Welcome to Truth Talk Live. All right, let's talk the truth news. I can't hide it. I can hold it in some more. A daily program powered by the Truth Network.
This is kind of a great thing, and I'll tell you what. Where pop culture, current events, and theology all come together. Speak your mind. And now, here's today's Truth Talk Live host. What must I do?
to be saved. One of the greatest questions Really? we could ever ask, or could be asked of us. I mean, how cool would it be if somebody walked up to you in a few minutes and asked you that question What must I Do to be saved.
Now, recently, our president, President Trump, Um Was responding to a question, and he gave the answer we're going to play here in a second. But I'm wondering for you. Like as you listen to his response, does this indicate Perhaps a misunderstanding? Or do you think it was just a lot of social buzz? I would love to know your thoughts.
We're going to play this clip and then you call us 866-348-7884. 866-348-7884. I got my good friend Dr. Date the word Carson in here. It was certainly his take on this particular sound bite that we need to do a show on this.
And so let's listen. If I can save 7,000 people a week from being killed. I think that's a pretty I want to try and get to heaven if possible. I I'm hearing I'm not doing well. I hear I'm not doing well.
What are your thoughts about that clip? What must I do to be saved? Eight, six, six, three, four, eight, seven, eight, eight, four. What a That indicate the President's understanding may be 8663487884, Doc. It's even on your app.
Yes. It's on the date the word app. What must I do to be saved? It's kind of like. This is the, as you say it, the most important question.
You cannot, you just absolutely cannot be wrong with this one. The Apostle Paul gets asked By a Roman jailer, sirs, what must we do to be saved? And then. Can you imagine at that moment I'm not sure? No, he immediately comes back and he said, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.
And we can know that we're saved. And 1 John 5, 13, these things I've written unto you, that you may know that you have eternal life. There is a Hope. I don't want people to have. Does that make sense, Robbie?
There's a hope. I don't want people to have no person shall uh should ever Hope they're going to be going to heaven. That is so scary to me. And I was there. If you'd asked me 50 years ago, do you think you'll be going to heaven?
I hope so. I think I could have given almost the same answer the President did. I'm hoping that I can have some good works to outweigh my bad works. I hear I'm not doing too well, but I hope And then all of a sudden I find out that uh not all of a sudden. After a few years I found out that I could know without a shadow of doubt.
By calling on the Lord Jesus. Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. And this is a question we've got to get the right answer to. Blessed assurance, right? Saying that yesterday in church.
It's what it is. It's a blessed assurance. And so maybe don't fall down on that, that you can know. Maybe you feel some way out. We would love, right?
That's what we do. We talk here on a talk show, and we need to have a discussion.
So you got to call us with your thoughts, what your thoughts were about what the president said. Did a lot get made out of that for nothing? I mean, clearly, social media had a heyday with it. 866-3487884. 866-3487884.
I can assure you. um up until my mid thirties. I would have been completely convinced because we are living a transactional world. Right? In order for you to like me in so many w respects, I thought I had to perform.
Mm. I needed my good works to outweigh my bad works before you would even like me.
So I'm sure God works that way. Because clearly My teachers thought I had the cap. Certain grades in order to to pass. I mean, it's just what I learned. Even Santa.
Wait, even Santa. Like, if I didn't if I didn't perform, if I pouted, you know, if you know, I had to watch out. For goodness sakes. You know, then coal for you, Robbie. I mean, that was the deal, right?
It's a performance, we're brought up that way, and every ounce. uh of what I would have assumed was the case. was based on my performance. And so if I got a chance to make peace treaties, I mean, it's gotta it's gotta be. Yeah.
Did the president, as he said this, in his heart, his thinking is. I I I'll get good rewards. But but the way he said it, kinda came across I'm still working for my salvation. I'm hoping I can do some things that will cause the quote man upstairs. To want to have me in and spend time in his house.
There you go. We got Courtney is in Jacksonville, Florida. Courtney, you're on. True talk live. Hi.
Hi, yes. I really like the subject that you brought up about Trump. And it just really reminds me, and I have a question. I was talking to my mother-in-law yesterday. And we made a joke about my daughter's short being a little too short.
