You just heard Laura Huckabee with the forecast. We're going to check in with her a little bit later on today, but a little bit later on in the program, by the way. Also, Commander Chuck standing by with a look at your morning commute. Again, traffic pretty busy out there this morning, and most of it due to the crazy construction zones.
Well, we have a terrific show for you coming up in just a little while. We are becoming K-Wham is becoming the unofficial official fan zone of the University of Memphis Tigers, and we love that because we love the Tigers here. Phil Glass from the Highland 100 Booster Club is going to be here a little bit later on to talk about all the excitement there at the all-new Liberty Bull Stadium.

On the Mighty 990, and the huge, huge news, of course, Memphis Tigers debuting in the newly renovated, and this is a multi-million dollar renovation. The entire Tennessee congressional delegation, including Congressman. David Kustoff standing alongside Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger as she honored the one and only Dolly Parton. Let's take a listen. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to honor a true daughter of Tennessee, Dolly Parton, a woman who needs no introduction.
Dolly was a native of my district in East Tennessee, and she was from Locust Ridge in Sevier County. She never forgot where she came from. Her music told the truth about hard work and faith and family, and that truth is why the whole world fell in love with Dolly. But it was her heart that made her a legend back home. She rebuilt the community after the wildfires in 2016 that tore through Sevier County.
She opened doors for children to learn to read through her Imagination Library. She supported health care and research for Tennessee families, and she protected the mountains that she loved. Most people will know her theme park that's in the district called Dollywood. She was guided by her faith in her East Tennessee upbringing, and Dolly used her success to lift people up around her at every turn. My prayers are with her family and everyone who loved her.
The Tennessee delegation is committed to ensuring that her legacy is remembered for generations to come. All right.

So, can we talk about Otis Sanford for just a moment here? Otis Sanford, many of you have read his column in the Daily Mimphian. He's on one of the local TV stations. And this guy And a lot of people may not realize this, but Otis Sanford was a part, and he is a professor emeritus at the University of Memphis in the journalism program. This guy is a raging race-baiting leftist and wrote something that has really rankled a lot of people here in the Mid-South.
And it's pretty nasty. But I'm going to read it for you so you get the idea of who this guy really is. Everybody, you know, the local media worship this guy. Like he is, uh, I don't know, Jesus Christ with an ink pen and a notepad. I mean, they worship Otis Sanford.
Uh, but this is what Otis wrote on a social media page about President Trump and also the Republicans who represent Memphis and Tennessee in both locally and also at the federal level. Uh, here's what Sanford said: Some people have asked me why I am so critical of Tennessee Republican politicians, such as Senator Marsha Blackburn. Representative David Kustoff and State Senator Brent Taylor. Here's my answer. All three of them have sold their political souls to the most corrupt, incompetent, mean-spirited, conniving, lying, vindictive, race-baiting, misogynistic, and dangerous president in American history.
All of them know better. They know deep down that this man is a disgusting disgrace. He's writing this about the president of the United States, by the way. Yet they kowtow to him as if he is a deity. I cannot, in good conscience, stay silent.
Enough is enough.
Well, what exactly is he talking about here? I don't see any of these individuals bowing down or kowtowing to anything that Donald Trump says. What they have done is they have embraced The America First Agenda, what they have done is take a stand for the good people. of Memphis and Shelby County. Yeah.
As a matter of fact, I would contend that Otis Sanford, shame on you, sir. Because it seems to me that Otis Samford is the one kowtowing, and he's kowtowing to the gang bangers and the thugs and the thuglings out there. Where's Ota Samford with all the columns? condemning the black-on-black violence in Memphis. Where's Otis Samford?
ripping the Democrats for the massive, massive loss of population. The businesses leaving the Mid-South. And by the way, these are not these are many of these businesses could actually stay here, and many of them wanted to stay here. I mean, you've got FedEx let's talk about FedEx for just a moment, where you've got FedEx FedEx stampers have to come from other areas. They literally live beyond Fayette County because they're concerned about the crime right here in Memphis.
Where's Odo Stanford writing those kinds of columns? But this guy is no different than Al Sharpton and all these greasy race baiters out there who make their money by foaming up and throwing gasoline on some sort of a race war that they started in the first place. But that's not why we ought to be concerned about this because Otis showed himself for who he really is. And I can respect that in a man. But here's what bothers me.
