From the Mighty 990 Broadcast Center, you're waking up in Starnes Country with Todd Starnes.
Well, hello, everybody. Hope you are having a great start to your morning. I want to say hello to all of our friends over at Rise Biscuits, getting some righteous chicken this morning to start your day. We are broadcasting this morning from the principal Toyota Memphis studio. I am Todd Stearns.
Great to have you with us, lovely Miss Cassie working the board today. Just a couple of programming notes as we get started with the conversation today. Many of you have been sending us notes about the Charlie Kirk Memorial Service that's going to be happening in Arizona on Sunday. Sunday, and we will be broadcasting that live exclusively here on the Mighty 990. All of that will be starting at 12:30 our time.
So, 12:30 on the Mighty 990, we're going to be interrupting regular programming to bring you live, anchored coverage, and it will be uninterrupted. There will be no commercial breaks. We're broadcasting this from start to finish without any breaks at all. Among the speakers, President Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, Ben Shapiro is going to be there, Glenn Beck, Megan Kelly, as well as many others.
So, we will keep you updated on all of that. Also, just want to bring to your attention as well the guest host of the Charlie Kirk Show today here on the Mighty 990. And the guest host will be Megan Kelly.
So, you'll be able to listen to Megan later on. We carry Charlie late night so the young people of the Mid-South can listen while they're doing their homework. Or just chilling out later in the evening. Again, I want to go back and give you a list of the speakers at Charlie's Memorial Service, and you will hear this live on the Mighty 990: President Trump, Erica Trump. I'm sorry, Erica Kirk, Vice President J.D.
Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of War Pete Hagseff, Tucker Carlson, Stephen Miller, and many others.
So, again, all of that starting, our anchored coverage starting at 12:30 on Sunday, and you'll be able to hear that right here on the body 990. Also, another big event happening today: the Republican Party of Shelby County welcoming the National Guard to Memphis. That is today, 6 o'clock. And here's the deal: We need you to show up.
So, Memphis needs to be there today. I don't care what's going on, what you got on the agenda. You got to be there 6 o'clock. This is at Briarcrest Avenue across from Mission Church.
So, it's the big parking lot. You'll see all the folks with flags wearing the red, white, and blue. Come on by 6 o'clock. You're going to be hearing from a lot of different folks. Yours truly is going to be speaking.
And it is going to be a lot of fun as we show our support for President Trump's Memphis Safe Task Force.
So we need you out there today, 6 o'clock. We'll be reminding you of that. Again, we've got to make Memphis matter. We've got to make Memphis safe again. And one of the ways we're going to do that is coming together as a group of people to show our support and to send a message.
To send a message that the Mid-South is actually excited about having the National Guard in town. And you know, one of the things that I find absolutely Fascinating here is that when you look at the national coverage, by and large, and you got to give credit to the national news reporters because they're actually broadcasting and interviewing citizens who are thrilled. Thrilled. That the National Guard is coming, contrary to the reporting locally, where you have a lot of these TV stations in town, and they're trying to go out of their way to goad and ask leading questions, trying to get the citizens to say that they don't want the National Guard here. Listen to cut number eight, please.
I am a citizen here and yes, I do believe that the guards coming here is really necessary because this city really needs cleaning up. Yeah, it does. That lady lives in Orange Mound, and she's excited about what's happening here. Here's another story about a Memphis mom whose child was killed just three months ago. Take a listen.
Ravonda Ligan's 23-year-old son, John Ryan Ingram, was shot and killed trying to break up a fight nearly three months ago. If they're going to be a buffer, between them and the police to help minimize the crime, then that's a great thing. It's an incredible thing, ladies and gentlemen, an absolutely incredible thing. And, you know, I think the most shocking thing of all was Congressman Steve Cohen, who came out and actually commended the FBI, commended the FBI for their work in Memphis. I was stunned, folks.
Stunned that KFC Cohen came into the FBI yesterday. Take a listen. Director Patel, I believe you had primary importance in starting Operation Viper in Memphis. Is that correct? Yes, sir.
