Coming up, host of Max's Second Chance Stage, Emmanuel Acho. And now it's Rich Eisen. Our number three of The Rich Eisen Show is on the air. Chopping up the college football playoff committees work a week before the conference championship weekend spits out a final group of 12 that will play for the college football championship this year.
Chopped it up with Bruce Feldman, our number one, the delightful Ken Jeong in studio. Emmanuel Acho will be joining us shortly here. Is he making his way from the facility right now? Oh, I don't know.
I would assume so, yeah. In support of Second Chance Stage that airs Thursdays on Max, which you can see right here on the Roku portal. He's hosting that show. He's going to be joining us in about 20 minutes time. So lots to talk about with him on this program. Overreaction Monday Pod is still out there for everybody to take in. It's been there since Monday. TJ Jefferson, you and O'Shea Jackson Jr. ready to chop it up with the great Trick Williams on No Contest Wrestling.
Yes, sir. Susie Schuster and Amy Trask recorded the latest episode of What the Football that's out there for you. Daniel Jeremiah had a lot to say about everything going on in the college football world and teams sitting there wondering who would fit where for their draft choices. I mean, cause right now there's say teams like the Chargers that Daniel covers on the radio here locally that are hoping to make the playoffs. And there are teams that are already in it or we know are going to make it. And then there's those teams that are desperately trying to make it. And then there's that dreaded tear of, we know this thing's over. It's a wrap. Or is there a dreaded tear of, I guess we know this thing's over or man, we know it's over, but we've got to win games because this is terrible or we've got to see what we have in X, Y, and Z or in the case of the Chicago Bears, man, they got to get some wins.
They can't have a six game losing streak turn into a seven gamer in San Francisco. And let's get Caleb Williams a win and get some confidence here for him. And Daniel had this to say about what he's seen from Caleb Williams, because you're already hearing again from people that, hey, look at Jayden Daniels, look at Drake May, look at Bo Nix, maybe Caleb shouldn't have been the first overall selection. And then this is what Daniel Jeremiah had to say on what the football on the subject matter of Caleb Williams. What about Caleb?
What do you see in there? Because he was supposedly set up to succeed and now we're seeing obviously some growing pains there as well. I still believe in the talent 1,000% and you see it. I mean, if you took the top 50 plays for all of these quarterbacks and put highlights together, you would still say, okay, Caleb's the best one. He just can do so many different things.
He's so gifted. And you're seeing that more, since the coaching change, you're seeing it, obviously there was a debacle at the end of the game that cost Eber Flus his job. But I still think with all the different things he can do, he can expand your playbook more than any of these other quarterbacks.
I just think when you say, okay, well, why didn't it work immediately? Well, their offensive line stinks. I thought from the outside in that they had, and sometimes this can be a defensive head coach thing, but more so, you know, just a collective effort of don't screw up-ism, don't, hey, don't do this, don't do that, don't turn it over, don't make a mistake, play on schedule, don't do this. And it's like, you guys have paralyzed this guy. This was his superpower, was to be able to be creative and make plays and be aggressive instead of having the mindset of like, hey, you're a rookie, we've got a great defense. If you are a little over-aggressive and go across the line and we happen to make a mistake, that's fine.
Be who you are. Our defense will pick it up and we'll be okay. Instead, it was like, they just paralyzed him. And that's why he was taking so many sacks.
I'd be watching tape going, you're so athletic, there's nothing there, get out, get out and go. And it's like, nope, I got to, I have to be a pocket passer, one, two, three, four, he's not there, okay, don't turn it over, don't turn it over, sack. And it's like, gee, many Christmas, just put some freedom back in his game.
And that's what Thomas Brown has done. You remember when there was a huge, I think it was just last year, wasn't it? A huge to do out of Chicago when Justin Fields says he was, felt like he was playing robotic. Yeah, yeah. Was that last year or the year before? Was it last year? Yeah, I remember that.
Robotic. And Luke Getze was the OC at the time and everyone's just like, do we know what we're doing here? And that's what kind of led to a lot of people thinking, well, when they bring in Caleb, they got to just bring in a whole new coaching staff and they didn't. And again, we'll dig out more if we're privy to it to see if Daniel's assessment from, as he said, the outside in is spot on. And I'll just say this as somebody who sits next to Daniel quite a bit from the months of February all the way through to May.
When his spidey sense goes off, it's about 100% accurate. Yeah. Yeah.
Paralyzed the kid. And again, he says defensive head coach, right? It's like a defensive minded head coach does that sort of thing, which is why- Don't turn it over. Don't turn it over.
Don't make mistakes. Defensive coaches are like, let us handle the problems on defense. The one thing we just can't have is the short fields. We can't have the short fields. Give us something other than the short fields.
And his way, Daniel, is like, guess what? We've got a great defense. If you give us a short field, so be it, because I know you're going to give us the touchdowns too.
