I am wearing a blue shirt that matches the color scheme of the program perfectly. Yes, you know, I am. And as Brockman always notices, maybe a maybe an extra button too many, you know, but open.
It's OK. I'm feeling good about myself. I'm all the way buttoned. I know you're kind of again.
Again, I could go open. Everyone gives me grief about that. But I mean, I got to be. Why do they give you grief? Because you're wearing a sweater underneath.
I don't like that with the shirt all mammal, Rich. They just don't like the I mean, I could go open. It's weird.
It's like someone owes you rent. Or we could go Hawaiian like our next guest normally does. But Andy Reid's about to join us from from Kansas City, from the Chiefs facility in advance of heading out to Super Bowl fifty nine, just like he headed out to Super Bowl fifty eight and Super Bowl fifty seven. Are you going to explain to him that for one year we named our fantasy team and spread centerpiece? Yes. I don't know if the 10 minutes we have with him, if that's the proper real estate to be used.
What are you going to ask him? You ready for the big game, coach? Yeah, we're ready. Right. You know what I mean? Like, let's let's have fun with this.
Honestly, I see what he's saying, because you can get that info anywhere. Like we need to be asking him stuff that he's not going to answer anywhere. We really need to defend Saquon Barkley and look out for A.J.
Brown on the outside. Like ask him if he remembers growling at me. I'm sure he will. Let me ask you this question. Do I ever tell you how to do things earlier?
Yeah, you do. Part of my job title is producer. I'm just trying to make you better. You're producing me now.
Trying to make you better. That's why you have us here. Are you concerned about my my my choice of question? No, I've got something fun planned. I didn't tell you about it. Oh, great. Well, I mean, sharing is caring.
I don't know. You know, Chris and I are funny. Why don't you share these funny plans with us?
Maybe we can help tweak them a little. I have something in store that's fun. I think it would be fun.
You think the natural is fun. So sometimes I'm a little questionable. I'm not making it about me. OK, good. Well, no, I mean, I understand what the name of the show is. I mean, you're not going to drop any Michigan thing in here, because that's usually why would I do that?
We went to BYU. So there's really no. Yeah, but he always finds a way. Chris, should I ask him about the Jewish quarterback there? Maybe. Nope.
Maybe he's scouting. Won't do it. All right. Not going to do it. Not going to do it.
I'm going to write to the coach's desk right now. Wow. I could see this set up right now.
This is great. Yeah. Are we ready for him? Are we ready? Or as the Chiefs might say, are we ready for it? The time's ours. No, the time is going to be ours, hopefully. But are we ready for it?
It's a Taylor Swift song, Chris. All right. Here he is. Ladies and gentlemen, the Kansas City Chiefs, Andy Reid. How you doing, coach?
Good to see you. We got to get Chris on the ball, man. That's right. I mean, Andy, my son is five. He's not into Taylor Swift yet. Not yet. Not yet. All right. Thank you. How about your how about your grandkids? They must be, right, Andy?
My granddaughter's a lover. Yeah, of course. Well, listen, good to see you. Where where are you in terms of preparation right now? Have you are we installed?
We is this happening? Walk me through what a prior to the Super Bowl week for someone like yourself is right now. And so we treated like a normal week and just put in the game plan, try to get it all done now. Because when you go down there, it's low chaotic and it's not quite the same practice schedule that you had.
So while it's consistent here, we try to keep it consistent and get the game plan in. So when do things turn abnormal the minute you land? Is that what it is?
Is that it? Pretty much basically, I mean, you're staying at a hotel, you're working in a field, you know, that it's not your normal field. And at times you normally don't work. But I mean, listen, it's it's not bad.
It's not a bad thing. I'm telling you. But while it's consistent here, we try to get it done and knock it out while the guys are sleeping in their own beds and work hard and think and all that stuff. Now, I spoke to Joe Banner the other day, Andy, and he said that your attention to detail is second to none. And that's what he heard about you when he started poking around in regards to hiring you way back in the day from Green Bay. Is the schedule and the way you go about it the same as what you did with the Eagles for that Super Bowl in Jacksonville?
Is it the same thing that you're doing? Yeah, pretty much the same thing. By the way, Joe Banner is likewise attention to detail. One of the smartest guys I've ever been around. So he's he's tremendous. But yes, that's you know, it's basically the same schedule.
Very, very, very similar. Andy Reid here on The Rich Eisen Show. OK, let's let's just jump into this here is is I want to talk Kelsey with you, if you don't mind, because we just showed a video on our show the other day because it was seven years ago yesterday that that Alex Smith got traded away to make room for Mahomes. And and you could see Kelsey was a little broken up about it and that Mahomes was going to be the guy.
But also the Kelsey back in that day was just beginning to turn into the professional, was really beginning to turn into the guy that we see here today. Did what what was going on back when he first started there that you were able to see something from him, but needed to kind of calm the waters for a guy that was coming into the league with a little bit of a hothead type of perception about him. Coach.