And I said, well I remember seeing a picture of you when you had Daisy Duke going to the disco in the seventies and she said, Well, that was before I was saved. And I said, so do you think that You can't be saved if you Wear disco shorts anymore? And she goes, Well, you shouldn't be wearing disco shorts and it was kind of left at that. I I said, well I don't understand. And she's like, well, you can't keep wearing disco shorts after you're saved.
They're not saved anymore. then you weren't really saved. And my I just I'm just not sure about that. I wanted to see what you thought. I think that That We see that so much in a lot of circles.
And a lot of people, I'm surprised, haven't called in already. Because there are certain denominations that you work out your salvation with fear and trembling, and that there are certain things that they feel like you've got to continue to do. That kind of goes against the g the grain, doesn't it? It doesn't feel all that good, does it, Courtney? Doesn't it seem like you got to continue to perform to get to heaven?
Yeah. And that wasn't part of what Paul said. And honestly, it wasn't what... Jesus said. Yeah.
The legalism tied to the salvation.
Now, when Christ comes in, He changes our heart, and so maybe there's a component. Because I grew up with the Dukes of Hazards, and I know a little bit about having. the Daisy Shorts uh idea. Uh Yet modesty kicks in.
So, part of the sanctification part process, how I dress, how I present myself. From a lady standpoint, for me, one of the big cleanups was my language. If I'm going to just keep cussing after I got saved, that becomes an indicator maybe I didn't get the change of heart. But with the change of heart, comes a change toward my communication that's going to happen over time. It doesn't happen immediately.
But we do know that when a person gets saved, 2 Corinthians 5:17, all things have become new, they're going to live a different life.
So there's going to be something different. But when you start tying it to uh a person's well If you didn't go to church every Sunday, you're now no longer saved because if you got saved, you'd be in church every time the doors are open. And I did hear that one time. Wow. I can't ever miss church again or else I'm not going to continue to be saved.
I'm not sure that's how salvation works. Courtney, I am so, so, so grateful for your call because I know it gets to the heart of what a lot of people are thinking, and I hope they'll call too. Can you stay on with us through the break? Yeah, sure, thanks. That would be wonderful, Courtney.
And how about you? 866-348-7884. We'd love your view. Call us. We'll be right back.
Truth. Welcome back to True Talk Live. Today's question. based on a soundbite from President Trump. from last week is what What must I do?
to be saved. And we're so blessed to have with us Courtney is in Jacksonville, Florida, and she brought the wonderful question. Absolutely she had this discussion. Was it your mother or your grandmother that you were talking to, Courtney? It was my mother-in-law.
Your mother-in-law?
Okay. About. you know, say essentially short shorts, you know, from the seventies. And, you know, if somebody continued to wear that kind of clothing, is it an indication that perhaps, uh, you know, they weren't originally saved or that They were continued to be saved, however, that works. But I do, there's this verse.
That I think completely speaks, or a couple of verses that Doctor Date, the word Carson, is an expert at this kind of thing.
So hit us with Ephesians 2.
Well, Ephesians 2, as Paul is explaining how a dead person comes to life, he says, For by grace are you saved, that not of yourself.
Well that's huge right there. For by grace are you saved, By faith. That, not of yourself, not of works. Verse nine. lest any man should boast, And uh I've written down for my own life, but given to I don't know how many people works don't Work.
Mm. If you think you can do anything to earn salvation, you have been misled by the devil. There is nothing any person can do. I can't bring to him anything. anything at all.
He paid it all. What does that mean he paid it all?
Well, he paid it all except for some of the works I'll need to do. Yeah. So there's Philippians chapter 2, verse 13 does say, work out your salvation. It didn't say work in your salvation. It says work out.
Christ does the work in us now. What he's done in us begins to come. Out of us, and that's the sanctification process where we begin to now, okay, how does a Christian conduct themselves? And Titus will talk about certain things that women do. He will talk about certain things that men will do.
And all of a sudden, We have a change in behavior. The change in belief that brought about the salvation now brings about a change in behavior. Right. And I there's two other things, Courtney, that I would like to You know, that I love to think about myself actually, just really helps me personally is that it. The That salvation is the gift of God.
