Welcome to Truth Talk Live. All right, let's talk the truth news. I can't hide it. I can hold it in some. A daily program powered by the Truth Network.
This is kind of a great thing, and I'll tell you what. Where pop culture, current events, and theology all come together. Speak your mind. And now, here's today's Truth Talk Live host. Crossroads, kids, class.
Clubs. They're helping churches to bring the gospel into public schools. Did you know that? Seriously, they're bringing the gospel into public schools. The crossroads, did you get the cross part of crossroads?
Okay, just point it out. But let me ask you this. As you're listening today, think about it. When you think back to your own school days, and for some of us, it was a lot of years ago, but when you think back to your own school days, was there a teacher? or a coach, or maybe a janitor or a lunch lady.
You know, someone in that school That helped you or even pointed you to Jesus? And how did that happen? You know, since most people that come to Christ come to Christ during their school age years, you know, how impactful is that? And how impactful was it on your life? Or you got a story along these lines?
We would love to hear it. You got to call us. Seriously, I would love to hear your story. 866-348-7884. 866-348-7884 is the number to call.
Oh, and I'd love to hear from you. We have today, we're a very special guest.
So excited to have Jasmine Hyatt. She is the Piedmont Triad Coordinator for Crossroads Kids' Clubs. And wow. If you think about the statistics of this, it's amazing. that 91% of American children attend a public school.
Okay, and when you think about the public schools Local churches outnumber public schools three to one. In other words, if every church would take part in reaching out to their public school. Right? You would have three churches to come alongside to help Christ. Crossroads kids' clubs, or something along those lines, to bring the gospel into that school.
You may not think that's possible, but Crossroads Kids' Clubs does. And so, Jasmine, you're the Triad coordinator. What exactly? How does that work? How can the world can they take The gospel into a public school.
I thought it was church and state. You know, what does that mean?
Well, thanks for having me on here today. Um, so I am, as you said, the Piedmont Triad coordinator.
So I work with loc local churches in Piedmont Triad and if they're Uh I helped them sponsor a club at an elementary public school and we get to teach kids the gospel after school. Um a a Bible and we a Bible led club. Fun. And so, right, you have these clubs, and you help. Crossroads helps get the curriculum together.
They help get the club coordinated. In other words, if your church wants to be involved in this, it's really, really cool because they can do a club. And when the kids are the ones doing the club, then it can happen. And not only that, we can get people to call in at 866-348-7884 and tell us how that impacted your life.
So we had an old friend, Miss Jay, is calling in. And if anybody has an impact, how about a school bus driver, Miss Jay? What about that? Are you with us, Ms. Jay?
Hello, Miss J. Have you got the pod on the Okay, you might want to All right, we've got a little trouble with Miss J. If she'll hang on for a minute. You got her. Are you here, Miss Jay?
There, I hear you. Can you hear me now? Can you hear me? I do.
So if anybody, when I think about Miss Jay, I think about school buses. I hadn't thought about somebody on a school bus, but I know you are involved in that all the time. Yes, yes, yes. How are you? I am wonderful.
So what does that bring up in your mind, Miss Jay? Oh my God. There was a teacher called mister Lawson. Oh, wow. He was such a profound oh my God, example of what love is, what God would have to love.
So, my mom worked all the time, and we hardly ever saw her. And every time we did, he was the teacher. Back then, the teacher did everything. He was the one that math, English, everything. And if you had to do a performance, you got to, you know, he directed plays.
And so, I was in a play. And there was something called, do you remember the song called When You Walk Through the Dark, Hold Your Head? Oh, yes, from the Showtune from Carousel. Yes.
So we were singing that song, and it was the first time I was ever involved in anything because I was so shy and timid. And my mom told me for, she said, I'm gonna be there. I'm gonna be there. And she never showed up. And by the time we were getting ready to sing, and I was one of the ones in the back because I was taller.
Um and I was gonna step back and just My heart was so broken. And he looked at me and he said, No, it's gonna be okay. I'm here with you. And he just encouraged me so much at that time. And he said, You're going to be okay.
He said, I want you to sing this song like we practice it, and your mom's going to be so proud of you, whether she's out there or not.
So it made such a Yeah. expression that's in my life and um it taught me to go a little bit further also.
So even though my mom wasn't out there and all that teacher, Mr. Lawson showed me that much love. He never taught Christ, but now looking back on him, I know he must have had the love of God in him for real. I love that that stuck in your mind like that, Miss Jay. I do.
