Broadcasting live from JoJo's in Germantown for our fall flame tour. It's Starnes Country with Todd Starnes. And hello, everybody. Good morning, and welcome to Starnage Country. We are broadcasting proudly from JoJo's Espresso here in beautiful Germantown in the Thornwood community.
And it is a beautiful start to the morning out here. Hope you and your family are having a great start today. A little chilly, too, so you might want to grab a jacket. And you will definitely need a jacket for high school football. KWAM Sports Director Parker May is going to be along in just a few moments with an update on what's happening with all of the big games, not only tonight, but of course, a big college football weekend as well.
Well, we have a lot happening today on the show. We want you to come out, have a great time, grab some coffee, grab some breakfast. As a matter of fact, we've already had Chalk who called in yesterday, and one trivia. I am buying him breakfast this morning, and so you never know what's going to happen around this joint.
So we certainly hope that you drop by and say hello and enjoy some great fellowship. Here at JoJo's. By the way, coming up a little bit later, Pamela Furr from Nashville will be joining us to talk Tennessee politics. And we're going to be talking about the situation down in DeSoto County. Also, we are getting some word of something happening in the general sessions court clerk office, and we're not getting many details, but we can tell you that the sources we're talking to are very concerned about some things that are happening in that office.
Of course, Tammy Sawyer already facing massive controversy as a result of that incident with the deputies there at the courthouse when one of her hired private security guards tried to get into the building with a weapon, which is against the law.
So we understand this has this, we don't think this has anything to do with that. This actually has things to do with morale in the office and some other issues that we're hearing about. Regardless, it seems to me that the information that's been shared with us is certainly. Worthy of an investigation. K-Wan, we're going to be all over this story.
We will keep you updated on the very latest.
Well, we are excited to kick off our conversation here at JoJo's with a dear friend and just one of the great, I would say, political power brokers. Is that appropriate to call you that, a political power broker, Rachel Wall? Good to see you this morning. Probably not. But fun for the.
For the purpose of this conversation, you know, you are the vice chair of the Republican Party of Shelby County, and I have to say, it's got to be exciting for you to see the change and the enthusiasm. And I don't know, the word vibe has been thrown around a lot in this city lately. Your reaction. It is exciting, and and vibe actually is a great word if If uh If results are based on how it feels, Then we're going in a really positive direction because we have a great team that's working really well together. And uh I thought you working every day.
to Move the needle in Shelby County, and so the vibe is very good. When you look at how things have been going just really over the past three weeks, it's just really been remarkable. I was just talking to Chip Saltzman, who's a good friend, and he called me a few minutes ago. I'm like, what are you doing up? He's on a plane to Fentris County this morning.
But he asked me, he goes, What is it really like, boots on the ground? I'm like, Chip, it's almost impossible to describe, but it's like a brand new city. I agree with that and you know, even uh You know, everybody's excited. And and heading back downtown and feeling safe. I spoke with a lady last night who said that her high school group travels all around the country to different members' homes, and they have let her know this week that they're ready to come to Memphis.
And so that's, you know. That's the vibe everywhere, and it's wonderful. When you look at, and you know, again, crime is really not a political problem, but the response to it is. And that's the big issue here. And I'm wondering if Republicans, if that message is starting to resonate in communities that have been overwhelmingly Democrat.
Are you guys seeing that? I think so a little bit. And I hope that um that this change, this moment of peace in Memphis, does in fact ignite hope within these communities that have otherwise accepted this as the status quo, that it doesn't have to be this way, and they can play a role in making that change. I think about not just crime, but education as well. And we're going to be talking to our good friend Kristen New and Kristen Hicks a little bit later on today.
And it's exciting to see parents. Standing up and going to those school board meetings, and what is the message to those moms that as they feel like, and it's a completely what I think it's all Democrats on the uh, you know, on the school board, I think, even though it's what uh nonpartisan right now, but um There is a message here, and I think the Republicans have an opportunity.
So, what do you tell those moms and dads that are looking for change?
Well, you hold the power to determine your children's future. And how they're educated, and you set the expectations. It's not just some entity that you have no relationship with. And I really want those parents, if they haven't felt it before, to be empowered and supported. by groups like the Shelby County Republican Party.
What is it about you know, when you look over the past, I guess, month now, month plus, that Charlie Kirk was assassinated, and you've seen this groundswell of passion from young people. In the Mid-South, I spoke two weeks ago at a gathering of Turning Point USA at the high school in Collierville. And then they had another meeting yesterday and they had another packed house.
