I'm Dwayne Carson and welcome to Truth Talk Live, where today we are going to be discussing things you can be doing 10 days from now. to help make Christ known through um Through people coming to your house and saying trick-or-treat, and you're going to give them an incredible treat. And in a few moments, we're going to have Terry Squires on, and she's going to be telling us about a packet that you can be giving when people come to your door and they want a. Treat, a treat, not a trick, a treat.

Now today is, today is October the 21st. And on this great 10-21 day, we have a phenomenal Bible verse, Deuteronomy 10, 21. He is your praise, and He is your God who has done for you these great and awesome things which your eyes have seen. Deuteronomy 10, 21 tells us about a great and awesome God. And how we think about God determines how we pray.
How we think about God determines how we live. How we think about God determines the type of faith we're going to have. If we're going to have faith, it's got to be put into someone. That has great character, and our God is faithful, and He is a God that is great and does awesome things.
So that's our verse for today. It comes from Date the Word. And with today's show, I'm going to throw out Final Numbers They serve as a code. A code has to be deciphered. Now on the phone, we have Terry Squires. And Terry, we want to welcome you to Truth Talk Live today. We're headed to Halloween. And some people, they don't even celebrate Halloween. I understand that.
But then there are others who want to take advantage of Halloween as a way of sharing the gospel and I hear you have an awesome way for people to really impact children with what's called ancient heroes.
So welcome. Tell us a little bit about you, Terry, and then we're going to talk about these ancient heroes of yours.
Well thank you. Thank you, Duane. It's so great to be back on the show. I am so excited. You know, I used to be one of those people that would shut my light off at Halloween.
But then I turn it on. We're called to be. light in the world and the and in a world of darkness.
So I turn on my light and I give God's word out. with the ancient heroes of the Bible trading cards. to the kids and they screech. with excitement when they leave my door.
So It's a fun night. And I love giving out God's word to Uh of the kids.
Well, tell us First off, Uh you have Ancient Heroes. Of the Bible, of the Bible.
So, for a listener out there who's never heard of Terry Squires. Uh you've read uh quite a few books. But this is your passion right now because we're 10 days away from Halloween. I know, and if you miss Halloween, they're also great for stocking stuffers and Christmas, but The ancient heroes of the trade uh Bible trading cards are forty-eight Collectible Grading cards. and foil patch just sold like baseball cards or football cards.
And we selected 45 characters of the Old Testament. I'm right in the middle of creating new cards of the New Testament and the life of Jesus, but these. These focus on 45 different characters. Abraham, Moses, Gideon, David, Elijah, and Deborah, and then all the characters that relate to them. And on the back of the cards, Shares the story, but it always points to Jesus.
I always have questions. And one of the cards has a QART Scan on it, and it'll take you to the website, and it'll take the kids. through Genesis, through through Revelation, all the intros of the the Bible. And then there's a trivia. a game and then we just started The ancient heroes of the Bible Bedtime podcast, which is a five-minute before you close your eyes, talking about God's heroes And how they relate to us today.
So it's been a lot of fun. We're excited to see God take a hold of this and just grow it and touch the lives of. our kids because our generation, our new generation, they need it. Our world needs it. I've got one of your packets right here in front of me.
And uh It's about Gideon. And it's also about Moses.
So there's different biblical characters in a packet, and the way you described it. is how I remember uh going into different stores and and and and you could buy bubble gum. That had baseball cards in it or football cards in it, and you open it up to see which. Baseball player, you got. And as I was growing up, I always wanted to get cards with the Dodgers.