You you did a good job and and At least director and the mayor have told me that that has been helpful. The FBI working with the police. And the FBI are trained. In law enforcement. They know Miranda rights.
They know how to do policing, and they do a good job working with the police. And I commend you for what you did, and I think the FBI coming in, we have a crime problem in Memphis. The FBI has helped. DEA will help and the ATF will help. I don't think the National Guard is going to help.
And what I've seen, they're not trained in they're not trained in law enforcement, are they? No, sir. And so that could be a problem. Have you visited Memphis before? Yes, sir, I have.
So you know how good a city it is. I love Memphis. A lot of us do. And Memphis is a great city. Great history.
Civil Rights Museum. might say something about slavery, but that was the history. Needs to be taught. Blues, El Street, Beale Street, Rice, BBQ. We love our city and we hope that the National Guard doesn't come in and cause people to heaven.
questions about Memphis because it's the city they should visit. All right, all right. I get it. I get the whole National Guard thing. All right, that's let's set that aside for a moment.
First of all, appreciate the congressman saying nice things about Memphis. We do appreciate it. And again, saying good things about the FBI and the work of the FBI here. But I want to give you guys a little lesson here on local media bias. We talk about it a lot, but this is a real-time story.
If you go over to the Daily Memphians website right now, you will see that what we just talked about is the lead story. But their angle is that the story for them was that Steve Cohen was angry about the National Guard coming to Memphis. And when I'm scrolling through the story here, Not once, not once, do I see any quotes about Congressman Cohen praising the FBI, thanking the FBI for their work, or the fact that. That Congressman Steve Cohen, the far-left radical Democrat, actually acknowledged in the halls of Congress on national TV. that Memphis has a crime problem.
The Daily Mythian left all of that out of their story. My question is, why did they do that? Why did they think that was not an important thing to point out? By the way, our local suburban police departments, they are throwing down the hammer and laying down the law.
So we already heard from DeSoto County Sheriff Thomas Tuckel, who's out there saying, you crossed that state line and you're coming here and you're a thug, you're going to jail. In West Memphis, The police chief there, Robin Campbell, sending this message, and I want to read this: if you cross the Mississippi. to bring crime into West Memphis. Here's what's going to happen. You're going to find out fast you'd rather deal with the National Guard than us.
They're not playing around. And I don't know if West Memphis is being forced by Governor Sarah Hugabee Sanders to take a forceful stand, or this is just who they are. But I'm telling you, they're not joking around, folks. They are not joking around.
So while the citizens of Memphis are overwhelmingly excited about the National Guard coming to town, Our elected leaders are enraged about it. The county commission all upset. Erica Sugarman, I don't want tanks on my street.
So, would you rather have the gangbangers with the AK-47s, ma'am? Is that what you would rather have? In your community, because that's what you got right now. Hate to break it to you. The city council next week is going to be introducing a resolution sponsored by Jerry Green, and they are calling on the governor to ban the National Guard from stepping foot in the Bluff City.
That's not going to work because unlike Unlike the federal judges, the city council's got no power over Donald J. Trump. none whatsoever.
So the National Guard's coming to town, and it seems to me the first order of business is to surround City Hall and allow the FBI to get in there and start doing their homework and their investigations because something smells mighty fishy. At Memphis City Hall. All right, we're going to take a quick break here before we do introducing a brand new feature. Here on The Morning Show, Aiden Pettit every Thursday and Friday will be bringing you a look at what's happening entertainment-wise here in the Mid-South. Once again, bringing local news, information, and resources to you.
That's what we're doing here in Starns Country. Here's Aiden Pettit: From Unsolved Mysteries to Unexplained Phenomena. From comedy goal to relationship fails, Amazon Music's got the most ad-free top podcasts, included with Prime. Download the Amazon Music app today. All right, good morning, Memphis.
This is Starnes Country. I'm Todd Stearns and the Principal Toyota Memphis Studio. Great to have you with us.
