Your number one of the Championship Sunday edition of the Rich Eisen Show is live on the air on the Roku Sports Channel. This Rich Eisen Show terrestrial radio affiliate on the Infinity Sports Network. Coast to coast, 120 of them. Greatly appreciate that. We say hello to everybody listening out there on Sirius XM Channel 375 or streaming us on the Odyssey app for your Ear Gate.
You're watching us, hopefully, on the Roku Sports Channel as you do every day between 12 and 3 Eastern. We say hello to all those out there who need a hug in Bills and Commanders Nation. I know many in this show studio were hoping for Bills and Commanders because it would be the upstart wild cardiac kids from DC taking on a franchise that had never won a Super Bowl before and hadn't been back since losing four in a row in the early 90s in the Buffalo Bills.
But instead, it's the exact opposite. Super Bowl 59 will be a rematch of Super Bowl 57. And we say congratulations to Chiefs and Eagles fans. And we're there for a hug. That's what the Rich Eisen Show does for those who might need it.
844-204 Rich is the number to dial on the program. Good to see you over there, Christopher Brockman. How are you? Hey, Rich.
I think those guys did more than a hug today. DJ Mikey D is in Deez Nuts. Good to see you, sir. TJ Jefferson, the Candles Litter. You heard from Carl Edleby Towns yet? Who?
Well, here's a mariachi band. Come on out. No, I'm just kidding.
Who? That's later on. No.
No, it's not. Maybe next week. What's up, man?
Maybe this week. I don't know. How you doing? I don't know what just got in store.
I'm well. Thanks for everybody out there for joining here today. Listen, we're going to start this program in the way that we started this program at the outset of the season. How we started this program in the middle of the summer. How we started this program the day after the Super Bowl last year. And that's talking about the Kansas City Chiefs. I understand there's considerable Chiefs fatigue out there.
And guess what? You got two more weeks of it. And you might even have a full more offseason of it. And I said going into the season, it was the number one storyline.
I said it was the number one storyline of the offseason, too. And that is the first three-peat opportunity we have seen in the National Football League since the Patriots tried it in the 2005 season and couldn't do it. And they lost in the divisional round. And how would the Chiefs get ready for it? How would they go ahead and build their roster around that concept?
How would they handle the week-to-week target on their backs of being two-time defending Super Bowl champs? And then we found out how they would deal with it. We found out that Travis Kelce says he's coming back. We found out that hardly anybody left. We found out, you know, I understand Lageria Sneed goes to Tennessee. We find out that the coaching staff once again would not be rated.
You weren't losing anybody. Steve Spagnuolo stays as the defensive coordinator on draft day in Detroit. The Buffalo Bills do get a phone call from the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs call them up and say, hey, how would you like to trade back down four spots and allow us to go up to the 28th overall position and draft Xavier Worthy? Well, they didn't know it was Xavier Worthy they were going up to get, but they said, sure, go ahead and trade up. That was a bad move. Well, that was discussed quite a bit, like of all the teams that would allow the Kansas City Chiefs to move up and improve their team in a manner in which they would want to improve it by getting the fastest guy in the history of the scouting combine.
It was an odd choice, but they did go move down into the top of the second round eventually and take Keon Coleman. But you could also see it coming that Xavier Worthy would in fact score a touchdown against the Buffalo Bills should they face each other in the playoffs. And guess what happened in the AFC Championship game? But before all that, we saw a regular season play out in which we were having the conversation here every day that the Chiefs were less than, that they weren't as good as their Super Bowl seasons, that at some point somebody would have to come out of the woodwork to try and knock them off, and that at some point they would get knocked off because they weren't killing it on offense, they weren't killing it on defense, they weren't killing it on special teams. As a matter of fact, their kickers got hurt.
Multiple did. And then they just kept winning, didn't they? As a matter of fact, they won more games in the regular season than any two-time defending champion had ever won in the regular season. No defending champion twice over had ever won 15 games in the regular season in which they were three-peating.
This one did. They got the one seed even though the Buffalo Bills beat them, and the Buffalo Bills beating them in the regular season, the only team to beat the Chiefs when Mahomes was a starting quarterback. He went 15-1 as a starting quarterback this season. They get the bye week anyway. They come off the bye week and they beat the Houston Texans and then wind up. Who is the team to face them at the end of the day? The conversation and the question all year long, who is going to be the team to beat them when the chips were on the line in Arrowhead?
If they would be in Arrowhead, they wind up in Arrowhead. It's not the Ravens. It's not the Texans. It's not the Steelers who are at 1.10-3.
It's no one in their division coming to try and play them for a third time. It wasn't the L.A. Chargers with Jim Harbaugh despite being plussed up six wins. It wasn't the Denver Broncos who with their rookie quarterback surprised everybody by making the playoffs. It wasn't anybody else in the AFC East. It wasn't Aaron Rodgers coming back with a new Achilles and taking the Jets to the promised land. It wasn't the Miami Dolphins with Tua now re-signed.