So you've got kids that are waking up at 6.30 going to these gatherings. What does that tell you about the young people here in Shelby County? I think there was a need. They were there was fertile soil and they needed a reason to To organize and become involved. And I I I'm so gratified that that they're moving for they're they're they're they're moving forward uh with the message.
that you're supplementing and and being a resource for them. And that we can continue that, that it's not a short-term movement. It's been a lot of fun. I'll tell you this. This is funny.
I got a call from somebody that said, hey, I'm at Rhodes College, and they're starting a Turning Point USA at Rhodes College. And I only know this because the alumni, the old school alumni, are very conservative, and they've been very concerned about the leftward lurch. And so I get all these messages.
So the kid reaches out. I'm starting a TP USA. I'm like, man, that's terrific. A week later, I get a message from Rhodes College, another student. Hey, we're starting a college Republican club.
Oh, wow. And then yesterday, as I was leaving, I was just getting off the air at Newsmax, got a call from a kid who's starting a Young Americas Foundation chapter. I'm like, I don't think there are any liberals left at this point. Conservatism is contagious. Apparently, it rose.
It's exciting, and I think the excitement in the Republican Party right now matches the excitement that we are seeing, Rachel, in the Republican Party.
Well, I think reasonable reasonable people understand that uh That chaos is extremely uncomfortable. Why anyone would choose chaos? And I would say that to the leadership of Memphis. Sanity and reasonableness is Is the only path forward when it comes to things of this nature. And people naturally choose reasonableness.
Well, I think it's a reasonable thing to say that you guys are going to be growing your ranks, and that's a wonderful thing. I think it's necessary, and it's exciting to see Republicans going into neighborhoods that traditionally you would not think to go into and spread that message about limited government and fiscal responsibility, schools, and getting the government out of our business. I think that's a. That's a great message. I agree.
Republican. And real quick, before we let you go, Rachel, I mean, you have had a storied career in politics. I was fascinated. You and I met officially, I think, in Collierville at a gathering. And just to share with our listeners a little bit about your background.
Yes, so my professional career was spent working in politics and government in Washington, D.C. And I had the pleasure of working for two previous speakers, three technically. One wasn't speaker, but would have been if we'd been in leadership. controlling Congress. And so I worked for Nate Gingrich when he was Speaker and then Denny Hastert after him for eight years.
And before that, two members from House members from Tennessee. But I was, you know, my Primary responsibilities were large events that were. Put on by the Congress. And so during those years that I was there, many heads of state. Uh Notable figures from our time.
I did several presidential funerals. I think I did 17 or 19 congressional gold medal ceremonies, and then I had an administrative role in the office.
So it was a really remarkable. Experience.
Well, we are so proud that you're leading the charge here with Republicans, and we are in good hands. Thank you. And, you know, again, government shutdown. You mentioned your daughter working up.
So I know poor Ben Dieter, because he's been calling me about every night. I'm like, I told you not to leave K-Wham. But the shutdown, it's insane. It is wild. And ironically, all these years later, I've always dreamed of taking my children and family to DC for the official Tourist trip.
And that was last week.
So after all these years, we did our family trip to DC during a government shutdown. Oh no.
So there was no White House for the walls and no capital. And I have a Have a daughter who's living there who is not getting paid. Oh, geez, a little.
Well, you know, if I'd have known, we could have given you a tour of the Newsmax Bureau.
So we could have at least done that. That would have been good. All right, Rachel, it's great to see you this morning. Thank you. All right, Rachel Walls, everybody, from the Republican Party of Shelby County.
And we are going to have to take a quick break here. We are broadcasting this morning from JoJo's Espresso. Come on out. We've already seen so many of our great listeners coming in, grabbing coffee, grabbing muffins, and breakfast. You're going to love it over here, folks.
It is so relaxing, so peaceful, and it is a great way to start your Friday. All right, our telephone number: 901-260-5926. This is Darn's Country. Let's check in with Commander Chuck. And welcome back, everybody.
This is Stern's Country, and we're broadcasting outside JoJo's Espresso. I think this may be the chillest place and the chilliest place that we broadcast. Come on by. People are coming in, flocking in, getting their coffee. We got to see Chuck, who won breakfast.