I do, because I. Those Acts of kindness, clearly they come from God. There's something He saw the moment and He captured it for you, and He saw your heart. And you've never forgotten it. And you know, it's fascinating as you bring that up.
I can't help but relate a very similar moment that, you know, as you might imagine, if you've ever seen me, I'm six foot five, but I became six foot five in the sixth grade.
Okay. And so at that point in time, I weighed about 135 pounds. And so I could not, and I have little bitty feet. I have size 11 feet on a, you know, size 12 or 14 inch body, whatever. And so I would trip and fall all over the basketball court.
And I had this coach. And I you know, I was never really very good and they f I couldn't get in the game. Finally they got me in the game and I was tripping and falling all over everybody. They fouled me out in about three minutes. And I must add this look like, man, I finally get to play.
And then I foul out. And this coach, I'll never, ever forget. Just like you, I'll never forget it. He put his arm around me and he said, Robbie, man, nobody plays harder than you. And he said, Look at your arm.
And he just encouraged me in a way like you that I've never forgotten. And it tells you, right? that a child's heart Is so impressionable by somebody that just cares in the moment when they're really. feeling dejected. Yeah.
You know, you but you gotta be present to win. My daughter and I also planted that seed in my daughter.
Well, I had a used to used to have a group called Dance of Love, and we did a performance on we did a Dance of Love at our one of our family reunions, and she messed up and she sat there and she just flopped down. And I remembered what my teacher had done for me. And I went back out there on there and told her, You can get back up. Get back up, sweetie. Rush this off.
And I asked him to play start the music back over again. And she she continued and she finished. Oh, that's a good idea. It doesn't matter. I am so grateful for your call today, Ms.
Jay, and for your work on the school bus, which I know you've been encouraging kids for centuries. And we're grateful for that. Have a great day, my friend. God bless. You too.
Bye bye.
So what about you? You know, was there somebody that came alongside you that gave you that? You know, when you're a school age, you're very impressionable. And, you know, when you finally get a chance to. Get out there and try.
It doesn't go well. Who came alongside of you and showed you Christ, you know? And that's the beautiful thing about crossroads kids' clubs. If your church gets involved, you will be present to win, right, Jasmine? That you'll be part of those kids' lives in moments like that.
Oh yeah, absolutely. We build a mentorship with these students and especially during this time where they may be going through something you don't know or at home or at school and we're just a happy face to see them, play games with them and teach them about Jesus. And I know when I was in high school, I ran across the country and I'll never forget my coach who. We'll get to that story in a minute when we come back. But we need your story: 866-348-7884.
In the meantime, Crossroads Kids Club. Go to their website. Go to truthnetwork.com, find out about it. We've got a lot more coming up. Stay tuned.
Truth talk. You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. Crossroads Kids' Clubs. That's what we're talking about today on Truth Talk Live, especially in your own world, like when you were in school or school age. And someone came alongside of you, and maybe that moment in some way you saw the love of God in them and they spoke into your life.
You know, when has that happened to you? What did that look like? Or maybe you've been involved with something like a Crossroads Kids Club in a school. I would love to hear your story. 866-348-7884 is the number to call in and share.
866-348-7884. And when we left, our hero Jasmine Hyatt, who is actually the Piedmont Area Coordinator for Crossroads Kids Clubs, you were talking about you ran cross country in high school, and there was a coach. Yeah, um, so I had a coach who did what exactly what Miss Jay was kind of talking about. It's just a smile on the face was very encouraging. Um, y you know, as we were running, he always encouraged me.
I always I felt I could talk to him openly about like what's, you know, what's going on in my life, and he was interested in it. And he always encouraged me. You know, if I had a hard math test or something, I was telling him, like, hey, I aced that test or anything. And it was just really great to have mentors like that in my life. And he never outright said that he believed in Jesus, but he definitely, like, you could just tell with his personality.
Personality and how he cared for all of us, and how he encouraged us even when we lost races or got injured, you know, how he just kept showing us. to have hope and keep pushing forward. Yeah, you know, the beautiful thing about that for me, it speaks of grace. Right? 'Cause g grace means favor.
And you know how when you're around somebody and you can tell you're their favorite Like I'm their favorite. You know, like you have this sense when you look in their eyes that they don't They care all about you. They care about your math test. They care about your family. They care about everything because they care about you.