I was hoping to get Steve Garvey or Bill Russell. Um Ron Say, we called him the penguin. Um not long ago, maybe a year ago, uh somebody gave me a card of Freddie Freeman as a Dodger and Shohei Otani, and I thought, you're giving these to me? Um you don't understand how valuable they are. more valuable.
than a baseball trading card. You've put together biblical characters where a child can be reading, learning about, parents can share this with their children. We're going to come back. We're going to learn more about this because this is a great tool, not just for Halloween, but for any moment where a parent can train their child about biblical characters. Well, welcome back to Truth Talk Live. I'm Dwayne Carson. It's my joy to be your host today as we are now talking about getting ready for October the 31st, that's Reformation Day, but it's also Halloween, and many, many, many, many kids look forward to this day because they go trick-or-treating. And. I've even done some trick-or-treating today here at the Truth Network and I've got some candy, I've got a Kit Kat, and I've got a Mr.
Gut Bar, I've got a Hershey's Milk Chocolate Snickers. A twix. Races Peanut butter What's your favorite? You know, we got to get the candy. We got to get these candy bars ready to give.
But more importantly, as Christians, Terry Squires is telling us today Let's be a light in the darkness. Let's use the opportunity. to share the gospel, to share biblical truth with children. And she has a thing called Ancient heroes. These are cards, just like you would get a baseball card.
And Terry, as we went to a break, more important than a baseball trading card with some picture of a baseball player with his stats, you've put together. Uh forty. Five Old Testament, if I've got you right, biblical characters. that you tell things about. Yes.
And then we have three extra cards in it. Uh that point to the Bible and to the the warfare trivia game and then the checklist. We have a checklist like all the other trading cards, but they're very comic style. You wouldn't really know what they were until you really started reading them. I wanted to.
the artwork to be very dynamic and And so I wanted it to really capture the heart of Kids. Teens are collecting them. We even have adults collecting them. And It's To get the kids back into the Word of God.
So each card has the character picture of the story. And then on the back, I tell the story, but then there's always questions at the end. That, how does this relate to your life? For instance, you know, Abraham lies about his wife Sarah twice. And what happens when we are honest and if we tell a lie And, or, for instance, there's one of Sarah and how she took control and ran ahead of God to have a son.
Through Hagar. What we can do when we run ahead of God and we mess up and we make. you know, situations chaotic.
So that relates to our lives today also. Elect That's again, it goes back with the trading cards and everything that we're doing with the ancient heroes with the Telling of the stories of the Bible. The podcast. And the podcast is a five-minute bedtime podcast before you close your eyes.
So it's a very short little podcast. podcast, but I wanted to make sure that the parents could help their kids know God's word and their truth for their life because A lot of things out in the world are pulling them away. and we need to get them back into truth.
Well, I love this idea of the podcast. Um Stuve Epperson. uh turned me on to this idea of Bible Before Breakfast. I like to call it Bible at breakfast. I want to multitask, but Bible before bed.
And Deuteronomy chapter 11, verse 19 says, Teach them to your children. Verse 18 speaks about God's word. Teach them to your children. Talk about them when you're at your home, when you're on the road, when you're going to bed, and when you get up.
Well, here we have Deuteronomy 11:19, which by the way is the verse I use for 11:19 with Date the Word. I want people to be getting in God's Word in the morning and before they go to bed. And you've got a way that they can not only have a card and read some things, they can listen to a podcast.
Now, I'm looking at your cards. I see great artwork. I've got right now Gideon and his army where they've been brought to the river. They got to make a decision. Will they lap the water like a dog?
Or are they going to just lay down and not have their eyes where they can see anything? You've done this, it is just great artwork.
Now, I see it. But our listeners, how can they see what you have done? And how can they get these cards?