I paid for Chuck's breakfast, and he's over there drinking something very hot and eating something called Brisket on a Biscuit. And I'm not sure who came up with that name, but I love it, and I think I want some of it. Want to welcome into our principal Toyota studio, mobile studio, our good friend Kristen Hicks and Kristen New. We call you guys the Kristens. Lovingly, I hope.
Lovingly, folks. Always. Always. Absolutely. The housewives of Germantown.
Or the conservatives. Housewives of Germantown. I just put my hands in on something very sticky, so my apologies.
Okay. And my computer, my lamp. Top passed away. It gave up the ghost as we were sitting up this morning.
So we'll have a funeral. I'm a little discombobulated. And we also have another listener, Stan, who came by as well, hanging out with us, drinking something that looks very delicious as well. And tell me the story about Stan because you guys do something really cool here in Germantown.
So, the third Wednesday of every month, the Germantown Athletic Club, we have a coffee club there, and we host a birthday party for the veterans and for people who are members of the coffee club. We have people from age 100 down to me. I am in my 40s. And we eat birthday cakes. I make sausage balls every month.
And it's a way for people to fellowship and to come together and just to have a friendship because some people live by themselves and they need that kind of getting out into the community. And we foster that for them. I think that is such a wonderful thing that you guys are doing. And again, it goes back to the idea of this just being an incredible area of the country. And here we are in a city, and we were just talking to Rachel Wall, who I just love her.
She is so amazing. And she's kind of like y'all, right? She's out there fighting the good fight. And we were talking about vibe and the whole vibe change here in Memphis. Are you seeing that, Kristen?
Yeah. Absolutely. In fact, my husband and I finally went out of our bubble recently. We went downtown. We went to Idabina.
We had a lovely dinner. We saw a show, a concert. And there's just kind of a levity that exists now that wasn't there prior. I think people are feeling safer. It is safer.
And we're just incredibly grateful to have the federal forces here. It's amazing. I know our friend Shelly Chang. You know, she's out there. I think she lives in downtown.
She and her husband are out there all the time. And it's nice. to see others now going out there and really being a part. I think kudos to Channel 3. They went out there and interviewed all these people at the Grizzlies game, Kristen, you, and to a person, they're like, this is amazing.
You know what I love about that is that the people are giving props and gratitude towards the federal agents and the National Guard. They're here, even though the people at the top, our leadership is coming down hard on them and they are telling them that we don't want them. We are actually a bigger and stronger voice. They're saying, no, do not listen to them. Listen to us because we are the ones.
Who needs you? I want to talk to schools real quick here because we have two big stories. First of all, and this is just real quick: what's happening in DeSoto County, where you've got this woman. I mean, the charges that she was convicted of were just incredibly heinous. 60,000 text messages.
She's a sexual predator. She was a coach and worked at the church there, Getwell Church. And the judge said, You know, you look so nice and kind. You don't look like a threat to me. We're just going to put you on a house arrest.
The DA, Matthew Barton, great patriot, wanted 30 years and got the woman who got house arrests. Yesterday, Thomas Tuggle, the sheriff, came out, said, federal charges. She's already in custody. You will not be targeting our children in DeSoto County. Absolutely.
And it just goes to show that you don't know. Who is targeting kids? She does not, like you said, she does not look like your average predator, but she is, and she has to be. The book has to be thrown at her to the extent of the law that they can prosecute her. They need to do that.
We need to start making examples of these people when we can. And parents are rising up. I mean, and it wasn't just like, oh, yeah, it's like they turned out in droves with the torches and the pitchforks at school board meetings says, we're not going to tolerate school board members who defend sexual predators, and we're not going to tolerate teachers either. We understand one of the teachers will not be back in the classroom as a result of all this. Thank God.
And that's the power of the people right there.
So then here in Germantown, you guys have been fighting the good fight for years. And the things they have said about you, the elected leaders coming after you guys, and it turns out that you are right after all when it came to exactly how many kids are attending schools here in the Germantown area. A big report came out yesterday. Yeah, so Germantown schools have always been touted as. Best schools that you could possibly have in Shelby County, and those schools should be at 100% capacity with local children.
And that is the point of us getting our municipal schools is so that they could be locally run with local children. And what is happening is that they're seeing a hemorrhaging of kids who are choosing to either homeschool or to go private school. And so they are taking those empty seats and now replacing them with transfers. And Kristen, that was an issue for you and your family. You know, and again, you guys moved here, you are here for the schools, and you decided private schools.