So if if How do you get a gift? for works. How do you you didn't earn it, so how could it be a gift?
So even if it's a gift From not doing bad, that you know, you know, it's just like Santa. If you didn't pout and whatever, then you got a gift.
Well, that. That really isn't a gift, is it? No. But what if That's it for me. You can't earn it.
I understand that. And it's a free gift. But what if you've taken that gift and now you're wearing Daisy Dukes all over the place? I'm just using Daisy Dukes as an example. Sure.
Because that was my meaning.
Now you're wearing Daisy Dukes. Can you do something to get it taken away? It gets taken away by your actions. It says nothing can separate us from the love of God. you know, and when it says nothing I mean, that in Greek, Hebrew, however, nothing means that means Daisy Dukes.
It means a lot of things that we are overcome by sin at times. And we allow that in our life and part of our sanctification process undoubtedly.
Okay? Because if gluttony was one I mean, let's just be real. Like You know, last night, man, I could not let go of stuff that I knew I shouldn't be eating. And it wasn't sinful food, it was peanuts, but I couldn't stop eating it. I was like, and I knew.
Right? But I didn't have control over it right that second.
Now, does that mean? No. It means that. In my heart, I want to please that God, all that he did for me. I want him, you know, to be to be able to.
In other words, you have joy when you feel like you're walking with Christ and that kind of stuff. And I want to continue to walk in that joy. But the other thing that I wanted to say that really makes me happy, makes me smile, is I know. Jesus wins. There will not be one person, not one.
that Jesus loves That Satan can pluck out of his hand. It can't be done. Not one. And so I can tell by your voice, Courtney, that you have that sweet. spirit and and Once he loves you, Nothing.
Wright can pluck you out of his hand. And then comes the side, you are his child. And Hebrews says, if you're his child and you disobey, if you're doing something he doesn't want you to do, there's going to be conviction. There's going to be discipline. And that begins to Help us to understand.
I had to ask questions as I started my spiritual journey. Is it okay to do this? Is it okay to do that? And the scriptures were very clear on some things. And then there were some things that We call them that gray area, but if I didn't have what was called the peace of God.
Whatever's not by faith is sin. And so there were some things I just had to say, you know what? I can't be a part of that anymore. I can't say those things. You know, can you tell a Off color joe?
The off-colored joke. I mean, it's just a little. No, that's not. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord.
So the standards begin to be raised on my thinking from Philippians 4:8. But it's not my salvation that I'm dealing with, it's my sanctification. And that's where then 1 John comes in. If we say we have no sin, well, you have lied. And if I confess my sins, Who's he talking to?
He's not talking to an unbeliever. He's talking to the believer. If I confess my sins, he is faithful and just to forgive and cleanse me of all unrighteousness. And so. Again, there's going to be those kind of things.
that We have to work through with the Holy Spirit. Is this acceptable? And then you do, you set your filter. What's going to be my decision maker?
Well, is it pleasing to God? And if he brings a conviction And Courtney, I was campus pastor at Liberty University and dealing with at that time 3,000, 4,000 young ladies. One of the areas that we had to talk about was as a young lady, what will be your standard of modesty? And I would let ladies speak to the ladies about that. I just made it clear that the Bible does speak about modesty.
So back to your on the Daisy Dukes. There's a question. And again, is it okay for a guy to be Let's take this one: screaming at a referee, screaming at an umpire.
Well, at some point As a Christian, I'm not sure I should be behaving that way. Even though I'm not cursing Adam, Um it just It's a behavior that doesn't represent Christianity well.
So again, we're so grateful for your questions. Does that help? Years ago. Thank you so much. Thank you.
I'm so glad you called. And we would love for you to call. And feel free. Like, man, we would love to hear your view on this. 866-348-7884.
866-348-7884. I have to say, Doc, that I had one of the dearest saints I have ever known in my life who had more fruit in her life than almost anybody that you see, where she worked in so many people's. Her name was Miss Beck. She lived to be 104. But she firmly believed you could.