And they're really interested. It may be an uncle, it may be an aunt. But the neat thing is that Jesus is full of the grace of that, that when you look in his eyes, you know, we're going to experience that in a measure that's unbelievable. We get a chance to find that often in teachers and coaches. and in Crossroads Kids Club.
So as we've been talking about this today, Again, if you want to call us with your story, we would love to hear it. 866-348-7884. But the idea of these clubs is, you see, we can get the gospel through and we can meet. Hurting kids. I like the word crossroads because a lot of those kids are at a crossroads, crossroads of depression, crossroads of abuse or drugs or whatever they're at.
And here's a club. Right there in elementary school, right? What a time for such a time as this. And by you and your church getting involved, Jasmine, you'll go to the school and help get this club established, right? Absolutely.
And I'll build a mentor, or sorry, a relationship with the church and the schools and school district. And just so they know who Crossroads Kids Club is and the church that is wanting to sponsor club at that school and just help. encourage the relationship between the two as well as I'll train Volunteers for the church's team and be there every step of the way. Yeah, it's really cool.
So, you know, it. I've heard it said, and I think it really hits me in the heart as a pastor that, you know, if your church didn't exist in your community, what difference would it make to the community, right? And if you had a really active crossroads kids' church in your elementary school, in your area, whatever, I mean, oh my goodness, here's families that you're impacting that. Every single week, these kids have got a resource. Every single week, you know, they're finding people like that that are full of grace and actually can openly, because it's part of the thing, talk about the gospel right there in a public school because people are given permission, right?
The parents give the kids permission to come to this club, and it's perfectly legal and within the system. It's an absolutely beautiful thing. We got Ruth. Is Ruth Tate actually in Winston-Salem? Ruth, you're on True Talk Live.
Good afternoon. Good afternoon. So what have you got for us? I didn't have I didn't have a after school program, but in the third grade, I am convinced that I had a teacher. Her name was Miss Cross.
And she yes, it was. And she Um had the third grade class every single day. We had to Repeat the 100th Psalm. Really? And yes, and I'm convinced that just the Word of God being planted in.
in my life, and I'm sure it had effect on the rest of the children. I think that that had influence on me and in the Lord using that. to bring me to salvation. Really? And so did you come to salvation in the third grade?
No, I didn't, not until twenty one. But, you know, the Word of God is eternal, and I think that that really did. And I didn't have any real influence. Or any I didn't memorize scripture. You know, the Bible wasn't taught at home.
Uh but I did have that um influence. Yes, had Miss Cross. And so the hundredth Psalm Just so you all know what it sounds like, here it is. I've got it. Do you know it by heart?
You know, I don't remember.
So I looked it up while you were talking. Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness. Come before his presence with singing. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving and into his courts with praise.
Be thankful unto him and bless his name. For the Lord is good, his mercy is everlasting, and his truth endureth to all generations. And there is another verse that says, we are his people. and the sheep of his pasture. Yeah, I love the way you did that.
I love the way you did that because that is. Um A neat way to think about that, right? That we are his people and we are the sheep of his pasture. And that's so beautiful that Miss Cross. Right.
You remember it? She was your third grade teacher. I mean, for me, I can't even remember my third grade. Maybe I'm a lot older than you, but I really can't even remember my third grade teacher. It was a long time ago.
It was in the 70s.
So, I mean, that is truly outstanding. And what a neat thing that she did. I am so grateful for your call. I know that is encouraging a lot of teachers out there, but I guess you didn't go to a public school. I did go to a public school.
Oh, and Miss Cross just went and prostal. Good for her. That's awesome. I love it. I love it.
That is truly cool.
Well, thank you so much for your call, Ruth. I'm so blessed by it. I'm going to remember this one for a while. God bless you. Thank you for taking my call.
Oh, you're welcome. And we would love your call, by the way. 866-348-7884. 866-348-7884. You know, it could have been a school bus driver or the lunch lady, whoever it was, right?
We're young, we're impressionable, and somebody sees you. You know, that's just part of what actually Crossroads Kids Clubs, one of their themes, is.
Somebody sees you. And That's so critical a thing, right? And Uh uh so What we're trying to explain is this is not all that hard. to set this up and get your church involved. Um Right, Tasman?
Because if your church is willing, And you can do some volunteers, but it's a commitment, right? Every single week, they're going to have to. meet with the kids in these clubs.
So on average, about how big are the clubs?
So it really depends on how many volunteers you have on your team.