Sure. Well, I had known him for a while because of his brother playing for me. And then my kids were at Temple, one playing one coach in while he was playing at Cincinnati. So I had a chance to meet him, see him that whole deal before I even got here. And and then when we got here, John Dorsey wanted a tight end and and had looked at him and liked him.
So that was an easy, easy thing for him to take. And it's worked out now when he was young, different than his brother, his brother was more calm, still very intense, but more calm than Travis. So when we got Travis, he was a little bit live wire, but has matured over the years.
He's done great. He loved Alex Smith and he loved Pat Mahomes, too. They're buddies. And he's been fortunate to have these two great quarterbacks that have been throwing to him. But he's got a big heart. He always had that heart. That's why he's broken up about Alex. He loved Alex. And he's emotional.
Travis emotional. He's not afraid to show it. And that's part of him that we love. Well, and, you know, there's lots to love about Alex.
And obviously you you won a lot with Alex. But, you know, Mahomes was drafted where he was drafted. And I'm just wondering, now that you're seeing Mahomes be on a Mount Rushmore path here and he did. Did you did you looking back, do you think he would have been on that path if you were forced to have to go to him right away, like so many teams in the NFL these days?
Yeah, listen, I don't know that. I mean, I'd hate to doubt him on that because he probably would have proved me wrong. But we had Alex here and that I thought Alex could help him in certain ways and still have a great year, which he did. But just to watch Alex work, I think is invaluable for, you know, in this case, for Pat, not only to work on the field, but in the classroom, off of the field during the offseason, how you handle the OTAs, all those things that he got to see. And Pat could go, all right, this is the way you do it in the National Football League is still be a Pro Bowl player. And Pat was able to just bank all that away. That part he might not have seen that he started, you know, as a starter. So but I wouldn't tell you he's great because he sat out the first year and was a backup.
I wouldn't tell you that. I mean, I think he would have been still pretty good player now. Well, I mean, no doubt. And the reason why I'm kind of hitting the wayback machine here is to set up the magnitude. It's not just any Super Bowl.
This is a three-peat coach. And I understand that you keep things compartmentalized. That's part of your greatness as well. But do you mention this at all? Do you have any plans to mention at all that this is an opportunity that no one else has ever had in the history of the Super Bowl?
No one else has ever had the opportunity that you and the rest of this team have against the Eagles in two Sundays. Do you mention it this week? So I haven't heard one mention of it. I haven't mentioned it. I don't plan on mention it, but I'm also not naive enough to know that they haven't heard it.
I mean, I've heard it a ton up to this point, and I'm sure I'll hear more the next this next week once we get down to New Orleans. So we all know that's out there. But really, what matters is how you take care of business. That's not going to help you at all. That part's not going to help you.
What's going to help you is that you focus in and take care of business today while we're doing our practices or the meetings we have today. I mean, take care of that. And everything else, you let the chips fall where they may. You know, you got two great teams playing each other, so it's hard to predict one way or the other.
You can, though, control how you prepare yourself. So that's what we've been doing. We've been doing that all season.
And I'm sure the guy's been asked that question a bunch, but I never hear him mention it. They just have stayed focused. To what do you owe the 17-game win streak in one possession games?
How do you do this? Do you coach it? Do you drill down so significantly?
I'll give you the floor on that, Andy. Well, we know going in that there's so much parity in this league, so any game can go either way. We get it. There's just too many great players and great coaches in this thing. And the way the cap's set up and the draft is set up, Roger Goodell has given every city an opportunity to potentially win. So you already know that part. But to say that I knew about 17 games, one score games coming down and us being on the winning side of it. No, I mean, that's hard to practice other than going back to what I said.
Do the best you can with, you know, with what you've got there and try to put your guys in the best position you possibly can. So and then you've got to have a little luck, man. That ball's not round. And so it doesn't always go where you want it to go.
It can bonk off a goalpost and either come back to you or go through. And we've had one of those go through. And, you know, we've had some turnovers. We've had blocked field goals, extra points. We had all those things. So we've kind of hit the gamut of ways to come out on the positive end.
But very easily, those could have gone the other way. Well, in the couple of minutes I have left with you, coach, you know, I'm going to I'm going to dare to jump in here and ask you to be a little reflexive about yourself and your career and where you are right now. I do frequently ask people who are at such a high level and have an opportunity to do something so significant, usually ask them, what if I had told you back at a certain point of your career that you would be in a position right now? Like, for instance, when you take the field for Super Bowl 59, you will be coaching in your 45th playoff game. That's the most ever. You will now have as many Super Bowl appearances as Don Shula, one more than Tom Landry.