We created an ancient map of Israel with all the stars on it. And you can hit the One of the stars, and it'll pop up, and it'll have a little trivia question about all the characters.
In this first set. And So and we have samples of the cards too. We have them available in the foil packs, but a lot of the Customers and a lot of our friends want the complete set, and we sell them differently. If in the complete sets or in foil packs, And so they they have a variety of ways that they can we offer to A friend. who are looking for the ancient heroes.

That will be our next complete. that but that won't be coming out until next year but um So that is just really opening up the doors that we can continue sharing.

Uh I just want to ask you which Biblical character really has had an impact on your personal life.
Well, you know I love all the characters of the Bible because God uses them, flaws and all. And it's interesting that you're talking about Deuteronomy because I just finished the book and I love Moses. And everything that he went through and But of course, you know my favorite Bible Hero Savior is the Lord Jesus Christ. When I created the Ancient Heroes, I made sure that every single card. points to him because His story.
is pulled from the beginning of Genesis. All the way to Revelation. Every single book of the Bible points to him. And I love how God chooses these characters. We all have flaws.
We all have a story. But if we walk with him, if we are faithful and we put our trust in him, he's going to lead us In his word and in his truth and in our lives. And that's what I love about all these characters because they all have. Made mistakes. Just like all of us.
That is so beautiful. And and I'm I'm just gonna let you it just resonates with me. That you want more than just get to know a guy named David, get to know a guy named Abraham. Uh Get to know through them. The Lord Jesus Christ.
I was a student at Criswell Bible College back in 1983, quite a few years ago, and a pastor came to speak in our chapel. His name, Dr. Adrian Rogers, pastor of Bellevue Baptist in Memphis, Tennessee. Terry, I had never heard him preach. And so he gets into the pulpit and he says.
Take your hymn book. Take your hymn book? Take your hymn book this morning. And I'm like. Take your hymn book.
Now, our chapel was in the sanctuary of First Baptist Dallas. And it's like, do we reach there? In the pew rack and get the hymn book, and then he held up his Bible. He says, I'm speaking about your Bible, men, because this is a book that's all about him. What you just said, Terry, from Genesis to Revelation, it's all about him.
And so every story. Is pointing us to a Savior who loved sinners so much that He died on the cross for us and had. Halloween is such a great time to let people know that, to have gospel tracts, to have these ancient heroes trading cards that you can put in someone's bag. And because of what you've done, there's just no telling how this could change not just their life, but change their eternity. And we're going to give this several more times, but folks listening, it's ancient.

going to happen. I think that's so important. I want somebody to listen. It only takes one person to change the course of a life, and that's been my whole ministry, the power of one. You're unique and created by God, and you have a call on your life.
And just by sharing Jesus. one person, no matter if that's a smile or a It could be a trading card. It could be just. God's word. can change the course of somebody's life.
I love that you mentioned that. Yes. A twelve year old girl. invited me to church when I was 20. And I'm going to say it this way.
I was very lost. Words that would be used of me from eighteen until in my twenties. was more than ungodly. More than unrighteous. I was doing things that were wicked.
And This 12-year-old girl had a boldness Uh I think her family uh had me on a prayer list.
So when they had their Nightly devotions. They prayed for people, and I am pretty sure they were praying for my salvation. And this twelve-year-old girl. Uh her name's Tammy. Uh came up to me and uh Kmart Store.
and uh she said, I wish you would come to church. And that changed my life. And so, just as a testimony, what you just, one person. Can make all the difference. That one invite.
And we need to be, again, intentional with that thinking that You just don't know how God's going to use you, but you got to be. an intentional And make that That boldness. You got to break the ice. You got to say hello to someone. Again, you may have a question for Terry about these ancient heroes.

You know, I have been taking this time. in my own personal study to go through the word of God. Um like I just said, I just finished Deuterotomy. And I And going back to our previous conversation, Um Is that everything points to the Lord. in all the prophecies and the prophets And just His love for us, you know, God's love that he would sent his son to sacrifice His one and only begotten Son for us, so that we could have eternal life.
With creating his cards, we are just now starting. And I'm very very Careful with the way I handle God's word. And I did want to. listeners to know that if you pill All the images off those cards, and we layer things on those cards. I told the artist, I said, I want the word Yahweh and Yeshua.
and every single card. No, the person who's getting the cards doesn't see that, but I know it's there on every single card because I wanted them to point to the Lord.
Well, I'm looking at it and I read that. in a bio about this But I you're right, I can't see it, but that's so cool. I mean, everything you're seeking to do. Is about him. This isn't something.
uh about Terry Squires. You're trying to get people to get to know God And um Make him known. Yes, I want him. Like if you go to our website You won't find a bio of me. You won't find anything about me.
Yeah.
on air You're right. It's all about. Giving him glory. getting his word out. And Getting his truth out because we're living in a world of darkness.
Like I said from the very beginning, we need to. Flip on your lights. In this darkness, And share his word because our kids, our teens. are being bombarded by our society and lies The lies are unbelievable. what are being told to our kids.