So if you have a team of about five people and that includes your team captain and four other volunteers, you can have about 30 to maybe 50, depending on what you're comfortable with. Ideally, we'd like to stick to the ratio of one volunteer per seven. To ten students.
So, but if you have, even if you just have four people, You can do late. Yeah, I mean And again, it just becomes a wonderful thing and a way to build some community with your church, too. And so we're going to be back with Crossroads Kids Clubs and Jasmine Hyatt. And we would love your calls. 866-348-7884-866-34 TRUTH.
We'll be right back. Truth talk. You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. Welcome back to Truth Talk Live. How about when you were in school?
Was there someone That saw you. when you were hurting, when you were broken. And they reached out and they impacted you. When you were at a crossroads, What did that look like? We would love to hear from you.
866-348-7884. 866-348-7884. And there are last name apps to be crossed. We would love that too. That was really remarkable.
I love that. We're here and so blessed to be talking with Jasmine, with Crossroads Kids' Clubs. And what they're doing in schools across this country is remarkable. They've been doing it for 25 years. That when you set up these clubs in a school, you know, you can literally share Jesus as long as it's in this club format.
And they will help you. She's a coordinator here, and they will help you to. Go through the process of getting the forms into the district and getting the permission slips and getting the volunteers and getting people trained and whatever else. If you have a vision to do this and you want your church to have an impact, right, on the community, then what an amazing thing. All you have to do is go to reachourschools.com.
Because that's what you want to do: is reach our schools, and that's what I want to do: reach our schools.
So go to reachourschools.com, and there, again, you can join the movement. And really neat if God just puts it on your heart to pray. I mean, what an opportunity. It's Crossroads Kids' Clubs, obviously, and there's a website for Crossroads Kids' Clubs as well. But if you want to join the movement, you go to reachourschools.com.
But also, you can give, right? If God put on your heart, because obviously they need resources. And they figured it out that for $32 a month, you know, we'll support one child as they go through. the whole process because they have a curriculum, right? That you guys teach and that they use in these clubs as well as meeting with the kids when they're going through.
Crash rate. Right. Yeah. We have a curriculum and also game options. Um and but the curriculum has everything from uh small group discussion questions to uh interactive Bible lesson for the large group and game options.
And and this is so well you got these kids, you know, you got some of them that are first graders, some of them that are fifth graders. How do you Try to reach Damn it, th you know, it's gotta be an interesting mix there.
Well absolutely and that's what's amazing about Crossroads Kids Club is that we are focused on having small groups.
So we have ideally if you say for example you have five volunteers total for your team.
So you have you could do the kindergarten first graders together and then ideally separate it by grade. And so you have each small group leader and they can reach each child and our curriculum even says in certain lessons where it's like for the younger kids maybe ask this or these crafts and activities and for the older kids you know dig a little deeper into the scripture and So yeah, you're literally bringing the Bible, the B-I-B-L-E, right straight into the school, right? Absolutely. So it's after school.
So after school, once that school bell, uh, dismissal bell rings, it it's community space.
So there's no concern of uh violating the whole separation of church and state. The the children's parents are the ones that sign them up at for after school to go to the club once a week and It's Is it An amazing experience for that. Yeah, I mean how cool is it when you think about it? You know, a lot of us You know, we're talking, oh my goodness, there's school shootings. Oh, my goodness, there's violence.
And oh, my goodness, there's this. You know, obviously. Death reigns all over all these different situations. The beautiful thing is that if you look in the book of Ezekiel, chapter 37, right, you're going to see this amazing prophecy. Ezekiel sees these dry bones and God just says something real simple.
To him. He says, Speak, prophesy unto these dry bones, Ezekiel. You know what he was supposed to say? Here Or y you know Tell them to hear the word of the Lord. It's that simple.
If those dry bones could hear, which the word is Shema in Hebrew, and the idea is both hear and obey, if they could hear the word of the Lord. Then they get sinews and life and soul and spirit, all that stuff that comes with the dry bones, right? The picture. But the beginning of it is just simply. Hear the word.
of the Lord. And so when you bring the BIBLE into the schools, like you see the opportunity in the, and we got three churches. For every single Yeah. school out there i mean We have an opportunity, the Church of America, to actually get the Bible back in schools. But it takes, you know, like, it's not going to be just a no-brainer.
You've got to get. together with Crossroads Kids Club. Help them fill out the forms. You do the stuff. And, you know, and it takes, you know, prayer, which is an opportunity to meet with God about your school and all those things.