This guy's been teaching journalism at the University of Memphis for years, and now you know, ladies and gentlemen, why so many of the journalism grads coming out of the University of Memphis. Share these beliefs. Those journalism classrooms were nothing more than indoctrination and propaganda centers for this guy's left-wing ideology. And for that he should be condemned. But again, here in Memphis, The media and you know that certain crowd And you know who I'm talking about.
That certain crowd, they worship this guy. They worship this guy. Shame on you, Otis Sanford Whatever happened to fair and balance, sir. Whatever happened to that. All right, got to take a quick break here.

Well, this is Lisa Arnold, our great our good friend and great American patriot. Lisa, I'm doing good, you know, getting back into the morning routine here on the Mighty Nine Ninety. I know. I'm enjoying the show. I'm glad you're back.
Well, Lisa, I've got some exciting news for you because you are the winner of a copy of The Golden Age, How Trump Saved America. Awesome. But you know, Todd, I've been trying to get to your book signings and stuff, but You know, my work schedule is all over the place, so b I sleep when most people are up uh d during the day, so I I could bring one I could bring one over uh to the office here, Lisa, you know, about one, two o'clock in the morning. Is that your busy time? Yeah, about between uh two and four Four thirty, that's when the you know, that's when the crazies happen, so That's my busiest time of the day or the night.
Lisa, here's how crazy it is. Literally, I've been on the road since the book came out.
So, the past three, four weeks, you know, been on the road on the weekends.
So, I'm at Whole Foods in Germantown yesterday, and a lady comes up to me. She says, We've been missing you at church. And I thought, uh oh. I'm on somebody's prayer list because I haven't been in church. I've been out on the road on the weekends.
But anyway, this Sunday, I will be. I don't have anything to do except go to the Memphis Tigers game on Saturday and then finally church at Germantown Baptist on Sunday.
So it'll be nice to kind of get back into the routine.
Well, hopefully, I'll see you at the game Saturday. I'll be there also. Lisa, it's going to be a great game. I'm so excited about the team, the attitude, the renovation. It's going to be a pretty spectacular weekend, I think, for Memphis.
I think so too. All right, Lisa, hang tight. We're going to get you that copy of the book. And as we're doing that, I want to go to this audio I told you about. Kristen New, who founded the Shelby County chapter of Moms for Liberty, writing about concerns she's having about the Republican Party.
And this is a conversation that's literally being had around the nation right now. Take a listen. We've got to talk about this post you wrote about your local Republican Party, which you are a member of the grassroots, which were kind of, I mean, unceremoniously shoved aside here. And there's really no polite way to say this, but locally Republicans got their butts handed to them. We did.
I actually hold a vote in the party. I'm the District 83 representative of the party that covers Germantown, a little sliver of Cordova, some of that area, East Memphis. And so I. I am part of the Republican Party, but like you said, I was the grassroots faction of the party. And so there's another girl that we call ourselves the Kristens here.
And we are the conservative housewives. The real housewives of Germantown. The housewives of Germantown.
So we actually got a mention in your book, which I'm so excited about.
So everybody go buy that book just so you can read. Oh, I forgot about that. Yes, y'all are in my book. We're in the book.
So it's so exciting. But yeah, so what we're doing in the Republican Party, and what we tried to do is that we took over the party a couple of years ago during Revive 25 is what we call the year 2025. And we built this outreach committee. And this outreach committee had the idea, this crazy idea, that we're not going to ask people to come to us and do these, you know, these meet and greets and these little house parties. We're actually going to go to the people.
So we started setting up tents in. At uh festivals, we started uh just You were at one of the sign waving events. We literally stood on the side of the road and invited people to come over. I'm just going to say this, Dylan. Kristen won't admit to this, but I showed a little bit of ankle, and I tell you, Todd got more people to honk than any of us did.
I will tell you. I got good-looking ankles. I'm just saying. But we do have fun, and that was the whole purpose because politics has gotten gross. It is gotten swampy, disgusting.