We did. My daughter actually went to public schools here, and after that experience, we decided that that wasn't going to be the right course of action for my son.
So he attends Christian Brothers. And you know, what Kristen and I were talking about is if you drive around Germantown, you will see private school signs everywhere in homes that were historically very pro-public schools. All of a sudden, those signs for Dogwood and Houston High are replaced with ECS and Briar Crest and CDHS.
Something is going on. We have. And we've been talking about this for several years. Former PTA presidents pull their kids. We have former school board members pull their kids.
Yes. And it seems to me you've got far leftists on the school board. I hate to use that term, but it's true. When you look at their ideology, the school board does not really reflect the community here in Germantown. Am I off base there?
No, you're not off base, but we also have people who are disguising themselves as Republicans, but they're not voting like a Republican. CINOs, CINOs.
So what we had to do, we had to really push our party to put partisan school boards on the ballot.
So now for this 2026, when you go vote, you are going to see an R or a D.
Now, it doesn't mean that they are an R, but it gives you a little bit of hint as to who they are, and then you can do your own research. But before, we had no clue whatsoever. And we can hold them accountable. That's right. When they start voting against party lines, so we can hold them accountable with party values.
You know, that's the other big issue in Memphis with Memphis-Shelby County schools: that the parents have absolutely no representation, and you've got an incredibly rogue school board that all All of us have to pay for. That's right, and the school board is going against the parents, and the parents have got to start showing up. Like you said, it's the power of the people. Rachel Wall talked about that. The school board is not separate from the community.
The school board works with the community, but they have forgotten that, and I think it's up to us to remind them. Kristen New, Kristen Hanks, can y'all stick around for a second or two. All right, that music means we've got to scoot out for a quick break. Pamela Furr is going to join us as well from Nashville. Our telephone number: 901-260-5926.
We are at JoJo's Espresso. Come on by. Visit with us. This is Stardens Country on the Mighty 990. The questions start early.

All right, we're getting a little funky this morning with the music. Hello, everybody. Welcome back to Starnes Country. It is Friday, and man, it is going to be busy. I hope to see everybody out at the Christian Brothers game.
Little Starnes has one more game, I think, this and the next week, and just got accepted to. I'm sharing this info, Christians, just got accepted to Ole Miss.
So we're very excited about that. Estate, but I know we've got an Auburn, you know, Auburn fan of it. We got all the SEC representatives here. That's it, that's it. But anyway, we'll hope to see you and the starting channel.
We'll be out tailgating over at Christian Brothers today. And oh, I completely got discombobulated because I've only had one cup of coffee and my computer has died.
So I'm going to have to spend the afternoon over at the Apple store later today. We're excited to have with us here. We've got the Christens, who we affectionately call the conservative housewives of Germantown, and also on the Patriot Mobile Newsmaker line, and we're going to get to her in just one moment, Pamela Fur. But I've got to bring in Parker May, our KWM Sports Director, with a look at what's happening this weekend in the world of sports. I'm Barker May, and this is your KWAM Sports Update, presented by Ortho One Sports Medicine and Dr.
DeLabach. Week 8 of the NFL season got underway last night as the Chargers took down the Vikings 37-10. Washington Commander star quarterback Jaden Daniels will once again be out this week versus the Chiefs. My top games for Sunday are the Cowboys at the Broncos and the Packers at the Steelers. College Game Night heads the National this week as Vanderbilt hosts LSU.
The Memphis Tigers look to get back on track this week as they host number 18 South Florida in a huge conference game. Here are my quick picks for the week for matchups inside the top 25. I got old Miss defeating Oklahoma on the road, Vanderbilt, or Missouri. and text with A ⁇ M over LSU. In high school football, top games this week include Prior Crest at Livescombe Academy.
and a rivalry matchup between MUS and Christian Brothers. The MLB World Series gets underway tonight as the Los Angeles Dodgers take on the Toronto Blue Jays. First pitch will be at 7 p.m. I'm Parker May on the Mighty 990 K-WAM. All right, thanks a lot, Parker May.
And I want to go to the Patriot Mobile Newsmaker line. Say hello to our good friend, Pamela Furr from Americans for Prosperity, Tennessee. Pamela, hope things are going well up in Nash Vegas for you. They are. We are getting ready for college game day tomorrow.
I just heard your sports guy Talk about and say, yeah, they're going to be here for the Vanderbilt game. That should be a lot of fun.