I mean, she didn't, and we had many discussions on this: that you could lose your. That was part of how she'd been. raised in an old Wesleyan style church where they had that that set of beliefs and um And she was very convicted on it, although Interestingly, When we really got down to and she knew her scripture like you did, buddy. I mean, she she could quote stuff out of the It says came from nowhere. But often, when we got down to it, we found ourselves at the same place.
Better it. If you are in fact saved. Yeah. Save, but maybe you have a different view. We would love to hear it.
We would. 866-348-7884. We'll hear back from President Trump here right after the break. Get his view on it. Welcome back to Crew Talk Live.
Today's question is what? What? Seriously, huge, gigantic question, what must I do? I do. to be saved Going back to President Trump, let's have a listen real quick.
If I can save 7,000 people a week from being killed. I think that's the pretty I want to try and get to heaven if possible. I I'm hearing I'm not doing well. Eight six six three four eight seven eight eight four. What say you?
We have Teresa. Who is traveling right now?
So, Teresa, you're on Truth Talk Live. Good afternoon. Good afternoon. How are you? I'm awesome.
What have you got for us?
So for me, I just believe that once you confess the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior and believe that He died for our sins and was rose again, you are saved. I believe also in regards to the call that just came. Amen for my own self. I've been saved for over 40 something years now. And the Holy Spirit will the things that I think Is not what you do, but who you are becoming like, and as you become more like Christ.
Things desires fall off of you. I remember when I first. got saved and I asked the gentleman who had me say the sinner's prayer. And I didn't go to church at that time. And I said, Well, am I going to have to stop doing this and stop wearing that?
And he was like, No, you don't have to stop doing it. What happened, you'll stop wanting to do it. Oh, that's true.
So I'm just going to stay. Yeah. So That Daisy Duke girl She's okay, she's saved, but the Lord will start changing her mind and her way of dressing. That's beautiful. I I love the way you put that in many ways, Teresa.
Um Thank you. Add his blessed assurance for sure. And we're grateful for your call very much. S Sadak, what were you doing?
Well, the Holy Spirit's doing the work. That's it. He comes in our life and he starts changing and cleaning up and he changes. I love what you've said, Therese. He changes our want to.
There you go. Beautiful. Thank you so much for your call, Teresa. God bless. God bless you.
Well, thank you. Bye-bye. Bye-bye. 866-348. Seven, don't we would love if you have another view in scriptures?
I have some dear friends. Dear friends. And wonderful theologicals, you know, they love the Lord, and I see their lives and all sorts of fruit. They have different views. And we've talked about them openly.
Fun, right? Like, if we can't talk about something as Christians, we're in trouble. 866-348-7884. 866-348-7884. I love that.
The idea of grace No. Mm. for years and years and years, and even probably the first twenty years I was a Christian. I didn't understand what the word meant. But when you look into the eyes.
That was somebody. that treats you Like you are their favorite. They have faith in you. They accept you. They believe in you.
They love you, even though you haven't done a thing. In fact, you may have performed badly. But yet they look in your eyes and you see We'll see the demoniac In Mark chapter 5, right? He certainly hadn't performed well. He's living in the tombs.
He's got an unclean spirit and a lot going on, breaking chains, etc., etc. But Jesus went all the way over to Pigville. In the middle of a storm. Because he was his favorite. And after he did that, he looked.
That that Man. Got a chance and I just want you to picture this for a second. It's amazing to me Can you imagine having six thousand demons removed from you? and then looking into the eyes of God himself. And he is full of grace.
He is full of grace. Full of grace for you. He loves you, he accepts you, he believes in you, and you haven't done anything. To merit that Of Of course you want to go with him on the other side. Who wouldn't want that?
And so, for any of us, after we've been taken from the state that we were in, which was obviously. decrepit in my own case, on had my own legion, what that may look like, and I got a chance to look in those eyes. No. No. Are you ever gonna spit that out?
Amazing Grace. Right. I think that song was written by a man who. couldn't believe that God could love him. It's so undeserved.
That's the whole idea, unmerited favor. There's nothing we're doing. To get this. And we get into some theological components here on how we're going to get to heaven. And we looked at a verse today out of Job about how can a man be righteous with God?