And maybe that's the difference, just a mindset. We also heard when we were in London, even though the Bears walked out of London four and two and haven't won since, that whole business of Shane Waldron not scripting the first 15 plays and then started to do it after the players went to Iberfluz. According to this, Stacy Dales is reporting. The players went to Iberfluz and said, it would be helpful if we scripted the 15 instead of having just a menu of things that you'll then choose Shane Waldron and just choose on game day. Let's practice the 15. And Iberfluz's response was, you go say that to Shane Waldron. You go advocate for yourself to your offensive coordinator. And we heard that and we're like, is that a little weird? You know, it is weird. Because the coach has so much to oversee. Like, why wouldn't he tell them? Because you were going to say, okay, this is where we're doing it.
Shane, come on in here. This is what we're going to do. Right. And I guess I just always thought you had these coaches and you empower them. I don't know, man. All I know, and obviously this is unfair since I'm just sitting here. I'm not in the building. I haven't been in the building. I was just around the team for a few days, you know, two months ago almost now. But the bottom line is, whatever plan they had for Caleb Williams, coaching staff-wise, scheme-wise, throw that one out. They have scrapped, they scrapped it 10 weeks in. And now the guy who they elevated to be the OC has now been elevated to the HC. Hasn't worked.
I've got some Bears fans and they seem to like Thomas Brown. And rightfully so, I mean, there's clearly a bit of a difference here. Yeah. So let's do this before Emmanuel Acho joins us here on the program. Let's redraft.
Oh. Again, the conversation that Daniel Jeremiah had with Susie and Amy on What the Football, everybody check it out where you get your podcasts. He said everything that he sees makes him think that he still has the best talent of any quarterback that got drafted. Let's redraft. You have the draft order one through 10. I got the list, yeah, of course, one through 10. Now that we know who's doing what. Yeah, let's see. Let's go top 10 here, right?
Yep. And see how close we are to redrafting. What we're gonna do is we're gonna put a minute on the clock. We don't have to take the full minute.
A minute on the clock. The three of us will, you'll save a team. The three of us will chop it up like we're in the draft room.
And then. After the minute, we'll make our pick. We'll make our pick. Okay. And since I am the proprietor around here, I will, if it's a tiebreaker, I'll be the tiebreaking vote. Okay, great. Okay, we'll do that. Let's do it. And then when the minute's up, we'll have a clock on the screen.
Jason Feller, you play whatever drop you want. Really? Instead of a bell or a buzzer. Really? Okay. Are you kidding?
This is a dream. For instance, for instance, okay? All right, here we go, first up. All right, here we go. The Chicago Bears.
The Chicago Bears are on the clock. All right, the clock is on the screen with one minute to go. They took Caleb Williams? Would you take someone else? I understand Jayden Daniels.
If you want me to start the- Talk it out. I understand Jayden Daniels is doing what he's doing. And Drake May looks pretty good too. And Drake May looks pretty good. And Bo Nix.
Bo Nix looks really good. Don't you have to still sit there and say Caleb Williams is the biggest upside still? He's still got the biggest, you know, even though Jayden Daniels does have that calmness and does have that ability. I'm also scared a little bit based on, we saw that of CJ Strad, and this year he's taking a couple steps back. I also think the things that I was unsure about with Jayden Daniels, his build, not protecting himself, those are still a thing. He got hurt this year.
He didn't look right for a month or so. So we're leaning towards Caleb? I think I'd still take Caleb Williams. What do you think, TJ?
We got 15 seconds to go before we hear the drop. Caleb. You still think Caleb? Yes, no doubt. No question. Plus we just heard from our scout in the room, Daniel Jeremiah.
Yeah, that's a big influence too. Yeah. And as good as the other couple guys are playing, I think I still think Caleb's number one. I'm about to make a name for myself here. Okay, so we're up. Caleb Williams stays the draft choice. Stays like a befall.
Like a befall. All right, number two, the Washington commanders. Took Jayden Daniels. Is that still the pick?
How is that still not the pick? I agree. I mean, I think this could be- I agree with you. This is one of those where we don't have to take the full minute here. I mean, let's move on. Right? No, let's move this thing a little. And then do we then not even have to reset the clock and just keep it going for Drake May?
Keep it going. I think Drake May is a home run pick for New England. They couldn't be happier. He's seen what this kid has done since he's been out there.
The way he runs the ball and the decision-making, he just needs guys around him. Okay. Right. Correct? Correct. All right, there you go. So now we're on pick number four. Yeah, now it starts to get fun. Just like the real draft.
Yes. All right, so now let's reset it to a minute. Now the Arizona Cardinals are on the clock. They obviously took Marvin Harrison Jr. Jeez. I think you go Malik Nabors here. Malik Nabors instead.
Because you are still getting a weapon for... I think so. Having lost the guys in free agency, Trey McBride, Monster, you could take Bowers here and go double tight end B situation. No, you can't do that.
You can't do that. You got to get a wide out of wide outs. You take Joe Waltz, some protection for Kyler Murray. TJ Jefferson, Nabors over Marvin Harrison Jr. in the redraft, right? Look, Malik Nabors is nice.
Let's go on. But you guys know how I feel about Marvin. I've already put him in the hall of fame. So you're saying Marvin stick with him? Seven touchdowns on the year, yeah. I mean, Malik has way more receptions.