Well, had a chance to sit down with Senator Marcia Blackburn. Before we get to that interview, though, just a reminder about tonight, again, 6 o'clock. That's 6 o'clock tonight. This is in the parking lot across from Mission Church. And there is going to be a huge welcome to Memphis rally for the National Guard.
We want you to come out there, sponsored by the Republican Party of Shelby County. We're going to have some speakers. It's going to be patriotic, family-friendly.
So we want you to bring out your family, but we've got to have a huge crowd out there to say, welcome, welcome to Memphis. And thank you, President Trump. Thank you, Mr. President, for sending the National Guard to the Bluff City. All right, let's check in now.
Here is the conversation we had on Newsmax with Senator Blackbird. Senator, you had a front row view to all of this. Your reaction to Akash Patel's testimony today covered a lot of subjects. He was incredibly well prepared, and he didn't give in to the Democrats. You know, I thought it was so fascinating.
They actually sat at the dais and complained that Cache Patel was taking FBI agents who've been sitting behind a desk for years, and he is sending them out to do work in the field. Actually fighting and investigating crime. You know, the Democrats would rather have people that are sitting at a desk than have them out in the field doing their job. They are that given to the bureaucracy. You know, Senator, we also learned today that from Senator Chuck Grassley that the FBI under the previous administration had specifically been targeting conservative organizations, including Turning Point USA and Charlie Kirk.
Your reaction to that.
Well, it is so distressing to hear, but it's not surprising. Arctic Frost was an investigation that an agent who was obviously a Democrat who was seeking to weaponize the FBI against a political opponent, Donald Trump. And so, what they did was to develop this agent, this program, where they were going to monitor certain Republican organizations and certain Republicans. And then they would use that information to come after Donald Trump. And this is what they used to actually pull together a basis, they thought, for Jack Smith to investigate Donald Trump.
So it just shows you there is no There's just no limit. to what they're going to do to try to go at conservatives. And if they can weaponize the federal government and not get caught, they're going to do it. When they feel like they're getting caught, they're going to quickly resign. like T-Bolt did after he was found out on Arctic Frost, go ahead and resign from the FBI so that they can preserve their pensions and try to preserve their reputations.
Senator, the rhetoric coming from the left and especially these university campuses, you've been all over this. Of course, you were the target of a death threat just a few weeks ago from a university student. What do we do here? How do we fix what is broken in our universities? And one of the things that we are going to have to review, that university presidents and chancellors need to review, is the curriculum, what courses are they offering, who are they hiring.
to actually teach those? And then why are these individuals getting tenure? You know, the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, the professor that was terminated was the professor for queer anthropology. That is what they were teaching. teaching.
And then you have another university, ETSU, that could put their professors on administrative leave. There were two of them, but they were barred from terminating them immediately because they had tenure.
So these are all all Hey. policies that need to be up for review. And I think the Tennessee General Assembly is planning to take these issues up this year. People have been astounded that you would have a university professor who is cheering a political assassination. And that professor is someone who is standing in front of students in the classroom.
Todd, I cannot tell you how my phone was blowing up from people who were livid that this was happening and that we had people on our university campuses that were conducting themselves in this manner. Senator, real quick, yesterday, huge day for you in the White House, the Oval Office with President Trump, and of course the President announcing that the National Guard is coming to Memphis. I will tell you, as a citizen of Memphis, you're going to be getting a hero's welcome as well, because it was really you forcing that issue that I think led the President to make the decision. What do you expect to see, and what is your message to, for example, the police chief and the mayors, the leadership here in the Memphis area? This is a multi-pronged approach, an interagency approach to helping Memphis with the crime issue.
I gave Cash Patel when he first came to see me the stats, the crime stats, 2024 stats for Memphis. And I said, this is a fabulous city, a historic city, wonderful people. We need to work on this crime issue. And he gave me a public commitment when he was before us for his confirmation hearing. And I will tell you, he has been true to his word.