It wasn't any of them. It was the Buffalo Bills because the football gods wanted to see Alan Mahomes for a fourth time. And we saw a classic.
We saw an absolute classic play out. And it was yet another example of the Kansas City Chiefs being the Kansas City Chiefs winning yet another one possession game, making all the plays that they needed to make and with a sprinkling of people who still can't believe the Chiefs are still doing it because they think the refs are on their side. And put it all together and you have the Kansas City Chiefs doing what they do, which is having Patrick Mahomes prove to you that he is the best. Enjoy your who's the real MVP conversation between two quarterbacks that didn't make the Super Bowl in the AFC. Go enjoy that.
Go enjoy it. And we'll have a conversation as to who's the real MVP between Mahomes and Saquon Barkley as the Eagles have made it. And we'll talk about the Eagles later on. But Mahomes doing Mahomes things again in this game, taking care of business in a manner in which he's never taken care of business before. Coming up with two rushing touchdowns in this game for the first time in a playoff game that's never happened before for him. And he now, by the way, has the most career playoff rushing touchdowns in Chiefs history. So he's going to have that, too, on top of all the running backs that have previously played for the Chiefs in the playoffs and anybody who follows.
Hey, guess who's the leading rusher in the history of the Kansas Chiefs in the playoffs? Mahomes has five games now with a passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown in the playoffs. That's tied Tom Brady for second most two behind Steve Young.
He now has a nine game winning streak in the playoffs. That is tied for Bart Starr for the second most of all time, one behind Tom Brady, who began his career with 10 in a row. He passed Joe Montana for the second most playoff wins by a quarterback in NFL history. He's now halfway to Brady in that regard, a little bit less. He would be more than halfway if he wins the Super Bowl. Brady's got 35 of those. He became the second player in NFL history with 50 or more career offensive touchdowns in the playoffs. He now has 50. Brady has 95. That's crazy.
Seems like a lot. But what Mahomes is, is the greatest quarterback we've ever seen in his 20s. He's beaten Brady in every metric in these regards.
Don't even start with it. And obviously, Brady played through his 30s into his 40s, which is part of the conversation later on. And we've got two weeks to talk about legacy. But you saw what Mahomes did last night when the Bills take the lead. And yes, he did get the football back on a fourth down call by the officials. I thought it was a first down when it happened.
Certainly when I saw the linesman come from the top of the screen, giving a first down mark for the Bills, and then they eventually got together and gave a first down mark for the Chiefs, taking the cue from the official that was coming from the bottom of the screen up. But again, these are things where folks say, well, the officials were giving the Chiefs what they needed, what they wanted, and all that garbage, as if there wasn't a third down and 10 call that went against the Chiefs when it was a clear offsides by the Bills. They called it a false start on the Chiefs. They turned to a third and five potentially for the Chiefs and the third and 15. There are many other instances in this game in which calls did not go against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Yes, the most important one did go their way. But Mahomes is the one who turned it on in points. You know, it wasn't like that that ball was placed on the five yard line. Like it was, by the way, after what did appear to be a doubly possessed football down on the ground for what could have been a turnover, if it wasn't for the flag that was also thrown on the play on the Bills, would have just given the Chiefs the ball on the 25 instead of the five.
I'm just telling everybody. The ball also hit the ground. You could say that, too. I mean, I can say that because it did. It still would have been the Chiefs football, though. Not on the five, it would have been on the 25. Right, it would have saved 20 yards. And it would have saved 20 yards. I'm just saying is that these moments that go in the Chiefs way are always magnified because the Chiefs make the most of it.
As they did last night, as Mahomes did last night and the defense did last night. Coming up with a huge play to force a fourth down throw from Josh Allen. That, man, was his maybe greatest Super Bowl moment of his career.
Having a blitz come from a corner off his front side that was definitely not on a lot of people's bingo cards except Steve Spagnolo's. And he hoisted it in the air and Dalton Kincaid had it in his arms. I thought that was going to be the ball that got caught to switch the entire narrative of what I've been laying out for the first 10 minutes of this program. And instead, it goes off of Kincaid's arms.
You can call that lucky, too. It was a tough catch. It was an incredible throw. But it did hit his receiver in the hands. I don't put that on Kincaid at all. People were saying, oh, that's worse than Mark Andrews.
I mean, it's just people are bringing up Mark Andrews because it's also the same position. The ball did hit Kincaid in his arms. Yeah, but he's also coming back to the ball. It's not an easy catch. It's not an easy catch, but also these are professional ball catchers. And watching that over and over and over again, Josh Allen did everything. That blitz was, like you said, unbelievable first, only one of the game. Stupendous.
Helped the guy out, man. And the ball is right there. Except if he throws it to Shakur, he's still running.