I don't know, man. Malik Nabors to me is the best wide receiver. I got to say, Marvin's been pretty underwhelming. Well, he's coming on strong a little bit here. That might be as part of the offense. I think it's part of the offense, Chris. It's not my job to get him the ball.
Earlier in the year, a little weirdly out of context, but still. Who the hell is Tim Horton? All right, there you go. Our Malik Nabors. Okay. We're going to draft Malik Nabors. Okay.
All right, now. I love it. The Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers are number five. They chose Joe Alt. They took Joe Alt. Would they go back and take Brock Bowers? No. I think based upon the way your coach likes to coach and run his offense. That's the end of the story.
I think they're still going to stick with Alt. It wasn't any, the fact that I sat there coming out of the combine and I'm like, well, Joe Alt's not a natural right tackle. A lot of people were saying that though. And I understand that.
But he's a specimen and he's 21 years old and he can learn the move. You know what popped in my Instagram algorithm the other day was Jim at the owner's meeting explaining about the offensive line and how it's the only position group in football that doesn't lean on anybody else to be great. They are great on their own. It's not like somebody else has to provide them with the time or this or that for great. It's just them.
And they are the most dependent on to provide everyone else to be great. You hear that from Harbaugh and it's just like, doesn't matter. Eyes and palooza. There you go. Thank you.
Great choice of a drop. So Joe Alt stays. Yeah, man. Not because that there aren't better potential fits but that's it. That's their way. Mindset of the coach. Correct. Six, who's six? Giants. Bonics. End of story. Redraft.
Bonics. Certainly with Malik neighbors off the board. Without a doubt, we are now going to utilize this segment for the purpose you had in mind when you suggested it. Which is let's take the bias of what we have seen over the last 12 weeks, even though we did it with Malik neighbors, over Marvin Harrison Jr. And Debo not on the level of Peyton in terms of Super Bowl, whatever, but offensive minded guy, mold that young quarterback. So what, Daniel Jones, does he start week one?
Daniel Jones starts week one. Okay. But they have a quicker hook. I think so. I think, yeah. Don't you think?
You push back? I would have said no because of the money that they paid him, but they let him go. But they didn't believe it. I told you what I heard at the combine.
So yeah, Bonics, that's the loop. They tried for Drake May and they didn't even. It's turned the card in. But Malik neighbors was a heck of a pick for them. Well, they don't take Marvin Harrison here? Do you want to go to war, Bilaki? No.
Because we could go to war. No. I'm for real. Wow.
That's a lot of drops. That's an extended version. Clearly time's up.
Bonics. Okay. End of story. I think the Giants do that. No Marvin?
Okay. Seventh overall. Seventh overall, the Titans, you know, they took JC Latham. This is, I think they take Marvin Harrison Jr. here, no? I think you're right. If Marvin Harrison Jr. is sitting there for Will Leviss and the Titans, and I know they went and they got Calvin Ridley in the free agency. Yeah. I think you go. Don't you do that? Especially because they ended up getting rid of DeAndre Hopkins.
Yeah. Or do you do Brock Bowers here? I think maybe this could be a Bowers spot. I think we're going to look back at Brock Bowers and wonder how the hell he fell the 13.
So Marvin Harrison Jr. is falling all the way down here on our draft board. Has he blown your socks off? He has not. This season?
No, not in the way that Bowers or middle league neighbors has. So let's do Bowers here for the Titans, right? I like it.
Don't you think? I like it. All right. Let's reset the clock.
Sorry, we didn't hear the drop. We went quick on this one. By the way, you're just having so much.
And buckle up. Okay, that would have been your Titan one of Rabil. Now. Yeah. The most controversial pick coming out of the draft, I think stays the same.
No, it does not. Look how Kirk Cousins looks for the Atlanta Falcons right now. Michael Pennix is better than any quarterback coming out in this year's draft.
Better than Chidor, better than Cam Ward, better than Quinn Ewers. You still think that they- I still think they take- DJ Jefferson. Pennix in the redraft.
You think they take Pennix in the redraft? I don't. Let me give you a name here. Cause if you don't recall. What do you think, Jerry Vers?
Bingo. I was thinking Vers or Evan Williams. No way. I mean, Evan Williams, be that as it may. I was thinking defense and I was thinking Vers. Well, coming out in that draft, it's just like they got everything else set up. They have everything else set up and they're gonna take the best defensive player available. Instead, they took Pennix. And I understand that you're saying, look how Cousins has looked over the last three weeks and you do need to set things up for the future. So go ahead and do it. But Jared Vers is just clearly in my mind, the defensive rookie of the year.
And they don't have, they don't have, oh boy. I kind of liked the Pennix pick just on how Kirkus looked, but you're the final call here. I'm going with Vers on that one. All right.
Vers. Yeah, man. Yeah.
Okay. Who's next up? Nine was the Chicago Bears. They took Roma Dunze. Well, now they're taking Marvin. I. Absolutely, they take Marvin Harrison. They take Olafishonou.