Operation Viper was very successful, over 500 arrests, over 100 indictments. And now phase two. Of this project and getting this crime under control is to bring in the DEA and the U.S. Marshals and the ATF and Homeland Security and Department of Justice and the Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Todd, all working together, having the National Guard there to support the Memphis Police Department to help them.
So that they have the ability to continue with the arrest. You know, Memphis has 100 gangs. And there are a lot of gangsters that are out there that need to be apprehended.
So if the National Guard can help with logistics and traffic and desk work and some of those components to free up law enforcement officers to make these arrests, that is a very good thing. I understand that the Shelby County jail is full, and I think they're going to have even more of a crowding situation. All right, there you go. Senator Marcia Blackburn. We were texting last night.
There's a crazy story out of Morristown. They literally banned a group of citizens from holding a Charlie Kirk vigil there in the downtown green space. They said no political events, no religious events allowed. And of all places, Morristown, Tennessee. Unbelievable.
Thank God we've got great leaders like the folks over in Collierville who opened up the town square to several thousand people for our vigil and Germantown. Got to take a break here. Randy Hutchison from the Better Business Bureau coming up. Also, the Shelby County GOP. This is Stardens Country.
It is a busy day across the mid-south. Hello, everybody. I'm Todd Starns. We are broadcasting from the principal Toyota Memphis studio. Want to say hello to all of our great friends out there.
That are going to be joining us again tonight, 6 o'clock. The Republican Party of Shelby County having a big party to celebrate the National Guard coming to Memphis at 6 o'clock tonight. That is at the parking lot across Bradcrest Avenue from Mission Church.
So if you need directions, just search for Mission Church and then look for all the American flags. You'll see us out there. Also, coming up on Sunday, 12 noon, 12 noon.
So you're getting out of church unless you're Southern Baptist and the preacher goes along. 12 noon, and you'll be able to listen to our live coverage of Charlie Kirk's Memorial Service. We will have wall-to-wall, anchored coverage, no commercial breaks.
So we hope that you will join us for that incredible service. President Trump, among those that will be speaking.
Well, we're always honored on Thursdays to welcome our good friend Randy Hutchison from the Better Business Bureau of the Mid-South, keeping all of us safe and protecting our bank account. And our passwords and usernames and all that sort of stuff. Randy, good to have you with us. Good morning. Trying to do that anyway.
No, no, no. You do a great job of it. Look, I've taken your advice every Thursday, and I think I'm a pretty secure person now.
Okay, good. But let's talk about this two-factor authenticity. Again, verifying, and I hate this. It is a pain in the rear end, but you say it's necessary, but even that may not be enough. You know, I remember the time, you probably remember the time, Todd, when the only number, PIN number, or whatever I had to remember was to my ATM card.
That was it.
Now I've got to have a password and a username for all of my accounts. Uh and unfortunately, even that is not enough. security these days to prevent hackers from getting into our accounts. Uh couple of reasons. Crooks employ different tactics to compromise our usernames and passwords.
You probably get everybody gets these phishing attacks or text messages where they're trying to tell you there's some urgent problem with your bank account. We're the bank. You need to authenticate who you are, and then we're going to help you fix the problem. Of course, they've tricked you into giving them your username and password in a process called credential stuffing. Credential stuffing.
Hackers exploit the human nature To reuse passwords, By attempting to access accounts using the usernames and passwords, they've gotten in some other means. They may have hacked into one of your accounts or may have gone on the dark web. This information is out there on the dark web, got your or my username and password. For one account, and then they go into, they may break into the database of a bank or some other account and just keep flooding it with the same passwords because a lot of people will use the same password across multiple accounts. It is just, it's hard to imagine they go to that much trouble to do this and to gain access to all of our private accounts.
But when they do, I mean, it's bad news. It's a matter of numbers. I mean, with the computing power these days, and I guess AI, we've talked about AI will probably make it even easier. I don't thoroughly understand AI. But with the computer power the computer power they have these days, they can hit a database and flood it with millions and millions of attempts and all they have to do is hit a few and hit a few that maybe have some large dollar balances and they loot the money and you're in trouble.