You're already ahead of them in terms of most playoff wins as a coach. And I could say, what if I told you when you showed up on NFL Total Access in Jacksonville, but I'm going to go here. What if I told this Andrew Reid back in the day for the punt pass and kick that you would be the coach to go for a three peat and have as many wins as you have? What if that I told that kid before that competition?
I wouldn't I wouldn't have believed it. I mean, this is a dream job. You're one out of 32 guys in the whole world, Rich.
And so, I mean, to think that you're going to be one of those is is is crazy. So I respect the heck out every day I get to do it. And then all those guys you named, all those great coaches. I respect the dog out of them, too, because I try to stay up on the history of the game. I always have. And those names are those are great, great coach. I've had a chance to meet a couple of them and before they passed on.
So just great, great people, too. Yeah. Did you punt? Did you win that punt pass and kick back in the day? No, I didn't win that one. You didn't? Yeah, that little kid right there beat me.
Are you serious? The kid next to you? You were at the same age as number 22 on that screen, were you? No, he was eight years old. I was 13. You were 13? Geez. Well, look at you now.
Honestly, I would love to just go up to that 13 year old. Hey, before you do this, you're going to turn into X, Y and Z and what you've been able to do. And I like I said, I've known you for some time. I always appreciate the time that you give me, no matter where I'm asking you to chat. It means a lot to me.
And, you know, I wish I had this knowledge now. I would have told you back in Jacksonville when you're getting ready for your first Super Bowl where you'd be right now. I would love to see your reaction. I appreciate it.
I know you would, too. I appreciate your friendship, too. I appreciate you saying that. Coach, I will see you in New Orleans. Thanks for the time. All right, Rich, thank you.
You got it. That's Andy Reid, three signed Super Bowl champion, head coach, trying to be a four and trying to go for a three-peat. Man, I thought he was telling the truth that he lost to number 22 on that screen right there. I think I operated this whole time under the belief that they were the same age.
I guess not. And that Andy was just a giant. Put that out one more time. He's 13. Cooper is almost 6'1", and he turns 14 in a couple weeks. Cooper is a giant as well. And they spelled his name wrong in the broadcast.
Andrew Reid of Los Angeles, California, number 34 on your screen, has the opportunity. This was taken, this competition, five years after the Super Bowl was played, initially as the NFL-AFL championship game. And then the guy whose son signs his check created the Super Bowl. And just to say that that guy, that 13-year-old, could wind up with the greatest coaching career ever. And I understand that Belichick is currently named as such and Lombardi's name is on the trophy. Unreal.
The journey, right? Andrew Reid getting ready to take on the Philadelphia Eagles' first coach ever in the history of the Super Bowl to coach against his former team twice. No one's ever done that. We've seen coaches coach against their former team once. I think the last one to do it was Pete Carroll before Reid. And twice. He's about to do it again.
It's the Eagles there as well. See, I didn't ask him about Saquon. How are you going to stop him? That's good. What's he going to say?
That was my point. Here's the game plan. Spagnuolo just handed it to me. There it is, everybody.
Hey, 26 is out there. If I had more time, I would have asked him how he listens to Spagnuolo's calls in his headset as a play caller of the greatest variety. Does he sit there and go, oh, that's a good one? What do you think? Do you think he's listening? You don't think he was listening to Spagnuolo's play call on fourth and five in the AFC Championship game? You don't think he's curious to hear what Steve's about, the dialogue?
I'm not sure. Andy strikes me as the type of guy. I trust him, obviously. No, I know that.
Long history. But you don't think he's listening in? Well, also remember there were shots earlier in Mahomes' career where Andy would sit on the bench with Patrick and let the defense do their own thing.
Those days are long gone. Are they? What, him sitting next to Mahomes on the bench? Every time. Well, I think he's talking to his guys. I don't know if he's listening to them. I would be stunned. See, these are questions we would have asked him, but you know.
Okay. But Rich, did you know? Fourth and five. Did you know? I'm sure you do know this, but I don't know the rest of us, that Spagnuolo led defense for the Chiefs have never given up a hundred yard rusher in the Super Bowl?
That makes sense. Or in the playoffs, I guess, technically. Jalen Hurts came close the last time. He was so dynamite. He was so dynamite.
He had an MVP case even in the loss. That's what I said yesterday. So dynamite.
Turn around. Leonard Fournette, by the way, the most yards given up by the Chiefs are 89 yards. That's it. And Super Bowl? The one.
Super Bowl or the playoffs. Yeah, man. Like I told you, you look at these, the fifth top 10 rusher this year, the Chiefs are facing. So something's got to give.
I don't know. I mean, Joe Banner did say what? The nickel defense. That's the one that the Eagles are great at throwing against the nickel and running against the nickel. And the Chiefs are going to have to disguise when they're in it. And that's what he said was going to be the difference maker. We'll take a break. We'll come back.