We wanted to get back to the good old handshaking, kissing babies, politicking way of the South. And that is what we wanted to get back into. But. We were pushed aside. And we were told by the elite establishment that we don't want to do that because we don't want these Walmart.
people in our party. We want only the people who are willing to write big checks. But what they don't understand is that I would actually rather have those people because you know who votes? Those people, they may can only write you a $5 check and that's fine and I'll take their $5, but I don't really need their $5. What I need is their vote.
And so that's what the Republican Party was missing. And we had a debrief last night. And so that debrief, the leaders, the executive board, I thought they were going to go in there and tell us exactly what it is that we need to do to fix the fact that we got. Our butts handed to us here in Shelby County. It was the worst turnout of a primary that we've ever had.
But instead, they blamed the voters. They blamed apathy. They blamed the candidates for not running good campaigns. They blamed everybody but themselves. And I had to sit there and listen to that for an hour.
So I went on Facebook. And I talked about it. Because leaders don't blame other people. Leaders say, we dropped the ball. They had a room full of people last night willing to help fix it.
Willing to say, okay, we're good. We know the ball was dropped. What can we do? And that didn't happen. It's really shocking to me because I do remember when you guys were leading the charge.
And I mean, hundreds of people were coming by your tents and the displays. They were getting Trump gear, all this kind of stuff. And I just, as you guys were, as I was reading what you wrote on social media, I kept thinking to myself, I've heard this story over and over and over and over again from all over the country where it seems like this is what's happening in the Memphis area is really a microcosm of what's happening nationwide with the Republican Party right now. People are feeling homeless. They don't have a party now because the Republican Party is kind of like the New Democrat Party.
It's the party of the elites. It's the party of you don't belong here. And then the Democrats, of course, have gone off the deep end. They don't even know where they're at. They're on another planet.
So then you have a lot of people like me who don't feel like they identify with the elitist part of the party, the private clubs, the $300 plate dinners, that kind of stuff. We don't identify with that, but we don't have anybody that is really talking to us, the everyday person.
So we don't feel a part of anything. And then We don't vote. We're not going out to the primaries because the Republicans, they control the ballot so tightly that they they actually choose who goes on the ballot before you even get to the polls. And that's why you're really not allowed to primary their chosen people. And in Shelby County, we had an election where we had only one person on the ballot for a position or we had nobody.
That does not create a sense of urgency for the voters to show up at the polls. All right, there we go. And again, if you want to listen, it was a long-form interview. This guy's not sitting down in the Cracker Barrel rocking chair. Mr.
Sanders just claimed, reclaimed the record as the oldest hiker on the Appalachian Trail. This is remarkable.
So, Mr. Sanders, talking to the Daily Memphis, said he fell about 71 times on the journey, but he was able to finish, had to spend a little bit of time in the hospital, but he did a terrific job on the trail between Springer Mountain and Georgia, and of course, the great state of Maine. That was quite the hike. But congratulations to Mr. Sanders.
He started in September of 2025 in West Virginia, and he finished Monday this week. On top of Maine's highest peak.

We're talking about the ultimate Tiger, Mr. Phil Glass. Phil, good to have you with us. Hey, it's great as always to be here. Such an honor.
You know, this is you. You and your wife, I understand, you guys were part of the, what, several thousand people that went out to Vegas to cheer on the Tigers. That's correct, man. It was a great crowd. I'd say there's 3,000 to 4,000 Tiger fans there just showing the support of Charles Huff and the new regime and the University of Memphis football program.
It did. I was watching it in the wee hours back in Memphis, like many of us, and it did my heart good to see all that blue. Yeah, it was great. You know, as I shared with you earlier, we went to one of the event venues right across the street before the game, and the bartender said this is one of the first time he's ever seen more fans from the opposing team than the UNLV fans.
So that touched my heart as a Tiger fan. I'm just curious. You've been a fan for a really long time. It just seems like there's a different vibe. There's, I don't know, some excitement, electricity.
There is. You know, Coach Huff, as the community gets to know him, just a great man, great coach, the passion he's bringing. You know, I love Coach Silverfield, great friend of mine. But Charles Huff, he brings a different energy. You're already seeing it translate on the field and is no doubt is going to translate in our stands and among our fans.