We have, I've noticed one thing about seniors in the mid-south, and we have a lot that listen to the mighty 990. Kirby Pines, want to give those folks a shout out. And of course, Farms at Bailey Station, lots of other places. And I've noticed that a lot of people who are downloading our app, and we have 5,000 or 6,000 people that download the app, most of them are in their, a lot of them are in their 70s, 80s, 60s.
So they're savvy. They're digitally savvy. But even being digitally savvy, it's important to understand what two-factor authentication is all about. And most people have probably seen it. May not recognize the name.
It's also called Multi-Factor Authentication Two-Step. verification. But accounts with two factor authentication require you to enter an additional credential.
Some maybe even more than one additional one, but at least generally one additional credential in addition to your username and your password. The most common one that I see. Uh it is uh Once you log in with your password, your username and your password, you get a message that says, we're going to send a code to your phone. Assuming your phone is secure, by the way, there's other issues there.
Somehow it's been compromised, but generally it's safe, so they send you this. Six-digit number that you have to then enter into the account, and at that point, you get access to all of your information.
So a crook. Or a hacker who's managed to get your username and password still can't get into your account if they don't have that additional aut authentication factor. And as long as it's being, for example, in this case, texted to your phone and you have your phone and they haven't compromised it, you should be okay. According to Microsoft, Two-factor authentication can block Uh oh almost, for all intents and purposes, 100% of a countercompromise attack. Wow.
That many.
Well, we do that here. I know our IT team here at KWAM, and because we're susceptible on so many different levels, even getting into our building, we put in this little thing where you have to show your finger, you know, your fingerprints.
So, you know, I noticed that even some, you know, some digital websites will do facial identity as a more real. We'll talk a little bit about other forms of two-factor authentication, most of which, like what you're talking about, get way over my head, but are other forms of it. But you know, another method, and really a lower tech method, you may not be asked to enter a code. You may have been asked when you set up the account to respond to certain security questions. And then, when you enter, you put in your username, your password, then they came back and asked you one of these questions.
Some of the most common ones: a mother's maiden name, the high school you graduated from, those aren't very secure. Uh All that information, frankly, is available. People who want to do the research can find it probably on social media or the internet. But actually, some experts say, go ahead and answer that question, but give a phony answer. Just be sure you remember it.
So I graduated from a school called Richard Montgomery in Maryland.
Well, maybe I'd say Woodrow Wilson.
So we have, I've seen these before, and we actually do the Google Authenticator. But do those things work, those authentication apps that are on our phones? Yes.
Now, again, we are really into the bits and the bytes, and I don't thoroughly, I understand six-digit access code, but yes, some accounts let you use an authenticator app on your phone, your computer, like Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, to generate the additional verification code. And then there's additional authentication use of a security key, which is a physical device that uses encryption to verify it's associated with the account. And then you mentioned biometric sorts of keys and other things that get real sophisticated. All right, well, let's talk about, as we ramp things up here, guidance here on two-factor authentication. What would you recommend for the K-WAM listing audience?
A lot of accounts and an increasing number of accounts require it. But if it's some still make it optional, if they make it optional, do it. Sign up for it and use multi-factor authentication. I think this is so brilliant. Very practical guidance here coming from Randy Hutchison at the Better Business Bureau.
And Randy, if people want to get more information on the great work you guys are doing protecting consumers here in the Mid-South, where do they need to go?
Well, the easiest way to check out a business, file a complaint about a business, follow a review, good or bad. Many of the people file good reviews about local businesses. Come to BBB.org. You can do that on a company anywhere in the country or call us 759-1300 or 800-222-8754. The great Randy Hutchison every Thursday, right here on the Mighty 990, giving us some pretty practical things that we can use to protect our bank accounts, to protect our families, and to make sure that our wallets are protected as well.