And it's really, really cool when it happens, right? And you guys have been doing it. The fruit is amazing. Yes, absolutely. And so how did you, Jasmine, get involved?
So, prior to this, I was a police officer here in our community. Are you really? I was. Yeah, that's how cool.
So, you were a police officer? Yes, I was a police officer with Winston Police Department. I primarily patrolled on the east side, and I got to experience meeting s uh c certain kids that They came from broken families, or their parents, or they themselves were involved in drugs or gang activity. And a lot of these kids, that, especially when they come from broken homes like that, they're looking for support systems.
So, sadly, they'll join gangs and commit violent crimes before their brains are even aware of what they're doing and what it's doing to their hearts as well. And so, that. With Crossroads Kids Club, we can reach these children before they even join these things. We can be that support system for them and build those relationships. They're joining something because they're looking for community, right?
They're looking for people that see them. Yes, that love them and care for them. And respect them. Right? And and So how cool by having these clubs?
It is that exact place. place. And what a neat place to come from from the police force. And you saw that. And then.
What God just planted this one in your front of you? How did it work? Yeah, so while I was a cop, I really was interested being on the east side mainly because I felt like I was a mentor to these kids and I wanted to reach out to them and, you know, be there for them, especially with like frequent runaways. You know, I'd always ask them, Hey, why are you doing this? What's going on?
there are some that, you know, they they built I built that rapport with them so I would help be able to de escalate certain situations with them. Um, and but it just really put a a like I was interested in gangs as well as interested in like specifically juvenile gangs and interested in the children. And that God already started pl planting that seed in my heart. Um, and then after my second child, um, My husband and I, you know, we were like, hey, I, you know, with childcare and everything. Maybe I should, you know, look for a part-time job so I could be home more with our own kids.
And I came across Crossroads Kids Club on Indeed, of all things. I came across a job posting. I was like, oh my gosh, that is so cool. And I prayed about it. And I just felt like God was leading me like, this is what you need to be doing right now.
This is how you can reach these kids. And it was even. Um greater about it is like I It coordinate like I I'm partnering with these churches. And so not only am I we can reach the kids at at once a week at these schools and start teaching them about the Bible and about Jesus and everything, getting them and building those relationships, but then they can start, ideally, like go to that church that's sponsoring them. Oh, exactly.
And their families learn about Jesus and, you know, we can just be the light in the darkness in our community, which is really important right now with what everything going on here in Win Salem and the Piedmont Triad area. Yeah, yeah, 'cause I I I think a lot of folks Have no concept of the gang activity that goes on in this city, right? And being in Winston Sam. First of all, thank you for your service. I mean, that's amazing.
And it's amazing that you were able to build rapport with those kids and those gangs, because that's a tough place. And it's a messy place. as as as I can imagine. That Um For somebody that isn't aware. Can you give somebody an idea of like Gangs are a big, big, big time part of the east side of Winston-Salem, right?
It's not just the east side, um, it's all over, but I'm Side is just kind of where I just felt like God was putting it on my heart. It tends to be a little bit more violent there. And but yeah, it it's really I mean, even in the middle of nowhere, like out in the country, there are there are kids joining gangs, even if it's not like huge gangs, um, related to, like, for example, like, um, the cartels or anything, you know, crazy, you know, connections like that. But they're still, like, little like they're trying to make a family and they're trying to c create a small, like, support group and this is, you know, w why d why can't we just catch these kids before they start going down these paths, you know, before they do things like shooting people and stuff? Um Right, the drugs and all that are a result of the community.
A lot of times they would never have thought about doing that except for their buddy, you know, is obviously being in in Involved on whatever chain, and these people that prey on That you know, they have They go, oh, these people are going to be want to be part of a community. We're going to give them a community. We're going to make them feel special, and then we're going to take advantage of them. But here's an opportunity for God to come in and show light in the same exact thing that you saw. And I, you know, like so many missionaries, you know, you always see that, that God breaks their heart.
And then he gives them an opportunity to sew into them.
So, what a beautiful thing that God opened up this door for Crossroads Kids Clubs for you, Jasmine. But also, that so you're a new mom, too, sort of. Not necessarily.
Well So my oldest is six, but yeah. But my second one yeah, my second one is gonna be one soon. Yeah, so you're pretty yeah. On the younger side. And so is the six year old starting school?