Yeah, but you can't make that. Because Shakur, he's rolling to his right, though. Shakur's on his left. By the way, and let me just point this out, too, and I'll hit it a little bit. You know, we'll hit it later when we talk about it with the Bills. We'll hit it later.
Because I have some opinions on people who are saying, he should have done this, he should have done that. He did everything that he could do on that play. And so did Kincaid, too. It's not an easy catch. I'm just pointing this out to say, these are the moments that would have been lasting forever if it was a completed play. Because the Bills might have tied this game and won it. Instead, the Chiefs have those plays. They've got a whole litany of those plays. They make these plays. They also do get, you know, the football gods making sure the other team doesn't have them in moments. But they created that opportunity defensively. And the Kansas City Chiefs are right now four quarters of action away from being the greatest dynasty the league has ever seen.
You could make that case right now anyway. We've never seen a three-peat opportunity in the Super Bowl. We've never seen a quarterback like Mahomes do what he's doing by his age at this age.
We've never seen a team basically remake itself over and over and over again. Gone are the days, again, of Tyreek Hill. He's gone. He's not coming back. That high-octane offense where the Chiefs can flip the field on you in one second and put 21 points on you like they did on the Texans. Twenty-four points like they did on the Texans in a span of three minutes and blitz you.
Those days are gone. And they've totally remade themselves. And we have a conversation all the time on NFL Game Day morning, is this the most complete team that Mahomes has ever had? Is this the most complete team that the Chiefs have ever had? And that's kind of like the same concept of, is this the best pound-for-bound boxer?
What do you mean by pound-for-pound? What do you mean by complete team? How could this be a complete team when they can't play offense like they used to with Tyreek Hill? How can this be their most complete team when they're not playing defense like they were with Lageria Snead, for instance, who's not on the team anymore? It is the most complete team because how else does a team that has 15 wins get those 15 wins when they're not playing as well as they were on offense? When Travis Kelce did have his least productive season, statistically. When Mahomes did look fallible, when the offensive line was injured, what do they do? They completely reconfigure it with completely different people in spots where they've normally never played. What happens when Isaiah Pacheco goes down? They get Kareem Hunt coming off the couch and get a run game that way. OTC.
Right, at OTC. What happens when you do lose Lageria Snead? What happens when you do have three different kickers? You still win 15 games. Guess what that is a sign of?
Completeness, depth, general managing, coaching, heart. Can't argue it. You can be tired of it, and a ton of people are. Really tired of it. Done with it. Don't want to hear it anymore.
I had a Patriot fan sitting at home and one on my text last night rooting hard for the Bills in a way they probably never rooted hard for the Bills in their entire lives. By the way, that's Cooper, not Suzy. Coop, man. You want to talk about a 13-year-old with Chiefs fatigue? That's one of them. Okay? And so I understand it.
You don't want to see it anymore. Coop, let me tell you about the New England Patriots. Well, I mean, I could give him that life lesson, but he's got to live through this. Because a lot of people who are sick and tired of the Chiefs, they're back in the Super Bowl. They are four quarters away from winning it all, and being talked about forevermore is the greatest that's ever been. And they got a quarterback who's already on Mount Rushmore. He's not even 30. And they got a head coach who, yeah, he's heading towards his late 60s, but he's now got 301 career wins, and he pushes every damn button.
So you got all that. And the Kansas City Chiefs are the AFC champions again. And the Lamar Hunt trophy, named for the owner who dreamt of these moments, never got to see him. His son did.
His son does. And the guy who came up with the nickname of Super Bowl might have his franchise that he helped found. And has the conference's trophy named after his name in Lamar Hunt. His franchise may be the first three-peat ever.
One thing that they are is the first team in NFL history to play in five or more Super Bowls within a six-year span. That's coming. I got more stats like that. I got two weeks to tell you about him, too. We'll talk about the NFC championship game with our next guest, if he actually returned home sober enough to make the call. Our friend Chris Long of Green Light Pod. That's debatable.
Okay. He's living his best life. He was at tailgates. He was on Broad Street.
He was everywhere yesterday. I mean, so was Philadelphia. And congrats to them. We'll talk about the Eagles' big-time win, the Commander's season coming up short. And the same thing with the Bills.
Brian Schottenheimer and the Joneses are talking right now about Brian Schottenheimer being the new head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, as was announced at the ripe hour of 930 at night on Friday of Championship Sunday. That's what we call an information dump normally back in the day, but it's now part and parcel of this world. Anytime, anywhere. Where's that contract, Brock? Okay, that's coming up on this edition of the Rich Eisen Show with the brilliant, hilarious Bill Burr in studio hour three to talk about all of this.
I wonder what he thinks achieves fatigue. That's coming up in hour three. Chris Long, when we come back and your calls at 844-204-RICH. Let's talk TurboTax people. You might be sitting there going, wait a minute, Rich.

