graham corrected him on this and they and Trump released what the letter that Franklin Graham wrote him because Trump was out there saying that if he if he does some good things, he'll get to go to heaven. That's that whole workspace Doctrine that is not compatible with scripture. The only Covenant of works, there is the works of Christ. We are saved by works, but not our work.
It's saved by His work. and Franklin Graham corrected the record for that for the President. To say no, Mr. President, that is not. How one goes to heaven.
It is through the righteousness of Christ and the blood of Christ exclusively. And that is offensive to a lot of people in this country now. of people in leadership, people running for high office, because ultimately what we don't want as a as a species is we do not want to have to deal with a holy God. Because we are not holy. And a holy God exposes that in us.
And we don't want to deal with that. But as Christians we're called to be a holy people. And it's got to be offensive to people. Are you prepared for that? Are you prepared to stand up for that?
Do you know how to defend it? Have you studied your Scriptures? Do you know what to say? Are you are you ready for this? These are questions I would ask you to to seriously ponder.
And I think that it's going to be asked of us. More and more and more and more and more. And as long as we keep looking the other way or saying, well, okay, well, listen, that's none of my business. But our business Is to share the gospel. And it's hard to share the good news if you don't first share the bad news.
You can't preach grace without first preaching the need for it. Why do we need grace? if we're good people. Are we good people? Are we good enough?
We may do good things. We may have common grace and and good civil behaviour. Is that what it takes to get into heaven? The President thought so until he got corrected. I don't know if it Sunk in?
That's between God and the president. But if he's going to say it, then some of those pastors around him that are enjoying the spotlight have a responsibility to push back on him, and they did. and I am very grateful that Franklin did that. Are we prepared to say those things? Because the time is coming I don't think we're going to be able to hide in the margins.
And we need to be ready. And the first thing you do is Crack open your Bible. Start reading. Pay attention. Study.