No. Take alignment. To protect. Take alignment. To protect Caleb.
They need to take alignment. And look how Keenan Allen we thought might've been a little bit washed coming into the year. He's been pretty good. DJ Moore, pretty good.
Cole Komet, still pretty good. Didn't need that extra car in the garage to take alignment. Okay. You need to protect your asset. You don't buy a Lamborghini and not insurance.
And then maybe Caleb isn't as paralyzed in the beginning of the year, taking all the sacks. Fashion new. Fashion new. It's fashion new week.
Not fashion new. By the way, that's the way I wrote it down on my notes to make sure that I got the name right. Okay. All right. See, that's what you guys say.
I can't. You know what? I'm going to delegate to my draft room here.
Okay. And then finally number 10. Well, the Vikings traded up to 10. J.J. McCarthy. So that's.
I think that might be Pennix. Well, look how Sam Darnold's looked this year. So, but the Jets would be sitting here at 10. The Jets would be at 10. So that the Vikings wouldn't trade up, would they? Or they'd still trade up for McCarthy? Or they'd trade up for Pennix instead? You think they'd do that, huh? Marvin Harrison's still available.
Get Marvin Harrison with Justin Jefferson and Hockinson coming back. I don't know how they don't do that. But they wouldn't trade up for him, would they? No, they could wait.
Well, I don't know. What do the Jets do? The Jets take Marvin Harrison. Marvin Harrison falls out of the top 10. Bowers is gone, right? Bowers is gone.
Oh, the Jets take Marvin Harrison. At 10? Oh, yeah.
What kind of defenders? Is it Byron Murphy? No, no, no. Or Watu-Watu? No, no, no. Or Flaga?
The Jets would have taken absolute, they wound up getting, you know. Does Quinion Mitchell go higher? Oh, perfect choice. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Didn't think about that. No, he's a possible defensive rookie of the year. Perfect choice. Or Cooper Dejean, right? Cooper Dejean.
Yeah. You ain't got no hitters, you ain't popping. How about, let's do the, how about this? You're the, this is the Jets pick. No trade. There is a trade.
Howie Roseman trades all the way up to take Quinion Mitchell anyway. That's probably what would have happened. That's what would have happened. That's the way we're finishing this segment.
That's probably what would have happened. We'll take a, well done. Well done.
That was fun. We'll take a break. Emmanuel Acho is coming out of our green room next in support of the show that he's hosting, Second Chance Stage. Don't go anywhere.

Second chance stage, the host of it right here, Emmanuel Acho, it airs Thursdays on max, which of course means you could see it right here on the Roku portal, right here on the Rich Eisen Show, also fresh off the set from the facility. You know it. Did you just finish and then come down here? Literally, I'm wearing the same outfit I wore on the facility. Nobody judged me, okay? No, just a judgment-free zone, Rich, I would hope.
Yes. But a phenomenal, epic sports day today, seven to nine a.m., waking up at five a.m., Rich, it never gets easy out here in California. Never does, no, I do it on Sunday, I do it before then on Sundays for Game Day Morning, man. I can't tell, because you look great. You know what, it's the makeup.
You got Sarah, our great makeup artist, you know, it all works out. So let me just jump in and something that I saw you were quite adamant about over the weekend was the flag planting from my alma mater in Columbus, Ohio and your take on it, the reason why I'm bringing it up, dovetails with mine. Isn't that interesting? And yeah, and the fact that I just could not believe the HC of TOSU was standing there watching this thing. I mean, you've been in situations, I imagine, on the field after a game when things are kind of a bit hazy is that what was going on with him, do you think? I think that he was shocked by the fact that he lost that game. I would suggest that that was the worst loss of any coach this year. I would also suggest Ryan Day took the worst loss of his coaching career, NFL included, when he wasn't a head coach.
I would also suggest there was not a more plausible worst loss to be had by any coach this year than the loss that Ryan Day took this year. So I think in that moment, he was in pure and utter shock. I also believe a lot of things cross your mind as an athlete and a coach in that moment.
I think the first thing is, am I gonna get fired? What in the hell just happened? How did that just happen? Where could I end up coaching next? I think so much goes through your head in moments like that that I don't think a lot of people realize. I think he was frozen, but you do not have the luxury of being frozen as a head coach at the Ohio State. I know, certainly when one of your warriors, one of your 11 warriors is melting down right in front of you, that kid, Jack Sawyer, who came with a huge pick on the goal line in this game. Rich, I believe what Ryan Day is freezing after the game, I think that was more egregious than anything he did during the game.
Come on. I think wholeheartedly, after the game, there are tons of people, your players included, are on the field in a brawl. Keep in mind, you can still go win a national championship. Michigan cannot. They won the battle.
Congrats to them, tip your hat to them if you will. You can go win the war. But if your players get suspended, because they're fighting, now you might both lose the battle and lose the war. The Hall of Fame college football coach, he told me, never let one loss beat you twice. You just lost to Michigan. That's the first loss. If you now lose players because they're fighting at midfield, that's your second loss. Never let one loss beat you twice.