Allstate Fire and Casualty Insurance Company and Affiliates, Northbrook, Illinois. While the country has Chiefs fatigue, do you know who's not fatigued? Our Eagles fans with their team winning. Their passion is through the roof.
I mean, you're here all the time. What if this team wins? What if that team wins? And I understand the Eagles have won a ton. Nick Sirianni is, let me get this stat right. He's one of the youngest coaches to go back to the Super Bowl. Remember when that guy was fired at the beginning of the season? He was head coach to coach two Super Bowls. He is the fifth youngest. He'll be just a couple hundred days a little bit older than Joe Gibbs when Gibbs went back to his second. And so the Eagles are going back. Jalen Hurts is the first quarterback to lose a Super Bowl in his first try to get back since Jim Kelly.
The last 18 did not make it back. Take a look at some of these pictures. They're insane. Look at that photograph in Philadelphia. If you look closely, I think you see Chris Long in the back. Do you really?
It's possible. Let's see, I don't know if we do. Let's see if Chris Long will, is he on? Chris is on. Either Chris, do you see yourself in this photograph there?
He's on the top of the building in the back. You know, I was at 1200 Passy Yunk Avenue at a place called the Birthday Bar. Okay.
And I didn't leave that place for a while. Do you mind if I show the text exchange between the two of us from last night? Do you mind if I? No problem.
No problem. Okay, so I text him, hey, lots to talk about after the AFC Championship game. Sure, sure, sure. Here's a response I got. I'm so shitfaced. That's what he wrote. You know, we blurred it out, so I said the word. I'm sorry to the Roku channel audience, but did it before the radio returned.
I just wrote back, this is a delightful response. Yeah. So you're hydrating? Somebody tell, my coordinating producer, Mike Hoskins, says you were wearing goggles when you first logged on. Chris, you took them off? No, these are my green sunglasses.
I don't want to be disrespectful. One time I was on set and I had sunglasses on and Kurt Warner kind of gave me a hey, why do you have sunglasses on? Oh, okay. All right, well, listen, I just think it's just part and parcel of the moment right here on the Rich Eisen Show Radio Network with Chris Long. Good to see you, Chris. I met him from the link who works security down there. I see him every year and I'm always geeking out over his glasses. Yesterday, he goes, you know what, they're yours. So he just took them off and gave them to you. Yeah, we traded glasses.
I gave him my gas station glasses, but I got these bright green Eagles glasses. So, yeah, it was a great night. It was a great night, Rich.
I mean, I appreciate you battling through it to get to the Zoom to make your appointed round here on our program. What was it like to witness the scene for the NFC Championship game, Chris? It was incredible. I think, you know, the thing that the commanders had working against them was, and I don't know how much you all believe or buy into intangibles, but the Eagles were waiting for this game, you know, after that second matchup where it felt like the Eagles did everything wrong, you know, losing CJ Gardner-Johnson in that game, having trouble sorting routine concepts in the red zone, you know, getting tempo, giving up big plays, you know, that was a crazy, crazy game in the rubber match in the regular season. And I think the Eagles were relishing this opportunity to play this team again. And I think ultimately what you saw is, and this isn't taking anything away from the commanders, and I thought this would be a close game, but I did not have on my bingo card that they'd show up to the NFC Championship, NFC East Championship, and turn the ball over like that three times, you know, just very routine situations where you walk away and you say, hey, listen, like the commanders will be back. I think that quarterback is special, but it looked like an okay football team with a really good quarterback. And, you know, I think there is some regression to the mean when you get deeper into the playoffs, like teams become who you thought they might be.
And, you know, the commanders were picked to win six games. I think it was a tremendous success story for them and their way ahead of schedule. And now I think the key for them is going to be not to be a victim of their own success.
You know, the bar has been raised probably at a rate that, quite frankly, you weren't anticipating it being raised at two years into a build. But I think they should be very proud of what they did this year. And the Eagles were just bigger, better, more physical. That roster is incredible. Getting a chance to see them a few times in person this year and going down on the field and seeing some of my buddies and, you know, giving Lane a hug before the game. Jordan, Juergens, Dickerson, you know, they're huge. All those guys are enormous.
And when they start leaning on you, you think the commanders' edges are pretty average-sized edge players in the league. You know, you lose pain in this, you know, before the game. It felt like there was not a short yardage situation that the Eagles couldn't convert. And, you know, six, seven rushing touchdowns is what it felt like.
I don't know what it was. It was seven, and it's a record, and it's unbelievable. And we've never seen three from two different people. Hertz and Saquon are the first pair of teammates to have three rushing touchdowns in the same playoff game.
It was unbelievable, Chris. And the fact that, you know, you do go down, you do know what a Howie Roseman, you know, from Joe Banner down to Howie Roseman style of roster. It's handle your business in the trenches. Get yourself a special quarterback if you can. Get yourself some, obviously, some wideouts if you can. And run the ball and own the trenches on either side of the ball, and you're going to wind up winning. All that said, dude, Saquon Barkley's the MVP of this team.