And um I couldn't help as I'm thinking about today's date, today's verse. That's what you're doing. You're the lips of the righteous. And it's more than feeding on Halloween candy. I don't know what everyone's looking forward to.
I've always looked forward to that. Butterfinger. That's a really good idea. Good. tasting candy bar, but uh you're talking about feeding them the word of God.
A man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord. Tell us some more about, I want to hear about this bedtime podcast. How did this come about?
Well, you know, one of our friends, I have a television show too. I don't know if you knew about that, here in Nashville, Tennessee. And one of our friends that I interviewed gave me the idea. He he does a a nighttime podcast And I wanted to I started thinking about that. And I thought, what about five minutes before you close your eyes?
So I'm taking each single card that we create. Telling a story. Of the character.
So I'm on Abraham right now. I just started it about a month ago. And Talking about his situation, his story, and how God leads him to a different. Yeah.
And his Faithfulness, he just did it. He didn't question God, he just moved. And Would you do that? And so I talk about his story, but then I talk about a minute or two about Where is God leading you? Are you going to step out in faith?
And so it's just a quick five minute bedtime podcast. Before you close your eyes, to think about God's word, how He chooses. Ordinary people to do extraordinary things to reach the world. And he's choosing you to. And I want them to know that they are loved.
That God loves them, sees them, knows them before they close their eyes at night. I uh I've gone to the website, folks. Uh ancient Heroes of the Bible.com. It's one of those, it's a little long, so you got to write each word: ancientheroesofthebible.com. And I'm looking right now at the different podcasts and the one you just spoke about.
I'm looking right at it. Abraham's call, where is God taking you? And just tying it into my ministry, Terry, of. Of uh date the word when we get into November, um, I look at Hebrews 11 quite a bit and uh That verse on Abraham, he went. Not knowing where he was going.
Oh my. And I used that verse in that podcast. And his face. and him being called. He didn't hesitate, he just did it.
There was a time when I felt God was calling us to make a move. And My children. They um They did not know what to expect. And I said, um, I have to be very honest with you. This is going to be one of those Abraham moments for us.
We're going to make a move, and I cannot tell you how it's going to look. Um It's going to be we've got to trust God. That even though we don't know what we're going to be doing exactly where we're going, he has said, I want you to go. And um I I didn't have your podcast to share with them. But listeners, there's now a podcast that when God's calling you to do something and you're just, well, I don't know how to explain it.
You can be going to Terry Squire's Ancient Heroes of the Bible and sharing that podcast with them. But again, the beauty of it. You're sowing seeds. If we're taking Stu Epperson's mindset from Deuteronomy chapter 11, 18 and 19, Bible before breakfast. Bible before bed.
You're putting God's word in children's minds, and it will not return void. I'm loving how God has led you to do this. Tell these parents again why they really ought to be doing this, Terry.
Well, I just believe, you know, we're living in. Crazy chaos times. And if we don't root our children in God's word, The world is going to grab them. And we need to protect them. and let them know that they are loved.
by the Lord and that there is a future and a hope for them And let the Lord guide them in everything that they do. that they can Go out. and reach more people and reach more for the Lord. And it it all goes back To God's word and his truth for our lives, because we are living in a world. that is just full of lies.
And Satan is attacking our kids. And this is the time to stand up and get them back rooted. into into God's word. As now a grandfather, Um I go back to my days as a parent when I got saved and then would get married, become a parent, four children. I did not I just did not know how to do it, of what you're talking about.
And, um, And I had to get into the book of Deuteronomy. That's the book you've been talking about. And Deuteronomy six. Deuteronomy 11. I I learned a principle.
That I wasn't supposed to just be reading God's word for myself. I was supposed to be reading it for others, especially reading it for my children. And just not long ago, I was teaching up at Liberty University as a guest lecturer. And I said that to these students, I said, many times you come to God's Word and you're reading it, and you may not be getting something out of it for that very moment.
Now a wise person is going to be storing up. Wisdom for future use. But many times you're reading God's Word. And if you've got a mindset, Lord, I'm not really understanding how this fits for me today, but help my mind to be ready that this may be for someone else. And I've had testimony after testimony of I read something not for myself, but for others.
And That's why you got it daily. Not weekly, not monthly, surely, not yearly, but daily be getting into God's word and uh uh Well, I know what it Stress to that I I would never want the cards to take away from the Bible. because I think that's so important. But I want the parents to know and the grandparents is this is just a way to get them excited. about Oh, I want to learn more about Abraham because We do not tell the whole story of the cards.
And, but it's a great way just to get them excited about God's Word and to get into the Bible. You're you're so right, Wayne, when you're saying it's not a yearly thing or a monthly. You you just really need to make time daily. And to read and And study. and study his word.
Yes, ma'am, absolutely.