How can I be righteous with God?
Well, the only way is for... God to give us His righteousness. because anything else is going to come up short. Isaiah gets real strong and says that all of our Righteousness is as filthy rags, and we get into a very um filthy component when we talk about filthy rags. It's it's it's grotesque.
Um We don't have anything we can bring to him that's going to cause him to go, you know what, you're good enough. You're good enough. And that's why, with President Trump's statement, I feel for him. I want him to know: you're right. You are not.
Doing well. If you're looking at anything you have to offer, you will always be coming up short. You're never going to be good enough. But when I put my trust in Jesus Christ, He, the great exchange, He's taken my sins. He now gives me His righteousness.
And when I stand before God, I stand not in my righteousness, but I stand in Christ's righteousness, who was perfect. Which means the boasting can stop. Yeah. The boasting can stop. Because I don't I don't have anything to boast in anyway.
You listen to the first verse of the 119th Psalm. And think about it in these terms. Maybe you hadn't thought about it this way before, but when I got the picture of it, all of a sudden it blew my mind. It says, Blessed are the undefiled in the way. who walk in the law of the Lord.
Okay. What's the way? I am the way. Blessed are the undefiled that walk In the way. Jesus made it clear.
Where are you walking? With Jesus. then you can walk in the law of the Lord. Good luck with that. if you don't walk in the way.
We have Christ living in us, and now He's living. Through us, he comes out of us. It's all about, I hear, you know, we. We just lost one of the great saints, one of the great pastors, John MacArthur, and he always talked about the great statement of all of Christianity is Christ lives in you and you live in Christ. And you can spend decades just trying to comprehend the fact Christ lives in you.
and you live in Christ. But I found out during the break something that I did not know that you got to share with the audience. This will be a nugget that I think we all should have. And so glad you tuned in today just to hear what Dr. Carson is fixing to say were the last words of John MacArthur.
Um well, to set that up as we're facing death. And I have a hope so. That's got to be the scariest thing to think. I I hope when I die now, I'll be going to heaven. No, I want to know.
The moment I closed my eyes, I opened them in glory. And what I was told from John MacArthur's son, he shared, David's last words were. 1 Corinthians 15.55 O death, where is your stain?
Now that's a man that's going from this life Earthly to eternal life. He stepped into glory. His last words are Oh death. Where is your stain? Yeah.
I want to have that on my heart when I'm facing death. I I what a great way to finish life, right? Hey, Death, you've been dogging me all these years, scaring me. And no, I I got something to say to you. Where's your sting?
And it's beautiful what you also said during the break that Abraham, you know, it says he died in a good old age. In other words, today is a good day to die, as Paul would say, right? Yeah. To live as Christ and to die is game. Yeah.
Not because of hope, although hope's a wonderful word. But but an assurance. Right. That you will know. 1 John passage that you will know.
And for those that struggle with is someone saved? I've dealt with Many of people who they would find themselves doubting their salvation. I told him. Go read 1 John. Because here's what 1 John will do for you.
And we go to 5.13, but 5.13 is toward the end of the book. We only got a few more verses in chapter 5.
So you go back to the very beginning and you're reading through 1 John. And what 1 John is going to do is it's going to tell you these are the actions, the behaviors of a true believer. And as you're going through them, and I think we've identified there's at least 12 different marks of the believer. As you're going through, it's going to either convince you that you're saved. Or convict you that you're not saved.
And I literally had it happen one day at Liberty on my floor as an RA where one guy, when he went and read 1 John, he was so, oh, Dwayne, I'm just not sure I'm saved. He comes back about 15 minutes later, maybe 20. He said, I read First John. And I'm okay. I was just having some moments of doubt that I just didn't, I must not have done something right.
That is a powerful thing. You know, Nikita Koloff, who's also a lot of know, is a really, really dear friend of mine. And I have staffed his man camp many times. And I can assure you that next October, you know, in a month, he's going to start again. And to everybody that staffs that camp for the month of October, every single day, you know what you're supposed to do?