It's just kind of that simple. And I know Hertz just had the best game that he's had, I think, since the Super Bowl loss. And I'm talking about regular season. He had his best game since losing the Super Bowl where he could have been the MVP of a losing team for only the second time in the history of that game. But when the commanders start with 18 plays, settle for three, make a couple fourth downs, Saquon ripping one off from 60 yards out.
That's, dude, I've never seen anything like it, ever. It takes so much air out of, you know, you have this game plan. You're going to stick to it. You're going to possess the football. You know, you're going to go on an eight-minute drive. You're going to convert on fourth down, although you don't go on the last fourth down, which to me in a game you know you're probably going to chase points.
It's never too early if you know yourself and you know your enemy, you know. So in that situation, I would have gone. But the fact that Saquon ripped that run off the first play of the game just flipped the script. And, you know, at that point, speaking to the roster – and I'll say this. I saw Howie after the game, saw Jeffrey, saw Nick.
And, you know, I said to Howie, I was like, man, this isn't an accident. When you're back here with three different teams, three very different teams. I mean, there's a lot of crossover from the team that went a couple years ago. But they've made key additions. You know, Zach Bond, players like that, coaches like Vic Fangio, rookies like Mitchell, Dejean. They're doing things right organizationally.
It's not just an accident. And I think that's the biggest thing I came away from that game and this run is like what an organization now. You can say that whether they win this Super Bowl or not. I think they've cemented themselves as, you know, one of the few organizations in the NFL that have a way of doing things. And sometimes it's hard to put your finger on it with the Eagles.
I think that's what's so interesting, you know, from the hires to the way Nick operates to some of the moves. Like, hey, we're going to de-emphasize the running back position, the linebacker position for a long time. Then all of a sudden we're going to bring in a guy like Zach Bond, whose first team All-Pro Defensive Player of the Year candidate and a running back who absolutely changes the dynamic of the whole thing. So when I look ahead to Kansas City, you know, I think that Saquon signing that got him here might be the difference.
You know, I'm not sure I'm not ready to pick that game. But when you watch the Buffalo Bills go for 100 yards in the second half pretty quickly on the ground, this Eagles front is better and the backs better, as good as James Cook is. I think it's all going to be about the chess match between Spags and Kellen Moore and Jalen. And for Jalen, let me say this, he's going to get held a lot of the talent around him against him, and I've done it before. You know, sometimes you look at this roster might be one of the best rosters in the past 10 years in the NFL, like top to bottom. And so the quarterback is going to get a lot of heat when they don't win, and the style of play has not lent itself to him being heavily celebrated. But he's a winner, and he gutted it out last week and made the plays he needed to make this week. And, you know, I'm super happy for him, and he's got a chance to do the unthinkable, to dethrone the Chiefs, you know, and get back there again. I think he's the first, is he the first quarterback that lost the Super Bowl like that?
And I saw some stat today. What was it, Kevin? I got it for you. I got it for you. Jalen Hurts is the first quarterback to lose his first Super Bowl appearance and get back to the game since Jim Kelly did it three times.
And everyone else since then has not made it back until Jalen Hurts just did. That's correct. That's really impressive, and thank you, Rich. That's not my strong suit. I got you, brother.
Breeding the opioids and recalling them with accuracy, but whatever it was, it impressed me hearing that. And, you know, he's shown a lot of resolve, so I got to tip my cap to him and the entire organization. Well, listen, recalling stats might not be your strong suit, but getting poop-faced and coming on and giving some excellent conversation the next day isn't my strong suit. So I appreciate you. We're both filling each other's gaps in right now. You've got to stop drinking at, like, 10 o'clock.
That's the key. You stop drinking at 10 o'clock, you sober up by 2 a.m., and I was up at 1 a.m. after I rode the Four Seasons elevator in Philadelphia, which is a spectacular elevator ride. I rode it up and down probably seven times. I sat in my room and watched the Kansas City Buffalo game again because, you know, I definitely was watching that game at the birthday bar, but I did not see it in detail. The eye in the sky was a little blurry at the birthday bar. It was, but I had my Bill's glasses on.
I like it. I was sleeping at the TV. We had a back room.
It was amazing, but, you know, when you watch it back, you really picked up a lot of stuff you don't see when you're drunk at a bar watching the thing. Wait, Chris, did you do the bench press at the tailgate I saw people doing? That was kind of cool.
Yeah, that's a great question. You know, my sidekick, Bo Allen. He did. He was impressive, Bo. He did it a couple weeks ago.
He's a real potter kid. Yeah. Now, he didn't break the record, which, you know, bench is kind of an everyman thing where you could get some steroids and probably you could be like anybody and win a competition.