There was something that he did after the game, and I want to play this audio, where he was giving out the game ball. And I just thought this was the neatest thing. I want you guys to listen to what happened. Cut 48. I'm hard on you guys.
I am hard as on the people that take care of you guys.
Okay, so I want to give a game ball. to a person that has put up with my Six. December and every single time Every single time, regardless of how upset I was, it was coach I'm on it.
So somebody's fighting for you guys, and that's Miss Cabot's. Wow, um What do you make of that? Coach Huff doesn't take for granted that it. Coaching a football team is not just him, right? It's an entire administration, which our administration has come so far in building up this program, and he doesn't take that for granted.
He doesn't take for granted the fans. It's not just one person. And, you know, that's what I love about the guy. For me, that's the exciting part: this coach, and we're going to get to the stadium and all that other kind of stuff, the renovations, I think the way he has renovated the mindset of Memphis football. Absolutely.
Just, you know, he's, you can tell the pedigree of where he's come from, the coaches, great coaches he's coached under and learned from. He brings it to us here in the 901. Coach Sabin. Coach Saban, Coach Franklin at Penn State, you know, just, you know, great coaches. But he's learned along the way, and there's no doubt he's allowed that to influence him.
And that energy he brings, I mean, it's just different, and it's what this community needs. Okay, first of all, I appreciate you guys. Change is not easy. It's hard. You guys signed up for something and it changed. I get that.
But what you guys did sign up for was to finish this season the right way. For the next. Week, week and a half, whatever it is, you guys need to make sure you finish this thing the right way. There's some where the seniors at if you're a senior, raise your hand. These guys have invested in the blue and the white.
These guys have invested in this community and university. They deserve to finish this thing the right way. In the situation you guys are in, it would be easy for 30 guys to say, I ain't playing in the bowl game. I ain't this, I ain't that. Right, you guys showing up every day with the right mentality, you guys showing up every day with the right competitive spirit says a lot about you as a person.
I want to first say thank you. Because you guys didn't choose me. I chose you.
Okay, I chose you because of who you are, not what you are. What you are are football players. Who you are are men. That are ultimately going to go in the world and have a chance to create a lot of value for you.
Some of you guys are going to play in the NFL for 38 years. Awesome. Some of you guys won't sniff the NFL, but you're going to be phenomenal husbands, phenomenal fathers, phenomenal citizens.
Okay, so don't lose fact, don't lose track. of what ultimately is important. What's ultimately important is that you use this opportunity. Right? To create value for you and your family.
The guys that do get an opportunity or want to come back, great. It's going to change. And I'm not sitting here saying that what you guys have done hasn't been very good. It's going to be different. It'll be the hardest thing that you ever do.
But it'll be the most rewarding thing that you ever do. You ask anybody that's played for me for the first week and a half, you'll hate me. For the rest of your life, you will love me. I love you guys. I appreciate you guys.
You say, well, how do you love me? I love you because you chose. to do something that's very hard. Football's hard, man. A lot of people at home can't do what you guys do.
Obviously, it's my job to do a really good job of showing you guys that I care about you without a helmet first. With the helmet second. My goal is to help you chase your dreams at the highest level. I don't want to get political or that we're not here to talk politics. But honestly, he needs to deliver that speech from City Hall because that's how you fix what's broken in Memphis right now.
Absolutely. And just, you know, I've heard him say, you know, if I can build a champion of life, I'll build a champion on the field. But it starts with life first. A thousand percent. Ultimate Tiger, Phil Glass, Highland Hundred Booster Club.
Let's talk about what's going to happen Saturday. And I'm just hoping for the city we pack out that stadium. We want people watching the game outside the stadium. Absolutely. Some people may say, well, we're just playing Arkansas State.
Well, hey, that's a regional rivalry. They're going to bring us everything. They're just down the road in Jonesboro, so they're going to travel well. They're going to be here. And we need to just...
That stadium needs to be blue all the way around. And it's going to be exciting. The renovations, the game day experience. Have you seen it? You've gotten the sneak peek?
I have. I got to see it, got to see the inside. You're the ultimate tiger, so of course. You know, I know there's still going to be some work going on on the outside a little bit, but the inside's complete, it's done. It's beautiful.