It's a what's more likely Friday. As always, Tom Pelissero will join us from the Senior Bowl as well in Alabama. 844204rich is the number to dial here on the Rich Eisen Show on this fun, busy Friday. Was he inspired by Richard Todd's play in the seventies or was it Ray Lucas in the nineties that caused your dad to get that ink? What was it?
Do you know the story here? So the big thing about my dad being a Jets fan, and I was once a Jets fan, now definitely a Giants fan. 1969. I'm sorry. I grew up a Jets fan. You're so close.
Go on. 1969, the first AFC team on the Super Bowl, the year my dad was born, born in New York. Growing up, everyone loved the Giants probably a little bit more. So he kind of just went the other way being a Giants fan. He kind of passed it on to me.
So I grew up being a fan of Curtis Martin, Thomas Jones, Chad Pendleton, the Mark Sanchez era with Rex Ryan and those guys. So I think he kind of got it probably maybe like when the Mark Sanchez era was going on. I don't think he did it because of that. He always had a passion.
He always wanted to do it. And one day he just made up his mind and said, he's going to put a Jets tattoo on you. I don't know what I'm freaking out about more. The fact that you could be a Jet. You were living and dying with the Jets while I was living and dying with the Jets or that your dad and I were born in the same year and you could be my son and I've got a 10, almost eight and a five at home. And this is not about me.
It's about you, Saquon. So was your dad disappointed that the Jets didn't take you? No, my dad was just happy that, you know, he'd seen his son live in Israel. Or didn't get a chance to take you. Oh, yeah. But he was happy, just like I'm saying, his son, he's him and my mother, very fortunate to have both parents in my life. You know, I've always went to them and told them what I want to do and what I'm passionate about.
And they always give me great advice and try to show me the way of what I got to do to get to my dream and live out my dream. One of my favorites, even though he destroyed my wolverines with regularity in college, that is none other than Saquon Barkley right here on The Rich Eisen Show. Back here on our program, sitting at The Rich Eisen Show desk on The Rich Eisen Show radio network. The desk is furnished by Grainger with supplies and solutions for every industry. Grainger has the right product for you.
Call clickrainger.com or just stop by. So there you have it. Andy Reid, ladies and gentlemen, here on the program. It was good to chat with him as he sends off to New Orleans. One thing before we get to our what's more likely, did you see the Jaguars asked to interview a couple of assistants from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for Liam Cohen's staff? Yeah, I bet they said no real fast.
What do you think? That there was sand and they told to pound it in a certain town, so they basically, did they respond to him that way? No. That's right.
No. Wow. That's funny. That's good.
That's well done. Yeah. They said no to that. Wow. Yeah.
Not surprising. Other coaching news. Did you see who the new passing game coordinator is in Detroit, Michigan? That one passed.
How do you see that? You know, I'm a fan, which is why I don't believe I've ever mentioned passing game coordinator news in the history of this program. I guarantee you have it. Yeah. That sounds a lot like, remember Hacksaw? Jim Duggan?
Locally here in Southern California. He would always go, you know, newsmaker line, there's a new assistant to the general manager in Miami. And I would always listen to him on my way home from total access when we started NFL Network 22 years ago and we didn't have an assignment desk or a news desk. And I would listen to the radio thinking that if news broke, I'd have to turn my car around and go back and record a new episode of total access. And I'd flip out with like, here's a breaking news.
And it would be just like something that would be in the old agate type in a newspaper. At any rate, the passing game coordinator of the Detroit Lions is David Shaw. Hey, man. What a great hire, man. You know, I mean, I absolutely love this guy. He is just so additive to any staff. And it's pretty amazing, man, that the former Stanford coach is going to have to coordinate the passing game of a Cal Bear. Strange bedfellows, don't you think?
So I love it. Great piece of news coming out of Detroit, Michigan there. And other than that, you know, I don't you're seeing this defensive coordinator that hired on offensive coordinators are I have no idea. We don't either. You know who's actually going to be good at the job and who's not going to be good at the job.
Yeah. You can evaluate until free agency. I know it takes a while, which is why, you know, to get to stick with your staff best you can.
What a win that is. Don't turn around. Don't change it around because this is what's going to happen. You're going to roll the dice and assume that your new guy knows exactly who they're hiring and it's all going to work out. And who has any idea, which is why, you know, when you take a look at the coaching landscape, somebody like Pete Carroll, you know what you're going to get there.
But Joe Banner did not stutter when we had him on earlier this week and I asked him the best hire of this coaching cycle and he said, Mike Vrabel, he said that that's the obvious answer. I mean, exactly what the doctor ordered there in New England. Let's go to Benny in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
You're on the rich edge. What's up, Benny? Hey, how we doing, guys? Big shout out to all you boys in the studio on your hard work. Love it.
Thank you. I specifically have a question for one, Mr. Chris Brockman didn't know if you saw the latest Bucky Brooks mock draft, but he had some team from New England taking Travis Hunter fourth overall. There's no way he drops to four.