Randy, always good seeing you, sir. Good, thank you. All right, we've got to take a break. By the way, just a reminder: a lot of folks don't realize that I actually do a three-hour show every day, Monday through Friday, right here on the Mighty 990, 11 o'clock. It is a national show.
We're on more than 170 radio stations around the nation, and we would love for you to be a part of the conversation.
So, again, set yourself a reminder for 11 o'clock, the Todd Stern show, right here on the Mighty 990. We've got to take a break. When we come back, we'll be checking with our friends at the Republican Party of Shelby County, talking about the big event tonight, 6 o'clock, welcoming the National Guard to the Mid-South. We'll be right back. And welcome back, everybody.
This is Starnes Country. Busy day around here. Let's go to our Patriot mobile newsmaker line and say hello to our good friend Rachel Wall. She is the first vice chair of the Shelby County Republican Party. Rachel, good to have you with us this morning.
Thanks, Todd. I'm excited to be here. Thanks for having me.
So, this is going to be a lot of fun. You guys are throwing a big shindig, and I always felt like conservatives throw better parties. What's happening tonight at 6 o'clock across from Mission Church?
So we're going to have a press conference welcoming the National Guard to Memphis. We want to present the glaring distinction between Republicans and Democrats in the city. While they spend their time fear-mongering and deceiving, their constituents. Republicans are looking for real solutions for the crime problems that are plaguing our community And we're committed to it. And so we're thrilled the National Guard's coming.
We want to welcome them with open arms. And that's the point of today. There it The distinction needs to be shown, and we want to do that. You know, I think not only are the Democrats complicit, I think some of the media are as well. I mean, when you have Congressman Steve Cohen announcing from the committee room in Washington, D.C.
on Capitol Hill that Memphis has a crime problem and you don't report that, that is complicit in what I think is a cover-up of how bad things really are here in the Mid-South. I agree. You know, we've always believed as a party that with the right leadership. adequate resources Et cetera, that Memphis can be one of the greatest cities in the nation, but you can't be a great city if your residents are too afraid to go to the grocery store. And so the again, it's about deceiving.
You can continue to deflect. And say that you have it under control, but we all know full well it is not under control. And so I'm grateful that the President And our leadership across the state are putting words to action and sending us the help that we actually need. Rachel, I'm curious to get your take on the citizens and the reaction. You know, the national media is in town.
They've been interviewing a lot of folks in places like Whitehaven and Orange Mound and Raleigh-Fraser area. And to a person, the citizens are overwhelmingly grateful.
Meanwhile, the Democrats who are in charge are enraged. Yeah, I it's a little bit. It it blows my mind, if I'm being honest. I don't know if they are truly as out of touch with local Memphians as they seem to be? Or if it's just a campaign on their part, again, to deceive.
But like you, every single person That I have seen who has been willing to comment on the arrival of the National Guard. Everyone is in full support, top to bottom. And so I I find it confusing, but all the more reason that we need this presser today. because we want to be loud and proud about how grateful we are that they're coming. And again, you're wanting folks to bring signs, flags.
If you've got a lawn chair, I guess, bring a lawn chair. It's not going to be a long gathering, but I think the point is here to make a statement and to send a message to the rest of the country as well. Absolutely. Show of strength. Um yes.
Make a san. Do it the old fashioned way. Um Have your kids make a sign, bring your flags. We expect a great turnout. 6 o'clock, again, parking lot across from Mission Church in East Memphis.
We're really excited about it. Rachel Wall joining us from the Republican Party of Shelby County. Rachel, you were at the vigil in Collierville, just a remarkable crowd. And I was just so impressed with a number of young people that are coming out. What are you guys doing to let these young people know, you know what, there is another way here, and really teaching them about conservative values and what it means to be a conservative?
I'll tell you, Todd, I was so proud of my town. I thought the vigil on Sunday afternoon was excellent. I was thrilled by the turnout. And I think that what I'm seeing across the young people in our community is they crave Uh They crave uh Ministries, if you will, for lack of a better word, like what Charlie Kirk was doing. Um and I think that maybe Even when they couldn't articulate it before.