Well, it is, you know, Vanderbilt has just, it's the first time they've been, what, under the. They're good. What happened? It's what, since the 1950s or something? My husband is a Vanderbilt.
Wow, yeah. He's thrilled. He's an enthusiastic. Oh, we love college football here.
Well, I'm not sure. A more eagle. Go big orange. Hotty-totty. I'll throw that into it.
Oh, my goodness.
So, ladies and Pamela, I want to start with you because Governor Lee put out a statement, I think it was late, late last night, announcing that SNAP benefits were going to be disrupted in the volunteer state. How big of a deal is that going to be? I think it's going to be a pretty big deal. And it's a touch twenty two for me because I think there are a lot of people who are receiving SNAP benefits who should not be receiving SNAP benefits.
So, this is an opportunity for those people to step up and maybe. get a job and start providing for themselves. On the other hand, there are families and there are people who really do need that assistance. And it's going to cause some major problems for them.
Now, as you well know, Tennessee is an incredible state who has. incredible volunteer organizations. that are planning on Filling in the gap. There's Feed America First, there's Second Hardest Food Bank, there's all kinds of organizations in this state. That will try to help those people that will be in need.
But yeah, it's going to cause some problems. It certainly is. You know, Kristens and Pamela, you're on the line with Kristen Hicks and Kristen New as we broadcast here at JoJo's Espresso in Germantown. Kristens, we were all talking about making sure we hit the grocery stores early because people are on the socials talking about what they're going to do. We may sound crazy to you, but I am telling you, I would go to the grocery store right now and stock up just in case that this goes on for an extended period of time because if people do not have food for an extended period of time, they are going to get desperate, especially if you're a single mom and you have kids to feed.
Now, whether or not you're supposed to be on snap or not is another conversation, but they are going to get cut off cold turkey. And I don't want to be there. It's going to feel like COVID all over again, where we run. It's going to feel like COVID again, where we run to the back of the store to grab the toilet paper and the meat and the provisions and the stores. I think that's what it is.
We've been through this before.
So now we're like, I don't want to do it. If I may, though, ladies, I mean, I'm curious why that would be the case because the SNAP benefits. That's the money to pay for it. How are these folks going to have money? to pay for the food.
To go grab it there at the grocery stores. They're talking about looting, Pamela. They're talking about they're hopping on the socials, talking about looting the stores. All right, so there's a lot of social media videos going out that's saying that they might not even loot the stores because that's going to be more dangerous for them. They're actually going to maybe loot the people in the parking lot or something.
So, you know, we live in Memphis, so we're kind of used to some of this crime going on.
So, you know, when we hear that, our little spidey senses go up and we take precautions around here. Yeah, I guess so. That's a little different than it is in Nashville. Wow. Wow.
But we do have the National Guard here, even though they're not getting paid. They are coming to work every day. They're not getting paid. And the other big issue is the TSA because TSA is in the same boat. They're not getting paid.
And as much as I have big problems with TSA, I was just at Memphis International. I didn't take a moment and just thank them because they're standing their post and they're doing their jobs, even though Schumer has shut down the government.
So, just a reminder: and I always tell them, I said, I'm so sorry the Schumer shutdown is a result of you not getting paid.
So, you know, vote for a lot of traffic controllers, too, Dodd. They're not getting paid either. That's true, and that is going. They are already warning. I think the Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy warned yesterday there will be some flight delays probably as soon as this weekend as a result of that.
Pamela Verd joining us on our Patriot Mobile newsmaker line. Pamela, I know you guys are working on a lot there at Americans for Prosperity, Tennessee. What you got going on?
Well, let me just say this. It doesn't have to be this way. None of this had to happen, as we all know.
Now, again, catch 22, I'm always looking for ways. To make government smaller, but it didn't have to happen this way.
So Americans for Prosperity, we've rolled out the make government work agenda. And it's a set of simple. common sense reforms. that would fix Washington's broken system. There are five bills.
And I'll just describe them real quick to you that we believe once Well, once the the the government once Congress goes back to work, uh they could pass these things and then none of this shutdown stuff has to happen anymore. What's called the uh reorganization government act. It would cut duplication. Streamline bureaucracy and allow our leaders to eliminate agencies that no longer serve taxpayers. That's one of them.