I mean, so, so who goes, you want to look up Bucky's unless you don't know Benny, because my question is who goes before you are going one, then they had a defensive end going to the Browns. Yeah. Abdul second. Yep. He's got Chidor being number one overall, I think going third.
Yeah. Chidor to the Titans, Abdul Carter to the Browns, Cam Moore, Giants, Pats, Travis Hunter. I would be stunned.
If he falls, but I hopefully that card will be turned in in 30 seconds. I think Bucky, thanks for the call, Benny. I think Bucky just earned a phone call, Chidor Sanders first overall. Have you seen that anywhere else?
I have not. Well, because Bucky must like him or think that the Titans are going to fall in love with him to the point where they're going to go get him and just say, thanks for the memories Will Levis. Well, having their new GM said they're looking for generational talent at first overall. Well Abdul Carter might be that generational talent. Travis Hunter. I'm just saying again, if you're getting somebody who can run the ball, you got Bill Callahan in charge of your offensive line in the run game and your coach comes from the Zach Taylor, Sean McVay family tree, and you want to run an offense where there's a lot of boots and a lot of play fakes and a lot of runs, maybe even from your quarterback, I mean, Chidor Sanders may be your guy. This is going to be an interesting first five.
Dude, if Travis Hunter falls to the New England Patriots, wow, again, I'd be stunned because he would go where Cleveland first. I'll say this. I'll say this.
I'll say, I'll say this, Chris. I mean, I know they got the, they got the grim reaper there, but adding Abdul Carter to the grim reaper and you got to go against Lamar twice a year and burrow twice a year. I understand what Travis Hunter brings to the equation.
That'd be a tough one to pass up. But as we, we ended the show yesterday saying, Hey, Travis Hunter is the possible Ohtani of the NFL. And if this guy can take away half the field defensively and for the first three, four years of his career, give you 30 snaps on offense and provide you with one of the best receiving talents in the game that makes them first overall, how, how do you turn that down? How do you, how do you turn, I mean, if the Titans are talking about generational talents, he's that, but they don't have a quarterback. I, I, unless Will Levis showed enough, you know, showed enough to say that we, we can try it one more time here, that, that you're not sold on Chidor or Cam Ward enough.
I don't know, man, if you want to talk about making your, your games must see wouldn't Travis Hunter putting the, the first two way player in, in decades on the field, be that guy. I mean, that's a, that's a tough one to pass up. It's a Friday, which means it's a, what's more likely Friday than this one's presented by pedigree. Hit it.
What's more likely never say never, but never Christopher go for it. What do you have over there? Pretty good. Happy Friday. What's more likely presented by pedigree.
What do you have over there? Need more jobs. What's more likely rule change to happen first tech used for first downs or every 15 yard penalty reviewable. What happens first the tech or making, I think making 15 yard penalties reviewable.
I think that's first order business. I think they've already mentioned that the play that we see on the screen here that Sam Darnold had was face masked and wasn't caught. Like I think they're going to, they're going to review. They're going to review those penalties. The only thing is that the one that wasn't called, I don't know how they're going to handle ones that aren't called. Are they going to put flags on the field using replay other than you had 12 men on the field. So that's a problem.
Sky judge. I would just say that's the rule change. It's going to happen first because you already heard even Mike Del Tufo gave you some inside information that the technology that is being used in other leagues is not perfect. It's not perfected. And until that thing is 100% dead solid, perfect dead on balls, accurate to use the Mona Lisa veto phrase. I don't think the NFL is going to use it and it was certainly what happened next year. I think you're going to start seeing 15 yard penalties reviewable.
Certainly if I have anything to do with it, but you don't, I don't officially, but I do have this microphone in front of me. I just made it out of the competition. I understand that that's all TJ more likely to complete the three Pete first Eli Manning in the pro bowl games or Mac McClung at the dunk contest. Everyone's talking about three Pete's, you know what I mean? By the way, Pat Riley owns the trademark. I know in six different ways to win, he could make a million bucks. Yeah. He needs it years ago. He needs it to I'm good luck, lose the mind.
I'm going to go with a Manning Eli really having this conversation games are huge in watching that last night. Yeah. You apparently you think you can compete. That's a top five later. I wouldn't want, I wouldn't miss. All right. All right. You're not feeling this one.
Let's move on. I'm gonna say Manning Eli free agent. All-star. Who's going to sign somewhere first. Peter Lonzo, Alex Bregman.
We're saving all the big game ones for next week. I noticed why isn't these guys signed because Scott Boris is the worst, best agent ever. He's not the worst.
There's nothing worst about him that you'd want to be, you'd want to be represented by him. That's true. I would.
Maybe I'll call. Okay. I'll go Alex Bregman.