Watching him frozen there, it was despicable to me, to me. Do you think they deserve to have a home game in the college football playoffs right now? My way of segwaying, I guess, to the other story of our sports day is what the college football playoff committee put out for the field of 12 last night. I don't think they deserve to have a home game. I think they had a couple big shots. They lost their first big shot against Oregon, obviously. You could suggest they won the big shot against Penn State. You know, whatever you think of Penn State, I don't think all that highly of Penn State.
And then Indiana, you know, again, not sure how highly we all think of Indiana. No, they obviously don't deserve to have a home game. They won't get a home game, clearly. Well, they're currently in line to get one right now against Tennessee. You think that things will- Oh, you're referencing, oh, I was thinking about the bye.
No. Do they deserve to have a home game? Yeah, I'll give them a home game. I was thinking about do they deserve to get the bye.
Got it. Do they deserve to have a home game? Yes, at the end of the day, you still beat a scorching hot Indiana team. But I have a philosophy on college football in general. All right, Emanuel, I'll show. But in theory, you beat a scorching hot Indiana team.
What is your, your in general philosophy? Here's the dilemma, because of how we rank teams, then you will beat ranked teams based upon where we've ranked teams before we ever knew if the teams were good or not. You tracking with me?
I do. The SEC, oh, you have all these meaningful wins against SEC opponents. Well, that's just because they were ranked high before we ever knew if they were worth the crap or not. So you beat a team that was ranked, but they were only ranked based upon a pre-season poll. Well, in the same way you look at the NFL, it's just like, wow, that's a really tough schedule that they're playing. And then by the middle of the season, suddenly you just played, you know, of their first eight games, two of them were only winning because of who, you know, what their records are right now.
And then things change at the very end. Or let's just say you're somebody who does a three hour sports talk, radio and television show that once upon a time thought the Bills weren't going to win the division. And you said such a thing. Oh, you were on that highlight tape too. Yes, sir.
Yeah, we were both on it, Rich. But we made these decisions before a game was played. A thousand percent.
But that's just the nature of our beast, is it not, Emanuel? For this is like in the NFL, at least the teams you beat don't have bearing on your playoff implications based upon some sort of strength of schedule. In college football, it's all predicated upon strength of schedule. Everything is predicated upon, oh yeah, well, we beat five ranked opponents. Well, how good are those ranked opponents now? Or they were ranked at the time and they're no longer ranked.
Or when you beat them, they weren't ranked, but look at them now. Exactly, like when I talk about a team like Indiana, my suggestion, I said, Ohio State scored 31 unanswered points against Indiana. Y'all really think 11 other teams are letting Ohio State score 31 unanswered on them? When people are like, oh, Indiana's all that good.
Ohio State scored 31 unanswered. So how good is Indiana really? You know, obviously Indiana's a great story, but there's a difference between a great story and a great team. Good team, but they're not necessarily a great team. But I think they're currently seeded, what are they, sitting at eight?
You know what I mean? They're currently seeded, they're a great team. Phenomenal story, I love what Signetty's doing, but I just think that's one of the philosophical flaws in college football.
Yeah, I wouldn't know what it's like to have 31 unanswered scored on your team by Ohio State. Wow. You're still in the gloating phase? Oh, this is gonna last another whole year, 365.
And it's been going on for the last three. Oh, it's been like a presidential term. Yeah.
I'm running for re-election next year. Do you not feel bad? No. Like a part of you should feel bad. Well, explain to me which part should feel bad. The part that last year, you got everything you could ever ask for in life as an Michigan. That's true, that's true. You got it all, you got everything, check, check out the box.
Check that box, yeah, yeah, yeah. Ryan Day, he looked sad, like as a human. Forget your Michigan-ness for a moment, as a human. Do you wanna see a photograph of me for the eight years? Do you know how sad I looked? I came on this show and I talked a game that I thought my school was gonna back up. And I wound up wearing Michigan, I wound up wearing Ohio State hats and jerseys.
And you know, I've never took a picture outside once. Oh my God, the number of Buckeyes that come on our show and talk smack to me. And I had zero retort, I was retortless. I couldn't say anything for eight years. And now I'm supposed to feel bad. When you saw the picture of Ryan Day standing there, Rich, with near tears welling up in his eyes, and you felt nothing, nothing. If that means I'm an empty shell of a man, I have no heart. Are you kidding me? Oh, he felt joy. I mean, there are tears that I'm collecting by a cup right now and turning into a martini. Are you kidding me? He has a few sips every morning with his breakfast. And here's the twist for that martini.
A five loss team with a walk-on quarterback and a passing game that is only better than two service academies coming in and they've got wide outs like they had and they didn't even use that advantage. And I'm supposed to feel because the coach looks sad? Emmanuel, aren't you?
We have just met in person, sir. What's a tier martini taste like? Oh, a tier martini, salty. And I'd like to add a little bit more and then find the wound and rub it in. Come on, you don't feel that way about Oklahoma?
Back when you were playing? Come on now. Here's what I have to think. That rivalry didn't make you feel that way? People ask me, do I hate Oklahoma?
