Hello and welcome to Truth Matters with Dr. Cheryl Davis. Dr. Davis begins a new series this week on the topic of the spiritual calling of motherhood, the erosion of spiritual and moral values in the family and in the nation in modern times.
Our nation stands at the crossroads today of a moral meltdown or a spiritual awakening. Here's Dr. Davis, the spiritual calling of motherhood. In the previous series, I See You, I spoke to women specifically about the gender war and how God is using painful situations in our lives for our good.
I want to thank all of you for the feedback that I received from those who listened and said that the message was right on time for your life and your situation. As I said in that series, women are gifts from God. We are a treasure and God is concerned with everything that concerns us. It seems, however, that society is moving at a pace that is not conducive to time and communion with God. We pack our schedules so busy that we can easily get overwhelmed over time and burned out. I deal with physician burnout quite often in the field of medicine.
When we continue to operate on an empty tank and not take the time to refill ourselves on the inside, we move into a burnout type situation. Motherhood can be like this also. When mothers serve their families tirelessly and do not take the time to commune with God, we are not fulfilling our role as a mother the way that God intended. When you really think about it, for those of us who are mothers, motherhood is a great calling of God. The primary purpose of motherhood is to provide for the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of our children. In Proverbs 22 verse 6, the Bible says, Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it. I want to dive deep into this verse in this series and really glean from the Bible about motherhood in the year 2020.
What is God calling us to do and to be in this year specifically so that God can continue to be glorified through motherhood? Being a mother in the society we live in today is not the same as what our mothers faced or our grandmothers. Children today face a more ultra-liberal, godless society than my generation or your generation. Many polls and reports state that 70% of the U.S. population say they are Christians, but in contrast, only about 18% as of 2002 attended church regularly or at least twice a month. Over time, the moral decay of this country has displaced the identity and the role of the church in today's family and in the public square. Since the 1960s, atheists like Stephen Engle and Madeline Murray O'Hare helped influence change in our courts to remove prayer and Bible reading out of public schools.
And then in 1973, a new wave of attacks came when the U.S. Supreme Court legalized abortion with the Roe versus Wade decision, which has resulted today in more than 58 million fetuses. This and other factors have seriously wounded our national standard of morality and has significantly imputed the spiritual fabric of our nation. Since the Clinton era, the decay of America has been on a fast track to self-destruction, with some describing Hillary Clinton as a modern day Jezebel. Under her leadership and watch as First Lady, U.S. Senator and U.S. Secretary of State, she advanced the feminist agenda aggressively and is personally responsible for bringing spiritism into the White House during her husband's presidency.
Spiritism is a philosophy of divination, astrology, and communicating with the dead via demonic spirits. I'm Dr. Cheryl Davis. Please listen to my next broadcast as I continue the spiritual calling of motherhood. Until then, keep praying and believing God for a national awakening and revival. God has a purpose behind every problem we may face as a mother, a father, a family, or a nation. In His great and infinite wisdom, He develops character within the soul and restores righteousness within the nation.
While values and faith seem to be on the decline in our country, God has a purpose and solution behind everything. If you have questions, Dr. Davis is available to help you. You can reach her at Cheryl Davis at ProjectTruthMatters.com.