Read 1 John. Read 1 John. And because it does a number of things, but one of which obviously is just what you described. It's helped you to Have blessed assurance because you'll know that by chapter five. But the other thing that it does, especially if you're going to some event.
Is it gives you a good concept of how critical to the Christian walk love is? Absolutely. I mean, I don't know of another place where you're going to get five chapters of, look, if you don't love your neighbor, Thank you for playing. That's right. I hate my brother.
Nope, you can't say that. That doesn't work. And John is building all of that off of the The newest commandment that Jesus gave, John 13, 34 and 35. 866-348-7884. What say you?
What must I do to be saved? Critical stuff. We would love to hear your view, your wisdom. I know we got some unbelievable, well-trained listeners. Call us 866-348-7884.
Welcome back to Truth Talk Live. Today's question. What? What must I do? to be saved.
As we talked about earlier, Dr. Date the Word Carson is here with us with his date the word app. And actually there at his app, he has that very, very important question. You know, as people may ask you, Yeah. you have that look on your face of grace and whatever and acceptance and they'll ask you because they know they can trust you with that question.
That's a tough question. And you may be listening today, and you haven't answered that question.
So get the date the word app and open up that tile. because it's going to give you the answer. It's going to tell you some really bad news. That you're a sinner. And then it's going to tell you that there's even worse news than the bad news.
And it's going to tell you that because you're a sinner, you're going to die. Separate it from God, for the wages of sin is death, but then comes some good news. That God sent his son to die for us, and he did die, but God demonstrated his love toward us. And while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. And then he rose again.
And now the news is starting to get really great. We've got a risen Savior, and then the best news of all is you can call on him. And Romans 10:13, Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. And that's the question we're trying to make sure all of you, as listeners, know for sure. If you were to die right now, do you know for sure, like John MacArthur, you know for sure you're going to go to heaven?
You can know so. I like the way some people put it, deep in your knower. Yeah. Do you know deep in your knower? I I was Talking about With it.
I was actually interviewing a Jewish rabbi in Jerusalem this morning, and I love. what he was saying, that all human beings have an inherent ability To see truth.
Okay. And he gave the He was giving me the Hebrew that led up to Delilah. Knowing that Samson had finally told her the truth. And she recognized, in spite of this, this is obviously not a picture of virtue here. Delilah, obviously.
You know, yet she. recognized In that moment That Sampson had told her when he told her it was his hair, She knew. That that was the truth. I I think that that Really is helpful for me to understand how I found myself, where I found myself, where, wow, this is starting to ring true. And I began to trust.
what the Bible was saying. and to believe it as the truth. Because that's it's a gigantic component.
Some people don't believe the Bible is true. Yeah. But ultimately, Jesus is not just the way, he is the truth. you're putting your trust in the truth. The one who can't lie to you.
Well, therein lies the extension of where I was going. Way to go, way to think ahead, Doc. I'm learning your ways. Is that If you can inherently know the truth, And Jesus is is the truth. Then you were meant to You were designed to.
Know it when you see it. And there's something beautiful. about being loved unconditionally. No. Because if you're like me, you know, you know.
Um that you have some inner brokenness, some horrible brokenness. You know I'm the Christian Car guy. A lot of people know that that's my title, although, you know, sometimes it's a bit challenging, right? Because I can tell you right now, Doc, that if I'm on my way home and there's this place on 158 where two lanes come together into one lane to get on Interstate 40. And inherently.
There's always somebody. that will come right up next to me. You know, it's like Satan is just baiting me. And if I speed up, they speed up. If I slow down, they slow down.
And we have to go into that curve where it's going to come into one sitting side by side. And I am not going to be happy, right? And despite his I want Jesus in this moment, I want to walk with Jesus, I want to be with him. But at this point in time, dude, you you have got to stop. Yeah.
But the point I'm making is that, you know, I've not arrived.
So I I need to know that it's not based on my performance. I need to know that it's by grace I was saved, not because I somehow or another am worthy of, you know, I can't imagine. We we don't need to be worried Once we've asked him, that's settled. But that sanctification may need some cleanup.