And I always say, no. Because without Oklahoma, Texas isn't Texas. Without magic, bird isn't bird. Without bird, magic isn't magic.
You need the antagonist to have the protagonist. So to me, I mean, if I were you, I would gloat. I would gloat. But Ohio State, this should have been their year. I personally, as a neutral fan, I cover college football for Fox every day from 9 a.m. for on Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
I watch you on here. As a neutral fan, I really said, I feel bad. Mind you, Chip Kelly, my former Eagles head coach is the OC for Ohio State. Understood, I like Chip. I liked Chip a lot, but I just felt terrible. I really liked Chip when he ran it on third and 10. So, Chip. You walked into that one. Oh, my God.
Immanuel, Immanuel, Immanuel. Every day, please. Every day. Make it stop.
Right now. Make it stop, make it stop. You should see it. The fact that you said that this Ohio State team is as good as it is, and by the way, it still has a chance to prove it. Which Michigan does not. Yeah, they're handicapped, the quarterback. You think so, huh?
Handicapped, I don't think so. Chip thinks so. with their play calling. Bro, it was third and eight coming out of third and seven coming out of their own goal line. They ran the ball. Then, I think the play you're talking about, I think it's third and nine, third and ten going in.
Yeah, going in. And you ran the ball. After Caleb Downs just picked them off. People ask like, hey Emmanuel, how you feel about this quarterback? How you feel about Jaden Hurts? How you feel about Will Howard?
Don't ask how I feel. How does their coach feel? Watch how they call the game.
You know how they feel about Will Howard. Watch how they call the game. Ohio State was playing not to lose. They weren't playing to win. And if you play not to lose, you inevitably lose. Watch how they call the game. Any sport, forget what the analyst says. Just watch how the coach calls the game.
That tells you everything you need to know. Well, the fact that they were supposed to win in Michigan then did, it makes it even sweeter. Now we can see eye on that. If you're happy, I'm happy. Well, listen, it's possible.
Let's just give Ryan Day a chance on the second chance stage. On max. Right? There may be an eye in Rich and Eisen, but I'm a team player.
You know what I mean? Certainly when I'm sitting in the host chair right here. Emmanuel Acho here on the Rich Eisen Show. Best team in the National Football League at present is? The Philadelphia Eagles.
Why is that? The Eagles know how to win. Period. Say what you will about Jalen Hurts. I say a lot. Jalen Hurts is the second best winner in the National Football League.
Okay, who's the best winner? Patrick Mahomes. Patrick Mahomes defense right now, letting him down in the worst way. Not to mention the offense isn't doing great as well.
So the Philadelphia Eagles, when you think about what they can do offensively, it's just a numbers game. At the end of the day, you need to keep an extra dude in the box to stop Saquon Barkley. But AJ Brown might be one of the most underrated receivers in football and people know he's good.
So that just tells you how good he is. People don't talk enough about Jeff Stoutland, the offensive line coach. Jeff Stoutland for the Philadelphia Eagles. I have seen him firsthand turn a rugby playing defensive tackle into a $70 million left tackle. So when I think about what the Eagles can do offensively, what they're doing defensively, Vic Vangeo, the defensive coordinator, I believe he's really the architect for the modern 3-4 defense. There is no team who's gotten more out of their players than the Eagles.
There's no team I think that's playing better than the Eagles and I don't think there's a more complete team than the Eagles. Well, I mean Greg Bond is the perfect example of getting something out of players, right? Zach Bond is an absolute beast. He is unreal what he's doing right now.
But the way to avoid any issues on offense is to have your running back run through the red zone into the end zone. What he's doing, you know, the MVP conversation right now is down to two guys, would you agree? Josh Allen and Saquon Barkley? It is. Jared Goff could make a push.
You think so, huh? That five interception game on national television hurt him. Jared Goff could make a push. Funny enough, Jalen Hurts could make a push. But Jalen and Saquon may cannibalize each other as a votes-wise. Yeah, I just think again we saw Jalen Hurts in his Super Bowl season and he's playing as well right now than right now as he did in that Super Bowl season. The difference maker is Barkley.
He is just a difference maker where he'll turn a one score game into a two score game and then soon make it a three score game. At the most pressing times, third quarters, fourth quarters, on the road. Let me ask you this.
What's more important? Because I have this tense debate all the time with myself. I say it all the time on my show. I'm an MVP voter and so I think about this stuff a ton, far too often. Saquon I suggest is like the Mariano Rivera, the ultimate closer. But Jalen, AJ Brown, they're the openers. Fourth and three, New York Giants.
What are you gonna do? You throw the goal ball to AJ Brown. I've seen the Eagles lose games with Saquon on the field. I haven't seen them lose a game with AJ Brown on the field. With Saquon on the field, they got two losses.
Their losses came when AJ didn't play. Reason I say this is Saquon is the ultimate closer. He turns a seven point game into a 14 point game. He turns a 14 point game into a 21 point game. He turns a three point game into a 10 point game. But is that more valuable than what Josh Allen does? Like is that more valuable than Josh Allen with who knows at wide receiver, shout out to the acquisition of Amari Cooper, but Keyon ain't played in a while. Dalton Kincaid, first round pick from last year. He been out. Offensive line is cool.