Yeah. I'll go Alex Bregman because I think Alonzo's going to wait till the very, very, very, very end before he signs. And stay with the Mets? Well, it's a Mets town. Why would he want to leave it? Good point. And part of the reason why it's a Mets town is because Pete Alonzo won so much there. So why would he want to leave it? It's amazing that someone could tell him he's wrong and he's still gonna. I don't understand.
What did I say? That was off. Pete Alonzo has won so much there. Why would he leave the Mets town when he's helped create it? Who else has helped create it being a Mets town, if not him? Lindor? Lindor? How long has Lindor been there? Three years now?
It seems like 26. Yeah, I know, right? It seems like all those years in Cleveland never existed because he's helped transform New York, Lindor.
He didn't play for Cleveland. I mean, everybody's walking around. You know what? When you go into the subway and you hear somebody playing the trumpet, you know, cause I grew up there. You would hear like, you know, somebody playing feelin' good on the trumpet, right?
And the echo in the, in the subway, channels in there. You think they asked. Now, that's exactly who you think.
Yeah. You don't think nobody on the Yankees, that's for sure. There's nobody, there's nobody inspiring trumpets for the Yankees. This is gonna be real fun all year. Guys, more likely the position to be drafted first overall in the draft, quarterback or the field. Hmm.
We're gonna talk about this a lot. I'll take the field. I'll take the field. Bucky Brooks saying that, uh, Chidor going number one overall is the first I've heard that, right?
First I've seen Chidor number one, yes. Yes. Okay. So, yeah, I'll take the field, Matt.
I'll take the field. I just don't know if the Titans are gonna look at the generational talent on defense and say, we're gonna go quarterback just cause we're here first overall. You know, so, um, listen, I know you're hoping a quarterback goes first overall.
Yes, I am. You know, because, you know, cause you already have your Pro Bowl quarterback and Drake May and thus it brings Travis Hunter one step closer or Abdul, just one of those guys just drops down. Just having either of those guys dropped down to fourth overall would not only make you happy because you're a Patriot fan, but also make you happy because it would remove from my verbal arsenal, the name of Joe Milton. The Joe Milton game would suddenly vanish kind of like the back to the future Polaroid. Somebody should trade for Joe Milton. That's all I'm saying.
I don't know. He's even to be a terrific backup. That's a Flacco was on our list.
No, no, no, no, no, no. Why? Why would you not have Joe Milton back up when you've already established he's a winner. He wins games for you. He wins important games for you.
He sent Jerrod Mayo out on his shield as a winner. What are we doing? Are you done? Yeah.
Thank you. More likely to be a starting quarterback in week one next year spice it up a little bit. Russell Wilson or Justin Fields.
Just firing darts to the right and the left over here. What are we asking again? More likely to be a week one Justin Fields, Justin Fields, Justin Fields, Justin Fields.
How about this? Both. I'll go both. I'll go Wilson and Vegas. Also Wilson and Las Vegas. We need that to happen.
Don't you think? Black and silver. Let's go. Raider nation. Let's go.
Let's ride. Now you're saying black and silver because he goes black and gold, right? But he'd have to. He would switch it up. Silver and black.
Silver and black. Let's pillage. Let's pillage. Is that what he would say?
Yeah. Because it's Broncos nation. Let's ride. Broncos country. Broncos country. Let's let's ride.
Go Hawks. What was it? Black and gold. Here we go. Black and gold. Here we go.
What would it be? Silver and black. Let's pillage. Let's pillage.
He could do just wind baby, I guess. Pillage is. Well, it's from the poem. I understand that. Yeah.
Just for fun. I'll say both. I'll say both. I thought of this one.
It's sort of game related, but I want to throw it out there. More likely to be the higher number next week. Saquon rushing yards in the game or Dodgers wins this year. Oh, I'll go Dodgers wins this year.
Oh man. Well, the Dodgers are going to win a hundred and we just heard, we just heard the chiefs have never in the Steve Spagnolo coordinated era, given up a hundred yards to a back in the playoffs. Right? Yep. So the Dodgers are winning a hundred games at least. But Saquon's prop total is 112.
Is it really? Yeah. That's a large, that's a whopping number. That's a big number.
We had one 18 last week. Is that comp... Oh, that's just rushing. That's just rushing. Yeah. Okay. I know this is a, you're dipping into next week's game.
I know I'm dipping. It doesn't matter though. Cause we're not going to know the answer to this until well late September, probably early August when they went a hundred in August, when they go over to a hundred, I wonder somebody looked at it. I don't know.
Research. Uh, guys, what's a more likely to be like, what's, what's more likely Saquon Saquon yards what's higher Saquon yards or, uh, deferred dollars by Dodgers. Whoa. I don't think Saquon can rush for 680 million deferred deferred dollars just this year. But I'm saying, so it's, so it's like 50 from Otani, right? Right. How much is Yamamoto? Like, I'd love to know just this year, how many, well, just how about this deferred dollars by Japanese players on the Dodgers?