So, you know, I think Bo had some stiff competition that's passed through that lot over the years. I did see yesterday a pig roast in a shopping cart. That was my favorite thing that I saw. And then I met Wolfie from the Howard Stern show, which was a big deal as well, to my mom especially, who was tailgating with me. She loves the Howard Stern show. Who doesn't, right?
I see at the link and Bo bench pressing is just one of the many things. Fantastic. So in the few minutes I have left with you, I'd love to get your impression on the AFC championship game because you know our business. It's going to be all about what the Bills could have done, what they didn't do, because Allen has his kryptonite in Mahomes again. And so what is your opinion of the Bills' performance in this game and what we should take out of it legitimately as to how it could have been different?
Chris? Well, I think a couple things happening in this game changed the whole thing. I mean, Benford going out early in the game flipped the whole thing. The Bills' defense, especially the safety position with Cole Bishop up and DeMar Hamlin, was going to be a problem. But Benford's a good player and you were going to need him, especially with as much man as they seemed to want to play last night.
And they were stubborn about that. And Elam comes in and you feel bad for him because he's getting picked on and he's not supposed to be out there. But when you look at that secondary as the game goes on, you know, it's just not competitive.
And Mahomes, Reed, two good, crossers, bunches and stacks, all the little things, they do them right in the passing game. And, you know, as the game went on, I thought the biggest play was, and I had been pounding the drum for weeks, talking about it. And I watched every damn penalty assessed against Chiefs opponents over the last two Super Bowl runs this past week.
People saying they get calls and that sort of thing. I've been, you know, trying to be as balanced as I can and say, hey, I don't see it. But I got to tell you, I thought Josh had that first down. And I think if he has that first down, they win that game. It didn't go that way. And then at the end of the game, spags his excellence, heating them up at the right time, and the slide being the wrong way.
Just chaos. People say Josh should have hit Khalil Shakir on the orbit motion. You know, he's got a guy in his face. I mean, the play was over, Chris. I think to me that's asinine.
Yeah. To try to parse that play that way when the guy puts the ball on the tight end at probably the 40-yard line. I don't know where it was.
It's unreal. He put it on him. You know, I don't know that he meant to put it there, but he put it right on his hands, and the guy didn't come down with the ball. And in that situation, I believe, again, we're going to have an opportunity to tie that ball game where the bill is. And so, listen, I don't want to take things away from the Chiefs. I think it goes without saying, we all marvel at what they've been able to do. The hardest thing in the NFL is to get back on the horse and do it again. And to do it again, and now maybe again, puts them in rare, rare, rare air.
Whatever happens in two weeks. I was so impressed with Kansas City's interior defensive line, and conversely, just disappointed in the Bills and their game plan on two-point conversions, short yardage. You know, I know you're picking them up, but I would have liked to see a little bit more creativity in those situations. And it felt like some of those plays were kind of throwaways, and I know they're not. But that's what won the game for the Chiefs. Those guys in the middle, namely Chris Jones, who I believe had eight pressures in the first half. You know, when old Josh Allen came out, the first series is because Chris Jones was wreaking havoc. And that dude is going to be item number one for the Eagles. But they got a lot out of Worthy.
So impressive. Just, you know, the Chiefs can be whoever they need to be. The one thing I was going to say, if it was a shootout, I thought it favored the Bills. And we had a shootout, and the old Chiefs came out.
And I do believe getting Hollywood Brown back for that Texans game late in the season, unlocked, having that extra guy, makes it really hard to cover down. And now they can do this stuff again. And it's scary.
Very scary for an Eagle. I look forward to seeing all that. What's the Greenlight pod plan? What's your show plan? We can get out there for people today. Probably get down on Wednesday, Rich. I have to do what I did last night, especially early in the week.
Try to pace myself. You know, the Eagles being in the game is certainly good for business. I won't pretend it's not. And I'm hoping to see a great football game. I think the health of the Eagles offensive line is going to be paramount. I think that's the whole thing.
You know, it's been no secret. The guys have been banged up up front. And I think if they're healthy, that phase of the game certainly favors the Eagles. I think they're going to be able to run the football. The question is, when they get into must-pass situations, the screen game, things that the Chiefs have done a really good job of, the little things.
Can you pick up spags as very creative pressures? That's what the game's going to come down to. Well, I'm thrilled to hear that you're going to be down in New Orleans and certainly there for Wednesday. I am planning on going to Kelsey's party on Wednesday night. And now I know I can be coached up properly on when to drink, how to drink, get ready for the next day. You'll walk me through it. Take it one drink at a time. Hope for the best. You know, come out with a game plan.
Try to follow it. We'll probably do some soco and lime. That's what we did last night. They said, Chris, what kind of shots do you want? I said, I don't know why I said it. I said, soco and lime.
And then they started bringing out Jaeger. Oh, oh, well, it was rough. It was rough. OK, well, look at you.
I might have had it might have had a dart outside. Happy birthday. It was that kind of night. Chris Long, everybody.