Ah, yeah, she uh she's already in school, yeah. She's in kindergarten now. Yeah, it's An opportunity for your own children to see and experience this. And so it's a beautiful thing that you've got five churches already in the triad that are involved, or how many do you have here? Yeah, so we're new in the area and we're we've grown more this year.
I'm very new to this position. I started back in April.
So Yes, uh but yes, we we have five.
So, five churches so far, and you can see this is an amazing opportunity. You can come at it from a lot of different angles. Like, I'm sitting here thinking, gee, my daughter works at Ibram Elementary, and I know there's a Methodist church that does amazing work at that, because my daughter's told me about them. And so, why not approach that church that's already involved in the school and say, hey, would you guys consider doing this? Man, maybe you know something like that.
You just go to again, the website is reachourschools.com. Reachourschools.com. Again, we would love your stories. We're not trying to make you short on that. Call us how somebody touched you at 866-348-7884-866-34TRUTH.
We would love to hear from you. Give us a call. We'll be right back. Reach ourschools.com. You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com.
Welcome back to True Talk Live today. We're at a crossroads. Crossroads kids. I love this name, and I love the idea of these clubs that are going into these schools, and they're touching kids that are at a crossroads for such a time as this, right? And so, maybe you had someone in your life.
Uh Janitor, who knows that just they saw you when you were at a crossroads, they stepped in and It made an impact. It may have made an impact like Miss Cross did with Honored Psalm, right? Like, that's amazing. We would love to hear it from you. 866-348-7884.
866-348-7884. So honored, actually, to be here with Jasmine Hyatt, who was telling me at the break, she was also. In the Capitol Police Force in Washington, D.C., prior to being a Winston-Salem police officer, which she did nearly four years. And I'm sure, you know, Randy, I'm amazed. You know, you would think that that kind of thing might harden somebody, but it didn't harden Jasmine.
It softened her heart for these children. And she's like, man, we got to come up with something where they can find something other than a gang to give them. You know, that sense of community, that sense of meaning, that sense of somebody sees me, right? I mean something. Right.
My life matters, however that works. Absolutely. And even with mental health, mental health crises are just. Growing in our community and drug abuse and alcohol abuse at such young ages, and pornography. I mean, to learn at that, like the average age now of a child being exposed to pornography is eight years old.
I mean, that's still elementary age. And so. And and then, you know Two years older than you're you know. Yeah, absolutely. And and or abuse in their household.
I mean, we we there's so many things that these kids could be going through and just to be that Person that they can, you know, there's almost like a safe safe place, you know. Right. And where they're going to meet the safest place of all, which is Jesus, right? When you come into the school with a Bible and you're actually able to show them the good news, like what an opportunity we all have. But, you know, we got to see this as what it is.
And so, again, if you go to reachourschools.com and reach out, you know. Wherever you're listening today, they may not be in the triad area. You may be in Raleigh or you may be in Ohio. But believe me, Crossroads Kids wants to engage with you and make an impact in your school. And they have the experience of how to do it.
They have the technology. They have the curriculum. There's a beautiful video, by the way. If you go to reachourschools.com or crossroadkids.com, they show you a video of what that looks like, how that can be, you know, show you how you can be involved financially, you can be involved prayerfully, how you can support them any way that you want to. But the neat thing is, it's just available.
And it's so critical because, you know, this. Is the next generation, and it's the responsible of every generation to pass on the gospel to the next generation. And what a neat thing to do, since I don't know. If you're like me, but if you go into a lot of churches, You may notice there aren't a lot of kids. Uh you know.
I'm just saying. And I speak in a lot of churches, and I even pastor a church, and I can just tell you. That The number of adults to kids, it's not a good margin in a lot of places. And so, how neat that actually, like you talked about, Jasmine. that the kids come to the clubs.
Then they asked their mom to start to go to that church. Yes, absolutely. And they also, you know, they bring crafts A home that we do in club, and their parents or guardians, or their whoever their family is, start seeing this and you know, may be interested in it. We have a neat video on our website of Carl and Annabelle, and that kind of gives that perfect example where this little girl named Annabelle was going to club, and her grandfather, his after his wife passed away. He, um Yeah.
just he grew far from God and uh then he started seeing the crafts that Annabelle was bringing home and it was like, I want to learn more about this and he kept coming closer and closer to the club. Mostly um because this was during COVID time period, so they had to be outside. Um, but so he had to drive her to the club. But Anyways, so he he started you know, eventually he started talking to Pastor Alex and he learned about it and Pastor Alex created like a support group that was a similar like Crossroads but for the adults, like for the to reach out to the to the adults that care for these kids. And to learn more about Jesus and learn about more about God and everything.