You know, the answer is always Saquon. Ah, you guys are crazy. Hey, well just watch. What's going to happen. I'm just wondering what's larger. What's what's larger. You're eating up our time.
I still have more. What's large. What's larger Dodgers wins or Dodgers deferred dollars by Japanese players that leads to those wins. It may not be a fun summer. Uh, more likely to be the least exciting new coach hire to win more games next year. Brian Schottenheimer or Liam Cohen.
I could give you the answer in terms of a name, but I'll just do my favorite part about that is him saying that or the awkward laughter in the room. The awkward laughter gets me here one more time here with you all right. Last one. Uh, I think this is interesting. You really got to think about it.
You got to do some math. I know. I know there's, I was told there'd be no math group of quarterbacks more likely to finish their careers with more Superbowl wins. The old guys, Brady Manning, Rogers, breeze, or the new guys, Mahomes, Allen, Jane Daniels, Jaylen hurts. Peyton's got two, Brady's got seven.
Rogers has one and breeze has one. That's 11. 11.
Yeah. 11. This is an easy one. Um, homes is already at three homes will match Brady. The question is who's going to have two. Um, the question is, are the four of them going to be able to get eight Superbowl?
I'll go with the O the OGs. Eleven's a lot. Eleven's a lot. And Mahomes is going to prevent Allen from winning. Right.
That was this year's group of final four. That's why I did. Very good.
I appreciate you doing that. Okay. Yeah.
I'll go with the OGs. Yeah. I mean, that's a simple way. By the way.
I mean, she's more, what's more likely is that are going to take a decade and a half to get an answer from well, that was quick though. Wow. Good stuff. Thank you. You're welcome.
That was what's more likely presented by pedigree. Catch the 2025 puppy bowl Sunday at 2 PM Eastern on animal planet discovery or TBS to watch some amazing pup leads in action and fuel your public with pedigree puppy, the go-to choice for active puppies. I love active puppies. Yeah. Pup leads. I love it.
Uh, all right, let's take a break. But on the infinity sports network, here's a sports update from Marco Baletti. My dad works in B2B marketing. He came by my school for career day and said he was a big row as man. Then he told everyone how much he loved calculating his return on ad spend.
My friends still laugh at me to this day. Not everyone gets B2B, but with LinkedIn, you'll be able to reach people who do get a hundred dollar credit on your next ad campaign. Go to linkedin.com slash results to claim your credit.
That's linkedin.com slash results, terms and conditions apply. LinkedIn, the place to be to be Bravo TV star Lala Kent holds nothing back on the give them Lala podcast. No, I have a very short views. Get to know the TV personality. I don't need to watch the show cause I get the real life version from relationships and motherhood.
Let me tell you something about breastfeeding to business and beyond. You are scared of failure, so it prevents you from trying where we implement a big set of ovaries and then we obsess follow and listen on your favorite platform. Back here on our rich eyes and show family of networks. Otherwise known as Roku, what did I catch you mid swallow over there? So what's happening?
I'm just giggling at a lot of stuff today. All right, let's go to the phone lines here on the program. Let's go to Paul in New Brunswick. This is New Jersey.
We're talking about Paul. No, sir. We're talking about New Brunswick, Canada. I heard a boot and now I shouldn't have, I should have just waited to say hello to you before going to New Brunswick. What an honor, gents.
Longtime listener, first time caller as I am shoveling off my pond because let's do that hockey. Oh, okay. Very good. Yes. Uh, but my comment, cause there's only a few low hanging fruit on the rich eyes of the show. Sorry, TJ.
Uh, the Dallas Cowboys. Uh, and of course Dion is coming on the show next week. Yes.
That's right. Do you think, uh, and Jerry Jones will have an opportunity, unlike Auburn, do you think Auburn is buttered about not hiring him after he goes to Colorado? And do you think this is going to turn into a situation for Jerry to lose out? Because ultimately at some point Dion's going to the NFL. Listen, um, I don't know, um, the answer to the question, like if you want to talk about other, uh, institutions, Paul, are you, are you curling right now? What are you doing? What are you doing up there? I'm shoveling. It's Canada. So you're, you're calling our show while shoveling snow.
Is that what you're saying? Well, what better way to listen live than doing house chores? I hear you. I'm just, it's true. Wow. Okay.
Let's do that hockey. Okay. Very good. Uh, I, I, if we're talking about, um, institutions of higher learning that are buttered, do you think, should we go back to Florida state for not hiring their alum to go do this thing after, you know, but two years ago, we weren't saying that last year, kind of not very good. Um, but, uh, so if I had to go, if I had to go back to that, listen, Paul, I just don't, and by the way, um, keep shoveling, man, I appreciate it.
You'd be well call us back because it sounds like you're a regular, uh, intake or of our nonsense. Um, yeah, it's 20 degrees in the snowing in New Brunswick right now. Did you look it up? I did. Okay.