Chris Best. We'll see you in New Orleans. Thanks again. Appreciate it. Take care. See you in New Orleans. Have me on your show, please.
Anytime. Hey, we're going to get the guests going again. You've got to be like, yes, one.
Let me know. OK, Chris Brockman and I are just looking forward to having a drink with you at the new heights party. That's what I'm talking about. That's where you guys were.
That's our annual hangout. And it's right that the fearless leader is going to show up this time. Thanks, Chris.
Appreciate it. Chris Long, everybody. Green light with Chris Long potty's off. He's doing it. Great stuff.

But before all that, during all this, that you've reached your professional pinnacle in that regard. Finally, after a long wait, how has that changed things for you? Yeah, you know, I told my wife, I said, here we've been doing it a long time. And a lot of the guys are we've been together for a long time here, coaches. And so we've got like 221 wins. And all of a sudden, that 222nd win. Four hours of football changes kind of everybody's perspective on things and about you and the organization.
And it's I mean, it's a neat deal. The thing is, once you taste it, you want to get back. So like every coach, we're shooting for this thing, but even that adds a little bit more to it after you've been there. And then Mahomes, the memories of you just sitting next to Mahomes, just sitting right next to him, as soon as he comes off the field, just chit chatting. How do you think that helped his development and did lead to the guy who's like, let's use the wasp, you know, in the fourth quarter of a Super Bowl trying to turn things around?
Yeah. Listen, it's a trust thing. I know he wants to be the best. He's not going to sit there and boast about that and tell people that he wants to be. He wants to maximize all of his potential. As a coach, you love that. So he wants you to give him one more thing to even be greater than what he already is. And you can appreciate that.
He's going to do nothing but get better, Rich. That's what's so great. I know, but it's crazy. It's crazy, right?
I mean, what does he have to improve on? Andy, what do you think? Well, I joke him. I say, listen, quarterbacking is a lot like being a farmer.
It works never, never done. There's something in the game that you can work on. And then it's our responsibility to give them new challenges. And so there's so much you can do offensively in football right now. And they're really – there's no rules as far as – I mean, there's certain rules.
We've still got to stop at red lights. But there's a lot of ways to get to it. So the expansion, I guess, of offense is the way the colleges are playing now. It's greater than it's ever been.
And we're able to utilize more field than we've ever used. So let's explore that. And let's not say anything's impossible until we prove it's impossible ourselves.
Let's try that. And then we'll see where we end up. You know, who knows?
And then who knows where they end up. I mean, you just heard that. That was during COVID in May of 2020, right? And he talked about how he and his wife were talking 222 wins. And just one Super Bowl changes the way everyone looks at you.
How about now? He's got 301 wins and two more rings. And look at him now. He could be – He's going to be on coaching Mount Rushmore when it's all said and done. There's no doubt about that.
I mean, unreal. Andy, this used to be the guy that didn't know how to finish games, didn't have a great clock management, couldn't win with McNabb and Brian Westbrook and Sean McCoy. Look at him now. One of the greats. Back here on the Rich Eyes and Show radio network, sitting at the Rich Eyes and Show desk, furnished by Grainger with supplies and solutions for every industry. Call clickrainger.com or just stop by. Jason and Phoenix, you are here on the Rich Eyes and Show. What's up, Jason? Hello. All right. Thank you. Rich, oh my gosh. You're really doing that, huh?
What am I doing? The Chiefs, you know, they played really well, I'd say. They got all four sides of the ball down really well. They got the offense, the defense, the special teams and the refs. There you go.
Okay. They got fourth and one makes a difference. Kincaid dropping that pass makes a difference. Worthy literally did not have two hands on the ball.
He had one arm on the ball. But that didn't matter, Jason, instead of it being that the Chiefs went out at the 25. Yeah, that's the thing people are going to do. Yeah, but it doesn't matter. Well, if it doesn't matter, let's just not do it. Let me ask you a question.
Sure. Did it hit the ground? Let me ask you a question, Jason, if we're going to do this here.
I mean, do you know how many penalties the Bills had called on him yesterday? Oh, so what about is him then? No, no, it's not. It's not. Let's answer my question.
No, it's not. The Bills had six penalties. The Chiefs had five. Let me just say one thing. Please, I apologize. Sure. And this is all just because people are going to say Josh Allen cannot do this, he can't do that.
I'm not one of them. If Kincaid holds onto that pass, if they don't get that fourth and one call going their way, he does do that. So let's not do that. Let's not say he cannot is all I'm saying. And I agree with you, Jason. Thank you for the call.
I'll get deeper into the Bills later on. But it's got nothing to do with Josh Allen can't do this, can't do that. Dude threw an incredible touchdown to Mac Hollins that right before halftime.
Holy crap. And then on fourth down, Samuel touched down to tie the game. OK, so. But the officiating six penalties on the Bills, five on the Chiefs. Now, the totals don't matter. It's when they're called.