It's something to showcase, and we're going to be able to Memphis community to say, hey, this is our stadium. It's going to be. I believe ESPN is going to be talking about it. No doubt about it. I was watching, or looking at some photos.
Harold Grader, who was just on the show earlier this week, talking about it, posted some pictures last night. And it didn't even look like the Liberty Bowl with, you know, at nighttime with all the lights and everything. Right. You know, and matter of fact, the coach it, the coach Huff to do something for the community for his radio show tonight. We're actually having it at the stadium.
So if you never come out to his radio show, show up at between, starts at 7 o'clock, but at 6 o'clock, show up at the stadium. You can get in and get a preview. Yeah, it's going to be a lot of fun tonight. Let's talk about the booster club because you guys spring into action. You guys do a lot of stuff, but especially on game day.
tailgating. Tailgating, if you're a member, you can come out. If you're thinking about being a member, find a member. They can bring a guest. We tailgate every game day right out by the fountain.
We have big banners up, no doubt, where our tent is at. Come see what we're all about, meet the other members, feel the passion of what we do. You guys tailgate well. We do well. Very well.
We're going to enjoy the game win or lose. We pray we have a win, but we're going to enjoy ourselves. But you guys do a lot more than just the tailgating as well. Well, again, we're the booster club, the official booster club of the football program. But our primary function is to raise funds to support. And then, you know, we do other things. You know, we always build relationships with the coaches and ask the coach, you know, year to year, what do you need? What do you need from us?
What can we help you support? And we take that. That's how we plan our year and doing our events is based on what the coach tells us he needs. Fantastic.

By the way, some news out of City Hall where. The Memphis City Council. Voted to rename a section of Union Avenue in the medical district. In honor of former Mayor Lee Harris, some members of the city council actually opposed renaming the street, but still they managed to find enough votes to get this passed. Councilmember Jerry Green, who's running for governor, actually proposed honoring Lee Harris.
She served as his former, she was his former deputy chief of staff. And Green said he's done an incredible job for the community. What exactly has he done? What what did Lee Harris actually do? Harris is also a former city council member and state senator.
Council members Dr. Jeff Warren and Edmund Ford Sr. said in Tuesday that they could not. Support the renaming of the street.
So, voting yes, Jerry Green, J.B. Smiley, Philip Spinosa, and Pearl Walker, Edmund Ford Sr., no. And then all the others voted either president or not voting. And that included Yolanda Cooper Sutton, Chase Carlisle, Jeff Warren, Janice Weareger, Washington. And there you go.

So we're going to be following a couple of big stories today. The Lindsey Clancy trial, the jury there can't seem to reach a verdict. And so the judge ordered them back to deliberate, then sent them home for the evening.

Um also, uh we've been following the uh the situation with the Republican Party, and there really is a huge struggle right now to come up with a message. that is going to resonate with voters in in the midterms. And it's going to be tough. Right now in Texas, there's a huge battle between establishment Republicans and MAGA Republicans, and that is not going well.
So a lot of people are just really frustrated right now. And a lot of it has to do with the war, high gas prices, grocery prices aren't going down, and of course, the affordability issue for America's young people. I want you to listen to cut number 32. This is from News Nation, and they're talking about all of us folks in the great state of Tennessee. Take a listen.
And, Steve, I was going to ask you too quickly. In your home of Hamilton County, Tennessee, where you are now, the Republican barely squeezed out a win in the mayoral election after winning in 2022 by 16 points. And the Republican in Knox County also barely won the mayoral election. Trump carried both of these counties in 2024.
So should the GOP be taking these early warning signs seriously before the midterms? Absolutely. Yes. You know, I wrote an article about this because. Frankly, I was astounded.
I live here. This is one of the reddest parts in America, Eastern Tennessee. These should be easy races. They were easy races four years ago, and they got uncomfortably tight this time. That tells me that on a turnout basis, Democrats are incredibly fired up, even in deeply red parts of the country.
So the Democrats aren't going to win Tennessee. They're certainly not going to win Eastern Tennessee. But the fact that they made this uncomfortable for us in Hamilton County, where I live, that is absolutely a warning sign to all of America. All right, there you have it.