They solid. Running back, shout out to James Cook. He's been an ascending player over the last three years.
Defense of a bunch of, with all due respect, no names. Shout out to what Bernard's been able to do when Matt Milano was hurt. Josh Allen got them at 10 and 2? At 10 and 2? You were not wrong when you said that the Buffalo Bills were gonna fall off a cliff to some degree this year.
I said the same thing. Based upon their roster, they do not have the talent based upon the names at the roster at the beginning of the season to compete, and yet Josh Allen has them at 10 and 2. It's just, it will be very hard outside of Saquon breaking a record record-rich. It'll be very hard for him to win him.
Okay, so then the last one for you here. We'll do what's more likely a quick one with with Emmanuel Ocho. What's more likely, Bills win the Super Bowl or Texas wins the National Championship?
Texas was a nanny. That's way more likely. No, is that is that the burnt orange in you coming out here? No, for the Buffalo Bills to win the Super Bowl eventually, eventually. Yes. You gotta have dudes. Eventually. Josh can do a lot. He's the dude.
But we've seen Josh go 9 for 30, if I'm not mistaken, against the Houston Texans. Now, they got Amari Cooper since, but eventually I'm just asking you, like, what happens, what happens when Amari has somebody, a DB, that can lock him up? What happens? What happens? Like, eventually I think you're gonna run out of bullets.
Okay. And can Josh carry them for four straight games? Can he do it? And so Texas has an easier path. And Texas just got, they got weapons, bro. Oh, they got, they got backups that could be starters. Arch Manning is a backup.
You got Arch Manning on the bench? Him scoring that for his first touch in the history of Texas versus Texas A&M, which has got a vast history, but hasn't had one over the last decade. For him, for him to put that one in the end zone, that was something else. Heck yeah, it was. He's a future. He is that.
And TJ Jefferson's ready to buy a boat from the car. Notice how I didn't gloat about Texas beating Michigan. You should stand to learn a thing or two, Rich. Excuse me, Emmanuel Acho, we took a beating in our house from your school.
And I didn't say anything. We took an absolute beating, but all that was doing, you didn't know it at the time, I didn't know it at the time, was just slow playing for Ohio State. We were just slow playing. We were like, you know what, that was a terrible loss. Let's get four more of those. And just rope a dope our way into Columbus and turn everybody else into the dopes. That's what we did.
Let me ask you, I just got one for you. I know you got to dismiss me. Was this season, don't say it like that. Was this season worth it? Like all those losses but you beat Ohio State?
No, no, no, no, I don't view it that way. Would you rather be 11 and 1 and move to Ohio State? Of course, I want to be in this 12. I want to follow up a championship with a chance to do it again instead of what I, I mean, that was a long ass three months, man. Nine and three but lose to Ohio State. I don't want to lose to Ohio State, ever. So would you rather this six and five season, maybe seven and five season with the win over Ohio State?
I don't want a six and five or seven and five season ever. I don't want it. I don't want it.
And no one should want it. And no one's gonna sit here and go, I would, I would give you know, of the worst possible season, all we got to do is beat Ohio State and and and the season is redeemed. That's the way Ohio State uses this rivalry.
I don't view it that way. Ohio State, they think they go to sleep thinking about Michigan, they wake up thinking about Michigan, and then in one week of the season, they can't even spell the word Michigan. They don't like saying the word Michigan. Ryan Day's like, we don't even wear blue this week. Get out of here. You're wearing blue. It's like, maybe you should start wearing blue. Maybe you should start spelling the word Michigan.
Maybe you should just say, instead of the school up north, just call them Michigan. Try something else because the last four years it ain't working. It ain't working. Oh, this man told me not to gloat. Told me not to gloat.

Shopify.com slash Westwood one. Told a story about the genesis of All right. All right. Yes. All right. Here's where that comes from. So days confused.
Yes. Genius film. I'm in the right bar the right time. And a guy goes, Hey, you ever done any acting?
You might be right just right for this part. Legendary cast director and producer Don Phillips. I come back and they do what's called a makeup and wardrobe test, meaning they're shooting another scene one night, I'm just going to show up director is going to step off the set and come and look and go, great. I approve.
Well, he comes and looks he goes, Jesus is worse. It's great. He goes, Listen, you're not scheduled to work tonight.
But we're over here at the top notch drive through. And you think Wooderson might want to pick up on the redheaded intellectual? And I'm like, sure. And he goes, want to shoot it? I'm like, sure. So I go get in the car. But shoot my first scene ever in a film of your career of my career. And I had been listened to a lot of 70s rock and roll at that time.
There was a certain live recording of a Jim Morrison concert in like Amsterdam or somewhere where he barks at the crowd. All right. All right. All right. All right.
Four times real aggressively, though. I'm not thinking about that. But this comes back. So I'm in the car. And I'm like, Who's my man? I'm nervous. I'm about to hear act. Who's my man?