They're realizing, yes, this is what I want to be a part of. And so I hope that we as a community, we as a party, can seize on this current momentum. and really find ways to plug our local youth in to this movement. Um you know, that would be a wonderful outcome of this remarkable tragedy. I'm with you 1,000% there.
And to see the vigils happening all across the Mid-South, I know Tipton County, the Republican Party, they're hosting a gathering this coming Sunday. We'll tell you more about that tomorrow. But again, I think this is almost, and I don't mean to be cliche here, but I think it's almost a turning point for Memphis, what you guys are doing, and then bringing the National Guard to town. And I really hope people step back. And here's where I'm at, Rachel.
I am a card-carrying Republican, but if my party wasn't following my values, I would not be one. And so I think a lot of folks on the Democrat side of the aisle who voted Democrat their whole lives, they really need to step back and analyze the situation in Memphis and wonder: am I really doing a good job here with my vote? I agree. Listen, the water's warm, and there's room for anybody. who who feels like Like maybe the party they've been associated with all of this time may not feel like home anymore.
Um We'd love to have our numbers grow. And I think that real change can occur in Memphis if more folks will, you know, as you said, be willing to say. I think I'm different. I think that my philosophy has changed. Love it.
All right, Rachel, we're going to have to leave it there, but we will see you tonight, 6 o'clock. And it's family friendly, right? We want moms, dads, kids, grandma, grandpa. Yep, bring everybody. Bring the crazy uncle if you got one in the attic.
So we all right. Rachel Wall, ladies and gentlemen, from the Republican Party of Shelby County. Rachel, thank you for what you guys are doing. We really do appreciate your great work. We appreciate you.
Thank you. All right. There you go, folks. I will be out there. It's going to be a lot of fun.
6 o'clock. We're going to be welcoming the National Guard to Memphis, Briarcrest Avenue, across from Mission Church. Let's go to the phone lines. Our good friend, Richard Archie, see Richard Archie from the Tennessee Firearms Association. Richard, what's going on, sir?
Well I just want to speak about what's happening in Memphis down there. I'm keeping a pretty close eye because whatever happens in Memphis. Transfers right up by forty to Jackson and So being as I live in that community. What happens in Memphis matters to us as well?
Well I'm looking at the total number of arrests we've had. Last week when I got my last piece of data, there were 500. A hundred of those arrests were federal indictments and will be prosecuted. The other 400 are going to be left to the design. designs to be handled by the Attorney District Attorney General down there in that judicial district, and that's Steve Mulroy now.
His penchant for these type things in the past is to just send them home with nothing. I think the community needs to understand that with the amount of money that's coming out of our pocket tax-wise. from the state and the federal government that's being extended To handle this situation.
Okay. all of us in West Tennessee. We need to have a lot of attention paid to the District Attorney General. And what he's going to do was The gift that's been given him by Trump coming in here with FBI agents and all these folks. working to Make Memphis matter and to make it safer.
I think that's something that has to be front and center. attention paid to it. Rock Mile. Yeah, no doubt about that. And I was having some conversations with folks in Nashville, up at the state capitol, and there is a big problem.
And we've got to convince the Speaker of the House, Cameron Sexton, to move forward on this legislation to remove Mulroy. I mean, that has to happen. But unfortunately, Republican leadership, they have blocked it, and we're going to have to do something about that.
So, Richard, I appreciate you bringing attention to that. And we're going to get you back on later on this week or definitely next week to talk about this issue because it's not going away. And you've got a great point. Again, the issue here is the police are making the arrest, but the district attorney and these radical judges, the judicial commissioners, are putting these people right back out on the streets. All right, we've got to leave it there.
Again, 11 o'clock, the Todd Stern show, right here on the 9990. We'll be talking about the big issues of the day. And then tonight, Sunday. 6 o'clock, Mission Church, across the parking lot across the Mission Church. Join us as we welcome the National Guard to Memphis.
Folks, get out there. You be safe. Have a great day, Memphis.