How's the weather out there? Um, listen, I don't think, and I can't wait to see prime next week. I, I just don't think Jerry would have spent the money on Dion. Am I wrong? No.
Bingo. Jerry's response on talking about coaches and how to pay them. And he kind of had like that, that broad side about how expensive coaches can be. I, I don't think he views coaching as something you need to spend top dollar for.
I think that's a simple explanation. He thinks that he can go rich, you know, I know you keep saying that. I think he thinks the roster is the roster and you get people who can coach it, that coaching has a value to it, but not top dollar value. You know, rich, he, he had a coach who won two super bowls and he, he let him go. Like he doesn't put a high priority on coaching. Obviously back here on the rich eyes and show radio network talking about the Dallas Cowboys and what were Jerry Jones. We just don't think he, he, he will pay top dollar for coaches. What was the last top dollar coach he had? Parcells?
Yeah. I mean, there's no one else. Because he went from there. What did he pay Bill Parcells? Whatever it was, I'm sure it was top dollar at the time.
Whatever top dollar was in the early aughts, Bill Parcells wasn't going to be taking a hometown discount to coach the Dallas Cowboys. You know? So I, I, yeah, Jerry's allergic to paying coaches as well.
Thank you. It's what it sounds like to me. That's what it sounds like to me. You know, he's not paying dead money to somebody. He's not paying a buyout to somebody for the right to pay somebody like what Belichick would command.
He wasn't going to, the minute Belichick took the job in North Carolina, that probably eliminated him from, from the Dallas conversation because there was a buyout to be had. So Deion is going to come at a price tag and not just him, but everybody else that would come as his coaching staff, right? Don't you think, isn't Eberflus whatever he's making somewhat getting offset by the Bears too? Eberflus, he's coming at a discount to be the defensive coordinator. I'd imagine.
All right. So back in the day, I found an article, Mort said, Mort said that it was a four year deal, 17 million from Parcells. So it was a $4 million a year coaching job, but then they, we know, we structured to give him 5 million one year and 6 million the second year.
That had to be top dollar back in the early aughts to pay somebody. Seems like it. Yeah. Is he paying Brian Schottenheimer that much per year right now?
Yeah, for sure. Do we know? We do know that. We do know that? Have you seen him report anywhere where he's getting paid?
Four million would be pretty, pretty low for a coach nowadays. Don't let the urge to sing along that catchy tune distract you from that truck drifting towards your lane or that lane splitting biker cream it up beside you. Fortunately, every Hyundai offers advanced safety features that can alert you to potential dangers around you. Hyundai vehicles have won over 120 IIHS top safety awards from 06 to 24. Still here on our Roku channel feed, Tom Pelissera will join us in a couple of segments from now. You know, so anybody that's like, hey, Dion is, believe regret not hiring Dion. I think the answer to that is no. Do you think Dion's going to go wind up in the pros someday soon?
I don't know. I think he loves where he is. I think he loves where he is. Will he get a chance to maybe coach one of his sons at the next level? Whoever drafts his kid. And if it doesn't work out, wants to have a culture change and bring Dion in to coach the son?
That'd be fun. Well, I guess then you can't move on from the son. You know?
You're kind of locked. It's just a silly thing to even suppose. This was the perfect year to do it, though. I could have gone to the Raiders.
The Raiders are at six. They could have moved up. They could have got him. It all could have worked out. Or the Cowboys could have just given Dion the number that would require him to sit there and go, OK, Colorado, I'm thinking about it. You got to really come correct. And then what? They trade Dak and Pix to move up?
No, no, no, no, no. That Dion would know he's just not going to coach his son. That's not really a prerequisite. The coaching the Dallas Cowboys is pretty damn cool in and of itself. And certainly if he takes that job in the future, you're filling the shoes of Schottenheimer and Campo.
See, I could have said Parcells and McCarthy, I could have gone with Super Bowl winning head coaches, but I went the other way. I saw what you did there. Did you? Yeah.
Could have probably predicted that that's where you were going to go. I just love that you put a Mets hat on thinking CeCe was paying you a compliment that it's a Mets town because they're the real fans. Mets and Jets fans are the real fans because the stuff that you go through, the fact that you still root for your team, that makes you a real fan. Am I wrong? It wasn't like two years ago he didn't like baseball anymore because I'm pretty sure he was out.
And you know, I'm correct. He was out. When was he ever out on baseball? There was a few times, bro.
You know, you're in and out throughout the year, kind of depending on the summer goes, like all of us. Kept that peaceful. What?
He kept that peaceful. Oh, shut up, Dodger fan. Seriously. Do we know how how many dollars on an annual basis are being deferred by Japanese baseball players to come and play for the Dodgers? Oh, it's something like two hundred and ninety two billion dollars.
On an annual. Yeah, that's right. Exactly.
There you go. There's there's a real New Yorker right there. That's a real New Yorker.