And he came to Christ through. Annabelle going to Crossroads Kids' Club at her school. Right. you know, he f He got some comfort from what was a horrific loss. You can see, you know, the opportunities are all over the place, but actually, the opportunities in your own way are probably around you every day.
If you look around, you can see somebody that's hurting, right? And maybe somebody did that for you when you're in school, and you remember it to this day. We would love to hear it because as other people hear your story, It impacts them like, oh yeah, that happened to me. 866-348-7884. 866-3484.
Uh You know Satan He hates kids. He just does. And he starts attacking them really early, like eight-year-olds, seeing pornography and all that stuff. Right? And He is not asleep on this deal.
And we have the opportunity to, you know, to join in the fight, whatever that might look like. And so, you know, what are your thoughts? Maybe you just want to call and comment on the subject or even ask a question. We would love for you to call us. 866-348-7884-866-34-TRUTH.
And So Again, when they do this curriculum, uh Do they have like workbooks? Um so they have to Have, so they have questions, and it's not necessarily workbooks, but they have questions that they'll ask them in their small groups. They also will have. things that they take home, um, that the uh club can reach out to the parents and kinda you know, show them what they're learning and things like that.
So there are these resources that are actually coming home with Bible verses on them and things like that that obviously will. plus the crafts that you're talking about. Yes.
And so, you know, one of the things that immediately grabbed my attention, games. I like games. I can assure you. We did a vacation Bible school here a couple weeks ago and at our church. And if you ask any of the kids afterwards, you know.
We did this, we did this, we did what was your favorite part? The games.
So, you know, finding those Jesus games is not so easy, right? Because you know that they're going to have a blast, but you want them to have a blast with something they remember that, oh, the reason for the season, so to speak. What are some of the games? I can't recall off the top of my head, but a lot of the games are very inclusive.
So we try to avoid elimination games kind of because we're trying to build. Like Outreach to these kids. We're trying to lift them up.
So they're fun, interactive.
So dodgeball isn't on the list. No, no, it's not. No, but we have. all sorts of different options of games that, you know, depending on what space you're in in school. If you can be if you're in the hallway or the library or the music room, you know, you're probably going to be limited on space.
Um but if you're in the gym, you know, or you can go outside, then you have tons of space. Um so there there's all sorts of games that you can play. Um and it's flexible depending on whatever space you're in. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's beautiful. And again, you know, it's just It's like figuring out a way to kind of like have a Sunday school class in its own way right there in your church, right in your public school.
And I'm familiar with these. This idea, and it's been going on for a while and it's had great impact. And again, we We see what's going on. They took prayer out of schools, you think. Right?
But here's an opportunity. I I'll bet you they pray at these clubs too, don't they? Absolutely. And so, you know. what an opportunity to bring prayer back into school as you volunteer for this, get your church involved in it.
When you walk in the front door with a Bible and armed with prayer, it's a big impact. Yes.
And welcome God back in because, you know, all those children. Are going to be affected by what happens in that club. I would imagine every child in the school, because it's God's. invited back in, you know, what an opportunity. Yes.
Yeah. Even s some of the clubs we had last year, the the principal is like, Are you doing it again this year? And we're like, Yes, yes, we are. You know, they're very happy to have us there because they see that we're a blessing to the school. We're not only there to support the students, but we're there to support the teachers and the staff, especially during this time right now with what's going on with Winn-Salem for Scythe County School District.
You know, we're we want to just be able to be another source of support and reach out to them and their students as well. Yeah, because I'm sure that they're all Concerned about their positions, especially if they're in administration and all that stuff that's going on financially with the Winston-Salem for Scythe County Schools. But again, if you're listening in Greensboro or wherever it is, you know, if this is a way to get involved, again, it's reachourschools.com, reachourschools.com, or again, Crossroads Kids Club. You can just Google that and off you'll go. But Ye you know, the idea is You know, God's putting it on your heart.
I wonder why that is. Hmm.
Well, he put it on your heart, didn't he, Jasmine? Yes, he did.
Well, God bless you.
Well, thank you so much for being with us. What an honor. Thank you again for your service. And thank you for listening. And we're so grateful for your listening this week.