Okay. Maybe. And that is the beauty, right? Of 1 John 1:9. And I think I've shared this before, but I like to start my day out with a head-to-toe shower and asking God to examine my eyes and ears, my mind, my mouth, even my neck, because the Bible speaks about a person being stiff-necked and my hands, my feet, and then ultimately my heart.
And I want everything to be clean. As I start a day out, I want to start out spiritually clean. Lord, is there anything between me and you? And I forget who said it, probably Dr. Fulwell many times.
It's important for the Christian to keep short sin accounts. And I think he got that from maybe Ian Bounds for you that know these great Christian writers. But Ian Bounds would talk about keep. short sin accounts. And if you'll every day, Lord, examine me.
And and again, there are people that have behaviors who I'm a Christian.
Well, the fruit they're bringing forth It seems to be ungodly.
Well, we'll know them by their fruits. And the Bible says to all of us, examine ourselves to see if we're in the faith. Yeah, I heard it said, and I always try to do this in the morning myself, it's a little different, is that. You know, search my heart and know my thoughts, right? And what I heard it said with that is said, Can you imagine God?
Just imagine him. He's on his throne, and his daughter. climbs up into his lap. and says Daddy, Will you look inside of me? Is there something in my heart that's not pleasing to you?
Is there something in my thoughts that are not pleasing to you? Daddy, please point it out to me because I want to please you.
Okay, and so I take that posture. I'm not a daughter. No, we're not. But I'm his child, and I climb up in his lap with that whole thing, like, Daddy, please. Please look at my thoughts.
Look at my heart. Is there something in me? No. That doesn't please you. Is there something you know, and a lot of times.
He'll just g graciously say yeah, Robbie. this right here. Right, and it'll almost always 99.9% of the time be some relationship issue that I've left on a sour face. Place. That like This is your brother, Robbie.
This is your sister. And God's not in heaven. Hearing you ask that ready to hammer you. He's like a great doctor.
Okay, we've gone in for the examination. and they're going to point out things that need to be changed. I've got a great physician. And uh she and a dentist. Yes.
And they want what's best for me. Inside joke. I'm sorry. I knew he was at the dentist earlier today. Yes, and I'm a great dentist, and she wants what's best for me.
And so when I say something's not doesn't seem to be right. Can you examine That's that's what God We want God to do for us. Point out those things that are going to bring about the decay, those things that are going to erode away our living, and get those things out so that we can live spiritually healthy. But it's got to be a willingness to say, God, examine me. Yeah, and you know, it's fascinating to me.
You said it earlier, and it's so beautiful. The wages of sin are death. Right? When you think about it, let's go back to the Christian car guy sitting there with Road Rage, all right? I mean, I'm just calling it as it's, you know, so at this point in time.
Jesus is not taking the wheel. And I am separated from God. And so, as it is, I'm not really enjoying the ride. I that I am dead. I you know, tha compared to having life and life abundant, that that you weren't in the car with that.
Yeah. There's no surrender of the wheel there. I'm hearing.
Well, it is. I mean, I understand all that. I mean, I do. But your heart is a completely different place than your mind. I'm just saying that when all that stuff goes down, now.
Now, Robbie. When I had started my spiritual journey, I'd go fishing and before I was saved, boy, if a fish got off. I had some words for that fish. And so I caught a really nice fish and It it broke my line. And the temptation was there.
And so I shared this. in a church service at Liberty. I can't tell you. how great the temptation was for me to curse that catfish out. But I didn't.
The temptation wasn't sin. I was tempted, but I didn't act on it. And I had a number of students say, you know, that's one of the best illustrations I've ever heard because, yeah, we are tempted. And I felt it. I was upset.
I can't believe this has happened, but I don't have to go to the level of now sinning. Resist the temptation. Submit to God. and let the Holy Spirit guide you. And we can live differently.
Um But it all comes back to one question. What must I do to be saved? And today, to be able to do it. Yeah, are you really hooked? Call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
and he will save you. Thank you for listening. That's so much fun today. I I appreciate this show and opportunity to share with you, and your calls are all wonderful. Of course, we'll be back tomorrow with a whole lot more Truth Talk Live.
I hope you have an amazing evening.