OK, understood. Then what about a third and 10 goes to third and 15 instead of third and five? It was a false start. That's what it was called, Chris. But it was an offside before there was a false start.
If you watched it, which you did. Listen, I mean, the ball hit the ground, too. I mean, I just don't know what we're doing.
I understand. But because it's it's Chiefs fatigue. The Chiefs do get a lot of calls. Mahomes is somebody who gets calls and a lot of people think he doesn't need them.
So why does he get them? Here's the fourth down the fourth down call. Let's get let's get let's get every incompletion or everything that you're just holding your breath that you don't see the flag pop up.
And like that is the weirdest. It's so bad for the sport. It's so bad for the sport. This is what the head coach of the Buffalo Bills had to say about the fourth down call that did not go the Bills way. I think I mean, the look the look we had in the in the in the stadium, which you don't know if they're I don't know for sure, because they have a mixed look feed in the stadium. If it's the same feed that the TV had or not, I thought he had it. The line was the just just short of the line was actually the first down. What it looked like to me when the when it was sitting next to me with the marker just inside that that white stripe was the first down.
And it looked like he got to it. That's all I can say that make it tougher when these games come down. Yeah, of course it does.
Darn right, it does. I mean, that's a possession. We're up one point, I believe at the time, a chance to go up maybe multiple scores at that point. It's a big call. It's absolutely a big call. No doubt. I thought it was a first down and the technology's got to exist.
I think it does. I just don't know if the league's going to install it. But if you can put a chip in the football, I mean, Jim Nance was talking about it. I think when we were NFL Network was doing our first Super Bowl.
Right. He came on when he was the host of the NFL today with Dion and Boomer Sison and our first ever Super Bowl in Houston. When Brady and the Patriots are going for the first of back to backs. And he was talking about a chip being in football.
I was like, OK, Jim, guess what? I'm sure it exists. I'm on, you know, refs with frickin lasers on their head, whatever you got to do.
And you GPS it. All I would just ask is the gambling community that wears their tinfoil hats doesn't say, well, who's in charge of that technology? That's all I ask is that if this thing comes and it will arrive and we can actually pinpoint it down to the millimeter where a football should be and whether it is a first down or not. Then, yeah, let's do it. Let's use it.
Let's utilize it. Let's let's have the league pay for it. And then so you don't have to have these conversations and people aren't sitting there thinking, well, the league wants to see the Chiefs and not the Bills. Really? Really?
OK. The Buffalo Bills would be terrific for business, too. If the Bills were in this Super Bowl, it would be off the charts in terms of level of interest of the Eagles versus the Bills. It would be insane.
But I don't know why they decided to not give the first down to the Bills in that one. I don't understand it, but get the technology and use it 100 percent. You know, 100 percent.
Go ahead and use it. But the the the crazy talk that would come from it. Well, how do we know it was actually, you know, with the GPS?
Who's in charge of the GPS? Does that person have an axe to grind? I don't know if I follow this argument by you. I mean, you don't hear that in tennis or any of the other sports where this this stuff is used. I know. The NFL is a different animal. Different animal. Completely different.
As much as I'd love for 50 million people, I don't know what the number is on this Bills-Cheaps game. It sure wasn't that for sinners. Australian open win. This is not the same. It's not. You know, there is gambling in tennis, but it ain't going to be that way, you know, for there wasn't anybody up in arms over Djokovic retiring in the middle of a match in Australia.
What would the argument be? It's either over the line or it's not. Yeah, because it's going to be just determined after further review.
The GPS says the ball's here. They're literally going to show it to us and we're going to see that it's a first down. OK, I hope that's the case. I don't think it will be, but I look forward to that day.
I just don't know if the league's going to go ahead and do it. Well, because they like the conversation. This will be talked about all week. I don't think they like the conversation that, you know, and the memes going around of I saw somebody sent me a meme last night, Bill Vinovich, wearing his red and white referee jersey. Oh, that's been going around all year. Yeah.
Those type of things finally landed on my in my text chain last night. Cooper sent it to you. He did not. Boy, he was not happy. He was not happy.
It's a mixture of being a Patriot fan, having Chiefs fatigue, seeing the Chiefs on commercials all the time. His older brother really doesn't really care that much about football, but loves Taylor Swift so much, wants to see Travis Kelce happy. So he hates that. And his younger younger sibling sibling is your favorite.
And so that also makes him angry. All right. I'll show I'll throw the challenge flag on that. But can I tell Cooper this? And I know you might be upset, bro, but take my word. Enjoy this, man, because this is greatness and greatness isn't something that comes around each and every year. You get like one great person per generation and that greatness resides in QB 15 right now. So I just tell everybody, just enjoy the ride if you can, man, because you don't get this all the time.
Really don't know. Well, he's the one who turned that extra first first down into points. And then Allen came right back at it. Unreal. You knew it would come down to the final couple of minutes, and it did.