The Prevent Government Shutdowns Act. Which would make Congress stay in DC until they finish the annual budget bills. and keep federal services working in the meantime, I think that would be a fantastic one to pass. The Rains Act. It ensures that costly job-killing regulations.
can't be pushed through without approval from elected representatives. RAINS stands for regulations from the Executive and Need of Scrutiny Act. It would allow those bureaucrats to step aside and actually let those who we elected make the decision on not only your money, but the agencies. the Midnight Rules Relief Act. It stopped.
politicians from ramming through last-minute rules. on their way out the door when voters can no longer hold them accountable and let's see, I I think I I forgot one, the Comprehensive Congressional Budget Act. it gets Congress to review the entire federal budget instead of in piecemeal.
So if they would just pass these bills, then what's happening right now would never, ever happen again. And so that's what we're working on to make government work again. And you can find that at Americans for Prosperity.org. You know, Pamela, I love all of that stuff. And again, limited government.
You know, one of the things, and I'll bring the Kristens into this part of the conversation. Marjorie Taylor Greene, pretty upset with leadership right now. She says they ought to be there. They ought to be working nonstop getting this legislation through, codifying President Trump's agenda. And it's like we're in this massive holding pattern again because of the shutdown.
But I am concerned about divisions that are starting to happen within the party. We've got the midterms coming up, and the American people gave Republicans the majority for a reason. Right. That's the one thing that the Democrats have always done better than the Republicans is that they've always stuck together. And they've created this wall that you could not penetrate.
And the Republicans, and I think, and I think I know why, Todd, I think it's a positive thing. I think it's because we are actually free thinkers and we don't do the group think.
So we don't do that.
So even though we may have different ideas about stuff, I think at the end of the day, I think we are going to coalesce together, though, because we have to. Pamela, your take there in Nashville, I know you do a lot with state politics and you're at the Capitol. Of course, we have a supermajority there at the state house. Are you seeing that there as well? These divisions?
Yeah, I I do see the divisions, but I think when it com when it Like she said, when it all comes down to it, when it's time to make those decisions, I mean, we're divided when we're talking and hitting socials and that kind of thing, but when the rubber meets the road, I think Republicans finally get together and say, okay, this is what we need to do. to make sure that Donald Trump's agenda does get Pass. Um we've seen that here with the the race for the Congressional seven, right? District number seven. In that race, Mark Green left, and so we've got a special election there.
And the primary was a little divided. You had some heated arguments. But when it all comes down to it, when we have that special election in December, we're all coming together behind Matt Dan Epps is the guy. for that special election.
So I agree I agree with your guest there. Uh I think w uh we all come together when when it's Fine. All right, Pamela Fur, have a great weekend. Are you going to the game? That's the big question.
Are you going to see the Doors play? I'm going to watch the doors play. I'm not going to actually go to the game. You know, in Nashville, I don't know if you guys have this problem in Memphis, but in Nashville, Traffic is always an issue, and I have to deal with that every single dang day during the week. I don't want to have to deal with it on the weekends.
So, I'm going to stay at home. I'm going to make a pot of chili, and I'm going to watch football all day long tomorrow, including that Vanderbilt game, so I don't have to deal with traffic. Do I sound lady when I say that? No, you sound very sensible.
So, all right, Pamela Furr, great hearing from you. Our good friend Pamela Furr here on The Mighty 990. All right, we've got to take a quick break, everybody. Before we head to break, let's check in with Aiden. Pettit has your local entertainment report.
Aiden. And welcome back, everybody. This is Darn's Country, and we are broadcasting from JoJo's Espresso. Non-stop traffic, everybody. I mean, Folks are coming in, grabbing their coffee, grabbing some great food.
I've seen one person eating something healthy. Everybody else is doing the biscuits, the bagels, which I didn't realize this, ladies. I became a bagel fan when I was in New York City. And just, again, I was a biscuit guy all of my life. And mid-career, I've been.
What do they put in the bagels at New York? Because it is better than everybody else. It's the water. It's the water. It's the water.
It's the water. It's so good. Yeah. The way better, better bagels are Memphis. Bagels ain't your thing.
But still, I mean, but the bagels here are actually made in Memphis, and they're actually really good.
So everything here is homemade. It's not like, you know, store-bought or whatever, which is one of the things I really love.
Well, I have a, you know, you can't eat healthy when it's this cold. You have to have some warm, good soul food. I don't want a banana when it's freezing. Give me a warm biscuit and butter. Exactly.
I got a text message from Dieter. We sent him a care package because the poor kid's not getting paid. You know, you feel bad. He's sleeping on the floor as it is. I mean, we finally got a bed.