Who's worse? And I said, Well, I'm about my car. And I go, Well, I'm in my 70 Chevelle. There's one. I said, I'm about getting high. I said, Well, Slater's riding shotgun.
You know, he's got a Dubois rolled up. There's two. And I said, I'm about rock and roll.
And I said, Well, I got Nuju Stranglehold in the eight track, man. There's three. And I hear action.
And I look up and in my mind, I go, and I'm about chicks. I got three out of four. Let's go get the fourth. All right. All right. All right. Wow. That was it.

See store for details. The Atlanta Falcons, once upon a time, sitting right there atop the NFC North, well, South, while the rest of the division began to fall apart with the Saints firing their coach and the Carolina Panthers hoping that Bryce Young's sabbatical would return him to a bit of form. And that has happened. But the Falcons have fallen apart. Three straight losses around a bye week, while the Bucks have now tied them in the record department. Good news for the Falcons, though, is they've swept the Bucks.
They have that tie break. But Kirk Cousins, going back to Minnesota, coming off of a four interception game, the question to Rahim Morris was if he has confidence in his quarterback coming off of these performances. A concerning trend, because I don't think he'll do it again. You know, it'd be concerning if I thought it was repeatable for him to be able to go out there and do that because he just couldn't see it or didn't know what he was doing. You know, we just made some critical mistakes in those positions that we can't make. You can't turn the ball over four games, four times in a game, and expect to win.
And I've said that, like, coming off the game, going to support him, we've almost found a way to do it, you know, which is remarkable considering what that was. And we just can't have those things happen again. So it's not like a concerning thing because I don't think, you know, could it happen again? I mean, anything could happen.
Football. But I'm not concerned about it happening with Kirk just because of the knowledge base that he has, the amount of attention and the detail he'll put into his work. Obviously, the quarterback and the head coach get all the blame for all those type of things. And they also get all the credit. And when we were winning, we got all the credit. And now, we deserve all the blame. And now we got to go out there and fix it. I do love reheat, Morris.
Same. That said, they're going back to a spot in Minnesota where some fans will be like, we've seen these games get repeated. Yeah, usually they're in prime time. Oh my God, this guy. And coming into the season, the question has always been, since they drafted Michael Penix Jr., is what happens when things go a little bit south for Kirk Cousins and the team? Three straight losses, blown out in Denver after losing in New Orleans, then a bye, then what we just saw against the Chargers. We were all like, what happens if people start asking for Michael Penix? That moment has arrived.
13 weeks in, the moment's arrived. The coach was asked directly that in his press conference. This league is built on pressure. And I know, you know, pressure in this league, you better be ready to deal.
My whole deal is, man, we pick Penix with a, with a real purpose, right? Our future quarterback. And when that happens, that happens. And he's getting the line, he's getting ready. And if he's called upon, he'll be ready. I believe he said that best.
And right now he's in full support of Kurt and he knows Kurt's going to bounce back. And like, we all feel the same way. And like, part of the reason Penix was picked for moments like this, because you knew he can handle it. You know, the detail and the pressure that we put on all of us, right? I believe Jared said here in September and said, you know, we're going to talk about this all year, right? And we made it this far without him talking about it. And the minute he showed up, I knew we'd be talking about this, right? So it's like, yeah, we're ready for those deals. We're ready to deal with those pressures, ready to answer those questions and ready to ignore the same noise that we ignore when we drafted Penix, right?
We fell in love with a young man that we felt like can take us into the future. And that's what he's going to do. And that's what he's preparing to do.
And right now we're all here to support Kurt Cousins and to be a rally around him so he can finish the job that he started for this football team while he got us into first place and able to finish this thing and go out there and get us done. He's not wrong. We would have taken the under if we said between weeks 13 and 14 would be the first time we're really having this conversation in earnest about why not Penix instead of his struggling Cousins. Would have taken the under, right?
Under would have been taken in different ways. And you, you mentioned this on the overreaction Monday pod that this should happen. And I pointed out, there's no way they are benching Kirk Cousins when they're going into Minnesota and also have a game at Washington, his two former spots. They're going to actually use this to their advantage if it is to be used to any advantage. And then there's winnable games at Vegas in the home for the giants around it. They can get right in a hurry. You know, Kirk Cousins is going to want to have a, you like that game when he's back in Washington, which I believe if I had a peg, it right now is going to be a flexed into Sunday night football game.
If I had a guest right now as we're a month away from it. And this is not the time where you're going to turn to a rookie and say, go get them rook, unless you absolutely have to. And they don't have to right now. I know fans might push back and say, this is exactly the time when they have to, but that's not the way it works in the NFL. Not when Raheem Morris has got a clear vision of things. And it's one of those moments just got to play better, cut out the, just don't throw it late over the middle and in the end zone when we can get three points, which is normally what you say to somebody as young as Pentax, not as somebody as veteran as Cousins. Great. That'll wrap it up for this edition of the Rich Isaac show. Great stuff with Ken Jeong, Emmanuel Acho and Bruce Feldman.