I'm so excited. Yes. I don't know how these kids, you know, this is what's funny. Our government is basically run by 25-year-olds. I mean, at the end of the day, that's the best.
Well, that's the problem. That's the problem. 25-year-olds are like 95-year-olds. Exactly. So we sent Dieter a care, a little gift card to the Whole Foods, and I'm like, what are you doing?
He goes, I'm eating berries and running. And I'm like, you should be eating like. Why he weighs 95 pounds. Thank you very much. Thank you very much.
Oh, my goodness.
So, we're having a great time out here. Come on out, and we love supporting businesses that support the mission of K-Wham. And that's one of the neat things to do. Get out here, say hello to our listeners, and also do our best to support locally owned, locally run businesses. And one of the things about JoJo is we had the owner on yesterday, and I know that Taylor's inside, you know, busy as all get out, but.
The story behind the coffee shop named after their child who had what turned out to be a terminal heart condition. And now they're spreading. I know they've got one of the hospitals, I believe St. Francis or LeBonner, one of the hospitals, they've got Germantown. Germantown.
And they've got a little coffee shop there. And so they're really a great community-focused coffee. Coffee house. The only reason why I know is because I unfortunately had to go there and I was like, oh, JoJo's.
So that was the bright. Little light in that little hospital that we were going through something. But I will say, if you build it, they will come because JoJo's used to be across the parking lot in this little tiny little area. And once they moved over to the old nukes, Their business has been incredible. It's insane.
It's insane. And I think that just goes, again, it's that community spirit. And when you walk in there, you don't want to leave, right? You just want to go to the bottom. It is.
It's great. It's beautiful. It's decorated. It looks like professionally decorated. You guys have your like your own.
You know, in New York City at Sardis, they have like photos of all the celebs on the walls, and they have like little booths. Do you guys have that? I mean, the Christians? Maybe we need to. We love to have our meetings here.
We have outreach meetings for the Republican Party.
So we come here and we usually have to come and steak out a table because, as Kristen said, there's always lines. It's always busy here. It is a great little community, true community coffee shop. By the way, Cassie, turn your microphone on for just a moment back at the studio. Cassie, our great board op.
Cassie, it is your birthday today. This is exciting. Thank you guys. Yeah. Were you surprised?
I think we decorated the studio for you. Yeah, I came in and I the all the lights were off still, and I whacked my face in the cute little party streamers that you guys put over the door and you guys decorated the whole control room. That was so sweet of you guys.
Well, happy birthday.
So, does Mr. Producer, does he have like big plans for you tonight? Yeah, he's gonna take me out to dinner, and then we're gonna go get dessert. Very nice. And you know, he's a musician in town.
I don't know if we can share that, but he is a musician in town. Yes, he is. And very talented and plays drums. Yes, he does. Very well.
Well, we're excited for you. Do you want us to get you anything from JoJo's? I'm actually going to run over right after I get off the board. The everything bagel croissant is really sublime. I highly recommend that on your birthday.
I'm going to get that.
Okay. All right, Cassie, thank you. Happy birthday. We'll see you back in the studio or at JoJo's momentarily. We've got to talk about Scare on the Square.
Yeah, we're just getting our weekend started, Todd. I mean, this is like day one of Crazy Weekend because we have Scare on the Square tomorrow, and that is from 12 to 3 in Cyreville. And we're just having a little dance party for the kids out at our tent. We're handing out candy. It's super fun.
Bring your kids. They dress up in Halloween costumes. It is safe and it is a great family-oriented little activity. But then Sunday, we have something going on, too.
So. Yeah, so we're actually doing through with Britt Taylor, we're going to feed the FBI agents and the National Guard and the U.S. Marshals and the U.S. Marshals at Mullen Station. Uh we have Joanna Young and Bob Young.
They are residents here in Germantown. Uh they run the cop stop, and so we are doing a cop stop For the so we're not really doing it with the Republican Party, it's really through CopStop. But we're going to feed them because we know they are not getting paid.
Well, that is such a great thing, and we'll get you guys on to talk more about that next week. Sure, yeah, and we'll tell you how it went. Folks, we got to leave it there. It's been a lot of fun. Tomorrow, Scare in the Square, 11 o'clock, we're going to scare Democrats on the Todd Stern Show.
That'll be fun. Hang out with us, everybody. Come on out to JoJo's. Have a great weekend, Mid South.
